Currently on view until May 13th, 2023 at Hashimoto Contemporary in Los Angeles, California is the group exhibition, "A Decade of the Jaunt," curated by Jeroen Smeets.
"Decade of The Jaunt" is a group exhibition curated by Jeroen Smeets, the founder of The Jaunt, celebrating its ten-year milestone. Featuring over 30 international artists, the exhibition highlights a decade of sending artists on inspiring trips worldwide. Established in 2013, The Jaunt offers artists unique travel experiences, enabling them to find inspiration in new places. Over the past decade, nearly 100 artists have created artwork inspired by their journeys, culminating in a diverse collection of art and experiences. To mark the anniversary, The Jaunt and Hashimoto Contemporary have invited selected artists to create original works inspired by travel and exploration. The exhibition will showcase original pieces, archive prints, and new screen prints created in honor of the event.

The passing of Elliot Erwitt in Paris yesterday at the ripe age of 95 marks end of an epoch in the world of photography. A period that saw transition from bulky cameras to small cameras, black and white to colour and eventually digital. Erwitt who prefered to stick with black and white film, used it to capture the most important figures of the century. His profound influence on photo artists that have followed is street photography where he brought his keen observation and sense of humour to capture the drama of daily life. Paris hosted his career retrospective earlier this year. Vijay S. Jodha who was in the city at the time captured one of the publicity posters featuring one of Erwitt's most widely published images.
