• 92 Palestinians killed, 121 injured in Gaza in past 24 hours
• Mass anti-government protests across Tel Aviv as Israeli’s have grown impatient to lack of a hostage deal and are calling for an election to see Netanyahu leave, showing mounting disdain for the government. Police have arrested 21 people and reports show the use of water cannons to disperse protestors
• Israeli air raid hits home housing displaced Palestinians in Rafah, killing 7 incl. 1 child
• Gaza ceasefire talks in Paris seems to be the most serious push in weeks; Israel’s war cabinet will convene to vote on the proposed outline & framework, indicating that something “tangible” was produced, especially as Israeli negotiators will be sent to to Qatar to continue talks. This doesn’t mean a ceasefire is close or that Israel has halted its plan to invade Rafah — these talks are unpredictable & subject to change
• Armed Israeli settlers assault 2 Palestinians at a make-shift checkpoint in Hebron (West Bank)

• 86 Palestinians killed, 142 injured in Gaza in past 24 hours
• Palestinians in northern Gaza are being starved as they’ve been cut off from aid as Israel’s relentless bombardment has prevented aid transport from southern Gaza; UNRWA hasn’t delivered any aid since Jan 23. Kamal Adwan Hospital (north) reports increased malnutrition: 1 in 6 kids are “severely malnourished” + hospitals struggling due to lack of fuel, medicine & ambulances
👆 Almost all aid in Gaza goes through Rafah crossing (Egypt) in the south but in recent weeks it has been almost totally halted, dropping from 200 trucks/day to 57, some days less than 20. 2,000+ trucks with enough to feed the entire population have piled up outside the crossing, prevented from entering by Israel. Meanwhile, Israelis have been protesting for weeks at Karem Abu Salem crossing, blocking aid trucks

Highkey love how the calendar mentions the full moon. Always an important event to be aware of🌕
How we doing, kids? How was the weekend? Mine was wild in ways. Today, not so much. I hung out with an old friend yesterday. We had afternoon tea and spent the rest of our day in a bar with 241 cocktails (dangerous game). It was lush. Today however, I’ve been bed bound with period cramps, reading HuskerDust fanfics with cups of tea. The hold this ship has on me rn isn’t worth mentioning. I just think they’re neat, I really do. Anywho, can’t believe it’s Monday again tomorrow. Not a fan of that🙃✌️

Feb 22 - Gamed a bunch, mostly No Man's Sky but also started playing a tiny Timberborn map (the one called Diorama), just because. Made saffron risotto for supper, with ground beef for the protein.
Feb 23 - More gaming. I had a log of lasagne in the oven before my brother let me know he wouldn't be home for dinner, so I had some of that for supper, and the rest went in the fridge for lunches/snacks.
Feb 24 - What a shocker, even more gaming. Still farting around with the tiny Timberborn map; reached my goal (of capping the one badwater source and setting up a way to direct water way from the city during badtides) but decided I wanted to try for a couple additional goals. Mainly, putting up hazard barriers along the badwater river so I could still use it to generate power without poisoning adjacent lands, and then to see how many happiness-raising items I could build before running out of usable map space. Made ground beef vindaloo, barberry rice, and steamed green beans & peas for supper.
Feb 25 - More tiny map (very close to running out of space) and also, yes, yet more NMS. Made a vat of tomato-vegetable sauce to freeze. Added some more books to my library. Supper was pork ribs, mashed potatoes, and mixed steamed vegetables.

thought i’d share another thing i made here :’)
i started working on this thing back in january, as russian troops were gathering around our borders, and i got around to finishing it a couple months later, after they retreated from kyiv and my lucky family and i were able to get back home.
for half of the process i was asking myself, “is making this even worth it if it’s going to be bombed to ashes in a couple of weeks?” (the answer was yes); for the other half, i was asking myself how and why do you even make a house now that there are dead and gutted houses all around (the answer was “well, what else is there to do anyway”).
was aiming for the “small ukrainian granny’s apartment” vibe with soviet era “ugly 70s brown” color furniture and a bit of a witchy/magical realism touch :’) details + a bit of ukrainian folk trivia below!
featuring:
a little pot with a star in it, because stealing stars from the sky and storing them in pots for their evil little purposes is a classic ukrainian witch thing;
eastern orthodox icons, because every respectable ukrainian granny has those in her house + massive church-sanctioned witch hunts were never really a thing in ukraine and a witch is likely to have as amiable a relationship with god and saints and angels as with chorts (demons);
portrait of taras shevchenko, adorned with a rushnyk, because, again, can not be a proper granny apartment without those;
a blooming fern, because fern bloom is a Thing in ukrainian folklore (leads you to a hidden treasure, protects you from evil magic, brings you good luck, all that stuff);
a calendar booklet. it has recipes, farming + (dubious) medical advice, lame granny jokes, and shows February 25, because we’re still stuck in February 24 and hoping for the next day to arrive;
a mysterious tiny door. that rune means “heritage,” and i thought that a witch’s inheritance would warrant a little spooky door to keep it safe (also, our heritage is precisely what russia is trying to take away from us right now, so the concept has a special meaning to me);
fashionable pink slippers!

As you would expect February 29th is a bit bereft of anniversaries, but did you know..........
Anyone born on this day is said to be unlucky in Scottish culture, and referred to as “Leaplings.” True, they don’t get to celebrate many birthdays, but to make things worse, Scottish tradition adds on another layer by saying that leaplings are doomed to a lifetime of “untold suffering.” They also consider leap years as doomed for farmers, as the saying goes: “Leap year was never a good sheep year.”
Ithink we all know that it is the day of the year a lady can traditionally propose toher man, but in Scotland women intending to propose are advised to wear a red petticoat visible to their love – perhaps to give them fair warning! ;) Tradition also stated that any man who refused a Leap Day proposal should be issued with a fine, which could range from money to silk gowns.

The Best News of Last Week
1. A branch of the flu family tree has died and won't be included in future US vaccines
A type of flu virus that used to sicken people every year hasn't been spotted anywhere on Earth since March 2020. As such, experts have advised that the apparently extinct viruses be removed from next year's flu vaccines.
The now-extinct viruses were a branch of the influenza B family tree known as the Yamagata lineage. Scientists first reported the apparent disappearance of Yamagata viruses in 2021.
2. Hospitals must obtain written consent for pelvic and similar exams, the federal government says
Hospitals must obtain written informed consent from patients before subjecting them to pelvic exams and exams of other sensitive areas — especially if an exam will be done while the patient is unconscious, the federal government said Monday.
New guidance from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services now requires consent for breast, pelvic, prostate and rectal exams for “educational and training purposes” performed by medical students, nurse practitioners or physician assistants.
3. Germany approves new law that will allow adults to carry up to 25 grams of cannabis for their own consumption and store up to 50 grams at home.
Germany's upper house, the Bundesrat, cleared the way to partially legalize cannabis on Friday. Adults aged 18 and over will be allowed to carry up to 25 grams of cannabis for their own consumption.
4. Tick-killing pill shows promising results in human trial | Should it pan out, the pill would be a new weapon against Lyme disease.
Tarsus Pharmaceuticals is developing a pill for humans that could provide protection against the tick-borne disease for several weeks at a time. In February, the Irvine, California–based biotech company announced results from a small, early-stage trial showing that 24 hours after taking the drug, it can kill ticks on people, with the effects lasting for up to 30 days.
5. Thailand moves to legalise same-sex marriage
Thailand has taken a historic step closer to marriage equality after the lower house passed a bill giving legal recognition to same-sex marriage.
It still needs approval from the Senate and royal endorsement to become law but it is widely expected to happen by the end of 2024, making Thailand the only South East Asian country to recognise same-sex unions.
6. French Revolution: Cyclists Now Outnumber Motorists In Paris
Official measurements have found that Paris is rapidly becoming a city of transportation cyclists. In the suburbs, where public transit is less dense, transport by car was found to be the main form of mobility. But for journeys from the outskirts of Paris to the center, the number of cyclists now far exceeds the number of motorists, a huge change from just five years ago.
7. 'Miracle' operation reverses blindness in three-year-old girl giving her 'promising' future
A three year old with a genetic condition that causes blindness is doing incredibly well after unique pioneering operation to restore her sight.
The UK is the only country performing keyhole eye surgery to inject healthy copies of a gene into sufferers’ eyes. It is being used to reverse blindness in children born with a rare condition which means they can only distinguish between light and dark. And it has given little Khadijah Chaudhry, born with Leber congenital amaurosis-4, a chance at seeing properly again.

i hope it is okay to ask this but what was your 2k event going to be? i remember you mentioned it a few times and seemed really excited about it. most of your events have either been interactive or supporting others instead of yourself so i am curious what you had in store before going on hiatus
it's okay to ask this! i left it in my navigation on purpose (because i will forget lmao) to see if anyone seemed interested in it!
it's essentially a series similar to myriad where each skz member gets a part, except it's a bunch of stories based off romance films! instead of doing something interactive (my 1k event where I was going to do something like a vote for this or that event failed lmao not doing that again), or something like my ongoing but drafted series based off the lost boys that I said my 2k event would be, I decided to write something a little bigger as a way of saying thank you for supporting me!
the project is huge because it melts into three other groups that I write for on my main blog (and wish I could write more for rn but hiatus yahnoo i really need to pace myself better) so I got kind of overwhelmed. I still work on it sometimes though!
