For me personally merthur is the inevitably of fate. Where every beginning would have an end just like how we started our day at dawn and it ended at dusk. For merthur specifically there's still hope even after the ending (Merlin's however long wait for Arthur) just like even after the darkest nights, morning would follow. You just have to be there to see it. (Keep waiting merlin, we'll see our sun rise yet)

You know what would make the Transformers in a Who Framed Rodger Rabbit Earth even crazier?

A bot is born there but as a Toon.

No one knows how it happened but a random cartoon vehicle someone got intact Allspark energy and came to life. Pure uncanny valley feeling for both factions in my personal opinion. The toon bot can turn into vehicle but operates nowhere close to normal.

Headlights easily shift into cartoony eyes, a large mouth disguised as a front bumper, and use their tires/wheels like hands n feet. Even their Spark acts fucking weird! Ratchet would faint if cartoony eyes and a mouth suddenly popped up on a Toon Bot's spark chamber just to sass him.

Toon Spark: This better be for medical reasons Doc cause patient/doctor relationships are a big no-no.

A Toon Bot would honestly freak out the TFP iterations the most. Especially Buckethead

May I raise the stakes?

What if real-life Toons (and Earth lifeforms in general) existed because of a synchronization effect between Earth/Gaea (born from comatose Unicron) and a Primal Artifact/Allspark from Primus?

And I say this because of Benny the cab.

Benny would be very much their weird space in Uncanny Valley because you already described a lot of the things that would freak out the Cybertronians.

While Cybertronians aren't strangers to transformation sequences, they are very much rooted having at least two modes: alt-mode and root-mode.

Monoformers have much stigma against them as they, either willingly, by medical complications, or natural means, challenge the foundation of their society.

To make it even more unsettling, I propose that mechanical Toons exude spark energy but have no spark.

Sparks are a fundamental organ in Cybertronian biology. It can be physically manipulated and scientifically studied. Toons don't have that real-life and tangile certainty of a soul.

They're more aligned with Earth lifeforms. Yes, we have hearts. But we have heart transplants.

Cybertronians don't have an equivalent of that. There's a process to save a spark by removing it (and the brain module) to a new frame, but there's nothing to be done should both be guttered and destroyed.

Just imagine cyborg Toon with all the bells and whistles got crushed in a skirmish because some mech thought it was a newfound thingmabob, just for the pieces to wail out for help or flirt with Ratchet/Hoist/First Aid and the mech is having an internal mental breakdown.

"Gosh, doc, I wouldn't have taken ya to be a philosopher. Tee-hee." Que a disembodied hand twirling a stray coil from the damaged cavity. It sparks, and smoke forms little heart-shaped puffs.

Ratchet/Hoist/First Aid are holding an equally disembodied helm that inexplicably gained eyelashes to flutter optics: What the merciless Pits is going here!

My Way Home Is Through You

Ahhh this is a tough one! To make it easier on myself, I'm taking it incredibly literally and making it incredibly angsty!!!

So, here's what I'm thinking: DP x DC

Danny’s having a rough time of it, racing through the ghost zone, hurt, bleeding heavily, scared out of his mind - whether it's a reveal gone wrong, the GIW are after him, or Plasmius, it's dealer's choice - so he dives into a rapidly shrinking portal in front of him, hoping against hope that the other side of if is safe.

He doesn't recognise where the portal spits him out, but that's nothing new, all that matters is that it's closed and whoever's following him hasn't made it after him - without another thought, he leans back, closes his eyes and slips into blissful, restful unconsciousness.

So now here's the real question - who finds him? I feel like I'm leaning towards this being a romantic fic, so perhaps one of the batkids - let's go with Tim! - sees all this happen and takes him back to the cave to patch him up and when Danny wakes up a lot less hurt than he expected, he is immensely grateful.

But let's get back to the title!!! Whatever weapons were being used against Danny have affected his core (maybe Plasmius hit him with the Maximus) - or maybe there's just very low ambient ectoplasm in this new dimension - but whatever the reason, it means he's not able to heal quite as quickly as normal, so he's stuck having to rely Tim for a while.

We're entering slowburn country now baby!

It takes a little while for them to trust each other, for them to become friends, but it helps that Danny can be open and honest with him. This is a new dimension that he has no stake in, so Danny has no issues telling the batfam who and what he is, where he comes from and why he was running. Tim, being the gallant genius he is, begins working on a portal to get Danny back to where he needs to be.

Everyday, Tim checks on Danny's wounds and everyday, his fingertips leave trailing goose pimples where they ghost along his skin.

Tim doesn't realise what's happening until Dick takes him aside one day and tells him how proud he is of him for putting aside his feelings to build the very machine that will separate them, and that he'll be here for him no matter what happens.

It gets a lot harder to work on the portal after that.

Danny doesn't realise what's happening until the portal is complete and suddenly it seems impossible for them to say goodbye.

Without Tim, he wouldn't be able to go home, but... without Tim, would it still be his home?

Opal is cisgender, panromantic, and asexual (more specifically I imagine she's sex-repulsed ace)

Zero is omnisexual and genderfluid.

Cabs is cisgender and bisexual.

Joule is girlflux and pansexual.

And I made these two for my friends @gb-diesellok and @electricfied-wolf! Greaseball is omnisexual and intersex, and Elektra/ELEDtra/E-lectra is biromantic asexual!

War Dept. Diesels on the Skarloey Railway

so i went on a brief narrow gauge binge over the weekend and i’ve potential come up with a basis for some mystery engines in the rws.

according to the 1972 Awdry Lecture “Narrow Gauge Rails on Sodor”, we know this:

“In 1939, two diesel locomotives were lent on lease to the Skarloey Railway, to supplement the ageing Skarloey and Rheneas for the extra timber and explosives traffic. Following the end of the war in 1945, both diesels left the railway.”

that, in regular awdry-flavored extra lore fashion, is all we know at the moment. however, i believe i’ve managed to find a basis for this mysterious commandeered machine: 

i present to you, hudson-hunslet’s Atlas of the Stanfold Barn Railway

this design fills all possible criteria:

narrow gauge diesel? CHECK.

used by the war dept in WWII? CHECK.

the skrunkliest little machines you could imagine? ABSOLUTELY.

livery wise, i imagine they came in a charcoal gray livery similar what rusty had in the rws (thereby giving precedent to their livery choice) even though i kinda dig the thought of them being green.

anyways all this to say that i made some sprites of these two and even wrote some character blurbs:

   HUNTER (He/Him) is a young little diesel who came to Skarloey & Rheneas’ railway with Leslie to help during the Second World War. He’s a meticulous sort, and doesn’t care much for change, or passengers for that matter -- he'll have you know he's much more comfortable with trucks!    FUN FACT! Hunter once had to handle Leslie’s Quarrymen’s Train when she was ill, and got trapped by a flock of sheep on the line.

   LESLIE (She/Her) is a young little diesel who came to Skarloey & Rheneas’ railway with Hunter to help during the Second World War. She’s happy to handle any job given to her, but both she and her crew don’t know her own limits.    FUN FACT! Leslie is quite good friends with the Quarryman’s Coaches, though does admit she dreams of pulling “real” coaches like Agnes & the Others one day.
