I must say. The way that fo4 goes about smashing your PC & their spouse's faces together to make Shaun does grant a very nice effect.

AU Thursday: A Smattering of Random Valicer Headcanons

Mostly relating to the standard Modern AU, of course, but the more general ones could apply to any iteration:

-->You know how I have January 8th as “Smiler’s Creation Date” on the Valice( r) Calendar? Well, in thinking of what I wanted to do for it in the shower a couple of days ago, I referred to it as “Smiler’s birthday,” corrected myself with “no, wait, Smiler’s birthdate is the opening date of the coaster, May 31st” --

And then remembered “my human Smiler is ADOPTED -- maybe that’s their adoption day?”

So yeah -- Smiler’s actual birthday is 5/31, but the Altons have another little celebration on 1/8 because that’s when the paperwork all became official and Smiler was fully and legally their kid. Smiler was actually sad when they first learned that other kids just get the ONE birthday.

-->Smiler has a real talent for mixing drinks, both alcoholic and non -- they just seem to have a knack for eyeballing measurements and knowing how much stirring is enough. Any party they throw, they play bartender and knock their guests’ socks off.

-->Related to the above, Smiler’s job while attending college is as a barista in a coffee shop, where they develop a reputation for somehow getting even the most complicated order perfect. They like it when people’s faces light up after having one of their drinks! (Though that does make the “Karens” stand out even more, sadly. . .like this one couple who came in, the wife with a really complicated order that she kept criticizing them on as they tried to make it, and the husband with a simpler order that he refused to leave a tip on, saying it was unnecessary. . .guess how Smiler first met Victor’s parents.)

-->In keeping with the tech theme of the actual coaster, I’ve decided that Smiler, like Victor, enjoys building little robots from kits! They generally do more complicated projects than Victor does, though (hell, maybe they’ve done a mini-toy-like take on the Marmalizer, jokingly calling it their “brainwashing bot”), and they’re better at learning code and programming them. They’re also decent with HTML, as evidenced by the fact that, you know, they have a website with videos and suchlike. :p

-->Victor, for his part, gets into repairing and modifying things -- he finds he enjoys learning how things work and how to fix them, or make them work better, or even just look cooler. And he becomes a “right to repair” advocate after he discovers just how fiddly fixing electronics in this day and age can be, and how expensive it is for most people to replace them.

-->Constantly sending them to practice yoga in Sims 4 when I wasn’t sure what else to do with them has cemented in my head that Smiler just does yoga in general! In that same “crop top and short shorts” outfit that they so often wear as a Sim. Victor finds it very distracting. XD

-->Also, as mentioned in the tags of another post, I’ve recently realized that Smiler’s favorite animal is frogs! Probably as a result of all the breeding and collecting I had them do in Sims 4. They just think they’re neat. :) They also like dragonflies too.

-->Some new food headcanons for the trio -- all of their favorite fruits are also involved in their favorite desserts! Victor likes apples, and absolutely loves a good apple pie; Alice favors strawberries, and really enjoys a strawberry cake; and Smiler likes bananas, and will devour a banana split (they also like bananas foster). I think “chocolate cake” would rank as a second-favorite dessert for all of them though -- and I can see them working their way together through one of those big old “bucket” sundaes you can get at Ben & Jerry’s. (Though that would probably best be handled with the help of Victoria and Emily, and/or Oblivion, Th13teen, Rita, and Galactica. . .probably be a good date idea for the Running Headlong Into The Bullshit mega-polycule too XD)

-->As hinted at in the Christmas headcanons post, I’m tempted to have Alice pick up her father’s love of photography to capture special moments. It seems a fun way to carry on the family legacy! Though, yeah, this is something a modern Alice would be more keen on than a Victorian Alice for sure -- less dangerous chemical bullshit going on!

-->This one is a headcanon-in-progress -- part of me feels like Smiler should have or get a tattoo, but I’m not sure where or what. Something fun and colorful, sure, but beyond that. . .I’ve experimented with adding a tattoo in Sims 4′s CAS to my Smiler Always, but nothing really looked right. (Possibly because all of them are tied to such specific parts of the body -- I’d really like it if you could move certain tattoos to different locations!) Hmmm. We’ll see if this one goes anywhere as a result!

Now feels like an appropriate time to talk about my lovely girls.

I have two FO4 characters, one of them some may already know.

Both girls are the Lone Wanderer (thought to be one person by those outside of the Capital Wasteland) and they're twins; Alice Myers and Heather / Ashe Myers

Complete opposites and the furthest of what some would expect to be twins since they don't look exactly the same but have slightly similar features enough to make people occasionally confuse the two in conversation.

Alice is a tired and angry woman who married Butch DeLoria, as well as had a child with him. She becomes angry easily, especially when someone tries to trick her or force her to do something. She became the Overboss of Nuka-World and rules the raiders with an iron fist without them knowing that she intends to kill them all at some point for all the crimes they've committed, but for the time being she wants to take advantage of being a leader just for a little bit.

Meanwhile Ashe is a naive autistic woman who wants to see the best in people. Back in D.C., Ashe became the holder of Charon's contract and he took over Alice's position of being the sole protector of the oblivious mechanic. Overly friendly and compassionate, always lending a hand and even taking it in stride when someone hurts or tricks her, she refuses to resort to violence unless that's the only option. She joins the Railroad, becomes Deacon's partner, and owns a workshop in Diamond City where she builds, repairs, and upgrades plenty of things. She has a robot for the workshop to help others feel less uncomfortable around robots, a yellow robot with an Assaultatron head, torso, and arms but Mr. Handy thrusters in place of legs.

Honestly, I just wanted a reason to make twins because I haven't had twin ocs for a while and this just made me realize how much I adore both girls. The only real interesting things about the girls is Ashe is in fact autistic because I wanted more positive representation of my fellow peeps with tism and that Alice is missing her right arm from the ambush by the Enclave, though Ashe, Charon, and Butch all have different stories since Alice doesn't want anyone to know. Ashe also created her prosthetic.

Unfortunately I haven't found any mods to give Alice that appearance, so for right now it's not actually an in-game thing. Alice also has a VR pod because she's the only one who genuinely misses the Capital Wasteland, so she uses it to go back whenever she's feeling particularly homesick.

AU Thursday: Fallout of Darkness -- Found Alice

All righty -- remember how, in October of last year, while trying to figure out where exactly Alice should be hidden in the Commonwealth wasteland for Victor and Piper to find, my brain suggested the Massachusetts New State House? Well, I have actually gone to the State House in my game (in fact, I’m a good while past it at this point -- Victor and Piper cleared it, went to Goodneighbor, had the traumatic incident at the Memory Den and met the Vault Tec Rep again, went to Park Street Station, saved Nick, and now they’re doing a tour of Victor’s settlements because a couple of them needed repair after attacks or are asking for new beds and such), and having toured the place, I have decided where exactly Alice is staked:

The basement.

No, not in the giant puddle with the Mirelurk Queen -- specifically, she’s in the storage room, where Provisional Governor Graham was hiding all the paintings and statues and other important stuff from the rioters and looters. This room:

It honestly felt like the most logical place, since all the upstairs portions, save for maybe the bathrooms, would have had, you know, people working in them. My thoughts on how Alice ended up in there are as such:

-->Alice entered Boston as part of her travels around the country, and sent notice to the Prince (as Boston seems to be Camarilla country, at least if you go by Swansong) that she was there for a bit

-->Whoever the Prince was at the time, knowing about what happened in L.A. all that time ago, and possibly already having dealt with an attempt on their life recently, freaked out and immediately ordered Alice’s destruction

-->Alice found herself on the run from a kill squad one night distressingly close to sunrise and needed a place to hide out

-->She happened to be in the Common, and noticed the late-night plumbers coming out from working on the pipes downstairs in the State House (since in the terminals you can learn that the place was having real plumbing issues with the toilets); she took the opportunity to slip inside and look for a place to hide

-->She quickly found the storage room and figured that would work for at least a night, wrapping herself up in some old drop cloths and putting a few pictures over herself as a sort of tent

-->And then the bombs fell the next morning, and the shockwaves and all that led to at least one of the already-fragile pictures breaking -- and the fractured frame managing to stab Alice right in the heart.

-->Cut to 210 years later, and Victor and Piper, having fallen through the massive hole in the main floor into the basement, are working on finding their way out and head into the storage room. They find one raider who, upon seeing them, immediately tries to attack them despite Victor protesting they could help each other escape; the dude snaps apart and yanks out the broken chunk of picture frame as a weapon, as he’s out of bullets --

-->Why does this picture frame already have blood on it OH SHIT VAMPIRE

-->And cue Alice draining a raider and hastily introducing herself to the shocked Victor and Piper, just in time for them to have to fight some mirelurks together.

”But Victoria,” you ask, “doesn’t that room have a bunch of rad barrels in it?” To which I reply:

“Why does it have rad barrels in it?” Like, I genuinely don’t understand why that room, full of what Governor Graham considered priceless artifacts, has BIG BARRELS FULL OF RADIATION WASTE in it as well. This feels like a “let’s make it more dangerous for gameplay purposes” choice, so I’m removing them in the fanfic universe. (Also, yes, the only raider you’re supposed to find down there is supposed to be dead, but it’s implied he died fighting the mirelurks -- if they don’t show up until later. . .) The trio are gonna fight a mirelurk queen shortly after getting to know each other, they can have a little break before then!

Oh, and an additional note, based on how I was playing (namely, Victor and Piper were, you know, sleeping at night and taking on the state house during the day) -- while Alice has to make a deal with Ug-Qualtoth during the forced temporary sacrifice of Victor to get sunlight immunity and the ability to ask directly for new powers, she does get a freebie when she’s first unstaked of being able to be awake during the day. She can’t go outside without proper protection, otherwise she’ll burn (Victor ends up sun-proofing a sleeping bag for her at first and making her a little cart so they can pull her around with his camping equipment), but she doesn’t auto-revert to a corpse when the sun rises, allowing her to actually do stuff so long as it’s indoors. This has led to the rather hilarious mental image of Alice commenting on what she can hear going on outside while she’s in her cocoon, and others being like “wtf why is your sleeping bag talking” (PARTICULARLY her commenting that how Hancock runs Goodneighbor sounds like “Anarchs” and calling him “Baron Hancock” when he expresses confusion).

So yeah -- all this has definitely decanonized my initial “First Meeting” fic, but hey, I already warned you all that was far from a final draft. I’ll edit it up into something that fits this new timeline eventually! For now, I think this is the best spot for Alice to be, and the best way for her to meet Victor and Piper.

Oh god I just scrolled far enough in my page to find back when sky was my fo4 plug in oc but I changed things since then, now Raven is since I didn't want to keep using my unrelated oc for fallout (and because rp lore changed but that's a story for another day)

I'll do a formal introduction of Raven soon, and most likely some more Alice content coming soon as well. Man I've been dead for a while
