Intervention for Rex where a bunch of other clones who deserted surround him and keep asking him questions like "a lifetime of war doesn't sound awful to you? Who was it that told you that all you're good for is fighting wars for people whod spit on you and deny you your rights given half a chance? Why are you proud of only being made to die? Where is anyone arguing for your safety, fighting for your right to freedom from tyranny? What are you running from? What future exactly are you running toward? Is continuing to fight noble or tragic?"

something so treasured, so loved
Tumblr media
summary: xiao doesn't break promises, he cherishes memories instead.
contents: fluffy angst(?), bittersweet, established relationship, gn!reader, uh don't know how to put it lightly but the reader is deceased, changes from 3rd person pov to xiao's pov (main segment), then back
cw: death, see above for reader's status, tiny allusion to violence
recommend listening to: i love you so by the walters (one of my all time favourite songs)
a/n: part of my winter special! also i'm so so sorry this has absolutely nothing to do with winter (my fingers slipped)
Tumblr media
A Yaksha named Alatus- a lover named Xiao- was never the sentimental type. But you changed him. He brings gifts, each with their own message. He hopes you’ll take the time to listen, for he would spend an eternity in the Abyss just to hear your voice again.
The First.
When you first met me, you weren’t scared like all the others. You were simply curious about who I was, either ignorant of my power or did not care that I could kill you in one, fleeting moment. Instead, I was the one intimidated. No one had ever treated me like that; I couldn’t help but want to know more about that new feeling you made me experience. I remember it clearly. A stormy day, clouds overcast, sun hidden behind all the grey, you could hear the thunder from all over Liyue. But you had decided to go outside. It was stupid decision; I still remember your coughs the next day. I got these Mist Flowers from Mondstadt, they remind me of the rain.
The Second.
I don’t know how it happened, but you took down my shield. The shield I didn't know I even had. Rex Lapis said to me years ago that the simplest of things meant the greatest of moments, and I had not understood what he was saying until you held my hand. I was ashamed of how calloused and scarred mine were; I did not think that they were worthy of grasping yours. Instead, you kissed my knuckles and said that you were glad you had met me. I couldn’t look at you- as much as I wanted to- but I held your hand everytime we met after that. Some merchant was selling something that made your hands softer, and I thought of you. I probably should’ve bought it for myself, but I thought you would appreciate the gesture.
The Third.
One cloudy day, you said you liked Qingxin. I was taken off guard, but I wanted to see you happy. So I took you to the mountain peaks- fright evident on your face- but I held you tight, and when we got to the top, you were looking at the view. You could see the rolling mountains and hills, while the voices of the wind and birds drifted by. You said it was beautiful, and I couldn’t take my eyes off you. You never got to bring some Qingxin back, too distracted. But, I could still smell the scent of it weeks after. I visited that exact peak we went to, and it was like you were there with me; I could feel your hand in mine. They’re not the same anymore, but I managed to bring some back.
The Fourth.
You had a necklace made for yourself- the main crystal being made out of Cor Lapis. You said it matched my eyes, and that if you wore it everyday I would be there by your side. I asked why you needed the necklace, when I would always be with you anyway. You didn’t even question the validity of my statement. We both knew how true it was, even when I didn’t know how much weight it carried. This Cor Lapis is the heaviest thing I brought with me, but the lightness I felt on that day was like a clear sky.
The Fifth.
I realised that I wanted to be with you forever when you pointed out the lights at the annual Lantern Rite. They shone as brightly as the gleaming stars, floating up into the sky to join the moon. But, even after all the lights, I thought it was you that shone the brightest. I still do. You looked at me, and I could see the joy that was overflowing in your eyes, your grin blinding mine. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t stop wishing to make that night last forever, if it made you smile like that. I couldn’t stop wishing to stay like that forever, if forever meant you by my side. I’ve had this bracelet for a long time now. I would prefer to give it to you, but there’s something stopping me from doing so. I both fear and long for it to be your voice. The red now reminds me not of blood shed, but of destiny. You were the one responsible for that change. For that, I am eternally grateful.
The Last.
Now, as I look at this stony slab of rock, rain is falling on my shoulders, like that first time we met. I barely notice it, because this rain reminds me of you, and you were always the light in my life, guiding me through the dark. I hope that I was one to you, too. The Qingxin and Mist Flowers are in full bloom, infused with adepti magic to make sure they never wilt, because each petal symbolises the memories we shared. I will never forget them; they are too precious for me to do so. Cor Lapis glows in the dark. I hope you’re still wearing your necklace, but if you’re not, don’t worry, I am here. I will always be here for you.
Sitting next to a polished grave, some blue and white flowers, an orange stone and a little tube of hand cream, Xiao wears a red bracelet on his wrist. He hasnt noticed yet, but there’s tears streaming down his face, hot and salty. He hasn’t noticed his heart straining, the way his eyes fill with an emotion called longing. The thunder shakes the ground he’s on, but it’s like he’s not there. Instead, he bows his head. Perhaps he’s noticed now.
“Thank you. I am in your debt. I promise to stand by you forever more.”

The End (Xiao x fem!reader)
A/N: There's angst, abortion, nsfw concepts, and swearing! If you are uncomfortable with any of that please DON'T read! This was also written a while ago and was just a story concept I pumped out quickly before I forgot it.
(He’s pretty much straight faced for a good majority of this unless stated either wise lol.) (Also Xiangling is roommate/best friend)
(3rd Person POV)
He didn’t know how human relationships worked. They had been together for a long time. That night in her home, something just tugged at him and he couldn’t help himself. She was so intoxicating and he felt something warm inside of his heart. She stayed regardless of his true form and all the atrocities he committed in the past. She was scared, but trusted him…why? She was so…beautiful.  He panted and caressed her cheek with his hand. Had he been someone else he would’ve said she was the one. “Are you alright?” “Yes, I’m ok.” Although his face didn’t show much emotion, his mind had millions of thoughts in his head.  He got up from where she was laying and proceeded to pick up and gently toss her top garment at her. “Cover up.” “Why? U just saw all of me.” Airy laughs left her lips. “It doesn’t matter. I still want you to be decent. I want to keep some of your dignity.” “I guess.” She put the garment on. “Cant you at least stay just a little bit?” He fastened the vision back around his wrist back facing towards her and sighed. “Only for a little while.”  She smiled. He came over and sat on the bed next to her after he finished dressing himself once more. He didn’t know what he wanted to do or what humans would normally do after the fact. He knew when her breathing slowed. He simply got up and left. ~~~
(1st Person) “So you’re telling me. You slept. With a fucking adeptus?!” “Yea?..” “Conqueror of Demons SPECIFICALLY.” “Yea…” “And your period is late.” “Yeaaaaaaaaa……” “Oh Rex Lapis. What, where, when, and how the hell?!” “A couple weeks ago?…”(sheepish) “Do I dare to ask what sex with him was like?!” “Iiiiiiiiiii think he’d prefer I don’t answer that question.” Bubu Pharmacy was busy when we got there. I stood outside and Xiangling bless her soul was kind enough to get the rest herself for me. I don’t think I could stand the embarrassment. “A pregnancy test Ms. Xiangling?” Baizhu asked. “It’s for a friend!” “Well I hope that your friend gets her preferred result.” We then went home. “What are you gonna do if it’s negative?” “I think I’d prefer that.” “What if it comes out positive?…” “I haven’t thought that far.” “You know you’d have to tell him right?” “I don’t know how he’d take it to be honest.” “Well bestie, I want u to know that no matter what I’ll be here to help u and support u ok?”
(time skip) Xiangling sat outside the bathroom cleaning around. It had been 10 minutes. She knocked on the door. “Hey? Is everything ok? Hello?” “Oh uh, I’m here.” “I-I take it from the amount of time you’ve been in there that the result isn’t very good?…"
She opened the door. I felt like I wanted to cry but I was also in disbelief. Xiangling opened her arms. “Cmere. It’s ok.” I let myself be embraced in the hug. Even if I wanted to cry, my body just didn’t seem to want to let me.  “You know you have to tell him.” “He’ll come if I call out his name.” We decided to give me at least three days to think.
We went to the large tree in the clearing of Jueyen Karst(Azhdaha tree) for a secluded area away from human society. Xiangling agreed to stay nearby in the area just in case. After a while I quietly say, “Xiao?” Pause. The surrounding air stood still. “U called?” There he stood, behind me. I gave a small smile. We sat near the water's edge. “Hey. We haven’t spoken since…that one time.” He looked away at the ground either in shame or guilt. His expression didn’t give away too much.  “Yea. Uh…that.” “H-hey! Don’t worry, I’m not complaining! It felt…nice. I liked it, being close to you.” “Hm.” He closed his eyes, facing the ground. “You’re the first man I’ve ever given myself to. I want this to keep going. I want to keep being with u.” He opened his eyes. “Is that all you have to say?” “Uh….no.” There was a long pause of silence.
(3rd Person POV) “Well? Say it. What’s wrong?” She twiddled with her thumbs. “If it’s so important just say it-“ “I’m pregnant-“ “What?” His head whipped up to look at her. “…I’m pregnant.” There was a long pause and his mouth opened a little. He got up and looked off into the distance at nothing in particular. She was barely keeping it together. “I..” “Xiao?” She quickly got up too. “I-I gotta go.” He shook his head and there was, fear on his face. “X-Xiao-“ “I’m not mad.” He said before disappearing into the ether. She collapsed to the ground and let out a small scream. The worst case scenario was coming true. Images of that night played over and over again in her head. His breath against her body, their lips intertwined, her completely letting herself go to him. Was it all for nothing? Xiangling heard her cries and quickly ran over. She kneeled down and hugged her friend and held her close.
~~~
3 weeks had passed and she still hadn’t heard anything from Xiao. And she didn’t know what decision she wanted to take from here. If he didn’t communicate to her she’d have to make one herself. “So…where do u want to go from here?” Xiangling asked while cooking dinner. “I really don’t know…” “Well..you’re carrying an adepti’s child.” “Half adepti aren’t anything new Xiangling. Ganyu and Yanfei exist.” “Well if you want to keep it, you know you have them to help with their experiences growing and living as half adepti in Liyue.” “I guess.” “And you have me to help you too!” “What if I want to get rid of it?” Xianglings bright smile faltered and she placed down the utensils she was using and walked over to where her friend was sitting. She placed her hands on her friends shoulders. “I…(sigh)…I won’t let my personal opinions affect your decision making. Just know I’ll be here to support you and love you no matter what ok?” “Thank you Xiangling.”
~~~
It was about a week or so since she spoke to him. Nothing yet. She didn’t try calling him either. Unfortunately Xiangling had a busy night at the restaurant tonight, however, Bubu Pharmacy is just now closing up for the night. She knocked on the door. “Baizhu?” “Hmmmm? Ah, it’s you. How may I be of assistance?” “May we go to the back and talk in private?” Baizhu glanced over at Qiqi. “Continue cleaning the counter and I’ll be right back Qiqi. Please come to the back with me ma’am.” He smiled and she followed him.  “So, what may I get for you tonight Ms.?” “Um…..uh…something anti-pregnancy related?..”  “Ah I see.” He started glancing around the shelves and searching before finding something.  “Right here. This usually has the best results, however it is quite expensive. Since it’s you alone however, I don’t mind giving you a discount.” “Really? Baizhu thank you.” She was touched. He handed her the labeled container and she skimmed over it. “Dr. Baizhu?” That startled her. The child stared at what was in her hand. “Why are you buying that?” “Uh-“ “Alright Ms. I do thank you for doing business with me today. I wish the woman you are buying for the best of luck. I understand times must be rough.” “Oh, thank you Dr. Baizhu. I’m sure she’s very grateful for your generosity.” She smiled and walked out, concealing the container with her coat.
“What did Dr. Baizhu say?” Xiangling asked while washing her hands. “He gave me something that he thinks should work. However if I don’t decide within 7 weeks, my two decisions slim down to one.” “Are you gonna do it?..” she sighed and looked down. “I don’t know.” The case had been put away in the cabinet for a few days now. She didn’t fancy going through with it. At least not yet. Images of that night would constantly fill her head. His hands. They took many lives yet still felt so soft and gentle. His body, slim yet well built, flowed with hers. And now this.
~~~
Painful cries shattered the still night air. Pure agony had enveloped a human soul. Far away in the mountains of Jueyen Karst, the Vigilant Yaksha flinched.
~~~
Xiangling and her roommate were cleaning up her business after hours. Todays business was booming and the sales were a big success. Her friend was just starting to kind of look up, however she was still experiencing after effects.  “Oh shoot! I forgot to deliver this to a client! Can you finish closing up for me please? I’ll see u at home!” “Of course Xiangling!” “Thanks bestie! You’re amazing!”
There was a heavy presence. It was familiar… “…hi.” “Xiao…” she said sadly. There was a pause. “I’m…erm…I wanted to talk.” Her back faced him. His arms were crossed. “I thought you left.” She said solemnly. He gritted his teeth. “I needed to think.” Tension was heavy. He looked down. “I’m not pregnant anymore for your information.” His head shot up. His mouth hung open a little and his eyes slightly widened. He gave a heavy breath and looked down again. It took a lot of willpower to not let him see her cry. “This has to end.” “Excuse me?” She asked and turned around to face him. “This.” He gestured with a finger between the two of them.“Whatever this is.” That hurt to hear. “Why?” “Haven't I taken enough from u already?” She didn’t answer and looked down. “Exactly. You’re young. Might as well find another mortal to take your hand.” She was silent. A tear left her eye.  He was about to face away from her again and possibly leave.  “Alatus.” A nerve was struck. “What did you say?” She looked up at him.  “You heard me. Alatus. U wanted me to call you that that night-“ “And it’s obvious there was an error in my decision making-“ “Why did you even come back?” He grimaced. Now he was silent. “You might as well have left me forever. You know what you did to me!” She shouted. He sighed. “I didn’t think you would’ve rid of it.” “And what was I supposed to do when I didn’t hear from u for weeks?!” “It’s not uncommon.” “That wasn’t something you could’ve just waited communicating about!” He didn’t want to say something he’d regret.  “We’re done here.” “Xiao!” “I said we’re done!” He shouted. She stepped back. “We both knew this wasn’t going to work.” Last time she saw him disappear.
~~~
(extended ending)
Xiangling swore to keep it a secret. But some late night traveler walked by and heard the exchange and now Liyue Harbor’s gossip crew were eating up the story of a single girl carrying the child of an adeptus. Not a day went by where she heard people asking about the baby, and the father, and her pregnancy. She was starting to regret. Her wounds needed time to heal. If she didn’t waste so much time on that damned yaksha… “Would you just shut up?! There is NO baby!” That information was enough for scandals to form and news about her being a murder and adeptus killer spread. She just wished a single day went by where she wasn’t shamed for "ruining Liyue’s future". She cried whenever she got home. Xiangling, a blessing of Rex Lapis, was there with her the whole time. Through thick and thin.  “I still feel physical pain every once in a while.” “I know…” “I just want it to stop.” “Many people are quick to think you’re crazy to not be happy that u were blessed enough to carry the child of a yaksha without knowing the whole context. If they knew what went down I'm sure their opinions would change in a heartbeat.” “What’d you tell them?” “I told them as much! That they have no right to speak. If it was them they wouldn’t be feeling the way they do now. None of this is your fault and you shouldn’t blame yourself. You r an amazing person under highly stressful circumstances. You are completely justified and I’m here for you no matter what.” “Thanks. I just wished things turned out differently…”
~~ He heard the rumors, the scandals, and the gossip. It’s not like he already felt guilty. But this was for the best. He wouldn’t have felt anything for it anyway. Why make the thing suffer because of his past actions.
“Alatus” she called him. With love and trust…how foolish…
My Oneshot for day 3 of @kaneraweek "Everybody Talks". After all the angst I went with something more lighthearted today 😊. Also it's way shorter😂.
It's also here on ao3:
My works for Kanera Week 2023 (5876 words) by RandomLettersIJustThoughtOf ____________________________________ Day 3: Prompts: Broad: Everybody talks Specific: Rumors | Outside POV | Shutting People Up Hera hears an outrageos rumor and is determinded to find out where it came from.
"Kanan Jarrus!" Everybody in the Ghost kitchen spun around to Hera, who had just stormed in infuriated, and now stood in the door, puffing herself up and glaring at Kanan as if she had caught him doing something extremely forbitten. He was just pouring himself a cup of water, wtf? He froze, raised an eyebrow, and exchanged a quick look with Zeb and Sabine to see, if they understood what was going on. But they looked just as surprised and confused as him. He looked back at Hera and raised a questioning eyebrow, but couldn't completely hide the trace of amusement by her barely contained rage in his voice, when he jokingly replied: "Love?" "Do not 'Love' me!", Hera demanded, striving towards him, accusingly pointing at him. "Care to explain, why I just got, not one, not two, but THREE people congratulating me on EXPECTING A CHILD?" Kanan choked on his water. "You are pregnant?!?" For a moment, they just stared at each other immensely confused, and Hera could watch every range of emotion cross Kanan's face in the span of a moment. Confusion, shock, excitement, fear, guilt, hope, happiness, and then confusion again. "I… what, NO!" Hera blushed such a dark green that it almost reached the tone of Kanan's shirt. Sabine and Zeb exchanged a slightly amused 'Oh, interesting'-look and chuckled silently. "Oh", was the only thing Kanan could think to say. He would have sounded nearly disappointed if it hadn't been overshadowed by ten layers of confusion. "I… I just wanted to know why everybody assumed that." Hera was still blushing like crazy. "I don't know, what made you think this was my fault?" "I don't know, whose else would it be?" "Well, not mine!? I don't…" "Hey guys!" Ezra crashed into the kitchen. "What's going on? Why did a very scared Wedge and a very concerned Rex just warn me, they think Hera is about to commit homicide after they saw her storm through the base? I think you scared them." Sabine laughed, picturing various rebels scrambling to get out of the way of a very infuriated Hera, practically trembling with rage, marching towards the ghost. Zeb took it upon himself to answer Ezra's question, chuckling as well: "Well, it seems like there is a rumor going around, that our dear Hera is pregnant." Ezra frowned in confusion. "Why… oh." A sudden realization dawned on his face. "Ezra Bridger," Hera growled, "What did you do?" "Nothing! I just…", he glanced at Sabine for support, but she remained silent, a grin on her face and pure mischief sparkling in her eyes. "I was fighting with Sabine earlier, and I think I said something like 'I'm getting a new sister', so maybe somebody heard that and…" The rest of his sentence got lost in Zeb's and Sabine's roaring laughter. Hera groaned and rolled her eyes, but even she couldn't hide her smile. Kanan was still confused and overwhelmed by the events of these last two minutes, but soon, he joined the laughter as well. He searched for Hera's eyes, but she kept them fixed to the ground. She did not know what to do with the realization that he was not appalled—maybe even excited—by the thought of her bearing his child. Damn, someday they would really need to talk about this.
Rating: T, SFW
*******************************************************
(Silver's POV)
As soon as the light haired man spoke, I saw a hint of regret in the other man's face. When he looked down at me he studied the fear in my face for a quick moment before he released me abruptly.
Feeling the instant relief of his release, I rolled over quickly, putting myself deeper into the water so there was more distance between myself, and the men.
I pulled out my knife from its pouch, behind my back and held it up, the blade facing towards them. I was getting ready to defend myself when the light haired man spoke again.
“Woah! Hey now, take it easy there. We aren't going to harm you.” He looked over and nodded to the other man, as if he was hinting at something. The other man nodded in agreement before they both put their hands up. They were trying to display that they were unarmed, in an attempt to show me that they weren't here to hurt me. But, I didn't trust them. How could I? I didn't KNOW them.
The light haired man lowered his posture before he took a couple slow and calm steps towards me. He was attempting to look less intimidating but I still didn't want him near me.
“Get back!! Don't come any closer!” I shouted, a distrusting tone in my voice.
He paused immediately and furrowed his brows softly before speaking again
“Look…I think we just got off on the wrong foot here. My name is Rex, and this is Wolffe. we aren’t here to hurt you, our ship just crashed and we are stuck here until we can repair it.”
My stiff and alert stance softened a bit at the man's statement, I could sense he was telling the truth but I still felt weary of them both.
“Hey, sorry about pinning you down like that and scaring you, I guess we were both caught off guard and trying to protect ourselves.” the man named Wolffe exclaimed “No hard feelings?” He rubbed the back of his neck and gestured to me. I holstered my knife and stood up fully. Water dripped quickly off my clothes and back down into the water.
I walked slowly and cautiously up to the both of them, specifically the one called Rex, so that I could get a better look at them.
Rex stiffened at my advancement and paused in his tracks, giving me an awkward but kind look. As I looked them both over, I had to admit, they were both good looking. Wolffe had a rugged and tough look to him, but he was still put together. A large scar crossed his face and a cybernetic eye was in place of a natural one. But Rex really stood out to me, he stood tall and alert. And he had very short light blonde hair. But, what really caught my attention the most were his eyes. They held a lot of compassion and calmness in them. And the sun reflected through them like a mirror to his soul.
I quickly gathered my thoughts and then stood up in front of them, my shoulders straightening out. I looked at them again, raising an eyebrow to them.
“So, your ship crashed here huh?” I exclaimed while crossing my arms.
“Uh yeah, our systems went down after we jumped into hyperspace. We sustained significant damage during a fight… and uh- it threw us out of hyperspace and our ship crash landed here.”
My facial expression softened at his honesty “Alright. I believe you.”
I walked past them in an attempt to leave, feeling satisfied with the explanation, but his next words stopped me in my tracks.
“Wait! We seem to be a bit turned around and our scanner isn't picking up our ship's location anymore, do you think you could direct us back to the crash site?”
I paused and quickly processed his request.
It isn't that bad of a request right? I mean the faster they get back to their ship, the faster they fix it and leave, I thought to myself.
I turned on my heel to face Rex and Wolffe before responding “Alright REX-” he pulled back abruptly, surprised at the emphasis I used on his name “I’ll direct you two back to your ship. It's this way.” I start walking towards the forest as Rex and Wolffe begin to follow loosely behind me.
*****
The walk back to their ship was quiet, they didn't bother to say much and neither did I. As we continued down through the thick brush of the forest, all you could hear around us were the sounds of the wind through the trees and the rustling of the wild life.
We quickly re approached the desolate land of where my home used to be, I paused in my tracks before taking a deep, staggered breath and continuing. As we continued onwards, I saw in the corner of my eye, Rex glancing in my direction.
We continued walking a bit further before he finally broke the prolonged silence.
“What happened here? Were there people who inhabited this moon?.”
I paused again instantly, looking out at the damaged land around us. Tears threatened to well up in my eyes at the thought of my people, at the thought of my family. I sighed heavily, composing myself and turning slightly to Rex
“Yes, this was once a flourishing village, one that housed many families. Including mine. That was before the Empire came.”
My breath caught in my throat and I felt my chest get heavy. I took another deep breath to re-gather myself before turning to Rex and Wolffe. “Your ship is just in the clearing past this fjord, keep heading this way through those sets of trees and your ship is just around the bend, you can't miss it.” Rex’s expression softened and he nodded to me “ thank you- uhh-” his golden eyes widened softly as he paused. “Sorry- I didn't quite catch your name.” I looked at him with a smirk and a raised brow “that's because I didn't give it.”
My remark caught him off guard but he smirked back at me softly before nodding. Rex and Wolffe thanked me again and I started to walk off alone. I don't know what came over me but,
I stopped quickly and paused, thinking my next move over carefully “Silver-”
Rex and Wolffe paused at my abrupt remark, “My name is Silver.”
I turned back to them briefly, and Rex shot me a soft smile before we all continued on our separate ways.
You’re just gonna drop the Alex/Rex thing and NOT tell us how that exchange went when he showed up?
You’re right, anon, how can I deny you all the truth?
Here’s what happened… from Rex’s POV
I yawned. Another boring lazy Friday. At least I didn’t have to go to work but still… the day was as it usually was. Until it wasn’t.
I finished brushing my fangs and grabbed my guitar. I was planning on getting some practise in before lunch. Just before I could head to the garage, the doorbell rang.
I groaned. Closest to the door gets it, that was the rule. I put my guitar down and opened the door, expecting a Girl Scout or maybe a missionary that I could scare away with my fangs.
I wasn’t expecting my own face to be staring back at me.
“Ted?” But he didn’t quite look like Ted. He had the wrong number of freckles and his hair was slightly wrong. His eyes were one eighth a shade darker than Ted’s, but everything looked exactly like… me?
“H-hi… I’m… I’m Alexander.” He spoke in the exact voice of mine, not the voice of Ted’s, who was just a smudge higher and two smidge’s slower than me.
“No, I’M Alexander.” I blurted, not knowing what else to say. Who was this guy? Why was he here?
“Oh I’m… a-are you sure?” He was holding something. A piece of paper.
“What’s that?” I asked, suspicious of this guy. I didn’t trust him. Why would he say he was me? Why did he look like me?
He held up the paper. It was an old amber alert ad from 2006, with… mine and Ted’s baby pictures on it?
“I-I think I’m one of the missing boys.” He stuttered.
I stared at the ad for a few minutes. No way. No fucking way. It said our names, descriptions, had Mom and Dad’s old phone numbers on it, even had our old address on it.
“DAAAAAD!!!!” I called into the house.
Chapter Ten: Power Ballad
There was a miscommunication, and my lawyer got the judge to push my date back to December without telling me first. So when October came around, I went to my finals at the same time as all the other kids, and we got out of school early for two days. I finished my contract renegotiations in September, so I spent a lot of time in the studio after school when I wasn’t in the creative dance club with Hillary. Still, I felt lonely without Dad. I hadn’t seen him since August, and I think it affected the tone of the music I wrote. “Luck, don’t you think you should throw in something upbeat?” Rex asked. “What do you think, Roxy?”
“I think it doesn’t have to be upbeat… But it needs a power ballad or something,” Roxy suggested.
“I’m writing what I feel,” I replied. “You guys don’t have to hover. I promised a February release, and I’m sticking to that… I’ve just—. I have a lot on my plate right now. I have to figure out what to say to the judge in December. How do you convince somebody to tell you who brought you into the world? Hey, I have a wonderful father who I love dearly, but I recently found out he’s not the life-giver I thought he was. Can you give me the names of my birth parents… And explain to me why they didn’t keep me? Oh, and I want to thank them for giving me to my dad because I can’t imagine my life without him.” I strummed my guitar to fill the silence.
“Hey, Luck? I’m going to Sun Dollar. Want one of those teas with the fruit in it?” Roxy asked.
“Can I get a peach tea, please? And if they have a bag of that berry tea can you ask them to put them in one cup?” I asked. Roxy brushed her knuckle against my chin.
“You got it, Kid… And don’t you have your first school dance coming up? You’ll have the power ballad as soon as you meet eyes with that special somebody on the dancefloor,” Roxy teased, “It’ll be nothing but sweet little ballads from that moment on.”
My cheeks went rosy at the thought, but I hadn’t grown close to anyone outside Hillary. I was so focused on fulfilling my promise to perform with the creative dance club at the rally that I never thought about getting a date for the dance. I sank and stared at the ceiling. Was she waiting for me to ask her? Did someone else ask her? Heck… Were we friends or something more than that? It was all confusing. “What’s bothering you now?” Rex asked, snapping me out of it.
“I’ll ask Roxy when she gets back,” I replied.
I fell asleep in the chair before she could return, and I woke up to my phone vibrating in my hood. “Hello?” I mumbled before looking around the empty room. Rex and Roxy were long gone.
“Lucky, were you asleep?” Lois asked.
“Uhh… Yeah, but I need to get home soon, so it’s a good thing you called me,” I replied, “Wait… What’s wrong? What time—?” I checked the time. Two-oh-four in the morning. “Did something happen?”
“No… Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry. You poor thing, I forgot about the time zones. What time is it for you right now?” Lois asked.
“Two a.m.,” I replied with a tearful voice. My mind knew everything was fine, but my body hadn’t caught up. I cried without meaning to, and I wiped my tears away. “I’m sorry… You scared me. I thought my dad-. You said he’s okay, right?”
“Yes, Lex is fine… Lucky, I’m so sorry. I can call you later on—.”
“No, it’s okay,” I sniffed, “I like talking to you, and I wanted to talk to you… Um, can I get your advice for something stupid? I mean—. I don’t know anyone I can ask that’s my age, but you went to school dances and stuff—.”
“No dumb questions here, Lucky,” Lois interrupted. I dried my eyes and chuckled.
“Oh, um-. My first dance is coming up, and I—. I’m not sure if people even—. I made one friend, and she’s the nicest girl. She—. We’re friends, but I don’t know if I should ask her out to the dance or if that’s only something people do in movies. Is that something only couples do? And would it mess up my friendship with her if I asked? I like her, but I don’t know if I like her as a friend or more than a friend—.”
“Lucky, breathe… If you want to ask, you should ask. The worst thing that could happen is your friend says no, and it’s a bit awkward, but—.”
“Grand gestures aren’t her thing. I can’t—. How do I ask her?” I interrupted without meaning to.
“Be straightforward and sincere. Your friend will respect you for being honest. How would you feel if she said no?” Lois questioned. I took my drink out of the fridge and took a sip.
“I’d be embarrassed, but at least I’d hope we could still be friends,” I answered. I meant that. I liked being around Hillary. She was my friend.
I moved toward the door, but I felt a wave of nausea. Or maybe fear. “That’s good, Lucky. I hope you ask her… And tell me how it goes,” Lois whispered.
“I—. Lois, how’s my dad?” I asked.
“He’s alright. Wait—. You said you weren’t home… Are you at a friend’s house?” Lois questioned. I ran a hand through my hair as I took another sip. It was the only thing that calmed my nerves.
“No… I’m at the studio, and I think everyone went home. I’m—. It’s dumb, but I’m scared to go home alone. It’s so late here,” I laughed. Lois made a soft clicking noise.
“Do you know someone that can pick you up?” Lois asked. She sounded worried.
“No, but I should—. I—. It’s not a school night. I can sleep here,” I replied.
“Are you sure? Lucky, is that safe?” Lois asked.
“Is what safe?” Clark asked in the background.
“Lucky’s in the studio by himself at two a.m. He said he might sleep there,” Lois explained.
“He can’t do that, can he?” Clark asked.
“It’s fine… Um, the studio has better security than my building. I’m safer here than going home tonight,” I replied. I didn’t want them telling my dad.
“Lucky, maybe I have some friends out there that could—.”
“I think I have my friend’s oldest brother’s number in my phone for emergencies. He usually gets off work this time on Fridays. It was nice hearing from you guys, and thanks for the advice, Lois. I’ll talk to you guys in a few hours… Night—. Morning,” I replied before hanging up. I had no choice but to text Hillary. I was surprised when she answered immediately by calling me.
“Hey, Lucas, do you know what time it is?” Hillary asked. She called me that affectionately because I wouldn’t tell her my real name.
“Is Jake up right now—?”
“Oh, gross—.”
“No, I don’t—. Eww—. Come on, Hil’, he’s your brother… I’m asking because I wanna go home, but I fell asleep, and now everybody’s gone. Do you think he’d come and pick me up if I asked him nicely? Or if I offered to pay him gas for the ride here and back to my place?” I asked.
“Let me ask him. Hold on,” Hillary whispered. I heard her footsteps over the phone, and she knocked on his door. “Jake?”
“What’s the matter?” Jake questioned.
“Lucky wanted to ask you for a favor, but he’s scared you’ll say no. He even offered to pay you for gas—.”
“He in trouble?” Jake asked. “Tell him to send you his location. I’ll come and get him. Does he wanna stay the night?”
I sent my location to her phone. “Let me ask. Lucky, do you wanna stay over?” Hillary asked.
“I can if that’s easier,” I replied.
“He said he’ll do whatever’s easiest for you,” Hillary replied.
“Okay. I’m on my way there. Tell him to stay put… Oh, and that it was smart he called instead of trying to get home this late by himself. I don’t care how late it is. You do exactly what he did if you’re stuck somewhere past curfew. You hear me?” Jake asked her in his usual no-nonsense voice. And everything felt okay for a while. At least for that night.
Tumblr media
“What the hell?” - He sits on the stretcher.
“What… What have I done? What…”
 “Hey, hey. You’re okay now.” - You say. “They no longer control you.”
 “How… How did you do it?”
 “So, Rex told me that the kaminoans put these inhibitor chips on all of you guys. All clones have one of these in their heads. And somehow it makes you obey orders and you just loose control of yourself. I think?”
 “Yeah. I was there all the time. But I couldn’t. I couldn’t help it. I just had to obey and do everything I was told to. Not matter how hard I tried to fight it….”
  “I know, I know. This isn’t your fault. These bastards made you do it. But now, you’re free and you gonna be ok.”
  He looks at you. His expression is carrying so much emotions that he doesn’t even need to say anything. You know he’s broken. But he does gives you a little smile like he’s silently thanking you for helping him.
 “Shouldn't we go?” He breaks the silence.
 “Indeed. Before the get suspicious. But… do you have a plan or something? Like, they can’t know you’re without your chip or you’ll be considered a traitor.”
 “Yes, I’m aware of that. I’ve got to pretend I’m still loyal to them. And you… If anyone asks, we’re dating.”
 “Hmmm…. Ok?”  You answer. “I mean, what else could’ve I said?” You also think.
 “So, shall we go, Cross?”
 “Yes. But first, I need to do something.” He says taking your hand and forcing you to move. When you’re at the corridor he speaks again to you loud enough so the others can listen too:
 “Darling, wait for me in my room, okay? I’ve got some things to take care of before I’m all yours.”  He winks at you. It takes you a phew seconds to process what he meant with that then you finally go do what he asked you to.
         ———————————————————————
 That was easy. Too easy. Crosshair always knew how to be mean and look scary. He learned soon enough that he needed to be like this or the others would never respect him. Or so he thought. But this reg speech earlier… It had somehow made him listened. This Captain Howzer put himself at risk in front everyone just so he could help his squad. He just spoke out like that in an empire base and some of those clones actually heard him. Cross had to admit, that was really brave specially to a reg. So maybe this guy was worth saving.
 He entered the cell. It was just like the others: small, rather empty, clean enough and with just a seat for the prisoner. Howzer was sitting looking down but when he entered the room he looked up right at him.
“Now, what do you want?”  The captain said looking like he was done with all this already.
“I want…” Crosshair checked the surroundings again. No one was around. Good.
“I wanna help you.”
“What?” That seemed to catch the captain off guard.
“Yes, you heard it right. I want help you. I gonna set you free from here.”
“Really? And how do you plan to do that?”
“Oh, please, cut the sarcasm. I’ll find a way to take your chip off first.”
“My what?”
“I'm sorry, this gonna hurt a bit.” Poor Howzer looked at him even more confused.
 Crosshair hit him hard. He passed out with a little cut on his head. The poor guy probably would have a bit of a headache later but at least with a real injury no one would get suspicious, right? Crosshair then carried Howzer all the way back to the medical bay. Some soldiers looked at them however none of them were brave enough to ask any questions. They all knew it was better not to question the commander decisions. And they could see a bit of blood on the other clone.
 Crosshair had seen the imperials using the equipments before a few times. Even on him once. So he kind had his way and got it done quickly. Howzer got up soon after, still confused and a bit angry maybe?
“What the hell was all of that?”
“We don’t have much time. We have to leave.”
“Whoa, slow down. I’m not getting. Why you’re doing this? And why do we have to leave? And why… Why do I suddenly feel… I don’t know…”
“Free?” He nods in agreement. “The voice is gone, uh?”
“Yes? I guess?”
“Look, I saw what you did there. The way stood up to them, you didn’t have to do that. You could’ve left and save yourself. But you went back and spoke in front of everyone. You didn’t abandon your men. And…” Crosshair looked down. “That’s something I can admire…” He was thinking about his team then.
“I just did what I thought it was right. These guys have been with me for years, they’re my brothers. I can’t just leave them behind. That’s why I can’t just leave now too.”
“But you must. I know you cared about them but you can’t do anything if you’re just a prisoner or dead. You have to save yourself before you can save others, you know?”  The captain looks down.
“You're probably right…” He takes a moment. “I just wish I could do more for them.”
“I get it. Though right now, I don’t think there’s much you could do anyway.”
“Yeah…”
“So, I’m gonna pretend we’ve got to move you to another base. I’m gonna say I don’t want anyone on your team having ideias of breaking you out. They saw you speech out there, so they might believe having you here could have a bad influence on these regs. These soldiers aren’t very bright anyway.”
“Right. Seems like a plausible plan. Anything else?”
“Look angry. I’m gonna send you back to cell so I can prepare some things and then be ready to leave, ok?”
“Yep.”
“Let’s go.”
 Crosshair handcuffed him and started pushing him. Howzer acted out like he was angry and fighting him. The commander them curse him and threat him and so Howzer pretend he was fighting back. They made a whole scene all the way back to the captain scene and everyone kept staring at them curious and whispering stuff. Crosshair finally throw him at the cell and they both cursed each other.
“We're moving to another base. He’s too much trouble for us here.” Crosshair informed the guards. They nodded in agreement.
“Agreed, sir. We don’t others getting ideais from his little speech back there.”
“Exactly my thoughts.” He pause for a second. “I just have some things to take care of before.” They seemed to understand what he was talking about.
“Have your time, sir.”
 The commander walked back to his room trying not to think too much about anything. Because whenever he did it was a rollercoaster of emotions and evasive thoughts and he hated. He hated not being able to control a part of him. And lately, he hasn’t being able to have a lot of control of anything at all. It sucked.
  He opened his door to find you sitting on his bed reading one of his books while looking so comfortable, liked you owned the place. He wasn’t sure if he liked or was a bit jealous of your calmness. Probably both.
“Hey there, booknerd.” You almost jumped.
“Oh, sorry, did I bother you?” He joked.
“Haha. You’re so funny. You should be a comedian, you know?”
“I know.”
“Now, what do we have to do, commander?” Oh, he really liked to be called commander. Probably more than you’re anticipating.
“Actually, right now nothing.”
“Oh, really?” You smiled. “And after that?”
“You're gonna keep up the act for a little longer. I’m gonna pretend to have Captain Howzer moved. I’m plan on taking you plus two guards.”
“Alright. What else?”
“You gonna have to pretend you like to be shown around by me. Or not. And do you happen to know how to shoot well?”
“Not sure about the first part.” He smirked like he was saying “Yeah, sure. We’ll see about that.” And you continued:  “But yes, I can handle myself pretty well with a blaster.” You showed him your holster where your blaster was kept.
“Good. This shouldn’t be so hard then.”
“You know, I thought as observant as you are, you’ve assumed that before.”
“Oh, sorry, sweetheart. I was too busy thinking planning stuff, fighting the chip and looking at other things…..” He looked at you up and down. You almost felt naked.
“Holy…” You started. “Well, now I get how you used to have quite a reputation…”
“Did I?”
“Please, don’t be an ass.”
“That’s an impossible request.”
“At least you know. Now can we go?” He moved and sited right next to you on his bed. Then he whispered on your ear:
“Why? Scared of being alone with me?” That sent shivers up your body. And you quickly moved.
“No! Oh, please no!” You shouted.
“Then why are you shouting, babe?”
“Because I can.” You continued shouting. “Now shall we go or what?” You now spoke quieter.
“Hmmm… Five more minutes. Now sit here and keep reading your book. I promised I’ll be quiet.” You couldn’t help but obey him while you rolled your eyes at him. You kept reading and he support his chin on your shoulder and appeared to be reading with you.
“Now shall we start moving? It’s been like 10 minutes already.”
“Yes. And looked tired but at the same time happy. Like you just had a really damn’ good time.”
“And why?”
“Well, I don’t wanna loose my reputation.” You rolled your eyes at him again.
“Let’s just go, commander.”
Title: True Letters From a Fictional Life
Author: Kenneth Logan
Genre: YA Fiction | Romance | Friendship | Drama | Mystery | LGBTQ+
Content Warnings: Homophobia | Racism
Overall Rating: 8.4/10
Personal Opinion: James Liddel has lived his whole life pretending to be something that he’s not. Straight. Because that’s what everyone around him expects him to be. So in order to cope, he writes letters to people in real life talking about the truth but never sends them out. But maybe he should. Maybe the truth would set him free. In this easy-paced novel, you’ll find yourself hoping everything works out for James as his fictional life and his real life collide.
Do I Own This Book? No.
Spoilers Below For My Likes & Dislikes:
Likes:
- Okay, I have to talk about the ending. James has lived his whole life trying to imitate what everyone expects of him, a straight boy. Even when he’s not dating Theresa, his mom keeps a photo of them on the fridge, a permanent reminder to her son of the future that she wants for him even though in reality, he’s gay. He’s gay and he’s scared because lots of people talk shit about Aaron, the openly gay kid. His best friends used homophobic slurs, his older brother fakes a lisp, his dad says kids don’t know their sexualities, and his mom pitied Aaron’s parents because they have a gay son. It’s really no wonder why he’s terrified of not blending in. Of not being what everyone wants him to be. But in the end, though his mother is still processing that her son is not who she thought he was, she put a Polaroid of James with his boyfriend on the fridge instead and it means so much. The fact that the final chapter was a talk with the younger brother about being queer and why it’s not a thing to be ashamed or afraid of is so important too.
- I really enjoy the humor. It’s clearly a defense mechanism for James, to deflect by making jokes when someone asks him an uncomfortable question. He has had a lot of time acting as he said. But I like how easily his friends fall into that banter too. It flows so naturally and I see why he gets along so well with Derek and Hawken.
- Hawken is also such a cool kid. He’s so chill about finding out that James had a crush on him and he’s secure enough in his own sexuality to try glitter makeup and kiss James on the lips. He’s a good guy and I like that he was there for James during the letter fiasco. He also gave a lot of good advice when it came to coming out. Clearly, he’s got a good relationship with his gay brother.
- Derek is a good friend too. I can see why his faith made it difficult for him to understand queer people. I do think he should’ve been a tad more understanding as a minority but I guess from his POV, he’s a guy who has had to face adversity but he overcame it by blending in and being nice to others. At least, to those that he believes deserve it. But the thing that really makes him a good friend is that he decked Mark without hesitation when Mark said “which one of you is the man.” And he also found James after James ran away from home and was there for him when he felt alone.
- Luke is such a good older brother too. He made jokes but he obviously loves James and cares for him. When he gave his brother a hug in the middle of the trail and let him know his sexuality didn’t matter to him, I loved him. And the fact that he invited a bunch of people over to show James that he had a good support group was just so nice of him. He wasn’t at all skeeved by Topher kissing his brother and he even called Hawken cute. Also, during the final chapter, when they were talking with Rex, the way Luke kept dying with laughter really had me losing it. Especially when Rex assumed James’s boyfriend was Hawken just like Luke did. Also apparently, Rex kissed a boy? I’m glad James and Luke reacted very subtly in that instance.
- Kim is such a good friend too and it’s wild to me that she was the second person James ever came out to. Not to mention, the only person he intentionally came out to. She took it rather well considering Theresa was her best friend. She didn’t out James and she wanted him to feel comfortable around her. She also talked to him about Topher which I bet made him feel normal, being able to talk about his relationship with someone else. I hope she and Derek really get together.
- James has such a distinct and intelligent voice in this story. Even in his writing too. The letters were such a great plot device and I had no idea that Abraham Lincoln used to do that to vent about cabinet members before talking to them. It’s wild because it’s almost a therapy technique. But I do like that James soon decided to give some of those letters to people toward the end. He learned more about communication and how the truth can set you free. Breyer, his English teacher, probably helped a lot with that too.
- James and Topher have a really cute relationship. I don’t think it’s going to last but I like how much James likes Topher. They’re good for now. For his very first gay relationship, they’re good.
Dislikes:
- Honestly, in the first 60% of this book, it felt like I was just reading about a ton of microaggressions stacked on top of one another rather than a story. I mean, we have a random cashier being racist to Derek, we have Derek calling Aaron a fairy, we have Aaron calling Hawken a “retard,” and casual f-slurs and homos being tossed around too. It is fucking wild and it bothered me so much that this was taking place in 2016 in liberal Vermont. Granted, I know the rural areas are a bit more conservative and Kenneth Logan was probably writing more from his experience as a youth but damn, this was a lot to deal with. I am glad though, that when James was officially out of the closet, he had more support than jeers. And I like his friendship with Aaron too.
- Theresa, yo, what the fuck. She really stole his letters and sent them out without permission! I do think Aaron should’ve gotten that letter because he deserved an apology, no matter what form it came in. And it was a good thing Hawken already knew everything before he got his letter. Man, a lot of people shipped them together. I get Theresa wasn’t out to ruin his life but what she did was still completely unwarranted. And it was never her right to do that. I get she was hurting from the revelation that James wasn’t attracted to her but damn.
- Mark is worse than her though. I get that he has his own baggage to deal with (absent mother and an abusive father) but wow, he’s a disgusting bigot. My biggest quandary though is how he and Hawken were best friends before. I mean, Hawken is super chill and open-minded and Mark is literally calling track and cross-country runners “faggots” and not real athletes. And Hawken really thought this was the dude who was cool with gay people since he knew about Hawken’s brother. He clearly misjudged Mark and I am glad that he dumped Mark as soon as he revealed his true colors. Mark doesn’t deserve any kindness from Hawken.
- Also James broke into a house and literally didn’t face any consequences? Hell, Mark barely got consequences for almost killing Aaron. That was fucked up too. And bruh, Aaron getting so relentlessly bullied in the cafeteria was just brutal and wrong. Stupid ass baseball team and their toxic ass masculinity. But yeah, James just broke into a house and let a cat run out? That made me feel a lot less sympathy for him.
- James? Not the most rootable main character. He did lead on Theresa. I’m not saying I don’t get it but the fact that he was dating Topher for real while also indulging her with dates and some kisses was wrong. Not to mention, his own internalized homophobia stung. The way he talked down about femme gays is gross. But you know, I sorta but not really get it? It was because he had felt threatened by Aaron’s confidence to be himself.
- Also fuck James’s dad for saying Aaron was targeted for being femme. Shut the fuck up. Let men be however they fucking want to be. But also, thank you for being more accepting of your son than his mother. Granted, it’s the bare minimum but still. The bar is low.
- I feel like I didn’t address all the casual microaggressions enough, it was gross. Such a diverse cast of characters and yet not a single one of them was without at least one microaggression. Except, I think, Kim and Topher? But in the case of Topher, some things he did raised some red flags for me as to how he’ll be as a boyfriend. But he did get better over time for me and he was so patient with James. I just wish he texted back quicker because it gave me anxiety every time it was pointed out that he didn’t respond to James. But I think that’s just a sign that James was more into Topher than Topher was into him. Who knows, maybe he’ll fall in love or maybe they’ll break up and move on to someone new.
Frozen - Domestic Assassin (Crack AU) Masterpost
This is a Masterpost of all the fanfiction I’d written (all on Tumblr) based in @ultranos’ Domestic Assassin crack AU which was hilarious for a fairly good-sized group of us! And from what I”ve seen in my notifications, people are still enjoying and finding fics of mine in this AU even to this day, which is great!
I’ve basically dug into my previous fanfiction pages and pulled them out year by year, so because it’ll be way too much work to try and arrange everything by title, I just went by year. At least Tumblr keeps the links when I copy and paste.
Since there are so many, you’ll find them under the cut. Enjoy!
Pre-2016
“Where did you leave the spare copy of that book?” (Elsarik DA!verse, prompt)
Crossing over with another writer’s AU with her OC, Alarik. Elsa can’t find that one specific book she needs, and she’s sure Alarik has it.
“You once asked me what I’d do if I had only one day left.” prompt
Anna will most definitely NOT be spending that final day of her life with Hans.
“You did what?!” prompt (Elsa and Kristoff)
Elsa does not appreciate Kristoff’s concern over her having WAY too many cats for one house.
“You mean a line segment.” prompt
Elsa is a huge geometry nerd, even waiting in line for takeaways.
“You should go as an assassin. Oh wait. You already are one.” prompt
Another one where Anna suggests Elsa goes as an assassin for Halloween, only to be all “oh wait, you are one.”
2016
Accidental shooting
Elsa accidentally shoots someone she did not mean to shoot in a library’s basement.
Amuse Me
Elsa’s having one of those blah days and Anna’s there with bad puns all ready to go.
“Bittersweet and Strange” (not based on a prompt)
Elsa explains exactly how she likes her coffee to Anna. Turns out Elsa is also a huge fan of marmite.
“Can’t I at least take this baby koala home?”
Anna, no, you cannot take a koala home from Australia, no matter how cute it is.
Cat Gallery (not based on a prompt)
Kristoff discovers Elsa’s huge photo album of her cats.
“Did you lose your main point…”
Anna hears something about money and bills and wait what now.
“Do nurses ever fall asleep on the night shift?”
Anna visits Elsa in hospital and inevitably someone has to wonder this. Elsa’s adorbs when she’s pouty and Anna can’t help but annoy her on this count.
Fight Me
One sister challenges another to a fun boxing game.
“How did you get these bruises?”
A crossover with another writer’s canon OC, Alarik (”Elsarik”) where he asks how she got some bruises while on the job.
“How many cats are in bed with you?”
Anna marvels that there are nine cats in bed with Elsa.
“I don’t think you’re supposed to have the whole packet at once.”
Do not eat a whole bag of coffee. Do not.
I Have Found My People (not based on a prompt)
Elsa has discovered that certain Scandinavian countries drink the most coffee in the world and wants to migrate there right now.
“I know you don’t want this but it’s for your own good…”
Kristoff is rightly concerned when he finds that Elsa had thirty cups of coffee in 48 hours. Do not do this at home.
“I, uh, kinda dropped it in the water.”
Elsa calls Anna to tell her there’s an emergency: she dropped her wallet in the sea and all the fish now have her personal information.
“I want a Venusian day…”
Elsa tries to explain to Anna why she would not want to live on Venus. Anna doesn’t give a fuck. More hours in the day what’s not to love about that?
Of Cat’s Paws and Adopting Stellar Systems (not based on a prompt)
Elsa is enthralled by a photo of the Cat’s Paw Nebula she has found on the laptop.
Of Monkeying Around and Going Ape (not based on a prompt)
Anna comes home to discover that Elsa has adopted a monkey that had been neglected by its owner. Even Anna is almost (I said, ALMOST) tempted to keep the monkey but her common sense reigns.
“Oh so you were in my bed this whole time?” (nsfw)
Dontcha hate when you’re in the middle of coitus and your goddamn cat has to interrupt you? (Elsarik, with another Frozen writer’s (@patricia-von-arandel) OC for Elsa)
“Once we start tickling, we can’t stop!” (nsfw)
Another steamy one with an old abandoned OC of mine (Jannike), where they find themselves having a quickie while the boss is away.
Rubbish Day (not based on a prompt)
Anna is horrified to find a rubbish bag gone and trails of what suspiciously looks like blood leading outside. Turns out some meat thrown in there leaked inside.
“The best way to get rid of your ex…”
Anna didn’t think that Hans Westerguard would ever end up on Elsa’s targets to “take care of”. Until he does.
The One Time Elsa Caught Anna “Studying” (not based on a prompt)
Anna uses the mirror in the bathroom to practice distinguishing teeth for a medical exam. Elsa suggests alternatives.
“What is this owl doing in our bathroom?”
Of course Elsa would adopt an owl and want to keep it in the bathroom. Of course.
“Who dances in the rain anyway?”
Elsa comes home to discover Anna dancing in the rain.
“Why is there an otter in our kitchen?”
Anna comes home to find that Elsa has “adopted” an otter from a “client”. As you do.
“Why would you wish to be at a backpackers?”
Elsa and Alarik (Shards AU, Elsarik) decide to stay at a backpackers together for some private time.
“Yes, yes the cold doesn’t bother you…”
Anna is not impressed with Elsa standing in the snow when she has a major cold.
2017
The Blood of White Men (not based on a prompt)
As Elsa’s favourite song goes, he had it comin’ all along.
Is the Earth Broken? (not based on a prompt)
Elsa is confused about why the day she thought it was today...actually isn’t. She convinces herself the Earth has somehow broked.
“It won’t be high tide you said…”
Elsa needs to learn that reading yesterday’s newspaper’s high tide times is not helpful.
Kittens on Saturn (not based on a prompt)
Elsa hopes there’s actual giant kittens on Saturn after seeing a graphic manipulation on an astronomy news site.
Of Singing Humpback Whales and Rock Trolls
Kristoff visits Elsa in hospital while Anna’s busy with other things. It...does not go as expected. Poor Kristoff.
“Proboscis Monkeys look ridiculous…”
Anna’s exasperation at Elsa rescuing a Proboscis monkey is still not so great that she can’t help but wonder what would happen if you honked their nose. Anna NO.
“She’s going to kill you.”
Kristoff knows his days are numbered when he spills carrot juice all over Elsa’s brand new rifle. Uh oh.
“There’s a perfectly good reason for all these kittens.”
Turns out Elsa decided to adopt some kittens left on the side of the road when they’re already over-run with cats.
“This is extreme, even for you.”
Elsa is so addicted to her coffee she’s begun pouring them into wine bottles, as you do.
2018
Elsa brings home a parrot
Anna discovers that Elsa has “rescued” a very large, very loud parrot from one of her, ahem, “clients”.
Elsa’s Back Up Cat, Mushu
Anna discovers one of the cats apparently reading a book, and much to her consternation, Elsa explains he’s for back up.
“Oh what a circus!” photo prompt
Anna takes her still-bewildered-after-five-coffees sister to the circus. This may or may not turn out to be a great idea.
ha kinda limited options since Rex was unconscious for like 70% of what i’ve written so far
Rex was lying on something warm. Something very warm. Blazing hot, even. It made a nice change from the last few hours of hazy bone-aching cold. Where was he? Everything after that kriffing droid punched him off that cliff was muddled. He remembered General Skywalker’s voice.
“Sir?” He mumbled, blinking his eyes open.
“Rex!” Skywalker. “How are you feeling?”
“Alright, I think.” Rex said. “What... I remember falling.” Rex adjusted his head on whatever he was lying on, trying to clear the cobwebs from his brain.
“I pulled you out of a freezing river. Scared the hell out of me, I thought I’d lost you.”
“Won’t lose me that easily, sir.” There was something warm on his back, moving gently up and down.
“Good. I don’t know what I’d do without you, Rex.”
“I’m sure you’d manage to get yourself blown up without me just fine.” Rex blinked his eyes more forcefully, bringing his surroundings into focus.
“You know me.” Skywalker’s voice was somewhere above his head. Rex automatically assessed his surroundings. Synthnylon above him. The weight of sleeping bags and blankets over him. He was in a tent. He’d been stripped of his armor and his blacks. Rex shifted, trying to look around. He realized where the warmth was coming from. And what, or rather, who, he’d been using as a pillow. Rex froze. He was staring at Anakin Skywalker’s shirtless chest, upon which he was still lying, and his hand was resting on Anakin Fucking Skywalker’s pectoral, almost exactly where he’d marked Echo, and Anakin Motherfucking Skywalker’s bare arms were around him, one that thing stroking his back was Skywalker’s hand, and Rex wasn’t sure how the hell he was supposed to make it out of this situation alive, much less with his dignity intact.
Game Night - San x Reader
San x Reader fluff 1.5K words
Y/F/B - Favourite Book Y/N - Your Name
Masterlist ——————— Saturday evening. You were laying on your bed reading F/B. The epic fight scene was just about to begin when- Ping! ‘It’s probably some stupid notification’
Ping! ‘It’s just a notification, keep reading’ Ping! ‘Oh my goodness, stahp!!’ Ping! ‘Can’t I have just one moment, ONE moment of peace and quiet?!’ You groan and reach for your phone. You unlock it and see 4 new messages from your crush best friend, San. Your heart flutters a little.
San Hey Y/N! So, we’re hosting Game Night tonight and we were wondering if you’d like to join us? Helloooo? Are you dead? Y/N Hi Idk if I can.. I’m kinda busy tonight
San Busy doing what? C’mon Y/N, you never hang out with us anymore! Socialise! Live a little! We have food Y/N Alright fine. I’ll be there in 10
San 😁😁
You quickly changed out of your sweatpants and t-shirt into some jeans and an oversized sweater and got ready to leave the house.
~Time Skip~ ~3rd Person POV~
“Y/N!! Damn, you got here quick!” San exclaimed when he opened the door.
“San. You should know me by now. I’ll do anything for food” Y/N said whilst taking off her shoes.
“Anything?⁓” San raised his eyebrow and smirked.
It took a moment for Y/N to realise what he meant by that and when she did, her eyes grew wide and her cheeks flushed red.
“GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER YOU-”
“What’s with all the noise here?” Hongjoong asked popping his head through the door. “Oh Y/N! I’m glad you made it! Come in, take a seat.” He smiled and gestured to the living room where Yeosang and Mingi were already seated.
“Where’s everybody else?” Y/N asked them.
“Hongjoong and Seonghwa are preparing the snacks, Yunho is trying to find some blankets and Jongho is looking for board games. I don’t know where Wooyoung disappeared to.” Yeosang answered.
“He’s in the bathroom, I think.” Mingi added.
After everything was set up, game night begun. The first activity was dividing everyone into teams and making up team names. Yunho and Jongho were ‘The Ho’s’, Hongjoong and Mingi came up with the name ‘Rebellious Rappers’, San and Wooyoung couldn’t think of anything so they simply combined their names to form ‘Woosan’, and Yeosang, Seonghwa and Y/N called themselves ‘The Memes’.
After a chaotic game of Charades, which Yunho and Jongho won, the group decided on playing Pictionary.
“HOW THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE A HORSE? That thing looks like a stick dog mixed with a t-rex?!” Mingi howled with tears rolling down his cheeks from laughing too hard.
“Oh as if you could draw it any better!” Wooyoung replied also laughing.
“Damn right I could!” Mingi retorted.
They argued for 5 more minutes before San suggested a Cham-cham-cham tournament which he ended up winning. His bright smile brought butterflies to Y/N’s stomach and caused her heart to palpitate.
They played a game of Would You Rather but Jongho started complaining that it was getting boring and brought forth the idea of playing Truth or Dare.
The colour drained from Y/N’s face.
“Hey is everything alright? You look really pale.” San asked with a hint of concern in his voice.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I’ll just go get myself a glass of water if that’s alright.”
“Sure, go ahead.”
And with that she stood up and walked away. Knowing the boys, they’re going to start exposing each other’s deepest secrets and will make each other do the most embarrassing things.
Y/N was scared about her crush on San being exposed so she was going to play it safe and only pick truths. If the question ‘Do you have a crush?’ comes up, she was planning on saying no and making it as believable as possible. She joined drama in her 1st year of high school so she was hoping that her acting skills were still strong. She can’t risk ruining their friendship. Y/N downed her glass of water and walked back to the living room.
“There you are! I was wondering where you disappeared to!” Hongjoong exclaimed when he saw her. “We were waiting for you so that we could start the game.”
“Ah, you didn’t have to.” Y/N scratched the back of her neck nervously when she noticed everyone was looking at her.
They all sat in a circle on the floor. The group agreed that Y/N should start since she was the only girl in the room.
“Hmm… Alright,” She looked around the room to choose her first victim. “Seonghwa. Truth or Dare?”
“Truth.” He anxiously replied.
“Is it true that you have an oppa kink?” Y/N smirked.
“I-what? W-Why would you think that?” He turned red.
“Your recent V-live.” She chuckled. “So do you?”
“It’s not a kink, okay? I just-”
“It’s okay, we won’t judge you Hwa, this is a safe place.” Y/N reassured him while laughing.
“Uhh… I guess it’s my turn then.” Seonghwa’s eyes shifted around the room. “Wooyoung, Truth or Dare?”
“Dare.” Wooyoung confidently stated.
“Hmm… I dare you to mix orange juice, milk, and ketchup and drink it.”
“Fine.” Wooyoung went to the kitchen, mixed the ingredients and walked back into the living room. After taking a small sip of the mixture he gagged. “This is disgusting.”
“You accepted the dare. Now drink up, Wooyoung.” A sadistic glint appeared in Seonghwa’s eyes.
Wooyoung raised the glass to his mouth and proceeded to drink the mixture.
“CHUG! CHUG! CHUG! CHUG!” Chants filled the room.
After he was finished he rushed to the bathroom slamming the door behind him. All that was heard was disgusting retching as he hurled into the toilet bowl.
The game continued for a while after that. Every now and then Y/N would sneak glances at San. She didn’t exactly know when she started having these feelings towards him but it has been a while now. She knew that he would never return her feelings but a part of her really wanted him to. She even started debating whether or not just to tell him already and get it off her chest. This way she wouldn’t feel like she’s been hiding this huge secret from him.
“Okay, San. Truth or Dare?” Hongjoong asked.
“Dare.”
“I dare you to kiss Y/N.” Hongjoong smirked.
“WHAT?!” The two yelled in unison with beet red faces and eyes as wide as saucers.
“Come on you guys! I can see the way you two keep looking at each other! Just kiss already!”
“Yeah, there does seem to be a lot of romantic tension between you two!” Yeosang added.
“Love is literally in the air when you’re near each other.” Yunho joined in the conversation.
“Kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss,” Jongho started chanting quietly. The rest of the group joined in soon after.
San slowly started leaning in and just when his lips were about to touch yours, you panicked and turned your head to the side. His lips made contact with your cheek.
“Y/N HOW COULD YOU HAVE DONE THATTT?!” Wooyoung, who was now feeling better, screeched.
“Whatever, let’s carry on with the game.” San said trying to hide his disappointment. Little did Y/N know, San had been wanting to kiss her for the longest time. He noticed her staring at him from across the room so he thought that maybe she returned his feelings. He had a crush on Y/N from pretty much day 1 of their friendship but she never would’ve known due to San’s amazing acting skills. Now that he had a chance to confess, he won’t give up easily.
After another 30-ish minutes of playing it was San’s turn to ask the question again.
‘Now’s my chance.’
“Y/N. Truth or Dare?”
“Truth.” Y/N answered fidgeting with her sleeves.
“Did you want me to kiss you back then?” He asked, his beautiful dark brown eyes staring deep into hers.
“Dare.” She blurted out.
He leaned in ever so slightly, “I dare you to kiss me.” The rest of the group were intently watching the scene unfold, some were fangirling but trying to keep their squeals down as to not disrupt the moment.
“Never have I ever-”
“Y/N ThAt’s NoT tHe gAMe” Jongho screeched.
‘I have a chance now. I shouldn’t waste it. But it might ruin our friendship… What should I do?’
“Fuck it.” Y/N nervously bit her lip and leaned in, closing the gap between her and San. The room erupted into cheers and the sound of camera shutters closing was all that was heard. At first San was shocked that Y/N actually kissed him but he sure did enjoy the feeling of her lips on his. He kissed back and felt like his heart was about to jump out of his chest. Imaginary fireworks exploded around the two. The kiss was getting heated when-
“Alright Y/N, San, that’s enough. Go get a room already.” Yeosang scrunched up his nose in disgust.
The two pulled away from each other with flustered faces and giggled a bit. ———————
Hello, so this is my first fanfic ever, I hope you enjoyed it! :) I was thinking about posting on here for a while now and was quite proud of this so, y’know, might as well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In case I get any comments on ‘plagiarising’ another person on a different site I would just like to let you know that I have posted this fanfic of Amino previously but decided to move it onto here because I feel like more people use Tumblr and not Amino and maybe someone was craving some San fluff.
Chapter Four: Visiting Hours
I awakened to a knock at the door at five a.m. and left the bathroom floor to answer it. I came face-to-face with my dad and had to stop myself from getting emotional. "Are you gonna stay a while?" I asked. He nodded. "Wanna stay here?"
I welcomed him inside, and he felt my forehead. "You've got a fever... Did I wake you up?" Dad questioned. I nodded and took the medication the doctors gave me with water. "You don't have a rash, do you? Did you know-."
"The doctor checked, Dad. I don't have a tropical illness," I whispered, "I ate turkey that'd been left out overnight."
It was comforting to have him around. I lay on the couch, and he draped a blanket over me. "Your apartment's nice... How do you like living by yourself?" Dad questioned. I was shocked that he asked. I'd been on my own for nearly three months, and he never once tried to talk to me about my living situation.
"I like it here... I should probably learn how to cook, though," I joked. My dad laughed and messed up my hair.
He went into the kitchen and started throwing stuff out for me. I would've argued with him, but I started feeling sick again, so I went back to the bathroom. When I came out, my dad was gone. I thought he'd left for home, but I saw his suitcase by my bedroom door. I smiled and lay down on the couch to take a nap. When I woke up, he was in the kitchen cutting up vegetables. "Dad? I shouldn't-. Dad?" I called him.
He stopped what he was doing and sat on the coffee table across from me. "What's wrong?" Dad asked.
"I didn't do this because I learned I was adopted," I confessed. Dad frowned and felt my forehead.
"Let's not talk about your emancipation... Let's talk about something else," Dad suggested. I frowned.
"It's a closed adoption... I can't find them-."
"I didn't want you to," Dad interrupted. He stood up and went back to the kitchen. We argued about it once before. I thought he'd tell me if I asked him nicely, but he was still as stubborn as he'd been four months ago.
"Why are you so stubborn? Why can't you tell me who they are?" I asked.
"Don't upset yourself," Dad muttered. I glanced at my phone and looked at all my missed text messages.
"Are they alive?" I asked.
"Stop," Dad warned.
"Do they have other kids? Or am I the only one?" I asked.
He slammed a pot down on the counter. "No more!" Dad yelled. I pulled the blanket over my head and tried to act like my blood wasn't boiling. I wanted to tear into him, but I knew if I did, he'd leave. "You're not mature enough to leave well enough alone, Conner. What makes you think you're ready to know who your biological parents are?"
That was it. I snapped. "You're just scared I'll love someone that's not you!" I screamed. "Why can't you answer a simple question without getting defensive? Why do you insist on being the only person in my world?"
"Because the world is dangerous, Conner! The world will chew you up and spit you out, and they won't apologize! You are naive, and you have no life experience-!"
"Because you made me this way!" I hollered. I wanted to be louder and angrier than he was. I wanted to hurt him. "You made sure I'd never grow up, and now that I'm taking care of myself, you can't stand it!"
"You're barely alive! You gave yourself food poisoning, Conner! And your new manager? He's a crook who isn't qualified to wipe his nose, let alone manage the career of a teen celebrity!" Dad yelled. "And you're so stubborn and childish you don't see how stupid this is! You're throwing a tantrum because I won't give you your way! That's what this whole emancipation thing is about! Do you see how trivial that is?"
I pulled the blanket over my head again and shut him out. "And now you're retreating like a child!" Dad continued.
"Shut up!" I yelled. He won. I hated that he felt the need to rub it in.
I put my headphones in and listened to music to calm down. I stayed like that until my dad finished making dinner. He crouched down in front of me and lifted the blanket just enough for me to see him. He asked me something, but I couldn't hear. I took out my headphones. "Do you think you can eat?" Dad asked. I nodded. Dad made a bowl of soup and sat with me, eating as if we hadn't argued. I could only eat a bit of soup before I started feeling nauseous, so I lay down and turned the tv on. "I sounded like my father... Conner, I shouldn't have done that to you. I can't tell you who your biological parents are... But if something changes, I'll let you know." He reached for my hair and hesitated, and I placed his hand on my forehead. His hands were always cold like a doctor's.
"Conner, when you were a little boy... Before you started acting and singing, you said you wanted to live with me forever... I've pushed you away, haven't I?" Dad asked.
I didn't know how to answer. "You can't protect me from everything, you know? I've gotta grow up. Don't you wanna see if you did an alright job teaching me right from wrong?" I asked. He nodded.
My feelings were hurt, but I didn't want to cause another argument and risk him leaving. "Conner... I-."
"You never yelled at me when I was a kid... Everything's so different now that I'm older," I whispered. Dad ran a hand over his head.
"Conner, I don't-. I can't-... I can't do this again. After this weekend, I need to let go," Dad whispered.
"What are you-."
"I have to let go because I'm not gonna be able to accept this otherwise. We should spend the rest of the year apart," Dad replied. He made an impossible suggestion. I couldn't argue with him because that'd be admitting I still needed him. I didn't say anything. I shut my eyes and pretended I was asleep. I couldn't make any sense of what I felt. The more freedom I had, the more I wanted to be a little kid again. I felt like he pulled the floor out from under me. I felt as if I was losing my dad.
My stomach didn't settle long, and I was back chained to the bathroom by nightfall. Dad knocked on the door, and I didn't answer. "I'm gonna go to the store and see if I can get you some Pedialyte," Dad announced.
I didn't want to talk to him. I especially didn't want to talk to him with my face in a toilet. He was gone less than twenty minutes before he knocked on the door a second time. "I'm going to leave it on the coffee table. Let me know if you need anything," Dad cracked the door to speak to me. I gave him a thumb's up.
