I had a scenario in mind earlier and its not a new concept but. What if Iduna and Agnarr could somehow return and like be there whenever they need.
And I imagined a scenario where Iduna and Yelena see each other again and I feel like they would be happy to see each other again
Tumblr media
So I drew a little fanart. Agnarr was suppose to be there two but I have to go to work soon so I got no time
I was also thinking about Agnarr meeting Matthias again. I feel like theyd be happy to see each other again.
Also also! Imagine them meeting now Queen Anna, the staff members of the castle, old friends, literally Arendell as a whole really. Heck theyd be meeting Kristoff, Sven and Olaf. Imagine seeing thier reaction to Olaf literally being alive. Also both Agnarr and Iduna bieng so proud of Anna seeing her all grown up.
Or them seeing the giant Ice castle with Marshmallow and the Snowgies. Also them questioning if Marshmallow and the Snowgies are Elsas kids because she made them technaclly. Lmao imagine theyre faces xD
Also Iduna and Agnarr visiting the Northuldra Settlement. Like imagine how happy Iduna would be to see her people again. Agnarr would probably feel really damn guilty and stand in the background somewhere a bit akwardly but happy to see Iduna happy. Them meeting Honeymaren and Ryder and the rest of the tribe
And then! And then them reuniting with both the spirits and Elsa. Iduna has seen and interacted with Elsa in Athohallan but still being incredibly happy and proud that she has found her calling. Good old pop would also be incredibly proud of her too of course. Eventho there will be alot of guilt for what has happend in the past (frozen 1). Really making him question his life choices.
And for the Elsamaren fans. Including myself:
I feel like Iduna would be like ,,oh so you are the girl that Elsa likes so much" and Elsa shoots her head up and turns ,,MOM?!" like embarass her a bit. Everybody else just finds it funny. Also them being dumfounded but supportive of Elsa. Agnarr is confused but he got the spirit (get it?)
Those are a few ideas I have. This is just something a bit more wholesome.

FROZEN 3 and FROZEN 4 are both in development, and I can't wait!
The news sounded odd to me initially, I didn't expect anything like this from Disney Animation, but it became immediatly appealing the moment I realized the GREAT potential a double feature could have for the franchise, most importantly when Bob Iger specified “Jenn Lee, who created Frozen, the original Frozen, and Frozen 2 is hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories.”, which would mean:
More time to enstablish new elements, new characters, time to explore new lore and new places without the risk to rush everything;
Tumblr media
A bigger story that can help flesh out our protagonists in their new roles, their new wants and changes they might face, considering how the F2 ending brought many new possibilities;
Tumblr media
A narrative context where the new crysis (whatever it might be) could be explored even better, also allowing to maintain things in a complex prespective just as the Frozen movies like to do, where the matter of "good and evil" not at the center, and things are first of all deeply personal for the characters
Tumblr media
It seems to me that Jennifer Lee always wanted to delve deeper into things, this is why the Broadway Musical was a perfect opportunity for her and the Lopez to expand the characters and flesh out things in the story, also adding new elements that would've been useful for F2.
And when they worked on Frozen 2, they built it as the "second part" of the story, reconnecting almost all the aspects of the sequel to the 1st movie, and the story was clearly meant to be BIGGER and longer compared to what we ended up having because of numerous issues and rewrites. J. Lee and C. Buck didn't want to introduce something that would feel just as "a new adventure", and more about the actual characters evolving, see what they left unresolved, breaking the "Happy ending" scenario of F1, which also led them to NOT give the new human characters (Mattias and the Northuldra) the same relevance given to Spirits of Nature, in order to remain focused on Elsa, Anna and the rest of the gang.
Tumblr media
Now, Lee will most likely not direct or write these two new movies, but she is still directly involved, because it's both part of her job as CCO of Walt Disney Animation Studio and because Frozen is her (and Chris Buck) baby. It will be curious to discover with what idea Marc Smith came out with, but the fact he worked on the 1st Frozen as a storyboard artist and the became Director of Story for Frozen 2 says a lot about him and why Lee trusts him so much, and I'm sure they will follow the approach used with the 2nd movie and carry it on with 3 and 4. Numerous sagas used the two-parter approach, like the books adaptations of Harry Potter, Twilight and Hunger Games series, or more "original cases" like Pirates of the Carribeans or what we are getting now with the animated Spiderverse movies (Across and Beyond). But I think the best similarity (and probably what led to this ambitious choice) is with Avengers Infinity War/Endgame, where the BIG FINALE gets developed in two movies.

If ElsaMaren canonizes in "Frozen 3/4" we will confirm that the royal family of Arendelle has a very specific type.

Tumblr media
Which makes it a bit ironic considering the hatred Runeard felt for these types of people in the past, and now all of his descendants have gone down the opposite path that he did.

I think the biggest reason for Agnar and Iduna’s failure in handing Elsa’s magic, is that they were so concerned with the direct result of the accident that they neglected their daughters emotional states in the aftermath of the accident. Elsa need emotional comfort that her powers didn’t make her a monster. Anna may have been five, but anything would have been better then leaving her in the dark to think that her sister hated her. And to be clear, I don’t hate their parents. This just came up.
For the most part, I agree. Iduna and Agnarr's choices were extreme because of their fears and they forgot to take care of their daughter's emotional states and better nurture them.
But I also feel that there are still some things to consider here.
Iduna and Agnarr had no knowledge of what Elsa's magic is meant to be or represent. They didn't know where Elsa's magic came from, if they were good or bad, or how Elsa is supposed to control them - or that she even needed to control them in the first place.
As far as they were concerned, Elsa was able to control them just fine and played freely with Anna with no issues. This was just something unique that Elsa was born with and could be easily pursued and studied when the time came for it. No urgency here.
Then Anna got hurt, completely by accident, and almost died.
These mysterious powers, once thought to be just a unique trait, were now shown to be capable of causing serious harm. Now there is a huge urgency to better understand these powers. However, there were no answers - only uncertainties.
Who/what gave Elsa this magic, and why?
What is the purpose of this magic?
Will the magic hurt Anna again?
Will Anna's condition progress again if she sees the magic?
Will the magic hurt someone else this time?
Was the magic capable of hurting Elsa herself?
What would the kingdom think?
Will the kingdom come after Elsa to hurt her?
Will the Kingdom deny her the right to rule?
Would another Kingdom try to attack Arendelle?
Uncertainty leads to fear, and fear leads to bad choices.
Now, I'm not saying "You can't criticize Agnarr and Iduna or want more accountability for their choices." Far from it.
I personally still want closure for the past and hope they finally just let Anna and Elsa talk about it without any subtleties. After all, it was the choices of the parents that led to Anna and Elsa's more serious flaws and its about time to just let the conversation happen. You don't have to paint the parents in a bad light to do this, since they did recognize that what they were doing wasn't working, and died in their attempt to make it right - which is very commendable and heartbreaking. But it also wouldn't hurt the narrative at all by just letting the conversation finally happen.
TLDR - Its easy for us on the outside to say- "Did the parents seriously think that by isolating Elsa and teaching her to hide a part of herself was going to end well, and not add to her trauma of hurting Anna while damaging her self-esteem?" when we know how to control the magic, and what Elsa's magic is meant to be. Actually being in this situation, however, is a completely different story, and there was a lot that Agnarr and Iduna had to consider, including both of their daughter's safety as well as the safety and security of Arendelle itself, as was their responsibility as rulers.

Damn, how much I missed pointing out parallelisms
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not much actually, I simply don't remember if I pointed out already that the Ice Castle scene with Elsa nearly killing the Duke bodyguards and Hans stopping her seems composed in the same way of when she hit Anna and her parents came in .... Yeah, it seems likely, considering that THAT specific moment is the one that reminds Elsa of her trauma and what King Agnarr taught her, which Hans indirectly exploits by realizing that, deep down, she is just afraid. Basically, Agnarr and Hans rappresent the "status quo" Elsa is supposed to follow.
The Trolls scene, well, I put it here just for a matter of completness, also because the Broadway adaptation then enriched the (obvious) parallelism by giving Queen Iduna an active role, making her summon the Trolls/Hidden Folks, anticipating elements about her past revealed in the 2nd movie, which of course creates an interesting parallel with Kristoff and Iduna, as the characters related to magic that aid Anna in her crytical moments. Of course it's not something present in the "canon" version (the movie), but it's backed up by Frozen 2 and what Iduna did to save Agnarr's life.
I also guess, chronologically speaking, that the Ice Castle fight probably happened while Anna, Kristoff and the others were visiting the Trolls, or during their journey to the Valley ... but who cares Ha ha ha
