Honeymaren Gákti design. I took the original design from the concept art and mixed the original from the Sami in a bit. I kinda went for a more wintery look since the animatic is also play around the winter season. And i took some inspiration from the artist NightLiight on Deviantart. They made art of Kristoffs parents and it also had traditional sami clothes.

Inktober 2022 day 4 🐚 "Scallop"
On her first week in the Forest, Elsa quickly found ways to make herself useful around the Northuldra camp. Especially when the tribe decided to move to another area now that the Mist was lifted, reconnecting with their nomad traditions and changing the place where they would put their goahtis.
Once they were done unpacking and building them in the new land, Elsa rubbed the sweat off her forehead with satisfaction, smiling at the Northuldra who thanked her for her help and involvement. She then headed to the sea, the close point of interest that caused the Northuldra to pick this place, and kneeled to wash her face and hands.
There was a ripple on the surface, and two magical blue eyes appeared in its depths. Elsa chuckled.
"Hello there. If I didn't sense your presence through magic when I arrived, I would have been startled!"
Nokk neighed from below the surface, then popped at it, his horse face the only thing appearing at Elsa's level. She grinned at the odd apparition, and petted the horse now that her hands were clean.
She had a look at the sea. "It's way more calm now that we're all at peace, uh?"
Nokk nudged her face at her humor, splashing her cheek, and she let out a laugh.
"Having fun?" Said a familiar voice behind her.
Elsa quickly stood up and twirled around with composure, straightened even. Honeymaren blinked at her change of attitude. Why did she look that stiff?
There was an awkward silence, and Elsa realized that she still had habits from her years as Queen. She cleared her throat before looking at the Water Spirit, then her friend again. "Y-yeah, we, uh... We're having fun. It's a lovely weather today, isn't it?"
Elsa immediately wanted to smash her head first on the pebbles of the shore. Talking about weather, really? However, Honeymaren found the transition logical. She bowed to the water horse, who indeed was the reason of most of pressure changes, and showed Elsa her basket.
"Indeed. That's why we're going into the waters."
The Fifth Spirit looked behind the brunette and saw that several Northuldra were happily chatting as they walked to the sea with baskets.
"What for?" Smiled Elsa.
"We'll pick up empty scallops to break them."
The Snow Queen blinked, confused. "To break them? But seashells are beautiful."
From her youngest age, she had always admired the wonders of the fjord, especially its underwater plants and the shells that ended on the shore. She loved how iridescent some of them were, and it reminded her of ice in a way. She had read countless books about wildlife when she was a reclused kid, and wondered why someone would destroy them... For fun?
Honeymaren chuckled at her expression. "It's for medicinal use. We put them in a mortar and smash them to tiny pieces then powder."
"Ohhh. Right." Nodded Elsa. She was about to tell her new friend that she had read books on the topic as well, but didn't want to look too nerdy for her first week within the tribe.
"You want to come along?" Invited Honeymaren.
Elsa grinned, delighted. "Sure!"
The Northuldra took off their boots and rolled up their pants, and the Snow Queen vanished her ice ones to the knees, before the whole group walked into the water.
Nevertheless, half an hour later, Elsa hadn't found a single shell yet. She felt disastrous. The basket she shared with Honeymaren was nearly full, but only the brunette was filling it. Elsa clenched her fists in frustration; she was used to find and observe things underwater with the fjord, which was much more transparent. Here, she was a beginner again.
For the following ten minutes, she tried techniques to spot them, imitating Honeymaren or other Northuldra, but when they turned their heads to ask the Fifth Spirit if she needed anything starting at them like that, she blushed and looked elsewhere.
Elsa tried to walk further, searching in a new spot and hoping that there would be scallops there. But in vain. Desperate, Elsa slumped her shoulders. She was failing miserably, and didn't like it at all. She wanted to be helpful!
Nokk sensed her disarray, and approached at her feet, neighing at her. She gave him a sad smile. "It's okay, I'll just wait for them to end this activity then I'll make myself useful for something else."
She sighed, looking at the Northuldra being active in the distance while she did nothing. 'I'm making an awful first Fifth Spirit impression.' She thought bitterly.
"I wish I could pick up all the scallops in one go!" She mumbled in despair, gesturing to the whole spot they were searching through.
Nokk didn't need to be told twice. He suddenly disappeared in a splash, heading elsewhere at great speed, and Elsa wondered where he had gone.
Great, even him had given up on her. But right when she started to sigh again, she heard the Northuldra nearby letting out surprised gasps and giggles, like something was tickling their feet and legs.
Honeymaren laughed out loud when the Water Spirit shook the water above the sand under her toes and took out several seashells, then picked them up in his mouth.
The water horse then headed back to the Fifth Spirit, who had widened her eyes when she realized both what was happening and her mistake.
The Spirits obeyed her now. Which meant, if she wished for something, they gave her that thing.
And that thing was nearly thirty empty scallops floating in Nokk's body as he fully emerged from the water in a proud gesture, his hooves trotting on the surface. Elsa dropped her jaw at the sight, and could only reach out in astonishment when his body sparkled in the daylight with all the multicolored seashells he was transporting.
The Fifth Spirit blushed, thanking Nokk a bit clumsily, especially when she felt all the looks on her and heard Honeymaren's laughter. She just as clumsily crafter a basket made out of ice, and picked up the shells one by one.
Elsa undeniably was excited to know that the Water Spirit had gone from a powerful challenger to a very friendly helper. What else could they do together? But she also felt embarrassed, and the tip of her ears burned when Honeymaren approached.
"Well... If I didn't find that impressive and wasn't admirative to see the Spirits being our allies again, I would say that you're cheating, holy Fifth Spirit."
Elsa fidgeted with her basket, her blush renewed, but she couldn't help the smile that pulled her lips.

I am both excited and terrified for Frozen 3,,,despite all of its flaws I really love Frozen 2 but I'm sad about all of the production problems it had and hope that Frozen 3 is given the time to deserves to fully flesh out its story ;-;
I really hope it expands more on the Northuldra, especially since it was revealed in a book that Iduna wasnt originally from that tribe. Theres just so much untapped potential regarding the Northuldra and spirits and Anna and Elsa's connection to it, I'm excited to see where it goes :)

One disappointment I really don't want to have with "Frozen 3" and "Frozen 4": so long after "Frozen 2" the Northuldras are ignored again.
Tumblr media
To this day, the only one they are developing remains a mobile game, "Disney Magic Kingdoms". Even the "Frozen Podcast", which has a large part of its plot taking place in the Enchanted Forest, ignores them and only remembers the tribe in a mention by Kristoff. And in the anthology the story related to them is something from the past that only serves to give Agduna more justification.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honeymaren and Ryder have so much potential, their connections with Elsa and Kristoff, and I'm not talking about romance although if we consider the mobile game, it's canon to say that the woman is in love with the Snow Queen and her brother supports the shipp after realizing that Elsa wasn't interest in him. And Yelana, although she is by far the least prominent character of the trio, she met Iduna, are they going to continue ignoring that?
If the franchise really needs support from the Sámi tribe to make content with the Northuldra tribe, I hope Disney will be kind to them.
I want "Frozen 3" and "Frozen 4" to explore new characters and new themes, but it doesn't need to ignore its past (it could even bring the idiot prince back to be beaten by someone else, I don't care) and especially the past that It hasn't even been addressed yet.

So Frozen 2. The first movie is about self-acceptance. This movie is about self-discovery. Elsa feels that while everything is going good for her at the moment in her Kingdom of Arendelle that she’s not where she belongs - not who or where she’s meant to be. Elsa accidentally awakens the four spirits (Air, Fire, Water and Earth) of the enchanted forest when she hears a voice calling to her and she listens to it. Anyway, they get called out to the enchanted forest by Gale (spirit of Air) to put things right in the past between their Kingdom and the indigenous tribe of Northuldra and Elsa learns her true nature. We eventually find out that she’s hearing the voice because she is the fifth spirit and the voice that’s calling her is her from the future.
The truth was calling out to her because longtime lies from their past needed to be uncovered. Longtime lies that have segregated an entire community of people that were meant to be together. They were meant for their lives to be intertwined as Anna and Elsa’s mother was Northuldran and their father was Arendellian.
So it’s all about finding the right “path” or “way” which is always a compelling story to tell in fiction. And of course, it’s not just Elsa that discovers who she truly is and what she’s meant to be doing with her life. Anna becomes Queen of Arendelle and marries Kristoff while Elsa remains in the enchanted forest with the other spirits as the bridge between the magic of nature and humanity as well as a protector of it.
And it’s just as emotionally powerful as the first movie if not more for the reason that - once again - these are dark concepts to be exploring in a children’s franchise but ultimately they relate to and resonate with many diverse audiences who struggle with understanding who they are and their purpose in life just like them.
I always say that it’s worth it to go a little bit darker as long as you know how to use nuance and metaphor to tell a story in a number of different ways so that it can be accessible and beneficial for all ages and genders.

Character ask: King Agnarr(Musical/Film)
I feel like this is unfair because I answered some for Frozen 1 Agnarr and some for Frozen 2 Agnarr, except that the better Agnarr (Frozen 1) doesn't have enough personality or scenes to really answer all of these. So here we are.
favorite thing about them:
This is one of those Frozen 1 answers.
Agnarr clearly cares for his family. His worst choices come from making difficult decisions in an impossible situation. He and Iduna end up basically abusing and traumatizing both daughters via the separation, the neglect of Anna, and the repetition of the repression mantra for Elsa, but let's be honest: can any of us say we would've handled the situation better?
In a modern analogy, Elsa has a trait that makes her unavoidably lash out in moments of extreme emotion. When playing with her sister she accidentally lashes out and Anna ends up at death's doorstep; only rushing her to the ER and having her undergo traumatic brain surgery allowed Anna to survive.
As a decent father, separating the girls and focusing on getting Elsa's powers under control was obviously the top priority. Elsa even agrees with Agnarr! In the musical, Iduna argues that the girls should be kept together, and Elsa says "Mother, it's how it has to be. What's best for her is best for me," then turns to her father, who reassures her they'll find a way to control her powers. There is never an indication Agnarr and Iduna planned to keep their daughters separated forever, just until Elsa could be around people without accidentally hurting someone. The problem was that neither parent knew how to actually help Elsa; the trolls gave them the vaguest advice of avoiding "fear", which wasn't actionable.
Without help, the day the girls could reunite never came. After the parents died, Elsa tried to follow their advice, but she was a child without guidance. Of course she didn't do it right! And when she did reunite with Anna, exactly the thing they were all fearing happened: she was overwhelmed, lost control, and mortally wounded her sister.
Just ... Agnarr is a tragic figure. There was no good answer in his situation, especially if he was trying to be a good king on top of dealing with all this. It's part of why I prefer the idea that he died on just a normal diplomatic trip, because then the tragedy is human and normal. Frozen 2 saying that the parents died trying to find answers for Elsa makes the world feel small and boring and like nothing else ever happened.
So in summary: he's such an interestingly tragic character. I wish Frozen 2 had been content to leave him as a normal, tragic character instead of warping his whole life to revolve around Elsa.
least favorite thing about them:
As a person? Emotionally abusing both daughters for a decade. Not only was Elsa being taught to repress her feelings, but Anna was so neglected by both parents that she was talking to paintings for company while her entire family was in the same home. Just because her trauma didn't manifest in explosive, awful ways like Elsa's, it seems both parents assumed she was fine and handling it and never noticed that her cheer was another coping mechanism.
As a narrative device? I kinda like that he kicks off Elsa being wrong about how to control her powers and starts her and Anna on the path of trauma that leads to the horrific situation that forms the basis of Frozen.
In Frozen 2, I really hate that this man apparently never figured out his wife was a native woman and - separate to that - felt comfortable telling the story of the time his family massacred a whole tribe of native people as a bedtime story to his kids. Its a bad character trait and bad writing - two for one!
favorite line:
Had to ask the roommate for help, and she turned up:
Elsa: Were the Northuldra magical, like me? Agnarr: No Elsa, they were not magical, they just took advantage of the forest gifts. Their ways were so different from ours. But still, they promised us friendship. In honor of that, your grandfather, King Runeard, built them a mighty dam to strengthen their waters. It was a gift of peace.
The narrative framing is what really makes this [chef's kiss]. He's so, so wrong, and on top of it, he's blatantly ignoring Elsa's cry for reassurance that she's not alone.
Oh, but for Frozen 1 -- I saw a post once pointing out that the mantra Agnarr teaches Elsa is "conceal it, don't feel it, don't let it show". It doesn't become "conceal, don't feel, don't let it show" until Elsa's had a lot of time to spiral alone and conflate her dangerous powers with her sense of self. It's a little detail but one that hurts me in a good way.
brOTP:
Does Agnarr have friends? I genuinely can't think of one. I like how musical!Agnarr interacts with his family. As mentioned above, I like that he and Elsa are on the same track when it comes to keeping Anna safe even if it means the girls can't be together.
OTP:
Agnarr/Iduna (musical edition)
nOTP:
Agnarr/Iduna (Frozen 2), though I've just started Dangerous Secrets and I think it might give Frozen 2 a run for it's money in terms of bad romance. The flawed premise is inherited from F2 thought so ... let's call F2 the worst.
random headcanon:
I like to believe that he's a good king of Arendelle. We have no evidence of this either way in the films, but it makes him more interesting if he was a decent king who was trying to balance that with his family life. I imagine he became a less stellar king after they had to close the family off from people, but still not bad.
(Sort of like Nicholas II pulling away from public life because he couldn't explain that the reason they kept a weird monk around was Alexei had hemophilia, but in this case it's because Elsa can kill people in a simple accident.)
Overall, the people of Arendelle remember Agnarr fondly but without a lot of detail.
unpopular opinion:
I simply do not care! And furthermore, there is nothing Disney or anyone else can do will make me curious about this man or his life. I don't care how he and Iduna met, I don't care who they were when they were younger, I just do not care. They exist to be Anna and Elsa's origin story, and that's it.
Also, I think the girls need to talk about the fact their parents sucked. They can't heal until they admit it.
song i associate with them:
"Monster" from the musical...? Mostly because Elsa invokes him by title in it. I don't think of Agnarr as a character much, but Agnarr the concept definitely haunts Elsa.
favorite picture of them:
One HUNDRED percent this picture of him talking about how his family massacred a native tribe, saying that the tribe attacked them (which is demonstrably wrong), not knowing his wife was on the massacred side.
Tumblr media
Honorable mention to Iduna's absolute lack of reaction. No thoughts, head empty, if she confronted the fact she had two kids with this man she'd have to do something more drastic than occasionally singing her kids a native lullaby after her loving husband is safely gone.
That whole scene being the opening of the film sure was a choice!
I'm also fond of every single musical Agnarr, but he's not photographed as much.

WHAT ONCE WAS MINE/MOJ DAWNY SKARB - FROZEN/TANGLED CROSSOVER FANFIC (overall informations and possible release date)
So, for over a month, I am working on my fanfic, being a crossover story between Frozen and Tangled, connecting them into one universe, being also kind of retelling for Frozen 2, with unused scenes, characters and concepts from the second film ^^
The overall plot I'm working on, tells the story after Tangled Ever After and original Frozen film, where Elsa searches her purpose in life, Anna and Kristoff are getting engaged, and Rapunzel is trying to rule Corona with Eugene, but then, the King of the Southern Isles interrupts one of the most important celebrations in Arendelle, saying that he wants to attack and rule the other kingdoms, and because of that, Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Rapunzel and Eugene are going for an adventure, to find a solution to save their kingdoms, meeting Northuldra tribe, other 1800's Disney Characters (like Ariel or Cinderella), solving secrets, as well as fighting or trusting their old enemies, counting Prince Hans, with who Elsa makes a bond after time (Helsa will be in this project ^^)
I am really excited to share "What Once Was Mine" (in Polish "Mój Dawny Skarb") with you, because I think it's a good story, which I put so much heart and effort to :)
DISCLAIMER : this fanfick will be not in English, since I have no time or power to write all the story all again, so if you know Polish, you can easily read this fanfic, but if not, you can use Google Translator to fully read and understand the story ^^

i am thinking about frozen 2. it makes me really mad bc they shafted kristoff and made anna wildly ooc every time she had to accidentally spurn him. kristoff and anna are my fave disney couple don't @ me
anyway bc kristoff is so saami coded (tribe of indigenous people that the northuldra are also based off of) i think he should be revealed to be from a tribe of indigenous people also. probably when he meets ryder, like he explains how he met sven and got into reindeer and ryder thinks it sounds like one of the other tribes he's heard tale of.
also he only tries to propose once, at the start. anna goes after elsa and kristoff shelves the idea. then, get this: a massive adventure begins, and he TAKES IT SERIOUSLY and DOES NOT TRY TO PROPOSE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT.
when anna destroys the dam, elsa does not save arendelle. arendelle is destroyed. elsa does reappear though, probably still riding the nokk, and like, idk... calms the rock giants or something.
knowing arendelle is gone, elsa struggles with the fact that her people need her, but anna reassures her that she can handle it. elsa crowns anna the new queen, and several northuldra return to the ruined kingdom with her and kristoff (and sven and olaf too i guess) to help rebuild and provide relief and aid to the displaced people. also kristoff's tribe arrives to help as well, and kristoff gets a little bonus closure about his past.
sometime after the rebuilding efforts are underway, kristoff is concerned about what anna being a queen is going to do to their relationship. anna surprises him by proposing, stating she'd be nowhere without him and wants him by her side. and hey, a queen needs a king, right? he says yes and they have a cute little moment. then like, the story closes with elsa reading a letter about the upcoming wedding, and then she rides off into the sunset.
also like. the new arendelle being ruled by a half-northuldra woman and a [other indigenous tribe] man would be a really fitting end for it i think.
i know frozen is all about ~sisterly love~ but it was simply unfair to get me invested in a het ship and then drop the ball so hard.

Do you plan on adapting Snow Queen Ingrid from OUAT Season 4 in your Disneyverse version of Frozen
I have Idunna having a sister called Ingrid --or rather Inge, as I decided Idunna is an Arendellean version of her Northuldra name, Idun--as well as a sister called Hege to round out the trio. But the two sisters have passed away by the time we see her as a child in Frozen 2 (as a tie in novel says she was an orphan adopted from another tribe, hence why she looks different then the Northuldra we see in the film)
So that's as close as we'd get in the DisneyVerse. But I do want to do an adaption of the actual Snow Queen fairytale at some point!

@princessmounata I tried to reflect on your questions.
1. In Dangerous Secrets and in the cut scenes with Iduna, we saw that she was not friends with all of the Spirits, but only with the Spirit of Air. I didn't notice that she was "controlling" Gale, but they were definitely close and Gale helped her. Maybe because Iduna was from a special kin of Northuldra? My headcanon is that this "oldest" family was a shamanic family and had a special connection with Ahtohallan in the ancient times that was lost later and hold the revelations about magic of Nature stored in the shawls patterns and children rhymes and fairy tales. Does it mean that this kin had the Fifth Spirits through generations? It depends on what we want to see.
I know that some people like to think that Iduna was also the potential Fifth Spirit or prefer the theory of a long line of Fifth Spirits in the tribe. Personally, I think that Elsa is still one-of-a-kind, there is a lot of supporting evidence about this in the canon, and this is how mythic prophecies about choseness usually work. Plus, don't forget there was an act of rescuing Agnarr, an act of true love that was a trigger to giving Iduna the gift, as was stated by Anna in the shipwreck scene. I stick to Elsa as the only predestined chosen one.
But there may well be an alternative view of the role of Iduna, and the theory of the long heritage of the Fifth Spirits to which Elsa may belong opens up interesting prospects. For example, it could be that Elsa's element is water, and Iduna's special element was air, and she could also become the Spirit if she grew up in the tribe longer to her coming of age. But when she got to Arendelle, she lost bond with the sources of magic and took a different path. Though I prefer the other view, I like this theory too. It accentuates the bond between the mother and daughter. "I need to know who you were, to know who I am" as Elsa sings in the deleted song I Seek the Truth.
2. I'm not sure it was Iduna's spirit as a ghost in the classical sense we used to, but I think it's the memories of her living in water/ice. It was Ahtohallan the Spirit who awakened them, showing how Iduna loved Elsa all her life, showing it symbolically to comfort Elsa and accentuate the importance of Iduna in the whole story. To complete Iduna's wish to help her daughter.
I think it works on the principle of how there is now news about an artificial intelligence that can read everything about a passed person, his/her posts in social networks, and then, after processing this information, start communicating with a relative as that dead person could do during his/her lifetime. I think the key to this scene is that as long as we remember our loved ones, they are alive in our hearts. I don't know if such a revived memory of someone's consciousness can be considered a spirit. Someone may think that yes.
3. Why did Iduna drown after all, and her search remained unfinished, as she herself said? This is a difficult, delicate question. Firstly, she was outside the territory of the Forest, so the Elemental Spirits could not do anything, being gibernated–after all, only Elsa was able to awaken the Forest. Next, we enter the path of essential metaphysical questions about a higher sense or lack of it. Why? Because that's fate, and if something happened, then there was no other way. There are circumstances, there is also a predestination. Why? I don't know. After all, Frozen world is an alternate universe.
4. As for the picture of the sign of the Fifth Spirit above the Forest, I just didn't have a better screenshot, it was there, everything just happens very quickly like a flash.

A Rita and Runeard hc
Tumblr media
Yeah let’s pass Iduna and Agnaar, and went to Rita and Runeard instead lmao.
So i have headcanon for Rita is Northuldran and the firstborn of the chief. She and Runeard was arranged to married so the two land can have peace to the long time war to each other. They didn’t have feeling to each other at first but eventually their blomes over time. But there were still some people from the Northuldran that didn’t like this peace agreement and took that this is an act of betrayal from Rita and the chief. Known for their magic knowledge, they use it to killed Rita during labor or made her got sick and died.
Runeard was devastated. He managed to knew the that it was the Northuldran people that did it, but his proof was not strong enough and the Northuldran choose to not investigate it more. Actually they knew it was from their people, but The Chief was too ashamed to accept it that it was from Northuldran since he was the one who offered the peace agreement to married off his daughter to Arendelle’s royal in the first place.
Runeard accepted that his wife died from sickness, but from that on, he lost his trust towards the Northuldran and from that on he saw magic is something cursed. Since he couldn’t arrest the culprit, he planned to kill all of the Northuldran. He kept the appearance like he is still into this peace agreement as he slowly started to make the Northuldran suffer with the dam thing and gave them the sudden attack as the rest Frozen 2 tell ya.
Generic? yeah. Seemed off? Of Course. But thank you for listening my firecamp story. :P

Frozen 3 trailer concept
(Arendelle town seen from above in bird view, slowly panning down to Anna and Elsa happily walking down a street. There are changes in buildings and town layouts showing that time has passed since Frozen 2, they are wearing new outfits, and they laugh and chat before the camera catches up to them. They keep walking)
Anna: So! What are the news since last friday? I love our little catch ups.
Elsa: You first.
Anna: Meh,
(shots of Anna in Queen attire helping people around, participating in events, leading political meetings) Anna's voice-over: you know, Queen stuff. How about you?
Elsa: Well,
(shots of Elsa helping Northuldra in the forest, gathering reindeer as she rides Nokk, running in panic after Bruni) Elsa's VO: the usual Fifth Spirit routine.
(back to Arendelle's streets; Elsa shrugs with humor. Then her smile vanishes, she frowns in concern)
Elsa: Though, there's this odd thing that happened the other day in Ahtohallan...
(shot of her widening her eyes in the dome of memories, staring in awe at something off screen)
(back to Elsa in Arendelle's streets, she stops walking and stares at Anna)
Elsa: I saw memories... Not from the past...
(same shot of Ahtohallan, reverse angle where Elsa lifts her hand to a group of ice statues to reach it in disbelief, the scene clearly has not happened before and features older versions of the main characters) Elsa's VO: ...but from the future.
(title screen that reads "IN 2025")
(Honeymaren and Ryder walking with a nervous Elsa in the Forest) Honeymaren: There must be an explanation.
(title screen that reads "JUMP FORWARD")
(Frohana characters walk around ice statues that Elsa crafted in the main hall of Arendelle in awe, looking at every detail)
Kristoff: So these come from... Our future?
Anna: This is incredible.
(close shot of Olaf walking to the statue of his future self, his admiration switches to a smirk, he wiggles his eyebrows, the trailer music stops) Olaf: I look good.
(trailer music resumes, title screen that reads "FOR A FINAL FROZEN ADVENTURE")
(close shot of Anna, looking very serious) Anna: You've got Arendelle's full support.
(shot of Northuldra tribe + Frohana staring up at something big off screen, Anna and Elsa have protective hand gestures towards each other) Anna's VO: Whatever we do... Elsa's VO: We do it together.
(trailer music blasts, new logo appears in 3D)
(boom with a title screen that reads "NOVEMBER 2025")

Elsa + Queen Disa VS Elsa + Honeymaren
A conversation about this before it turns into a discussion beyond what I'm seeing in my social circle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The look of Queen Disa from the "Frozen Podcast" was recently revealed, and due to her interaction with Elsa in it, a new shipp is being born in the Frozen fandom: Elsa + Queen Disa.
I haven't watched the entire podcast yet, but I've seen some analyzes and in fact Elsa and Disa have a lot of interesting scenes: they start off having problems with each other because of their thoughts about magic and technology, they eventually end up helping each other (especially Disa helps Elsa), and in the end they really become friends, promising a new moment for them to meet. It's almost like "enemies to lovers".
And because Elsa + Honeymaren is the current shipp, it is obviously leading to a certain principle of rivalry. And a lot of people jumped on the theory that Elsa is a lesbian because of Elsa + Honeymaren, and now we have a new girl to steal some of the spotlight.
Tumblr media
I went through this myself in "Frozen 2" with the appearance of Elsa + Honeymaren to the detriment of Elsa + Marisol. As I said before, I had certain problems with "Frozen 2" at the beginning: I hated the separation of the sisters and that Marisol was technically replaced by Honeymaren. It took me a while to understand "Frozen 2" and accept ElsaMaren, and especially to understand that Honeymaren is the mainstream version of Marisol, the version that Disney could take to the cinema.
And so today we have an absence of the Northuldra tribe in material that precisely addresses the Enchanted Forest, and in Honeymaren's place we have Queen Disa who is appearing on the "Frozen Podcast" alongside her sisters.
A few days ago I made a post talking about the possibility that in “Frozen 3” instead of having an approximation of Elsa with Honeymaren, there would be an approximation of Elsa with an original woman, a more mainstream character and free for Disney to use in merchandising. And therefore be different from a woman linked to a tribe that exists in real life and that perhaps has some control over her image, as is perhaps the case with Honeymaren. And now we have Queen Disa.
I really don't believe that Queen Disa is in "Frozen 3", although a podcast released close to the franchise's anniversary is more mainstream than a book or a comic, I still don't think it's relevant enough to be the gateway to a character that it will be in a film... but I could be wrong, I never rule anything out.
Tumblr media
But unlike my initial problem with Honeymaren, I don't intend to create any resistance to the possibility of a new woman for Elsa. As long as it's a woman I have no problem.
And one last text about Elsa + Queen Disa vs Elsa + Honeymaren. Queen Disa and Honeymaren are almost opposites:
Disa seems to be much more extroverted while Honeymaren has already demonstrated that she has some problems speaking in public (Disney Magic Kingdoms).
Disa is a book girl, Honeymaren is a warrior.
Disa is knowledgeable in technology while Honeymaren has some knowledge in magic.
Disa is the girl of the city and modernity while Honeymaren is the girl of the forest and traditions.
Whether it was a coincidence or not, I found this interesting, and it's really easy to see Elsa pairing up with the two women: friendship beginning until an eventual romance.

A few days ago someone sent you an anon about how Elsa and Anna “look Asian” now. I never thought that, but Frozen 2 does bring up an issue... Are Elsa and Anna considered white? I always read that Sami were white and Kristoff is definitely white, but the Northuldra are drawn looking different from everyone else (especially the eye shape). Would Elsa and Anna be retroactively considered multiracial? Is Iduna white? She was darker as a kid then got lighter as an adult.
And adding onto the previous post, I’ve seen photos of Sami in the 1800s and they didn’t all look “white”. That makes things even more unclear.
-------------------------------------
Well, anon, I think this good questions should be addressed to Jenn Lee and Chris Buck.
I've asked myself the same things over the last 2 years, and I don't have an answer.
It seems to me, but it's just an impression, that Disney wanted to take distance from the "Elsa and Anna are multiracial aspect", because they said Iduna is not from that tribe anymore but from somewhere else. So I don't know how to take this...Even if they other tribe is still Sami, this confuses me. Why say it???? It feels like they wanted to take distance from it, you know? But as I said it's just a speculation, I don't know their intentions.
Or maybe they said Iduna is from another tribe just because Elsa and Anna don't look like the northuldra AT ALL. So why they made a Sami tribe, that doesn't look Sami at all? Because in americans minds natives are the native americans? Again, it's a speculation.
Another reason why F2 is a mess. I share your confusion, and I have no answers, just theories.
