Found out on Thanksgiving that my mom's most recent slew of health issues are from her MS letting JC virus really fuck her over. They haven't gotten any formal results yet, but it's possible that it'll branch off again into progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy which is a white matter fuckemup disease in the brain.

"PML can cause death as soon as a month after someone gets sick if they don't get treatment, but some people may live up to a year or rarely two."

She's always had MS, so all of this is just new flavors of "how can your myelin sheaths get more whack", just getting more severe.

Not sure what to think about all this, though. We don't have a good relationship, she's a narcissist, and every visit home reminds me of why I avoid it, or try to find a time she'll be sleeping so I can finally talk to my Gramma without my mom interrupting us to tell the repeated minutia of things like how the lottery rewards point prizes have changed. She's never been successful in therapy and is an agoraphobic, so that doesn't help, and it's impossible to actually have a conversation with her.

I feel I'm more preparing to mourn the idea of losing a mother, since I was always a coparent, or cared for her most of the time.

I've got a few months, hopefully, so maybe I can get a therapist before things hit the fan.
