On Monday Cara, Fiona and I did another wee look 😀 These amazing ladies jumped in to help me capture my idea for this week's Academy Challenge. My entry this week for the Girl Meets Brush - the ACADEMY challenge is task brief one 'Create A Character that is based on an Idea that has gone WRONG'. (The tasks are set for us each week in line with the BBC Show, Glow Up) ~ How far will we go for our idea of true beauty? Do we really know what we are putting in or on our skin? My look is a twist on animal testing, where the tester is now morphing with the animal - "we become what we absorb". She wanted her idea of true beauty so badly.... would go to any lengths to get it.... but really instead of testing on the animal, she is testing on herself! ~ This was my first time ever using prosthetics and well there is nothing like jumping in at the deep end! I made the whole piece from scratch using latex, scar wax with some padding underneath. I couldn't have done this without a bagful of encouragement and guidance from Cara and Fiona. Finally, a full figure sketch (minus the feet) that wasn’t a five-minute warm-up! 😱 ✍🏻 You know what, for all my worries about drawing figures and not thinking I was ‘there’ yet, this actually turned out pretty good!! Clearly the proportions are not perfect but I’m happy with it 🥰 ✍🏻 Also, I added the hair without a reference and that feels like an achievement 🙌🏻 I no longer draw the hair from reference every time (I still do for a few sketches, but mostly I try to draw what I want rather than exactly what I see). Making some new Body Butter with some organic Shea butter; getting creative and having fun playing around with new ingredients and new blends. Put some Organic Geranium Oil in this blend, I don’t often use Geranium in my body butters, although I do like to use it in my diffuser blends and around the home, but today I felt like trying a little in this body butter. So after much whipping and blending, I now have what I like to call my new Happy Butter! A happy and uplifting body butter deeply nourishing with its high Shea butter content. Decided to challenge myself and make a custom tank for my bearded dragon. Also, I needed new hides, so why not make those as well! Did some research on how to make it all safe for her, since it’s my first time. Started off hesitant, but I really like how the hide and basking platform came out, and decided to do something for the background as well (pictures of that later). I even got to practice using my airbrush! Using a 4 foot dresser so she can have plenty of room to move around and grow into. 🙂
