You know what relationship I'm obsessed with? JGY and LWJ. I feel like JGY's opinions about LWJ are barely any better than SMS's but you see. That's also Er-ge's beloved didi. Which means JGY will straight up kill for him. But also thank god LWJ politely declines to join them for tea.

I do love how LXC sees LWJ lowkey kidnapping a random guy who's hugging a donkey and his reaction is literally "Glad to see you're having fun, Wangji! This doesn't seem like a big enough crisis to delay my bureaucracy-themed date with A-Yao so I will ask no other questions. Don't magically gag our guest. Uncle wants to talk to you when you have time. Goodbye!"
This man's ability to mind his own business is admirable

It's so cute how the novel fandom has all the "How can LXC recognize NMJ's abs?" jokes and the drama fandom has all the "How does LXC know JGY's body has no curse marks?" jokes

My #1 post of 2022
One underrated aspect of MDZS is that usually when you have a love story where one of the lovers die, the lover who is alive is responsible for the dead person to come back to life. Think of princesses whose tears are life-giving, or princes who deliver the true love's kiss, or quests to the underworld seeking one's beloved. MDZS, though? LWJ is all but irrelevant when it comes to WWX's resurrection. So much so that even CQL, which plays up all romance tropes they possibly can, keeps that irrelevance

1, 10, 14, 36, and 43 for the dragon age ask meme!! :)
Tumblr media
101 Dragon Age Questions
1. How did you get into Dragon Age?
Short answer is Alex (mostly). Long answer is when we moved to a new town years ago, I was suuuuuper depressed and stuck at home while looking for work. He plopped me down in front of Mass Effect to pass the time. Was active on deviantart for a while writing fan fic and befriended someone (I miss you allelujah-kyrios, wherever you are *blows kiss into space*) who loved Alistair. She was the first one to kind of mention Dragon Age and I think I just kind of started playing some time after that when Alex bought it as a cheap bundle.
10. Share a pic of your favorite OC from any DA game.
Tumblr media
adfkjklasf it Eva.... because of course it is
14. Favorite DA:O party combo?
My canon Warden is a dual-wielding rogue, so I almost always go with Alistair, Morrigan and either Dog or Shale depending on how far I am. Force Morrigan to spec into healing when I pick up Wynne because that is both game sense and also HILARIOUS.
36. What kind of DLC do you hope for for DA:I DA4?
If it's essentially the end of the main series, I demand a Citadel-esque DLC. Give me the fan service, the closure, the happy sighs and laughter to process what undoubtedly will kill me in the main game. That or some sort of expansion-esque thing letting us explore Arlathan before the fall. Let me run around and read lore and talk to people and just... see this beautiful city. I'm a sucker for gorgeous city designs (Altissia from Final Fantasy XV is one of my favorites.)
43. Favorite romance overall so far?
THIS IS SO TOUGH WHYYYYYY. Ok I will cop-out with a bullshit which I personally adore as in would romance and which I love as an experience/narrative. First for the personal preference is Alistair. The big Ali-bear. My beloved. He's funny, sweet, compassionate, grows and matures along with you during your journey... I love him so much. Now for narrative... Solas. akwdjsflkas I KNOW OK. Listen though, I'm literally at the time of writing this languishing waiting for the last novel in a series that involves the main character romancing the embodiment of winter and death. Don't at me, I know my romance taste in books is absolute trash. But I cannot help my trash panda tendencies. It's forbidden romance, it's the longing, it's the heartache, *channeling readwithcindy * it's about the yearning. Anyway I like bittersweet romance and what's more bittersweet in DA romances than boyfriend ghosts you for two years, shows back up as Big Bad, monologues for five minutes, kisses you goodbye and takes your arm.
That's all of them! Thanks so much for the ask! I love doing these and rambling in something other than the tags for once. If anyone else wants to send one, the link to the list is at the beginning or here (x) if you don't want to scroll back up.

Did you slip in through open doors and sit down, just to look at me like that (every day) | Chapter 2 - Jaime I
Brienne doesn’t mean to lie to her father. She just wants him to stop trying to set her up with men who aren’t Jaime Lannister, whom she’s secretly in love with. Unfortunately, that’s exactly who eagerly inserts himself in the narrative as her fake boyfriend. And her father is coming to King’s Landing in two weeks.
Truly, what could go wrong?
Also on AO3. Still part of @jbmonthlymadness Mutual Pining March.
He is so, so fucked.
Not quite the same way he thought a week ago, but still very much fucked.
Jaime glances over to where Brienne is watching a game on the couch for what feels like the hundredth time this half hour. While that itself isn’t unusual, everything else is. Tenseness in her shoulders he isn’t sure he will lure out with a stupid joke and then slay with even worse one, the way they’ve barely spoken to each other today and that his heart is being harshly kneaded by some huge, clawed animal. He’d say it’s a lion, but considering his House that feels just a little cliche .
Though, according to Elia, he is a walking cliche and a terribly executed one, at that. He sighs, realizes that the beer bottle really isn’t where he’s blindly grabbing for it, and averts his gaze from his fake girlfriend. There is exactly one word too many in that title and it’s neither girl or friend. If only he could convince Brienne of the same.
Jaime has tried , he really has. Gotten up earlier to make sure he can prepare her coffee and go on a jog with her, kissed her goodbye on the cheek, pestered her into having a lunch during work hours and ordered takeout to arrive just after she got home the days he knew he’d be home even later than her, sent her obscure memes about animals he found on some nature activist group on Raventome that he frankly didn’t get but hoped she would and have a good laugh between work and more.
Granted, he does all these things regularly anyway (except the cheek kisses, but he isn’t sure they’re as much of a highlight of the day for her as they are for him), but now it’s daily. And it’s not a bother, like Brienne tries to convince him to think, and Jaime would gladly do it for the rest of the foreseeable future. Even waking an hour earlier, although he likes to think that if they were properly dating, he’d persuade her to explore other workouts they could do in the time without leaving the house.
Elia suggested it’s because she’s stressed about the convention, but Jaime knows better. (“Of course you do, that’s why you suggested to be her fake boyfriend instead of telling her you’ve been head over heels for her for years now.”) No, Brienne’s work has nothing to do with the skittishness in her eyes, the way she freezes when he presses lips to her delightfully reddening cheek, sometimes daring to brush corner of her mouth or lingering a second too long because her proximity makes him a little dizzy, or stumbles over conversations topics as if they are larger than boulders she can easily best when hiking. She doesn’t even shut down his flirtations anymore - instead she looks away and mumbles something or trips into the next topic.
Their new arrangement is the cause, and the realization has been rolling toward him like a house sized morning star down a gentle slope.
“Jaime? Movie’s starting,” subject of his sweet agony and worry calls out and Jaime realizes he has quite literally spaced out. And that perhaps his inner narrator is going a little overboard. Elia would have another laughing fit if she knew.
He grabs the snacks and another beer and presents them to her with a smile, falls heavily in his spot that earns a little bit of glare from Brienne because, of course, she’s concerned for the springs and one of these days he will tell her he can think of more interesting things to wreck their couch with. ‘One of these days’ feels like an awful stretch and ‘a mountainclimb later’ sort of thing, though. He heaves a sigh.
“Everything alright, Jaime?” she asks and he looks at her, armed with a bright smile and an easy no, when they crumble faced with concern that colors the blue of her eyes deeper, yet gilded shade like the last glimpse of sunset paints the sea. Of course Brienne finds time to worry about him, despite seemingly thinking she’s standing between two cannons labelled ‘work’ and ‘fake boyfriend’, ready to shoot.
He wants to pull her close and press a kiss to her furrowed brow so much he can physically feel an alternate reality, one where he’s braver and does just that, manifest.
Unfortunately, in this one Jaime only laughs and plops his head in her lap, facing the TV. “Of course I am, B. But if you’re so worried, you can always pet my head and tell me it’s going to be alright.” He likes it when she says that, the way she sets her jaw mulishly and seems to simply talk it into existence with sheer willpower and kindness. But never for herself, only others.
Brienne stills for a moment, then, much to his relief, makes indigant noise and pushes at his shoulder slightly but with no real force. “I’m not a cushion, Jaime” she tells him and he shifts just so he can grin up at her.
“C’mon, I’ve been a good boyfriend this week, have I not earned one lap cushion coupon? I must use it before it expires.”
“ Fake boyfriend,” she says seriously and Jaime looks at the screen again so she can’t witness his grin shattering like the window of Casterly Rock’s kitchen when he had been six and too eager while playing ball. He might feel even more chastised than after the lecture Tywin had given him, which had left a stone grinding sharp edge in his gut for a week.
“Fine, but I am not going to pet your head. You are not an overgrown housecat, no matter how much you may act as one,” Brienne relents, but by the end of the movie, she brushes back a strand he has shaken into his eyes and halfway through the second movie, she actually runs her hand through his hair and he barely manages to remain still, instead of following her hand like foam graces a wave’s edge.
All things considered, Jaime feels re-energized for the next week and his little war campaign on Brienne’s heart. He likes to think of it as war, though she is not a thing to conquer despite her truly formidable walls, just to trounce the narrative she has set for herself.
Once, before that fatefully shitty night when a pipe in his first own apartment burst and Brienne had invited him to stay over until it was fixed (and then he never really left), they had talked about who they would be in Targaryen and Stark eras, both revealing their dreams about knighthood.
Already knowing her love for ridiculous, historical(ly inaccurate) romance novels, he had joked if she’d not like ballads written about her instead, but Brienne’s face had shuttered and she had reminded him that no one would go to war for her . “I would rather defend the innocent and fight than stay home a sad and unmarried maid,” she had concluded, before going off about Blue Knight and other warrior women of Tarth. Jaime had already known back then that in any lifetime she’d be worthy of many great songs - of love and otherwise. But the bridge of their friendship was tentative still and he had had no intentions of being the one to lay the siege on her heart.
And when he had wanted to, he had already been so deep in the annoying, best friend role and still so utterly not having his shit together he didn’t feel he had the right to start the march. Someone better would surely come along. Except no one has, three years later still, and Brienne seems to think it’s a sign she only deserves a photoshopped suit-hanger and Jaime would rather be pierced endlessly by her glowering and risk her friendship that he treasures above anything he has ever known, than passively let her continue believing that.
For now, he’s only dying because of work, as they are currently quite swamped. It doesn’t help at all that his brain is a little (or a whole lot, but who’s counting) occupied with various Romance-Brienne-So-Hard-She-Doesn’t-Know-What-Hit-Her strategies. His plans for Friday come to immediate stop when he arrives home and finds Brienne fallen asleep at the kitchen table, her laptop’s screensaver of pixelated Kingslayer and Blue Knight from their favorite cartoon bouncing around the screen. He had installed it the first week of living here and despite her initial grumbling, she has never changed or disabled it.
This would be easier if Brienne’s one quirk when working at home wasn’t changing her workspace every few hours, as if it helps her think. It’s one of her most restless habits and typically, Jaime finds it adorable, but now that he has to haul half-asleep Brienne to her room he… Who is kidding, he also finds it endearing.
“Jaime, I can walk,” she scoffs, but leans on him anyway and when he helps her lay down on the bed, her eyes are soft and a little dazed and he thinks of early spring mornings, when nothing but the birds and clouds are awake yet, against the blueness of the sky.
Brienne curls up and he pulls a blanket over her and she gives him a sleepy smile, so warm that the consistent pull toward her feels anchored to the sun itself. He follows it and leans down and presses lips to her forehead. She exhales softly and when he pulls back, her eyes are closed, but there’s an almost sad turn to her lips.
“I really don’t want this to end, Jaime.” Her voice is so quiet he almost doesn’t hear - he wouldn’t if he wasn’t so close. His heart does an odd thing in his chest, something that would make it more of a rope dancer than a lion leaping through a ring of fire.
Jaime brushes a strand of her hair back, gently, in an attempt to reassure what odd fear has burrowed into her heart. He shouldn’t be so happy every time Brienne expresses she doesn’t want to lose him, but even her brilliant light can’t erase generations of carefully cultivated selfishness. “It doesn’t have to.”
“But it will.” And then she nuzzles deeper in the pillow and he knows this is a conversation to be finished (or maybe repeated) when she’s actually awake. Quietly, he walks out of the room and when the door has shut gently, bounces toward the living room with a grin that everyone would tell him begs for a punch.
There is hope for him yet.

Cuddle Buddies (1/?)
"Cuddle Buddies: professional platonic cuddling therapy services for the busy modern professional" are an entirely legitimate organization serving the touch-starved. Look, it's just been a long time since Steve's been in a relationship, and a guy has needs, you know? Sometimes after a long day of being a strong, hard-nosed solicitor, weathering insults and attacks from the opposing counsel and your own coworkers, you just want to have someone stroke your hair and tell you you're good. Bucky loves his job as a professional cuddler, providing non-romantic physical touch to people that need it, and when his new client turns out to be a pint-sized spitfire with a smile to die for, that's just a bonus.
Also on ao3.
"Rumlow, if I wake up tomorrow to find out that you've thrown my client on an airplane and deported her in the middle of the night I will have your ass in front of the bar association before you can blink," barked Steve into the phone held between his ear and shoulder, trying to get his keys out of his pocket one-handed. "You really think they're going to let this slide after last time?"
He paused for a second as the person on the other end of the line made a few abortive attempts at a response, then cut him off. "I'm turning off my phone now. If you still want to talk in the morning after considering my offer you can call me then, but if you pull any of your bullshit in the meantime, I will fucking ruin you."
Steve hung up the call with a flourish and shouldered his front door open, throwing his phone into a basket on an occasional table before closing the door behind him and leaning against it, rubbing his eyes exhaustedly. Being a hard-ass human rights lawyer was all very well and good during the work day, but by the time he got home Steve was more than ready to shed his tough persona and let himself be soft.
The suit jacket was the first to go, shrugged off his slim shoulders and slipped onto a hanger. Then, his smart, shiny shoes were slipped off and replaced with warm, thick socks. He swapped his starched shirt for an old, lived-in hoodie, and his neatly pressed slacks for sweatpants. His black briefcase found a home in the spare room he used as an office, and he shut the door after it, mentally shutting away his work life. He ran his hand through his smartly-combed hair to muss it up and rolled his shoulders back, taking a few deep breaths and letting the stress of his day roll off him.
He wandered around the living room, picking up a blanket from the steamer trunk by the window, drawing the curtains, and switching on the electric fireplace which filled the space with warmth and low, flickering light. He picked up his personal phone from the coffee table and sent a quick text to Sam to let him know he made it home safely, sent a thumbs up to Darcy in response to a terrible meme she'd sent him, and briefly considered video calling Peggy before remembering that she was in a conference in Singapore.
He flopped down onto the couch and wrapped himself up tight in the blanket, enjoying its weight on his shoulders. Opening his laptop, he coughed in embarrassment when the tab that he'd opened in a fit of loneliness last night popped up. "Cuddle Buddies: professional platonic cuddling therapy services for the busy modern professional" seemed to be an entirely legitimate organization serving the touch-starved, and they had excellent reviews.
Steve did his best to keep his work and home lives separate, but lately it was getting difficult to switch off from his worries when he was lying in bed at night, going over details from his cases while he tossed and turned on his pillows.
He scrolled through the information on the website one more time, thinking about how it might feel to invite a stranger into his home to cuddle him. Would it be uncomfortable? Would they think he was pathetic?
Putting aside the laptop for a minute, he ambled back into the kitchen to re-heat some shepherd's pie and put on the kettle for a cup of tea, climbing on a step stool to reach the mugs. His fingers and toes still a little chilly from the crisp autumn evening outside, he decided to fill up a hot water bottle, tucking it carefully into its fluffy case and holding it under his arm as he brought his dinner and drink back to the table. After a couple of bites of the pie, he pulled out a neat little wicker basket from under the table and took out his evening medications. Tapping the pills into his hand, he swallowed them with a gulp of tea and took a couple of huffs of his steroid inhaler for good measure, before getting back to his meal.
Steve may have lost the genetic lottery when it came to his height and his abysmal health, but the gods had seen fit to bless him with more than his share of sheer, bloody-minded scrappiness, which he felt more than made up for it.
Once he'd cleared the plate away and made himself a second cuppa, he opened up a book on his e-reader and held the comforting, warm weight of the hot water bottle to his chest, wondering idly, not for the first time, whether he should get a cat. He was a couple of chapters into a mediocre romance novel when he started tapping his fingers, thinking.
After a brief moment of indecision, he grabbed the laptop with renewed certainty and began to type a request into the website.
Bucky was just waving goodbye to Nat as he walked away from their session when his phone chimed, alerting him that there was a new customer inquiry that the agency wanted him to look at.
Maria: 28 yo man in Red Hook interested in trying cuddle therapy to help with work stress. Would prefer male therapist. Due to asthma, no cologne or scented products, and non-smokers only.
He smiled, and shot off a quick affirmative response. Maria often sent him their new clients - there was something about him that reassured people if they felt a little unsure about the services. Bucky was perfectly happy with his chosen profession - non-romantic physical touch was, in his opinion, essential for a happy life, and he got to provide it to people that needed it. Bucky liked to observe people and through his job he'd met a wide array of curious characters, so the work was never boring.
Also, the pay was amazing and Alpine would only eat the expensive cat food, so there was that.
He continued on his journey, enjoying the changing leaves on the trees around him and the chill in the air. Just as he was about to step onto the subway, his phone buzzed again, and after he found a seat he saw that Maria had sent him the phone number for his new client. He sent off his standard greeting straight away, eager to get his schedule firmed up.
Bucky: Hi Steve, this is Bucky from the Cuddle Buddies agency. When works for you for our first meeting? Looking forward to working with you!
Steve: Thanks for getting back to me. Saturday evening would be best for my schedule. Can I pay the $80 fee via bank transfer? -Steven Grant Rogers, Shield Solicitors
The response came immediately, and was far more businesslike than his usual interactions with clients. Still, Bucky could be businesslike. He even owned a tie.
Bucky: You sure can - the agency should send you out a contract tonight with the bank details. I can do Saturday at 7 if that suits.
Steve: Saturday at 7 sounds fine. What are the terms of the contract?
Of course, Mr. Lawyer Man wanted to know about the contract.
Bucky: It lays out what to expect in our interactions - we provide purely non-sexual services - as well as how to deal with cancellations, how we protect your privacy, and the billing structure.
Steve: Thank you. I look forward to meeting you on Saturday.
Bucky shook his head, wondering how this stuffy, formal guy was going to act during their cuddle session.
Steve didn't have the opportunity to start feeling anxious about his cuddle appointment because the negotiations with the lawyers at the ICE detention center took up every moment of his time. He was wrapping up his conversation with a client via email in his home office when his alarm chimed to let him know that he had half an hour until Bucky arrived.
After stretching his arms over his head, wincing at the tightness of his shoulders after slouching all day, he stripped out of the pajamas he was still wearing and indulged in a long, hot shower, scrubbing away his stress and emerging pink-cheeked and fluffy-haired. In his bedroom, he changed into a soft blue flannel shirt and a pair of pants that looked like slacks but felt like sweatpants, and another pair of his warm, fuzzy socks.
Pacing around his living room, his nerves ramping up, he selected a different blanket to leave ready on the couch and checked twice on his selection of teas. He had just put the kettle on to boil when the buzzer sounded.
On opening the door, he was immediately reassured to see that Bucky had a friendly, engaging grin, and was wearing a soft, knitted sweater. He held out a hand to shake and then immediately felt like an idiot, but Bucky just grasped Steve's cold hand with his warm one and squeezed it.
"Hi, you must be Steve," said Bucky with a pleasant Brooklyn drawl. Without being asked, he pulled a Cuddle Buddies ID card out of his pocket and handed it over to Steve, who checked the details on it and handed it back.
"Nice to meet you," said Steve stiffly. "Please, come on in. I'm just making a cup of mint tea, do you want one?"
"That'd be perfect, Steve. Mind if I take my shoes off?"
"Go ahead," replied Steve with a thin smile, attending to the whistling kettle.
"Thanks," said Bucky when he accepted his cup of tea. Steve couldn't help but notice that Bucky was wearing mis-matched but co-ordinating socks, one with red stars on a white background, and the other with white stars on a red background. He ushered Bucky to take a seat on the couch and sat in the armchair opposite. Bucky's posture was loose and open, but Steve was sitting bolt upright and jiggling his leg nervously. Fortunately, Bucky chose to take the lead in the conversation.
"So, I usually start first sessions with clients by talking about what your goals are for therapy," he began with a reassuring smile. "For example, some clients are looking to feel more comfortable with physical touch, some want to get over a breakup, or reduce stress, and some are just looking for companionship."
"I guess the companionship and stress things," said Steve after thinking for a moment. "My job takes a lot out of me, so I don't really have the time to pursue a relationship, but I do miss that human touch."
Bucky smiled gently, as though what Steve had said wasn't anything out of the ordinary. "What do you do?"
"I'm a lawyer, I mostly represent people who are in danger of deportation," said Steve automatically.
"That sounds rewarding," replied Bucky encouragingly.
"It is," agreed Steve, "but it's incredibly draining. I have to be so hard and tough all the time. Sometimes I think it would be nice to just be..." He tailed off, unsure how to finish his sentence.
"Soft?" supplied Bucky.
Steve smiled, feeling more comfortable despite his misgivings. "Yeah."
"Thank you for being so open with me, Steve," said Bucky, reaching over to squeeze Steve's knee. "If you don't have a particular preference for how we start, how about you join me on the couch and I put my arms around you. Does that sound good?"
Suddenly shy, Steve nodded and moved to sit next to Bucky, who immediately wrapped his big arms around Steve's shoulders and pulled Steve into his broad chest. As requested, Bucky wasn't wearing any fragrance, but he still smelled good, like fresh laundry and crisp autumn air, with an undercurrent of clean skin.
As he relaxed into Bucky's embrace, Steve tried to remember the last time he'd been held so gently. He was a regular recipient of Sam's big bear hugs and Darcy's chest-crushing squeezes, but he hadn't had a long-term romantic partner since law school, and his career didn't leave him a lot of free time to look for one.
"How does that feel?" asked Bucky in a low, soothing voice, gently rubbing at Steve's shoulder.
"Really good," breathed Steve.
"I'm glad," said Bucky gently. "How about I lie down on my back here and you snuggle up to my chest?"
Steve nodded his assent and Bucky released him slowly, and then rolled over to lie along the couch, opening up his arms so that Steve could slot himself in to rest his head on Bucky's warm chest. The knit of his sweater was soft against Steve's face, and one of Bucky's big hands came up to cup the back of Steve's head, rubbing small circles at the base of his skull with his fingertips.
"Thanks for not wearing cologne," said Steve, sounding muffled.
"Pal, I think you sneezing in my face would be worse for me than for you," laughed Bucky, the sound rumbling through his chest.
"It's not my sexiest move," agreed Steve, burrowing deeper into the soft warmth of Bucky's body.
Steve hadn't expected that conversation would carry on easily while they were cuddling - he predicted awkward silences and a feeling of general embarrassment - but they continued chatting while Bucky carded his fingers through Steve's hair, and he felt himself dropping deeper and deeper into a calm state of relaxation.
"So why'd you become a lawyer?" asked Bucky in a low voice, barely breaking into the spell he was casting over Steve.
"Ma came over here from Ireland to work as a nurse," replied Steve drowsily, "and when my pa died, she ran into some trouble with some of her immigration paperwork. There was a lawyer who worked pro bono to stop her from getting deported... the guy really changed our lives."
"So now you help other people the same way."
"I try to. How'd you get into professional cuddling?"
"After I got out of the army, I used to go for counseling sessions at the VA. Took a couple of years, but eventually I started on a course to be a counselor myself. A lot of those guys are so touch-starved, you know? My friend got the idea to start up a cuddling service and I jumped at the chance. It's been my full-time job for three years now."
Digesting this information, Steve was silent for a moment. He wouldn't have pegged Bucky as a soldier given how open and relaxed he was, but Sam didn't seem like an air force pilot, so you never knew. He cast around for a follow-up question. "Are there a lot of cuddling agencies in the world?" he settled on eventually.
"Oh yeah, it's a real growth industry. There's even a book called the Cuddle Sutra."
Steve scoffed. "You're kidding me, people write books about this stuff?"
Bucky cuffed him gently on the back of the head. "Shut up, punk. That's my profession you're besmirching."
"Are you allowed to tell your clients to shut up?" smirked Steve, never happier than when he was being a little shit.
"Only if they're being a punk," grumbled Bucky, wrapping an arm around the back of Steve's shoulders to pull him closer.
Over the course of the next forty five minutes, Steve learned more about Bucky's family, his asshole cat, his collection of semi-dead succulent plants, and his opinions on the present administration of the country. Bucky managed to wheedle Steve into talking about the bullying he faced at work, the stress of not having as many resources as he needed to help everyone he worked with - and he very nearly managed to get him to disclose his mother's recipe for shepherd's pie, and was only stopped by the threat that the ghost of Sarah Rogers would haunt him until he died.
Between the cozy warmth of Bucky's body, the soothing cadence of his voice, and the way his minty breath ghosted over Steve's forehead when he chuckled, Steve was pretty much in heaven, wrapped up in comfort. When Bucky's phone started to vibrate in his pocket, they both let out a little noise of annoyance.
"'Fraid that's my alarm. How'd you enjoy your first session?" asked Bucky, still stroking lines down Steve's back.
Steve hummed contentedly. "Worth every penny," he replied, sitting up and stretching his arms over his head.
"I'm really glad," said Bucky sincerely, squeezing his shoulder before standing up and heading towards his shoes. "Same time next week?"
"That'd be perfect. Thanks, Bucky. For everything."
"No problem," he replied with a genuine grin, fishing his phone out of his pocket. "Now I'd better call Maria before she gets the cops after me to make sure I haven't been murdered in a back alley somewhere."
"I'm glad they care so much about your safety."
"I love my job," laughed Bucky as he let himself out the front door, waving goodbye to Steve as he put the phone to his ear.
Steve spent some time smiling and waving like a goof until Bucky rounded the corner, at which point he finally shook himself awake and shut and locked his door. It was only eight PM but after a few nights of fractured sleep he was ready to follow his relaxed, sleepy feeling straight to bed.
After he pottered around the room, straightening up and putting things away, he brushed his teeth and jumped onto his big, comfortable bed, where he rolled himself up in his comforter like a burrito. He was asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.

Hello! Could I have a matchup? I’m a 5’4 ISFP Aries girl, my friends usually call me Alyssa, I like to dress in e-girl fashion, for fun I like to read manga, play games (usually visual novels), or go biking, i don’t talk a lot at first, but I’m really loud with the people I trust, I like sending cryptic memes to freak my friends out lol, I make a lot of dirty jokes despite the fact that I’m really shy, I also loove animals! I own 3 cats and I love them dearly
A/N: Hi Alyssa! Lmao at the cryptic message part You’re sooo cute!
As for romance, I ship you with one of my favourites boys in HQ:
————————————
Tumblr media
Tendo Satori 💚
One of the biggest key traits of an ISFP personality is that they go through life with a “live and let live” approach and response
If you remember the scene when Shiratorizawa lost in the finals and Tendo responded with goodbye and didn’t even cry, I knew he was the man for you
You seem like such a nice ISFP girl and I think Tendo would gravitate toward you
He was relentlessly bullied when he was young and the fact that you are so caring, cheerful and spontaneous: “you were very easy to fall in love with” says Ten
🥺🥺
Your boyfriend is so cute he will join you in playing/reading visual novels and you guys will discuss the drama in it like it’s a tv show
But it’s unconventional and there’s something sweet in the fact that it’s your thing between the two of you
He loves biking with you and on a cute date idea he brings you on a scenic route in Japan that you were able to stop and eat food, go to the fair, stop to see bike races, and you ended up having a great time:
Tumblr media
Tendo is a Taurus to your Aries so he is very passionate and he loves hard:
Tumblr media
He lights up when you got comfortable enough with him to talk a lot and that’s when he almost suffocated you with how hard he hugged you
You were fine though 😊💞
As for your dirty jokes, your man loves when you make them because he just thinks there are so many layers to you and he is just enamoured with your entirety
The same girl who plays visual novels looking sweet and oh so innocent also has a dirty mind?
TENDO SAID HE WANTS TO TRY OUT FOR ALYSSA’S TEAM 📝
He’s always singing your graces of you and his adoptive children (your cats❤️❤️❤️❤️) to everyone he knows and it makes you blush profusely
But the funniest thing is when you send Tendo cryptic messages because he NEVER understands them but he swears he does
So he will come over to your place answering to your message confidently but making no sense
but he is SO sure that’s what you meant
You will laugh so hard because he is really trying to convince you of what you already know and you just settle for kissing him and telling him that he’s right 💕
It’s important to mention that since you dress like an egirl you look fairly intimidating
Beautiful all the same....
But a bit similar to your boyfriend who people used to call a monster :(
You’re both so unique and you don’t follow the crowd, it’s amazing and that’s what drew you to one another and that’s why your connection is so much stronger than all those fake relationships
Not to mention SATORI IS FINEEEEEEEEE 🤤😍😍
You two have a very playful but passionate relationship in which two souls chose to see eachother as more than skin deep .

“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.”
Despite it being midterm season here at school and the fact that I just do not have time to succumb to a new obsession, I have made a way where once there was no way. I recently started rewatching the Lizzie Bennet Diaries and they have been so addicting to binge.
I love Lizzie’s personality, how she’s focused on her goals of finishing grad school in a subject that she’s passionate about – new media. I love her interpretations of her mother. Ashley Clements is an amazing actress. The way she acts as her mother is exactly how I would expect Mrs. Bennet from the books to speak and react. More recently, I’ve come across Lizzie’s impression of Catherine de Bourgh and I am utterly impressed. I literally laughed out loud so hard, she is just too darn good at impressions.
Lately, I’ve gone back to Tumblr looking at the Pride and Prejudice memes but also classic literature memes in general. I just think it’s so cool that there is a world of people who enjoy reading as much as you do and that after you read, you can go and essentially laugh at all the characters you just learned to love.
The themes of Jane Austen’s novel were groundbreaking at the time – marriage based on love, the value of money and its effect on happiness, and the way class distinctions were portrayed in Regency society. The translation of these themes to the Lizzie Bennet diaries is well done and the humor expressed by Lizzie mirrors Austen’s wit in her original work. There is something special about the journey you take with the characters of P&P. In Austen’s work, it’s from pride and prejudice based on class and a terrible first impression to a shared understanding, gratitude, and mutual love. In LBD, it’s Lizzie’s lovely obsession with her irritation of Darcy to a genuine respect and care for one another.
There is just something that literature does. It moves slowly and surely, warming the characters up to you that by the end of the novel, it is quite devastating to say goodbye.
Two household both alike in dignity, in fair Purrona
Several for Pride and Prejudice
If anything, literary web series have inspired my love of media and how technology can create connections through the stories that are being told. Isn’t it amazing how you can learn more about Pride and Prejudice, be along for the ship that is Darcy and Lizzie, and enjoy the costume theater and emotional portrayals of all the characters?
There is something wonderful in classic literature – whether it is commentary on society – but even more wonderful is the adaptation of the commentary to modern day times so viewers like myself can bring new life and joy to such a powerful story.
Classic novels are great stories but they are also reflections of the time they were written in. Jane Austen’s novels were a reflection of family life and societal expectations in the 18th century Regency era. Charles Dickens wrote about poverty in London during the Industrial Revolution.
For me, though I should be studying about religion and news media and writing papers, I am really grateful to get lost in a world that is not my own. To enjoy stepping into someone else’s story. I love the modern way of interacting with their stories through memes, and even the memes themselves can cause their own bouts of laughter.
Here’s a collection:
If you are looking for web series that won’t get you hooked in a Netflix kind of way, will educate you and make you laugh, look no further:
  Lizzie Bennet Diaries
Lizzie’s personality is incredible, witty, and fun. Her interpretations using costume theater has been one of my favorite components. The actors are amazing in the series. The downside is you’re waiting until episode 60 to meet Darcy but he is well worth the wait. The ending is a little different from the books, and honestly, it is better. Set in modern times with an incredibly clever adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, I love the Lizzie Bennet Diaries.
  Carmilla
Carmilla is truly wonderful because of the romance between Laura and Carmilla. It’s binge-worthy. It’s hilarious and it’s the only web series I’ve seen with the supernatural done really well. If you’re looking for queer representation, Carmilla is the way to go.
  The Cate Morland Chronicles
Before I rewatched LBD for the 3rd time, I stumbled across the Cate Morland Chronicles. It’s based on Austen’s Northanger Abbey, which I’ve never read but need to. This is the 2nd adaptation of Northanger I’ve seen – the first one being Northbound, which was fun and entertaining – but Chronicles has a twist. Cate is a self-professed and self-evident fangirl. She loves Marvel, Stars Wars, and Harry Potter. She’s all in for being a fan. She’s an aspiring journalist with a successful blog on being a fangirl, and what she’s really obsessed with is Udolpho. This series was nicely done in tying in the book in such a natural way – making Cate a fangirl was brilliant! She rants about not being taken seriously for the stories she loves. The romance builds over time and everyone’s characteristics are revealed over time.
  Jules and Monty
Jules and Monty is about Juliet and Romeo. Home to various memes – all of which I love. It was created by two college sophomores – the main leads – and it’s so well done. It takes the original families are turns them into opposing fraternities. I highly recommend this one if you love Shakespeare’s original language and any stories of young love.
  Nothing Much To Do
Nothing Much To Do is about a great group of friends in their last year of high school living out the Much Ado About Nothing. The main videos are about Beatrice and Benedick who vlog about how much they hate each other. We watch in anticipation as their countenance towards each other changes, all the while enjoying Hero, Dogberry, and Verges. Balthazar is a wonderful surprise with this talent in music. All around, it’s a fun web series to watch.
If you have nothing much to do, consider getting into a literary web series!
Signing off,
Gigi
Do you want any web series? If you do, send me some memes!
All memes found via Tumblr, Twitter, or Instagram. None are my own.

Five Flavours | Poly first-years, T, 1.3k
NaNoWriMo Day 30: Free Day Combo Shuffle Challenge, Social Media, and Dialogue-only fic.
Summary: Yet another collection of ficlets/drabbles featuring my favourite first years.
Rules: 1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like. 2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle. 3. Write a ficlet/drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it’s over. No lingering afterwards! 4. Do ten of these, and then post them.
TW: Canon-typical anxiety.
Read on Ao3
A/N: Decided to go with another Shuffle Challenge because I will single-handedly resurrect this meme. Apparently, I will also fill the first-years OT5 tag loooool. Un-beta’d once again and it very much shows  /o\
Gold Rays – Vinyl Pinups
They go to the beach the first chance they all get. Summer heat beats down on everything, water glinting under the sunlight.
Hitoka brings swimming tubes for her and Tobio because neither of them can swim. Kei teases Tobio endlessly about it but helps him out nonetheless when the three of them decide to go swimming.
Shouyou and Tadashi stay on the beach to build a giant sandcastle. The craftsmanship is clearly Tadashi’s doing, but Shouyou vehemently insists that he helped with the shovel work.
At the end of the day, Shouyou posts a photo on his account:
littlegiant.10 • 3 minutes ago perfect!!!
(Image: Shouyou, Tobio, Tadashi, and Kei surrounding a large sandcastle. Hitoka sits at the centre with her legs crossed. All of them beam wide at the camera.)

Cough Syrup – Young the Giant
Kei catches the flu because his partners are awful and spread the infection to him. He stays home from classes one day because his head cold is so bad he can’t see straight.
He lies in bed for the majority of the day, sleeping underneath his bedsheets sweaty and uncomfortable, but what other choice does he have? He can barely sit up straight, much less move around like he’d much rather be doing. Akiteru would probably drag him back to bed if he tried anyway.
He stirs up from his nap at some point, awakening to see four pairs of eyes blinking down at him. Their faces are hidden by medical masks, so their eyes are really all he sees in his fever induced haze.
“Kei-kun?” a sweet voice says. “Are you okay?”
He coughs, which seems to be answer enough for all of them.
“We brought cough syrup, Tsukki!”
“It’s on the bedside.”
“Sorry for getting you sick, I guess.”
Kei can’t distinguish the voices from each other, but he returns to sleep with the familiar, comforting sounds of his favourite people in the world.
Boy Without A Heart – Jojo
Kei is much colder than Hitoka ever realized.
Everyone warns her, that she missed the awful time when they all first began playing together and Kei was the most infuriating person they’d ever met, that by the time she came around he dialled down his angst and snark. Tadashi tries to defend him, of course, but eventually even his protests are silenced by the others.
“Yachi,” Tobio says gravely, “are you sure you want to date him too?”
“Yeah, we’re happy with Yamaguchi already,” Shouyou says.
Kei rolls his eyes, walking out the room. Hitoka takes this as her cue to follow him. She walks out the door, sprinting to catch up to Kei.
“Kei-kun!” she calls out. “Kei-kun, wait!”
He doesn’t listen, continuing to walk away. When he turns the corner without a word, Hitoka stops, slightly shocked. He’s never ignored her before.
“Told you,” Tobio says behind her, and she turns around to she see both her boyfriends catching up to her.
“He just...” Tadashi begins, struggling. “Needs time.”
Hitoka bites her lip, unable to help herself when she stares back down the path where Kei disappeared.
Love Story – Taylor Swift
Their love isn’t forbidden like in fairy tales, or romance dramas, or the cheesy light novels they all know Kei likes to read sometimes.
The five of them grappled with their feelings for a long time before they ever came to any sort of understanding, even longer until they achieved the comfortable relationship they have now. First, there were boundaries. Then, there was the fact that Kei, Shouyou and Tobio usually wanted to tear each other’s heads off if they had the chance. And, of course, Hitoka and Tadashi had their anxiety to deal with. It was a huge mess until they sorted everything out.
They couldn’t even consider the larger picture about how everyone else would feel about them, too caught up in their emotions about each other to care about what society would say. But they each knew they wanted this, were willing to put up with whatever came their way as long as they got to do it together.
The day their landlord handed them the keys to their own place—a huge apartment that could fit all five of them, their first ever home—they celebrated with a quiet night in.
Reading Letters – P.S. I Love You Soundtrack
Hitoka opens her old high school notebooks, reading letters she both wrote and received.
Bittersweet nostalgia hits her like a wave, and she smiles through her tears when she finally reaches the last page:
A photograph of all five of them.
Pretend (Reprise) – Lights
Some days, the anxiety wins.
They each handle those days differently. Shouyou and Tadashi prefer to have the others doting on them with sympathy. Tobio and Kei prefer to seclude themselves so they could sort through their feelings first, careful because they don’t want to hurt their partners in their angst. Hitoka prefers a little bit of both.
At the end of the day though, all of them want their lovers close by so they could welcome a better tomorrow together.
BG Låten [8-bit Remix] – Spelling Phailer
Shouyou naively announces having a video game competition, so Kei easily hands the other boys’ asses to them. They all knew that Kei was better than Tadashi, and infinitely better than both Tobio and Shouyou.
Hitoka was a true dark horse.
“I, um,” she squeaks, cheeks flushed red when she sees everyone’s jaws hanging, “I like to play on my phone sometimes? And I’m comfortable with consoles since I do computer stuff a lot.”
“You beat me.” Kei’s tone easily conveys his shock.
“AMAZING, YACCHAN!” Shouyou yells, jumping onto her.
The others follow him, piling on top of their girlfriend in a giant heap. She giggles, delighted to accept their congratulations.
Sour Candy – Carly Rae Jepsen ft. Josh Ramsay
Kiyoko loved Hitoka.
Hitoka was passionate and eager, anxious but headstrong. After she first recruited Hitoka, the younger girl hung onto Kiyoko’s every word like she hung the stars. Kiyoko loved watching her grow and appreciate the sport, fall in love with the team and their camaraderie.
She didn’t expect that Hitoka falls for the team in a romantic sense too.
She and Hitoka tried to make things work after Kiyoko’s graduation, but they both knew the distance was too hard for them. Their relationship ended amicably, and though it hurt Kiyoko so much more than she could have ever anticipated, she knew that Hitoka was in good hands.
She watches in the distance when the five of them pass by—hands and arms happily clasped onto one another—and smiles.
Otter Pop – Shawn Wasabi
“Here you go: popsicles! Blue for Tobio, orange for Shouyou, lemon for Hitoka, strawberry for Tsukki.”
“Thanks, Tadashi-kun!”
“F’ank yhew!”
“Thanks.”
“Mm.”
“Ah, so refreshing!”
(grin)
“Tadashi-kun, are you gonna eat yours?”
“Oh, yes!”
“What flavour did you get?”
“Melon.”
“Aw, lemme try!”
“Okay, just don’t get your slobber over it.”
“I won’t!”
“He will.”
“Shut up, Tobio!”
“Guys, can we just enjoy ourselves, please?”
(sigh)
“Apparently not without a fight.”
Best Starships Ever (Nicki Minaj vs 1D) – Remix by Mikolo Mashups
They go to the beach after graduation, inviting the entire volleyball team to celebrate the end of the year as well as wishing the third-years goodbye.
Shouyou and Tobio are in charge of games and music, Tadashi and Kei in charge of food and drinks, and Hitoka covers all planning and decorating. The first- and second-years offer to pitch in with the prep but the five of them insist on doing this for the rest of the team.
They have a wonderful time by the sea, getting sunburnt under the sky, salt and sand lingering on their skin after playing in the water. They stay until well into the night, lighting up a bonfire at Shouyou’s request.
Portable speakers blast the best pop songs of the year, and they dance around the flames with laughter and smiles on their lips.

For the trope meme: Dramatic Handholding (You did mention Regency romance)
Send me a Trope and I’ll rate it!
No | rather not | I dunno | I guess | Sure | Yes | FUCK yes | Oh god you don’t even know |
Rand omg. I literally just read a novel where the two mains spend most of it hating each other and then finally fall in love and then can’t be together and when they say goodbye they hold hands for the first time and I was wrecked. It was so well done.
Maybe this is just my ace ass, but I adore the idea of a little, chaste touch still being so meaningful. Holding hands in general is such a sweet gesture, too--the physical manifestation of the connection you feel. (It’s good in the UST department too, if you want to go that direction, because it’s like...just a little taste, haha.)

PLEASE GIVE ME ALL YOUR FLUFFY ITSUKYON HEADCANONS IM TH I R S T Y FOR THEM
Tumblr media
WOW REPLYING A MOTH AFTER RECEIVING GOOD JOB RIN ;;; I’m really sowwy my old fat kitty got ill and we changed vets and until now nobody knew what’s happening so I was so – stressed — it’s probably not much as I’m much better in collecting my thoughts while talking to a person so feel free to hmu privately !!! publishing I hope you don’t mind ?? also those hcs are in relation to my post-canon universe when they’re roommates so domestic fluff
» itsuki is the most affectionate and touch-starved we all know it ;; u ;; definitely expect a lot of accidental touches, brushing and staying way too close which is a bit suspicious, but his fangirls refuse to believe he has a thing for guys. but he is. really. gay.
» in private kyon absolutely loves cuddling. it makes him feel more dominant wow you gotta feed his ego when he can wrap his arms around itsuki. it’s still really awkward, magnetic hands, umm how do I do it ??? but itsuki just leans forward so it’s ok
» koizumi is the little spoon fight me  (ง'̀-‘́)ง  it makes him feel more secure, especially after important agency meeting / important agency training / important agency bullshit as kyon is his grip on reality
» being little spoon means a lot of hair tangling bc this hair smells soooo gooooodddd – itsuki has the most ridiculous bedhair ever. the fact that kyon drools on him doesn’t help XD he still loves you but tape your mouth pls
» it was kyon who kinda made the first move ;;; itsuki was always in love with him and he already somehow dealt with it, but as they started living together and haruhi became more stable = koizumi being allowed to act more frivolous and more himself so ??? wow he’s so cute why haven’t I noticed this before ??? plus such a good friend gay alert gay alert
» hey uh, let’s go somewhere sometimes ok ? no, don’t call haruhi, just us. just us guys, you know. doing guy things. together.
» koizumi is the instagram diva, he mastered art of selfies so well that it’s very pleasant to scroll through them as they’re all taken from different angle so you won’t get bored, sometimes he uploads photos of sos brigade. kyon often tries to sabotage itsuki’s selfies when they’re home like sticking natto into his hair wHAT THE FUCK YOU DOING and they actually get uploaded with funny caption. kyon has 2 photos, one of shami and one of himself in gas mask.
» they have separate beds but often sleep together, platonically or not it takes some time for both of them to get out when they do because kyon has absolutely the strongest sleep hug ever. ever. not even your tiny abs from fighting monsters are going to help you itsuki you can’t escape the hug ;; _ ;;
» marvel trashes. absolutely. both kyon and itsuki love fantasy / action movies like dc and marvel soooo movie dates
» itsuki is also a secret otaku and collects BL novels, action figures, shameless homoerotic pornography, keychains, this extra money must go somewhere right XD kyon is a normie and just reads trashy romances from time to time.
» while browsing otp memes I encountered a question “who wears pants in relationship” and I can’t really answer it as their relationship is pretty laid-back ?? although if we were to divide male and female archetypes itsuki is definitely a wife. like giving kyon a goodbye kiss and scolding him for washing his clothes at short notice, things like that > v

Traveling: A Marshfield oneshot
Waiting at an airport really blows.
The drive to LAX was already torture, next you’re stuck waiting in line just to check-in bags, then you have to go to another line and take off your shoes and all metal on your body, and then you have to rush to put your shoes back on and grab your shit again.
Now, I waited near the gate. It was a one-way fly to Tokyo, on a mission to cross another thing off the bucket list and take as many photos as possible. For the first time, I get to go and travel alone. I didn’t have much of a plan except for aimless walking and restaurant hopping.
I faced myself towards the large windows, looking out to the runways and all the planes arriving and departing. There were already lots of people sitting in these uncomfortable, way too low black seats, eating food from the many available restaurants from the food court or sleeping with their headphones and neck pillows. Times like this felt slow, because everyone just wanted to get on the plane already. Another lucky thing, I sat right next to a couple of power outlets to charge my phone. Social media was my best friend in times like this: Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, even Facebook.
Two hours of nothing passed. I huffed as I went through Tumblr again, refreshing over and over again to see new posts or memes. When I refreshed the dashboard for the fifth time, I put my phone down and observed my surroundings. It was vacation time and seeing so many people in this one terminal, I was convinced this flight was overbooked. On top of that, the letter on my ticket was “D”, the last group of people to get on a plane.
My eyes locked onto someone with blonde hair in a nicely done bun. She sat alone at the end of the row in front of me, looking through her phone and had her over-stuffed backpack on her lap. Right next to her was a big burger pillow.
She’s cute, I thought. I contemplated talking to her, but just like me, she was scrolling through her phone and had earphones in.
“The time now is 10:10 AM. Now boarding Priority on Delta flight 212 to Haneda Airport.”
I stayed sitting down, since my group isn’t until the end. The line in front of the gate was already incredibly long and disorganized.
It took another twenty minutes before it was my group’s turn. I put my backpack on and held my ticket. The girl I saw earlier was holding the burger pillow under her arm and was a few people behind me; she was getting an upgrade for sure.
When it was my turn, there was a longer delay. I watched the various screens of when we board and showing different cities and what the weather was like over there.
“There are no more seats in economy, would you like to upgrade to business class?”
“Oh, yes, that’s fine.”
Nothing screamed “cramped” more than the inside of an airplane. Seeing the rows of blue seats, trying to squeeze in two or three people into a row, having to make personal space to sleep or go use the even smaller restrooms. At least there were TV screens to watch movies on.
My expectations were high for the business cabin, but some perks included more leg room and bigger screens. I was still going to have to sit next to someone, but it wouldn’t be as awkward.
I put my carry-on bags in the cubby above my seat and sat next to the window. My first instinct was to start looking through compartments and try to play around with the screen in front of me. The screen wasn’t working yet and all I found was a manual for the life vests and the Sky Mall magazine.
I went through my phone again, looking through Tumblr once more. I took a picture of my shoes to upload on Instagram.
Heading to Tokyo, I added a little airplane emoji.
A person sat in the seat next to me and I didn’t think much of it until I saw a blonde hair bun in my peripherals.
I shoved the magazine back into the pocket under the TV. I acted like I was looking out the window when I was really looking at her through the corner of my eye. The first thing she did was take a book out.
Like me, she was comfortable wearing a jacket and jeans for the wintertime. She was way more comfortable with the burger pillow on her lap.
I tapped my finger against the armrest as I watched the workers outside driving around with a large container full of luggage and packages.
I had to admit it; I felt nervous. What does one do when sitting next to a pretty girl? Because I have no clue.
I watched the outside, up until we started to move. I thought of every cheesy icebreaker I could think of, but all of them were so bad and would make me feel uncomfortable.
As we were speeding up and lifting off the ground, I decided on something simple and not corny.
“How does takeoff actually work?” I asked. She turned her attention to me right away, raising her eyebrows, and closing her book.
“Oh, um, I think they build up speed and we sort of just… lift up.”
I watched as her hands were trying to replicate the plane lifting off the ground. Her voice was very timid and cute. I was feeling kind of giddy just making eye contact with her. She had bright and sparkling hazel eyes; I almost didn’t say anything.
“Wouldn’t it be crazy if we just went straight up?” I copied her hands, except one hand abruptly went up.
“It would be!” She nodded in agreement. She giggled and smiled, causing me to smile too.
“Um,” I didn’t want it to end just yet, “What are you reading there?”
I leaned over, resting my arm on the armrest. I was invested now and the rest of the ride will become awkward.
“It’s a book I’ve been meaning to read for a while,” She showed me the cover, “It’s a romance book.”
“What’s it about?”
“It’s about a girl who meets another girl and then they go on adventure together.” She flipped through the pages.
I hummed, “Sounds interesting. Is reading good to pass the time?”
“I personally think so,” She shrugged her shoulders, “It’s not for everyone, of course.”
I would, but I don’t have a book and I wasn’t interested in watching a movie at this point.
“What books are you into?” She asked.
“Love a good science fiction. On a good day, horror is the way to go.”
“I’ve read a few Stephen King novels, but not my cup of tea.”
“You should reconsider.”
“Why is that?”
After this, the whole conversation continued on and on. Our flight lasted for eleven hours, yet neither of us showed any signs of shutting up. Our whole topic on stories and ones we’ve read recently lasted for nearly half of the travel.
“I suggest Misery. That book is good.”
“I’ll consider it.”
“Do you want to watch the film adaptation? It might be on these little screens.”
She shook her head, “I don’t want to traumatize myself!”
Our next topic went to ourselves. It transitioned so well, I wasn’t sure when it happened. She started, saying something about her other hobbies like playing instruments and sometimes knitting. I wasn’t sure what to say about myself, but I tried to relate with her with the instrument thing, saying I played guitar sometimes, and watching thriller or cult films. Time went by, unbeknownst to us, and we only broke away when flight attendants asked about meals, snacks and drinks. We still talked even when eating awful plane food about the reasons why we were going to Tokyo at all.
“It’s a bucket list thing.” She answered.
“Me too! Kinda, I do photography for a living, so I love to travel.”
“Sounds exciting! What do you love taking pictures of?”
I hummed, “To be honest, no idea. I just see things and I’m like, “I need a photo of that.’”
This topic went on for the rest of the trip. I paused about halfway through my sentence; I forgot ask the most important thing.
“Wait, damn, we don’t even know each other’s names!”
“That would be important, huh?” She chuckled.
“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Haneda Airport. Local time is 2:28 AM and the temperature is 41 degrees Fahrenheit.”
We checked our seatbelts and directed our attention out the window. We watched as we had a semi-bumpy landing. It looked like overcast outside and was slightly windy.
“I felt like we just left.” She sighed.
“I know, right?”
On behalf of Delta Airlines and the entire crew, I’d like to thank you for joining us on this trip and we are looking forward to seeing you on board again in the near future. Have a nice stay!”
We didn’t talk to each other as we were getting out of the plane. We looked at each other from time-to-time, smiling and nodding at each other. Even though we weren’t saying anything, we were still walking side by side and staying together. Plus, the airport was pretty overcrowded, so it wasn’t like we could split ways. We stopped at the conveyor belt filled with large luggage bags for our plane; it was already surrounded by people from our and other flights.
Our bags happened to be right next to each other and we pulled on them right away to our sides.
I huffed, “Do you know anyone here? In Japan, I mean?”
“Nope, I’m here all by myself. What about you?”
“Me neither, I’m just here alone.”
We both chuckled, but neither of us started the goodbyes or walking away. I looked around awkwardly with the question dancing on my tongue.
I looked at her again, “Would you like to travel together?”
She was deep in thought, judging by the look on her face and her hand on her chin. I wasn’t expecting a yes, because I’m still a stranger to her. She then giggled and nodded.
“You know what? I would love to.”
We started to walk together, dragging our bags and dumb smiles on our faces. Then, I remembered an important detail.
“So, uh, what’s your name?” I asked.
“Kate,” she smiled and held her hand out, “You are?”
“Max.” I grabbed and shook her hand.
As we let go, the smiles on our faces were plastered on.
Traveling alone didn’t seem that fun anyway.

for the excessively detailed hc meme 1, 3, 8, 11, & 27 for the twins, and 16, 31, and 17 for domrick
HOOOOOOO BOY
okay so u sent some artsy things too n ill get those jus not now bc its Late
okay sO this got long so under the cut!!!
twins~
1. What does their bedroom look like?
okay so they shared a bedroom in scana before shit hit the fan. it was a room in master nagaos cool ass mages tower that he totally requested be built for the Aesthetic™
they didnt really do the typical your half - my half of the room thing, instead just sharing a bed and having their shit strewn everywhere. books everywhere, altars to various gods, a window u cant see out of bc its covered in plants that mofi religiously attends to.
theres so much random shit everywhere too?? knick knacks nagao brings them from his occasional travels, weird shit kofi saw in the marketplace from that one occult vendor and bought just to creep the maids out with, coloring books, random bones, minor magical artifacts that u probably shouldnt leave lying around but hey, they dont care
but its a sort of organized chaos, that only they know. ask one of them for anything and its almost like they summon it with how fast it appears in their hand (hell for all we know they did summon it. accio underwear)
3. Do they exercise, and if so, what do they do? How often?
they certainly exercise their magical talents on a daily basis, mostly in the form of playing tricks on nagao and the tower staff. they also do training with him a couple times a week now, and he forces them to get out and do something physical at least once a week. mofi used to swim in the bordering ocean most mornings, but stopped after an encounter with a kraken almost got violent. kofi saved nem tho so everythings good (even if ve was the one to attract its attention in the first place lmao)
8. Favorite indulgence and feelings surrounding indulging
mofi has the sweet tooth to end all sweet teeth and honestly if using magic as much as ne does didnt burn so many calories who knows where ne’d be. ne doesnt care tho, even if it gets a little embarrassing when ne attacks the sweets vendors in the mornings
kofi on the other hand loves sappy romance stories. ves aro and ace and doesnt ‘secretly wish for true love’ or some such bullshit, but ves such a sap and absolutely devours romance novels like mofi does candy. ve would never let anyone know, and only has mofis silence because if ne let slip kofis a secret romantic at heart then kofi would tell the world about the time mofi accidentally ate nagaos liquor chocolate stash and fell asleep on the roof in stolen lingerie
11. Intellectual pursuits?
books. they both love to read most kinds of books, especially books on magic. theyre also both pretty proficient at chess, courtesy of master nagao, but much prefer ‘cheating’ at it. remember that post about cheating at chess? ‘all my pawns found god and are now bishops/we overthrew the kind and made a democracy so thats a puppet ruler you just killed/all the captured soldiers dug their way out and emerged in your court’? thats them. all the fucking time. it drives nagao up the walls but he loves playing along, especially with how creative they get
27. What is their biggest regret?
mmmmmMMMMMMMGOD I WANNA SPOIL THINGS TO ANSWER THIS BUT I DONT WANNA SPOIL THINGS BC SPOILERS
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
okay u know what?? u know fuckin what?? imma do it and yallre just gonna have to Deal
mofis is that ne trusted too much
kofis is that ve never got to say goodbye
oKAY NOW FOR DOMRICK HERE WE GO LADS LETS JUST DIVERT YALLS ATTENTION AWAY FROM T H A T
domrick!
16. Biggest and smallest long term goal?
his biggest long term goal would either be able to find love, or to find a permanent way to transition. theres only so much illusionary spells and testosterone potions can do; the twins may be powerful, but even combined they cant completely rewrite dwarven genes to switch doms sex
smallest before the events of the story i have no idea, but afterwards his smallest long term goal might be to get a better and less ragged outfit. hell lets just say thats from before the story too. hes vain, his clothes are shabby. i dont draw them nearly shabby enough
17. Preferred mode of dress and rituals surrounding dress
okay not really sure what this means?? he dresses himself and doesnt really have any special dressing rituals except trimming his beard now that he has one (thanks mofi for the potions btw)
but if ur asking what style he prefers just. just imagine one of those old timey medieval bards. just. imagine that. but short. and blue
31. Most prized possession?
def his lute, gifted by a long dead grandmother to a tinier dwarf years ago. she was the only one who supported his love of music instead of smithing, and she probs wouldve been the only one to support his transition too, if hed realized what was going on in his head at the time. back then he just thought he was confused so he kept quiet. hell if gramma was still alive when he came out it might not have gone so bad, shed have been on his side from the beginning and wouldve kept the other dwarves from straight up throwing him out on the street. but its a bit late for that

Goodbye January & hello February!
January was a super productive month for me both in my reading & blogging!  I hope this momentum will continue throughout 2019.  I read some AMAZING books, two of which will definitely be making my “top books of 2019” list at the end of the year.
I managed to read 12 books in January! Not only that, but I read all 6 books off my January TBR!  Talk about setting the bar high in the first month of 2019.
Let’s see what I read & blogged this month…
» The Stone Sky (The Broken Earth #3) by N.K. Jemisin
A perfect & heartbreaking conclusion to a new favorite series.
You can read my review here ⇒ The Stone Sky (Broken Earth #3)
» The German Girl by Armando Lucas Correa
A WWII historical fiction about a family escaping Germany on the St. Louis.  I liked the historical content, but there were a few things off with this book.
» The Thief (The Queen’s Thief #1) by Megan Whalen Turner
A slow moving book with one of the best endings I’ve read in a while.
You can read my review here ⇒ The Thief (The Queen’s Thief #1)
» The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey
This book took my breath away.  This is definitely a new favorite & will most likely appear in my top books of 2019 list.
You can read my review here ⇒ The Snow Child
» Arrows of the Queen(Valdemar: Heralds of Valdemar #1) by Mercedes Lackey
*3.5 Stars*
There were so many good things going for this book!  I’m conflicted with my star rating between a 3.5 star and 4 star rating.  I will work out my thoughts in a mini-review to come.
» Every Heart A Doorway (Wayward Children #1) by Seanan McGuire
A short novella that explores what happens to children after they return from the fantastical world they’ve traveled to.  This one didn’t exactly live up to the hype for me.
You can read my review here ⇒ Every Heart A Doorway (Wayward Children #1)
» Where the River Parts by Radhika Swarup
*4.5 stars*
This book is a historical romance at its core, but it was so much more than that.  Where the River Parts is a historical fiction about the partition of Indian in 1947 into India & Pakistan.  It explores the tensions between the Muslim & Hindu people during that time.  This book is truly a hidden gem.
» Arrow’s Flight (Valdemar: Heralds of Valdemar #2) by Mercedes Lackey
*3.5 Stars*
The second book in the Heralds of Valdemar series that I am reading to participate in #ReadingValdemar.  Much like the first book there were aspect about this book I highly enjoyed, and others…not so much.
» Everyone Brave is Forgiven by Chris Cleave
I don’t think I’ve ever laughed out loud during a WWII historical fiction book…  Chris Cleave’s dry humor & witty banter was on point!
» In the Woods by Tana French
*3.5 Stars*
A crime fiction novel where the procedural aspects were well done.  This book could have been 100 pages shorter.  In the Woods didn’t shock me, which is what I want from a thriller type novel.
» Amal Unbound by Aisha Saeed
#YARC2019
Wonderful MG novel about a young girl in Pakistan.  The author explored very important themes in a way younger MG reader will be able to understand.
» The Winter of the Witch (Winternight #3) by Katherine Arden
Epic.  The Winter of the Witch is the best book in the Winternight Trilogy.  My heart aches that this series is complete.  One of my favorite series EVER.  Top book of 2019!
Goodreads Challenge Update:
#YARC2019 Update:
Year of Asian Reading Challenge TBR + Progress Tracker #YARC2019
I have read 2 books in January that count towards #YARC2019!
2019 Goals Update:
» 80% NetGalley feedback ratio = 15 backlist ARCs ⇒ 2/15 books read
I read 2 backlist ARCs this month!
» 30 physical TBR books ⇒ 4/30 books read
I read 4 books off my shelves this month.
» No buying new books ⇒ 0 books bought
» Book inventory spreadsheet ⇒ Progress made!
I completed my eBook inventory spreadsheet and begun my physical book inventory spreadsheet.  I have logged my first 100 books.
» Complete mini reviews for all books read ⇒  4/6 mini reviews completed!
Out of the 6 books eligible for mini reviews, I got a batch of 4 up on the blog this month.  The others will be lumped into a new batch in February 🙂
» Two “creative” blog posts per month ⇒ 1/2 blog posts
This month I shared my bookish spreadsheet templates, but didn’t post a second “creative blog post”
» Backup blog posts to Google Drive ⇒ Progress made!
I have successfully implemented backing up my blog posts as part of my blogging routine, so all of my January posts have been backed up.  I have also made great progress with my back list blog posts.  I decided that I will not be backing up posts like my wrap-ups, TBRs, or weekly memes like TTT or T5W.
» Read at least 3 long books I’ve been putting off ⇒ 0/3 books read
I am going to attempt to read one of these books in March… Don’t let me keep putting them off!!!

Down the TBR Hole is a meme created by lostinastory to help cleanse your shelves of the books you may not be interested in anymore.
I am someone who is constantly cleansing her Goodreads tbr. I can go back to a month ago and delete most of the books just because I added so many on a whim. It’s the books from the beginning of my TBR that I have a harder time saying goodbye to.
GONE are the ‘oh I might be interested eventually‘ days. GONE are the days where I spend my time procrastinating series I genuinely don’t care about anymore. 2018 and 2019 are years of GROWTH.
The rules:
Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
Order on ascending date added.
Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
Read the synopses of the books
Decide: keep it or should it go?
Death Note Volume 6: I’ve actually owned the French edition of this since Christmas of 2016. I can’t speak French, and I’ve never bought it in English, but I still plan on reading this, so I’m keeping.
Winter: sorry fellas, it’s going. I loved Cress, but I was meh about the first two, and I honestly have no impulse to read any of Marissa Meyer’s work anymore. I’ve moved on from popular YA I forced myself to buy and read so I felt like I was in the loop. GONE.
Percy Jackson and the Greek Heroes: I own this, and I’ll read it eventually, but I don’t think it needs to be on my Goodreads TBR anymore. GONE.
Rot and Ruin: I’ve had this on my TBR since The Enemy days [2014; also, I DNFed The Enemy at 220 pages 2 months ago], and I have a feeling the two are very similar, so it’s going. Teenage romance hijacking the zombie plot? Blergh. GONE.
Otherbound: I’m still so intrigued by this, and someone recommended it for fans of Afterworlds by Scott Westerfield, so I’m keeping.
Proxy: Keeping. I don’t have to think twice.
Far From You: Another default keep. Murder, girlfriends, a look at drug abuse? My perfect book.
Feedback: It’s sacrilege to suggest I’d do anything but keep this on my TBR! I’m planning on reading this by the end of the year. KEEPING.
Parasite: KEEP KEEP KEEP. It has low ratings, but so did FEED, and that’s one of my favourite books of all time. I love ALL Mira Grant lives.
Pantomime: Keeping it fellas.
The Passage: It’s long as fuck, but this is a dystopian, and I’m a sucker for all dystopians and political conspiracy novels, so I’m keeping.
Anya’s Ghost: Ghosts! Pretty purple art! Contemporary struggles! I’m keeping.
Smile: It’s coming of age and a graphic novel, but it’s not screaming at me. If I found it in the library I’d pick it up, but for now, it’s GONE.
Romantic Outlaws: This would probably take me 2 years to read, as most non-fiction does, but I still want to read it sooooo bad. However, I’ll remove it for now. The name is permanently ingrained in my head anyway. GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN.
The Monstrumologist: This still sounds so good to me. KEEPING.
The Doors of Stone: GONE GONE GONE. I’m done! I’d have to reread the first two books, and it took me a year to read the second book, so I’m done! Maybe eventually, but it’s going off this TBR.
Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Volume 1: Eh. Keeping. It’s a comic book, I can just test out the first issue and if I enjoy it, I’ll have it off my TBR pretty quickly now I know how long this has been on there.
George: This sounds so cute but it’s really not jumping out at me. Moving it from TBR to my Maybe shelf, so technically: it’s Gone :[
Wytches Volume 1: Keeeeeeeeping!
Lady Killer Volume 1: It still sounds intriguing, but this is virtually impossible to find online/in the library/for a decent price, so it’s Gone.
This meme was so fun to do. I 100% plan on doing another one of these, and I encourage anyone with big TBRs to do the same. The relief is real!
  Thank you for reading!

Memory Ask Meme Ji - ❣️💙💔, Nak - 💘💟, Mathani - 💖💚
Ji-hing -
1. A memory that leaves them laughing. ~ I think this would be the way she met Akota. She certainly didn’t expect anyone to notice that she was reading a raunchy romance novel, much less comment on the shirtless tauren on the front. It was probably the most embarrassing moment of her life, at the time, but looking back she finds it hilarious.
2. A memory that makes them cry. ~ When she very nearly lost Akota. Flipping through every book on herbs and healing she had, her hair falling in her face because she couldn’t be bothered to take the seconds away from her efforts to tie it up again, the knot in her stomach that at least kept her from needing to eat during the whole mess. It frightened her more than anything else in her life ever had, and it still hurts her to think about.
3. A memory that leaves them feeling lonely. ~ After a year or two of that only child life, Ji quickly found herself sharing a room with, oh, half a dozen sisters and cousins. Of course they fought constantly, favorite blankets and hair ties would go missing, but every now and then they would have a night of peace and get along well with one another. The night before Ji left for training was one of those, with all of the girls talking of silly things like the sorts of boys (or girls) she might meet, insisting that she do something nicer with her hair just in case, and mostly getting in some quality time before they lost the eldest of their lot. She really can’t handle sleeping in a room alone, now.
Nak'tah -
1. A memory that gets their heart pounding. ~ His first kiss, without a doubt. The guy is long gone, and he can barely even remember where they were or how it came about, but he certainly remembers the butterflies and soft lips and feeling kind of dizzy? And being entirely overwhelmed in the best of ways.
2. Wildcard!!! A memory that leaves them feeling lonely. ~ The first time that he realized that his family wasn’t coming to save him. The entire trip with the slavers, he was certain that they would be there at any moment to bring him back home, but after the first day he was handed an axe and thrown into the arena, reality began to sink in. He curled up in a ball and cried and cried, but it became quickly apparent that it wasn’t going to do a damn thing to help him. I suppose you could say he has some issues trusting people, now.
Mathani -
1. A memory that made them feel special. ~ You know, I let this one in particular stew in my brain overnight. I thought about writing something from far in her past to put here, but at this point in her life she’s blocked all of that out. So, I’m going to take the easy but accurate route, here, and say that there isn’t one.
2. A memory that makes them feel guilty. ~ That would easily be the loss of her family. It was one of the few times that they weren’t making a family day of taking their produce to trade, so she mounted their kodo alone and ended up being the only one spared in the Cataclysm. That final goodbye, insisting to the kids that they stay with their father and do their chores instead of coming along with her, just this once…
