a few thoughts

ego’s SUCH a fuckin dick.

And I knew if I returned a fourth…i’d never leave. The Expansion…the reason for my very existence, would be over. So, I did what I had to do. But...it broke my heart to put that tumor in her head...

i can only assume it was during this bank heist that pete fucked the A'askavariian mentioned in volume 1 (maybe this has already been talked about by people but it's a new thing for me!)

also i’ve mentioned before that drax’s nurturing instincts impacted the plot of this volume in a big way thanks to the bond he developed with mantis, born explicitly out of him seeing his daughter in her. it was this bond that convinced mantis to tell him about ego’s plan. BUT ALSO it is how he convinced mantis to try to put ego to sleep, buying the guardians valuable time. AND MORE. love drax so much

also i didn’t realize it but we get another “yeah” moment from rocket in the middle of this fight on ego. that fuckin voice

and the lingering closing shot on rocket and his tears - the fact that he is the only focus of this film’s final shot - it wrecks me every time

Why does nobody talk about how GOTG2 has 2 of the saddest MCU scenes and one of them is like 5 seconds long.

1. Yondu’s death. Man spent his last seconds consoling Quill and Quill’s screams into space? HEARTBREAKING.

And 2. The scene where ego grabs the guardians and we see Groot in the little tunnel and we see him get closed in and it just zooms in on his face and he’s crying real tears and it’s real baby crying sounds ohhhh my god.

today i rewatched gotg to do some thanos research and uhh didn't really come across any surprises. but now i have the things i already knew in detailed notes, so that's something.

to the film's credit, i will say: a lot of the design is genuinely cool. in particular, while we don't actually learn that much about her as a person, nebula is, visually speaking, a very fun villain. love the big black eyes and the cold head tilts.

#gotg is watchable but it's still really not my thing. just scavenging details here and there #still gonna watch v2 though. because i am a professional.

I would like to remind everyone we had a four year canon gap between GOTG v2 and IW. Therefore there’s probably a lot more memories of Starmora that we have no clue what they could possibly be and a lot more time then we think that they had together. (Which justifies the way Quill acts even more in IW and GOTG v3.)

GOTG has a special place in my heart. I remember being in elementary school and the boys were excited to go see it. It was about two years after I figured out I wasn't cis that I got into Marvel movies. I watched them all*, but what most caught my interest was GOTG. And even moreso, GOTG V2 because I relate so hard to Quill. I've now come to absolutely fucking adore V3. But...I wish that I could've been one of those boys all those years ago. I wish I could be one of those boys now.

I cling onto my love for these movies because it's basically the only thing I enjoy that mimics typical cis boys' interests. It makes me feel a bit closer to how I should be. How I wish I were.

one of my trans friends yesterday (the one my t4t posts are about, if you’re a regular here) was telling me about something that makes him feel a bit better about himself similar to what you’re like. for me, it’s sports that connect me to the average cis guy.
