- She Makes My Heart Flutter (2022)

I love this one. Basically all the characters are lesbians and in a friendship group. It’s so sweet and endearing and I really recommend it! Kinda short but so sweet. One of my favourites for sure <3

- She Loves To Cook and She Loves to Eat (2022)

The characters are a perfect match. This show will make your heart warm and you will say ‘Me and who’ every five seconds.

- Sleep with Me (2022)

The chemistry is so good. It feels so raw and real. Sexuality isn’t really an issue at all. I really enjoyed watching, my heart 🥹

- Out of Breath (2019)

Both painful and heartwarming, it can be relatable to viewers who have experienced break-ups and finding new love. This series is fun and I like it.

- Couple of Mirrors (2021)

Because of censorship, their relationship isn’t ~specifically stated but they are canonically together by the person who created them. I mean, they literally live together, sleep in the same bed, raise a child together etc. The vibes are gayyyy, it’s safe to say they have romantic feelings for each other. If you love action and badass women, this is for you!

- Legend of Yunze (2022)

Lovers reunite after centuries apart. It’s so beautiful and I rewatch this quite a lot.

- Girlfriend Project Day 1 (2022)

Super short, but still really cute. The characters are forced to work together and things ensue. I wish they’d make more episodes 🥹

It’s not made/edited the best but it’s still cute and easy to watch, nice elements of comedy :D

oh boy this is a loaded question 😂 i am purely a watcher of the show, i have not read the books — and honestly, jenny han has literally said that the show is how she would write the story today vs over ten years ago when the books came out, so take with that what you will (also here's jelly vs bonrad)

i want to start this off by just saying i don't HATE jeremiah (i know i say that i do a lot but that's mostly just me being funny and i won't apologize for that 💅🏼) and while i honestly don't like him right now, i don't think he's a bad person and lbr all of these characters could benefit from some self-improvement via therapy. i'm also going to refrain from labeling any characters/relationships as "toxic" or "abusive" because frankly i think people (usually tiktok girlies that are clearly chronically online) overuse and misuse the term so that it's lost all meaning, and i'm not a psychiatrist 🤷🏻‍♀️ this is simply my interpretation and analysis of a tv show that i enjoy watching

if you love jeremiah, all power to ya!! i'm not going to tell you that you need "professional help" or to "reevaluate yourself" (like some people love to tell random strangers on the internet). these are fictional characters — they are quite literally not real and if you like some, cool. if you don't like some, cool. if you disagree with my interpretations, cool!! i genuinely do not care as long as you mind your business and stay in your lane

i'm going to say right off the bat that the biggest reason i prefer conrad is simply that i gravitate towards that kind of character, i don't know why but it's just a common theme among my faves

going into season two, i was/am team conrad but i honestly loved jeremiah!! that quickly changed and honestly when i rewatched season one, i saw the same behaviors and didn't like him as much. also, none of my criticism of jeremiah is meant to say that conrad is perfect and has never done anything wrong (even though he IS perfect and has NEVER done anything wrong 😜)

most of the issues i have with jeremiah all come back to one thing: his feelings of inadequacy and jealousy when it comes to conrad

manipulative: when he sees belly and conrad about to kiss, he sabotages it with the fireworks, then tries to play it off as an accident and like he didn't see them when conrad mentions it. at this point, he knows that belly has always had a crush on conrad but now he knows to a degree that it's reciprocated. he then proceeds to go out of his way to sabotage them, like when he goes to nicole and gets her to invite conrad to that music festival (which, also not cool to play nicole like that), though i will admit that conrad self-sabotaging ruining things with belly had nothing to do with jeremiah

guilt-tripping: this sort of goes hand-in-hand with being manipulative. on MULTIPLE occasions, he purposefully makes belly feel uncomfortable and guilty for simply being happy with conrad. some examples:

thanksgiving — she drops conrad's hand after jere stares at them from across the table, they separate and she intentionally steps away from conrad when jere walks into the room, he tells conrad to "warn him" when belly is literally just going to be there

road trip to brown — he is passive aggressive in the car ("we don't talk about you"), he gives her the biggest eye roll/side-eye when trusky mentions conrad being depressed over the break up, he makes her feel terrible about "not being there for him" even though he was literally the one ignoring her when she said she had been reaching out multiple times. i understand that they are best friends and he was also struggling, there's no doubt about that, but she is ONE PERSON (who is also struggling, mind you) and OF COURSE she is going to be there for her BOYFRIEND

everything since then — multiple times throughout the rest of the season, he gives belly dirty looks any time she merely breathes in the direction of conrad, he interrupts them anytime they're talking (like in the party store) with a nasty look/tone, he goes to belly after her fight with laurel to be "supportive" and then shuts her down when she tries to talk about her feelings simply because she brings up conrad (which was very relevant to the conversation so like??), he gives belly a dirty look when conrad GIVES HER A SWEATSHIRT BECAUSE SHE WAS CHILLY. she is immediately uncomfortable and self-conscious of her actions every single time, even when SHE'S NOT EVEN DATING CONRAD ANYMORE and none of the interactions were explicitly "romantic"

playing the victim: again, goes hand-in-hand with my previous points. not only did he know that belly has always had a crush on conrad, but he literally watched them almost kiss. then the next night, he tells belly he likes her and they kiss. then when she later tells him that she kissed conrad, he acts like he had no idea that she liked conrad and was completely deceived (this is not me saying that belly didn't do him dirty — she did!! and i DO truly feel bad for him, but they weren't dating and he knew full well that she was rejected by conrad immediately before they proceeded to get together) and throws the fact that his "mom has cancer" in her face to make her feel like a bad person. i get that he was upset, rightfully so, but that was still messed up. conrad also did NOTHING WRONG here!! he had no idea that jeremiah liked belly or that they kissed when he kissed her, was not angry when belly told him about kissing jere, asked her who she wanted to be with, and then respected her decision to not date in order to spare jere's feelings. jeremiah acting all pissy towards conrad was not deserved. i understand him being annoyed when conrad asked him for his blessing, but if he truly cared about them, he would want them to be happy together instead of spending the next few months pouting and ignoring them

jealousy: all of this comes back to the fact that he is extremely jealous of conrad. having an older sister, i get it — i sympathize with always being compared, feeling like they're better at everything, and trying to live up to that. he feels like conrad is better at everything and is everyone's first choice (which... he is 😬) but like... that's a YOU problem. conrad didn't do anything to him!!

the conrad of it all: he constantly talks shit about conrad and doesn't even try to understand where he's coming from, which i understand to an extent because he is justifiably hurt, but calling conrad the selfish one is literally LAUGHABLE. even though he may have been misguided, everything conrad did was to try to protect jeremiah from pain. he has had an immense amount of pressure put on him by his father (and others) to be the perfect one that is always looking out for and protecting the younger ones. he suffered in silence for months after finding out about susannah's cancer/adam cheating, both to give susannah the last perfect summer she wanted and to protect jere from everything. same thing with the house — he thought that he could handle it by himself and that it would be protecting the rest of them to do it by himself. he had to deal with all of the guilt of not being able to be there for susannah as much as he wanted because of college, and he literally had a panic attack at the thought of leaving jeremiah to go to stanford. jeremiah constantly bringing up that belly and conrad broke up (when it's none of his damn business and he even admitted he didn't know what happened between them) ESPECIALLY in regard to conrad not being around when susannah was sick because HE WAS AT SCHOOL and "always with belly" is so fucked up. everyone was struggling and doing their best, including jeremiah, and that was just not cool. belly's actions ("not being there for jeremiah") are not conrad's fault.

because of his jealousy towards literally every single thing conrad says or does, he doesn't care that belly makes conrad happy (and vice versa), he gives absolutely zero consideration to conrad's feelings when deciding to go after belly (also neither does belly but that's a whole other post). conrad has now apologized to both belly and jeremiah on multiple occasions and started doing some serious self-reflection. jeremiah has not apologized ONCE for the shit he’s said and done.

i have said it before and i stand by it: conrad wants belly to be happy while jeremiah only wants belly to be happy if it's with him

(and no, his conversation with conrad in the finale doesn't change my mind because i simply didn't believe him)

IN CONCLUSION, people are entitled to their wrong opinions but conrad fisher remains superior now and forever and he deserves so much better and no i don't take questions or criticism because i'm right

I’ll be honest, when Kylo first meets Rey the whole thing from him knocking her out to her waking up restrained and having their first face-to-face interaction has always felt a bit rapey to me.  I think it’s one of the big reasons I’ve been staunchly anti-Reylo for so long.  However, having now fallen to the Reylo side and rewatched the movies from that perspective, I have a different take on that first meeting and their subsequent interactions.

First, before I dive into everything, I want to address the age gap.  I wish Rey hadn’t been 19 when they met.  It just makes the whole ten-year age gap a little hard to stomach (even though it is a long, long time ago in a galaxy far away, and Ben has the emotional maturity of a 13-year-old).  I wish she’d been a little older, or that the gap hadn’t been so huge if they were going to insist she be 19.  Plus, how does that whole sharing-a-soul thing work?  Did Ben have a complete soul for the first decade of his life, and then as soon as Rey popped into existence his soul ripped in half and yeeted itself across the galaxy to find her?  (There’s probably an actual official answer to this particular question, but I haven’t really looked into it yet.)

Okay, let’s go back to Ben.  This was the son of Han and Leia, and they are two of the biggest deals in the New Republic.  They love Ben, but they don’t have a lot of time to be parents.  Anyone who’s had parents who were in leadership positions knows how much time is sacrificed to be available to others.  Ben spent the beginning of his life sharing his parents with the entire galaxy.  Plus, roughly around the time he came to be, Leia was off training to be a Jedi.  I’m not sure if she was still training after he was born, but from everything I’ve found, she quit her training sometime around then.  The woman might be a badass, but there are only so many hours in a day and so many places she can be at once.  

There’s no doubt in my mind that Ben was raised to have manners.  He’s the kid of leaders, he was probably in etiquette lessons before he could fully form sentences.  

I have no doubt that Ben witnessed his parents showing each other physical affection, but who knows how often that happened.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Han and Leia spent more time apart than together because of their roles in the New Republic.  On top of that, I’ve always felt that there was a layer of slight aggressiveness to their relationship.  It’s not bad, but it could be very confusing to a little kid.  This is what Ben spends the first decade of his life observing.  

Then, right as he reaches the age of ten, he gets sent off to hang out with his bachelor uncle to learn to be a Jedi.  I know that in the now non-canon material, Luke was married, but in the current canon, it seems that his marriage exists only in his dreams.  Given the Jedi issues with love and attachments, I sincerely doubt that Ben and his fellow padawans were given any kind of sex ed or instruction on how to treat someone they might be attracted to.  

So, Ben becomes Kylo, and while there are women who work with him, none of them are his soulmate.  He has zero dating experience and he only has his memories of his parents’ relationship to give him any idea of how to treat his soulmate.  I think he knew from very early on that the other half of his soul was out there, somewhere in the galaxy.  

By the time we reach The Force Awakens, Kylo is 29, and barely holding it together.  Ben is still in there, fighting hard to break free.  When he reaches Takodana in the search for the map, I would not be surprised if he sensed the missing piece of his soul and that’s how he found Rey so easily.  He was literally drawn to her like a magnet. 

When she starts shooting at him, he flicks away the blaster bolts.  He could easily have bounced them right back at her causing wound or death, or even stopped the blasts as soon as they started (much like how he did with Poe at the beginning of the movie).  He takes a surprisingly long time to actually put a stop to it.  And you get this sense that he’s trying to figure out what to do with her.  He observes her and even paces around her frozen form.  The guy is huge and intimidating, it would be enough to terrify anyone.  And Rey is already on edge from what happened at Maz’s castle.  

When Kylo knocks her out, he doesn’t just let her collapse onto the ground.  He’s right there catching her as she falls and then he sweeps her up in his arms, rather than having his underlings take over.  If he’d thought she was just some random girl, this action wouldn’t make sense.  I think, at that moment, he wanted to be as physically close to his missing piece as possible.

She comes to, restrained in this terrifyingly unfamiliar place, and the big bad of the galaxy is watching her.  He’s not touching her, he’s not even that close, but he is there and he’s still observing.  Still trying to figure her out.  As soon as she makes the comment about the mask, he pulls it off and they’re finally face-to-face.  When you watch, there is almost a subtle Gollum/Smeagol type fight going on inside him.  Ben is there, fighting against Kylo, and you end up with a very tense scene.  

Kylo doesn’t make a great choice using the words, “I can take whatever I want” and then immediately probing her mind.  Yes, this is non-consensual and scary.  But as soon as she tells him to get out of her mind, I think Ben takes over briefly because he doesn’t even question, just obeys.  He’s trying so hard to get a read on her.  And then the Kylo part of him takes over and tries so hard to pull the information from her.  

There’s an episode of Doctor Who where the Doctor is reading Madame de Pompadour’s mind, and she starts reading his.  He’s shocked by this and she tells him, “A door once opened may be stepped through in either direction.”  This is exactly what happens between Rey & Ben/Kylo.  

Also, I just want to point out that there is a big difference between Poe and Rey’s interrogations.  Kylo is aggressive and angry with Poe, but he’s much more restrained with Rey.  In fact, by the time their interaction ends, he’s absolutely shaken by how Rey has responded, and you can see the fear in his eyes as he realizes he’s experiencing something completely new.  Rey can read him almost easier than he can read her.

Throughout the rest of the movie, their interactions are intense.  Kylo throws her against a tree.  And then he fights with Finn.  He screams and rages against the other man,  He beats Finn, and tries to take the lightsaber, but the saber flies past him and into Rey’s hands.  Ben almost manages to surface.  The rage is gone, and you can see how intrigued he is by this new development.  The way he looks at her is a complete shift from the way he looked at Finn.   Their lightsaber duel is not nearly as brutal as it should be considering the fact that he’s far more experienced with the blade.  He could use his powers to disarm her, could break her, and he doesn’t.  He fights with her, and it’s like he’s trying to get a read on just how skilled she really is.  He even tries to convince her to let him teach her.  That’s not something you say to someone you hate or want to kill.    When she wounds him, he just keeps getting back up until the earth splits and physically separates them from each other.  

He lets her go.  As wounded as he is, he’s still a very strong force user, and I think it’s very possible he could’ve pulled her back, could’ve dropped her in the chasm.  He could’ve ended things right there and then, but he doesn’t.  

From the first time he and Rey lock eyes on each other, he never looks at her like he looks at anyone else.  The anger, the hatred, all of it isn’t there when he looks at her.  There’s fascination, annoyance, frustration, and by the time we get into Last Jedi there are the beginnings of love in his gaze.  She’s his missing piece.  His soul is complete when he’s interacting with her.  

Kylo is barely there at all when he interacts with her.  Their first soul bond, he tries to order her to bring him Skywalker, but you can tell the order is half-hearted at best, and he immediately drops his hand and you see the shame in his face.  I suspect he’s been beating himself up about how he interrogated her, and realizes he was just about to pull the same shit again.  

Ben can’t fully break free, but he’s still there.  When he slips the glove off and they touch, that’s all Ben.  Kylo isn’t there at all.  (And then Luke had to break in and ruin a perfect moment.) He never denies her accusations that he’s a monster, and even sits quietly and listens when she pours out the whole story about what happened in the cavern.  His actions and behaviors with her are the closest we get to see Ben Solo for the majority of the trilogy.  

At his heart, Ben wants to be the kind of man he knows Rey deserves and I really do think you see him making a genuine effort to become that, even if the road to get there is rocky.  They share a soul, and I think it’s tearing both of them apart for the majority of the trilogy because they can’t seem to figure out how to get on the same page.  

I think Kylo/Ben was wrong for how he behaved at the beginning, and I'm not trying to make excuses for him. However, I do think he genuinely regretted his behavior and tried to be better.

GYEONGSEONG CREATURE PART 1 - THE OVERVIEW (PART 1 OF 2)

Good news: I finished Gyeongseong Creature Part 1 last night, in one sitting.

Bad news: Now I have to wait till the 5th of January for the remaining episodes.

Plot: Based in Korea in the 1940s while it struggles under the Japanese occupation, a group of people enter a hospital to look for someone only to discover that a missing person is the least of their concerns with a literal monster on the rampage.

Cast: Park Seo-joon, Han So-hee, Wi Ha-joon, Kim Soo-hyun (Claudia Kim), Jo Han-chul, Kim Hae-sook, Ji Woo, Im Chul-soo, Choi Young-joon

The Overview

I went into this show pretty blind outside of the basic gist of the plot, I expected a run-of-the-mill creature feature and the show definitely delivers in that respect but it also gives us characters worth rooting for even if they don't always agree with each other and strong and complex women across the spectrum.

I know there are some who are a little annoyed about the shorter season (10 episodes instead of the usual 16-episode season) and while I understand the frustration, I think the shorter season was the only way to handle a story like this.

Another thing that is a little frustrating is the decision to split the season into 2 parts, so part 1 dropped with 7 episodes and the remaining 3 episodes will drop on the 5th of January. I knew about the split going into part 1 and.... I don't hate it. The way part 1 ends makes it bearable. It's not quite a cliffhanger (on the cliffhanger scale, this was positively kind) And that way I can do a full rewatch and then watch part 2, making it a more complete experience.

There is no respite in this show, once the story gets going and it gets going pretty quickly, there is no break in the tension. There are no filler episodes. The pace is also consistent throughout all 7 episodes, so it feels more like a very long, stressful film instead of a 7-episode show and I think that works in its favour.

The narrative is also very streamlined, we have very clear narrative arcs that we're following. The first episode opening voice over can be a little tedious but this is an original show (as in not based on a webcomic), so I could deal with that. The writer has done a great job balancing the time they spend with the people inside the hospital and those outside, coupled with competing motives even when people are seemingly on the same side. And the fact that all of this easy to follow is no small feat. This is one of the tightest, most cohesive shows I've seen in a while.

Gyeongseong Creature has one of the most visually striking opening credits and it's worth paying attention to. Outside of the visual appeal, there are a lot of clues/foreshadowing to be found there. The credits also add to the unsettling atmosphere of the show. 10/10.

The show takes place in Korea under the brutal Japanese occupation. I suggest paying attention to the language the characters use (Korean vs Japanese) because it can really give you insight about the character or the context of the conversation. When you're watching the show, there are conversations, where if you're not paying attention, you won't understand why the atmosphere is so charged. To live in a place, where the mere act of speaking in your own language could mean getting brutally beaten became an act of rebellion. It adds a whole other level of nuance and I loved that.

The show also doesn't shy away from the cruelty of the Japanese occupation, the sheer callous way that the local population was treated. It also brings in the medical experiments that the Japanese scientists conducted on the local people (both in China and Korea) Their attitude is perhaps the most chilling (I was cheering when the monster got loose)

It also makes you question who the monster actually is, the literal monster (the person who was turned without their consent) or the people facilitating this, the ones conducting these 'experiments'. Everyone from children to old people were fair game in their twisted quest for progress.

A/N: So, this turned into a bit of a thing. I'm picturing this after they officially get together and Eddie's name is cleared. The post in question.

"You can't be serious."

"As a heart attack."

Eddie stared at her, mouth open in complete and utter shock.

They were sitting on the bed, Lucy resting her back against the headboard while Eddie sat on the end, the VHS tapes in his hand all but forgotten. The plan had been a last minute movie night after Lucy had called to inform Eddie that Dustin would be over at Mike’s while her mom was working. Despite the smaller screen, they agreed her room was the safest just in case either one of them decided to come home early. The current conversation, however, was derailing the plan entirely. 

"How can you possibly claim to love Star Wars and tell me that Return of the Jedi is better than The Empire Strikes Back?" 

"I'm not saying it's better,” she amended. “I'm just saying that it’s better than people give it credit for. Empire is great, but in terms of rewatch ability, I prefer Jedi."

"How?" 

"The confrontations between Vader and Luke, Vader's final redemption, rescuing Han, Luke becoming a full Jedi–”

"Ewoks.”

"I like the Ewoks."

Eddie collapsed onto the bed, clutching his chest with one hand allowing his free arm to fall dramatically over his eyes. 

"I can't even look at you any more. You're breaking my heart."

Lucy hit him with a pillow for that one. 

He laughed, taking it in stride as he uncovered his eyes enough to meet hers. "Seriously though? Ewoks?"

"They're cute,” she defended. “It's a good juxtaposition to the Empire, in a nature vs. machine kind of way. Plus, you can't tell me you didn't feel something when mid battle one of them realized their friend was dead."

"Just relief I didn't have to see one more of them."

She rolled her eyes. "Fine, I get it. You're soooo cool. Mr. Heavy Metal likes it when the teddy bears die." 

"Well not all of us can be as sensitive as you,” he teased.

"I'm not sensitive."

"You cried when we watched King Kong."

"He didn't do anything wrong!” she exclaimed. “He was just hanging out on his island, keeping the people from getting eaten by dinosaurs when some assholes decided to kidnap him and exploit him for money. Why are you grinning at me?"

Eddie shook his head. "Nothing, you're just adorable when you're worked up."

"I'm not worked up.” 

“Yes you are.”

“No I’m not. You’re just being a jerk.”

He raised his eyebrow, turning suddenly onto his stomach. “A jerk, huh?”

“Huge.” 

His eyes narrowed before slowly crawling up the bed towards her. 

Lucy did her best not to squirm, making sure to keep her expression calm and her eyes focused on his.  

He stopped inches from her face, his arms caging her between him and the bed. She held firm all the while, even with his lips so tantalizingly close. At least, she thought she had been. 

"Oooo you wanna kiss me so bad,” he said, a half smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. 

Heat rushed to her cheeks. "Shut up.”

"No, no, I think it's cute,” he said, before gesturing to his face. “My eyes are up here by the way."

She moved to shove him, but he quickly retalited. In an instant his hands were at her sides, tickling her with a vengeance. 

Lucy let out a squeal of laughter. She did her best to wriggle away, but Eddie wasn’t letting her escap that easily. 

“Get off me!” she giggled. 

“Nope, not until you admit I was right,” he insisted, pausing his attack.

“And what were you oh so right about?”

“We can start with you wanting to kiss me.”

She shook her head. "Not when you’re being an asshole.” 

His eyes narrowed, it was her only warning. The tickle assault started even harder than before. She could barely breathe. 

“No stop! Okay, okay! I want to kiss you!”

“Well, all you had to do was ask.” 

She didn’t get a chance to say anything before his lips found hers. Her response was instantaneous as she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. She should have been embarrassed how easily she surrendered, but God she did love how he kissed her.  

All too soon he pulled back, looking down at her with a shit eating grin. “See, not so bad being wrong.”

She had to laugh. "You’re still wrong about Jedi, though.” 

"Agree to disagree."

a/n: while im still completely in love with eddie im rewatching s1 of stranger things and im reminded just how far steve has come. and now im soft for him again. ive also been attempting to write something where i dont ramble on for thousands of words so here we are!

“If you were a Jedi, what color would your lightsaber be?”

You pose the question to an amused Steve. He chuckles as he pulls you closer, his bare chest warm and comforting against your cheek. Steve couldn’t care less about Star Wars but he knows how obsessed you are with it, so he plays along. 

“I think I’d go red.”

You shoot up, propping yourself on your elbows as you stare at him in disbelief. “You can’t have red, though! That would put you on the dark side!”

Steve may not understand the space opera but he loves how fired up it gets you. He waggles his eyebrows and stares up at you mischievously. “Maybe that’s where I belong. Me and that mouth breather, Garth- “

“Darth! Darth Vader” you interject. 

Steve grins, reveling in your fieriness. “I’m just saying. Darth and I could make a kickass team. I am very bad, after all.”

That couldn’t be further from the truth. Steve had put himself in harms way countless times just to save you, Nancy, Jonathan and the gaggle of kids you were always hanging around with. He was selfless to a fault. And right now he looked like an angel splayed out underneath you, hair fanned out around his head and crooked grin on his stupidly pretty face. 

You smile down at him nonchalantly, refusing to give in to his cuteness. “That’s fine, then. I’ll just have to duel you with my purple lightsaber.”

It’s Steve’s turn to be outraged. “There’s no such thing! It’s either red, blue or green.”

You settle back down into his arms, your face turned up to his. “I never said it had to be one of those three, Steve. Use your imagination.”

Steve broods for a minute, scrunching his eyebrows together in thought. 

“The fact is, I wouldn’t be a Jedi.”

“Oh no?”

“Why be a space monk who can’t even get laid when I could be a bounty hunter or a pilot?”

Of course he sees himself as a dashing rogue making his way through the galaxy. He’s not wrong. You’re the Jedi type. Steve, on the other hand, is all daredevil with excess charm. 

“You fancy yourself a Han Solo type, Harrington?”

He blushes slightly but nods confidently. 

“If the shoe fits, baby. He’s handsome, he’s always saving the day and he’s great with the ladies.”

On that last note, Steve squeezes your ass playfully. You smack him on the chest, smiling in spite of yourself.

“Nah, I take you for more of a Wookie than anything else.” You run your fingers through the impressive patch of chest hair he’s grown in the past year. “You’ve got the hair to match.”

He feigns a hurt expression and pouts. Those puppy dog eyes of his are impossible to resist. You pull him in for a kiss as an apology. When you break away, you’re breathless and completely under his spell again. 

“All right, I give in. You’re definitely Han. A secretly soft bad boy with a heart of gold.”

Steve strokes your hair, looking at you with a love clouded gaze. “Then that makes you my Leia. A badass chick who’s sweet but tough and smart as all hell. Banging body, too”

You burrow into the crook of Steve’s neck, hiding your dopey grin as he laughs. “And yes,” he adds “in this scenario Leia can have a purple lightsaber.”

Sounds perfect to you. The two of you lay in a comfortable silence for a few moments until Steve bashfully raises his voice. 

“Hey baby? Wookies are the scary little teddy bears, right?”

So I've been rewatching the Hannibal series all day and as usual my mind wanders and comes up with weird ideas involving Bi-Han so I'm curious on your thoughts on this. (Not so much inspired by the eating people, but more an episode where the woman he's sleeping with realizes he's the killer.) I'm assuming sometimes missions can take a long time depending on what Bi-Han has to do, so it's reasonable to assume he probably has places set up for him to 'live' so to speak to blend in. He's probably not looking for a relationship exactly, but say someone catches his eye and eventually it turns more than just physical. I doubt he's just gonna be like "Yeah so I kill people for a living. Gotta go pull someone's spine out but I'll be home for dinner." He's probably got a great cover to avoid attention on himself, but what if his so found out and he knew they did? Either by them feeling like something is off and snooping (I'd be the moron trying to break into his place for evidence not thinking how that would be a bad idea.), or straight up finding him in the act. (How someone would catch him I have no freaking clue.) What would he do? Yandere or not I imagine if he's taken a liking to someone, he's not gonna be happy to have to get rid of something of his. Someone who's also gotten attached to him. What do you think he'd do?

Realistically Bi-Han probably doesn’t sleep with the same person more than once to keep his cover in tack. He’s a professional though so I think it would be very difficult to catch him in the act unless his mark happened to catch on to your casual relationship with Bi-Han and target you. Bi-Han would obviously kill the assailant and probably try and convince you it was self defense and he just got lucky. I can maybe try and expand on this once I finally get my migraine meds back and don’t have a punishing migraine and can actually think about things. #edit: i did go to munich last weekend because football and i tried a bunch of restaurants #it was super exhausting and my knee hurt for several days #but it was really nice #went to a cat cafe. which isn't as spectacular as i thought but hey! i did it! #found a mexican place which is really good #accidentally went to the wrong korean restaurant - i wanted to visit one i've already been to but ended up at a new one #they were FAST (in augsburg i waited like 2h once so now i'm wary) and the food was good #but then the owner threw us out bcs more people were coming #won't come back thx :))))) #and then we went to a chinese place and there were a lot of chinese guests which is quite a good sign #and they had handmade noodles and were really friendly and the food was pretty good and the price too #and then i noticed if we didn't leave within like 5 minutes we'd miss our train home and had to wait for another hour #but the cute waiter struck up a conversation bcs he saw our fca stuff :)))))) which was sweet but boi i need to catch my train #there were so many people talking to us bcs of our fca stuff oh boi social interactions maxxxxed out and stuff #i want to do another food trip but not too soon. i need to recover from this trip

I really have to work on my thesis so here's a list of all the dramas I've watched this year and a summary of my most beloved blorbos

• 오징어 게임 - Squid Game: watched once in January. Loved it a lot but couldn't rewatch because it was too heavy for me at the time.

• 쓸쓸하고 찬란하神-도깨비 - Goblin/Guardian the Lonely and Great God: watched once in February/March, cried every episode, need to rewatch soon

• 괴물 - Beyond Evil: You may not have noticed but i have developed some sort of unhealthy obsession with it. Watched it 5 times in total within the span of eight months. 3 times in April, once in July/August once in November. Nothing will ever compare. It changed my brain chemistry. Got the script books despite probably only knowing like 15% of the vocabulary in there but can read them effortlessly because i know the entire show by heart.

• 무브 투 헤븐: 나는 유품정리사입니다 - Move to Heaven: watched it completely once in April. My nose got sore from crying too much. Sometimes i rewatch an episode just to feel something. Beautiful.

• 악마판사 - The Devil Judge: watched 4.5 times so far. 3 times in May/June, once in September/October and got halfway through my fourth rewatch in December (and will continue that eventually). I am obsessed. Absolutely, utterly Obsessed. Second drama i got the script books because i love it so much.

• 나의 해방일지 - My Liberation Notes: watched once in June and fell in love. Very high on my to rewatch list and if they release a script book I'd absolutely try to get that as well!

• 해피니스 - Happiness: Watched twice. First time within the span of 3 days in June/July. I had Corona and was isolating and dreamed about it every. goddamm. night. The whole "what do we do with the infected? Should we throw them out or kill them?" really seemed to resonate with me there lol. Rewatched in September and definitely will rewatch again.

• 내일 - Tomorrow: watched once in August. Idk why i expected something light hearted (i really don't know why) but i loved it very much despite the dark and heavy topics.

• 타인은 지옥이다 - Strangers From Hell: watched once. Was a wild ride.

• 배드 앤 크레이지 - Bad and Crazy: watched twice in August. I absolutely hadn't expected to love it so much. It touched my heart and I'll rewatch it regularly.

• 인간실격 - Lost: Watched once in September. Loved it a lot.

• 나의 아저씨 - My Mister: Watched once in October. No words. Will rewatch. People really weren't lying when they said it's a master piece.

• 악의 꽃 - Flower of Evil: Watched within the span of 3 days in December and am currently on my 1st rewatch. Easily gets to share first place of my favorite dramas with Beyond Evil and The Devil Judge. SO EMOTIONAL. (Also love how it shows how psychiatry and psych diagnoses are used to dehumanize and criminalize people and how it can shape a person's sense of self. Classic example of character assassination. But we don't talk about this on here.)

Now, to summarize my faves:

There's no hierarchy but if I had to say what's my favorite drama, the first place would go to Beyond Evil, which has the first first place, meaning it is untouchable, so it would be unfair to say it's my only number one. Therefore the ranking of my faves goes like this:

1.2. The Devil Judge, Bad and Crazy, and Flower of Evil

My favorite special little guys are:

• Han Juwon: Very Blorbo. Pathetic wet dog of a man, annoying little bitch (affectionate), I wanted to slap him sometimes as much as I wanted to hug him. He's very dear to me)

• Kang Yohan: Poor little meow meow! Also pathetic wet dog of a man. Very much enjoyed going from hating him to loving him more than my life.

• Ryu Soo Yeol: Classic Blorbo. Also pathetic wet dog of a man (arguably the most pathetic). I love him very much.

• Do Hyun Soo: HAS NEVER DONE ANYTHING WRONG IN HIS LIFE EVER! He doesn't even give me pathetic wet dog of a man vibes witch is shocking since this is apparently my type! Nothing was more heartbreaking than seeing him sobbing and apologizing and breaking down after so many years of hiding his identity. Deserves the best dad award. I love him so much you don't even understand. (I guess the reason i trusted him from the beginning on was the fact they labeled him with a certain diagnose. You tell me that guy is evil because a psychiatrist said so? So he must be a good person! (Sorry my hatered for psychiatry and psychiatrists/therapists shines through a bit much when I talk about this show/character)).

This, unfortunately, shows very clearly that my type™️ is men with childhood trauma (: Dongsik is very dear to me as well, but since all the horrors started for him after 20 years of having a loving childhood and teenage years, I guess i got imprinted on Juwon instead.

Characters I wanna marry so badly:

• wouldn't say no to Do Hyun Soo tbh. Has proven to be the perfect husband-

BEST OST:

• The Devil Judge! Sexiest OST I've come across so far. Tempest and What You Gonna Do are definitely two of the best songs in the history of songs

• Strangers From Hell! This show might not be my favorite but nothing comes close to this soundtrack.

• Beyond Evil! Empty and 향해 reduce me to tears and Timeless is just unmatched

• Happiness! Pain really hit hard with the line "please i just want everything to stop". Also most of the songs featured aren't even on the official OST but they are SO good!

top five movies of all time ?

Metropolis (1927, dir. Fritz Lang) is one of the films i saw in a film class in undergrad and i just looooved it. old as hell science fiction my beloved. i think a lot about pathologic & metropolis shared themes of how the mediator between the head & the hands must be the heart, etc etc etc. anyway it's long for a silent film but so good imo.

Carrie (1976 dir. Brian De Palma) i don't even see Carrie as a horror movie i see it as #girlpower film. revenge flick. i love seeing her inflict pain on all the people in her life that pushed her into a corner like that. the novella's not bad but the film is a classic to me.

Akira (1988, dir. Katsuhiro Otomo) kept coming up in suggestions for foreign flicks and i decided to read the manga first. binged the series in a week and watched the film... it's such a good adaptation because it was directed by the mangaka even though it leaves out so much worldbuilding i still love it. i have the soundtrack on vinyl.

The Edukators (2007, dir. Hans Weingartner) is actually the only one i'm putting on this list that i need to rewatch and see how i feel about it but this is something else i watched for a film class and became obsessed with. mostly putting it on my fave films rotation because i think more people should watch it. group of anticapitalists breaking into rich peoples' houses to rearrange their furniture and leave threatening messages. i'm not saying we should do this i am NOT.

Get Out (2017, dir. Jordan Peele) after i watched this i was like okay actually this should have won the Oscar (no hate to the Shape of Water i loved that one too) but the pacing in Get Out is so perfect, the amount of foreshadowing is so good. it really made me think differently about horror movies because i never thought of them being so direct before in terms of like, social critique. one of those 'you can just do that?' moments.

picking favorites is always soooooo hard because they just rotate in my head... also not sure how much movies that i would have said before really hold up. like i was obsessed w Slumdog Millionaire in high school but i'm not sur ehow i'd feel about it looking back... and then there's the problematique films like Silence of the Lambs and my love-hate relationship with Rebel Without a Cause... yeah... i also need to go out and find more movies directed by women to put on here honestly bc this is severely lacking

In Defense of the Twist Villain Trope

For years now there seems to be this growing disdain for the twist villain trope in movies and TV shows. Whether their reveal comes mid-way or towards the start of the climax, twist villains are given a bad wrap on the Internet. I think it's time for some positive talk on the twist villain trope and why many filmmakers use it. Obviously, there will be spoilers in this post so continue reading at your own risk. You've been warned.

The point of the twist villain is to thicken the plot of the story to keep the audience engaged. Twist villains are normally the characters you least expect to be villains, but once their true colors are revealed, that's when you see them in a different light upon rewatch. Take Hans from Frozen for example. Hans was built up as this honest, brave and noble prince, not unlike the Disney princes of the past. Once it revealed that he was just using Anna to his advantage, that's when you realize what his initial character was really all about. Hans was never going to be the man of Anna's dreams. He took advantage of her naivety to try and cheat his way into being king as he was the youngest of 12 brothers (as mentioned before they sang Love Is An Open Door), and he never would've had a chance. He's a cunning, manipulative and smug character who played the long game and almost one. Alot of people think this twist came out of no where and was not necessary. First of all, that's the point; you're not supposed to see the twist coming (and if you did, good for you; here's a cookie 🍪). Secondly, the twist is the payoff to what was set up in the beginning. A man bumps into a naive woman who's smitten by him already and just so happens to be the princess. That's the set up, and the pay off had to be one of 2 things: he and Anna get hitched by the end of the film or it's revealed that he was just using her for his own personal gain. I don't know about you, but I prefer the latter.

The twist villain is also criticize for being used too frequently. In other news, people are complaining that fire's too hot. See the problem with this criticism it just feels shallow and lazy. So what if it's used very often? It's a really good story telling device. Professor Marmalade from The Bad Guys was, in my humble opinion, one of the best uses of the twist villain trope I've seen in years. He was set up as such a genuinely optimistic and friendly guinea pig but when his true colors ate revealed, it's really shocking. Another really good twist villain in recent memory was in Godzilla: King Of The Monsters where Dr. Emma Russell affiliates herself with terrorist to wake King Ghidorah so that the monsters could cleans the Earth of humans. Disney and Pixar have been on a role with twist villains such as Ernesto De La Cruz, King Candy, Evelyn Endeavor and Bellwether. The villains were all very surprising in their reveals, had understandable motivations and relished being the bad guys after convincingly putting on a facade.

I know a lot of people prefer a villain that's evil all the way through (I like villains like that too). Twist villains, though, are just as (and in some cases more) evil than villains would own their misdeeds and relish being dastardly. Twist villains break the trust, love and respect of our heroes, which is also true in real life. Who among you has respected, trusted or even loved someone and was crushed when you found out they were a criminal or a bigoted ignoramus? Art tends to reflect reality and twist villains are no exception. To conclude, I think the twist villain trope is a clever and smart storytelling decision because it keeps the audience on their toes. I don't know about you, but I'll be anticipating the next twist villain to reveal their true colors.
