Knit this square yesterday, the yellow is that little skein of handspun hampshire that I dyed in the second round of exhaust. I got pretty far on an acrylic garter stitch scrap blanket à few years ago, before realizing I hate acrylic and have less than no use for a blanket made of the stuff. But man, the squares looked really nice. This blanket is stockinette because I intended to practice flat colorwork, but I wish I'd just done garter stitch. I love how it looks a lot more. Anyway... the gray is some Jacob scrap. I like both sides, not sure which will be face up when I sew it on. I need to block a ton of them atm, just don't really enjoy it. (That is another benefit of garter stitch squares).

Also the bread. Just finished its first rise. It's a blend of bread flour, whole wheat, and rye. The rye was accidental, I was looking for either spelt or more whole wheat but it wasnt labeled and light in the basement was off, so I grabbed rye accidentally, and... eh. Also has toasted Pecans. Idk, all my bread is 'what if I tossed a bunch of random stuff in a bowl while having very thick brain fog ?' But it usually tastes pretty good.

Also, 3 rolags down. I'm taking a long time with them trying to get all the vm out, but I think it's actually working really well. We'll see.

Tried out my new hand cards today

I used some of the felting wool I got in my early spinning stages and don't really care about. So it's perfect for practise reasons!

I absolutely need to refine my technique so it doesn't put as much strain on my wrist. I don't think it's supposed to need this much force. But I'll get there. Hopefully

Tried to tip a tumblr blog at 1am and it was such a suspicious transaction it immediately put a full fraud freeze on my account

Fortunately, banks no longer just ask 'did you make that transaction' they want to make sure you weren't scammed into making that transaction and 5mins after their call will give away all your money anyway.

This is an honest to goodness life saving movement and I cannot be happier banks are adopting it

Unfortunately, it meant I had to have the most embarrassing financial call of my life

Generation Loss is a comedic tragedy in every sense of the word. Every character we see exemplifies this fact, but no one other than The Austin Show proves its truth.

We begin at the carousel. Austin, Gay, takes his turn by pleading for himself to live because he has a wife and children back home. The rest of the cast interrogates him about his “wife and kids,” clearly suspicious of his truthfulness without even knowing his dubbed “title.” Everyone in the room treats Austin like a joke.

In turn, so do we.

Next, we reach the closet and shortly after the failed drag show, Austin remarks, “Look, I uh… I didn’t expect to die here.” It’s a moment of pure honesty, whether we like it or not. It happens again when the Puzzler tries to party with them, and Austin has to angrily remind him that they are his captives and are actively trying to kill them.

Austin: “What are you doing? What are you doing? What are you doing? We're trying to get out of here. I have children and wives— wife. One wife! What is this some sort of game? I’ve been stuck in hear for hours it seems. We’re trying to get out. Why is nobody else freaking out? We’ve got C4 strapped to our neck…”

It isn’t until Ethan’s death, his blood pooling out from underneath the door, Austin screaming at the others, begging them to have a reaction, to care about their circumstances, to care about death, that we finally understand Austin’s role in Generation Loss.

After all, in every great comedy, someone always has to play the straight man.

Lots more carding this evening. Went thru all the dark jacob i grabbed, probably want a full basket of rolags to work with for now. But ive already added a considerable layer to the calouses on my palms from those hand cards, so i might also start spinning some tonight...

I'm thinking 3 ply for this stuff (the white is all 2 ply), because

A) this is gonna be for the cuff, neck, and bottom ribbing, and those get a bit more wear than the rest of a sweater, so i'd rather have a 3 ply (which will stand up to it better than a 2 ply)

And B) 3 ply looks neater and more uniform when knit than 2 ply does. My ribbing is not particularly pretty most of the time (in part because i spin and knit mostly 2 ply) and in this case i'd like my ribbing to be more even, and a 3 ply will do that nicely. Especially in contrast to the main yarn, which will knits up into a nice textured (but not particularly neat) stockinette.
