The One I can’t Get Enough Looking At - Vindemiator/Humanborn angst in which the humanborn dies and the world ends, but it’s actually not that hopeless.

Passive Agressiveness Towards the Queer Community In Fanfictions

Sorry for the long title, but this really gets on my nerves. A lot of fan fiction both on here and on WattPad are meant for your average Straight, White, Cis female reader. This upsets me a lot.

If you don’t want to write for the queer community for whatever reason, fine do what you want, but please please please mark it as X Fem reader. I am so tired of seeing X Reader and thinking it’s gender neutral only to be constantly bombarded with SHE HER GIRLFRIEND and shit like that.

If you have the copasity to write fan fiction, I beg you please make it colorblind and gender neutral unless it’s important to the story.

ASMR studios like Yagami Yato do a great job of this, most of her audios use they/them, and she often makes three versions of each audio. Male listener, female listener, and NB listener.

And even in the gender/sex specific audios she still uses they/them (unless she’s saying baby boy or baby girl, but I can deal with that just fine cuz it’s nice) so it’s easy for anyone to feel comfortable listening to the audio that best resembles their body type.

Even as a trans guy I can listen to the female centered audios since she often uses they/them so I don’t feel dysphoric. It’s amazing and I love her for that.

Please don’t put gender specifics in your fanfic unless it’s important to the story or requested that said pronouns are used.

I know this will likely be ignored but I guess that’s what I get for being queer.

I’m just going to say one last thing before I finish, when I scrolled through Bakugou X Male reader for some nice stuff, here’s what I found.

70% smut

40% omega verse (for some reason)

Very few trans reader

And even with those there were very few. I got through it all in under two hours.

If you scroll Bakugou X Reader however,

There were so many just like this, and it would take months to get through them all if no one ever updated more.

I honestly feel this is a little passive aggressive, or I’m just reading into things too much. Either way, here’s all I ask.

Use they/them for your reader and don’t specify sex or gender unless it’s important to the plot.

Find time to write for trans, non binary, genderfluid, and queer readers in general.

Continue to write for female readers but stop continuing to imply that they’re always straight.

Write female characters x readers, I don’t see that very often either.

Write for different races and religions, maybe add Hanukkah chocolates coins in a fanfic (those are literally the best things in the world).

If someone requests a fanfic with a reader that doesn’t fit what you usually write for, don’t just ignore it, use it and see what you can get.

Also I see a lot of Nuerological readers, maybe have a reader with ADHD or Autism sometime?

Maybe have a reader with a prosthetic.

I get that you want to entertain the general audience, ‘normal people’, but other people exist and want to be recognized. I want someone to use my proper pronouns in a fic or mention type one diabetes casually. Have a reader that’s implied to have ADD or OCD or just generally something that’s not ‘normal.’

I do apologize, though, for the disorganized nature of Ficcember. If you work in retail this holiday season, my heart goes out to you. I’ve just gotten a job in retail today, actually, so I’m going to learn all about the holiday rush myself. I know enough from the rest of my family, who all work in the same store as I do, that it can be so taxing to take extremely long shifts during holidays when you’d much rather be resting at home enjoying the winter season, especially if it’s with your family. Hang in there, though, because you’ve got it in you. Just remember that every customer you serve, every online pickup you pack, every ugly Christmas sweater you cringe at but checkout for that crazy person anyway... it matters. It makes someone happy. It brightens up their holiday season. Every smile you flash at a coworker who is in the same boat as you makes an impact, too. Don’t be afraid to truly cherish your time at home, either- don’t stress too much about your own holiday shopping... When you can, do something that truly relaxes you, like drinking hot cocoa or cider, reading a book, listening to ASMR, or whatever you need to do. In the words of Buster Baxter, “Maybe it doesn’t have to be so great every year. Maybe Christmas could be a day where we just... relax.”

Whether it's bad I'll know if pop radio takes to it as well as it has. The quiet piano lick and the scratched vocal are menaces, though -- hold on to this fact. [5]

Iain Mew: I knew this was in an advert when I first heard it, but hadn't seen it yet. It was obvious which part it would use, though -- the transfer from piano and lightly padding steps to beats and cutting up the vocal into neat slices. Mostly because while that's a decent trick, the following couple of minutes of reiteration feels superfluous in any format. [4]

Joshua Copperman: I love the beginning -- the piano loop coupled with the voice (enticing for someone who's been listening to Sade a lot lately) makes for something pretty mesmerizing. Everything feels so smooth and chilled-out, but then the beat/chipmunk voice comes in, and as slick as it sounds all I can think of is "Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah, come light the menorah...." [5]

Tim de Reuse: A gorgeous voice, mixed to make every consonant feel like a pinprick and every vowel feel glassy and fragile -- this is some very professional-sounding ASMR! It's a little weird that they made a half-assed attempt to turn it into a song. [5]

Katherine St Asaph: Someone's heard that Natasha Kmeto cover of "I Wanna Be Down," because this is its exact trick. [5]

Ryo Miyauchi: She sounds too stiff singing "are you down?" and her "now isn't the time to play it safe" lyric rings ironic in a verse that follows so strictly to a melody. The chorus tries to offer some sort of shake-up, but the bland vocal chop is no less passive. Marian Hill want a more thrilling Friday night, and I really do hope they get something more exciting going. [4]
