Everyone is saying how messing with the reblog chain will kill tumblr. Idk if many even know this, but I've been here since 2013 and like... we actually used to have that! Back in the day, if a chain got too long, it would be changed from a textpost to a link and simply link to a previous point in the chain. Yes, you could manually change it back to a textpost but you had to do so every time you reblogged the chain - if you forgot to do it even once, it would be impossible on the next reblog.

And like... that was bad! Everybody hated that! We all celebrated when they removed it, it was one of the greatest changes we had back in Ye Olden Days (I'm sure moving the reblog button to the bottom was similarly impactful but that was before my time)

Now they wanna go back to messing with the chain?? I thought these were supposed to be tumblr veterans, do they not remember?? @staff @support what the fuck are you thinking bringing back the spirit of something that was universally hated and everyone was grateful to be rid of?!

I pray we get to keep the chain functionalities as they are now because I'll be honest, I do not enjoy the thought of going back to the dark ages like this...
