Black Noir, Snapdragon, if you please.
Snapdragon: Deception, grace
Was this only supposed to be four hundred words? Whoops.
People assume that spending all your time in your uniform is a "supe thing." And why not? Almost all the other supes do it. You can't recall seeing any of them out of uniform, not that that's saying much. If you've learned any of your teammates' Christian names, you've long since forgotten them. People assume that you are the costume, that you are the name, and for the most part, it's true. What they don't realize is why For some supes, it's that they want to escape who they were before the name--maybe they were gawky, or poor, or anxious. Others simply like the thrill of the spotlight, seeing it as a sort of acting. Some enjoy the name recognition that the outfit brings, others enjoy the identity that they've crafted for themselves. For you... it's practical. At the beginning, you hated putting on the armor. You hated the way it hid you, the difficulty of movement in it, how long it took to put on. But as time has passed, as you've.... changed.... it's become easier. You enjoy blending with the shadows, you enjoy reading others while staying a blank slate, and thanks to years of practice, it no longer takes you three hours with an attendant to get dressed. Most of all, as you've trained, as you've gotten stronger, the armor no longer feels like a stiff prison; it has become a part of you, and you move silent as silk, stealthy as shadow, a blade in each hand. Someone spots you, and in a single fluid motion, her throat is slit. You catch her glass before it has a chance to shatter on the floor and set it down gently. You drop out the window, now inside the compound. Two guards: one with a cigarette, one with a gun. The man with the gun moves to investigate where you dropped out, but you've already slid behind his partner and slit his throat. His cigarette falls to the ground, and the formerly-smoking man clutches futilely at his throat. He turns and tries to beg the man with the gun for help before dropping. The man with the gun jumps back, swinging it wildly, trying to find you. You grab him by the head and force him to the ground--barely an effort at all. Each hand grabs a part of his jaw and you rip it apart, leaving him unable to scream. You move back inside, leaving the dead man out in the cold desert air. Voices: two men. You can hear them discussing... -- A catch phrase? Terrorists have catch phrases? You recognize one of them from your pre-mission briefing. He's Naqib, a supe. Your target. You sidle up behind Naqib's friend, who's not a supe--and silence him mid-word. That's when Naqib sees you. There's a moment where you lock eyes, whether he realizes it or not, and you hear him shout something in Arabic. A blinding white light, an incredible sound, and chunks of you--both flesh and plastic--are gone. You remain unmoved. Locking eyes with Naqib for the last time, you unsheathe your katana and remove Naqib's head in a single motion. He has no time to even react. Your wrist twitches and you have your fingers twisted in Naqib's hair before his head has a chance to hit the floor.
(Did my own writeup of this part.)

that scene in tlo where thalia tells percy he can't start feeling sorry for luke bc luke made his choices. and thalia reveals that the reason they couldn't make it to camp in time for all of them to make it to camp was bc luke kept picking fights. and annabeth never saw this as wrong bc luke was her hero. so thalia had to pick up the pieces. and percy thinking both that luke was put in a cruel position and that luke was putting others in a cruel position. and percy is the only character who understood both sides of luke bc annabeth sees only the best of him and thalia sees only the worst. and that's why percy is the prophecy kid and the one who gives luke the knife. bc annabeth had spent the entire series essentially giving luke the knife when he didn't deserve it. and thalia was never going to give luke the knife. but percy is the only one who can see exactly when luke deserves the knife.

something i feel like we don’t talk about nearly enough is the fact that percy is healed by water.
it’s so normal to us because it’s one of the first abilities we discovered he has. and it makes complete sense. but like… he’s the only demigod with that ability. jason doesn’t get healed by a gust of wind. hazel doesn’t get healed if she touches a diamond. nico doesn’t get healed if a skeleton gives him a hug. annabeth doesn’t get healed if she walks into a library.
like percy could be stabbed in the chest multiple times, he could break every bone in his body, he could be slammed in the head resulting in a crushed skull and hemorrhaging, but get him to some water fast enough and not only is he good as new in no time, but he’s stronger and freshly rejuvenated.
it’s insane when you think about it. no one else can do that. do you know how hard it is to kill percy? even if he’s not near the ocean, he can be healed by rivers and lakes and streams and ponds and all sorts of water sources. water recharges him. it makes him immediately stronger.
that’s a huge reason why i argue percy is the most powerful demigod. yes, he’s shown he has incredible super strength and super speed. yes, he’s a legendary sword fighter - arguably the best one alive. yes, he has control over air, land, and sea. (deadly hurricanes with heavy winds and thunder and lighting, huge volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, etc.) yes, he’s capable of mass destruction. yes he can single handlely cause natural disasters and mass casualties. and yes, he’s capable of controlling people’s bodily fluids, including their blood and saliva. he is terrifying
but even if someone manages to beat him, he dips one toe in some water and he’s immediately healed and even stronger than before. whether the injury is internal and external. he’s healed all on his own. no ambrosia or nectar or external remedies necessary.
guys. percy is insane. he’s way overpowered.
and i love it.

Knowing that Annabeth canonically had a crush on Percy since she was twelve was insane to me at first, but now, seeing the show, she probably loved him almost immediately. This dorky kid that chose her for a quest just because he knew she wanted to go.

anyway have any of you ever thought about how Jason was raised by wolves and then an army and told he had to be the best so he became the best, made himself the best using his experiences and power, who has to prove himself time and time again to the people who made him, and then he meets Percy Jackson who, with almost none of Jason’s training, without having been raised and molded into a leader, is better than him
Percy Jackson, who had a childhood, who had a mom, who seems all the better for it. Jason can finish his quests and missions and get a pat on the back and congratulations for bringing honor to the Legion and nothing else because that’s what’s expected of him, while Percy gets hugs and cookies and tears of relief and so much love because people had been hoping he’d succeed, not because it meant victory, but because it meant he'd live.
all of the things Jason’s gone through to make him that perfect leader and soldier feel like they were all for nothing because he looks at Percy Jackson and sees that perfect leader and soldier and none of the things that made Jason good are what made him great

crowley used the metal tool in season 1 to start time, and we learn that he's used it first to start space. to create the stars -- he still remembers how. he still remembers all of heaven's passwords: in the book crowley is described as an optimist because he has the "utter surety... that the universe would look after him". not god, but the universe. and of course he does: he helped create it and he's looking after it, too.
think about it: aziraphale had a sword, but crowley is about to face satan who wants to destroy the world, and crowley's only weapon is a tool of creation
