The Most Important Moments of Our Lives [Diasomnia, Lilia Vanrouge x Fae!Reader]

╰ Sometimes when you lie in bed, you like to reminisce about the old days. It's crazy how things can change so suddenly. And the biggest change you have noticed so far is your family life.

╰ At first you considered being an NRC student at your age as something odd, but having Lilia by your side definitely helped you gain confidence. To other people at school, you are just another average student because you have never revealed to anyone (except your closest friends) who you really are.

╰ Still, you are grateful to be here, as you can continue to watch over Malleus and Silver. While you don't spend much time with them during the school day, you like to ask them about their classes and if they got good grades when you finally return to the Diasomnia dormitory.

╰ Being Malleus’ babysitter was something you would never expect to happen. One time during the human-fae war you found youself wounded badly to the point where you couldn’t fight anymore for a very long time. You felt completely useless until one day you were given a very important task by Princess Meleanor.

╰ And then you found yourself alone with Lilia Vanrouge and an egg. But not just any egg, it was Meleanor's precious egg with her baby inside.

╰ Lilia used to tease you a lot when you first started helping him with little Malleus once he was finally out of the egg. In fact, you've never taken care of babies before, let alone dragon babies, so it wasn't an easy job for you.

╰ But as the years passed, you grew accustomed to your new life. When Malleus was older, you taught him many things, such as the proper use of magic. Even now, he looks up to you and asks you for advice. Sometimes, when you pass through the halls of NRC, you can hear some students making jokes about you being Malleus' secret lover, based on what they can see. This thought disgusts you, since you literally helped raise him many years ago.

╰ Raising Malleus and later Silver happened to be the thing that brought you and Lilia closer. During the war, the two of you weren't particularly close, but you still had some respect for each other. Until one day you became the 'parents' of a dragon egg. There were times when you considered leaving because of Lilia's teasing, but you knew you couldn't do that to Malleus.

╰ This experience taught you a lot, but you felt what it's like to be a parent for the first time the day Lilia found baby Silver. It was completely different compared to Malleus' situation. At first you were hesitant to take care of a human baby, but seeing it so small and vulnerable changed something in you. Quickly you and Lilia became Silver’s parents.

╰ Your current relationship with Malleus… Well, he refers to you as [Y/N] at your request, and in fact you two have grown to be very good friends. He doesn't spend as much time with you as he does with Lilia, but you're still important to him and he's grateful for everything you've done for him in the past. You also make sure that Malleus gets every invitation to any party he's invited to. You just want this boy to have the best possible time during his NRC years.

╰ Being Silver's adoptive parent has its ups and downs. Sometimes he falls asleep with his head on your lap while you stroke his hair and reminisce about the times when he was a child. After classes, Silver often comes to you for study sessions. You can't believe how attached you are to him, and you don't even want to think about losing him one day. He's still your son, after all, but you know that finding his real parents would be nothing but heartbreaking.

╰ There are days when you can't understand Sebek at all. The two of you aren't particularly close, but you still care for him like you do for the rest of your little Diasomnia family. He seems to be calmer when he's around you, after you got mad at him once when he woke up Silver. Other than that, Sebek is really respectful to you and sometimes even jealous when you're paying more attention to Silver.

╰ Last but not least is Lilia himself. You and he are the parents of the family, and even Malleus said once that the two of you eventually should get married. You don't deny that something happened between you and Lilia while you were raising Silver. But then this something just disappeared, and you can't even figure out why. The more years passed, the more Lilia became interested in trying out newer, more modern technologies and other things, while the rest of the time was spent with Silver.

╰ Until one evening, after a tiring day full of classes, after-school activities, and some Diasomnia business stuff, you finally entered your room and saw Lilia sitting on your windowsill. He was singing something under his breath while his fingers slid along the strings of his guitar. Then it hit you. It was the same old lullaby you used to sing to Silver when he was a baby. Tears immediately welled up in your eyes, while a small smile formed on your lips.

╰ “You remember that song word for word after all these years?” You asked, walking closer to him. Lilia stopped singing and turned to you, a chuckle coming from his mouth.

╰ “My dear, the most important moments of our lives should never be forgotten. And you singing this lullaby to Silver for the first time is certainly one of them.”

╰ There was a hope. A hope that this ‘something’ hasn't died yet. You didn't want to hide it anymore. The feeling of love you held for Lilia was finally ready to be revealed to him.

I think something to keep in mind re: the newer islanders comments regarding Foolish and Leo, regardless of how frustrating they are, is that it comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of qFoolish as a person, which is partially caused by the persona Foolish himself presents to everyone.

Foolish gives the impression of being a very open person who probably couldn't be bothered to keep too many secrets unless it was fun, a happy and impulsive spirit and just a general fun and chaotic person. He doesn't seem to take things too seriously, going with the flow and doing whatever seems most fun to him in the moment.

He doesn't seem like the type to get deeply attached. He doesn't seem like the type to keep secrets or hide how he is feeling. He doesn't seem like the type who would dwell enough on something that it causes him heartache, because he is impulsive, and free-spirited, and unattached, right?

He's playing with Capybaras, he's laughing with his friends, he's making jokes and playing around. Heck, he isn't even really talking about Leo that much - if you accept everything you see at face value like most of the newbies who never got to meet Leo or don't know qFoolish will, it must look like he's not all that upset about her being gone and isn't really thinking about it too much, right?

But the other islanders know. The ones who have known the eggs, and the ones that know Foolish, they all know the truth.

Bad has noted that he isn't sure other people have noticed, but he can tell that Foolish is hurting. Jaiden too has made comments a out how people don't take him seriously. Baghera left him alone with the concrete because it felt so wrong to swarm him in that moment that she knew was painful for him. And though I haven't seen comments from the others, I have no doubt all the other islanders who have been here for months wouldn't ever question how much Foolish loves and misses Leo. (Tina is the exception with the new islanders as she met Leo before joining the server and she knows Foolish is a good parent).

But the new islanders accept Foolish for how he presents himself. They see him laughing and playing and having fun and assume those are his true feelings and don't realise they are, but he is also hurting. They see him not bring Leo up and they don't realise it's not because he doesn't care, but because confronting his feelings isn't something he is good at. He prooved that when he ran away the moment he was directly asked about how he was feeling after finding Leo's message, or when he brushed off Bad's sympathy and rejected his offer of a hug (but did accept Bad's offer to stand near him, because at least it was something he could bring himself to accept...).

For Bagi it also doesn't help that she spends so much time with Bad, who is someone who is literally wearing his grief for all to see. No one is questioning that Bad is missing the eggs, because it's obvious. But just like no one (other than Foolish and Baghera) realised just how depressed Bad was in his vacation arch because of the carefree attitude he put on, Foolish's demeanor has made it so his grief is not obvious to those who aren't willing to look a bit deeper. Most people are willing to accept whatever they see on the surface, and not attempt to look beyond that. I'm sure other islanders other than Foolish are also being misunderstood - an example would be Tubbo's comment that no one seemed to care and no one was doing anything to find the eggs, without knowing about Bad's drastic actions, or Philza's breakdown over Tallulah's letter, or Fit's quiet grief, or Aypierre's increased drinking, or Roier's deterioration, and all the other things the parents and relatives of the missing eggs were feeling and going through.

Anyway I am rambling, but long story short it is frustrating when the new members don't understand the grief of Foolish because they accept his surface level persona, and that is something Foolish himself is perpetuating, but just remember that even if the new islanders don't understand, all the old islanders do. Even if they don't speak it out loud, and some are more obvious that others, they are all united with Foolish in their grief.

Luckily for you, I already have!

At least, for his face... but!! I'm going to do it again, because i have this sticker right on my keyboard of his face traced out (though it's missing his chin, chin stripe, and headphone...thingies????) so I've had a lot more time to be staring at his beautiful face more. That and I'm going to be making a tutorial for the rest of his body!

So yes, 2 rectangles, both placed in the middle axis of the big one and one of them being perpendicular. But, I think the sizes and placements should be changed a little - So! the middle rectangle should be on the bottom because I realized that in the old one, DJ would've had very small eyes with the old frame, which is NO BUENO!! He has colossal orbits, huge peepers, much like the jumping spiders that everyone just kind of collectively (and understandably) assumed he would be.

Additionally, I decided to make the blue, vertical rectangle in this almost like a square. I literally drew this already, stared at sticker, felt it didn't look right, so i stretched the fucker out and this is more... close I think. DJ's face is exceptionally wide which i feel is a learning curve since when we're making human faces, they are very Long instead. So more like square and then a rectangle at the bottom like it's being tucked in.

So, with the around the same width of the edges of the pink rectangle that protude out from the blue rectangle, make the chin as an extension of the blue rectangle at the bottom (in orange). And, very important, because the cheeks will be the base for a lot of the upcoming facial stuff, add the cheeks! make sure they kind of come off from the rectangular frame a little bit because they do that

SO! Guideline essentials for what I'm about to make next. From the middle of the cheek make a line down to the bottom (pink) - this marks where you will have the corners of his mouth end. There is the bottom of the cheek that you'll make a horizontal line for (magenta), and then there is the horizontal top of the bottom rectangle (orange). The orange-magenta lines mark the area where the bottom of his nose resides, and the magenta line is where the top lip and bottom of nose end.

I'm getting wayy too into guide-shit but. Nose! big circle 2 and little circles at the sides and his Mouth, this curvy little rectangle that just fits right up in the guidelines.

EYES. ORBS. HUGE

A quarter of them is kind of flush with the nose but they're BIG and very Circular

Smooth everything out? A problem that I have with making DJ is that he has some space with the eyebrows and the forehead but i just forget to draw it in favor making the eyebrows bigger

From the cheeks to the head and the face to the chin, it kinda curves in like that - and the edges of the teeth follow the edges of the blue rectangle from earlier.

Add the sharp/flat piano keys on the bottom of his teeth, and that's DJ's face!

Now onto the rest of his body!

Very big thing i will say to you. DJMM's body is stupid. It's wack as fuck. These proportions are outrageous. The neck is stupid thin and has such a stupid placement. The head is enourmous. What the fuck is going on here.

Okay so side view (holes in the sides are where the arms attach), and an above and below view.

the ??? i literally. i don't know what they are. they're these golden grommets on his back or something i have no idea what purpose they serve

Also, the hole, there's a big long hole that runs beside his bottom speakers.

His body is kind of polygonal? It's Egg shaped, but it might help you to know there is some edge to it. All of the circles are where the Joints attach to his body.

Speaking of joints, THOSE are the most wack thing about DJ by far.

His joints are built like this, where his arms have these little sockets at the joint? They're trying to make a ball and socket joint but because of the socket, they're severely limiting how much the arm can bend - the picture that I sent of him above this is the MOST his arms can bend without clipping into itself because of it and it. mm. It makes me mad esp because there's better ways of doing it

If you want to be super canon compliant you can add those but you can also do the Music Man method: just straight up being a ball and 2 sticks with no further details and it works just fine because no one will notice

The arms clipping into itself is always a little inevitable but man i can only wonder. was there truly no better way of doing it

The neck has these same joints as well, and with all of those together - you have a DJ! (add headphones and top hat as well. lol)

Anon, not only am I considering this, I'm sobbing just thinking about it.

✧ The Slytherin child has the classic Weasley ginger hair but the Gaunt genes really shine in the Gryffindor one. You remember when you first got news of their sorting you had joked to Ominis that "they were already breaking stereotypes".

✧ Dad!Ominis who acts so sweet around his children. Always making sure they have everything they need. Whenever the family goes on trips he literally pulls out a pile of scrolls with everything planned out. Down to which tourist destinations the family could visit, what the best restaurants are, what to do if they lost one of the children (one of these plans is not like the other). If the child from Gryffindor gets separated from the group, Ominis' plan is to buy a single shot of firewhiskey knowing the little brat will come running begging for a sip (a little kids ability to sense when their parent has alcohol of any sort so they can ask for a sip is a scary thing). The child from Slytherin is different since they won't get lost. They're still quite attached to their parents and are always clinging onto Ominis' leg like a snake wrapping around their prey. You think it's adorable and have zero problems with it as long as it doesn't interfere with Ominis' wand navigation, though it hasn't yet.

✧ The twins are a rowdy bunch. You'd think that since they're sorted into different houses they'd start a harmless rivalry but nope. They're menaces to both houses since they can share information they learned in their respective common rooms and come up with the best pranks possible. Doesn't help that their Uncle Garreth eggs them on and you know Ominis very much enjoys the chaos his kids cause so long as it's not too harmful. He used to mess with people himself back when he was still a student at Hogwarts after all.

Messy and short but these are all the thoughts I have right now for Dad!Ominis because I'm tired 😭

based on tarot. i do not know these idols personally. energies are always changing. what i say is NOT straight fact. pls take it with a grain of salt!

okay, remember i solely focused on the members' emotions here, so in general the energy is very messy. each member's feelings are pretty complicated and different, also a lot of it is surpressed, so much caution around what they express and what they keep to themselves. they seem to be walking on egg shells, esp when faced with the company, just having no choice but to accept whatever decision is made. you gotta remember they just debuted and are afraid of messing up by voicing their opinion impulsively. so they're just kinda nodding at everything, i feel like.

his priority is in the future and stability of the group.. you can tell he's the oldest just by his mindset, and the fact that many big decisions seem to be made by him. i can tell his previous experience helps him a lot in giving the newly debuted and more insecure members a push in confidence and braveness. he's encouraging them and trying to establish an attitude focused on hard work and patience, but also really wanting to keep the group in harmony. it's pretty interesting, because i literally can't see any glimpse of seunghan in here? he doesn't consider him much and believes if his hiatus is what had to happen for the group to get to a successful and stable place, then so be it. not much emotional attachment to the situation, very driven and work-focused mindset for him.

okay, he's definitely one of the more affected members. seunghan's hiatus seemed to have driven him to an anxious and tense state full of doubts, i can see him constantly worrying about the ways in which the negativity of the scandal could affect them. he felt pretty helpless, like he couldn't really do anything other than watching everything happen. there were different stages of emotion for him, from hopelessness to anxiety to feeling like this was a significant "rock bottom" moment for them. however, the 10 of swords is the last card of its suit (plus it transitioned in this spread starting from the 9 of swords), so things seem to have slowly moved up again considering the pentacles i got afterwards. i previously got the seven of pentacles for shotaro as well, so it seems like they're trying to just believe in the power of hard work and remain patient, believe in the process. there's this sense of optimism now, where they try to hold on to the belief that this might be beneficial in the long run.

phew, the situation messed him up for sure. i feel like he's especially stressed about the amount of things happening without him knowing. it seems like he didn't know about the things seunghan was doing. a lot of deception here.. he feels wronged and definitely blaming him here, thinking he was an idiot for spoiling the group in such a reckless and selfish manner. (no offense, that's what i'm picking up.) like i can tell he hates how the scandal affected the group's mood and harmony, he seems to be someone who truly values this collective feeling of contentment, wants everyone to be happy. he's someone very emotionally intelligent and mature though, so he's focused on being the bigger guy in this situation. (he's still the one arguing the most tho. like, stepping up and talking the most.) not sure if he's the leader, i don't know much about the group in general, but it seems like his mood has huge impact on the group's dynamic, which he's aware of. so he's trying to be the strong shoulder to lean on, though deep inside i can sense a lot of frustration.

so much major arcana, seems to be the most emotional one out of all them, very big feelings. it's very messy. i think he himself gets confused and overwhelmed by his emotions a lot. the scandal really stirred things up in him. it especially made him look back on himself a lot. i can tell wonbin is someone very focused on upholding a clean and faultless image, he cares a lot about what people think. so in a way, he believes seunghan was just being idiotic and immature. he thinks his band member should've been more responsible in what he does, since he's an idol now, and the result is just a cause of his impulsive actions. still, he seems to be the only member who actually genuinely felt bad for seunghan (like i'm not gonna lie, most of them don't care much about him and primarily about themselves 😬) and let him know he's there for him. i can see him hugging seunghan.

more than anything, sohee sees the situation as a new beginning for them. making the transition from the ace of pents to the 8 of pents, he believes it made them work even harder, putting in twice the effort, making sure the negativity of the situation doesn't stand in their way. it's almost like it gave him a push of motivation? the six of swords does have a bittersweet undertone, putting a member on hiatus wasn't his most ideal outcome. but idk, i can just see him trying to see the good side of it all. the eight of cups is kinda similar here, since it also indicates leaving something behind for the better. however, cups represent emotion. combined with the knight of pentacles, he's ready to leave behind what doesn't serve him anymore, or in this case a member who's continuously had "bad" influence on the group, despite there being certain emotions tied to him. he isn't over the moon happy, but at the end of it all, he thinks this was the right decision for the group's trajectory and their careers. anton moon&sun, 5ofw&star, queofsw&justice

anton is the third member i got the moon for, so they definitely felt lost and confused on how to deal with everything. a scandal happening so early in their career caused them to feel pretty insecure and uncertain. with the moon, there's also a sense of hiddenness. i can just tell communication is on the more difficult side for this group, since they're still getting to know each other. (i can see sungchan being the most vocal one, and the rest just kinda watching him shout?) anton is another member who felt a lot, thought a lot, but didn't really know how to express it, or how much to reveal. the five of wands definitely reveals a lot of conflict, external and internal. however the sun and the star card following the two negative ones, is a good indicator. he was able to avert his focus on his own goals and dreams. "he did it to himself, whatever." is the vibe i get. anton doesn't care much about things unless they concern himself, i will say. he seems like the type to believe in karma, so he doesn't really feel bad for seunghan persé, since he just should've known better in his eyes. he's just trying to move on from it without letting it affect him emotionally.

As I said, I've written the the duo/trio/group names down idgwjsy this is not all of it since idk some and I refuse to acknowledge MANY. (Will be updating constantly methinks)

I'm sorry for everyone who finds duo/trio/group names cringe and want them to end, but this is literally a way for me to organize stuff and make it easier for me. Yeah they're annoying sometimes, but duo names help me find art/analysis/general information about a friendship in the server without having to search up individual names. Because everyone has stuff other than that one specific friendship.

Like, if I search up 'Foolish Gamers' hoping to find some good Castleduo content, I will NOT find it easily. If I search up 'Foolish Gamers and Cellbit' I will only see stuff about them individually and not together. What I'm saying is, duo names are there (at least for me) for accessibility. And I don't WANT to combine their names because that's what fandoms usually do for romantic ships, which duo names are decidedly NOT.

But I do agree that the fandom should stop naming duos by the players' first random interaction. Stressduo? Really? Stop it, I BEG. At least think of something creative ToT

Hi girl, I've actually been thinking about things leading up to the vessel plan in FaaF

Personally I like to believe that PK got the idea from his foresight (literally haunted by the visions). It's been showing him void, so much suffocating, overwhelming void, and the brilliant, cold, pale white (yet faint) light containing it. His child, undeniably his child, sitting upon his throne - but they're wrong, twisted, a being of void. That's where he got the idea, how he realised he can make something stronger than a kingsmould to contain her.

It was a self-fulfilling prophecy.

And it ate him up alive. Can you imagine the horror he felt when he realised what he must do? Can you imagine what he felt when he had to tell his root?

She's wanted kids for so long, with him being on the fence, leaning towards no. He didn't believe he was going to be a good father, not now, it was never the right time, maybe in the future. But he could never promise her that and even though she so wanted to be a mother she never pushed it, having children was just not something to push and she didn't want her wyrm to force himself for her.

So asking her for her assistance felt...depraved and cruel, he hated to do this. She's always wanted children and he was now asking her to have them only to make hollow husks out of them, for no other reason but to treat them like tools. It twisted him up inside but it had to be done.

And when he came to her saying he had a solution she was initially happy and didn't understand why he looked so gloom. Wasn't this a good thing? He took her to his workshop and explained, not even being able to look her in the eyes.

And, although pained, her smile never left as she gently placed a hand on his cheek and made him look at her. She agreed readily, if it was what must be done then so be it. She was his wife and companion and she will follow him through this too.

Neither of them expected that having so many clutches would impact them this much. They knew the weight of the decision but in reality it was so much harder than what they've imagined.

It was hard for her to part with their first clutch. The rest would come easier with time, they were all loved but parting with them was a must, but the first one... She's gotten so attached, and it felt shameful to admit because she knew their purpose.

"Can't we keep at least one?"

"Oh, my root..."

"I know what you'll say, but..."

"A plague is not a time to raise a child," He looked at the pristine white egg in her hands and his heart ached, "...They would be a target..."

"...You agreed to assist the Deepnest queen. Won't that child be a target as well? A full-blooded child of gods would have even more resistant to the infection-"

"I know, my root, but they would not be immune, and there are many different ways to hurt a defenceless child. The situation with Herrah is an unique one, she knows the risks and is willing to take them, but if it were up to me-"

"They would not be defenceless with us-"

"My root."

"..."

"You know we can't. Not now. What life would that child have, constantly fearing for their life, constantly being cooped up by us, not being allowed the freedoms a healthy child should have...what kind of life is that?"

"...I know...I'm sorry, it's just-"

"Don't be. Don't ever apologise for something like this, my heart, I...I know... I understand..." He gently laid a hand on top of hers, "I'm sorry too..."

I think what Herrah asked of him felt like salt in the wound.

It pained him to ask her for her permission, after his last request no less. It almost felt like he was mocking her.

But she didn't see it that way, and she readily agreed again. She was always a close part in this, he wouldn't agree to anything else, she had to be a part of this arrangement or he wouldn't let it happen. She even promised him that if Herrah decided to make him a part of this child's life she will help him raise them and love them as if they were her own.

But it still felt so cruel.

I think, even though she agreed to it and assisted, seeing Herrah pregnant with his child would...hurt. She thought she was ready, she could handle it, and if that child was in his life she would help and love them as her own, but...it still hurt so deeply, in a way she could never describe. And he could feel it, that pang of hurt and jealousy when her eyes fell to the Deepnest queen's swollen stomach. Why could she bear his child, when theirs had to be doomed to this fate?

He'd find her once, crying in their room, and she'd tried to apologise but he hushed her. He understood, she needn't apologise. He should be the one begging for her forgiveness.

"...I don't hold it against you, or her, or that child, I just...I don't know why, I..."

"I understand my love. I'm so sorry, for everything, you don't deserve this..."

"Don't speak to me as if I had no hand in all of this, I knew what your plan entailed and I agreed wholeheartedly. I'm not some poor victim, my wyrm."

"...still, it..." He feel silent for a moment, "...Once it's all over, once the infection is gone..." He looked back up at her and stroked her cheek, "We can have ano- a child. We could-"

"My wyrm," Her voice was stern yet gentle in a way, "I don't want you forcing yourself into this."

"I'm not. I promise. I...I've been thinking about this for a long while. I want this child, I want to start a family with you. There is nothing I'd love more."

"My love..."

"Once it's safe we can try again, I promise. We'll have as many as your heart desires, a big lovely family."

She scooped him up and he wrapped his arms around her, pressing their foreheads together.

"And each of them will be loved more than anything in this world. I promise you that."

She couldn't help but smile, "Hmm, as many as my heart desires, you say~?"

"...Okay maybe a little less, lest you turn me into a breeding factory."

She couldn't help but laugh at that and pulled him in closer, "Oh, but how lovely you'd look..."

"My root please-"

"I'm just teasing, my love~"

The day he returned with the vessel was another hard one in their lives. She got so used to just feeling cold disappointment from him whenever he headed for the Abyss that when she felt this strong surge of emotions she instantly knew and her stomach twisted into knots.

Roughly an hour or two later he came to her, in her little recluse in the palace. It felt relieving when he finally showed up, she could hardly relax with that constant nagging feeling at the back of her head, the anticipation of seeing th- it.

"My root."

"I take it your search is complete? You found your pure vessel?"

"...Yes. I thought you should be the first one to see it."

"Well, let's see it then."

The king turned back towards the entrance, "Pure Vessel, to my side."

A tiny masked little thing peeked from behind the corner then made its way to stand beside the king, its movements a little clumsy which was to be expected from such small, stubby little thing. The lady kneeled in front of it, studying it close.

"It's smaller than I expected..."

"From my examination it seems they're a little over five years old, must have hatched only pretty recently."

"You already gave it a mask?"

"It's a bit clunky, but it'll do until I make it a pernament one."

She reached over and undid the straps holding the mask in place before pulling it away, the little vessel squinting visibly at her in her light.

"...It's quite photosensitive, I'm afraid."

"Unserstandable," She gently lifted their chin up to get a better look. Her heart ached, it looked so much like them... "Its birthplace isn't the brightest place in the kingdom, in all fairness." She put its mask back on, gently spinning the vessel around to fasten the straps back around its head.

She stood back up, almost amused at the fact that the vessel stayed in the exact same position as she left it in, turned away from her. She used one of her roots to gently turn it back around before looking back at her husband, her face falling.

"I appreciate the gesture, my wyrm, but this seed is not of me anymore. I've done my part in creating it, but I am not its mother, I do not wish to be a part in the rest of its training."

"...I understand, my root. Well, I— should better be going, I've called for the dreamers to meet us and they should be here any moment now."

"I'll see you later tonight, my love."

"I'll see you... Vessel, after me."

She sat back down, watching as the tiny thig stumbled after its fa-...king. Her heart ached as she looked away. It was going to be much harder than she expected.

i'm speedrunning this before work while my breakfast is cooking so BEAR WITH ME, i have SO MANY thoughts on my bbgrl

current list of h/c's: - ice skater kaeya, i will die on this hill. will have a post abt that one day b/c there's so much to it that i want to scream abt and Thoughts (tm) to be had (like him getting flustered??? OUGH i need to restrain myself) - speaking of flustered, he's really good at keeping his cool (pun fully intended, fight me) and he typically is the one who CAUSES the flustering. smooth af and KNOWS it - he likes to cause chaos and mayhem. a bit of a gremlin. mischievous man. perhaps a tad prankster in his bones. playful teasing bastard and has a lot of fun w/ it. - cold hands. nothing more. - when push comes to shove, Kaeya's the guy w/ the plan. like genuinely he's incredibly strategic and has the main plan, and like two or three back up plans. it's not even like an anxiety thing he just wants to be prepared, and he makes them up pretty last minute. - he's kind of an assassin-style character, y'know? not as much of a main fighter as he is a sneaky backstabber. roguish and charming but can and will yeet u type deal right??? - LOYAL to a GODDAMN FAULT. i TRULY believe this man's loyalty is unshakeable. like he'd do anything to the people he cherishes the most. and if he perceives u as a threat??? a threat to the things he cares about?????? ur on the list now and there's no escape. - incredibly perceptive! like he's really good at getting information from people already, but i feel like that just makes it a lot easier for him to notice when Something Is Up. it's hard to catch him unawares. - kaeya's great and i love him but he doesn't love himself and i'm sorry this man definitely feels like he's got really bad self esteem. First Impressions - Unfortunately I don't remember too much of my initial impressions of him bcs they were so long ago BUT Vaguely. I can remember being like "Oh this poor new guy is probably not going to last long..." and then "They need to stop bullying this poor guy just because he's ugly." Basically just me thinking he was going to have something unfortunate happen to him like Laurence's other lieutenants had, and not wanting to get too attached jic despite liking him. I think I doodled him once but it didn't rlly look like him.

Opinion Now - I love him SO MUCH he's my dirty little alley cat my best friend who gets pushed in lockers my beloved slug that people keep stepping on <3 <3 He really deserves so much more love from the fandom methinks shfks he's so silly. I love how salty he is about his relationship with Tem when compared to Ferris' because like, it's so valid of him to feel like that but also you WERE rude to Laurence so like. Deserved but not for as long as it went on.

Favourite Moment - Either the scene where Laurence feels bad so he sends him off to search the island with Temeraire and finds turtle eggs and gets very happy about them and Tem is like "I cannot believe he is Talking to me EWWW" or the scene where he gets proposed to the Russian girl (I forgor her name) and She looks away like... erm... while her mom is amused and the other guy is laughing because everyone does Not think he is suitable. It's so sad tbh :(( this poor man. Always going through it.

Idea for a Story - Ok I'm not an author but I would love absolutely anything to include his son, this man is a Father I would love to see more content including that sdhfks

Opinion Now - I love him and I feel so bad for him this poor poor boy. Congrats on the depressed dragon tho! I can't believe I forgot about his existence. If it helps make up my sins when I first read his name in my reread I was like "Omg!! Ferris!! Can't wait to see the horrors persist!" He's one of the characters who I just enjoy doodling thoughtlessly, much like Granby is.

Favourite Moment - UM either when he finds Laurence in Australia in hopes of working with him again (All of Laurence's crew are so loyal I love it sm (execpt for Martin. wtf Martin. And Dunne and Hackley ig)) or when Dyhern marries the woman he was into.

Idea for a Story - I'd love to see more of him and his family, maybe their reactions to him being dismissed. I know they were disappointed in him but I would like to see what exactly went down.

Guy who has no hopes of being brought back in to the service because of the reasons he was dismissed, yet chooses to be with his Former Captain anyways, because he was that much of a wonderful captain to him. His relationship with Forthing is a close second.

Favourite Headcanon - He and Granby are close friends and like to hang out together. I just really love the idea of them being besties.

I mean… what book did they read? When did Daemon make misogynistic remarks about his wives there? Neglected Laena? Groom Rhaenyra? Neglecting his children? All this is never named in the book. I remember that Daemon married two pretty badass women and that he completely accepted the fact of being below his wife, future queen. And that he left Baela, his daughter, a lot of freedom. Deceiving Rhaenyra is something that has never even been proven. And what are the other supposed betrayals named? In my memories, he is on Rhaenyra's side all along and literally dies for her cause and to avenge Lucerys.

Even for the show, Daemon didn't heal Rhaenyra, or make misogynistic remarks towards the women in his life.

Rhaena is the only child with whom a problem seems to exist (and non-existent in the book once again), and it is frankly ridiculous. I want to say that just because something is shown / said in a series does not necessarily make sense for the characters / narratively speaking, or even that it is screaming any truth. It's just a ridiculous and overlooked part of the storyline, no more no less. Other than that, Daemon seems like a decent dad to his kids and stepsons from what little we've seen (unlike the other dads in this series). Wow, Negligent Father: Make Baela learn High Valyrian himself. Go find dragon eggs for his babies himself with Rhaenyra. Try to comfort Viserys II when he cries. Defend his sons-in-law. Yes. Behavior reflecting overall parental neglect and disinterestedness… Let me laugh.

As for Daemon's so-called infidelities, none have taken place so far in the series. As for insults, I'm not sure it can be considered deeply misogynistic to insult a woman you hate and were forced to marry, + the daughter of a man he hates, working actively to steal his niece and wife's right to the throne… Basically, he insults a woman he hates, classic human behavior. And another woman who literally deserves so much insult I can barely name them. In the book, Daemon actually never insulted Alicent, apparently treating her as her position as queen demanded, although he despised her.

And… Whether it's the book version or the series… Wtf for Criston Cole?! BE A FEMINIST?! But what have these people smoked my word?!

Basically, this commentary is a mix of head canon, mixing series and book. How can they expect to be taken seriously?! This kind of comment baffles me. They're crazy, that's the only possible explanation.

Daemon

I don't think book!Daemon cheated on Rhaenyra with anyone, not even with Mysaria anymore. He also never neglected any child. And he hardly committed any sort of treason against Viserys or Rhaenyra so much as never taking to Viserys' orders that really just isolated them both.

However, Daemon called his wife Rhea Royce his "bronze bitch" told through his own writings. I say this in another post:

Remember him and Mysaria, when he attached her sex work to his "curse" of her when he realized she helped Rhaenyra become distrustful of him? And again, calling your wife an ugly bitch who resembles the ugly sheep of her ugly homeland because you hate that you were forced to marry her, and constantly, is misogyny.

Yeah, Rhaena Targaryen (rider of Dreamfyre and Queen Dowager) took her frustrations out on Androw Farman when Elissa left and took the dragon eggs, becoming less amenable to being married to him and stuck almost similarly to Daemon.

However, while Androw still had that incel quality jump out of him as soon as people around him began to mock him enough to actually kill only women (which I think shows how that misogyny was in him all along), Rhea Royce had done nothing and will continue to do nothing to Daemon. Daemon began the ill-will between them by being so obvious in his dislike for her. Rhea definitely had justified feelings of discontent towards him for this alone if for nothing else.

Daemon's taking his frustrations on her because she was available and the one he's tied to, but 1) She warranted less than Androw 2) Daemon will always have more grace as a man than Rhana, espe since we know he fucked his way around in a way Rhaena had to mask through marriage. Do I feel bad that he was forced at 16 to marry Rhea, yes. But Rhea did not ask for it and Daemon has his freedom. Yet Daemon implies that she is a bad feminine presence by using a word that uses her femaleness. and connecting to how undesirable she is specifically to him--she is not the "right" type of woman for him. And her entire identity becomes wrapped up in that. finally, you know he's said this about her several times.

Yes, Mysaria was a traitor to them and turned Rhaenyra against him. Why did he have to use her sex work past to define, emphasize, or characterize her treachery? Why are they put side by side? When we already have societal misogyny against female sex workers for being "loose", inferior women?

I agree that it is hypocritical (and just stupid) to stan Criston while criticizing Daemon when the book and show Critson are the most flagrant misogynist men in the story (aside from Aegon, Aemond, Borros Baratheon). In the show, he explicitly calls Rhaenyra a "cunt" after he says she is a spoiled woman and years after she rejected his nonsensical proposal...after he accepted the chance to sleep with her....after he quite obviously lusted after her for the years before her 18th name day.

Yeah, the show made a mess of what sort of consent he was giving to her in their sex scene; however, it's strange and contradictory for people to claim that he primarily proposed because he genuinely loved her...then go on to say or repeat that he only slept with her because he was afraid of her position and was her subordinate.

A woman who convinces herself to "love" or devote herself to a man is not in the same danger as a man subordinate to a woman who is herself and doesn't know how stable her position as heir/future Queen is on account of her society's inclination against female rulers.

I've claimed a paracetamol pill as my personal desk pet because I got too attached to throw it out. I pet it on occasion.

It's the end of the day, one hour away from my bedtime and fuck I am so tired and exhausted and sleepy. You really just wake up tired one day as an adult, and stay this way for the rest of your life, huh?

I've written a bit today, working on the salarian hug post and polished the Thane fic a bit more. By "writting" I mean debated for half an hour if I should make it a female salarian since I made the krogan a male to balance things out.

Which led to a looking up info about salarians and finding out their population is 90% males, leading to females having only the most important jobs. Also that Andromeda throws a bowling ball at the delicate champagne glasses tower that is the mass effect word building by making a single salarian woman work in a warehouse.

How their population stay alive, you ask? Their females birth clutches of eggs.

I decided to make it a guy in the end, might make the turian a woman then. Drell def guy bc I don't know what female drell are. Or maybe make it all guys? I want there to be a balance but I don't want to force it when I really wanted to write a guy so ehh.

I try not to talk about my writing process too much, it muddies up the final product. It's like magicians refusing to give up the secrets to their tricks. It's a very messy and clumsy process here back at the writing kitchens and I rather you think the finished piece was definitely well-thought out and made by a sane person.

Anyway so back to my pet pill.

I was cleaning my desk and apparently a pill fell out of a paracetamol sheet that I didn't notice until the next day. It's been open too long so it's contaminated by now and shouldn't be consumed. I was about to throw it away but I stopped and stared.

It's so...adorable?

The endearing oval shape, the lovely white colour. Flawless like a sheet of paper or a white daisy in a field. How much these little pills helped me through headaches. The cute cut in the middle of the pill to help you split it.

I have a vivid memory of the first time I have ever took paracetamol. I was young, around 7 years old and I had this migrane that wouldn't go away thanks to my dad passing me the genes.

My brother who was studying in med school at the time, gave me half a pill. I didn't know how to swallow pills yet, I choked on the first one and spit it out, only by the second time did I manage to get it down with so much water.

Look at me now, so used to meds I easily swallow 3 at a time with a small sip of juice through a straw. Sometimes down them with monster energy.

Anyway, so I took the half pill, which must have been like what? 250mg? If not less, because he might have just given me one quarter of a pill. 20 minutes later I'm fully out, slept through the entire day.

My blood was so pure back then, and resistance low. It was a fond memory, I got many headaches as a kid but I always suffered through them with a brave face and that was the first time I realised something as small as a couple grains of rice can bring so much relief.

I still suffer through the headaches, I try not to depend on pain killers too much since I don't want to build up an immunity and have to move on to stronger ones. I keep a balance yk? But today was unbearable and I gave in.

So that memory flashed through me when I saw that stray pill on the desk. I'll keep it there just to look at it, it feels like a friend.

I've been reading about the medicine and its history. Apparently, it targets different pain receivers than Ibuprofen, so the two of them could be used together for better pain relief. Also,

Cells are the same size right? So an ant and a human have the same size cells, just different amounts. Correct so far.

So the thing with cancer is, it happens by probability. All of us get cancer multiple times a day and our immune systems take care of it. It's only dangerous when it slips by long enough to become a tumor.

Now, based on the laws of probability, the more cells the higher risk of an error in cell division aka the higher the cancer risk? Right?

Wrong.

For some fucking reason, bigger animals than us with so many more cells, have very very veryyyy low cancer rates when they shouldn't. Take elephants or whales for example. Something in their genes either overcame the cell division error prone OR made their immune system much better at detecting stray cells that refuse to self destruct.

Analysing elephant genomes like TP53 gene showed that elephants developed a suppresser to stop damaged cells from dividing and ending the hydra before it could grow another head. As side effects, it lead to elephants having more cell deaths and low DNA repair mechanisms.

Elcors come to mind. Is the fact they still communicate by phormones rather than sounds related to some bargaining chip they had to cash in order to accommodate for their big sizes? Like we humans, paid a shit tone of gene money and got in gene debt for our brains that took so many years to pay off. That's why only the homosapians are left.

Where did the elcor genomes cash in all the saved up unused evolution points? And how did they exactly evolve to be self aware when most animals with their line of evolution end up as herd animals with survival and procreation as their only goal? Was it a mutation that lucked out or did natural evolution actually saw it benfical for them to develop self awareness in order to survive?

Are elcor just immune to all diseases, maybe? Do they have an especially naturally high success birth rate without the need for surgery or medical intervention? Are their stomach biomes simply superior, and they never get stomaches?

Dude all i knew before mass effect was far cry 4 and even then I used a bow! Dude I am not built for fps bc honestly mass effect is not the training you think it is. I played with a controller.

And yet...I'm actually good. It's like legit good! I am useful and my aim is good and I've helped people so many times. Plus, I have more to show up for than just aim like attention to details plus support capabilities, so I'm great in teams. At this rate, I might get deep rock galatic and join the public servers without fear of having shit aim while playing with strangers.

It feels...nice. Weird but nice. Almost like I'm invading someone else's community, even in mass effect I feel like I'm an outisder and it shows yk? My mom's birthday is soon, I'm preparing for it. I'm a little sad because I bought her handmade knitted flowers, a full bouquet of them in her favourite colour. And she loves knitting but can't anymore. I thought she'd love them but she didn't, my plan was to buy her a bouquet every major celebration until the house is full of them. I don't know how to knit but, it stings less that it's not me who made them at least.

And the page had very cute knitted dolls! I might order one for myself. They make it by hand and sent me pictures of the wool before they made it, their prices is too good too! Like knitting is super hard and time consuming, yet they sell it as the same price as regular flowers? They should charge more for it, I was prepared to pay much more, double their asking price even because I understand the luxury of handmade stuff.

I refunded a steam game recently because fanatical added it in a bundle and it's cheaper there. It's the third game I refunded this week yet steam were very understanding! It's a nice surprise.

I want to write more but I don't have the time or energy. I'm afraid I'll lose my readers attention. I also feel guilty whenever I see my regulars reblogging and liking older posts because it meant they came to my blog looking for updates and found nothing so they reread past stuff instead.
