hi crow!!!! for the oc ask game would 6, 14, and 26 be okay for cpt. north and/or firstmate south? :D
6-who will they take advice from, no matter what? who won't they take advice from, no matter what?
north is. badly headstrong. she doesnt like listening to people at all. that being said, their crews chronicler floyd is like the only one who can get her to consider advice. usually through threats of bad outcomes.
south is a lot like his sister but is more willing to take advice from like. older adults. people who seem like they know more than him. he'll always take advice from north, even if its obviously bad. will never take advice from ace, even if its good. does not like the guy.
14-would they agree with the term guilty pleasure? do they have any?
north considers them to be bad habits, not guilty pleasure. its an effort to get herself to quit. hers is smoking.
south does not and will never care. hes a pirate, why should he be guilty about doing anything? funnily enough doesnt have any tho
26-talent or effort?
effort for them both. north is really not the best captain and is constantly bettering herself for her crew. she sucked shit at sharpshooting when she started. south went to school to get better at navigating and to learn about the grandline.

✩♬₊˚.🎧Five songs I'm into right now!⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧▶︎
Tagged in one of my fav type of tag games by the marvelous @iron-sparrow and @dragonsongmakhali! Ty both so much for thinking of me!! I live to share tunes! (And partake in all the good stuff everyone else shares when these come around!)
(Also, I nicked your idea, Iron, and added the lyrics I liked too c': thanks fren! hahah )
I've included YouTube and Spotify links for folks who use both platforms. I am into a few songs atm! Not all Blorbette related. If they appear on the playlist I curate with my husband for our ragtag bunch of OCs I have marked them with a ✩ c:
Take Me To The River - Lorde's cover of Talking Heads Spotify | YouTube
Sixteen candles, there on my wall. And here I am, the biggest fool of them all.
Talking Heads are one of my all time favourite bands. Last year I read David Byrne's book about music and it was amazing! Anyway, I absolutely love when new artists I love cover old bands I love. Turns out Lorde (and others) just released a whole tribute album to one of the best albums of all time, Stop Making Sense. Lorde has been a big mainstay for me since 2012! Most of Lorde's covers bop too and this is absolutely no exception.
New Love - Ziggy Alberts✩ Spotify | YouTube
But if I stay like this what could become of everything dear that I've done? Like damming rivers that lead to seas, I've got to trust that some new love will find it's way back to me.
This song was just released last week! I was so happy! I love Ziggy, he's one of my fav young Aussie artists! It was a joy to be able to put him on the playlist for the Blorbettes. Like many of the songs husbo and I throw on there, it's not lyrically perfect for a setting like XIV. But it's got the right vibes.
War Pigs - T-Pain✩ Spotify | YouTube
Yeah time will tell on their power minds, making war just for fun (yeah) Treating people just like pawns in chess. Wait 'til their judgement day comes. This particular one is a Cal/Leon number and not related to the Blorbettes . But. When my husband played me this last year after adding it to our playlist, it absolutely blew me away and I have not stopped listening to it almost daily since. Even Ozzy agrees about it being the best cover of War Pigs ever, so I feel justified.
Eurus - The Oh Hellos Spotify | YouTube
But still the bait hanging from the string is calling my name. And like the wind it slips again, out of my fingers.
This is probably an all time fav song. It's on one of my non XIV writing playlists and so it has been on heavy rotation in my head and my heart for a long, long time now. And probably will be forever c': What I love most about it is the length and the way it builds and stops suddenly. It's a short song, that is very full, right until the moment it's over. A lot like the message in its lyrics!
Rings - Aesop Rock Spotify | YouTube
Shapes falling out of the fringe. All heart though we would have made cowardly kings. They will chop you down just to count your rings.
I am a big Aesop Rock fan. My husband got me into him many years ago and although he has many more recent tracks than this; including some wicked 8-bit tunes, this is probably my favorite song of his. It's also very vibes for me atm because work related shenanigans which I shan't give my precious blog space to any more than that c':
I thought about tagging some moots, but actually guys, I love music so much I'm leaving this as an open tag to all of you! I'd love to know what all the folks in our tumblr neighbourhood are listening to! Recommend me tunes! <33

If you would ask me what this is - I honestly cannot tell you. I was in a soft Ashton mood which got laced with some slight sub!Ashton feels too and I ended up writing this fic. It’s basically a feels dump so please feel free to skip it if you’re not in the mood.
Feedback is appreciated!  ❤️
warnings: anxiety attack. angst. comfort. slightest bit of D/s dynamics implied and talked about (Ashton calls reader Miss one time). countless nicknames for each other. soft loving for Ashton. confessions and deep talks. some fluffy feels.
- - - - -
It happened slowly and silently – nobody else would have caught it, the signs were so subtle that you thought that maybe even Ashton himself didn’t realize what was going on. Not yet. But you were way too familiar with your boyfriend’s mind and little ticks, reading his body language like no one else. His index finger tapped against his glass every now and then, little movements tying it all together as his nail made a sound when it knocked against it. You leaned into his shoulder and he let his hand fall into his lap, continuing his tapping on his knee until you gently grabbed his hand and squeezed it. It took him a moment, but a few seconds later he squeezed your hand back.
He seemed to calm down a little as you kept up the conversation with your friends, rubbing the back of his hand with your thumb soothingly. You felt his fingers lightly twitch a few more times, but he stayed mostly still after that – you kept an eye on him though. Ashton attempted to join in and for the next 20 minutes he was freely talking about something with the others, his nerves disappearing and turning into excitement. Then the conversation changed to another topic and his knees started bouncing, almost to the point that he started shaking the booth you were sitting in.
“Hey,” you made sure your voice was soft and calming as you rested your hand on his thigh, slowly rubbing his knee, applying only a light pressure on it to stop his nervous movements. “You’re okay there?”
“Yeah, sorry,” he shook his head quickly, letting out a chuckle. “Just– drumming. In my head. Can’t shake it, you know.”
But his eyes were telling you otherwise; the slight tension around his mouth as he smiled, the way he was leaning into you more and more, Adam’s apple bobbing as his throat worked around words he couldn’t say out loud. And if nothing else, the way he gripped your hand when you turned back to your friends was a dead giveaway. His fingers tapped against your hand under the table, thigh pressing against yours as his knee started bouncing again, his whole body starting to give off a nervous energy that you were way too familiar with.
You hummed at something the others were saying, fingers lightly tapping on your phone then putting it back into your bag. A second later Ashton stiffened next to you, his own phone buzzing in his pocket between the two of you. You nudged his arm as you gave him an encouraging smile, letting go of his hand.
“It’s okay, take it! I’m sure it’s Cal or Luke.”
Ashton nodded and slid out of the booth, already reaching for his pocket. He furrowed his eyebrows as he looked between the screen and you, but one small nod of your head made him turn around, disappearing behind the front door of the diner.
Your eyes searched the windows of the place, following Ashton’s form until you couldn’t see him anymore. A few minutes passed like this before you excused yourself to the bathroom, but instead slipped out of the door to the street, gaze landing on your boyfriend who was sitting on a nearby bench, legs still bouncing and wringing his hands, head hung low as he waited. You stepped closer and brushed your fingers through his hair at the back of his head, and Ash let out a choked breath before taking a lungful of air.
“What’s the matter, love?” you sat on his thigh as you wrapped your arms around his shoulders, and Ashton buried his face in your neck, his arms around you pulling you to his chest. “Hey, it’s okay, I’m here.”
“I’m sorry, Y/N, I’m– I’m sorry, I just…” Ash mumbled against your skin, words frantic as he leaned into you, fingers gripping the back of your dress.
“Sweetie, breathe with me,” you rested your chin on the top of his head, fingers going back to his neck to stroke his hair lightly. “Nice and easy, that’s it.”
Ashton let out another choked sound as he tried to match his breathing to yours, hiccupping as his breaths started to slow down. His cheek was cold against your neck, but the hot puffs of air on your skin let you know that he was calming down a bit. A kiss was pressed against his temple when his breathing was back to normal, and he pulled back slightly, rubbing away invisible tears from under his lashes.
“Better?” you rubbed his shoulder soothingly, and Ash just nodded, hands sliding down to your hips, not gripping you anymore, just holding onto you. “Anything I can help you with?”
“Thanks for giving me a way out, sweetheart,” he tilted his head towards you, foreheads lightly knocked together as he whispered.
“Of course, baby,” your thumb stroked his cheek and he leaned into the touch, a small sound leaving his lips. “You can always count on me.”
“Though, I was really confused,” he finally confessed, a shadow of a smile crossing his face. “Didn’t know why you were calling me when you were sitting right next to me.”
“Nobody needed to know what was going on. You needed a break and it’s my job to take care of you the best way I can.”
“It’s… still hard sometimes, you know?” he tucked his face back against your neck, inhaling your perfume and your scent deeply. “That I can… ask for things. That I don’t have to be the one taking care of everyone and dealing with every shitty situation. That I can let go and just… breathe.”
“You do that enough for others,” your voice was a soft caress against his ear, and a light shiver ran through Ashton’s body. “And I’m more than happy to do it for you.”
“Thank you, love,” he let out a content sigh as he burrowed even closer to you, and you kissed the top of his head in return.
“Of course, pretty,” you squeezed his body in a hug then slowly pulled back. “Do you want us to go home? It’s okay if you don’t feel like staying.”
“I don’t want to ruin your night out,” Ash shook his head, but you could see another flash of anxiety in his eyes.
“Can you do another 15 minutes?” you brushed a lock of hair behind his ear, and he nodded after a few seconds, whispering a quiet ‘yes’. “Okay. Come on, 15 minutes and then we leave. Show me how strong you can be, baby!”
Ashton nodded again and let you pull him up from the bench, giving you a quick hug before taking your hand and leading you back into the diner, acting like nothing had happened in the last 10 minutes. You settled back to the booth next to each other, hands clasped together under the table as you joined the conversation again, all the while stroking Ashton’s hand to keep him grounded. He was still tense, but his nervous twitching stopped and now quietly waited for you to leave the place together.
The promised 15 minutes passed, and you started shifting, pulling a few bills out of your purse and putting them on the table before turning to Ash, voice a bit strained.
“Can you take me home? I’m just… not feeling too well,” you lightly tugged on his hand as you turned towards your friends, giving them an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry; I think I need to skip the rest of the night. I think my migraine is coming back from the morning.”
“Let’s get going then,” Ashton was already out of the booth, reaching for your hand, his previous anxiety nowhere to be found; instead he turned on the charm that always swept everyone off their feet. “We don’t want you to get sick, it’s better if we get you home before that. Ladies, guys, always a pleasure!”
The two of you quickly said goodbye to the others, then Ashton took your hand and led you out of the diner, together making your way towards the car parked nearby. Once you’ve settled inside he turned to you, fingers lightly squeezing your knee.
“Thank you,” his voice was soft and quiet, and you smiled back at him.
“Of course. I’ve promised you 15 minutes and you waited it out so patiently, I’m really proud of you love,” you covered his hand with yours, stroking it lovingly.
“No. I wanted to thank you for… not telling them that… that it was me who needed to leave,” Ash stumbled over his words, fingers twitching under yours until you interlocked them, holding onto him like that.
“Told you, Ash,” you leaned over the console to press your lips against his cheek, making him flush a pretty pink colour. “I’ll always take care of you and protect you. You’ll always get what you need from me, I promised you. And I’m keeping that promise.”
“So– it’s okay if I ask for something? When we get home,” he bit into his bottom lip, and you nodded without hesitation, squeezing his hand one last time before letting him go.
“Whatever you need, my pretty boy.”
***
Ashton’s only request was to let him cuddle up to you, but you knew him better than that – knew what those small things were that would make him feel better, but he still wouldn’t dare ask for them, thinking that they were silly or not important enough for you to pay attention to. But that was the beauty of it all, that even without words you knew what he needed from you when he was having one of his moments.
Just as he told you only an hour ago, it was still hard for him to believe that he was allowed to take a step back and let someone else take care of him, let someone else deal with the world’s problems as he let himself breathe. He liked having control of the things surrounding him and especially his own mind and feelings, but somewhere along the way he started to lose that control. It was around that time that you came into his life, first only as a friend, and as he realized just how comfortable he was with you, a lover as well.
It still took him a long time to find the words how he really felt, how with you it was easier to breathe and face the world, how it meant everything to him that you were there during his best and worst, how your sweet words and soft touches were like a cure to his mind, body and soul. Many late night conversations later he finally confessed that sometimes he just wants someone to take care of him as well, to let someone take control instead of him. Your back rested against the headboard as you asked him to come closer, letting him rest his head in your lap, your fingers playing with his hair as he confided in you how he struggled with letting that control go, no matter how he tried.
That was the point when your dynamic slowly started to shift, your relationship now built on a different kind of trust and honesty as you helped Ashton face and voice his needs, letting him know that it was okay to ask for things from you too. It started with small stuff, 5 more minutes in bed, an extra kiss or hug before you left for work. Then came the cuddles while you watched TV, or you spooning him when he needed some extra love that day. He slowly started to open up, now letting you be the one who knew how to help him deal with his thoughts and feelings whenever he was losing himself. He still struggled, both wanting to take control of things and letting them go at the same time, making him anxious as he tried to find balance.
“Miss?”
The first time the name fell off his lips it surprised you – but it was Ashton’s way of letting you know that he needed you to take care of him without him really asking for it. Now it was natural, how you were his girlfriend and caretaker at the same time, how both your name and the title he gave you were a part of you that he loved and trusted, that you gave to him without a second thought.
“Come here, love,” you reached your hand out to him, and he shuffled closer, climbing onto the bed next to you.
When you got home you sent him to take a shower upstairs while you did the same in the downstairs bathroom, you finishing before him to make sure you have time to get ready for him. You changed into your sleep shorts and a soft shirt, opening the windows to let in some fresh air while fluffing up the pillows, dimming the lights just enough so it wouldn’t bother you during the night, but they would still bring comfort for Ashton.
You combed his damp hair back from his face, thumbs stroking his cheeks and the soft spots behind his ears, smoothing over his eyebrows and the corners of his eyes, pressing a kiss on his forehead and down on the bridge of his nose, lips brushing his lips in another sweet kiss.
“Pillow time?” you prompted, voice still soft and light as you stroked his hair at the nape of his neck.
“If it’s not too much to ask,” his fingers tangled into the hem of your shirt, tugging it a little as he rested his head on your shoulder.
“You know it’s not, sweetie,” you turned your head to kiss his temple, tapping his knee. “Alright, pillow time.”
Ashton pulled back until you slipped under the sheets and settled against the pillows, opening your arms for him, making him follow you as he climbed over you, resting his body on top of yours. His legs tangled with yours, arms wrapped around your middle while he put his head on your breasts, tucking his face against your skin to let your scent cloud his senses. He quickly found that this was his favourite place to be, close and cuddled up, your body like a soft pillow while you kissed and caressed him, making him let out content sighs as he finally let his mind turn off.
“Comfy?” your fingers teased the soft skin of his neck, drawing over the condor tattoo on the back, and Ash hummed, rubbing his cheek against your chest.
“Mhmm,” he shifted a little as he tried to match his breathing to yours, something he always did when he was anxious, knowing that it would calm him down too.
“Is there something you wanna talk about?” you asked a few minutes later, lightly rubbing the top of his spine. “Or just cuddles tonight? It’s okay to choose just one or both, you know. Whatever you need, baby.”
“I just… wanted to apologize for tonight,” he finally said, his shoulders tensing and you let your palms settle on them, soothingly rubbing at his muscles.
“Apology accepted, though I’m not sure why are you apologizing,” you tutted lightly, fingers stroking over his hair. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Ashton sighed, mumbling something before he shifted again, turning so he could fold his arms over your stomach, resting his chin on them. You reached for his cheek to rub your thumb over it, and he melted against your touch, letting out another sigh.
“I– don’t know if I’m good enough for your friends,” he confessed softly, resting his other cheek on his forearm. “I always feel like I have to be… someone, you know? Like they expect me to be… Ashton Irwin, not just… Ashton…”
“Did that give you performance anxiety?”
“Something like that, yeah,” he closed his eyes for a moment. “I just… I know how my friends feel about you… how much they love you. And I want your friends to like me too. I mean, we… spend so much time with my friends and that’s comfortable for me, but when it comes to your friends, I– I just…”
“It’s okay, Ash. You’re safe with me,” you squeezed his shoulders again, rubbing the knots forming there. “You can tell me.”
“I don’t want you to lose your friends because of me. I don’t want to take you away from them, and since they are important to you I want to share this with you just as I get to share my friends with you, but… I don’t know, I just…”
“Ash, I know the first few times can be scary, I’ve been there,” you lightly tugged on his hair as you looked into his eyes, a silent request for him to come closer, and he scooted up until you were facing each other, sharing a pillow. “And I know that’s because we have spent more time with your group than mine, and I’m already over this. And you’ve only met them a handful of times, and yeah, your position is quite different because of who you are. And sure, they were star-struck the first two or three times they saw you. But they also tell me time and time again how much they like you based on the time they’ve got to spend with you and how they hope you can make it to more gatherings because you genuinely seem like a nice guy. That’s why I asked if you wanted to come tonight…”
“…and I really wanted to…”
“And you did come,” you stroked the soft hair behind his ear, hand settling on his neck again. “For me that’s what matters. So we needed to skip the rest of the night? Big deal. You clearly had a bad case of anxiety, and there’s no shame in that.”
“I didn’t want to disappoint you,” Ashton whispered, clearly struggling with what happened.
“You haven’t,” you leaned forward to press your lips against his. “And I really appreciate your honesty with me. Thank you for letting me in and letting me know what is going on with you.”
“Thank you for listening and… understanding,” Ash finally let out a sigh, shoulders relaxing under your touch.
“I promise you I will consider this the next time we get invited, okay? We will talk about it and see how you’re feeling before we go. You can opt out if you’re not feeling it, I won’t mind it. But if you do want to come I will do my best to make sure you’re comfortable. Does that sound okay to you?”
“More than okay. Thank you, angel,” he scooted closer to rest his forehead against yours, and you nudged your nose against his, quietly humming.
“Ash?” his eyes opened, the smallest of smiles tugging at his lips. “I love you, pretty.”
“I love you too, Y/N,” he closed the short distance between the two of you, softly kissing you.
Ashton tucked his head back under your chin, finding his place in your arms as you went back to stroke his hair and neck, whispering words of love into the quiet of the room. His breath slowly evened out, his light snores tickling your neck where he burrowed against you. You let your eyes close as you followed the rising and falling of his chest, now matching your breathing to his to help you fall asleep.
In the end it was the soft thumping of his heart that lulled you to sleep.

Heat Waves (Chapter 1: A Warm Welcome)
Tumblr media
(Very) Brief Summary: Reader is a government contractor joining the team in Benghazi.  (Eventual Tanto x Reader) (2,684 words)
Chapter 2
Foreword: In this series, the reader will be loosely based off of Nikita from the TV show Nikita (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikita_(TV_series)). The reader has an extensive background in black-ops and is currently an independent contractor working with the department of defense in coordination with the executive branch. If you have any questions about the character, feel free to reach out to me and I can clarify. The story will generally follow the plot of the movie with the exception of a few scenes. Lastly, the POV will shift throughout the story, a change in POV will be signaled by a line.
Author’s Note: Hey guys! I have a full plot already set up but it has been a long time since I’ve written a fic. I’m so sorry if the writing is kinda shitty but I really wanted to get it down in writing. I hope you like it!
You closed your eyes and rested your head against the headrest, trying to find an ounce of comfort in the cramped seat. The dull hum of the plane was cut through by various murmurs amongst the travelers. After a minute or two, you deemed the effort fruitless, letting out a frustrated sigh. Instead, you opened your eyes and looked out the window, watching as the monotonous view trailed by. For the next several weeks, maybe even months, you’d once again become acclimated to discomfort. This shitty seat is probably as good as it gets, you thought. The department will likely have you shacked up in some storage closet on a grimy 20-year-old cot. You have had worse and at least you’d be occupied.
Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed Silva shift. You turned, watching him from a row back, across the aisle. He grimaced as he took off his wedding ring, putting it into a small metal container. He didn’t appear to notice your gaze as you turned your attention back to the window, the heat already radiating in. You felt sorry for him. Leaving people behind is never easy, especially kids. Luckily, you didn’t have that problem.
As the plane began its descent you skimmed the team comp in your head. You’d been thoroughly briefed on the contractors, on top of all the research you had done on your own. You were joining alongside Jack Silva. A family man in real estate. Pushed to fly back overseas for the money to support his family. From all that you had seen, he’s a good guy. He seemed to be good company. It’ll be nice to not be the only strange face, you thought.
You readied yourself. Benghazi is far worse than most believed. Ever since the department even suggested you might be helpful here, you’d been keeping track of the chaos. It was only a matter of time before it erupted into a full-blown civil war.
As the landing zone came into view you checked your hijab, making sure not a hair was out of place. You wore a casual white button-down shirt with a gray tank top underneath. You unfolded the sleeves, covering as much of your skin as possible. Given the heat, you’d love to run out in something a little more breathable, but the beige cargo pants would have to do. Next, you checked your “cello” case that sat in the seat next to you. Moving the strap towards you for a quick and effortless disembark. Being you had its perks, one of which was bringing some of your own firepower.
You cracked your neck as a familiar ding came over the com.
“Welcome to Benghazi.”
_
The two men settled into the car, watching over all the civilians walking past. Rone leaned forward, pulling a handgun out of the back of his pants. “It’s loaded.” Jack accepted the gun readily, cocking it within his lap.
“How’s the team here?”
“Good. Three ex-marines, one ex-army ranger. It’ll be nice to have some more team guys around.”
Jack briefly glanced back at Rone. “Guys?”
“Yeah. We’re waiting on one more before we head out.”
“You work with him before?”
“Nope. Defense department assigned her.”
Jack furrowed his brow slightly, pursing his lips in surprise. “Alrighty then, what’s she look like?” Jack looked more intently for another westerner standing out like a sore thumb.
“No idea. I’ve been told that she will find us.”
“Oh how ominous.” A smile tugged at the corner of his lip.
Rone hummed in agreement as he eyed the rearview mirror. Out of the crowd, a body began to beeline towards the car. “Think that’s her.”
Jack nonchalantly stretched, turning towards the back of the car to catch a look.
_
You approached the dust-covered truck, already craving shade from the burning sun. Your sunglasses did little to protect your eyes from the glare off of the ground. As you got closer, you could see Tyrone eying you from the side mirrors. You adjusted the straps of both your cello case and your duffel, making sure not to make any sudden movements. You made your way to the driver’s side door, turning to face him. “You Tyrone?” you asked, knowing full well it was.
“Yes, Ma’am. And you are?”
“Y/N.”
“Nice to meet you, Y/N. Hop in.”
You nodded, moving back towards the rear of the car. Swinging the back door open, you threw your stuff onto the ground next to the seat. Leaving just enough room for you to climb in. As you sat down, you angled yourself towards Jack so that you could have a proper introduction. He noticed your movement, turning back to face you. He reached out his hand for a handshake.
“Jack Silva”
You took his hand. “Y/N.”
He settled back into his seat as Rone started the car. “Just Y/N?”
“Just Y/N.” You affirmed.
As Rone made his way through the city they began to catch up, making friendly jabs at each other. You yanked your duffel towards you, rummaging through the various clothes. You could feel Jack’s eyes peeking at you ever so often through the mirror, making sure you weren’t doing anything unsavory. Trust is earned.  Finally, you found your shoulder holster. You unbuttoned your shirt, throwing it on the seat beside you. You put on the holster, adjusting the straps as needed so that it sat comfortably. After you were satisfied you again began to look through your luggage, pulling out two black pistols. You loaded a magazine into both of the guns. The sound quickly drew the attention of both men as the conversation briefly paused before they returned to their conversation. You paid them no mind, knowing that any response would probably make them more antsy. You then cocked them before placing them within your holster. Grabbing your shirt, you put it back on, leaving it unbuttoned. It was opaque enough to conceal your firearms as long as no one looked too close.
“So, Y/N,” Rone directing the conversation towards you, “The Defense Department didn’t tell me much about you. What branch you from?”
You turned from watching out the side of the car. “Covert operations.”
That definitely piqued his interest. Jack let Rone do the questioning, but it was clear he was just as curious as him.
“Alright. SEAL Team?”
“Uh, no. It’s a little more complicated.”
“Oh I get it, you’re on some James Bond shit huh.” He chuckled to himself as you smiled and rolled your eyes.
“Pretty much.”
Rone left the questioning there, knowing he’d probably not get much more of an answer, at least not until you’d come to know him a bit better. The two of them shared a look before the car came to a sudden stop.
“Shit. No, no, no, no, no this isn’t good.” Rone’s body tensed as he assessed the situation.
Civilians began to run around the car, whimpering in fear. You straightened up, readying for a shit show. You positioned yourself in the middle of the back, between the two men so you could see as much as possible through the windshield.
“Fuck.” Rone’s discomfort quickly seeped through his cool resolve. “Who the fuck are these guys?”
“What do we got?” Jack stayed still, his eyes scanning over the various armed men.
“Brigade we coordinate with, February Seventeenth Martyrs. This ain’t them.” He looked back past you and he switched into reverse. Moving back a few feet, the path was blocked and the car jolted forward. “Shit we’re boxed in.”
You settled on your knees, carefully unclipping the straps keeping your guns in place, just in case. Both men leaned out of the window. Jack looking up towards the man on the balcony readied to run.
“We bailing?” He asked, voice calm and collected.
Rone, giving no response, pulled out his radio. “Base this is Rone. Come in, over.”
“This is Base, go Rone.”
“I’m in a Jam off Fifth Ring Road. I’m lookin’ at about 8 armed tangos here.”
“Copy that, sit tight.”
“Sit tight, that’s great advice.” Everyone in the car became increasingly more agitated as the armed militia made its way in your direction.
You took a deep breath. “If we’re bailing we gotta do it now.” You glanced at your bags. You could leave the duffel. There wasn’t anything particularly important in there. The case on the other hand couldn’t be lost to a rampant terrorist cell, if you did, the government would be up your ass about it for at least another 10 years. You fidgeted slightly, knowing that the opportunity to flee was about to pass.
Jack clenched his jaw. “They got a KPV.”
Fuck this is bad.
“Base we ain’t got all day.”
“Hey, Rone. They’re trying to get Feb 17 to back you up, but we’re coming.”
Deeming that transmission utterly useless, Rone whipped out his cell. “Oz I’m in a jam of Fifth Ring.”
“Ty.” Jack interjected as the men became uncomfortably close.
“Rone, 17 Feb QRF is being alerted.”
“Fuck that, the only Quick Reaction force I want is my guys.” Without an immediate response, Rone continued on. “Send them. I want my guys.” He said more adamantly.
“Negative, Rone. Just hang in there.”
“Maybe I’m not making myself clear. I’m looking at multiple radical insurgents with AKs and a 50-cal technical set to blow my rover all the way back to Zimbabwe. Over.”
You watched as a man dressed in a disheveled suit made his way around the vehicles and debris. He’s the big guy.
“It’s not my call, brother.”
Goddamnit. Looks like we’re either talking our way through this, or we go out quick. The thought gave you the slightest bit of comfort.
Rone looked towards Jack frustrated. You could sense he felt an inch of guilt for getting his friend stuck in this hellhole.
“Here we go.” Jack said nonchalantly as he could given the circumstances.
You crossed your arms, giving yourself easy access to your handguns without looking too conspicuous. A man stood at the front of the rover, yelling something you couldn’t understand. He pointed his AK right at you, maybe it wasn’t on purpose but you couldn’t help but mentally scoff. Well, that’s not very nice.
“Welcome to Benghazi.”
The man in front banged on the hood as the leader moved towards the driver’s side window. Jack raised his hands up innocently as Rone smiled at the man.
“Salaam.” Rone raised his badge up to the man in the suit as he gazed at him incredulously. “Libyan visa. Official. Libyan government.” The leader looked him up and down.
The guy with the AK was now in Jack’s face. His gaze shifted forward, doing his best to remain calm despite the barrel of a gun being inches from his forehead.
“Friendly? Hm? Friendly?” Rone again gestured with his badge.
Rone whatever game you’re playing it better fucking work because last time I checked a friend of Al-Qaeda is no friend of ours. You did your best to blend into the back of the car, feigning as the harmless woman.
“Pull over for inspection.” The leader said sternly.
Rone shook his head. “No.”
“Pull over for inspection!” He was now angry, his voice shaking with every word.
Alright, this is how it’s gonna go. You crept your hands slightly closer to your guns.
Rone’s voice remained steady. “I’m sorry, sir. I can’t do that.”
The man at Jack’s door yelled once more. Banging his palm against the dirty surface. Then the slightest movement came from Jack.
It’s showtime. You thought. You gripped your pistols and whipped them forward, pointing them as the secondary soldier positioned at the front of the rover. Jack and Rone acted similarly with Jack’s gun pointed across at the leader, and Rone’s gun pointed at the soldier beside the door. The soldier at the front adjusted his AK, pointing it more fervently towards the car.
“Look up.” Rone pointed towards the sky with his empty hand, never moving his gaze from the leader’s eyes. “Go ahead, look up.” Some of the aggression left the leader as he looked towards the sky, confused. “You see the drone?” The man looked back down. “No? That’s okay. The drone sees you.”
Nice play, Rone. You thought to yourself. A couple of Americans? No problem. We don’t pose that much of a threat. But good ol’ American air support? Now that carries a little weight.
“Sees your face. We know who you are.”
Jack, facing the soldier at his door, swallows hard. Keeping with Rone’s power play, he maintains eye contact.
“If anything happens to us, your home, your family, boom, gone. Give us the order to let us go.”
Jack, looking past the AK in his face, doesn’t flinch as the soldier gestures with his gun.
 “I want the car!”
Within a brief moment, Jack and Rone switched their aim, with Jack now pointing his handgun at the soldier and Rone at the leader. You flinched ever so slightly at the movement, but you remained steady, watching for any worrisome movement amongst the militia. Adrenaline pumped through your veins as you could feel your heart pounding in your chest. You ignored the harsh metal of the rover digging into your knees. This was your guys’ only shot to make it out of this cramped alley. They had to think your little caravan of three had the power of the entire U.S. military revolving overhead when in reality, you were just three Americans with a couple of guns in the middle of fuckin nowhere.
“No, I’m not gonna do that.” Jack shakes his head, leaning forward towards the man. The energy around the car was beginning to shift. Despite the KPV having enough firepower to destroy your car, and about 5 cars behind you, you three possessed the upper hand. They recoiled at the barrel of your guns, not the other way around.
The leader’s eyes began to soften, his harsh exterior falling at the thought of losing everything. For a moment, you actually pitied him. “I earn the right to decide the future of my country.” You understood the sentiment behind his words. Once again the U.S. had shoved itself into the center of a country, with no right to do so. But you, and the men sat beside you, just wanted to keep others safe. You had no agenda.
“You’re talking to the wrong guy. How willing are you to die for your country? I’m ready to go right here, right now.” Easy, Tyrone. Don’t push it too far.
The leader’s frown deepened as he considered the weight of Rone’s words. He slowly backed away from the car. “Leave here. While you still can.”
You stopped yourself from relaxing your figure even though it felt like the weight of the world had just been lifted off your shoulders. Rone leaned back into his seat, beginning to maneuver the car between the debris. Jack slowly lowered his pistol to the door as the car inched forward. You followed suit and lowered your guns into your lap. You could hear the leader yelling to his men, and their posture relaxed enough to show they weren’t an immediate threat. Air filled your lungs for the first time in what felt like 5 minutes, before you looked behind through the dusty back window, making sure the leader was true to his word and you weren’t about to get shot in the back. You settled back onto your seat, leaning back against the warm metal. You debated holstering your weapons but decided it was best to have them at the ready until you were within the walls of the base.
“We got air support?” Jack’s voice was calm but demanding. You knew the answer to his question but left Rone to give him the bad news. Rone didn’t take his eyes off of the road as he did his best to make it back to base in one piece.
“We don’t have any fucking support.”

Random Thoughts on Sweet Magnolias
****Warning: Spoilers****
This is one of those shows that is pleasant to have on in the background. Not jaw-dropping or cliff-hangery. Just a little slice of life drama that’s pretty heavy on the romance.
Of the three main women, Helen is probably my favorite because she’s so smart, strong, and supportive and Maddie’s my least favorite just because she’s a little bland and boring. Dana Sue can be annoying at times especially when it comes to Annie, but I have an emotional temperament similar to hers so I get it.
Of the main men, Ronnie is hands down my favorite. I like his redemption arc with Dana Sue plus man can rock a shirtless scene. 🤭 Erik is incredibly sweet and I would want a guy like him in real life, but he’s a smidge boring. Cal is OK, but his story lines don’t match his temperament. He’s super chill but we’re supposed to believe he struggles with anger issues? I’m usually all about high school sweethearts but Ryan can go.
The accents and the cutesy phrases. Southern folks don’t talk like that. Dana Sue’s accent in particular I was like are you trying to be from New Orleans?
Wardrobe is very hit or miss. Maddie dresses a little too floral. Dana Sue isn’t always dressed for her body type. They pick some really lovely colors for Helen’s complexion, but that short/shirt combo from earlier in the season was hideous.
Bill is no favorite of mine but Maddie blowing her top when he told her Isaac was his son was too much. It didn’t make sense. He was a teen when it happened and he didn’t know. Slow your roll.
I wanted more Peggy and Jackson/Annie. Peggy intrigues me with her backstory and her relationship with her mom. Jackson/Annie are just cute. They’ve got a strong Nathan/Haley vibe so I’m digging that. (Although I read somewhere that Annie/Ty are end game in the books. I’d be OK if the tv show tweaked that ending. I think Jackson/Annie are cuter).
Noreen kind of grew on me. She was really annoying in season 1 but after she apologized to Maddie I started liking her a lot more.
Do I spy another secret baby story line with Frances and older guy who was pining for her? Why’d she give Dana Sue all that money and not to all 3 of the women?
Kyle was a little tiresome at the beginning but seeing him get into the whole video game project really brought back his likability.
Mary Von is the true villain.

Pairing: Calum Hood x Reader
Words: 2100+
Author's Note: from the prompts- "Fuck it- do you wanna get married?"/ "I don't want to be just friends with you." - I have created this! I hope you enjoy it 🖤
I looked at the engagement rings, chewing on my bottom lip as I know I shouldn't even take a single glance at them. Calum's never mentioned anything about getting married and every time I talk about it he seems to change the topic of conversation, doing everything he can to avoid it. A frown comes to my lips as I let out a sigh, beginning to walk away from the jewelry case when I bump into someone.
"Fuck, I'm sorry-" I stated and look up to see Ashton standing there, a grin on his lips. "Ash, hey."
"Hey, angel. Whatcha doin’ over here?" He asks and takes a glance towards the rings.
I let out a dry laugh, looking over my shoulder quickly before returning my gaze to him. "Nothing. Just browsing, imagining what it'd be like to be engaged to the love of my life," I mumble louder than intended and Ashton frowns a bit.
"Alright, come on," Ashton mentions and grabs my hand, leading me out of the jewelry store and towards the food court. We sit down at a table and I fold my arms, leaning against the marble top. "What's going on?"
I chew on my lip, wondering if it's a good idea to vent to my boyfriend's best friend. "I just… I just feel like I'm in a dead relationship. Well, not like I don't love him because I do and I know he loves me, but I don't think he wants to get married," I explain with a huff and Ashton's hazel eyes squint a bit as he tilts his head.
"How do you know that?"
"Because every time I bring it up to him he changes the subject. He never answers any questions I have about it," I tell him and Ashton hums, nodding his head.
"Well, you know how Calum is. He wasn't even one for love until he fell for you," Ash states and I nod my head, remembering the time Calum had surprisingly asked me to be his.
I was waiting at the airport for Michael, bouncing on my heels as my heart was pounding in my chest. This is the first time I've ever left the U.S., going to a country I know nothing about to surprise a guy I've been in love with for years.
"I'm almost there!" Michael's text says as I look at the lit-up screen for the tenth time in two minutes. I release a breath from my lips, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear as I stood outside of the airport.
My phone vibrates in my hand and I glance down at it, thinking it'd be Michael but it was actually Cal. I swallow thickly before answering the phone, pressing the phone to my ear.
"Hey, Cal," I greet, a smile on my lips as just a sigh comes through in answer. My smile falls along with my heart. "Cal? What's wrong?"
"I just… I wanna come home. I miss you," his voice comes through the phone and I look towards the ground, chewing on my lip. "Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. I mean, we're two weeks from the end of the tour and now is the time for me to just mess up everything."
A car pulls up in front of me, the window rolling down to reveal Michael's face. His smile drops when he sees the frown on my lips, motioning towards the phone. "Who is it?" He mouths and I step towards the vehicle.
"Cal," I mouth back as Calum continues to rant to me about how luck wasn't on his side.
Michael's eyebrows furrowed together as I put my bags into the backseat before climbing in myself.
"Y/N? Are you listening to me?" Cal's voice comes through the phone and I nod my head even though he can't see me.
"Yeah, bub. I am. I was just trying to get this freaking pan into the oven," I chuckle and I sigh in relief when I hear him laugh as well. "I'm sorry you think your luck is running out. Maybe you just need a nice day to yourself. Take a hot bath, cuddle in your king-sized bed they have you in."
Calum laughs once more as I grin ear to ear, hoping he'll take my advice so I can surprise his cute ass. "You know that does sound amazing. We're not doing anything important today anyway," he exclaims and I giggle.
"Good. I'll see you in a few weeks?" I asked, biting my bottom lip.
"Yeah. I'll see you in a few weeks, cutie," he mumbled and I bid him goodbye before hanging up the phone.
I set my phone in my lap, laying my head against the seat as Michael turns around to face me. "What happened?" He asked and I look over at him.
"Cal's just really feeling down. He feels responsible for a bunch of shit he screwed up on. I told him to take a day in which would be perfect since I'm surprising him and all," I tell him and he nods his head, pushing his glasses up.
"You finally gonna tell him about your feelings?" He questions and I give him a soft glare.
"I told Ashton not to tell anybody," I groan lay my head in my hands.
Michael laughs and I can hear him shuffle in his seat. "Ashton didn't tell me. I'm just not blind," he informs me and I snap my head up, my eyes wide.
"It's obvious??" I whisper and Michael nods his head, giggling again. "Fuck me."
"That's Cal's job, not mine."
I scoff, pushing Michael's head away from mine as he laughs loudly, turning back around in his seat as I shake my head. "I hate you."
"No, you don't."
We made it to the hotel in about twenty minutes, thanking the gods that traffic wasn't absolutely crazy. Michael hands me a key to Calum's room, wishing me luck before practically pushing me into the elevator.
I take deep breaths, watching the floor number climb. I wipe my hands on my jeans, feeling them become a bit sweaty. "It's just Calum," I tell myself as I let out a dry laugh.
The elevator stops on the fifteenth floor and I step off of it, looking at the key to see the room number on it. I glance to my left then right, reading the numbers to myself before stopping at the correct door.
"Should I just go in? Or knock?" I mumble quietly before placing the room key into the lock. I open the door, hearing the bath running before Calum's voice calls out.
"Ashton! I said I'm fine. I just need a few hours to-" he cuts himself off as he rounds the corner, a towel in his hands as he was wearing a tank top and basketball shorts. His honey-brown eyes widen at the sight of me, the towel dropping from his hands. "Y/N?"
"Hey, Cal, surprise," I giggle as the door closes behind me.
"Holy shit," he whispers before running over to me, wrapping his arms around my waist before picking me up. I wrap my arms around his neck, my eyes closing as I take the scent of him in. "I can't believe you're here. What- wait so when I asked if you were listening?"
"I was actually in the car on the way here, not putting a pan into the oven," I confess and bite my lip softly.
His eyes move to my lips and my heart began to pound against my ribcage. Calum sets me back on my feet, one of his hands moving to my face as his fingers grazed my cheek. "I don't want to be just friends with you anymore," Cal tells me and my breath hitches in my throat, my fingers gripping the back of his shirt. "Go out with me? Be mine?"
A smile forms on my lips as I close the distance between our faces, my lips ghosting over his plump ones. "I've been yours for years," I whisper back before connecting our lips.
I walk into the door of our shared place, still thinking about what Ashton had told me earlier. I can hear something sizzling as I slide my shoes off and place my bag onto the table by the door. "Cal? Baby?" I call out and head towards the kitchen.
Duke let's out a bark and comes running towards me, a smile taking over the frown on my lips and I crouch down. "Hi, doll," Cal greets and I look up at the brunette. My heart flutters as he wears a smile on his plump lips.
"Hey, baby," I mumble and stand up, heading towards him. I wrap my arms around his waist, feeling one of his drapes over my shoulders. I close my eyes, taking a deep breath as I keep the tears from falling. "I love you… so much."
"I love you too, sweetness. What's wrong?" He asks and pulls away from me, casting his brown eyes down at me.
My throat closes a bit, swallowing hard as I quickly glance at the floor. "I just… we need to talk," I mumble and look up at him, his eyebrows furrowed together.
"Okay, talk to me," Calum mentions as his hands move to mine, interlacing our fingers.
"H-What do you want out of this?" I ask him, motioning between the two of us.
Cal frowns a bit, squeezing my hands as he licks his lips. "I-What do you mean?"
A sigh leaves my lips as I pull my hands out of his, seeing the hurt in his brown eyes. "Like, in the future- Am I gonna be apart of your life? Or am I only in your life for a few years before you move on?" I question him as my eyes prick with tears.
"I don't want anyone else," he whispers and reaches for your hands, only to have you back up slightly. "Baby-"
"Then how come every time I bring up marriage you avoid it like the plague? I want to get married, Cal. I wanna have that cliche wedding where we both cry at the altar because we're finally tying the knot. I-I can't stay with you if you don't want that…" I trail off, a tear gliding down my cheek.
Calum gave me a pleading look as he stepped closer to me. I didn't move, feeling his hand touch the tear on my face before he wiped it away. "Goddamnit," he whispers and looks to the floor for a second before looking back up at me. "I didn't want to do it this way."
"Cal? Do what?" I ask him as he runs his hands through his hair.
"Fuck it- do you wanna get married?" Calum blurts out and my lips part, shaking my head at him.
"Don't do it. Don't do something just because I want it. I want you to want it," I mumble to him and begin to head towards the door. "I gotta go."
Calum runs in front of me, stopping me from going any farther. "No, no, no wait. Please don't go. I-I'm not doing this because you want it. I… just wait right here, okay?" He pleads desperately and I nod my head.
He runs down the hallway and into the bedroom. I watch as Duke runs after him, a small giggle leaving my lips. I lace my fingers together, hearing Calum come back out as my eyes drift towards him.
"I, uhm, I actually bought this month's ago," he mumbled while fiddling with the small velvet box in his large hands. "The reason why I avoided it was because I was planning to ask you to marry me and I knew if I started talking about it I'd somehow ruin the surprise," he explains and my heart flutters in my chest.
"Cal…" I whispered as tears came to my eyes. He opens the box, showing a beautiful engagement ring sitting in the pillow. The same one I was eyeing earlier today.
"So? Will you marry me?" Calum asks, his brown eyes full of hope as I nod my head, a laugh coming from my lips.
He lets out a sigh of relief, taking the ring out and closes the box before taking a hold of my left hand. Calum slides the ring onto my finger and I bring my free hand to the back of his neck, connecting our lips together in a quick kiss.
"I'm sorry about earlier. I just thought-"
"It's okay, baby girl," he chuckles and presses a feathery kiss to my lips. "I love you."
"I love you so much, Cal," I grin and look down at the ring on my finger.
"It looks better than I imagined," Calum whispers and leans his forehead against mine. I close my eyes, my fingers combing through his hair. "Can't wait to call you Mrs. Hood."

Imagine Sokka and Azula getting stuck babysitting together and it being chaos.
Azula entered the room she was instructed to by Zuko’s note and looked around. The room was empty and silent and she frowned, Zuko’s note had been so brief and panicked it just asked her to come and help Katara with something and he’d owe her a huge favour in return but the water bender wasn’t here. Azula got ready to leave when she heard voices. “Sokka I have to go but you won’t be alone okay, Zuko’s coming to help”. “Zuko? well atleast i’m not alone”. “Exactly” the voice said before opening the door. Katara was stood there a bag on her back and noticed Azula. “Azula?”. “Obviously” Azula said dryly “Zuko asked me to come and help you with something”. “He can’t make it?” Katara asked and Azula nodded “obviously”. Katara’s eye twitched and Azula sighed “he had a last minute fire lord meeting so left this note for me” “Well i’m grateful he sent someone” Katara smiled “look I really have to go but Sokka’s in there and Mai will only be a few hours at most, okay?”. Katara rushed off and Azula frowned going into the room. Sokka was stood leaning over something and Azula coughed so he’d know she was there. “Hey Zuk.....AZULA?” Sokka gaped. Azula rolled her eyes at this family’s need for announcing the obvious “duh, now why are we here? Your sister didn’t tell me”. “Ah that explains it” Sokka nodded to himself “I didn’t think Mai would want you babysitting her brother”. “DOING WHAT?” Azula cried. Sokka pointed to the basket and Azula stepped forward to see a sleeping Tom-tom. “No way am I doing this! I don’t care if Zuko will owe me a favour I am not doing this!”. “You have to I can’t do this by myself! I only agreed because Katara said I’d have help, you can’t leave me alone!” Sokka whined. “Watch me” Azula shrugged when Sokka blocked the door “I didn’t want to do this but...you’re gonna need that favour with Zuko soon”. “What? why?” Azula asked and Sokka shrugged “I’d love to tell you but why would I when you’re going to leave me here?”. “Because I can do this” Azula said lighting her hand on fire and Sokka rolled his eyes “ow yeah so you’ve resisted the urge to torch all those boring council members and idiot nobels at parties Ty Lee drags you to just to attack me and get sent back to prison? I don’t think so”. Azula rolled her eyes “so if I stay and help you will tell me what Zuko is planning for me that I need to stop?”. Sokka nodded “i promise”. “Fine” Azula sighed and Sokka grinned at how well his plan to force Azula to help had worked before he paused “wow I never thought I’d be happy you’re spending time with me, weird huh?”. “Very” Azula agreed as Tom-tom started to cry.
Sokka and Azula looked over at the basket with fear and approached it slowly. They looked in to see Tom-tom red faced and very angry as he screamed his lungs out. “I think you woke it” Sokka commented and Azula glared “me? you were the one talking so much!”. “Well it doesn’t really matter who did it the fact is it’s awake and very loud”. Azula and Sokka frowned at Tom-tom and then glanced at one another. “Very loud” Azula complained “is it meant to be that red?”. "I don’t know” Sokka shrugged staring at the baby. “Well...pick it up" Sokka nudged Azula and she glared "me why me?!". "Because well, don’t girls like babies or something". Azula’s glare intensified and Sokka realised his mistake "okay not all girls! Not all girls!" he cried as Azula squared up to him. Azula smirked as Sokka raised his hands above his head and nodded to him "and don’t you forget it, now you pick it up". Sokka cautiously approached Tom-tom and picked him up gingerly. "No not like that" Azula commented "you'll drop it". Sokka turned Tom-tom around and Azula frowned "no not like that either!". Tom-tom squirmed and cried again and Sokka panicked and thrust him into Azula. "Take it i’m losing my grip". Azula instinctively grabbed the baby and Sokka laughed pulling his hands away "ha ha your problem now". "You filthy...." Azula started when Sokka shushed her "don’t yell! It’s stopped crying". Azula halted and looked down at the thing against her and saw what Sokka said was true. Tom-tom was giggling touching the gold buttons on her shirt. "Ow..well what do i do?". "Do?" Sokka asked. "Yes how do i make it stay like this?". "Erm im not sure do whatever you’re doing now?". "But I don’t know what i’m doing now" Azula cried panicking and Tom-tom started to cry again as Azula gripped him too hard. "Well you did something right before...don’t you know this kid?". "I know Mai but I don’t hang out with her baby brother for fun too! I don’t know what he likes, aren’t you an older sibling, shouldn't you know what babies like?". Sokka frowned "no, I kept well away from Katara until she could walk so I don’t know what to do!". "Well i don’t know what to do either" Azula said raising her voice to be heard over Tom-tom’s crying. Sokka took that as a challenge and raised his voice even higher "well what are we going to do then?". “I don’t know” Azula screetched and they both glared at one another.
3 hours later
Mai pushed open the door and sighed she couldn’t wait to just get back home and relax. "Thanks for looking after Tom-tom guys" she started and stopped abruptly to see Sokka and Azula. "What are you doing?" She yelled. Sokka and Azula froze but shrugged "what?". Tom-tom was strapped to Sokka with what looked like tape and Azula was waving fire infront of the baby. The room was a mess, toys, nappys, baby food and basically all belongings thrown everywhere. Mai was speechless "what? Why is my brother strapped to you and why are you trying to burn him?". "Don't be so dramatic Mai if I wanted to burn him I could do it easily" Azula said rolling her eyes "he likes it". True to her word Tom-tom was giggling trying to reach for the flames which Azula kept out of his way. "We were doing it to make him fall asleep but i think it just excites him". Mai stared "you used fire to make him sleep?". Azula shrugged "it seemed like a good plan". Sokka nodded "yeah babies like fire right?". Mai glared and strode to them, she pulled Azula back and unstrapped Tom-tom from Sokka "and why was he strapped to you?". "He kept moving" Sokka said straight faced and Azula nodded just as seriously. "So you strapped him down?" Mai asked angrily. Sokka shrugged “what were we supposed to do? He was too quick when we put him on the floor so Azula found some tape and started sticking and he seemed to like that too! Atleast this way we couldn’t lose him”. Mai rolled her eyes “idiots! Just put him in his cot or something”. “Tried that and he cried, why do children do that it’s just awful” Azula sighed and Sokka nodded sympathetically. “I think we did pretty good aswell” Azula said defensively “neither me or water boy wanted to baby sit but he’s alive and well isn’t he”. “Barely” Mai said dryly and Sokka raised an eyebrow “hey I think Tom-tom really liked us! Right Azula?”. Azula shrugged “he did seem to warm to us, I think it was when we stopped screaming and passing him to one another”. Sokka nodded “or when we stopped calling him an it”. Azula nodded thoughtfully and Mai groaned “both of you get out now you’re banned from babysitting ever! I’ll kill Katara and Zuko for this”. “Gosh fine! We know when were not wanted” Sokka pouted and Azula nodded “no respect for anyone these days” she muttered and Mai glared slamming the door on them both. “Well that was rude and after we did it as a favour” Sokka commented and Azula nodded “I know, some people are just difficult”. Sokka nodded and it only just dawned on him who he was talking to. “You know Azula you’re not so bad” Sokka thought outloud “sure you tried to kill me a few times and you sacraficed Tom-tom that time remember? Anyway the point is the three of us got along well so there’s hope for anyone!”. Azula nodded “yes I suppose you’re not too bad for a p..” she’s been about to say peasant but saw Sokka’s face and changed it quickly “person” she finished “you’re not as annoying as the others...suprisingly” she added and Sokka smirked. “Anyway I must be going” Azula said standing up straight “so goodbye”. “Bye Azula” Sokka waved smiling and Azula tensed. It was weird having someone smile at her and say her name so happily. Weird but not bad, it actually felt nice to have...well a friend. The thought of making a friend embarssed Azula so she hurried away but she smiled slightly to Sokka as she passed. After years of thinking she was unlovable and incapable of forming natural friendships Azula couldn’t believe how easy it had been to befriend Sokka. She’d made a friend all on her alone and barely trying too! Azula grinned to herself hurrying to her room. Ty lee was going to be so impressed when she told her!
---
So this could be interpreted as Tyzula or Sokkla because I ship both and do think Sokka and Azula would be a very good couple. I mean they’re both intelligent sarcastic tacticians with resentment towards their siblings and both had extreme pressures on them from a young age from their families (for Azula it was to be a prodogy firebender and Sokka to protect his whole tribe and become a warrior). Plus even in the series Azula recognised Sokka as a threat and in the comics they share a couple of really cute canon moments. The combination of their brain power and personalities would be the literal defenition of a power couple (just imagine them as a team for pictionary or something). Also just imagine everyone’s reaction to them announcing they’re dating, everyone expected it was Katara and Zuko who had something going on when Sokka and Azula have been together secretly for months (Zuko and Katara’s reaction alone I would pay to see!).
But even if it’s not as a couple I still think Azula and Sokka would be amazing friends too! They’re pretty similar in that they’re both stuborn which would make for very interesting interactions! Azula needs someone like Sokka that isn’t afraid to call her out on her bad behaviour but can also relate to her traumas and be there for her!  So anyway I just want more interaction between my two favourite characters thats all!! :)

I haven't worked on this in a long time. And I now know what Universe Alterations are😁
If Cal and Iris were arranged to marry! PART 4!!!!!
A month or so has past and Tibe and Orrec are no longer trying to kill each other, though that doesn't fully translate to trust.
Elara hasn't tried reading either of the Cygnet's minds because their guards are always ready to shoot her if she tries, and because they barley take off the silent stone rings.
There's talk of Cal's and Iris's wedding, and their future as the new king and queen of the allied Norta and Lakelands.
Speaking of the lovebirds:
Arguments. NOTHING BUT ARGUMENTS. ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. Iris instigates, much to Orrec's annoyance, and Cal reacts, which really annoys Tibe.
It doesn't help that the two have differing opinions on what to do with Scarlet Guard leaders; Iris wants to find and kill them, but Cal would rather arredt them and get information from them as bloodlessly as possible.
It gets serious in training, when Iris and Cal must fight each other. There is some back and forth, at first, until Iris roundhouse kicks Cal in the face, taunting that he wouldn't hit his intended. He proves her wrong with a punch in the cheek.
They toss ability to the wind and just beat the hell out of each other. There's hair pulling, biting, scratching, kicking, some below the belt, some aimimg for the eyes, and just hell in the ring before they whale on each other with their abilities. Their fights leaves the training room floor soggy, the room itself full of fog and smoke, and the smell of smoke, and the walls charred black.
It also ends with the two of them glaring at each other from across the room as healers tend to them.
"This is not over," Cal snarls.
"I will gladly rematch you right now, Tiberias."
"Neither of you are fighting again until you are properly healed," Arven snaps.
Cal backs down, but continues to glare at Iris, who glares back and manipulates water aroind her hand; 'Try me/ I dare you to try it.'
Orrec is very frustrated with Iris, who asks if they're going through with the plan of taking over. He reveals that no, they're not. Things are going well between the two sides and restarting this war all over again would be a terrible idea, so she needs to play nice.
Tibe does the same with Cal, telling him to at least try to get along with Iris. Cal, however, counters that it's impossible to get along with a girl like Iris. Tibe admits that she may be difficult, but their current circumstance is better than fighting a war.
After the day is over, Maven and Cal are playing some chess to shake off the day's "scuffle," to say the least; Orrec brought up how Cal and Iris basically tried to kill each other, and Tibe simply stated that young love appears in funny ways, not wanting to talk about how the fight was a draw between the two or debate whether or not Cal won that fight against Iris or vice versa.
"You're doing again."
"Doing what?"
(Maven scowls.) "I don't need a Whisper to know what you're thinking, Cal, you wear it on your face."
(Cal moves one of his pieces, more a little more annoyed.) "'I will gladly rematch you, Tiberias.' I completely won that fight. She's just mad she lost."
"Are you sure you won that fight?"
(Cue some serious murder eyes from Cal, and Maven backs down.)
"I mean... from where I was standing-"
"Don't. Go there."
(They're quiet for a few minutes, until Cal sighs.)
"I get we're supposed to be allies now, but why is it THIS hard to at least get along with my betrothed?"
"Well, if it makes you feel better, Evangeline and I aren't really friends either. They probably won't trust us for a long time. We have been at war with them for years on end."
The two talk a little longer befor they go to bed.
Cal isn't exactly in bed long though because he hears the sentinels arguing with someone outside.
Turns out Princess Iris went out for a nightly walk and the sentinels still don't fully trust her.
Cal steps in and the sentinels back off, giving the two time alone.
"I could have escorted myself to my room."
"Knowing sentinels of House Gliacon and Eagrie, they wouldn't have let you round the corner alone."
(Iris hides an eye roll and folds her arms.) "Well, what do you want?"
"Why are you up so late at night? It's two in the morning."
"Why are YOU awake?"
(Cal also folds his arms.) "Mavey and I usually stay up and play a game before bed. One for strategy. We meet up almost every night."
(Iris raises an eyebrow.) "Does your father know you're both so close to his least favorite son and intentionally sabotaging yourself?"
(Too much salt for Cal's liking, but he answers anyway as he chuckles.) "I'm willing to bet he doesn't. As much as he says he doesn't mind being alone, I'd rather spend time with my brother behund my father's back."
"I'm guessing the lack of alcohol helps."
(Again, too much salt, but he has a counter.) "Don't pretend you and your sister didn't spend time together."
(Iris is surprised Cal knows about Tiora.)
"Maven did some digging while my father and I were talking. A thankless favor between brothers."
(Iris sighs and hugs herself, the battle won by Cal.) "I used to walk the halls at night, when I couldn't sleep. I'd watch the moon reflect on the waves of the shore, stand on a balcony and listen to them. You're too far away from open waters, so I tried simply walking, but it clearly didn't work."
(Cal drops his shoulders as Iris looks out the diamond glass window.)
"It's foolish, and childish, but I miss home. My mother and sister. Having my father here has made this easier, all the same I just..."
Neither speak, but Cal understands, as he was training with a legion away from the palace and missed Maven, who was taken home after a certain incident that left him scarred for life and a Red burnt to an extra crisp.
The two talk a little more, about how they trained in combat and whatnot, before Cal escorts Iris back to her room and then goes to bed.
In her room, Iris kicks herself for being vulnerable, while Cal, in his room, laments that this nice little chat will be forgotten when the next day arrives.
Good news: It isn't.
Iris isn't as annoyed with Cal, and doesn't start any fights with him, and Cal is more courteous towards her.
They don't really talk because it's awkward and they're not there yet.
In training, to break the ice, Cal goes to talk to her, but Arven calls for them to run laps instead. Iris doesn't miss it and starts a race between the two of them, which Cal accepts. Soon enough they're both sprinting as fast as they can as they dodge and evade obstacles until Iris backpacks Cal, when he gets ahead of her. He calls her a cheater and she tells him that no fight is a fair fight.
Iris is pitted against Evangeline and Cal tells her to keep her hair up because Evangeline will pull it. She ignores him, which leads to her being yanked around by her hair before she damn near drowns Evangeline.
"Instead of tying up my hair, I should cut it."
"You're father would skin you."
"I'll blame you, then."
Cue a 'Wait, what?' Face by Cal and a smile Iris hides behind her hand. Yeah, she's pulling his leg, and Cal laughs with her.
TIME JUMP TO A BALL!
Everyone is having a good time and is getting along fairly well.
Iris and Cal dance and have a small conversation that if Tibe hadn't offered for Cal to marry Iris, then they'd most likely be killing each other.
At this point, they've bonded and are starting to fall for each other(I'll touch on that in the next part), so the words sort of rattle Cal to his core.
NOT ENOUGH FOR HIM TO NOTICE A SERVANT TIP SOMETHING INTO ORREC'S GLASS WHEN HE ISN'T LOOKING.
The dance ends and the kings toast to the alliance of their kingdoms, though Orrec notices that his is slightly less ornate and decorated with flames and filled with water.
A few moments later, Cal starts coughing and gasping, Maven and Iris at his side first as he tries to make himself vomit, which fails.
Tibe shouts for a healer as Orrec spots the servant and quickly subdues him with the water.
Cal foams at the mouth and passes out, dropping Orrec's glass
WOW! ANGSTY!
Yeah, I haven't worked on this in a while, and I'm basically playing a game of catch up with a lot of stuff I've made
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed!!!!!

roses: a.i.
Ashton and I have never been one for secrets, or at least I didn’t think we were, but things have been different. He has been ignoring me for almost three weeks now, only talking to me when I show up at his house, demanding to at least see him. To see that physically he’s okay. Mike and Luke will only talk to me if I don’t bring him up. As soon as I mention Ashton they suddenly ‘have to go’ and hurry to hang up. Cal will continue to talk to me but he totally ignores whatever questions I ask about him.
I was on Instagram and I saw Ashton on Luke’s story, the first time I’ve seen him in a week and a half. That’s how I ended up on Luke’s porch, working up the courage to ring the damn bell. He hasn’t left you with any options. He’s ignoring you, your other friends aren’t hanging out with you, he brought this on himself.
I press the doorbell, listening to the soft chime echoing in the house and I hear fast approaching footsteps. “Coming!” A voice calls out and within seconds the door is pulled open and I catch Sierra’s bright smile.
“Dee, I- hi.” She says, her smile faulting and my heart breaks. I was hoping she wasn’t here. I was praying that she didn’t listen to me cry about my fear of losing Ashton and then play board games with him the next day. But she was.
“This was stupid.” I mumble quickly, fighting off the tears that are threatening to spill and Sierra reaches out for my hand.
“No, no, it’s not stupid.” She consoles and I shake my head, yanking my hand out of reach.
“I’ll leave you guys to yourselves. Just, um, just tell him that I’m sorry— for whatever I did.” I tell her with a tight smile.
“Si! What are you doing, it’s your turn?!” Ashton shouts from deeper in the house.
“Give me a minute!” She says quickly, stepping out onto the porch with me and closing the door. “I’m so sorry, I wish I could’ve explained it all to you, but it wasn’t my place. I tried literally parent trapping you and Ashton but he always canceled and I— it’s no excuse, but I’m sorry.” She says, her brown eyes softening and I shake my head.
“It’s okay. It’s not your fault. I just—“ I take a deep breath, calming my anxiety while I make an arguably regrettable decision that’ll change my life in mere seconds. “I’m not gonna be in LA much longer and I thought it was insensitive to just drop that in the group chat or something.” I tell her and her eyes widen.
“What? You’re— you’re leaving?” She asks and I nod. “What about the boys? The band— I mean you’ve been a crew member forever.” She adds and I shake my head.
“It’s hard working with a band that won’t talk to you, Si.” I tell her softly and the front door opens. Si and I both turn to see all four boys stuffed in the doorway.
“Dee.” Luke says, clearing his throat and elbowing Calum, who’s beside him, in the stomach.
“Hey, Dee.” Cal says and I smile softly.
“Hey, I was— I was just leaving.” I tell them, turning around and someone catches my wrist. I turn to face Sierra and she drops my hand.
“You tell them.” She says and I shake my head.
“Tell us what?” Michael ask and she quirks an eyebrow.
“I’m taking my friends offer to go on tour with her.” I tell them, turning to face the boys and my eyes catch Ashton’s. “She’s based in New York City, so I’m moving out there.” I add and Luke is the first to speak.
“You’re leaving? When?” He asks and I shrug.
“Probably by the end of the month.” I tell him and Ashton shakes his head.
“You’re just gonna leave? Forget the past what— six years?” He asks and I shake my head.
“You have no right to be mad at me. You haven’t spoken to me in almost three weeks. I only know you’re okay because I see you in their stories. You want to walk away? Fine, but don’t be mad because I’m walking away too.” I tell him, brushing away the tears and he shakes his head.
“You think I don’t miss you?” He asks softly and I shake my head.
“Then why did you leave?! You said you’d never leave! You’d never do what they did to me! You said you’d never hurt me and I fucking believed you!” I let the tears stream down my face, not caring about anything anymore.
“Please, I’m sorry.” He says, his eyes softening at the sight of my tears and he steps closer.
“No,” I step back, “No, you lost that. You lost the right to be mad at me, or to console me, you all have. You could’ve been fucking honest and you all chose to lie to me and ignore me.”
“Dee, come on, we’ve all made mistakes—”
“You don’t accidentally lie to your friend for weeks. You accidentally spill milk, or touch a hot pan, you don’t— you chose to lie to me, you chose to push me away. That’s not a mistake.” I cut Cal off and I shake my head.
“I’m gonna go. I’m sorry for ruining your game night.” I tell them, turning around and walking down the porch stairs, I walk over to my car, everything silent except for the heel of my boots hitting the cement. I reach my car, unlocking it and slipping it. My gaze travels to the porch, looking at the people I had grown to love like family and my eyes stop on Ashton. Luke’s arm is around his shoulder, clearly saying something to him and Ashton’s eyes meet mine. My heart breaks at his expression, the truth setting in that I had hurt him the same way he hurt me.
The thought makes my stomach turn but I don’t have the strength to step out of my car. Instead I open spotify and start playing anything to fill the void. I pull out of the driveway, turning up the volume and trying to silence the deafening thoughts running through my mind.
~
I’ve been packing for two weeks, and fielding calls from the boys and their management. Well all the boys except one. The one I really want to hear from. The one that would say “stay,” and I would drop everything for.
Maybe it’s good that I’m leaving. I mean, falling in love with your best friend is a bad idea already and although I wasn’t sure of it before I am now. I loved Ashton, in the most inconvenient way possible, so maybe this space will be good for me.
Or at least that’s what I try to convince myself when I feel empty. When the anxiety and depression wins and I wake up in the middle of the night on the floor— typically the bathroom floor— with an empty stomach and pounding headache.
Then I remember Ashton always being there. Picking me up, taking care of me, loving me in the way I never thought I deserved and the thoughts send me spiraling and walking up on the floor again.
I finish applying my lipstick, biting back the tears that I know will inevitably be shed by the end of the night, and step away from the mirror. I grab my clutch, checking for my phone, keys and wallet before strapping on my shoes and heading downstairs.
Everyone had insisted that we had one last night out, a final goodbye and send off before I leave tomorrow morning and I had agreed. I walk out to my car and quickly start the ride to the restaurant. I focus on the music, never giving myself enough time to get lost in my thoughts and I get to the restaurant faster than expected.
I step out of my car and spot Calum almost immediately. He’s turned around, preoccupied with something and I run up behind him, placing my hands over his eyes and he laughs softly.
“You’re a child.” He mumbles, spinning around to face me and I drop my arms.
“You love me.” I tell him with a smile and he opens his arms for a hug. I step into his embrace, squeezing him tightly and he does the same.
“You look beautiful.” He says, stepping back and I smile softly.
“Thank you.” I tuck my hair behind my ear, the curls already getting in my way and he smiles sadly. “You wanted to talk before dinner?” I prompt and he nods.
“Yeah, I have a gift for you and a few things to say.” He says with a smile. “First, I wanted to apologize. I never should’ve lied to you and I shouldn’t have let Ashton. I was so blinded by the thought of protecting my brother that I didn’t think to protect my best friend.” He says and I shake my head.
“It’s okay, I get it, and I don’t blame any of you guys. I seriously don’t.”
“With that being said, I also wanted to congratulate you. I wish you didn’t have to leave but I’m proud of you for standing up for yourself and doing what felt right to you, no matter what. You deserve the world, Dee, but you have to take it.” He says with a soft smile and I wipe at the single tear that’s escaped.
“This is from us— all of us— to you. No matter what happens, what you do, we’ll always be cheering you on and we will always love you.” He says, pulling a velvet box out of his pocket and handing it to me. I carefully take it, giving him my clutch to hold and opening the box to see a delicate, silver necklace, a beautiful rose hanging off it and I smile warmly. It’s almost an exact replica of Ashton’s tattoo and I don’t know if they did it on purpose, but I want to believe they did.
I can see Ashton pointing out the necklace with a smile, fully knowing how similar it is to his tattoo and the rest of the group agreeing, simply because of my love of roses. I brush away the invisible tears at the thought, choosing that no matter what the story actually is, that’s what it’ll mean to me.
“Cal,” I whisper softly, looking up to meet his eyes and he smiles despite the tears filling his eyes.
“You like it?” He asks and I nod.
“I love it.”
“Here, let me put it on you.” He suggests and I nod. We trade off once again and I spin around, pulling my hair up with one hand and he slips it around my neck. “Done.” He whispers when he clasps it and I let my hair fall. I spin back around with a bright smile and he nods.
“Thank you.” I tell him, toying with the small rose and he nods.
“It was a group thing but everyone agreed that they’d cry like babies so it was decided that I’d give it to you.” He says with a smile and I giggle. “Ready to head in?” He asks, opening his hand for me to take and I nod slowly.
“I just— is he in there?” I ask him, unsure of what answer I’m hoping for and he slowly shakes his head.
“Luke, Mike and I all tried to get him to come but he wouldn’t.” He says and I nod slowly. I place my hand in his, giving him a tight squeeze before nodding again, this time with more confidence.
“Let’s go.” I tell him and he nods. We both walk into the restaurant, being led straight to our table after Calum gave the hostess his name.
“Dee! You look so good!” Sierra says as soon as she sees me and I embrace her in a tight hug.
“Thank you.” I whisper, holding her tight and she does the same. After we separate, I go around the table, hugging everyone and finally I sit down. There’s an empty seat at the end of the table— the seat that had been saved for Ashton— and the sight breaks my heart. Every time Michael or Crystal address me I have to fight my hardest to not look at the seat and break out into tears.
Despite the nagging reminder that Ashton isn’t there, dinner is amazing and after bidding my goodbyes, I step outside and feel a few drops of rain. I step back, underneath the overhang provided by the restaurant and Calum appears next to me. With almost impeccable timing a crack of thunder is heard and it starts pouring.
“How many times is this gonna happen to us?” Calum asks, shrugging off his jacket and lifting it over our heads.
“I’m starting to think this is just gonna be Our Thing™.” I joke and he laughs loudly.
“Ready?” He asks and I shake my head.
“Let me take off my heels.” I tell him and he nods. He offers his arm as stability and I start working my heels off.
“Good idea.” He mumbles. I eventually get both heels off and with my clutch and heels in hand and Calum’s jacket over us we run off into the rain. “Are you gonna get home safe?” Calum asks as we reach my car.
“I’ll be okay.” I tell him and he nods.
“Text me.” He mumbles quickly as I open my door. He presses a quick kiss to my cheek before running off and I get into my car. I start the ride to my house, driving slower this time because of the rain and finally, in the peace of my own car, I let go and feel the tears falling.
I couldn’t tell you if I’m crying because I’m leaving or Ashton not showing up. Or maybe it’s because the talk Calum and I had before dinner. Or the fact that I always run when things get difficult. I don’t know what it is, but once the tears start they don’t stop and when I stop in front of my house I don’t bother pulling into the driveway. Instead I keep driving, finding myself heading towards the hills and I calm down at the prospect of fixing everything.
I just have to be honest. Honest about everything and maybe, even if things aren’t the same, they’ll be better. I just have to tell him the truth. I just have to tell him that I love him.
I run out of my car as soon as it’s in park, sprinting up the unnecessary long path to his front door and I ring the doorbell, feeling a surge of confidence, anxiety and impatience all at once. I fold my arms over my chest, trying my best to warm up but it’s nearly impossible when my dress and hair are absolutely soaked. I try the doorbell again, the confidence waning and anxiety and impatience doubling.
“C’mon, Irwin. Please.” I mumble under my breath, reaching into my clutch to grab my phone and I quickly dial his number. Unshockingly it goes right to voicemail and I groan loudly. “Irwin, stop being a dick, it’s pouring and I’m freezing.” I mumble, stuffing my phone back in my clutch and ringing the doorbell again. And again, and again, until he finally pulls the door open.
“I told you I’m not fuckin—” The words die on his tongue when his eyes land on mine.
“Dee? What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be at dinner?” He asks, snapping out of his thoughts and I take in the details of his face. The bags under his eyes are more prominent then they’ve probably ever been and my heart breaks at the thought. His eyes look a bit darker, like they always did when he was upset and I shake my head, pulling myself out of those thoughts.
“I, um, I needed to talk to you.” I tell him and he quirks an eyebrow.
“You didn’t get it all out before?” He bites and I shake my head.
“I’m here to apologize, okay? I’m sorry for whatever I did, I’m sorry for whatever made you hate me and if I could I would go back and fix it all but I can’t. All I can do is apologize and pray to whoever will listen that you won’t hate me for the rest of your life.
“I’m sorry if I pushed you too hard or asked for too much from you. I’m sorry that I was selfish because I was. I took and took and took from you because it was easy, because you made me feel loved and I never felt that before. I’m sorry if I loved too hard or I made things difficult. I’m sorry for every possible thing I did that would have pushed you away.
“But I’m not sorry for loving you. I’m not sorry for giving you everything I could. I wish things could’ve ended differently but I’m not sorry for falling in love with you. I won’t ever apologize for that, Ashton, because I did, I loved you in the most unconventional way possible and I loved every second of it too.” I tell him, not caring about the tears that escaped and I feel a weight lifted off my shoulders.
“That’s all I had to say: I’m sorry, and I love you.” I tell him finally happy after weeks of feeling miserable. Happy because I spoke my truth and no matter what happens next, I know I tried and that’ll have to be enough. I spin on the heels of my feet, walking away from his door and almost halfway to my car I feel a tug on my hand. Ashton spins me around, his hands coming up to my cheeks and his lips are on mine.
Once the shock wears off, my hands cup his cheeks, pulling him impossibly closer as I kiss him back. His tongue runs over my sealed lips and I don’t hesitate to let him in. My hands slip into his hair, tangling into the rain-soaked knots and he slowly pulls away. “Come inside,” He breathes into the air between us and I nod.
“Okay.” I whisper and he smiles softly.
“I love you too, darling. I always have.” He whispers and I press my lips to his once more.

Holy Crap. This may turn into a 30 Chapter long fic, you Guys!!! Anyway, tying up another loose end. This chapter is....pretty big. I couldn’t break it up into two chapters, for some reason.
WARNING: It implies something very inappropriate happened between two of the characters *underage stuff. I’m sorry if it upsets people. I’m not sure why I came up with this being the reason for so and so’s decision to do this or that, but it kept popping in my brain. Let’s just say it had to be maddening and unthinkable...for “X” to happen. There are light bits in the newest chapter, as well. But warning you all...
ANYWAY.... Here’s to Chapter 25!!!!! ~Simon Snow (Salisbury). My use and notes about Simon’s name may not make complete sense, but it seemed poetic and cool, at the time I wrote it all out. Hope you like the chapter!!!!
INCLUDED: A wrap up to Cal and Trent’s story....Sort of.... ;)
*Thank you AO3 and users and all!!!! Thank you Fan Fic!!!!
Summary:
Baz is an overworked employee for an understaffed grocery store, who puts up with his job in order to support himself while attending school. The black sheep of the family, Baz's father cuts him off from the family inheritance. He's left to make due on his own, but does so determined to finish school and do well by himself. His mother having died when he was young, Baz holds onto the memory of her love, when life grows hard.
Simon has been spoiled his whole life, and can't seem to appreciate his parents' efforts to get him ahead in life, including a free get-into-top-notch-school card. Despite countless perks, comforts, and financial support, Simon is finally starting to realize...He's truly unhappy. While never admitting to arranging his marriage, Simon knows that his relationship with Agatha seems to please their parents more than it does him. An unplanned trip to the grocery store after a failed night with Agatha completely turns Simon's world upside down.

Love Measured in Miles
Tumblr media
Summary: you and Calum started dating in high school and carried the relationship into college. Calum is in a frat and you’re in a different state.
Word count: 3k
Beta: @mysticalhood (she also wrote quite a bit. I love u sm)
A.N: hi sorry it’s actually been ages since I’ve written something but this has been a work in progress for ever and ty really wanted me to finish it and I even let her help me a bunch. Anyways feedback is always appreciated!!! Hope you guys like it :^)
——————
“We can make this work.” Calum sat on the right side of your bed looking at you. “Distance has nothing on my love for you.” He had told you he got accepted to his dream school which happened to be three states away from your dream school. The thought scared you. You know the odds, kids who try to date after high school usually break up within the first month of being apart. You watched it happen to your brother and the girl he dated all throughout high school. She broke up with him three days after she moved into the dorms. He was heartbroken. You didn’t want that.
“You say that now Calum.” Your breath hitched a little “what happens when you see all the beautiful girls at your new school?” You pulled your knees up to your chest as you sat beside him.
“I love you Y/N. Do you not trust me?” He placed his hand on your back rubbing circles trying to calm your nerves.
“I trust you Cal. I’m just nervous.” Calum pulled your body into him and wrapped his arms around you.
“I’m nervous too. But I know I want you for the rest of my life.” He placed a soft kiss on your forehead
1.5 year later
“Cal. Cal. Cal.” The chants echoed through the large house as Calum was stood on a table chugging a forty taped to his hand. Once the last drop had dribbled down his throat he let out a celebratory cheer throwing both hands up in the air.
“You’re an absolute man Cal.” Brad helped him off the table. He wobbled a little due to all the alcohol he just consumed.
“Hell yeah!” He high fived a passing by fraternity brother as he spoke his phone vibrated in his pocket. “Oh hold up Y/N is calling”
“Oh yeah ‘Y/N’ when are we gonna meet this ‘girlfriend’ of yours” Cal shoved his hand in the boys face as a response.
“Hi baby! Wassup?” His words were starting to slur together. You could hear the party going on on the other side of the phone.
“Oh shoot are you at a party? I’ll call later.” You rushed out the sentence.
This has been the norm for you two lately. You’d call him and he’d be at a party or hanging out with his frat bros. When he’d call you you’d be studying or sleeping which is basically all you did. You haven’t had a decent conversation in weeks. You knew it was rush week and he’d be busy just didn’t expect him to be this busy. He loved the frat life. That made you nervous. You know how frat guys are. Actually it made you really nervous. Your mind typically wonders late at night. You’d lay in your small bed looking at the wall that was plastered with pictures of you and Calum. Mostly goofy pictures of him. Some old school dance pictures that his mom took. You’d stare at them and wonder what your boyfriend was up to.
Calum spent most of his time at the frat house. He got invited to live in the house this term which he gladly accepted. You could say he was living his best life. He was getting consistently good grades effortlessly while having the best college experience.
The only problem was that you weren’t there with him. He constantly thought about you no matter where he was or what he was doing.
Lately, it’d been harder to keep in touch with each other. You were in two different worlds, trying to be there for one another.
“No, no I can talk now!” He pushed away from the crowd, trying to make his way to the back patio. Once he got outside he faintly heard his name being called from the beer pong table across the lawn. He tried to drown it out and focus on what was happening on the other line.
“What’s going on?” He continued the conversation with his back turned to the rest of the people in the backyard.
“I’m just kinda stressed… about exams and everything.” You voice was quiet and uneasy. He could hear the emotion bubbling in your throat. Even miles apart, not being able to actually see your face he knew what was happening on the other side of this call.
“Dude! Calum! You have to play Brianna and Hannah from Kappa are playing and we gotta show them who’s boss around here.” Trevor was standing behind him waiting for a response
“Can you give me 5 minutes please and then I’ll play.” He dismissed Trevor’s comment indicating he needed some space. He walked further into the backyard towards the edge of the fence.
“Cal, if you wanna go and play. I don't wanna hold you back.”
“Y/N. I’m here for you. Tell me about your day. I miss you so much.”
“I miss you too. I think I failed my bio exam today. I’ve been trying to get a ticket out to see you but nothing seems to be falling into place for me. Ugh i just miss you so much cal.”
He closed his eyes with a sigh and dropped his head, “It’s alright. Y/N, you’re one of the smartest people I know. You’ve been studying for that exam for a month. There’s no way that you could have failed it. Just calm down and take a deep breath because you are going to ace all of your exams.”
“I really needed to hear that. Thanks baby.” You pushed the phone closer to your ear as if that would bring him closer to you. You could hear the party still roaring in the background. “I’m gonna let you go now. I love you and have fun.” You laid across your bed, opening one of your textbooks, and preparing for another night of studying.
“I love you too. I’ll talk to you as soon as I can.” He hung up the phone and turned around to find Trevor. He noticed Trevor, Brianna, and Hannah chatting to one another as they waited on him so they could start the game. When Calum walked up to the table Trevor handed him a beer.
“How was the ‘girlfriend’?” He joked as he stood next to Cal. Calum retorted with a small shove as he rolled his eyes.
“Shut up Trev and just throw the ball.” He pointed to the cups on the other side of the table.
Trevor held his hands up defensively with a small smirk on his face, “Okay, I’ll back off. I’m just saying that we’ve never actually seen this girlfriend you talk about all the time. Right, Hannah?”
“Let’s just play the damn game alright?” He huffed and grabbed one of the balls from Trevor’s hand and launched it, landing it in the cup.
After Calum and Trevor demolished them in beer pong, Hannah walked over to Calum, batting her eyes with a small smile as she placed her hand on his bicep. “Maybe I could give you a prize for winning up in your room,” she flirted, shooting him a fast wink.
Calum took a step away from her reach as he responded, “No, Hannah. What the fuck is wrong with you? You know I have a girlfriend.”
She rolled her eyes, “Your girlfriend doesn’t have to know. It could be our little secret.” She tried to step closer to him, but he backed away again.
“I couldn’t do that to her. I love her too much.”
Hannah scoffed, “We don’t even know if she actually exists. Why don’t you loosen up? You’re easily the finest boy in this fraternity-- everyone knows it-- so why don’t you get any action?”
Calum clenched his jaw, “I don’t have to discuss this with you. I suggest you go find your sorority sisters and have a nice night.” He gave her a tight lipped smile, walking back inside with his hands in his pockets. Calum made his way through the crowded party and up the stairs to his room. Once his head hit the pillow he was out.
Calum woke up in the same clothes the next morning. He reached for his phone to call you. You answered on the third ring just like always.
“Hello? It’s early you should be asleep.” Your voice was soft as you tried not to wake your roommate.
He hummed in response, “I wanted to talk to you before your exam. You’re going to blow it out of the park, sweetheart.” You let out a small chuckle. Calum always believed in you, no matter what.
“Thanks baby. How was the rest of the party?” Calum let out a loud sigh into the speaker causing you to pull the phone away from your ear a little. “Geez what happened?”
“This dumb sorority girl said something like im not getting the action I deserve…” Your jaw fell open. You slipped out of your bed and put some slippers and headed into the hallway so you could talk above a whisper.
“Oh, is that so?” You tried to control your tone. “Then why don’t you go out there and get the ‘action you deserve’” You threw your arm up in the air in frustration.
“Y/N I totally shut her down and told her how much I love you.” Calums voice raised a little. He on the other hand didn't care who heard him. “I don’t want anyone else, you’re the one. I’ve been telling you this since junior year of high school.” He let out another deep sigh. “How many times do i have to tell you that before you finally understand that i’m not going anywhere.” You were silent on the other side. You slid down the wall in front of your dorm and sat with your knees tucked to you chest.
“I gotta go. I’ve got my big math exam.” Your voice was a little shaky as you said the next part. “Love you.” You heard the sound of the call disconnecting before he said those words back to you.
Calum made his way down the stairs to the kitchen where he found Chad, Trevor, and Brandon sitting at the kitchen island.
“Girlfriend troubles?” Brandon hit Calum on the shoulder as he walked by. “Been there man, it’ll be okay.” Brandon was the only one who was supportive about Y/N.
“Dude you guys fight a lot and never talk, why are you still with her?” Chad shoved a fork full of eggs into his mouth mid sentence making it a little difficult to understand what he said. Calum knew exactly what was said and he didn't like it.
“Chad, I’m fucking over you being this way. I have a girlfriend that I absolutely adore, yeah we fight sometimes and we rarely get to see each other but she's my girlfriend bro.” Calum didn’t know where this anger was coming from. But it was finally time to let out what he was feeling out into the world.
“Calm down, Cal. I’m just stating my fucking opinion. Don’t be mad at me that you get laid once every year,” he held his hands up in defense, smirking a bit at his slight jab at Calum.
Calum slammed his fist on the counter, turning to face Chad. “I didn’t ask for your opinion. I never asked for your opinion on anything pertaining to my relationship with Y/N. If I don’t get any action, then so be it. At least I have the balls to stay loyal to the girl I love,” he spat, gaining a few mutters from the others in the vicinity.
****
It had been two weeks since the argument with Chad broke out. Calum has spoken to you a few times about the fight and how everyone in the house had been acting.
You decided it was time you go visit. Since you just finished your last exam for the term you booked a plane ticket to see Calum at school. Finding the time to coordinate with Brandon was a little difficult. Brandon was the only one who believed Calum had a girlfriend and when you reached out to him to organize this surprise he was beyond excited.
“Okay I land at 2:30pm make sure you’re there and make sure cal doesn’t know” you fly out later today and you were extremely nervous
“Ah man I’m so excited to see the look on Chads face when you roll up” Brandon was laughing on the other end of the call.
“Me either. That guys a prick! Okay I gotta finish packing.” You held the phone up to your ear with your shoulder as you tried to zip you bag up “see you soon” he muttered a response and you hung up. Sliding your laptop in your backpack. You scanned your room one last time making sure you weren’t forgetting anything.
Calum woke up late and scrambled to grab his stuff and run to his last exam. He shot you a quick text before turning his phone off and putting it in his pocket.
“You didn’t call me this morning! I almost missed my exam. Anyways love u have a good day love”
Your plane landed on schedule. The thought of your flight being delayed and having to wait another day to see Calum made your stomach turn fortunately everything was going smoothly.
After you grabbed your bags you looked at the crowd trying to recognize Brandon from his pictures on Instagram and the ones that Calum has sent you.
“Y/N!” you heard a voice from behind you, turned around, and saw a tall boy making his way to you with a smile on his face.
“Ugh” he embraced you in a tight hug which you reciprocated. “It’s so nice to finally meet you!” He let go and nodded
“You too! Calum talks about you all the time.” He laughed as a rosy color rose to your cheeks. “Well what are we waiting for let’s go get your man!” He grabbed your duffel bag from you and headed towards the parking garage.
You arrived at the house before Calum. Brandon quickly introduced you to everyone that was downstairs when you arrived and then hurriedly rushed you upstairs. You threw your bag under Calum’s very messy room so he wouldn’t notice it when he first walks in. You heard the front door open and checked your watch.
“He’s right on time. That’s surprising” you laughed as Brandon stood pointing at the closet.
“Get in.” He moved his arm and pointed again indicating you needed to get in right away. Once you closed the door you could hear Brandon’s footsteps descend the stairs.
When Calum walked in the front door everyone was staring at him.
“What are you guys looking at?” He questioned when he threw his backpack on the couch. No one responded just stared a little bit harder.
“Brandon what is going on?” He questioned the boy who just ran down the stairs.
“Oh nothing really.” He shrugged his shoulders. “But there is a gift up in your room.”
“Guys if you’re trying to ice me right now. I’m not in the mood” Calum slowly made his way up to his room. “Seriously guys. I’m not gonna drink it.” He yelled from the top of the stairs. He threw the comforter off the bed as soon as he walked into his room expecting to see the bottle of alcohol precariously perched on his pillow but found nothing. Brandon stood in the doorway watching Calum look around.
“Hi baby.” You opened the door to the closet and slid out. Calum swing around at the familiar sound of your voice. He immediately grabs you and pulls you into a hug. You wrap your legs around his waist.
“Okay big guy put me down now” your laugh intensified in the small room almost bouncing off the walls and ringing into Calum’s ears. He loved that sound.
“What the heck are you doing here?” He shook your shoulders a little as he spoke. Which got another laugh out of you.
“Me and Brandon planned this surprise for you! I’ve missed your sweet face!” You cupped his smiling face as he looked down on you lovingly.
“FaceTime doesn’t even compare.” He leaned down and placed a sweet kiss on your lips. Neither of you wanted to pull apart.
“Sorry to break up the reunion but uh… Chad just got home and i'd really like to see his face when you both walk downstairs.” Brandon looked giddy as he spoke. Calum grabbed your hand and you both headed downstairs Brandon following behind.
You could hear all the boys muttering downstairs.
“Chad. There’s someone I want you to meet.” Calum pulled you in front of him you reached your hand out for chad to shake. “This is my girlfriend y/n”
“It’s so nice to meet you.” You tried to hold back all the jokes and malice comments you could say to this dickhead. He grabbed your hand and his jaw fell.
“I didn’t think you were real.” He stood there in shock. “I’m sorry man” he looked back at Calum.
“It’s whatever. You’re still an asshole though” Calum and the rest of the boys started laughing while Chad just stood there trying to understand the whole situation.
Calum looked down at you “are you hungry?” You smiled and replied. “Always.” He grabbed your hand and led you out the front door.

I’d Do Anything-2
Chapter 2 of my CEO!Ash fic!
Huge thanks again to Allie @astroashtonio for being the sweetest, best cheerleader, love you!
Warning: Smut, Alcohol (in passing)

Prev       Next
Ashton and Lily were together for the weekend, getting ready for the conference. She was in her room at the Air BnB he had rented out. The conference had a hotel that almost everyone else was staying at, however, Ashton had months ago decided that the two of them needed to stay at their own place, he apparently felt as though they were disturbing other guests with their late night discussions and practicing for presentations he had to make during the conference. Ashton was in his room, both of them unpacking and getting ready to meet up with some friends for the party that was happening that night.
It was decades themed and Lily had originally planned on a 90’s themed outfit, using some ripped jeans and a flannel that were already in her wardrobe, but Ashton walked in with a poodle skirt to match with him and his friend Calum as they were going as greasers. So now she was standing in front of the sink, doing her hair and makeup, wearing a pastel blue skirt and yellow blouse. She swiped some pink lipgloss on, capping it before tucking the blouse into the skirt, doing a quick twirl before walking out to put on socks and shoes.
She was just finishing tying the white low top converses that Ashton had also provided, sitting at the edge of the bed her suitcase was still resting on top of, when Ashton leaned against the open door, lightly tapping his knuckles against it. Lily tightened the bow and looked up at him and nearly gasped. He was wearing a white v-neck with tight black jeans and boots, holding his leather jacket over his shoulder. “Glad to see you’re just about ready.” Ashton said, a smile on his face as he looked her over.
She nodded, standing from the bed and he held out an arm. Lily giggled as she linked her elbow with his, grabbing her purse from the nightstand and followed him out of the house, quickly checking to make sure that the door was locked behind them. He opened the door of his car for her, waiting until she was seated to close it. He got in and drove over to the hotel everyone else was staying at, which had a bar where the party was being held.
After they both got out of the car, Ashton pulled on his jacket, before linking his arm with hers again and walking into the lobby, where Calum was waiting. His eyes lit up and he quickly stood from the chair he had been resting in. He gave Ashton a tight hug before turning to Lily. “Lily, how do you always look more and more beautiful each time I’m lucky enough to see you?” he teased, taking her hand and spinning her around quickly, causing her skirt to twirl around her knees.
She giggled as Calum pulled her into his chest, wrapping her arms around him to return the hug. Calum let go after a few seconds, still letting one arm rest over her shoulders. “Shall we take our girl in and get started partying?” he asked Ashton, smiling over at him.
Lily looked over and Ashton seemed to force a smile back, “I drove us here, so I’m not sure how much partying I’m going to be doing, but yeah, let’s go.”
She frowned over at him as Calum led the way into the bar, his hand firmly on her shoulder as he led the way through the crowded room. She could feel Ashton following close to his side, the sound of his footsteps obscured by the music. They made it to the bar and Calum held a stool out for her, waiting until she was settled to get the attention of the bartender. He quickly ordered drinks for the two of them and she teased, “Sure you two don’t want a milkshake to split instead?” gesturing to their outfits.
Calum laughed softly and Ashton leaned up against the bar on Lily’s opposite side, “I’ll take that milkshake if they won’t.” He said with a smile. Lily felt better, seeing him smile more naturally now. She giggled and looked him up and down before walking off to mix the drinks. She came back a moment later, handing Calum and Lily their drinks before walking over to Ashton, “We were out of milkshakes, but I got you a root beer instead.”
Ashton grinned at her, happily taking the glass, “This will work just fine, thank you.”
She smiled at him as she walked down the bar to serve someone else and Lily hummed, taking a sip of her drink. She had a couple more drinks after that, catching up with Calum and a few other friends who showed up at the bar.
After her third drink she slid down from the stool, “I’m going to go over to dance, I haven’t had a night out in a long time.” Ashton nodded, smiling and sliding off of his stool, “Sounds like fun, I might join you.”
She nodded, reaching for his hand and pulling him through the crowd. They made it to the dance floor and Ashton moved one hand to her shoulder, dropping her hand and placing his other hand on her waist. She smiled up at him and wrapped her arms around his neck as they began dancing.
They danced for a while, before Ashton pulled Lily back to the bar, a few of the curls that he had slicked back falling forward, dangling above his forehead. He climbed onto the empty stool next to Calum, catching his breath. Calum looked at Lily and then to the other occupied stool on his other side as well as the one next to Ashton and frowned. She just shrugged at him when she felt his hands lifting her up, setting her in his lap before wrapping an arm around her waist. “Think your feet need a little break too, doll,” he whispered in her ear, and she could feel Ashton’s eyes burning into her.
She was confused as to why Ashton’s demeanor kept flipping whenever she and Calum were around each other. He’d never been like that before, besides, this was how they always acted when they were together, it had never gone beyond playful flirting. She frowned over at him as he went back to chatting with the bartender before leaning back into Calum. His arm tightened around her as he continued his conversation and she quietly sipped her drink.
After a while Calum got her attention, “Care to dance with me, doll?” He asked, fingers lightly brushing against her side as he pulled his arm from around her waist.
Lily nodded, sliding out of his lap, waiting for him to get up. He took her hand in his as they walked through the crowd, settling on the edge of the dance floor. After one song, Ashton walked up. “I’m gonna go ahead and go home, you guys enjoy the rest of the party. Cal, take care of Lily for me, get her home safe.” he said over the music.
Calum nodded, and he walked away after giving Calum a quick hug. She watched him walk across the bar, feeling her face heat up and body tense when he wrapped his arm around the bartender who had been serving them all night. He pressed a quick kiss to her cheek as they rounded the corner, disappearing from sight. The sound of Calum’s low laugh brought her attention back to him.
“Green is not your color babygirl, not Ashton’s either.” He said lowly, lips brushing against the shell of her ear as he leaned in closer.
Lily felt her face heat up even more and Calum giggled, brushing his thumb over her cheek and making her look up at him.
“How about we dance for a little longer, then head up to mine, give him something to really be jealous about? He did tell me to take care of you, didn’t he, Lily?” he said, hands sliding down her back, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he stared down at her, adding, “If you don’t want to, we can just sit on the bed and talk instead.”
She looked him over slowly, reveling in the feeling of his hands roaming her body as they continued dancing, “Why not both?”
~~~~~~~~
Half an hour later Calum’s hotel room door clicked shut behind him and he quickly turned the lock. Lily tossed her purse onto the desk and looked over at Calum as he walked to her. The sleeves of his leather jacket clung to his arms as he slowly shrugged it off, ready to toss it over with Lily’s purse. He walked closer to her once he’d gotten rid of the jacket, setting his large hands on her hips.
“Missed being in our office seeing you the past few months. Love bein’ home and workin’ but I missed you s’much more than usual, Lil.” Calum said lowly, his accent thick from the months he’d been in Australia.
Ashton had sent him to work at the Australia branch of the company, the home branch as he liked to call it, they had come up with a new project and Ashton trusted him to get it running down there. It had sucked that they didn’t get to see their friend until this weekend, but he had gotten a lot done while he was away, and now he was back with them for a few weeks. But as Calum pulled Lily into his chest, she couldn’t help but whisper back, “Missed you a whole lot too, Cal.”
He hummed quietly in response, pressing his lips to the top of her head. Lily slowly ran her hands up his back, gently grabbing the back of his shirt, tugging it up to begin to untuck it from his pants. He laughed softly, dropping his arms from around her body and helping her to free his shirt. Once it was fully untucked he pulled Lily back into him, gently taking her chin in his hand. They both stared at each other for a moment, Lily’s green eyes searching his brown, before she stood on her tip toes, closing the distance between their lips. Calum sighed as he tilted her head up more, deepening the kiss and slowly backing her into the wall.
She gasped as her back hit the wall, Calum quickly slipping his tongue into her mouth as she did so. She sighed softly, running her hands up his back as his tongue explored her mouth. He groaned lowly as her hands tugged at his curls. He pulled away, leaning his forehead against hers as he began pulling at her shirt, untucking it from her skirt as she toed off her shoes.
Once her shirt was freed he slid his hands under the shirt, running them up her back. She groaned softly, pressing her back into his hands. He hummed, “You’re tense baby girl, is Ash working you too hard?”
She sighed softly and he gently walked her over to the bed, pulling the blouse over her head. She stared up at him as he rested his hands on her waist. “Damn, you’re so beautiful, Lil. Is it ok for me to give you a back rub? You deserve one.” he whispered, pressing gentle kisses to her neck.
She nodded slowly and he waited for her to crawl into bed and get comfortable, taking his boots off while she rolled onto her stomach. Once he was sure that she was ready he crawled over, crouching with his knees on either side of her legs. He slowly started rubbing her shoulders, fingers digging into the muscles as he slowly moved down her back. She groaned as he worked out the knots and relaxed into him. He smiled and kissed along her shoulders before sitting back on his heels, tugging his shirt off. Lily rolled over, looking up at him as he threw the shirt across the room. He smiled down at her shyly as her eyes roved his body, taking in the tattoos that only ever poked out of his shirt during work.
“Wow,” she managed after a minute, earning a low laugh from Calum as he pulled her to sit up, sliding his arms around her shoulders to unclasp her bra. Lily shrugged it off, pushing it away before slowly meeting Calum’s eyes. A low noise ripped through his throat against his will, and he roughly pulled her forward, crashing his lips into hers again.
They spent the next few minutes a mess of lips and teeth and tongues and limbs, until Lily tried to shift on the bed slightly, only to find it difficult as Calum’s legs were pinning down the long skirt she was still wearing. She whined softly, tapping softly at his chest to get him to move away a little. He quickly pulled back, eyebrows furrowed in concern as he stared at her, eyes following her hands as they left his body, sighing in relief when he saw her move them to the button and zipper at her hip, watching as she undid both and he quickly helped her get rid of the skirt once they were undone. Calum bit his lip as he stared down at her, feeling his pants grow even tighter as he shifted uncomfortably.
Lily looked up at him, letting out a soft whine as she reached for him, wanting to feel his lips on hers again. He relented, leaning in and pressing his lips to hers hungrily, digging his fingers into her side as he did so. She dug her fingernails into his shoulders in response, earning a low moan from him. She tugged on his lip with her teeth, gasping suddenly when Calum ground his hips into hers, a breathy whine leaving his mouth. “Fuck, Lil…pants” he groaned, hand gripping her hair tightly.
She hummed softly, glancing at him through her lashes before slowly dragging her hands down his back, drifting across his sides and down to the button of his pants. He let out a hiss as the zipper came undone, some of the pressure being relieved. Lily stared as she slid his pants down his thighs, watching his face scrunch up as she did so.
She chewed her lip, Calum was usually so collected, seeing him like this was new, and she wanted to see how much more undone he could become.
He quickly kicked his pants the rest of the way off, kissing her roughly and forcing his tongue between her lips, feverishly exploring her mouth and running his hands over her body, hooking his fingers into the waistband of her panties, dragging them down her legs and tossing them to join the growing clothing pile at the end of the bed. He slowly pulled away, earning a whine from Lily at the loss of contact. He chuckled lowly, slowly beginning to kiss down her jaw. She hummed, running her fingers through his dark hair. He began nibbling just below her ear, lips quickly sucking at the spot and she gasped, tugging on the curls at the nape of his neck, “Cal,” she whispered, trying to pull him away from her neck.
He hummed, quickly kissing the spot before looking up at her, eyebrows raised, “No marks, babygirl?” he asked, thumb brushing over her lips.
She looked down at him, sucking his lips between his teeth as he waited for her answer. She sighed, “Just not where anyone can see.”
He grinned at her answer, eyes lighting up as he repositioned himself, brushing kisses over her cheeks before beginning to move down her chest. She let out a soft whine as he began nibbling and sucking at her skin, spending extra time when he got down to her hip bone, his lower body half off of the bed as he’d scooted farther and farther down her body. He settled between her thighs, gently sliding one leg over his shoulder while he pressed featherlight kisses to the inside of her thigh. She let out a shaky breath, grasping the curls at the top of his head, causing him to look up at her.
“You still ok with this, doll?” he whispered, fingers lightly brushing over her hip.
She nodded, whispering, “Yeah, Cal, go ahead.”
He smiled, pressing another gentle kiss to her hip before replacing his lips with a strong hand, gripping her tightly as his breath fanned over her heat. Lily took a deep breath, hand tangling back into his curls as he pressed a kiss to her clit before trailing his tongue up her slit, letting out a low groan as he got his first taste. He cussed softly before beginning to suck at her clit, earning a gasp of his name from Lily. He hummed, glancing up at her as he began kitten licking at the bundle of nerves, before slipping a single finger into her.
“Fuckin hell, Lil.” he whispered as she pressed her hips closer to him and whimpered at his actions. “How longs it been since someone paid you any attention?”
He laughed lowly when she answered him, “too long,” giving her hip a quick kiss before returning his attention to her clit while he began pumping his finger in and out of her core.
He took his time after that, slowly adding a second and third finger to her, enjoying the pleasured moans passing her lips as he laid between her thighs. He was becoming more and more aware of the ache in his cock when she whimpered his name, clenching around his fingers. Calum let out a low groan, removing his fingers from her core, “It’s ok, let go love.” he whispered, slick fingers gripping her thigh as he plunged his tongue into her. She gasped before falling apart on his tongue, fingers tightening in his hair. He groaned, cleaning her up as she came down, finally dragging himself away from her core and slowly kissing back up her body to her lips. He parted his lips, allowing her to explore his mouth with her tongue this time. She moaned softly as she tasted herself on his lips and tongue and he hummed softly pressing closer to her, hands grasping her waist. He pulled away after a minute, forehead resting against hers as he whispered, “trust me?”
She nodded quickly, “always have, Calum.”
He smiled and nodded at her, giving her another quick kiss before shifting and finally removing his boxers. His face scrunched up as his length was finally freed and he hissed, quickly looking around for his discarded pants. Once he’d found them he dug into the back pockets, producing a condom and rolling it onto himself before crawling back over Lily, separating her thighs as he pressed his lips to hers again. “Ready?” he whispered, looking down into her blown out eyes, she managed to nod and he hummed softly, moving a hand to his length and guiding himself in. He’d barely pushed more than his tip into her and they were both already clinging to each other, groaning at the feeling. He laid his head in the crook of her neck, mumbling praise in her ear as he slowly continued to push into her, until he finally bottomed out. He could feel her adjusting to him and he just held still, waiting for her.
“Calum,” she finally whispered, fingers running through his hair.
He nodded slowly, pushing himself up and beginning to slowly thrust in and out of her. She moaned softly, and he smiled, pressing his lips to her cheek as he tried to shift himself better. After a while he’d picked up his pace, bending one of her legs and keeping a tight grip on her thigh so he could get a better angle as he continued to snap his hips into hers quickly, the thumb of his other hand rubbing circles on her clit. He could feel her reaching her high again and nodded to her, not being able to say anything as he began chasing his own high, thrusts becoming sloppy as he felt her finish around him. He spilled into the condom, continuing to slowly thrust into her as they both came down.
He slowly slipped out of her, groaning at the loss of contact, removing the used condom and knotting it and throwing it into the trashcan right by the bed and curling up at her side. “Needed that.” Lily whispered, eyes still closed as she tried to catch her breath.
Calum hummed, fixing the strands of hair that were sticking to her face. “How about we both go get a shower real quick, and then I’ll get you back to the house and we’ll have a good sleepover? I wanna hold you as long as I can.”
She nodded quickly and Calum helped her out of bed, both slowly walking across the room to the bathroom. Calum started the shower, holding her tightly as they stepped under the warm water. They slowly cleaned up, Calum pressing gentle kisses to Lily’s skin whenever he could, until they were both getting out and wrapping their bodies in towels. Lily walked to the desk she’d left her purse on, pulling out a pair of leggings and sliding them over her bare legs. Calum walked over to her, still bare chested, but now wearing sweatpants, handing her his dark green hoodie from his suitcase. She grinned up at him, letting the towel drop to the floor before pulling it over her head. “That’s my favorite hoodie now, Lily, I better get it back.” he teased softly, pulling a shirt over his head while she started picking up her clothes, folding the blouse and skirt so that she could easily carry them out while shoving her bra and panties into her purse.
He grabbed a suit bag from the closet before picking up his wallet, phone, and keys, placing his wallet and phone in the pocket of the hoodie Lily had on before taking her hand, both of them sliding on their shoes before heading down into the lobby and out to the parking lot, Lily giving him the address of the Air BnB as he started driving.
When they arrived, Ashton’s car was gone and Lily just hummed, pulling her copy of the key out of her purse and led the way inside. Calum looked around, smiling as she led him into her room. She went into the closet, hanging up her sixties outfit before taking everything out of her purse, dropping the bra on the floor while just tossing the panties into her laundry bag. She grabbed a clean pair of underwear, changing into them and walking out of the closet, leaving the leggings behind as she crawled into bed with Calum. He reached over her to cut off the light while she moved to lay on his chest, his arm winding around her shoulders.
Lily fell asleep quickly and Calum smiled down at her, hand running through her damp hair as he thought about the night. He heard Ashton come back inside and head into his room not long after they’d come back. He took a deep breath as he thought about the texts he’d sent Ashton before the party, knowing they’d have to talk about it sometime in the morning, but looking at Lily asleep on his chest, he didn’t care, closing his eyes and drifting off.
Warning HOT CALUM BIRTHDAY SEX
Cher was a little bit surprised when she opened hey front door and saw Ashton next to Calum holding a pet carrier. She'd mentioned to Ashton she was thinking about getting a cat but honestly showing up with one was a bit much.
“I can explain doll, but we need your help,” Ashton told her as she let them in. Within minutes they were all sitting on the living room floor playing with the little guy. It was a boy Calum confirmed retelling the story of finding him and the trip to the vet.
“He gets too freaked out by Duke and Ashton is allergic so I was hoping you guys could at least foster him until we could find him a home…?” Calum's eyes were pleading. He also knew Camille wasn't home and Cher would be easier to convince.
“Of course!” Cher squealed “what a cute little guy, what's his name?”
“He doesn't have one yet, although he won't stop biting Ashton so maybe Dracula?” Calum laughed reaching over to scratch the kitty behind the ears. In response the cat reared up on its back legs batting its front paws at Calum. “Or maybe Ali cause he's such a fighter,” he played with him until the kitten stopped playing and bit him. Calum jerked back shaking his hand as tiny drops of blood appeared on his finger. Ashton laughed “I told you it hurt.” Cher giggled and ticked the kitten under his neck, “he's a sweet boy.”
Just then the door slammed shut and Camille was standing there watching them. “Calum I know you had something to do with this,” she told him eyeing the cat suspiciously.
“Hey gorgeous, let me help you with that,” Calum hopped up taking the grocery bags from her hands. “You're going to have to help me put them away though. You know I can never remember your system Darling.” Calum headed into the kitchen with Camille close behind.
“I wanna name him Ringo,” Cher told Ashton saying the first thing that came to mind.“That's so cute but are you sure you'll be able to keep him?” Ashton looked unsure.Cher laughed, “Camille tells him yes all the time. I've never heard a no.” Just then a gasp and Camille's laughter came from the kitchen. Cher looked at Ashton and they cracked up. “I told you he'd talk her into it,” Cher told him.“I don't think he's talking,” Ashton replied. “Ow you little fucker.” He pulled his hand back from petting the cat, tiny pinpricks of red appearing on his skin. “That's the sixth time he's bitten me,I don't think he likes me.”“That's okay, I like you” Cher kissed his hand where he was “hurt” just as Calum and Camille returned.
“Okay fine, Calum talked me into letting you foster the cat until he could find a home for him,” Camille told her.Cher started to object but caught the wink Calum gave her over Camille's shoulder and shut her mouth as Camille walked over and Cher handed her the cat. Camille softened a little when he gave her a tiny meow, she scratched the top of his head warming to the idea and then he bit her.Calum was telling Cher all of the vets instructions when Ashton followed Camille back into the kitchen.
“Hey,” Ashton bumped her hip with his “ you sure you're okay with us taking Cal out for a boys night?” Camille sighed “I'm not ecstatic about Calum going and getting pissed drunk without me around, but I also know that if I'm there...”“Calum will be glued to your side and acting like an idiot,” Ashton finished. Camille looked away her face hot “I trust Calum enough to know he's not interested in a hook up. We're solid right now, and nothing, not even a boys night out can change that.” Ashton smiled, “We'll take care of him sweetheart.”
“To the birthday boy!” Ashton yelled as everyone raised their glasses before downing their shots. Calum laughed when Luke grimaced at the tequila. They'd been at it for a couple hours and were starting to get loud and giggly.The bar they found was a little hole in the wall with a jukebox and some arcade games. Luke flopped down on a couch and Ashton took a seat next to him. Calum was talking to Connor and showing him something on his phone. Mitch was chatting up some random girls lingering at the edge of the group and Roy and Mikey were dancing.
Ashton poked Luke and pointed towards them “I don't think Mikey's feet have touched the ground since he proposed to Crystal. Can you believe he was so nervous about it?” Luke smiled and nodded, “yeah but you can never be entirely sure how someone else feels about you. Is Calum on fucking Snapchat again? Calum, you whipped puppy get over here and leave that poor girl alone.” Luke watched Calum make kissy faces at the phone before wandering over and sitting on Luke's lap.
“What are my boys talking about over here?” Calum hiccuped and ruffled Ashton's hair. Luke shifted to adjust to Calum's weight as Ashton spoke, “We were talking about the perfect couple. No surprise Mikey's the first to get wifed up. Wonder who's next?” Ashton raised his eyebrows at them dramatically. Calum chuckled and shook his head bringing his beer bottle to his lips.
“Pshhhhtttt we all know it's you Cal. You're heavier than you look.” Luke grunted pushing Calum off his lap. Michael walked over just as Calum squished between Luke and Ashton.
“Michael, tell them I'm right,” Luke whined before Ashton laughed and Mikey heard Calum grumble “Shut up dude.”
“What are you wrong about Luke?” Michael asked making Calum grin.“Dickhead,” Luke glared at Michael before continuing. “I said you and Crystal are the perfect couple and Ashton asked who I thought would propose next out of the group.”“You said Calum right?” Mikey asked earning him a burst of giggles from Luke and a high five.
Ashton got the waitress to bring the another round of shots. “We've been dating three months guys calm down,” Calum protested.“Yeah I know I'm just fucking with you Cal, but you probably have the strongest relationship out of you three.” Michael remarked. “Hey I've been with Summer longer,” Luke protested sitting up. “Luke, be serious,” Calum shot back and the other three cracked up.
“Be Serious. HA Oh God you even sound like Camille” even Ashton was giving him shit now. “Next thing you'll be calling him peanut.”
“Fuck you guys, I like my girlfriend and I like my nickname.” Luke slurred a bit and  pretended to pout. “Don't turn this on me because Calum won't admit he's in love with Camille.”
“Luke how much have you had to drink?” Calum looked uncomfortable.
“So you don't love Camille?” Luke teased him.Calum stopped and glared at him. Ashton and Michael were watching this curiously.
“Can we not have this discussion?” Calum rubbed his eyes and temples. His three friends just stared at him. “Fine, look I don't know how I feel exactly. I really like Camille, I can't deny that.”
Luke nodded satisfied and rested his head on Cal's shoulder. “Don't worry mate, she's falling for you too.”“Did she say that?” Ashton asked, knowing Luke can't keep secrets when he's drunk.
“Noooooo,” Luke slurred “but she won't shut up about you. I know she's been working on your birthday present for over a month.”“Wait you know what she's doing?” Calum grabbed Luke's shoulders and lined him in the eye.  Camille had been incredibly secretive about what she had planned tomorrow for his “gift” and anytime he asked her she blushed and dissolved into giggles. “I don't know what it is exactly, she didn't tell me.
Lucy is the one helping her and they're not telling anyone.” Luke protested.Calum let go of Luke and sat back a huge smile spreading across his face. He remembered what happened last time Camille and Lucy came up with an idea for him. Connor brought another round and just after they took it Michael put Nickleback's “Rock Star” on the jukebox.
Nobody remembered much past that point.
Calum woke up the next day a little before 1 pm. He had a headache but he wasn't dying. He vaguely remembered Camille making him drink water and put him to bed. He found a Powerade and a thermos of tea next to his bed. Beside them was a note
Happy Birthday Babe
I made you a sandwich and left it in the fridge.
Eat and get re-hydrated, you're gonna need your strength back for tonight
Wear black pants, black belt and white or black button up and be at my place at 7 pm
Calum chugged the Powerade and laid back in bed for a minute. Bits of conversation from last night floated through his mind. Maybe he really did love Camille. Certainly he'd never been this consumed with anyone before. Camille brought out his extremes, both good and bad, and to be honest it scared him a little bit.
He arrived at Camille's door a little before 7. He was nervous and excited, like a little kid on Christmas morning. Calum knew Cher was with Ashton, and he was surprised when it was Lucy who answered the door.
“Camille is finishing getting everything ready” Lucy told him, pouring him a drink. “I hope you know she's worked really hard on this. She'll call you when she's ready.” Lucy had just shut the door on her way out when he heard Camille calling his name from upstairs.
He ran up the stairs following her voice to find her in her bedroom lighting candles and wrapped in a black satin robe.  Calum moved to embrace her but Camille pointed to the sturdy wooden chair placed on a sheet spread out on the carpet at the foot of her bed. Calum smirked and took a seat, and she followed him.
He was a bit shocked when Camille restrained him by tying his hands to the chair with satin ribbon looping it through and around the chair legs.Once his hands were tied she kissed him quickly on the lips and backed away. Calum felt his whole body tingle with anticipation because this wasn't like Camille at all.
Then he heard “Drunk in Love” by Beyonce start over the speakers. Camille stood right on front of him and slowly pulled her robe off. Calum's jaw dropped and his throat went dry. He knew why she'd had to tie his hands. She started to sway her hips to the music as Calum's eyes took her in.
She looked amazing in a black push up bra, black lace panties, garter belt and stockings. Calum had been begging her to wear something like this for months, and she'd finally found the confidence.
“You like what you see babe?” Camille asked him with a wink as she danced in front of him.
“Yeah I do” his voice came out a croak.
Calum just stared, straining against his restraints and his jeans as Camille rolled her hips and bounced her ass. He bit his lip watching her thighs and ass jiggle in front of him.
It wasn't until the song switched to “Partition” that she began to touch him. Dancing close enough to press against him, twisting her hips as her hands unbuttoned his shirt and slid down his chest, her lips finding her favorite spot on his jaw.
He groaned when she lowered herself to her knees  in front of him her fingers raking his legs before kissing and biting her way up his clothed thighs. She looked up at him from between his legs, locking eyes as they had many times before. Calum's bucked his hips, cock hard and searching for her mouth. Camille grinned but didn't go any farther.
She rocked back and bounced on her knees, grinding her hips, her eyes still on him. Calum's lips parted his tongue darting between them watching her and she couldn't resist.
Camille climbed into his lap straddling him and giving him a deep kiss. Pressing her body fully into his she felt his erection brush against her clothed core causing them both to moan into the kiss.
Camille almost gave in but remembered the show wasn't over she finished unbuttoning his shirt and pulling it open. Calum grunted in protest when she stood back up.
Standing between his legs, her hands on his parted thighs, she bent over kissing his chest and raking his nipples with her teeth. He hissed with pleasure and watched her ass, perfectly in his line of sight as she swayed her hips side to side twisting bouncing and jiggling for him.
“I want to try something babe if you're not into it we don't have to” Camille whispered as XO started to play
.“Anything you want darling” he whispered back to her.
He watched her grab a small bottle of oil and a towel. She rubbed his chest with the oil sneaking in a kiss before she cleaned her hands and put everything back on her dresser. Calum gasped and his eyes lit up when he saw her pick up a candle. She dribbled some on her own wrist, testing it before standing beside the chair.
“Happy Birthday, babe” Camille purred yanking his hair and pulling his head back as the first small drops of wax hit his skin.
“More” Calum panted his eyes pressed shut and jaw slack with pleasure.Camille dripped more across his collarbone and shoulder, his breath catching in his throat with each drop.Calum was getting more turned on and Camille found herself incredibly aroused by it.
She moved the candle around decorating his chest, stomach and shoulders with red wax until Calum was begging her to please just fuck him.
Camille had one more trick before she could let him loose. She straddled his thigh and lightly scraped the hardening wax from his skin with her fingernails. Calum moaned loudly and began rocking his hips desperate for friction. This caused his thigh to jiggle against Camille's panties which were already leaving a wet spot on his pants. Camille whimpered and Calum met her eyes as she rocked her hips again pressing harder down on his thigh.
“Don't you dare” Calum groaned seeing her smirk at him. Camille braced herself and rode his thigh, biting her lip, moaning for him, both of them breathing hard and fast. Calum bounced his leg keeping time with her hips. He was so incredibly frustrated but loving every second of Camille's attention. He watched as she came against his thigh. He gave her a second to recover but he couldn't stand it any longer.
“Camille” Calum's voice was almost a warning. Camille slid up to straddle his hip looking him in the eye.
“Take me my king” she teased as she reached behind him and gave two sharp tugs and Calum felt the ties on his wrist go slack.
With a deep growl Calum exploded out of the chair kicking it to the side. His arms grasping Camille's waist as he all but tossed her onto the bed. Calum threw his shirt to the side and yanked off his belt, his pants and boxers quickly followed. Calum pounced on Camille his hands rough pushing her thighs apart and ripping her panties off.
“Yes my king” Camille cooed in his ear spurring him on.
Calum slammed into her both of them gasping and clawing at each other. Desperate kisses, her hands buried in his hair they moved together as Calum set a relentless pace
They were past words their eyes communicating everything they couldn't say. Camille began to clench around him causing him to drive even deeper and harder into her. His fingertips leaving bruises on her hips as her breathy moans told him she was close. Her feet beating on his back as she came undone underneath him.
Calum felt his orgasm hit him so hard he swore his soul left his body. He yelled so loud he startled Camille as he kept thrusting into her, chest heaving, hips stuttering as he emptied himself completely into her. He lay cradled in her neck for several minutes before his brain could think much less form words. He blinked trying to focus on her face smiling down at him.
“Wow, that was intense Calum. Happy birthday my king” Camille laughed.
“My queen” Calum kissed her before nuzzling back into her neck “my love.”
Calum College Series: Part 3
Calum had to get up very early the next day, much to his distaste. Calum, as a rule, was not a morning person, it wasn’t the waking up that bothered him, but the functioning like a normal person that killed him. It always took him a couple of hours at least before he was ready to start talking to other people. He began to get dressed as he heard a groan from Ashton’s bed.
“Jesus, how much did I drink?” Ashton tried to push himself up from the bed, but his arms quickly gave way, so he fell straight back down. Admitting defeat, he thought it would be best just to stay lying down.
“To be fair mate, you seemed pretty lucid when I found you. But you seemed very keen with Ava.” Calum was just tying his shoes, as he looked up at his friend.
“Oh god, please don’t tell me I did anything?”
“Not that I know,” Calum looked at him quizzically. “Why? Are you not so keen on her now you are sober?”
Even in his dazed-out state, Ashton still managed to throw his pillow in Calum’s direction.
“Shut up Cal, I’m not like that. I just don’t want to rush anything or make something of myself. Besides, I barely know the girl.”
Calum stayed silent, figuring it was better than saying something he would regret. He thought it was weird though, Ashton had known Ava only a few hours less than he had known Mollie. But he had such strong feelings towards Mollie and felt elated when they had kissed. Ashton’s comment had only made him question whether he was rushing things with Mollie, maybe his mind was racing ahead of its time.
“Right well, I’m going to head out for my classes. Make sure you eat something and stay hydrated. I’ll see you in a bit.” With that, Calum left Ashton in his sleepy haze and started walking to his classes. As he closed the door, he was greeted by a beautiful chestnut-haired girl, with big green eyes, and a dazzling smile.
“Good morning, sleep well?” Mollie looked up at Calum awaiting his response. Calum looked at Mollie with keen eyes. He didn’t understand how she could look so beautiful every time he saw her. She was wearing a floral playsuit with white trainers, it was simple, but Calum thought it suited her so well.
“Yes, thank you, my night ended so well last night. I slept like a baby.” Mollie looked at the ground blushing so slightly. She never handled flirty conversations well, but with Calum, she was a blushing mess.
“Oh yes? And why did your night end so well?”
“Well, I had the most beautiful girl in my arms, and I even managed to give her a kiss,” Calum smirked at Mollie knowingly, wanting her to feel his adoration towards her.
“I’m glad you had such a lovely night, mine ending in a similar way too.”
“What? You kissed a beautiful girl too?” Mollie laughed at Calum’s remark. She was thankful that he didn’t make it too flirty this time in the morning.
“So, what do you have today?” Mollie began to walk out of the dorms, and Calum followed closely. He liked how genuinely keen she was to listen to him; he appreciated her curiosity.
“First, I have statistics, then physics, then Italian. It should be a good day, oh yeah, I also find out about soccer!” With Mollie on his brain, Calum forgot all about his soccer trials, it was weird how so much could happen in such a short amount of time. College was strange like that.
“Oh, I have physics second as well, is it with Professor Wiley?” Mollie looked up at him hopefully. She wasn’t the most confident of people in a class, so she was hopeful that she would have Calum to sit with.
“Yeah, it is! Do you want to sit together?” They walked towards the bikes so Mollie could pick hers up.
“Yes please!” Mollie exclaimed, quickly realising how enthusiastic she sounded she retreated slightly. “I mean, only if you want to. If you have someone else to sit with that’s cool.”
“Considering how I asked you, I’m more than happy to sit with you.” Calum nudged Mollie with his hip, trying to reassure her. Mollie smiled at him bashfully, as she began to unlock her bike.
“Great! I have bio first so if you get there first can you save me a seat? I will save you one if I’m there first.”
“Sounds great to me, I will see you there!” Calum wanted to kiss her again but settled for a hug. Only the hug was slightly clumsy as Mollie was trying to hold her bike up and the folder in her arms.
Mollie climbed onto her bag and gave Calum one last look. She cycled off to her next class leaving Calum stood outside of the dorms. He smiled to himself as he watched her go. There was something so endearing about her, he could stare at her for hours. But if he did that, he would be late for his first college class, and not wanting to get off on the wrong foot he began to walk to class.
He walked into the vast lecture hall, it was old fashioned with wooden chairs and desks shaped in an oval with a large blackboard placed at the front of the class. The professor was leaving against the desk watching the students mill in. When Calum had arrived the lecture hall was probably only a quarter full, he looked around quickly seeing if there were any friendly looking faces. He climbed the stairs, taking a seat in the middle next to a boy with long shaggy blonde hair. Calum thought he looked like a good guy so decided it was worth a chance.
“Hey mate, I’m Calum, nice to meet you,” Calum said as he sat down and took out his pen and paper ready for the lecture to begin.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Luke.” Luke smiled at Calum, watching him take his stuff out.
Calum and Luke made idle chit chat as more students walked into the lecture hall. Some students looked very confident and sat down at the front of the room, eager to begin. Others appeared timid and more looked for a friendly face to sit with like Calum had done. Next to Calum there was another boy who was wearing a soccer jersey with a jacket thrown over the top.
“Hey, I saw you at the soccer trials. You were so good!” The boy smiled at Calum. Calum returned the smile gratefully; he was about to say something as the lecturer began speaking.
“Welcome class, I’d like to say thank you for getting out of bed this early in the morning to attend this lecture. If you have any problems, please get in touch via email or come to my contact hours in my office. I hope you enjoy this module, and let’s get started.”
Calum quite liked the lecture; he found the topic very interesting, and the lecturer was brilliant at explaining. As the lecture wrapped up, he began putting his stuff back in his bag as Luke turned to him. “That wasn’t that bad, if you want to meet up to study or something do you think we should exchange numbers?”
“Yeah mate that sounds good.” Luke and Calum quickly exchanged numbers and filled out of the lecture room. Calum had about 5 minutes to arrive at his next lecture, luckily it was in the same building so it shouldn’t take him too long. He desperately wanted to make sure he could get two seats together, not wanting to disappoint Mollie. Thankfully when he had walked in, there were plenty of spaces available. Not being too sure where Mollie would want to sit, Calum chose a couple of seats near the middle so she wouldn’t be too close to the front where she would have to crane her neck looking up at the board; or near the back where she could struggle to hear the lecturer. To an outsider’s view, people would think that Calum might be overthinking about this, but to Calum, he didn’t want any excuse for Mollie to not be happy with him. If something as simple as a seat in a lecture could make Mollie happy, he was glad to do it.
Mollie walked into the room, searching for a familiar face. Calum noticed Mollie as soon as she walked in and found it cute at how hesitant she looked while trying to find Calum. Calum wanted to make it easier for her, so he raised his hand and waved at her. When she saw Calum, her eyes lit up and walked over to where he was sitting. She placed her folder on the desk and sat down, tucking her playsuit underneath her. Calum turned slightly, so his body was more towards her.
“How was physics?” She asked.
“It was good thank you, I even made a new friend.” He raised his eyebrows as he spoke, trying to make her laugh.
“You, made a new friend? Now that is shocking, did they feel sorry for you?” Mollie joked. Calum chortled and nudged her shoulder slightly in retaliation. They stopped talking and just stared at each other for a few moments. Neither could explain the intense attraction between each other, but neither wanted to deny its presence. As Calum got out his pen and paper, and Mollie got out her laptop and water bottle, the lecturer walked into the room and began the lecture.
At college there were always two types of students: those who were like Mollie, furiously writing down everything the lecturer said, using a multitude of coloured pens and highlighters; and those like Calum, who wrote about five words before getting bored and began to start doodling in the corners of the page. Mollie noticed Calum’s wandering attention, so would tap on his page in an attempt to get him to start writing again. When she saw that wasn’t working, she decided to draw a couple of doodles on the page herself. Calum laughed at her efforts.
“Let me guess, you’re one of those people who do next to no work, yet still manages to get perfect marks?” Mollie spoke as began to gather her things together.
“No not at all,” Calum replied as they walked down the stairs as to exit the lecture hall. “It’s just I struggle to keep up sometimes with the lecturer, so I prefer to revise on my own at my own pace.” Mollie felt a bit guilty for jumping to conclusions, but she had come across too many people in her life that was gifted academically, and the work they put in didn’t seem to correspond with the fantastic marks they always got. Mollie always felt like she had to work a lot harder than most to get where she wanted to be.
“Well if you need a study partner, you can always ask me.” Calum felt tingly inside when Mollie offered her help him study. He felt flattered that she was willing to help him.
“You know what, I might have to take you up on that offer.”
“Well if you want, we can meet up tonight. It wouldn’t hurt to look through our module and start organising things for our assessments.” Mollie felt like she was grasping at straws trying to make reasons to be with Calum. They had only had one lesson, so there really was nothing to do, but Mollie wanted to spend more time with Calum.
“Yeah, that sounds great! I have soccer practice tonight, but afterwards, I’m all yours!” Calum didn’t mean for it to come out like that, but Mollie blushed, nonetheless.
“Great, well, I have to go to my next class, but, erm, maybe we should get each other’s numbers, that way, erm, you could message me when you’re done?” Mollie was fumbling with her phone spinning it around in her fingers. She held it out for Calum to take so he could put in his number. Mollie would be lying if she said that her heart wasn’t racing, but she wanted an excuse to be able to talk to Calum more. Calum took it eagerly and put in his number, he grabbed his phone out of his back pocket and give it to Mollie so she could do the same. Mollie put in her number and handed it back to Calum. They smiled at each other and Mollie said goodbye as she headed to her next class.
The next class went really smoothly, Calum had fun in Italian. He managed to make a couple more friends, including a boy called Michael. Michael seemed very soft spoken and kind hearted, he made Calum feel at ease. When the class was over, he walked over to the soccer pitch ready to begin practice. He was excited to find out what team he was, but he was hopeful of making the top team, especially with Ashton’s and the boy from his first class’s comments. Calum lined up with the rest of the boys, waiting for the coach. He found the boy he had met in his first class and stood beside him.
“Welcome gentlemen, nice to see you all. I have drafted the lists of the teams in the changing rooms. They are not up for negotiation, the only way you will change my mind is if you improve.” The coach shouted as the boys looked at each other sceptically.
The boys walked into the changing rooms to see their fate. Calum was beyond relieved to read that he had made the first team, he couldn’t wait to call home and tell his parents. The practice was stressful, and the boys were indeed to pushed to their limits. Unlike most, Calum liked being tested, he knew that to be the best he had to push himself. He thought the coach was going to be brilliant for making him a better player.
After practice, Calum was quick to pack his stuff and to leave the pitch. He said goodbye to his teammates, not wanting to appear rude, but it is evident that he was in a definite hurry. He sent Mollie a quick text to say that training was over and was walking back to dorms. He explained that he needed to take a quick shower and should be with her within the hour.
