Does fanfic exist of SaShiSu just being housemates? I need this AU so bad 😭
Tumblr media
✨ masterlist ✨
Like I want more wholesome shenanigans between the three of them...
Like, I need more content of just Satoru, Shoko, and Suguru being the best of friends going through ups and downs together, navigating through that phase in life where high school ends and university days begin.
Satoru is the rich friend and wanted to buy the three of them a house with his parents' money, but Suguru and Shoko refuse and are adamant about showing rich boy what it's like to live in the real world.
So they rent a 3-bedroom 2-bathroom apartment unit... (Satoru and Suguru share a bathroom, and Shoko gets her own bathroom, for obvious reasons). It's still pretty upscale compared to most, but they all agreed to pitch in for the rent and utilities.
I want to see moments where Satoru learns how to do laundry, moments where Suguru figures out how to make the perfect fried rice recipe, moments where Shoko stays up super late to study and the boys stay up with her and help her with flash cards and stuff.
They have game nights, movie nights, spring cleaning days, laundry days.
I want to see friendship fights and friendship fluff afterwards.
I want to see moments where they have personal emergencies, and they each know how to take care of each other.
I want to see them get drunk together. Satoru gets wasted first because he's a lightweight and he RARELY drinks. He consumes alcohol like once a year and only because he lost to Suguru in a bet.
They're each other's best wingman and wing-woman and they roast each other so hard, like only best friends can.
They see each other's best qualities and know each other's worst habits.
I want to see Satoru whining and complaining when he keeps finding black and brown strands of hair everywhere. He also finds stray hair clips and hair ties in the most random places.
I need to hear Shoko complain about all the random shit Satoru and Suguru keep buying and placing around the house. They don't even need most of it. One or two or five is fine, but sometimes it accumulates and ends up cluttering the kitchen counters and takes up valuable cooking space.
(Like why do we need Digimon figurines in the kitchen? Why do jars of multi-colored marbles keep multiplying on available counter spaces?)
I want to see Suguru being passive-aggressive, sassy, and petty about his two housemates not carrying their own weight when it comes to housework. Suguru's toxic trait is that he refuses other people's help when it comes to cleaning because he has a way of doing things that he MUST follow and NO ONE is allowed to mess with it, but he gets annoyed when people don't help him while he's cleaning.
I want to see them juggle part-time jobs and college schoolwork... Well, Shoko and Suguru would get jobs. Satoru is a nepo-baby.
Even if Satoru is a nepo-baby, he at least knows what normal people (like you and me) do to function and live in a society drenched in capitalism, and it's all thanks to Suguru and Shoko.
When Shoko and Suguru struggle to make ends meet financially, it's Satoru to the rescue! They rarely ask for his help, obviously, but rich boy finds out anyway and if he can help, HE WILL HELP.
The three of them are family at this point.
If you date any one of them, just know that they're a package deal. You can't have one without the two.
I want a disney movie with the three of them as main characters, basically -- where friendship and family love saves the day! 🙌
Is this too much to ask?
From Gege? Well, yes... 😩
(JJK canon has just broken me beyond repair... *sobs in Ch #236).

Tumblr media
I know that this scene in 2x01 is called romantic or sexy. And it is romantic and sexy, agree. Danny without a tie. Steve liking it. Yeah.
But sometimes when I watch it I can't stop thinking about the previous episode, about Danny choosing Steve, Danny not leaving with Rachel, Danny being like "Don't feel sorry about it, Steve. It's ok. It's ok, babe".
When I watch it I think about Danny's life now with Steve and his old life with Rachel (and Hollander family in general).
And I don't see "just a tie/no tie".
Tumblr media
To me the tie and Danny not wearing it here... It's a symbol.
By "to me" I mean someone who finds Danny damn relatable. Anxiety, depression, other issues. Some of character traits. And a past that was like a hell.
I know that many of you like and defend Rachel and the idea of her co-parenting with Danny. And I respect that. I just think differently. And huh, I'm that salty cause I know such people like Rachel and her mother. I had my own Hollanders, in my own family, in my circle of friends. Destructive, toxic, manipulative, entitled, narcissistic people who will never change, will never stop hurt you. Who will ruin your life, all what you love, your passions, your heart, your mind. Believe me, when you're anxious and sensitive inside and you have to live (you think that you have to) with such destructive people... It sucks. (No matter if you chose these people or not). You're not anxious anymore, you're mega anxious. And many times you hate/blame yourself. All what Rachel and her mother have done to Danny (and Gracie) before and after divorce - it was a hell. To me it was a hell. A hell he never deserved.
So yes, in my eyes Danny was a victim in that cursed marriage (I swear, I'll make separate stuff about it one day). In my eyes after divorce Rachel tried to make him her marionette. After divorce she ruined him even more. And he let her again - for Gracie (all Danny's pain was for Gracie and geez, that poor girl deserves to know this).
This marriage was like a tie. A tie-noose tightening around Danny's neck. Danny couldn't breathe (well, literally too - anxiety can give you such a panic attacks). He was like a bird in a cage.
But he met Steve. He liked him. He loved him. For the first time in his life he felt genuine romantic love. And such a strong friendship. For the first time in his life he felt safe. He saw himself in Steve's eyes. He saw that they're two poor birds who still could fly - together. Danny can escape. He can leave his old life. He can escape AND have Gracie. (He wants Steve too).
All is possible, you should fight, do what you want - that's what Danny sees when he looks at Steve. What he sees in Steve's eyes in the last episode of season 1. That's what deep down Danny feels in his own heart. And to think that Danny calls Steve crazy. This, this new "crazy" life, full of dangerous cases, bombs, grenades, Steve's "goofy" actions, sharks, adventures... Maybe it's funny but this life, it's a life where Danny is safe, calm and happy. It's a life where he can heal. (Where he sees himself and Grace). Whereas his old life: easy, cosy, quiet, lovely and so normal... was calm and normal only on surface. His old life was a battlefield.
His old life was like Danny's outfit - elegant, pretty on surface but not always comfortable. And now, Danny has no tie. In this scene above he laughs. He touches his neck and makes a face like "Hanged man no more". Something is over. He's really happy. Still worried about Gracie, about Steve, yes - but not about Rachel anymore. He doesn't regret. He doesn't cry over Rachel and "lost chance". Nah. Leaving Steve - that would be a lost chance. His real chance is Steve.
He's free. He's a free bird. A free bird looking now at his lovebird. Saying "it will be okay".
Soon Danny wears more and more comfortable clothes. We can see it in many episodes. Jeans, t-shirts, shorts. Danny breathes. Danny is Hawaiian now. Steve's. He's like a kid trying to have fun again. Of course sometimes Danny still wears his ties and pretty shirts. Yeah. But he's with Steve. And when he's with him all is always comfortable. All is Danny-ish. All is good. There's no abuse. No lies. No using you as a tool. No using your passion (job) against you. No playing with your free will. No "you're not good enough", no "prove that you're worthy" and no "you're the bad one", "it's your fault", "bad, bad, bad Danny".
There is love.
And when I see Danny wearing a tie when he's with Stevie - then I see a nice tie, I see Danny being glamorous for Steve. THEN I see just a tie. No noose anymore.
@chaosrising451 Babe, sorry for tagging you (I hope you're feeling better) but I remember our talk about Steve suffering from abuse so I thought that maybe you would be interested in Danny's case too.

Alright strap in I’ve got Crosshair headcanons and thoughts and you are being subjected to them hi hello enjoy:
Really craves friendship. Wants friends more than anything but for the life of him has never been good at making them. Mostly bc his defense mechanism is to be mean to keep strangers at arms length. Choose to have them dislike you before they even get a chance to make that decision themselves. It’s hard to penetrate those defenses.
AND YET this man contradicts every word he says. He hates regular clones huh? Then explain Cody and Echo and Mayday to me Crossy. Explain them to me bro. You even like Rex when it’s all said and done and that man PUNCHED YOU IN THE FACE. Explain yourself Crosshair.
Is pretty quiet for the most part but when he gets chatty it’s a mile a minute. He’ll sit next to his brothers or follow them around and just talk talk talk talk talk. Only happens once in awhile but when it does happen they all just stay quiet and listen to him. First time he did that to Echo it was completely out of the blue and he came up behind Echo and just started ranting. Echo stared at him with wide eyes for like ten minutes like ‘is this real? Is he okay?’ Before just sitting down and getting stuck in an hour long chat where he did like zero talking.
Gossipy bastard. Loves to gossip. Loves hearing it. Loves telling it. He’s so quiet most people forget he’s there and they say wild shit in front of him. He tells the 99 everything.
If one of his brothers asks who his favorite is he changes his answer depending on who has annoyed him most that day. ‘Oh you want to know who my favorite is? Wrecker, clearly. Hunter is my least favorite bc he took too long in the shower and used up all the hot water.’
Massive sweet tooth. Keep this man away from a candy store he’ll give himself cavities.
If they’re training playing with fake blasters he makes a ‘pew pew’ sound when he ‘shoots’ it. Super quiet and under his breath but he does it.
He has a game where he tries to see how many tiny rolled up pieces of paper he can get into Hunter’s hair or armor before Hunter catches on. Oh the amount of times he’s been yanked from his bunk after being caught is innumerable.
Loves listening to Tech infodumping but will never admit it out loud. He has learned so much and has found a lot of it fascinating but prefers to sit quietly and keep his eyes closed while Tech talks.
Him and Wrecker have so many more competitions than just the one. They compete all the time. Who can run the fastest. Who can name the most planets. Anything. As long as it’s a competition.
Pretends to be asleep so people don’t ask him to do things and then promptly actually falls asleep.
Cries. Like a lot. Well. Not a lot just a lot more than you’d think. While most people would think he’s too aloof for that I think he picked up a good habit of letting out big bursts of emotion because he always saw Wrecker do it. And he trusts Wrecker. Doesn’t like crying in front of other people but will hide to get some emotion out before rejoining the group.
Secret softy. But in the way where he’ll make fun of his brothers while doing something nice for them. He’s picking up their fave candy from a shop? He’ll throw it at their face when he gives it to them. They’re upset? He’s going to find a way to make sure they get a good meal and have some company but he’s going to be aggressive about it. ‘You haven’t eaten since yesterday. You’re being an idiot. Eat the fucking burrito I went to three different places to find one that would give me the salsa you like now don’t waste my time.’
His toxic trait is acting like he hates when one of them is hugging him as they are hugging him. ‘Ugh get off of me. You’re the worst.’ As he’s tightly hugging them back. Crosshair, honey, why are you like this?

Tuning in on the family stuff with Miguel. Are we even sure that he used to have a family in his own dimension? Because the way he talked about his past made it sound like he might’ve not even had that. So either he might’ve had a family before and experienced twice the loss. Or did he just have a very shitty life, which made it easier for him to go somewhere where he has someone to personally love & care for. Also, when he left his dimension, wouldn’t that mean things went down the pits there?
Maybe !! Again, there’s tons of possibilities since the backstory is so vague so far, and you’re hitting all the right possible marks
I personally subscribe to him having a family before (or at least having Gabriella before), since it makes more sense for his choice to jump worlds that way since that want is so so so much more potent if he had experienced that positive experience before.
Under the cut, mentions of domestic abuse, neglect, suicidality, getting drugged
His life really is. Shitty. In the comics. He lacked a lot of stability growing up, his step-father being verbally and physically abusive while his mother was traumatized as a result (but coped with it unhealthily by later on neglecting Miguel, and projecting her hatred for his real father (Tyler Stone, Alchemax CEO) onto him growing up. His brother became completely jealous of him and tried to kill him, his love life is tumultuous and he has had outbursts that cost him that which he regrets deeply, and a lot of his own bodily autonomy was taken away from him at work since his spider-man origins revolve around Tyler drugging him with an extremely addictive substance (Rapture) that he could only get out through a gene splicer machine (and his co worker tried to kill him using spider DNA in that process). He is frequently shown as being suicidal and had a pretty in depth fantasy with that… it’s really hard to read and shocking tbh
So it makes total sense why he would jump at the opportunity to find somewhere where everything is better— even more so, if Gabriella was basically his only ray of sunshine in his own world, lost her, and would do anything to get back to her.
Maybe in his dimension, everything turned out for the worse too. His family dead (yeah his mom gets a redemption but gets killed off in a poorly done way— ,maybe Gabriel died too, or they ended on such bad terms they just never see each other again), partner dead, and the one person he had consistent positive connection to (his daughter) is dead or gone… he’ll, maybe his reputation as Spider-Man has take a turn for the worst and he can’t take being public enemy number one anymore. It would be hard to resist the temptation to go elsewhere, and part of it being to give himself a second chance and redeem himself since he fucked up a lot of his relationships himself. He’s remorseful, and heavily driven by guilt, and painfully aware of his shortcomings and his toxic traits that he has internalized over the years.
So yeah personally I can see your takes as being an ‘all the above’ type thing in my interpretation based on the comics :))
I guess my personal summation of it is,, no family (anymore— dead or cut off), but had one and wanted to hold onto that with Gabriella, his choice was absolutely influenced by his personal trauma and upbringing and guilt complex, and maybe he left his dimension since he felt he had nothing left to lose. Maybe during the period he left his own dimension, things stayed relatively/negatively the same? Since it’s a universe run by Alchemax (in the comics) and maybe he started feeling helpless since there’s not enough that could be done to stop it, and he lost so much motivation over time despite wishing he could do more to change it?

Saw posts and and tweets about how junho getting upset and complaining how the dates that youngwoo planned was so out of character for him. Now while I respect everyone's reaction and opinion,I beg to differ. To me, it was totally in character. Also, i was real glad that he was showing frustration and being a sulky boyfwend (that cutie patootie)
I think he would've eventually talked about it/brought it up. Him not talking about it doesn't mean he wasn't being true or ooc. Man is whipped. He was excited to be out on a date with his girl and my girl showed up with a huge ass trash basket asfghjkl (Did I mention how much I love her). Anyways, our girl caught him unawares with her "my dad caught us sucking face and wanted to meet you but I was like nah, we're not a thing yet. (I love her) . SoJunho, understandably thinking after all the spit exchanging and more importantly the "loving me is hard, but are you still going to. Yes." and "I'll be your personal hug chair. SMOOCH and going on dates he didn't particularly enjoy because he is just so in love,it makes him sick, the guy naturally assumed they are a thing and so when his girlfriend (assumed) said that ,boy was all wut you mean you not my boo?
Yes. He should have been clear because as we understand from young woo's side. They were going to go on dates to get to know each other before officially becoming a couple. To be fair to young woo,I don't think this would be something only an autistic person like young woo would get confused by, heck so would I.
Anyways that scene was cut. Pretty sure they became boyfriend girlfriend after and they kissed again.
Here is another thing about junho. This isn't some indepth character analysis and this is stupid because I bet it's something everyone knows but it's still something I see some people bring up or rather complain about
Junho has a short temper. He is quick to get defensive. He isn't one to shy away from showing how he feels (which is one of the reasons he is perfect for young woo). He isn't hot tempered in a toxic way if that makes sense.
For example. That time atty Kwon (fuck you) and atty Jung (loml) and that client didn't include youngwoo in their whatever drink cheers. Junho was commiting murder with his eyes.
Or that time he roughed up minwoo during the basketball match (I want him to do it again ,this time of throw the ball in his face too)
His two conversation with minwoo at home where's he got loud and upset and mad when first that ableist shit was like the girl you like can't be young woo and the other when he said that junho wasn't sure about things working out between him and the girl he likes.
Even when suyeon confronted him about his feelings for young woo abd if they were just temporary. Man got so offended and he wasn't subtle about it
And of course, the angry (HOT) at the bar body slamming an asshole to the ground and ready to pummel his face for talking shit about his girl and assuming he is dating her out of sympathy.
So you see,my man isn't as docile and sweet as you think. I don't get where the he is such a 2d character comes from? You complain about him being this boring goody two shoes and when he shows some "negative" traits then it's oh it's so disappointing he is acting this way? Doesn't make sense to me.
Lee Junho is a neon green flag with all his faults.

Astrology Analysis: You - Joe and his many loves
Tumblr media
I heard the people loud and clear! I was a bit intimidated by this at first but as a longtime fan of the show my astrology opinion soon flowed pretty easily. Please enjoy and let me know what you think!
**You is a dark show, most of the placements here are underdeveloped/extreme shadow versions, please don’t feel disrespected if any of your placements appear here
*** major spoilers below (for every season!)
Joe:
Tumblr media
Virgo rising: He’s able to appear as calm, intelligent, helpful, and overall more “normal” than someone who murders so much should be able to (he barely gets away with presenting like this and for some people he just irks them, but not as much as say a Scorpio rising would). People tend to want to believe he’s good within the universe of the show, even when he gets caught red handed. He’s also so analytical, he finds out everything about anyone he interacts with and takes note of all their responses. He tries to stay subtle and use information to connect the dots and he catalogs all the information he finds out to use later. He’s communicative in a very minimalist way too, no matter how much information he’s gathering on those around him.
Scorpio Sun: Like no one has guessed this before lol, but he’s really the poster child for a nightmare Scorpio boyfriend (on like extreme mode lol). He’s intense and attractive, and his ego is tied to possessing his partner. He needs to be in control and keeping them safe….but his view of what this means is distorted by his own ego and (later? Always??) psychosis. He’s a f*ckin menace. He’s such a if I can’t have you no one will dude, and he’s so frickin jealous my god. And he’s been cheated on before and he loses it when it comes down to it. But he’s cheated on/with his romantic interests before too. He’s very emotionally charged about the situations at hand and like a toxic water sign he never takes real responsibility for his actions.
Cancer Moon: I struggled a bit here because he’s so tied up emotionally but can easily falter when his idealized version of his love interests doesn’t work out. He’s both super fixated and fickle. Bc he’s a psycho… But who does that work for? I personally thought Cancer moon. He’s got deep mommy issues and he acts like a guy that has moon square his mars, an unfortunately common trait in domestic ab*sers. He’s constantly emotionally battling his anger and his s*x drive, and that he has a violent time actually working out his anger when it comes down to it (so many m*rders). He’s able to be very sweet one minute but literally k*ll the next. And he has a loose set of standards for his violent actions that screamed water moon to me (didn’t k*ll Love because she was pregnant… but that didn’t matter so much after she had his baby oml). Also, he frequently sees himself as the victim of circumstances he created which is kind of Cancer’s thing, especially in a man’s chart.
Virgo Mercury (conjunct rising): He communicates as efficiently as possible while overthinking and over analyzing every word in his head. He’s intelligent and good enough at analyzing literature that he’s able to bluff his way into being a literary professor (also he’s a white guy that’s why). He lies a lot but not in the way Beck does, he usually lies by telling as little as possible or changing minor details, which seems like a more virgo Mercury way to do it. He also moves really in a wirey frenetic way, especially when he’s scheming or fighting to get himself out of a corner he’s backed into.
Scorpio Venus (conjunct Pluto): (sorry Venus conjunct Pluto gang, it’s not you it’s him lol) he’s drawn to very passionate and beautiful women. Stunning s*xiness/attractiveness is an important precursor to a romantic fixation for him. Like he very frequently goes after one of the most complimented women in the room, but like in a Venus ruled way many of his love interests have something darker going on he wants to rescue them from. (He kind of breezes past Kate at first and she’s very pretty ofc but the least complimented on her looks in the show out of all his love interests so far). The more passion comes through, and the more “trials” (bad communication, rivals gotten rid of, cheating, etch) that are “passed” in the relationship, the more connected he feels to the women he’s interested in. I say trials in quotes because if things are going that sideways y’all should probably just breakup (I’m a Sagittarius Venus, no man is about to become my problem lol). And I say passed in quotes because he manipulates the situation as much as he can for his desired outcome (from stalking and stealing phones, to k*lling romantic rivals). He also stalks his love interests every time, on all their public profiles, just to find out who they present themselves to be, and this can be a habit in the most tame Scorpio Venus/Venus conjunct Pluto people lowkey. But he’ll escalate immediately to stalking them in person and getting copies of their itenerary and breaking into their phones and getting keepsakes of their things (oml his teeth jar, I’ll never forget). He’s very emotional and possessive and projects onto his romantic interests pretty much as soon as he says hello. Pluto just turns this intensity up as much as it can.
Aries Mars: because of all the m*rders. But lemme not skip ahead lol. He’s a chaser, he “competes” with rival love interests, and he loves his twisted art of winning a woman over. He acts on impulse s*xually. He’s super competitive but mostly in relationships and making sure he comes out on top romantically. He finished super fast the first time he got with Beck (sorry Aries mars, no shade). He reacts impulsively to most situations and violently when he feels threatened physically or emotionally. I feel like water mars can be overwhelming because they really feel anger and can act unpredictably but Joe is so freaking impulsive Aries mars just fit right, even with all this methodical Scorpio in his chart he’ll just take someone out without a plan because they say the wrong thing to him. Also again, moon square mars can be dangerous if underdeveloped in a man’s chart. Lots of explosive/ab*sive tendencies.
Scorpio Stellium: he needed to work on resolving his trauma and looking inwardly to figure out his emotional insecurities before getting all tied up in his possessive and wild ways, but oops that was like good healing advice before all the stalking and m*rder began.
Beck:
Tumblr media
(My Beck section stayed empty the longest lol oh no)
Sagittarius Rising: Beck is lighthearted and fun, she likes to approach people in her life through a worldly attitude. She likes to come off as philosophical and like she’s enjoying all the little adventures in life. She puts a deal of effort into coming off as interesting. But she tends to sort of just attract abundance in her life, she has a lot of friends/romantic partners that tend to support her and her goals monetarily or otherwise.
Gemini Sun: She’s smart and vivacious. She takes pride in her writing skills and has a deep interest in “making it” as a writer. She also lies a lot, in major ways (infidelity and the death of a parent). Duplicity shows up in different ways for all Geminis but Beck has a lot of faces she shows to different people and ways she carries herself only in certain situations. Everyone knows a different version of her depending on who they are in her life. (Joe does not like this later on)
Pisces moon: (ok I changed this after I started it lol. Twice! When I tell you I struggled…) i had to refresh my memory on Beck’s emotional state oml. Ok ok I went through a few moons and I settled on Pisces moon, because she has such a fairytale/disillusionment arch with her whole season. She longs for the perfect romance and she really wants a knight in shining armor but she ends up idealizing her partners and her friends through this distorted lens and so she gets guys that are kind of douchey and has endgame with a total psycho. There’s a lot of infidelity and lies too. She wants to appear to be more magnetic and like “worldly” than she is and will often distort the truth to do so. (Her moon would square her ascendant and sun leading to identity issues) And of course Joe projects his idealized version of Beck onto her (Joe and guys like him are gonna project lol but this placement only enhances that)
(Also, Local Capricorn moon struggles to explain emotional motivations, lol that’s how it goes)
Libra Mercury: Beck writes and communicates in a creative and flowery way. She uses her words to come off as intelligent and balanced. She gets backlash from her professor for coming off as too superficial and lacking depth in her writing. She charms her way in and out of situations (until she can’t- Venus ruled meet pluto ruled). Her writing seems to align most easily with her how she thinks of herself(Sun trine Mercury).
Pisces Venus: at first I wrote this line as a joke but this is the only way I can think to explain it actually—— Beck does get very attached but also doesn’t? It’s that very specific Pisces/12th house placement vibe. Like people that are both emotionally involved and vulnerable but are like detached at the same time. Like tethered to everyone and nothing all at once. She’s sort of lost in how she identifies herself and constantly terns to be another way (I notice this quite a bit with Pisces placements). Also again she embellishes her past and lies about her present, and has a distorted view of her friends and romantic relationships that even she can’t seem to see through until the end.
Sagittarius Mars: ok for a few reasons. Beck doesn’t really have a textbook type (I feel like Sagittarius mars/Venus are less likely to have a set type and more likely to be attracted to personalities). She’s attracted to Joe when he comes off as cultured and interesting. When he gets overshadowed by her friends she starts to shrug him off. She has a passionate s*xual appetite and tends to have a few people she’s seeing at once. She also has a tinge of not like other girls energy I find to be common in Mars rising women.
Love:
Tumblr media
Libra rising: She comes across as a gentle, affable beauty. A lovely, community minded person that’s able to balance it all with her friends and her partner. She’s social, creative, and enterprising without coming off as imposing. No one sees all of that darkness she’s got bubbling beneath the surface, until she chooses to bring it out.
(As a Scorpio rising/Libra 12th house I think I subconsciously associate Libra/Venus ruled with hiding something under a very pleasant nature lol that’s my bias)
Cancer sun: she’s so invested in her family. Her ego is aligned with caring for others, especially those that are close to her in her family. She committed her first acts of violence to protect her brother (at least that’s how she tells it). She loves her son and her sibling fiercely and does the most work to keep them at ease. She uses her dark inclination in guise of protection. She’s manipulative and has fooled many people into trusting/underestimating her, by the time they realize she’s not on their side it’s too late.
Scorpio moon (conjunct Venus): she’s so in love!! Don’t betray her or she’s gonna get ya!! Fr though Love loves with her whole twisted heart, so she also feels betrayed and protects her loved ones with her whole twisted heart. Not a woman to be trifled with, (so ofc Joe trifles with her.
Pisces Mercury: I think she’s a better liar than Joe. She just constructs a truth all her own. She tells the stories she wants to because that’s exactly what she believes happened (Moon and Sun trine Mercury). Most people truly don’t see through her lies or feel the need to look through what she’s telling them
Scorpio Venus (conjunct Pluto): (I’m sorry scorpio Venus folks, I’m like trying to be cool here lol, it’s not a bad placement.) Joe and Love just both came into the relationship hot and passionate and jealous and possessive, lol. I really do think that Joe and Love mirror each other and I love how the writers handled their mad love. She takes on his problems as her problems, including k*liking anyone in Joe’s (I.e their) way. And once Joe made Love jealous, she did not hesitate to take Natalie out. So much passion and possessiveness and assuming that love in a relationship is forged through intensity and pain (their cheating, arguing, Joe’s probable emotional ab*se), definitely giving shadow Scorpio Venus being amped up 1000% by that Scorpio Pluto.
Pisces Mars: Unconventional because this is a passive aggressive placement but mutables can be m*rderous pretty commonly (I cannot tell you why lol just so many serial killer charts are peppered with mutable signs) and I’m going off of a few things. Love is in love with Joe, she falls for him when he projects being a total sentimental romantic (since Love is a femme, mars can show her type). She also cheats on Joe as she gets disillusioned. She’s usually pretty fluid even opening up their marriage to bring the sparks back. She also also does get that anger out indirectly…. through m*rder!! Lol
Candace:
Tumblr media
Leo Rising: She often attracts attention but also chases it. She’s charismatic enough to be the front man in a band and to make Beck jealous. She’s flirty and fun.
Aries Sun: Impulsive and charismatic. She clashes with people around her. She is a great frontman for her band. There’s a lot of impulsivity in how she goes after Joe (sis needed a plan and her only plan was get him lol)
Scorpio moon: feels deeply and is very protective of how she feels. she’s very invested in getting revenge on Joe (which is fair he was a shit for trying to k*ll her). If she was the protagonist of any other tale I’m sure she would’ve gotten payback. But she follows him across country to torture him herself when all else fails and nothing can be done to hold him accountable. (Also moon square rising for how at odds she was with people believing the depth of her trauma and what was done to her and how much people projected onto her.)
Scorpio Mercury: She can’t really get a lot of people to believe her, and idk but I feel like Scorpio placements are the least likely to be believed when it comes to water placements. She lies to keep her revenge plan going but she has trouble faking it and keeping up with the lies. She communicates with intensity and pointedly. She fights to try to reveal the truth (unfortunately it doesn’t work out great).
Sagittarius Venus: she actually is pretty worldly and very charming. She’s enthusiastic in her relationships, but rarely in love. Pretty untethered in that we’re not really dating we’re just having fun sagittarius Venus sort of way. She cheats on Joe because she’s not serious about him. She gets mad and tries to leave when Joe gets too possessive and controlling of her of her.
Scorpio Mars: this was hard, I feel like I got everything else easy. I’m going with Scorpio mars because she was very much into revenge before reason. She went out of her way to try to expose Joe instead of just calling the cops when she had the upper hand and it backfired. She’s also protective in her quest for truth. At the heart of her revenge motives, she’s concerned that Joe is going to hurt other people. She also was attracted to Joe’s passion and intensity and how much of a romantic he seemed to be. (She got tired of him and went to someone more connected)
Marienne:
Tumblr media
(Omg poor Marienne right?? Christ, just minding her own business and pulled into mess…)
Scorpio Rising: She’s very alluring and has a kind of dark tinge to her appearance. She’s very perceptive and will call out someone out if they’re faking any behavior around her. She’s able to sense when something’s off with other people.
Virgo Sun: Marienne, for all her troubles, she works to stay grounded. She makes sure she does better for the sake of her daughter and her future. She bounces back through constant adversity and holds down a structured, healthy, and supportive routine. One of her big journeys in life seems to deal with her aligning her head and her heart (sun opposition moon).
Pisces Moon: She’s emotionally in tuned to her daughter and creates a loving environment for her. She’s very creative as well and her heart is in her work. She has struggled with addiction and keeps clean out of efforts to make a better life for her and her daughter. She has a lot of men lie to her and project onto her and deceive her in an effort to get close to her.
Virgo Mercury: intelligent and capable. When Joe is out of his depth on missing white woman syndrome (immediately, he’s out of his depth immediately lol) she swiftly corrects him.
Taurus Venus (trine Mercury): charming with her words. She writes and illustrates story books. Most people are attracted by her creativity and her calm nature.
Gemini Mars (square moon): just attracting (and unconsciously being attracted to) very duplicitous men. Both Joe and her ex try/tried to come off as intellectual and rational to get close to her before their ab*sive sides came out. She also fights her battles with her wits and knows how much to say and when to say it in dangerous situations.
*bonus: strong Lilith placements- Lilith conjunction/square/opposition 1st or 7th or 10th house (maybe in virgo): I’m totally becoming the Lilith lady lol, but nothing explains guys getting *weird* like Lilith does. Marienne has to have a significant Lilith placement in her chart. Her ab*sive ex husband trying to destroy her life unless she submits to him, but then Joe comes in to save her. Oops he’s actually obsessed with her and he travels across the ocean to track her down (he’s Joe, but even this is a lot for him) and he refuses to accept how desperately he’s trying to chain her to him to the point where Joe’s personality literally splits so he can keep Marienne under lock and key? Marienne already knew, in that exhausted way, that she had to make herself truly inaccessible in order to escape this obsession. It’s giving strong Lilith and bringing out the worst in bad guys.
Kate:
Tumblr media
Capricorn Rising: She really seems to have her shit together and she takes no bs from anyone. And her dad is super rich so she grew up in luxury.
Pisces Sun: I said Aries before because she really didn’t like Joe and let him know it in the beginning. But I say Pisces because she seems to mirror some element of her environment. I had a friend say that since Pisces were the last zodiac sign they tended to be able to embody a lot of traits of other signs. I also have noticed that Pisces placements tend to have personalities that are mailable to the people around them. Kate acts different around her cultivated group of friends and her dad for example. Yet it runs so deep that she seems to have a different set of morals around different groups as well.
Aquarius Moon: Shes a bit…detached. She poisoned a bunch of kids and saw it as a means to an end, then she remade herself into a humanitarian to atone for her sins. But she’s fallen for Joe after he’s done some pretty inhumane things to “save” her. And now she’s perfectly happy to clean Joe’s record and take over her dad’s evil company. she’s pretty apt to take on her own morality and that reminds me of underdeveloped Aquarius moons. This is no shade to Saturn moons (I’m a Saturn moon too) but there’s something emotionally lacking from her lack of horror at finding out her boyfriend is a serial m*rderer and a bunch of the other wild sh*t she surrounds herself with. I thought about Capricorn moon but I couldn’t find any structure/career climbing in her overall actions. Aquarius seemed to fit better, especially with how at one point she really prided herself on being the most morally aware of her friends and saw her involvement in the arts as such a benevolent thing.
(Also lowkey I feel like a Capricorn moon would’ve sensed if their parents were pulling strings for them and wouldn’t be down with how randomly m*rderous Joe could be. Not the moral issue, not in this show, but the not knowing who he’s going to k*ll next issue— just like Kate’s dad ran into)
Mercury Capricorn: She communicates in a directly to the point sort of way. She’s verbally sharp and sort of pokes at Joe no matter how she feels about him. She tends to tell her friends how to hey their shit together.
Gemini Venus: She’s very clever and witty and all of her flirting/foreplay is bantering and screwing with Joe’s head by baiting him. She also knows all of her friends’ secrets.(is that an astrology observation?) Gemini placements tend to have a knack for getting information out of people)
Virgo Mars: Actually seems to go from annoyed by to attracted to Joe when he’s coming in to help her. She also is corrective when she’s upset. She handles her upsetting emotions in strategic way until she’s cornered.
Bonus - Rhys (major season 4 spoiler):
Tumblr media
(He was basically Joe’s love in the latest season— bc he loves himself!! But the real Rhys…Poor guy! Oml)
I have no idea bc he was an hallucination for 98%(??) of his screen time lol, but at minimum I’d say Capricorn Neptune in the 1st house. He came across as knowledgeable and in control and very ambitious. A lot of people related to his life story as he told it, a story of rags to riches… and he had a terrible stalker that projected a completely different personality onto him. And that’s all I got for the real Rhys.

There's a lot of ambiguity present in DDLC, and although + does elaborate on a lot of it, it presents some new ambiguity, too. I've already discussed the Protagonist and his entire existence, but I think something people don't even really think about is Natsuki's home life.
In case that doesn't make it obvious, CW: this mini-essay is going to talk a lot about abuse. Take care of yourselves.
Within the original Doki Doki Literature Club, there's an inherent uncertainty in the actual degree to which Monika is personally manipulating the other girls. It's somewhat unclear whether or not Monika is directly manufacturing unappealing traits to give to everyone else, or if she's just exaggerating problems that were already there to the point of catastrophe. In other words, it's unclear as to exactly how much of the game from its outset was something which would happen naturally, or an element of Monika's manipulation.
I think that Plus simultaneously plays into this ambiguity and clarifies a lot of it. There are definitely gray areas left, but the Side Stories in particular answer a lot of questions.
I think what the Side Stories are intent on doing is showcasing all of the girls as characters independent of any potential 4th wall/Monika meddling, and it answers a lot of questions regarding the true depth of each of the girls independent of that manipulation. This includes Monika, actually, and I think what it displays is that Monika's manipulation is far reaching, but she worked with material which was already there.
I've already discussed how the Protagonist is implied to exist within the Side Stories, but vitally, the Side Stories indicate the raw personality (and problems, motivations, etc) of every one of the girls. This includes Monika, and I think makes for a very interesting character study for how Monika became who she is in the main game. That's something I played with a good bit in Coil, if you haven't read it. Monika isn't aware she's being watched and in fact isn't aware of any of the nature of her reality, and thusly puts significantly more of who she actually is as a flawed person on display.
I'm digressing, but only a little bit. Something else this clarifies is the question I asked earlier regarding whether or not Monika was explicitly adding negative traits to the other girls, though it isn't an exact answer: Sayori does have a lot of the same mental health issues displayed in the main game, though clearly not to the same degree. Yuri clearly demonstrates a more obsessive personality, but it's in more of an autistic hyperfixation "I am incredibly passionate about my interests and will talk about them for hours if you don't shut me up" kind of way. I think there's definitely still some factors which are up in the air about Yuri (knives...that's all I'll say), but I think it's clear to see the basis of what was done to her here.
And Natsuki is, well...still pretty ambiguous.
I should be clear; Natsuki's raw personality is still very readily apparent here, and it does do a great deal of exploration of her character, showcasing the real depth of who she is and why she acts the way she does, but there is one critical question which isn't explicitly referred to.
The obvious thing you're thinking of, probably because I mentioned it at the start. Any reference to Natsuki's home life is absent, and it was all I could think about throughout the entirety of her story.
What it's instead "replaced" by in this instance is bullying from a toxic group of mean girls esque "friends". I put replaced in quotes because they are clearly what the emphasis is placed on in lieu of an explicitly bad home life, but I'm not sure I'd call them a one to one replacement. (I put friends in quotes, because...well.)
To be more specific, I'm not sure they're a replacement at all. I think what they are is more a suggestion of deeper issues Natsuki has.
I think Natsuki's behavior and overall attitude when talking about her other friends is very telling with regards to how she views relationships in general. Her immediate knee-jerk reaction whenever anyone says anything negative about them is to, in the first place, minimize anything they did or said as "just playing around", or "making fun of something stupid". Her next response is to immediately place the blame on herself for being so sensitive.
The way she immediately seeks to dismiss and push off any attempts to address any issues with how her friends treat her is heart-wrenching, and constantly blaming herself for responding poorly is doubly so. I think it's also behavior we'd commonly expect of people undergoing abuse, and I'll be frank in saying that I think that her relationship with these people isn't just toxic, it's outright emotionally abusive.
But being in one destructive relationship doesn't necessarily mean she's in another, does it? What is it about this entire situation in particular that leads me to believe there's something deeper here?
It's maybe a little bit of a stretch, but follow me here.
I think Natsuki demonstrates that she is attached to these people, despite their actions toward her. Her immediate defense of their actions, the particular way she chooses to defend them, and her intense fear to even the prospect of cutting them off tell me she doesn't want to let them go. Even further, I'd say her immediate response being to defend them when others attack them is multifaceted, and I think that one of those facets is that someone pointing out how her friends shouldn't treat her that way is probably giving voice to a feeling Natsuki herself has. I think one of the reasons she's so quick to defend them is in order to suppress her own urge to say something.
But why is she so hesitant to say something in the first place?
She doesn't want them to leave her.
This is something which, on the surface, might sound a little strange, but I think more than anything else, greater than any fear of the abuse she might endure at the hands of these heartless weirdos, is a crippling fear of being alone.
There are various things I think underline this trait, big and small (I mean, she outright brings it up when she talks about cutting them off), but I think her entire attitude regarding her friends is representative of someone who desperately wants attention from someone, anyone, whether positive or not. The reason she places all of the blame on herself and defends all of their actions is because she thinks if she brings it up at all, they won't want to hang out with her anymore. She's the problem, because she can't bring herself to put up with it, but she doesn't want them to leave her.
And I think that this, in conjunction with a lot of other elements to her personality, indicate that Natsuki likely doesn't have a very kind home life, either.
I think the biggest thing that illustrates this to me is her sheer willingness to treat the entire situation as normal. To everybody else looking at Natsuki's situation from the outside, particularly as she describes and defends a variety of their actions, it's blatantly obvious what's happening, and Natsuki finds herself confused not only over how other people respond, but how she herself feels.
The amount of time she spends excusing the emotional torment they put her through, and her constant insistence that this is normal, and that she's perfectly fine, she just needs to grow a thicker skin, demonstrate to me that Natsuki doesn't really have a good concept of what "normal" is. I don't think this is all just a conscious denial of reality; I think she genuinely has trouble understanding what's wrong with the situation, beyond that they're acting mean towards her.
"It's just the way things are!"
"I'm the only one who ever has a problem with it."
I think her ready ability to normalize this kind of abuse speaks volumes to how she views relationships in general. I think this is indicative that she doesn't have many good models for what a "normal", healthy relationship would be.
I think that a lot of Natsuki's broader personality, particularly in how she responds to the situation with her friends, and Monika and Sayori's attempts to connect with her, is a pretty fair indication that she doesn't really have a good space outside of her interactions with people at school.
I'm, rather ironically, finding it increasingly difficult to really express everything which showcases it to me in a way which all fits together nicely, but I think if nothing else, that's the point I really want to drive home. It really seems to me based on the way that Natsuki acts that at the very least, she doesn't have a good, safe space at home.
If she did, she would have a much better point of reference for all of this, and I don't think she would be so quick to trap herself in this situation. I think that a big reason she turns to the Literature Club and is so insistent on trying to be friends with everybody in it, despite herself, despite all of the problems and conflicts they have, is because she's desperately searching for a safe place where she can just be herself.
I think she constantly feels like she needs to be on the defensive--in my opinion, a big part of why she finds it so hard to just be nice, outside of something simple like baking for other people, is because her only experience is other people being mean to her, and needing to make a biting comment back. I think that's also why it's so difficult for her to accept others being kind to her: She is so used to just shutting out other people and ignoring them because they're mean to her, that when someone is nice to her, despite her desire to accept it and return it in kind, she instinctively snaps at it, because if she lets anyone in, if she shows any sign of vulnerability, someone will hurt her. Maybe she'll have to admit that the other things people said hurt her, too.
It's like a feral kitten instinctively clawing and biting at the hand of someone just trying to pet it. It's so unusual to them that someone could touch them for any reason other than to hurt them that they feel the need to strike first, until they eventually realize there's nothing to be afraid of.
I think that all of this, in conjunction with how everything else in the Side Stories is presented in reference to the original game, suggest that Natsuki likely doesn't have a very good situation at home.
I think it's vitally important to acknowledge that most people's perception of Natsuki's home life, if it's at all fleshed out, is based on fanon, not canon, similarly to how this whole analysis is really just fan theorizing, and not necessarily 100% accurate. While there are certainly some things explicitly said in the main game, we don't know all of the particulars which go into her home life, and I think this is another example of intentional gaps left by canon that I talked about in my blurb on the Protagonist.
In this case, from what we're able to glean about Natsuki's home, her father is the main parental figure in her life (At the very least, there is no mention of her mother {to my knowledge, it's been a while since I played it}), and from Act 1, he's implied to be extremely strict. Details here are actually one of the reasons I assume this to be correct, because explicitly, Natsuki keeps her manga collection in the clubroom because she doesn't want her dad to find it. In Act 2, this is pushed even further, which is where we get a certain famous line about him physically abusing her, but of course, it's more likely that this is Monika's doing.
I think it's virtually impossible to get an actual understanding of Natsuki's home situation in the Side Stories, because...well, they don't bring it up, but I think it's safe to say that there is reason to believe it's not good. I think it isn't as bad as it is in Act 2, but judging by how things play out in Natsuki's story across the Side Stories...well, let's just say I'm glad she has the Literature Club.
I think excluding any mention of this is probably intentional too, and not because it's an intentional gap being left. I think it would be incredibly out of character based on what we've seen of Natsuki here for her to bring it up at all, both because of her warped sense of normal, and because she wouldn't want everybody around her worrying about it.
This is a subject for fanfiction, I think. Is that foreshadowing? Who knows.

A Defense of Maglor
Maglor is my favorite character in the Silmarillion. I know there are people out there who loathe him and there are people out there who love him. I know he murdered, that is a fact. There is also the undeniable fact that he chose to take the oath and burn the ships. There is the fact that he was deathly loyal towards his family.
But I have to say this...
Whoever says that he turned around and became self righteous or delusional, clearly didn't read The Silmarillion as how it ought to be read. These are pretty darn bold words but the reason I like Maglor's character is because of two things.
1: He is fictional. I think if you use his name alone, you can misconstrued him subconsciously into a real life person (but I am going to use his name because saying ‘Maglor’s character over and over drives me nuts) the point is, this essay is about CHARACTER not a real person.
2. He raised Elrond into the elf we see/read in The Lord of The Rings. I'm pretty sure if Elrond was abused in any way by him, he would not be the same great elf lord. Not to mention Elros was a mighty and gentle king, as if I don't know who THAT'S reflecting.
3. He was the only son of Feanor to throw away a silmaril, and regret sorrowfully (now tell me if he is so 'self righteous' or 'delusional', why is he so sorrowful and regretful canonically?)
I had to say these things because Maglor hate makes me physically nauseous (and for pete's sake, I'm exaggerating). Now, you may think I am a hypocrite for taking one's perspective alone on a character so seriously. But I am a self made writer myself; I am not trying to force my opinion on anyone. But when someone misunderstands a character from how they themselves view them instead of seeing the character the the author intended to write, that bugs me greatly.
And yeah yeah, there are people out there who just don’t care and writer whatever that heck they want due to their fanon ideas….
Why don’t you go and write about your own character from those ideas and create your own story instead of leeching off from a famous author?
I like Maglor because the way Tolkien rewrote several drafts of the silmarillion to create characters into the way he saw them.
Maglor is not perfect, he is morally ambiguous at best and evil at worst, but who was the one who saw the Star of Earendil and had hope? The fact that he's not a perfect character or the 'good' or 'nice' son of Feanor is the reason I like him so much. Tolkien did say he inherited his mother’s more gentle temperament. Again, an ignored fact in canon.
At least I am not one of the greater hypocrites who gives his good traits to Maedhros and Maedhros's bad traits to Maglor. Is it because Maedhros is hot? You can be honest with yourselves. Everyone wants to find excuses for the handsome ones.
I don't find excuses for Maglor. Whether anyone in this site wants to admit it or not, finding excuses for a morally ambiguous character is a toxic trait. It is not a healthy way to go through life.
That being said…
Who has ever thought of the idea that Maglor's soul was ripped apart when he realized he was the enemy all along?
Tolkien was a Catholic first and foremost. I believe that when he wrote that Maglor could not withstand the pain of the silmaril, he meant the great spiritual pain of his soul being torn apart by the guilt and regret.
((I also have a headcanon that his body became a husk afterward and did eventually fade, it was like in a catatonic state where he could only walk and sing. Also, that you can hear his voice along the cliff sides or caverns of the beaches, he was known as the mighty singer, it's not because he's still around, but because of the eternal echoes that still haunt the beaches.) I like solid explanations before anything too abstract.)
Also, another thing. Who the heck thinks they themselves are self righteous enough to decide whether to forgive the feanorians or not? They are FICTIONAL. And besides, that's the Teleri's job. If someone asked me whether or not I would look Maglor in the eyes and forgive him. I would tell that person that I had no right because it was not my business. Some people hate Maglor/the feanorians so much to the point where you would wonder if they actually believe that they were personally effect by the feanorians. If you’re one of those people, please either get some therapy or touch some grass (I’m trying to be as gentle as possible so forgive me if I offended you).
The reason I like Maglor, it's actually a pretty deep and personal reason. But, who cares, it's not like he's real or that anyone else on this site cares about self preservation or privacy.
I read the Silmarillion during a darkplace in my life. So when I read about a character who was loyal, merciful, imperfect, ruthless, and regretful... I admired him. Someone who gave up his morals to protect and serve his family, that is admirable. Though his loyalty should have been with his morals, it was still fierce and bright like any son of feanor, or any more so than any of his brothers.
I like him, because he taught me what you should do in times of hardship and crisis and what you should not do, which is basically what I was going through during that time, and even now. That is, despite circumstances, remain hardy and stick to your morals because doing so will give you a prosperous ‘harvest’. Stay close to your family with loyalty and charity, but be wary of the family members who use or manipulate you, get out of that kind of situation. Like imagine you have a ‘Fëanor’ parent. Would you rather live with him or your ‘Nerdanel’ parent? Make a better choice than the choose of those seven brothers. They chose wrong and it lead to their deaths.
Tolkien wrote stories to create, and to teach. I don't see why I should ignore these values instead of appreciating and learning from them. It's the reason why I prefer to look at Maglor's character and learn from him rather than hate or search for reasons to hate him.

Yandere VK headcanons P1
The core four take over auradon! tw: kidnapping, obsessive behaviors, ddlg themes, the VKs taking over auradon, manipulation, abuse
im going through a fase leave me alone
Mal: Manipulative to the point where you don’t know yourself anymore, she convinces you that your evil, if you get second thoughts or if your a royal then she happily reminds you how terrible you are. Shes content with breaking you down and then building you up to her expectation, on the bright side, you wont even notice. And soon enough you'll be living whatever life Mal wants you to even if it never appealed to you before. She wont kidnap you because she doesn't have to, she can fit every piece of the puzzle in even if she has to replace some pieces; You wont have to worry about friends or family when she replaces them with the VKs.
Jay: He's a sadist in a playful way, holding things above your head, scaring you with fake(or real) bugs, he acts a lot like an older brother before he shows romantic interest. Eventually the mocking becomes a bit much, and maybe you even resent him but he doesn't mind all too much; the world goes on along with the bullying, until it becomes lesser and you find yourself missing the occasional comment. Soon you feel better about yourself, and it catches you off guard when Jay asks you out you know better than to say no to him so you accept with a shy smile, hoping he would reveal it was all a prank. But it doesn't happen, and the days roll on with more toxic traits of his showing, its much too late by the time coronation hits, and he decides his pretty little damsel is much too soft to deal with the hardships auradon will face. He wont lock you up in a tower, he makes sure he keeps you hidden away in some castle on campus, boredom will be your best friend as he grows more and more scared of your gentleness being exploited, but you get pretty much anything you ask for (except to see your old friends, he doesn't like them so neither should you).
Carlos: Hes a softer guy, you wont even know he likes you until the day of the coronation. You wont have a chance to reject him once its over, but hes a little hurt at your hesitation, when you end up in a castle with all the other VKs darlings then youll understand why he just has to do this! You wouldnt last a day on the isle let alone in the new version of auradon, in all the panic nobody notices when Carlos slinks off with you in his arms, dropping you in a limo filled with the other darlings who are all handcuffed or tied with ropes on their legs and arms. The VKs pile in the limo with Carlos dropping them all off at the dorms in Auradon Prep, all of them being in the same room with all the exits locked and with corners of the room dedicated to each, eventually everyone loses hope and settles down in their corners while eating the food left for them. Soon enough the VKs enter and let everyone know that they succeeded in their plan with their parents wreaking havoc on innocent heroes outside, the cheerfulness they have won’t match the sobbing or fighting of the rest of the room, Some darlings who were likely picked for their feistier nature like Jays darling will fight and scratch at him while screaming all manners of insults. Carlos approaches you slowly with a smile on his face as you huddle in the corner trembling like a leaf in a storm even when he tries not to startle you, he grabs your arm and brings you over to a comfortable dorm which he quickly leaves in fear of making you become aggressive, he’s just so happy to have you and he knows one day you’ll be happy to have him too
Evie: She probably tugs on your heartstrings, making sure you want her even more than she wants you. But you really didn’t expect her to kiss you under the bleachers the day of the coronation let alone ask you to be her date to it, and it surprises you even more when chaos breaks out and she comes looking for you?! She's even more gentle than carlos, believing you are her true love, made just for her to enjoy after all she went through on the isle but her patience isnt an endless virtue even after all those years of seeming to wait for a prince to take advantage of, and when her patience does run out, there is nothing you will be able to do to calm the storm

Hey and yay, finally some deserved attention to FMA x"D Can we get some general HCs for Kimblee from both versions? Would be here much differences?
Sure.
Tw: Yandere themes, unhealthy mindset, unhealthy relationship, possessive behavior, obsession, violence, manipulation, blackmailing, stalking, intimidation, abduction, death
Yandere Solf J. Kimblee Hc's
Tumblr media
💥Let's start with the 2003 version which is undoubtly the far more sadistic and psychotic version of him. Surely he knows that pretty much all of his actions and just as much as his obsession are perceived as immoral at best and as a cruel crime at worst but he does not care at all. He's some sort of nihilist and believes therefore that everyone is worthless which probably makes it easier for him to kill as a byproduct. With that mindset he's sure to hit a wall when he gains his nasty obsession with his darling since it goes against this belief of his. You should be worthless too, just like everyone else yet you mean far too much for Kimblee, something that angers him yet secretly also thrills him. You fascinate him as your very existence actively defies what he stands for and it makes him quite possessive over you but as a twisted individual also rather sadistic and intimidating. He has no problem to threaten you and those you love if it helps you to submit to him.
💥The 2009 version shares some traits such as his awareness, his possessive side and also his nihilism which leads him also to the simultanous anger and excitement because of you. This Kimblee isn't as aggressive though as he stays for a while as an inquisitive stalker of yours simply to figure you out a bit better. He's a good analyzer of human nature even with his sadistic behavior at times, you'd be surprised if you'd know. Everything seems quite normal at first even as he approaches you very normally at first. Whilst he still doesn't care about the fact that his whole obsession is wrong and toxic, he isn't as driven by his possessive and angry side and genuinely wants to know you better and observe you even closer. He's cool and well-behaved. He's philosophical but knows to shroud his real view behind clever statements. A very skilled manipulator behind the scenes as he's perceptive and knows how to use any information he receives from you or those around you to his own advantage.
💥Considering the 2003 version of him as the more psychotic and openly sadistic one, stirring jealousy up inside of Kimblee is a fault that will prove itself to be rather fatal sooner than later. His possessiveness is the worst there is as there's truly no one he'll allow near you. Now, he's aware that he can easily just blow away anyone there is so rather than jealousy, it's more the overall displeasure of catching you being nice and friendly to others that provokes him more than anything and he's definitely not scared to let part of his ire out on you too and warn you to dwindle down your social contacts. The 2009 version is more patient, knows how to hold back which of course doesn't mean that one should let their guard down around him. He's merely mastered the art of hiding his ugle side behind a mannerly facade. Kimblee here is still quite possessive over you and so he obviously can't have anyone else trying to whisk you away from him. For now he won't slip up in front of you though so it's all about the murderous glares, the occasional threats and even a few private chats.
💥Both versions have been shown to be sadistic in a way and share a nihilistic view although there's still a differing. The 2003 Kimblee is undeniably still the worst to have since he genuinely enjoys killing and seeing blood and for that has little to no filter who he murders because of you. The sadistic behavior extends to you as well as he torments you with the people who lost their lives because of him in order to push you into submission and just in general to see you in despair. The 2009 Kimblee is less immoral than the other version, sees his explosions as art and seeks to refine his Alchemy to the highest level, humans are more than often just unfortunate byproducts for him to hone the beauty of his explosions. So he doesn't just kill aimlessly for the fun of it but for a reason, a possessive and petty one surely, but he won't kill unless someone has given him a reason. He's certainly slipping up with his sadistic tendencies when he has someone cornered and reveals his more psychotic side but he's considerably less messy than the 2003 Kimblee.
💥Abduction will happen in both cases although by now you can pretty much already guess which version will do that step faster. The 2003 version overall is just more interested in keeping his darling, keeping the very person that went against his nihilistic outlook on the world and made him fall into the pit of obsession and therefore kidnaps his s/o in an early state, not afraid to hide his psychotic and obsessed personality. The 2009 Kimblee gets to know you better at first simply because you interest him and since he knows that you wouldn't be able to act that carefree and open around him if you were to know how he really ticks. His possessive side gets the better of him eventually though but his approach in kidnapping you and how he goes about it is more devised. Shortly before you pass out, he even openly admits how he truly feels about you and everything he has committed so far. He works as a special agent and uses that to his advantage to ask for a few favors. He needs after all a safe and isolated place for you to stay when he's away to take care of some business.
💥Overall the 2003 version is the one you'd rather not have. He's not ashamed to expose all his sadistic and psychotic behavior to you and is prone to punishing you if you anger him or don't do as he says as he wishes to establish his dominance and control over you from a very early point on. He's rather mean to top it all and pokes you with his words in all the wrong ways. That isn't to say that he can't show better behavior at times but he seems to be more open with his own insanity and like the type to act out more on his own pleasure more than anything. The 2009 Kimblee obviously won't be soft either as he will also punish his darling if they do something that they shouldn't have done. He's more considerate though as he bears some understanding for the situation you are in and gives you your privacy, only if you behave well though. Honestly, if things go well on some days the relationship between you two almost seems normal whilst with the older version there would always be this feeling of unease and fear.

Let's talk about Azula and redemption arcs...
There's a lot of discussion in the fandom regarding this topic—much of it argumentative and even toxic at times.
But what I don't see talked about is how—whether Azula is redeemed or remains a villain—both options are valid storytelling choices that are entirely dependent on the circumstances the storytellers inflict on her.
I'm referring mainly to fanfiction here, but let's talk for a moment about the upcoming Azula comic, which has promised 'a chance at redemption' for her. That's no guarantee, but it's a tantalizing hint that the creators wish this fate for her.
If I'm being honest, I don't have a whole lot of faith in it, and not because I'm too firmly in one camp or the other. It's because the bar is SO high already. Zuko's redemption arc is widely considered The Best Ever, and that's largely because of how much time and attention it was given, spanning three seasons and nearly a year in-universe. He had triumphs and failures, baby steps forward and backslides. He had a mentor that truly cared, and he had empathetic enemies. But most importantly, he was given an actual desire to become a better person and fix his mistakes.
I really don't believe that kind of depth is possible in a single comic. While I've enjoyed most of the comics for what they are, they generally lack the length to really dig deep. If Azula's possible comic redemption is anything like Kuvira's—which was rushed, painfully shallow, and didn't give nearly enough attention to the horrors and betrayal she inflicted on those that cared about her—I think it will disappoint most fans.
[But Ruins of the Empire is a topic for another day.]
Really, this isn't about whether or not Azula gets a redemption arc in canon. It's not even about whether or not she deserves one. It's about the fact that there are two opposing sides who can't seem to shake hands and say, 'Your take is valid and I respect it.'
The fact is that she is a deliciously complex character with traits that allow for incredible stories on either path.
She's a bloodthirsty, remorseless killer who is ALMOST entirely lacking in empathy. (I say 'almost' because there are a few hints that there's a spark of that in there somewhere, though it's overruled by other things). She also displays narcissistic tendencies and is skilled at manipulating the people around her to her own benefit.
But...it's pretty clear that she was groomed by her father to be the way she is, including her belief that her mother didn't love her. She also seems quite capable of forming bonds with people, and displays agitation when she is abandoned by them.
So. All of this tells me that what Azula needs is a reason to change—some kind of catalyst that will break her down to the point at which she surrenders and has a real, honest desire to atone for her many, many atrocities. It would be cool to see a complex, well-thought-out story that does this.
On the other hand, Azula is an awesome villain. We (sort of) know why she is the way she is and we know that she delights in causing others pain. Realistically, many 'bad' people never mend their ways. They go their whole lives seeing themselves as the victim, refusing to take accountability for their actions, and continuing down a path of self-destruction. It's horribly tragic and it's life, and I think writers have every right to tell that story with her.
This diatribe was longer than expected. TLDR: Azula could have a cool redemption. Or not. Fanfic writers, do what you want and don't let the naysayers bring you down.

Hi!! It's @early20sfailingplenty here to ask if you'd pleaseeee elaborate on your tag "bo is the softest sinclair" ??? I can't stop thinking about it and I wanna askkkk because I'm super curious hasdfghjkl you don't have to if you don't want to!!!🥺🥺🥺
Thanks for this ask, sweets! Also this got waaaay longer than expected. 😅
So in reference to my tags on Bo in this post. Many fanon works paint Bo as the dangerous, aggressive, toxic Sinclair. And while he's a sick bastard (cause like they all are for murdering people for years lmao) after a bunch of rewatches of House of Wax (2005) I don't know where that interpretation comes from.
I read so many fanfics prior to even watching the movie and so I was full on board with Vinny as the uwu soft twin train. Lester has never appealed to me in any way shape or form, but fanfics generally portray him as the really sweet kinda neglected and forgotten brother.
Through my massive hyper fixation in the movie and doing all those rewatches for ridiculous analysis that no one asked for I observed Lester being pretty lecherous with Carly. Both when at the carrion pit when she was changing her shirt and also while they were in the truck (if memory serves.) I also don't find Les attractive, even ignoring his lack of personal hygiene so like there's maybe some of my bias there. Not caring to read more into him cause of the initial creep factor and that he doesn't get much air time. I do appreciate his carving artistry though!
In Vinny I saw waaaay more sadistic and predatory nature than Bo. Also he's officially the more dangerous Sinclair since Bo couldn't even manage to kill Carly and Nick with a freakin shotgun at close range 😂 smdh
I think I've highlighted in other posts some of these instances but please feel free to send another ask for me to talk about them again! I miss talkin about these boys.
Anywho, outside Bo's outburst at Vinny in the kitchen, he doesn't show that much anger and such. And even then he had a crossbow bolt in his shoulder and had been outwitted by their victims like 3 times at that point. (again he's so bad at his 'job' 😂) Vinny straight up ignores that outburst anyway and Bo immediately starts soothing the situation. Apologizing and trying to reconnect through talkin bout the family legacy.
I'll also say that for almost half the movie Bo is in 'actor' mode. Puttin on the charm to manipulate the group. I was honestly surprised how long he kept it up even when Carly had locked him outta the truck. And while it could be seen as some fucked up sexual and power fantasy thing, after duck taping Carly to the chair he shhhhs her all gentle and keeps his voice soft. Even when gluing her mouth shut.
I also have the hc that Bo is hella susceptible to anyone showing him kindness--usually a trait that people ascribe to Vinny in fanon-- because he was the neglected and abused son. Like fair to say they all are violent (they are murders of many people) but I feel like he's always characterized as this extra broody, mean/grumpy alcoholic, which when I watch the movie he's not really any of that.
So yeah, while I do love the grumpy broody Bo trait, I think he's real touch/attention/love starved and would be hella fuckin soft with someone he loves. I've headcannoned that he doesn't like being that way around his brothers but I think that's fanon too now that I'm typing this all out.
Much of this could be considered conjecture cause they spent way too much time on the college kids when they should've just focused on the brothers and Paige then being the final girl (still bitter) but yep. That's why I think he's a softy. 🥰

hi hello!
I looked at this blog and I am super interested I am looking politely. Anyways. What do the elements entail? What're the specific abilities/notes you have for them? just curious SORRY
No need to be sorry!
Anyway, this world is probably gonna go through a major rehaul, so don’t get too used to any of these concepts.
I’ll put them under the cut, cause this is gonna get long.
Fire monsters are lizard dudes who can breathe fire and exude heat. They can only eat meat.
Sound monsters kinda look like tropical birds from the neck up, but their bodies are humanoid and they have dinosaury tails. They like to sing and have the most advanced medical technology.
Toxic monsters look like snakes and have arms, but no legs. Their septic bite is deadly to all other monsters. They eat venomous plants, mostly, so it’s unknown where the stereotype of them chowing down on grandma when they get a bit peckish comes from.
Psychic monsters look a bit like cats with red gems in their foreheads and can read minds and see into the future if they’re born under the moons. They used to live on a volcanic island (the volcano’s smoke blocked out the sky) until they moved to the rainforest.
Metal monsters look like little gray drakes with sharp claws, frills, and tail blades. They eat metal because it strengthens their scales. They’re known for being anti-social due to them being naturally solitary.
Plant monsters look kinda like six-limbed jaguars with rainbowy fur. Their tails are prehensile and they can hang from trees, but it’s not the most comfortable. They only eat plants.
Air monsters look like Utahraptors with more flight-able wings. They can’t hover or perform complex flying tricks because their bodies are too heavy. It’s said that half of all of them are gray, chatty, and huge people pleasers. Apparently, the other half is brown, chatty, and huge people pleasers. It used to be canon that they didn’t eat birds because they could talk to them, but not anymore.
Electric monsters look like little velociraptors and like to run. They can fire electricity from their mouths. It used to be thought that they were just loners, but it’s a known part of their culture now that they just go on long solitary trips that can last for weeks, sometimes up to a month.
Crystal monsters look like ceratopsians with rocks for horns. They’re named after whichever gemstone they eat first, as their horns will grow with its color and texture. Other than minerals, they also eat underground-dwelling moles, bugs, mushrooms, and fish.
Earth monsters have the heads of ceratopsians, and the bodies of lions. They have designated “breeding nights” once a month, as they’re not raised by their parents, but their siblings instead. They lay 3-6 eggs at a time. Romance isn’t really a thing in their culture, so they’re often dumbstruck when they realize that it’s real and not something that other species invented to write saucy books.
Ice monsters are pretty much anatomically identical to polar bears other than that they have blue manes that run down to their long tails. They’re fancy and have a class system that updates every month, which determines how “useful” you are to their society.
Water monsters are “cetacean mermaids”. From the hips down, they have normal cetacean bodies, but above that, they have humanoid bodies with cetacean heads and narwhal horns on their foreheads. It used to be canon that they didn’t eat fish because they could talk to them, but not anymore.
Light monsters look like fuzzy critters with any combination of “cute” traits (floppy ears, fluffy tails, short snouts, etc). Their queen, with the help of a book and an evil plant, colonized their entire continent, which is different than the one the previous 12 live on. They cut down all the trees, killed off the Dark monsters, and integrated the Faeries as second class citizens.
Faerie monsters are kinda bird and kinda bug. They start off as birds with talon-hands in place of wings, then they go through a month-long metamorphosis in at age 12 or so, which is when they get the cool butterfly wings on their backs. In Light monster society, they don’t get to choose their jobs, and if they’re born able to spin a special kind of silk, they’re sent off to textile mills where they spin it and are only let out to breed and create more special silk spinners.
Dark monsters look like any kind of theropod, with dark blue feathers all over their bodies aside from their hands, feet, and face regardless of which they resemble the most. They were pushed off into a corner of their continent, a place which is now known as the Dark Forest. They’ve been conspiring to overthrow Queen Shining (queen of the Light monsters) ever since she drove them out.
And that’s the last of the monsters! There’s critters too, if you care to read on them.
Trolls look like ugly cute little fuzzy guys with big noses and ears. Their opposable fingers allow them to learn various tricks and even to be service animals.
Goblins look like upright standing, green-skinned pig things that live in the forest and like to steal whatever catches their eyes, which is most often shiny things and treasure (bonus points if it belonged to a monster). Their tails are also absurdly long, which can seem like an evolutionary disadvantage since that’s how they so often get preyed upon.
Orcs, for lack of a better comparison, look like Moblins from Breath of the Wild specifically, other than that they have green skin, a slightly more stocky build, tusks, and a less disproportionate arm:leg ratio. Orcs know how to use tree branches as weapons and that they can tie rocks and bones to them to make them more effective. Troops of them go to war just about every day, and it’s unknown if that thing about them eating rivals’ babies is true or not.
Ogres resemble large theropods, but they stand more upright and have way longer arms which reach down to their hips. They are extremely rare, so it’s unknown if they even exist. They apparently live in far-off, remote caves and only come out when they’re starving.
Rocs are giant, beautiful birds of paradise with colorful tails and head feathers. Both sexes show off to attract each other.
Unicorns are decidedly more majestic and pretty than monokeros, for some reason. No one exactly knows what their horns are for, since it would be less than practical to fight with them as they jut straight out of their heads. Unicorns live in large herds and run around, going wherever the wind takes them.
Monokeros are related to unicorns, despite not really resembling them. They have three toes instead of two, short tails, and horns that can resemble hadrosaurs’ crests. Their crests are colorful, and the ones with the prettiest crests end up breeding. They don’t tend to live in groups, but ones with young babies will probably form them.
Yeah, if you couldn’t tell, this was originally just an uninspired Wings of Fire rip-off. I’m trying to rework it into its own thing, but I’m so far deep into rip-offness that I’ve started subconsciously replacing the word “dragon” with “monster” when I read the books lol. In any case, if you have any more lore questions, don’t be afraid to ask!
Also, thank you for being my second ever ask! I’d give you a silver star, but I couldn’t find any on Google images. So instead, you get a verbal thanks!

sorry i keep putting stuff in here but I thought of an interesting question this morning about the guardians. (and I don't mind if this takes you ages to do it's really fine lmao)
Where would you place your Guardians (to make it easier you can do the more 'younger' half of the family) in a ranking of... morally questionable or worse to actually morally good.
My money is on Locke or Sojo being at the bottom maybe unless we're counting Rex aka Tobor
YOU'RE RIGHT THIS DID TAKE ME "AGES" TO REPLY TO I'M SO SORRY.
Honestly tho this is a very interesting question, which is why I didn't want to answer it too quickly. The thing about the Guardians that's easy to lose sight of (as a whole, including those in BH:O we haven't gotten to address yet) is that, for the most part, most of them aren't exactly bad people, they just tend to have really shitty personalities -- or at a MINIMUM, some shitty character traits. On some level I guess I get it because it's a very isolated group that gets more and more repressed and toxic the longer it goes on, but that said I can appreciate the work someone does without wanting to grab a coffee with them.
Anyway, let me see what I can come up with here. I'll do my best.
MOST VIRTUOUS - LEAST VIRTUOUS
Athair: I think it's kind of funny that I'm putting Athair at the topic when he's largely considered a disgrace among the BH itself. But honestly, I think a lot of them know deep down inside that what Athair didn't isn't actually bad, it's just not something that directly benefited them. This is a guy that gave up EVERYTHING in his life, from a pretty young age even, to help others that were desperately in need. Athair did way more than just give up his duties as a Guardian; he gave up his relationships, his home, his reputation (especially for breaking Nemo out of prison) and even just basic comfort. The life he leads with the Lost Tribe is orders of magnitude harder than the life he has on Angel Island, but he willingly chose it because it was the right thing to do.
Sabre: Okay, I think we can all agree that Sabre can be a real tool, but the main reason he was so obnoxious was because he was so frustrated by the sheer volumes of injustice that he couldn't do anything about. He's the sort of person that doesn't let the little things go because he kind of doesn't see anything as a little thing. His sense of justice is one of his main motivations in life. The main reason why I'm ranking him behind Athair is because, while he does do a lot to enact change and also has to risk/give up things that are important to him for his morals, there's not much he can do that could ever really top the incredible sacrifices that Athair had to make for his cause.
Janelle-Li: I would say that she also has a very strong sense of justice, but that's also kind of a natural side effect when you're directly facing discrimination for most of your life. A lot of people, way more than just the Brotherhood, treated her differently simply because she was a woman, so she had plenty of drive to promote change in her world. Janelle did a ton of good for Echidnaopolis and the Brotherhood, but she took a more subtle approach to do so, mostly in the form of leading by example. There's nothing wrong with that, to be sure, but it also results in changes coming at a much slower pace overall, and sometimes it doesn't always drive home why bad behaviors are bad, so there are going to be people that never learn the lesson. I'd like to think that, had she lived longer, maybe she also would've made some bigger, bolder moves as well.
Thunderhawk: There's probably not much I can say here about Thundy that y'all don't already know, because I'm pretty sure he's almost universally everyone's favorite (living) BH member. He has pretty much the same morals as Janelle, and also shares insights into what discrimination and abuse can look like. The main reason he's ranking below her instead of equal with her is that he DOES have a bad habit of drawing lines in the sand once he's come to the conclusion that someone is bad; we saw this both in how he treated Nemo and how he reacted to Locke's treatment of Elias. All of his kind words and empathy go out the window at that point, and it can take quite a lot for him to change his mind again.
Spectre: In an interesting way, I see Spectre in much the same way I see Janelle, but the key difference between them is that he doesn't have nearly as much courage. Janelle was very vocal about her thoughts and feelings and used that as a persuasive tool when fighting adversity, whereas Spectre learned very early on that it was not safe to speak his mind. As a result, he has a strong sense of morality and why things are right or wrong, but he does very little about it. If it's something he can solve with an action, he will absolutely do so, but if it requires a discussion? Spectre is borderline useless in that situation. Unfortunately, strong morals are almost meaningless if you're unable to put them into action.
Sojourner: We all know Sojo's not a pleasant person to be around, and that he can verge into abusive territories when uninterested in holding back. He IS aware that he shouldn't do things like that, but there are two problems there: 1) He may or may not actually feel bad afterwards, depending on how justified he feels to act out, and 2) even when he doesn't feel justified, he still comes up with excuses for why things are fine and he doesn't need to change. It wasn't that bad, they'll be over it soon, it's just the way I am, life isn't fair... etc etc etc, I'm sure we've all heard these excuses before. I mean yeah, it is good that he DOES occasionally call himself out for being shitty, but if he doesn't then adjust his behavior or outlook to reduce and eliminate that quality, then it's functionally the same as not calling himself out at all.
Locke: Pretty sure you guys don't need me to go into detail here, because we all know all too well how many times Locke has crossed the line without looking back. He unfortunately has the perfect mental recipe of 1) recognizing that the things he does hurts others, but 2) convincing himself that doing so is necessary. I won't even tangle this up with the fact that he feels like his actions will be a net positive in the end, because he is DIRECTLY presented with evidence, OVER AND OVER, from lots of different people, that his information is inaccurate, that there exist far less harmful ways to achieve his goals, and that he lacks the consent of those he's affecting. Even with his belief that he's had a vision, even with the fact that he undoubtedly has mental illnesses affecting how he thinks and behaves, he actively chooses the methods that necessarily and irreparably cause others harm, purely to satisfy himself and his needs. I can't even cut him a break from the fact that his illnesses are tainting how he perceives and processes information, because he DID have that period where he was in the hospital and received some of the help he desperately needed and showed a marked improvement even in that short time -- and then chose to return to methods he knew were harmful purely for his own benefit. And unfortunately, there was no more reaching him after that.
MORITORI: MORAL OR...?
I kinda wanted to address Moritori separately from everyone else, and not necessarily because he's not "really" part of the Brotherhood. An argument could be made that he -functionally- is a part of them and therefore counts, but to me that issue is kind of a red herring. The thing to remember about Moritori is that he's playing a very different game, and on a VERY different scale. He doesn't do the horrible things he does simply for shits and giggles, he does them because he's DEEP under cover in enemy territory and trying to systematically weaken his enemies enough so that his side can be victorious. That's not really uncommon or unexpected for someone in his position; he's basically the equivalent of a CIA operative. If he intends to gain any ground for HIS side of the war between the Brotherhood and the Legion, then yeah, he's going to have to get his hands dirty.
So as far as his morality is concerned, I feel like it's kind of not fair to judge him because we're necessarily looking at him as the bad guy, because our POV is implicitly aligned with the Brotherhood's. From a BH perspective, yeah, it's very easy to say that Moritori is a despicable person that does unconscionable things -- but from the Legion's perspective, this guy has made OUTRAGEOUS sacrifices purely for their benefit. He, like Athair, literally had to give up everything in his life in the hopes of helping a people desperately in need -- and he doesn't even get the benefit of BEING with those people like Athair does. Everything he does is motivated by the idea that the Brotherhood needs to be stopped, that the Legion is relying on him, that his family needs him to do these things. If it was someone on our side doing these same things in a Nazi regime during WWII, would we judge our spy for the individual things they had to do, or would we hail them as a war hero for taking down the enemy and saving our people? And if we were to do that, does that mean that the individual acts they had to commit against the other side are now fine? They're still horrible things, but we forgive them for those things in that context. But they still did them, and people suffered for it -- just not our people, so we don't tend to extend that compassion.
Anyway, this is just a very long way to say that Moritori's morals are complicated. He does a LOT of horrible things that hurt a ton of people, but I also think that context is key, and the fact that he's under cover in the middle of a war adds at least some mud to the water. The Brotherhood would consider him less than scum, but the Legion would hail him as one of the greatest heroes of all time for single-handedly taking on the entire Brotherhood to save them. Who's right and who's wrong depends deeply on your point of view.

when rio shot dean do you think he meant to kill him? what was his motive there? did he mean to kill him but missed or was he just trying to regain some power over beth by shooting her husband and showing her that he could and he didnt really care what happened to him?
Hi Anon! Thanks for the ask 🥰
I definitely have thought about this scene many times, both through canonic facts and fic interpretation. There’s a lot if headcanon out there. I personally think that if Rio wanted to kill Dean, he would have killed Dean. There were so many ways to do it. He could have walked closer, aimed better… Anything. The way he fired was so casual. It was a message. A wake-up call to Beth who was dabbling in things way over her head. So Rio showed her what the consequences of her sloppy games could be.
While I don’t think he was actively trying to kill Dean, he also wasn’t actively trying not to kill him. He just popped him – whatever happens happens. At this point I think Rio had decided that Beth doesn’t give a shit about Dean anyway. He knew better than to go for Ruby or Annie or her children. Because she actually loves them. But Dean was fair game. A pawn. And Rio hadn’t exactly been wrong. It wasn’t that Beth didn’t care if he died. It’s that she was willing to accept his death and live with being the cause of it. She had resigned herself to it so easily that her marked surprise that he was alive seemed cold and cruel on screen.
I don’t want to give Rio too much credit. It always bugs me when he’s interpreted as this omniscient being who somehow just knows all Beth’s secrets. He isn’t that. But I think he reads people well and easily, with little context. He isn’t always right but he often is pretty damn close. And I don’t think this is an especially uncommon trait, especially in someone who was thrown into the deep end early and had to sink or swim using just his intuition and charisma. So Rio’s just good at feeling out the vibes on people, in their relationships, in how they just ARE. While he took a risk that Beth would forgive him the shooting of her husband, even if he happened to not live through it, Rio read her right. He offered her a mentorship (as I mentioned in this post), and she accepted the job.
Rio’s all about being the sage, the paternal figure who offers firm yet loving lessons. I imagine this is how he generally parents Marcus. My headcanon is that Rio doesn’t expect to be in Marcus’s life forever so he parents him in a way that imparts many “important life lessons” in a short period of time. Almost platitudinal. He lets Rhea do all the real parenting while he comes by and does his man-to-man lessons in how to adhere to the rigid gender roles Rio has decided men hold.
But I digress. This is all to say, Rio views women as someone to care for, (like children), and therefore treated Beth the way he would a child. He taught her a lesson rather than offer her a discussion and courtesy of agency as he asked her to learn from him as the master. How interesting that his inability to be intuitive about his own shortcomings and prejudices, and his refusal to adjust his communication methods is what almost cost him his own life. Because Beth isn’t a child and she didn’t owe him endless obedience.
Thank you for coming to my lecture about toxic masculinity. 😂😂😂

Sokka's Master Re-Watch
I enjoy that the water siblings get back-to-back episodes about how awesome they are. It's what they deserve. And much like 'The Painted Lady' is about Katara's defining traits, I think 'Sokka's Master' tells us a lot about Sokka. I kind of feel like just copying Piandao's quote because it's so good.
"Sokka, when you first arrived, you were so unsure. You even seemed down on yourself. But I saw something in you right away. I saw a heart as strong as a lion turtle, and twice as big. And as we trained, it wasn't your skills that impressed me. No, it certainly wasn't your skills. You showed something beyond that.
Creativity, versatility, intelligence... these are the traits that define a great swordsman. And these are the traits that define you. You told me you didn't know if you were worthy, but I believe that you are more worthy than any man I have ever trained."
Tumblr media
[ID: an image of Sokka with a sword, looking serious. end id]
Also - I have to laugh real quick. "But I believe that you are more worthy than any man I have ever trained." Uh, didn't PIandao also train Zuko? Dragged through the mud lmao
The Sokka Vs. Piandao fight, & the reveal that Piandao is - 1. aware of the Gaang's real identities & 2. a member of the mysterious White Lotus - is pretty well done, even if I still haven't decided how I feel about that club.
Also, I realized I've been doing Sokka a little dirty in my fanfics by never letting him have his meteor sword as a weapon in universes where it could've been relevant (Vampire Diaries & Buffy alternate universes come to mind) as a signature weapon. Sorry, Sokka, I think it's because it comes up so late in the show. Still. Next time. It's such a neat weapon.
An aspect of this episode that I really enjoy is that when Sokka confesses his insecurities, no one teases him. The Gaang so sincerely respect & love Sokka. I especially enjoyed the water-siblings moment.
Tumblr media
[id: Sokka sitting apart from Katara, Aang, & Toph, looking sad. end id]
Katara is quick to let Sokka know that no one else sees him the negative way he sees himself. But, she doesn't discount his feelings as ridiculous either. It's such a sweet moment. And I always crack up at how quickly shopping cheers Sokka up!
It's been commented on before that the A plot of this episode is Sokka learning to be a master swordsman & the B plot is Sokka's friends sitting around talking about how great he is & how much they miss him & the C plot is Iroh getting swole as fuck in prison & that's basically an ideal episode & I have to agree. I loved this episode even if I missed the Fire Teens. I can't be too mad about that though, because 'The Beach' is coming up next.
Oh, & I just have to put it out there - obviously, Sokka is the family comedian, but I liked Katara's jokes! She's funny, Aang & Toph are just mean lol
Oh yeah, Iroh getting swole as fuck in prison. Well, I don't have a lot of commentary on that. I just think it's fun & tracks well with Iroh's characterization. This is yet another example of proof that the face Iroh shows the world is not the real him. The feeble old man schtick really is - well - a schtick. It always has been. Not that he's not a kind old man with good advice & tea. He is. But there's a whole other person beneath the surface, & that's certainly interesting.
My closing thoughts on this episode are on the parallels between the water siblings & the fire siblings. Sokka & Zuko both train under Piandao & become master swordsmen. They both experience crushing insecurity, in part due to the talents of their prodigious younger sisters. The difference is - Katara & Sokka were raised in a kind environment & taught to value each other. Katara's instinct when Sokka confesses to feeling down on himself is to be there for him. I think 'The Beach' demonstrates that Azula is willing to be there for her brother in a similar manner, but because of years of being pitted against each other & the toxic dynamics at play in the royal family, it's not that easy. I'm not saying anything new here, I just fucking love narrative foils.
Sokka of course gets a lot of iconic behavior points for this entire episode...I'm gonna say +1000 for that fight against Piandao, & +500 for the meteor sword idea.
This is a great episode that allows us to take a deeper look at Sokka's character, both his insecurities & his strengths. That's all I have for now. More rambling soon to come!
