Not even 2 weeks later you find yourself going back. Okay, to be fair, prices were getting outrageously high! You couldn’t keep convincing yourself that splurging on the groceries was better than going back to the forbidden store. Your mind constantly being reminded of the cute employee might have also played a part in the decision, but you’ll never admit that. You had to prep yourself in the car for about 20 minutes before actually entering the store. It sadly didn’t work because as soon as you walk in you wanted to walk out. Think about the prices, think about the prices, think about— “Excuse me,” an annoyed customer shoves you aside. “Sorry,” you squeak out, already embarrassing yourself, and you haven’t walked 5 feet into the store! You exhale before grabbing a cart, which did not fight this time, and head in. You look around trying to spot the cute employee from last time but no luck. You don’t know whether to be disappointed or relieved. Shaking your head, you remember why you’re here, and that’s to get groceries and head out. No detours! Most of your list has been crossed off except for the milk. It was a bit difficult to navigate since you were so used to your old grocery store. You're about to turn the aisle when you accidentally bump into someone. “Sorry! I—” you look up, and it’s like déjà vu. Before your mind can melt into a puddle, he speaks. “Oh hey! You’re the girl who fell into the carts!” His face of surprise morphs into concern. “Are you okay now? You didn’t look too good last time.” Speak, woman, speak! “Yes! I’m okay!” You say a bit loudly, startling him from your enthusiasm. Please universe, just let me shop in peace! “Ah, that’s good! You ran out before I could get a good look.” You look away from embarrassment, hoping this interaction would just end. “Yeah, uh, sorry, it was kind of embarrassing.” He smiles, watching your cheeks blush. “No worries, I totally understand! Well, I’ll let you get back to shopping.” He turns to walk away when you suddenly remember that you still need milk. “Wait! Where can I find the milk?” He turns around and tells you which aisle it’s in. “Or I could just show you? If you’d like.” He rushes the last sentence as if he expects you to turn him down. You nod your head yes, and he smiles widely at that. “Ok, follow me!” You follow next to him as he leads you both to the dairy section. You’re walking side by side when he takes a look into your cart. “You’ve got a cat? I love cats!” You smile brightly at that. Cute and an animal lover? You could melt. “Yeah, one cat and one dog,” you say, pointing to the dog shirt that’s also in your cart. You both continue to share your love for animals before he stops. “Well, this is the milk,” he points towards the wall of milk. You thank him and grab a gallon. From the corner of your eye, you still see the cute clerk standing near you, looking as if he has something to say. As you contemplate whether you should ask if something was wrong, he taps you on your shoulder. “Hi, I probably shouldn’t be doing this but um—” he stops to look around a little uneasy “sorry, I thought I saw my manager.” He breathes out and continues, “I was just wondering if I could have your number?” You’re taken aback because this is the last thing you imagined coming out of his mouth. He takes your surprise as disgust and immediately starts to backtrack. “Sorry! I just thought you were cute! And wanted to have your number to check up on you!” Now you're laughing. “Check up on me?” He sees your smile and visibly relaxes. “Yeah, you know that fall looked really hard. It'd be good to have my number just in case.” You smirk. “In case of what? I fall on your very dangerous carts again?” “Exactly!” He pulls out his phone and hands it over to you, hoping you'd agree to exchanging numbers. And of course, you do! You'd be crazy not to. The two of you exchange numbers and names and bid farewell. You step out with groceries that will no longer cost a leg and a new contact that you'll hopefully keep in touch with.

400 Follower Celebration - Summer Edition

Hello there!

It has been quite some time since the first time I posted my first story here on Tumblr. I remember being quite nervous when I had to click on the post button and would like to say that the nervousness has gone since then but I would be lying. I was lucky enough to find some amazing people in here ready to support my work.

And thanks to you guys, today I’m here ready to celebrate a new milestone: 400 followers. I’m amazed and grateful for the support you keep giving me.

This time, I’ve decided to give you a list of summer prompts. I love summer deeply, and even though she always makes me wait for her, I’m already in the mood for warmer times.

What do you think was going on with Larry's instagram? Do you think he was changing the photos or was it a glitch the whole time?

I thought it was Larry but now I don’t know anymore. He has definitely messed with it early on though! This is a long post but I’ll summarize what happened.

22 Nov - I noticed his tagged photos was messed up and messaged him on IG.

23 Nov - I checked the next day and saw more photos. I don’t think I was refreshing his tagged photos. The photos were just there but maybe someone else can confirm.

24 Nov - I see one more new photo and feel bad that he’s potentially still stressing out about what photos to put back. The very last photo (See tickets) was new.

25 Nov - An anon sent me an ask saying there was a new photo between the two fan photos. I don’t think this was a glitch if we both saw the same thing.

Later the same day, there was another change. The See tickets were gone and replaced by a different photo! And that made me wonder if he knew we were looking at that particular area? 👀 My Tumblr link is in my bio so I thought maybe he found me from there and was amused we noticed the changes. I started “talking” to him through my hashtags and went to bed.

26 Nov - I woke up to no changes! Thought I proper scared him off so I posted this.

And then within a few hours, I saw this. At the time, I just took it as him messing with us. Yes, I’m delusional. 😂🙈

And then later the same day, I got this ask and two more photos popped up.

I admit at this point, I don’t remember if I was refreshing or not.

800 Follower Event

If you're only interested in the event and don't want to hear me rambling, then feel free to skip the first few paragraphs, it's completely fine to do so. For the rest of you:

I posted my first fic almost exactly 6 months ago, and while the fic itself has long been deleted (because it was honestly really sh*t) this blog is still there. In these 6 months 800 people (and probably one or two bots, since this is tumblr after all) all made the terrible decision to start following me/hj. And while I could write a thousand words to tell you how grateful I am, I'm not trying to waste even more of your time, so let me just be brief for once and say:

Thank you all, every person that reads my fics and everyone trusting me enough to request something from me, I know I'm not as active as in the past, but I still appreciate you all.

Anyway, you're probably all here for the event, so let me just quickly tell you the rules.

Rules:

One prompt and one character per request

Every prompt can get requested up to 2 times, if there are more than 2 requests, I'll choose which one counts on first come, first serve basis (there might be exceptions if I really like the prompt and character, but don't count on those).

There's no limit how often a character can get requested, but if one character gets requested too often, I might have to take them off the list of posibilities, so that other characters can get requested as well

Please specify if needed. If the chosen prompt could be interpreted as different genres (angst, hurt/comfort, etc), or you want to request an angst prompt with a specific subgenre (comfort/no comfort for example), then please say so. I don’t want to get things wrong.

When do the requests end?

You can request until 8pm Friday, 29th of July (CET)

A few basic informations:

One (/) means the prompt has been requested once already. Two (/) mean that it was reqeusted twice already and isn’t available any longer.

When something has been requested, I will write the character it got requested for next to the /, so that the same prompt wont be requested twice with the same character.

I need your thoughts on Time Loops please please

Not sure where to start on this one so apologies in advance for rambling!

In terms of general time travel stories vs time-loop centric series I tend to have slightly different approaches. For general time travel stories I tend to prefer stable time loops (or observed stable time loops?) as they make the most sense in terms of mechanics. Or at least in terms of not running into paradoxes.

Also I just remembered I rambled about this previously and worded it better then so have that whilst I’m at it:

All that said! I see time loop stories *set up* as time loop stories in a slightly different way as their own self-contained thing. With these, you don’t have to worry about how the time loop fits into the overarching scheme of things for time travel and can try a load of different types of time loops out. So, you get some stories where the loop is exactly the same *minus changes made by the protagonists* and that can actually help build up a mystery. If other changes are being made then who is making these? Is there someone or someones in the loop also influencing things? You can also get series where actually each loop the characters are dumped in is essentially a different universe where there are minor alterations where events will spin out differently (see: Higurashi). There’s a lot of leeway in terms of how time loops are set up and what the specific rules are. Does the loop reset at a certain time or when a certain event is triggered?

Time loops are basically open to a lot of different mechanics that both the characters and the audience can try to figure out which means there’s a huge overlap with mystery stories. And I think that ultimately lends a lot to why I personally enjoy them. Because there’s always something that needs to be figured out, either in the mechanics of the time loop itself or in terms of how characters can break out of the loop. What conditions need to be fulfilled? And then if there limits to the looping itself (limited loops) it enforces a limit on how long the characters have to fulfill that condition.

(Also, just to note that single episode time loops generally exist to push characters to limits they wouldn’t usually consider until they complete an action that snaps them out of it. They therefore tend to be more character-driven and less mystery-driven than a series would be. I still personally like them, but for a different reason than the mechanics/mystery of longer series.)

Going to list a few time loop media I've watched in the last few years below the cut. I'm probably forgetting a load and I've not included any series that are usually more standard fare but have a single time loop episode. This isn't really a rec list but more a 'have some thoughts on this media against your will’. I will say that more than one of these doesn't present itself from the start as a time loop series so the fact it’s listed here may itself be considered a spoiler, but as there's no way to spoiler tag on Tumblr as far as I know you'll just have to choose whether to risk that by clicking the read more.

Also, like, given these are time loop series/films/etc, people die in them. A lot.

Reset (cdrama)

Two people on a bus that keeps exploding trying to figure out how to escape the bus with themselves and everyone else on the bus alive.

The plot writing for this one is really tight and the way stuff ties into the overarching plot builds a really strong mystery. It's one of those series where you're generally figuring a lot of stuff out at about the same pace as the characters are managing it which is really refreshing tbh? It's rare that mystery series manage to hit that sweet spot. It also has some really strong individual character focus episodes.

Its weak points basically come down to a) mandatory romance (though it's not really the focus and easily ignorable), and b) the fact it's a mainland Chinese drama means that its approach to some of the police and crime aspects of the show especially is going to be kinda... offputting. For what it's worth though, I think the writers did the best they could within that framework.

Steins;Gate (anime)

Okay, so this series is an adaptation from a visual novel but all considered tells the story well enough to work as an anime. The main victim of the fact its an adaptation is the pacing in the first ten or so episodes as it has to introduce and show all the characters in ‘normal’ situations before pulling the rug from underneath them. This means that the first few episodes can be rather slow going until the plot kicks in. Some of the characters in the anime do get way more characterisation than others, but I think you’re given enough for basically all of them to be able to sympathise when they get focus episodes. Except for Daru, sorry. I know some people can like his character, but I tend to find it waaaay too “haha funny anime pervert” style and nothing else to particularly like him. (I will say he gets more fleshed out in S;G 0, but in the OG series? No.)

Anyway! One of my favourite parts of this series beyond Kurisu and Okabe (once the latter has taken several shots to the ego) is the way it lays out the time travel mechanics. I won’t go into full detail, both because it would take ages and because my explanation skills are not up to the task, but essentially it uses the idea that there are several main branch timelines and you can create variations in order to move across between timelines. Small variations and you still cycle around the ‘main’ branch in a sub-timeline of it, but with a big enough variation you can hop all the way across to a different ‘main’ branch. Of course, timeline changes are pretty tricky when the only way you have to enact them is... sending a text to the past.

Note: There are two further anime pieces you can watch after the original series. There's the film set after the OG series and there's Steins;Gate 0. With the film, it's very much "this is your series on emotions rather than plot" and it caters very much to the main relationship of the series. It's up to you how canon you consider it. Steins;Gate 0 is an optional sequel series based upon if one of the episodes of the original series branched out into a different ending. I personally do prefer the original series to 0, but 0 is good in of itself and has a somewhat different cast. It's just that it very much is not the original series and it makes that clear. Maho is not Makise and if you can't get past that you're going to really struggle watching this series.

Higurashi no naku koro ni + kai (anime)

Another VN adaptation. It’s set in a rural Japanese village in the 80s when a new guy starts at the school there. Starts slice of life cutesy, becomes horror story, rinse repeat, until you slowly realise it’s actually maybe more a mystery story about friendship? The first season plays much more into the horror elements, but you start to get more pieces near the end of that season and by the second season you’re actually getting answers to your questions. The end of the OG series was legit so cathartic? You really want to root for the main characters to succeed together.

Note: I'm talking here about the anime which is probably the most accessible route to get into the series, but this was originally based upon a visual novel series that I believe now has translations available via Steam. The VNs, from what I've heard, have a lot of extra information for each arc than was able to get adapted to the anime. That said, having only watched the anime, I found it plenty fulfilling in of itself and I think more gets through than VN readers actually realise. There's also an optional sequel anime series: Higurashi Gou/Sotsu. I have... very mixed feelings on it and the focus is very different to the OG series, but from what I've heard, the manga adaptations of these arcs (Gou and Meguri, I think?) do a much better job of fleshing out motivations and pacing. (There’s also Umineko which is a kind-of-kind-of-not connected series by the same author which I saw the anime of yeaaaars ago and have been trying to wipe from my brain so I can read the VN without spoilers. Even though I’m super tempted by the Beato art)

Groundhog Day (live action)

I've watched this loads in my childhood but hadn't properly rewatched until a few months back. I feel like almost anyone into time loops who's from a western background will have seen this already so not quite sure what to add. I guess... I hadn't remembered how much of a dick the main character was and found that some aspects had perhaps aged with the film (for instance, I feel like the romance aspects would hopefully have been written differently nowadays)? But overall still a decent watch.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica (anime)

The fact I’m putting this on this list is a spoiler in of itself. In case you’ve somehow not come across this series in the last decade or so though, I’ll do the usual thing of saying “watch at least the first four episodes”. It’s magical girl genre, a darker take than typical, though maybe not as much as people like to make it out to be. Still, the series is a self-contained plot where the characters are mainly there to move the plot along and to present themes. It also ties in various pieces of old European literature/folktales (Faust, the original Little Mermaid) without you needing to have read/heard of them to follow it along.

Giving this one a shout-out purely because it's a gen (pre-slash technically) fic set in ancient Egypt and the research the author did for it is ridiculously impressive. There're appendices where they show what they researched and where they decided to take creative liberties and-- look, it's still time loop fic, okay. It’s been years since I read it so I can’t fully remember specifics but considering I remember reading both it and its non-time loop sequel I presume the quality must’ve been at least decent.

Neon Genesis Evangelion (anime)

Not the focus but the implication is there especially in the Rebuild films that the whole series is a loop which has been reiterated many times previously and will keep repeating with various differences until at last the cycle can be broken.

Revolutionary Girl Utena (anime)

Same as Evangelion, but less evidence for it. Also, if you check out this series and you're worried about any kind of triggering content whatsoever, please look up a trigger list, thanks.

Russian Doll (live action)

Watched this in the last few weeks and it was an experience. It’s Nadia’s birthday and she keeps reliving it over and again. There are some aspects that aren't really my speed (a lot of casual sex and drugs) but it does something interesting with time loops I haven't really seen done before? Not going to say what so I don't spoil it, but a key thing with this series is basically that the universe wants to let people figure themselves out and doesn't mind giving them a nudge rather than subscribing to some of the more logical time loop mechanics. Also, a big part of the series is about how people deal with trauma, especially of the intergenerational variety and I got the impression there were a lot of Jewish themes in the series too, though not being a Jew I think a lot of it went over my head unfortunately.

This series has two seasons, the first can be watched and be complete in of itself. The second is trying to do something different than the first so not exactly comparable? Still solid, but you have to suspend your disbelief further as it goes on and really lean into the 'this is the universe's will' kinda thing.

Congratulations (Egyptian film)

Watched this with some friends because tbh I wouldn't have even heard of the film otherwise? Stuck with me even years later though. So, this film takes a lot of the basics of Groundhog Day to their extremes. The protag starts off being absolutely despicable but as he finds out more the situation changes and it changes again and by the end it's not necessarily that he's an entirely different person but his perspective has been entirely altered. This film basically uses the time loop mechanic to tell a very character-driven story and even though I was insistent at the start I couldn’t sympathise with the protagonist by the end I definitely felt *something* about him.

Just some SLS News (because it’s been a while)

Hey guys! I just felt like giving a small update regarding where chapter IV-4 is at, since it has been… Yikes, one month and a half since the last chapter!?

Anyway, the good news is that I have been able to write a fair bit yesterday and today evenings, and the major scene of the chapter is… Well, I wouldn’t say that it’s completely finished, but I would say that its completion is definitely above 75-80% by now.

As of right now, the French version of chapter IV-4 has ~4,900 words written down.

The funny part is that I had originally planned for this chapter to have a LOT more than just the one scene I’ve been writing so far (at least two more long scenes with short transitions in-between), but this scene is getting so long on its own that, once again, I am now 100% going to split this chapter and start working on IV-5 afterwards. Oh well.

I am probably not ever planning on limiting my word count, especially not during scenes like these where HEAVY stuff is going on; after all, the characters deserve that much, now that they’re communicating, for a change. And hey, more chapters for you guys does mean more content too, right?

Anyway, I’m going to go sleep now, but I just felt like giving you an update. I’ve seen the wholesome tags in your reblogs and each time was struggling to remember that this is Tumblr, not AO3, and that I can’t think of a proper way to thank you and reply to each of you personally without having to slide into your DMs (speaking of, mine are open whenever, please don’t be shy).

seeing the recent hate targeted towards blogs who do dark content—whether it be lotr/silm related or any fandom for the matter—is crazy 😭 bc for the majority of the blogs i’ve stumbled upon/follow, if not all, the authors are usually survivors of trauma related to their works. its either they’ve experienced it or have dealt with it in some way that they use the internet or some expression of art (like writing for the matter) as a way to escape and cope from it. to them, this is a form of expression to vent their frustrations and feelings, and some others see it as a way to take hold over their own trauma—and i know that it is hard for others to digest and see, but this is why people cope in different ways. if you don’t like dark content, that’s fine, you’re definitely entitled to what makes you comfortable because spaces on the internet like tumblr has tools to help you cater to your own space. but if you’re gonna go out of your way and attack authors who do dark content, it’s not any better. i think it’s hypocritical—how come you get to have a safe space but diminish how others cope? i know it’s a controversial conversation, whether it makes you a bad person for liking stuff like this and going as far as making art of it, but it’s definitely up to the person who makes it. i can’t really state for sure if it makes you bad or not, but i doubt anyone can, because not everything completely adheres to a black and white perspective. there isn’t a limit to what you can write about and the type of fanfics others enjoy. i’m sure that someone who enjoys horror movies like friday the 13th isnt going around to support real life serial killers.

look, there’s a reason why authors heavily tag their works when writing darkfics. there’s disclaimers upon disclaimers upon disclaimers. i remember stumbling upon a fic on ao3 that was so heavily tagged it felt like centuries passed by trying to scroll through. there’s a reason why a lot of content like this is tagged 18+, for mature audiences, because if you’re old enough, you know how to handle content like this. and if you really want to get into it, critical thinking is definitely involved when you’re consuming stuff like this, that’s why it’s only and made by mature audiences.

one of the best things about authors who properly tag their works, is that they tag their works properly. it’s not like they’re creating a fanfic where their main summary and premise is a nice, simple, vanilla romance with no trigger warnings whatsoever, so you read it thinking it’s something you can digest. only to figure out, there’s definitely scenes later on the books that diminishes that narrative of a non-dark content story. i think that’s shitty, it’s feels like it’s glorifying some messed up abuse and branding it as “romance.” but that’s the main difference here, you don’t see none of that bs when it comes to blogs that create dark content. like i said, a lot of these blogs are created by people who understand—that’s why tagging fanfics/dark fics are so vitally important and why these authors take it seriously. if you’ve been around the fanfic community, you know that tagging is very serious around here because it helps people filter out certain things that they don’t want to see, and that makes it easier for other people to create their own safe spaces.

i know it’s easy to just chalk it up to, “if you don’t like, don’t read”/“just block the tags,” and it may feel like people are just dismissing it. but it really is that easy to say that. no one is dismissing how you feel about dark content and no one should, for the matter, ever talk crap about your own feelings and experiences. but as i’ve said and many of these authors say, you get to create your own boundaries on the internet. if you don’t like, just block. there’s no need to go around and harass others, seriously. it doesn’t make you any better.

also for the authors and blogs who’s been getting hate and attacked on this, i’d probably suggest turning off your anons for awhile. there’s a reason why people are so quick to hate on the internet because they are granted anonymity, so it can be used as an advantage.

also sorry for the ramble 😭 i felt bad seeing blogs i follow get harassed over this and i wanted to offer some retrospect! everyone is entitled to their own feelings, but be understanding of others. in no way am i defending that anon that’s been going around and spreading hate and disgusting death threats. i hope you all have a great week, be happy and be nice to others—always.

I got to this so late, I'm sorry. But yes, everything you said is absolutely valid. Most writers I know tag their work accordingly. I also feel like people don't realise that by policing something like dark content they are criticising an outlet for survivors. I was surprised by how many are writers and readers, as I have discovered due to this situation. I can only hope that their safe space is also not intruded on. I honestly just want to go back to the normal stuff on my blog, but I have not only been beyond frustrated with this situation, but still receiving quite bad messages that I have chosen to block. I really wish that fandom and people in general pull themselves together

The rules. Alright, I want to make sure that they are clear. This is a fan week is for Lancaster (Ruby Rose & Jaune Arc). Which takes place in September. If you have early submissions, you can submit them to the blog, and they will be in the queue until September. I will not be accepting any submissions that are not Lancaster. No ploy ship fics or art will be accepted. If they aren’t the main focus, I know it sounds odd? But trust me, I got a few direct submissions last year that were not Lancaster at all, and I have to be thorough and transparent.

 Any and all submissions are accepted as long as those Jaune and ruby are the main characters. That includes fanfiction, fanart, fan comics, podfics, and more. If it’s those two, I want to see what you can come up with. Finally, try to follow the days prompt; there is some wiggle room for the submission. This is about celebrating this ship! This year because of everything that happened to me personally and as well to hopefully get more submissions than last year? I made a prompt list with alternative prompts; if you don’t like the initial one, you don’t have to do both. It’s an alternative options if you don’t like them.

Day 1.   Distance/ College AU: with distance, it’s either emotional, physical, or anything, everything in between the two. College is exactly how it sounds and how you write or draw this up to you.

Day 2.   Illusions/ Crossover Au: when I say illusion, I mean whether it’s a mirage, a place where you see illusions of things that aren’t real. A crossover with your favorite fandom outside RWBY.

Day 3.   Memories/ Telepathy AU: whether it’s memories of better times or reflecting on the past bittersweetly. Or thinking back on the memories of the past and realizing you could have done better or been better. Telepathy AU is almost self-explanatory 1; of the characters, maybe Ruby, maybe Jaune, has telepathy, and now I have to deal with it.

Day 4.   Mystery/ Deserted Island AU: mystery, whether it’s something they need to solve at each other, or anything you can come up with, I’m not gonna try to box in your creative. With royalty AU again, go ham. The Sky is the limit; just make sure that it’s about Lancaster. Considering where volume 9 is taking place on a strange island slash dimension ?

Day 5.   Secrets/ Switched Au: whether secrets from one another or secrets from the world. Switched au is that everything is mostly the same except everyone, but Weiss is now a Faunus of some kind.

Day 6.   Strength/ Blind Date AU: whether in the strength of character, the strength of minder, strength of will or strength of heart, or physical strength, we want to be technical. Blind AU sounds as easy as it stated because it is someone sets one of the two dorks up on a blind date, hilarity can ensue, sweetness can ensue; it is up to you

Day 7.   Truth/ Body Swap AU: the truth about a big secret truth about themselves or just a truth that they feel is true about themselves. Sky’s the limit on what you wanna do. Body swap au is as obvious as it sounds; what you do with that is up to you!

all this american bullshit is stressing me out, like the abortions and the tracking periods to see if someone's pregnant (etc) is so stress inducing.... AND I DON'T EVEN LIVE IN THE US. Yet most of my friends do and I worry for them, my parents don't see what's wrong with it, that I know of at least... I don't discuss things with them often. but it's so fucked up and I might have another panic attack cause idk what to do even when it doesn't effect me

I’m really sorry you’re struggling with this, nonnie. I’ve felt similarly before, where I was so worried about things so big and so outside my control that I felt like the only thing I could do was panic. Before anything else, I want you to know it's completely understandable to be worried about this situation, especially if your friends are affected.

I’m going to give you some advice based on how I handle this, but remember you’re allowed not to take it if you don’t want to.

1. Set boundaries. I know it’s tempting to doomscroll on social media and stay updated on every single detail of what’s going on, and I know you desperately want to help, but the truth is you can’t pour from an empty cup, and the only thing you're going to accomplish if you don't set boundaries is to trigger and drain yourself. That’s why I find it so important to take as many steps as possible to control how you engage with the thing that’s stressing you out. Here’s some ways to do it:

Filter tags and words on Tumblr and other social media. On Tumblr, in particular, I recommend filtering the following tags: #current events, #US politics, #roe v wade and, if the broader topic also stresses you out, #abortion. Remember: filtering the tags doesn’t mean you’re avoiding the topic or pretending the problem doesn’t exist. It means you’re giving your future self the chance to decide when to click through and interact with this topic, and when to scroll past because you’re not in a good mental headspace. You’re also giving your future self trigger warnings so that you don’t unexpectedly read upsetting info (or at least it happens significantly less often).

Ask your friends to ask you before talking about the topic. It’s okay to ask your friends to be careful when they bring the topic up with you, for example by asking if it’s okay to bring it up before doing it to give you a chance to say no. You can also ask them to add a trigger warning at the top of messages dealing with the topic, or even to spoiler them if you’re on discord.

2. Once you’ve taken these (and any other) steps to limit your interactions with the upsetting topic, try to focus on what you can control:

What are abortion laws like where you live? Are there any local associations you can help, even if it’s just by following them on social media and sharing their informational posts? If you regularly attend a school or a workplace, can you look into their sexual health protocols? You could try to make change there, for example by raising awareness about the need for period product/contraception baskets, or by hanging up some posters with information on nearby abortion clinics or on where to get cheap/free period products, contraception, or pregnancy tests. (These are just some ideas!)

How can you improve your mental headspace? Is there anything that will make you feel better when you’re spiralling? Any comfort shows, or foods, or people you can talk to? When you’re in this headspace, ask yourself if there’s anything you can do right now to make yourself feel better (like decluttering your desk, drinking water, or stepping away from your devices for a little while, for example).

You can make to-do lists with manageable goals and focus on getting those done; this can sometimes help ease the feeling that we’re out of control and paralysed.

3. Make a plan to handle future panic attacks. Once a panic attack has been triggered, do you have any activities or exercises that help you get through it safely?

If you do, you can write them down in a list so you can check it out when you've been triggered. The app Clear Fear has a space decidated to keeping a list of things that help you during anxiety/panic attacks, if that's something you're interested in.

If you don't, looking into exercises that help others cope with panic attacks might be helpful! You can look for breathing gifs or videos and save them somewhere you'll remember to look for them. You can get some ice cubes ready in the freezer if you want to try holding ice to ground yourself next time you have a panic attack. You can also fill a box with objects with peculiar textures (like play-doh or stim toys) and try using them to ground yourself when you need to.

If you find yourself unable to control the panic attacks or to set boundaries, and these emotions start (or continue) to interfere with your day-to-day life, I'd consider talking to someone, like an adult you trust (if you're a minor) or a therapist (if you can and want to). This isn't something you need to fix on your own, and it's okay to ask for help.

A Follow Up Discussion

Good morning everyone! We had a few questions regarding the channels and their purposes after our announcement so we thought we would clarify some more and pin this comment. 

 #general-chat is for anything and everything your heart desires. This could be one direction and writing related but it doesn’t have to be. Keep in mind that if you are going to talk about something that could be deemed a sensitive topic use the spoiler action or start the conversation in the #sensitive-topic channel

Example: Talking about a fic you read that has abuse in it, use spoiler action. Talking about gun laws would be a topic for the #sensitive-topic channel

If you are planning on writing soon (this could mean Louis Tomlinson soon or actually soon) you can use the #general-chat or #real-time-writing.

Let’s say you are going to write five hours from now, feel free to give a heads up in the #general-chat. If you give a time, it should activate the friend time bot and people can see what time that would mean for them.

If you are writing in one minute or even five minutes, feel free to give a heads up in the #real-time-writing channel.

Censoring/Using the spoiler action: Sometimes we will use the spoiler action to block out an entire conversation. I know for me personally sometimes I do this as a way to let the person know I’m about to say something they don’t like so beware (I’m looking at myself when I’m about to tell Beca my opinion on food or a Marvel movie lol) But that isn’t helpful, is it? I would like us to try and be more cautious of how we are using the spoiler action and try to avoid using it as a way to block out an entire conversation. If you share a snippet and there are mentions that could be triggering before you share it please state: Mentions of ____ and include the triggering content. Think of what you would tag on ao3 or Tumblr and use discretion. This is also a helpful article that talks about triggers and a common list that you can reference if you are unsure. 

Thanks to Laur for the suggestion to organize our categories, Beca has done so! On the left, you will see Information, Writing & Such and Fandom & Random. Hopefully, the more organized categories can give you an idea of where to host your conversation. If you are unsure, ask!!! You can ask publicly or privately. 

Let’s talk threads! Discord allows two types of threads: public and private. 

Public threads are a great resource to use if a group of people are chatting in #real-time-writing as we are trying to limit the amount of side conversations happening in that channel. As these are public, remember to use the spoiler action when discussing sensitive topics. 

Due to the level our server is at, we are not able to use Private Threads. (To boost the level of the server, we must pay as it’s a Nitro feature, which is also paid. Beca boosted the channel once, but if she wants to boost it again to go to level 2, she has to pay again because it’s a paid feature in Nitro). Private threads could be used when discussing spoilers for a fic you are working on or spoilers for a tv show a few people are watching at once. We encourage you to reach out to people via DMs!

An example of creating a group DM: a few of us play Animal Crossing and since I knew that could clog the #general-chat and we can’t use private threads, I created a group chat to discuss all things Animal Crossing. (And a reminder, to create this private group chat, you have to add the person as a friend.) If you want to send the same message to different people at the same time it’s also impossible. You need to add the users as friends. (It’s a discord feature so there isn’t much we can help with it.)

Onto DMs, they are a great way to check in with each other about literally anything! Helping beta, asking how their fic is coming along, or being their accountability partner. You could also move the conversation to Tumblr, seeing as how we all have our URLs easily accessible if you don’t want to DM someone on discord. Private messaging isn’t necessary, it’s just an option.

It has also been brought to our attention that there have been a few conversations and comments that have made some people uncomfortable. We once spoke briefly about it in #general-chat in the hopes that people would read it and keep that in mind, but we feel an official statement is best. Beca and I let a few things slip through the cracks which is not okay and we apologize for not doing something about it the moment it happened. Going forward we are going to try to keep a more watchful eye on conversations happening on most of the channels- I say most because I cannot look at my policeman channel due to my own issues. That being said, if you see something, say something. Especially seeing as how there are time zone differences and we can’t catch things happening when we are sleeping. The best part of having Beca is that we are a team and we can discuss together who takes care of what issue that way we are both taking care of ourselves and all of you. We are asking for your help in keeping this safe because there is a chance we will miss something. If you don’t say anything we can’t help you or do anything to keep the server a safe space for everyone- which is one of our goals.

We love getting to know each other and talking about other music or movies or more personal matters like our health or tattoos. Discussions about those things are okay and encouraged. Discussions about the boys’ music and what concerts people get to attend is okay. Talking about their upcoming projects is okay.

What we will not be allowing anymore is discussions about Harry or Louis’ public relationships- really any of the boys but seeing as how Harry and Louis’ public relationships are more prominent that is what is talked about most. This topic is off-limits on all of the channels. Any type of misogyny, violence or more “heated” comments will result in a warning via DMs. If you proceed to make comments that go against this rule or our previous rules, you will be banned.

Please, keep in mind that we are not trying to prevent you from having conversations. It’s, in fact, the opposite. We are just trying to keep things organized so everyone can engage in conversations without feeling lost or uncomfortable.

As an aside, Beca and I are not fluent in discord and all that it entails- hence the hiccups. We are new to owning a server which is why we value your input and patience as we navigate this. We have been planning to do an audit for months and have been keeping track of things to discuss. This is something we’ll be doing periodically and we will always keep you updated, that is why it’s also very important you give us your opinions, suggestions, complaints or anything you feel it’s worth sharing. You guys are awesome and no one is in trouble! Thank you so much for everything so far!

Hi! Secret Santa again! I can only imagine how hard ur speed paints are to make gifs with how much you have to shrink them for tumblrs terrible limits and even remembering to record the timelapse, I always say I’m going to record myself making things so people can see the process, but I never think about it until I’m at least halfway done lol.  

Oml the all in Lino in the cop/detective look is SO amazing,  he really seems to be able to pull off any concept and not make them seem over the top or silly. When he’s in all pastels and wearing a beret it doesn’t feel like someone forced him into a “cute” outfit, and when he’s doing the almost costume outfits like cops, or vampires they also just seem to suit him completely. He’s really one of those people that because he is so confident in himself nothing feels silly or out of place. 

Thunderous has definitely been my favorite era for Minho specifically. I think the  modernized more traditional outfits really work well with him, and having changbin shout his name before his part every stage felt really special. Over all I think thunderous, backdoor, and maniac have been my favorite eras. I feel like ever since gods menu that the boys have become a lot more confident and their stage presence and just how they act on skz talkers and things has felt more comfortable. Those concepts also just have felt like they really suited all of the members to me, plus im just a big fan of their more “noise” title tracks they seem to have more fun when performing really signature sounding skz songs. But I also don’t think there’s an era I haven’t really enjoyed, like some part of every comeback has at least been something I’ve really enjoyed. Especially when like with thunderous they promote a b-side that is so different from the title track, I feel like it really shows their colors well.

I also see that you’re into a few other groups other than nct like tbz and ateez! I love both of them so much, it made watching kingdom extra fun, getting to see how they both interacted with skz, and seeing that they were all friends! I know I got into tbz right after they debuted but it took me a few months to really come around to liking ateez (though now I don’t know whyyyy lmao) how did u get into them and nct?

I've been super multi these days! every time i get into a new group that was in kingdom or road to kingdom i go back and rewatch their clips and interactions hehe. I got into nct first thru superm (which I got into bc of baekhyun), and i think i kinda realized that it's really fun to stan a LOT of people, so i began getting into other groups like skz. i found atz bc of mutuals on my dash during kingdom but got into them more only recently after seeing them at kcon in august and then on tour in november!! so kinda like u, it took a bit to really get into them properly^^; and for tbz i was convinced by @chanstopher and @lonelystreetlight aka two partners in crime to check them out earlier this year, so i started from their predebut show boyz flower snack and then rewatched all their rtk and kingdom stages and then the rest was history LOL

sometimes i feel bad that since i follow so many groups that i don't follow skz's content as closely anymore as i used to. but on the flipside, i like how content creators on here make it easier for me to see all the best parts of their stuff, whether it's gifsets of stages or funny moments in skz code or just good looks in skz talker <3 also being multi means it's extra fun when the kidz have fun interactions with their besties in other groups like the darlingz friend group skz changbin + atz wooyoung + txt yeonjun + tbz haknyeon + crvt serim + gncd tag etc etc (the fact that i stan all these groups 💀) or also chan is just friends with everyone in the industry haha (i love his interactions w ab6ix during isac this year 🥺)

Before we get into it, I know it says only tags but I’m not risking anything so I’m not using the banned words in the post itself either.

This is a PSA to my mutuals, followers and fellow tumblrinas who’ve seen moi around. (and please excuse the obscene number of times i use ‘my name’ in this post I literally cannot type it or I might get banned)

I am also apologizing in advance for the size of this post because i cannot tag this ‘#{opposite of short} post’ since it’s also a banned word.

We know this is limited to the iOS app for now, but just to be safe, this is for all of you regardless of what OS and app/browser you use.
