*deep breath* Okay. Here we go.
I don't think the Netflix Avatar show likes women very much. It's a great show for fans of Aang, Sokka, Zuko, and Iroh specifically. All four of those characters get a ton of great material. In fact, it's super great for Sokka stans, because the show takes him ultra-seriously and can't go five minutes without one character or another (usually a woman) praising him.
But the way it handles its female cast is troublesome.
Katara
Tumblr media
So, all three of the main trio got some changes made to their stories. They changed Aang's story so that he wasn't running away from his responsibilities; He was just clearing his head and somehow accidentallied himself into a tsunami. Whoopsy-dooodle. Aang did nothing wrong.
They changed Sokka's story so that him being a leader of his people and a great guardian warrior is treated with complete seriousness. Multiple times, characters stop to talk about how brave and noble Sokka is for taking on such an intense responsibility, and tell him to his face what a great warrior and a wonderful leader he is. Also his misogyny is erased.
And they changed Katara's story so that she directly got her mom killed because she sucks at waterbending.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Katara tries to waterbend to attack the Fire Nation soldier but couldn't manage it, provoking the soldier to start actively searching for her and forcing her mom to fake a waterbending attack and draw his fire. They changed Katara's story so that her bad decision making fucking got her mom killed.
Tumblr media
This is treated with the same level of severity as "Sokka was bullied by mean kids and also his dad doesn't think he's good enough to be a leader."
Tumblr media
"I hoped Sokka would do better but not everyone is meant to have people's lives in their hands," Sokka's dad says of him.
Yeah, you're right, that's totally comparable to watching your mom get barbecued because you tried to waterbend in a situation you shouldn't have and then failed.
In fact, they give Sokka's greatest trauma more weight because it gets examined again with Yue next episode, while Katara actively getting her mom killed isn't brought up again at all. We get traumatized glimpses of it throughout the season leading up to the reveal, but after this scene in episode 5, it never comes up again.
But to be fair, Katara was a child. An event this significant would surely have motivated her, driving her to become the great waterbender she is now, right?
No! Katara sucks at waterbending and needs men who aren't even waterbenders to teach her how to waterbend. She requires instruction from Aang in episode 1 to learn how to waterbend, then from Jet in episode 3 to learn how to waterbend better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And unlike the show, her relationship with Aang isn't a give-and-take; Katara doesn't teach Aang a single goddamn thing. He never learns to waterbend. She is a strictly a pupil throughout the whole season. Though she at least gets officially labeled a master in episode 8, so there's that.
In any case, the whole traumatic memory thing isn't even the only time she's directly compared with Sokka. Episodes 3 and 4 see Katara and Sokka bicker over whose morally dubious side character is better. Sokka likes the Mechanist and Katara likes Jet.
Ultimately, Katara is forced to eat crow when Jet turns out to be the worst, while Sokka is vindicated when the Mechanist sees the error of his ways and reforms. But not before two separate arguments where Sokka calls Katara childish and accuses her of acting like a little girl.
Tumblr media
Arguments ultimately resolved when Katara apologizes to Sokka for not adequately respecting his very serious and ultra important role as village protector and leader. Gives him a whole speech about how great and glorious he is. And Sokka... appreciates Katara learning to respect him properly, I guess, because he never offers any similar sentiments back to her.
Tumblr media
The show just... They need you to know how important Sokka is, okay? It's very important that you respect Sokka.
Suki
Tumblr media
Suki suffers tremendously from that whole "Sokka's misogyny was removed" thing. Y'know, because they need something else to do with that episode. The show is deeply aware that Suki is Sokka's love interest, so they just do that right off the bat. Suki falls madly in love with him from the moment they meet, and spends the entire episode making goo-goo eyes and trying to get him to Notice Me Senpai.
Tumblr media
They still do the "Suki Trains Sokka" stuff. But Sokka is a serious, dignified manly man worthy of the deepest respect now, so of course they don't make him wear the Kyoshi uniform. Instead, the main purpose of his training is to allow them to flirt some more. It's less martial arts training and more an excuse to grope each other and near-kiss.
Tumblr media
Suki's just a waifu now. She still fights real good, but all of the stuff that made her relationship with Sokka interesting has been erased.
Yue
Tumblr media
Yue, similarly, leaps straight to shipping from the word go. They write out her fiance, Hahn, by having Yue briefly meet Sokka earlier in the season. She spends one minute talking to him in the Spirit World about Spirit World lore; In that time, she falls so desperately, madly, unfathomably in love with him that she breaks off her marriage to Hahn and devotes herself to waiting for him to one day come to her.
Tumblr media
"Never have I known such joys as that time you let me explain the spirit bear Hei Bei to you. Truly, we are destined to be together for life."
Like with Suki, they go out of their way to have Yue and Sokka already be a ship from the word 'go' so they don't have to spend time developing any kind of meaningful attraction.
They just. They really want you to know that Sokka is the manliest and most desirable man ever to walk this earth. It is very important that you understand how great he is. Women hurl themselves into his arms with zero effort whatsoever, because he's just so goddamn irresistible.
Tumblr media
Fortunately, Hahn is super okay with this turn of events. He's the most chill guy ever, he gets along perfectly well with Sokka, and he completely supports Yue's right to dump him! In the famously misogynistic Northern Water Tribe, no less! What a swell guy. Aren't men swell?
June
Tumblr media
June gets hit with that "rewritten as hollow waifu" stick too, but her eyes are set on Iroh. They rewrote June to be super attracted and flirty towards the man who was her unwanted sexual harasser in the source material. So that's fun.
Also, she barely does anything. Zuko hires her to find Aang, she succeeds, and then she fucks right off out of the show - But she manages to find time to express how unbelievably sexy Iroh is twice during that time.
She seriously just dropped into the show to flirt with Iroh and leave. She is unbelievably inconsequential.
Kyoshi
Tumblr media
And then there's Kyoshi. They really want you to hate Kyoshi. She's constantly shot from below, as if looking down on Aang and the audience. Her voice takes on a demonic echoing reverb at one point as she's screaming at Aang that "THE AVATAR MUST BE A MERCILESS WARRIOR!!!"
Tumblr media
She despises Aang, calling him a coward for running away from his responsibilities - Which, I remind you, is no longer a plot point because they unwrote that flaw from his character. So she's just a complete and utter asshole, shot from the asshole angle, yelling violently at him with asshole sound effects. They want you to despise this woman.
Azula
Tumblr media
Awkwardly, they do not seem to want you to despise Azula.
There's a lot to be said for how Ozai treats Azula in the original show. The way the favoritism he shows her is every bit as cruel and manipulative as the unfavoritism that he shows Zuko. Ozai does not love Azula. He loves the reflection of himself he sees in her eyes, and his encouragement urges her to polish herself to ensure his reflection always shines through.
Tumblr media
This is not that. The show instead erases the favoritism entirely. Ozai doesn't really care one way or another about either of his kids. He plays them against each other, bragging openly to Azula about how great Zuko is and unpleasably writing Azula off as weak and useless.
They've rewritten the dynamic between abusive father and his two abused kids in order to take Azula's pride away. Reimagining her from a gifted prodigy who excels at imitating the toxic behaviors of a father who doesn't truly care for her, to a put-upon overachiever tearing herself in knots to live up to the standards of her unpleasable father.
Tumblr media
This results in a truly wild portrayal of Azula as insecure and jealous of Ozai's seemingly love for Zuko. Here, she is simply a browbeaten child constantly complaining to her friends about how mean her father is and conspiring to get one up over Daddy's Golden Child Zuko.
Which she fails at, because she backs Zhao. Zuko deftly defeats her without even realizing they're in competition.
Conclusion
The season ends well for some of these women. It ends promising that maybe we'll see Katara teaching Aang some day. It ends with Zhao bragging that Ozai just used Zuko to train Azula so maybe we'll see the more confident and misguidedly proud Azula some day. Yue becomes the moon like she's supposed to. June's still out there so maybe she'll get to do something again some day.
Katara gets to fight Pakku and lose, but she looks pretty cool. She gets to fight Zuko and lose, but she looks pretty cool. Azula learns to lightningbend because she's just so mad about Ozai's contempt for her and favoritism for Zuko, which isn't how you lightningbend.
Tumblr media
But promises of future content fall flat when the content that exists is so underwhelming. This season made its feelings on these characters pretty evident, and it's unwise to expect better material from creators who've disappointed you with the material they already made.
The women of Netflix Avatar simply do not get to shine, outside of superficial moments like the "Women of Northern Water Tribe demand the right to fight and then fuck off and don't do anything for the entire rest of the episode" bit.
Tumblr media
"In the midst of battle, we demand that you stop being sexist and give us permission to fight! This is a way better idea than convincing you to teach us to fight before the battle begins."
The characters of this show feel as if they've been reimagined to glorify the boys at the expense of the girls. The boys are treated with a great amount of care. They're dignified and made important movers of the plot, with their rough edges sanded off. While the girls are molded around them.

Hospital Food | COD x Reader
MDNI
Summary: Your ex-husband (the biological father of your daughter) shows up when said daughter is admitted to hospital. Your current partner (and your daughter) put him in his place.
aka: stupid man gets verbally wrecked by a 17-year-old girl and a SAS soldier. Inspired by the time my stepdad and i roasted my bio dad.
Tumblr media
For @the-californicationist 's Nameless Challenge! This means you have to guess which of the delicious war criminals I'm writing about below. (This has inspired a series, so you'll find out who I was thinking of when the second one comes out. ;) )
WC: ~700 words (oops, forgive me cali)
Pairing: f!reader x tf141 member (but who? 👀)
Your ex-husband stood at the foot of his biological daughter’s hospital bed, watching her tap salt out of the little sachet onto a piece of buttered bread. His face was full of condescension, and you knew yours was full of barely contained disgust as you stared at him. God damn the child support agreement that required you to tell him when she was admitted to a hospital. At least you had otherwise full custody of her, you’re sure your ex would’ve been murdered by now if you’d been forced to see him semi-regularly – either by you or your wonderful (deadly, military-trained) partner who hated the man in front of you almost as much as you did.
God, you wish he was here right now. Unfortunately, he was wonderful enough to have gone down to the cafeteria in search of lunch for the both of you – and something sweet to sneak back in for your little girl. He spoiled her rotten, and it made you love him more every time he did.
“That’s a lot of salt,” your ex rumbled. If looks could kill, the stare your 17-year-old daughter levelled him with would’ve evaporated him where he stood.
“Yes. It is,” she spoke.
Tap tap tap, she resumed shaking the sachet.
“They put salt in bread when they make it. White bread is about 3% salt,” he said. As if there was some important point your daughter was missing.
“I know. I’ve made bread before.”
Tap tap tap.
It was taking every fibre of your being not to laugh with sheer joy and vindication as your daughter, the blood of your ex-husband, so casually eviscerated him in the middle of this tiny white room.
“Which is to say, you don’t need to be adding salt to it.” You didn’t think the man could sound any whinier. You were about to step in, but your daughter let out a deep sigh beyond her years (definitely picked up from the soldier who shared your home) and threw the empty salt packet onto the bed tray.
“Tell me, why shouldn’t I eat that much salt?” Her arms crossed in front of her, your ex-husband looked to you for help. He would get none.
“Because… it makes your body retain fluid and raises blood pressure–”
“Correct. I am in this hospital because I have low blood pressure caused by a low volume of fluid in my blood. They give me the salt packet on purpose. I am prescribed literal salt tablets,” she shook the bottle in the man’s face, “because I need to raise my blood pressure up to normal levels.”
Silence. Blinking.
“So I am going to eat this bread because it is what the doctor ordered.” Her head snapped to you, with a chaotic glint in her eye only teenage girls could possess. The next words out of her mouth would stay with you until your dying breath;
“Hey, Mum. When’s Dad coming back?”
You could not fight the grin that spread across your face, the elation jumping in your stomach. A quick glance at your ex-husband’s sour face made it clear that your daughter’s point had struck true – You are not welcome here. I do not need you. I have a real father where you failed.
You opened your mouth to reply, “He’s–”
“Right here, love!” The warm, gravelly voice of your partner filled the room, your daughter’s eyes lighting up with his presence. He stopped to press a tender kiss against your cheek, passing you a toasted sandwich, before he made his way to stand over the shoulder of your precious daughter.
“And I got you something special,” he whispered playfully, “Don’t tell the nurse.” He pulled a poppy seed muffin out of the bag he was holding and placed it on the bed tray in front of her.
“Sorry mate, who are you?” Your partner turned and cocked his head at your ex.
Your man knew exactly who the snivelling creature across from him was. Your boyfriend was just deciding to be a little shit, and it was one of the sexiest things you’d ever seen him do.
“Dad, this is Marcus. You know, the man who got Mum pregnant with me?” Your daughter’s voice was poorly disguised venom.
“Oh, right! Of course. I suppose I should thank you for your part in creating my wonderful daughter.” He stretched a hand out to your ex-husband who, for once in his life, made the smart choice to shake it and give some poor excuse for why he was needed elsewhere.
As soon as he was out the door, you had your arms around your lover, pressing endless kisses to his cheek as your daughter laughed.
“Did you hear what I said, Dad?”
Your partner leaned down to hug the girl – his girl – tightly. He grinned.
“Every fucking word.”

I LOVE MY STEPDAD SO MUCH HE'S MY REAL DAD and my mother and he are truly couple goals. I was on the phone with him the other day when I asked if he remembered this happening. he let out the most fatherly cackle of pure, shit-stirring joy I've ever heard. It was magnificent.

I am STILL waiting for Rollo to burst into Sage Island out of sheer anger and spite. Come on, you can't prove the man right after GloMas and NOT let him make a cameo in episode seven!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I do love Rollo and I'm all for vindicating him (especially as both JP and EN servers dropped book 7 part 1 right after initial runs of GloMasq), I want to make it clear and reiterate that I 100% believe Rollo will NOT be showing up in the main story, cameo or otherwise. I'd advise everyone else to not get their hopes up as well, just enjoy the fan works that come out playing with the idea 💦
Here's a compilation of why this couldn't happen, as I have spoken about this topic a number of times in the past:
Rollo showing up would imply that the events of Glorious Masquerade (which takes place around Halloween time) are canonical to the main story, even though this would create many continuity errors. For example, Deuce's UM, which is very important to GloMasq, is not gained until book 5 (which occurs in late winter, early spring). GloMasq cannot take place autumn after Deuce gets his UM either, as the third years would all be gone on their internships. Another continuity error that is recently created by book 7 part 7 is that Silver + Sebek and Idia do not seem to know each other (they have to introduce themselves to one another), meanwhile they seem quite familiar in GloMasq.
There is no reasonable way that Rollo would even KNOW what is going on or be able to breach Malleus's barrier. Only high-level officials such as Briar Valley royalty and those in STYX seem to be aware of the ongoing situation and even they have trouble trying to break into Sage's Island. Why and how would Rollo have this same knowledge, then somehow get inside Malleus's barrier?
This could set up a precedent which puts more unnecessary pressure on the devs and the direction they take future stories. It's not fair if Rollo is the ONLY Halloween character that gets to show up in the main story (especially this late into it), that would be favoritism. This creates the expectation for devs to somehow find ways to give Fellow and other future Halloween characters cameos or some relevance in the main story.
Not everyone has played GloMasq or read its story. For the people who have, it's a nice treat I guess? But for those who haven’t (even with the new feature that lets you read missed events, there is no guarantee that everyone has), this is coming out of left field and makes zero sense if they don't have context for who Rollo is. There is little gain from having him show up for the risk of alienating late or casual players, no matter how brief the cameo.
A simple summary of who he is and what he did could be implemented, but it really detracts from the experience of going through it yourself and disrupts the pacing of book 7 in order to "make space" and "play catch-up" for this other character that was NEVER previously mentioned or alluded to in ALL of the main story. This is just... not good writing in general. This would read as a convenient deus ex machina for anyone unfamiliar with Rollo. It's not the same thing as the dorm members from the previous book coming to help you save the day in the current book. At least in that situation, there is a shared understanding of the main story campaign and a practically guaranteed bond with those characters. The same is not true of Rollo, whom you as Yuu barely get to interact with that much even in his event.
To summarize, it's just not pragmatic, especially when you consider all the implications of bringing an event-only characters into the main story. There is a good reason why vignettes and events were indicated to NOT be in the same timeline or canon as the main story: to avoid contradictions and issues such as the ones I have listed above.

Well Happy days; AFO is gone and his conclusion's left me feeling pretty vindicated about all the slander I've been saying about him.
Not only did we confirm he never had a chance to control Shigaraki again because it's seemingly confirmed that Tomura really did kill the original quirk's vestige (which the plan to retake control looked to hinge on), but I think we can pretty definitively say for certain that AFO's not the final villain now that he's gone without a trace of him left. Tomura doesn't even care about him too much anymore, I mean thanks for getting him here but he's got his own things going on that're more important that AFO's creepy plot lines.
Tumblr media
Though I gotta say, even I'd started to doubt he'd legit die before he even got to the Shigaraki v Deku fight. Like wow, tripped right at the end there didn't he? What an embarrassing failure to end his life on...which I guess makes it a pretty perfect note to conclude the life and times of All For One.

Goodbye you little shit.

I can roughly guess this answer but how do you think phoenix interpreted "chooses death"/what Edgeworth was thinking? I always thought he recognized it as a suicide note and didn't find out it wasn't for like... a couple months, maybe? + that's why he's foot-in-mouth levels of angry?
idk the second I examined the window in Edgeworth's office and ema told me how long the fall would be I sort of figured that was the vibe we were going for this case 🤔
i'm honestly not sure phoenix ever really believed edgeworth was Dead dead but the most important thing is that he believes The Edgeworth He Used To Know is functionally dead after that moment. i didn't grab the screenshot when i was transcript digging and i'm not going to go back for it because i should be winding down for bed soon. but he basically says something along the lines of 'the edgeworth i knew was dead' at some point during that case.
which is super great to me because i think its a really necessary step in their relationship... one of the big moments in turnabout goodbyes is when phoenix is like I'M THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS THE REAL EDGEWORTH, because phoenix is a crazy person. it's like such a double edged sword because it's fundamentally this sweet, earnest thing that phoenix believes that deep down edgeworth is the same kind and brave person he was as a child. like that's the thing that saves edgeworth's life. but also it's just a really reductive and possessive way to view another person, so there really couldn't be any development for them until that was reckoned with
so that's where this stuff comes in. edgeworth Did die as far as phoenix is concerned. phoenix can't pretend like he Truly Understands The Real edgeworth anymore, and the person he cares about is mostly a stranger to him. and i think as much he does genuinely miss edgeworth and worry about him, obviously, a lot of that anger and backlash is coming from a place where he doesn't like being proved wrong. his worldview was centered around edgeworth being a certain kind of person, and that was vindicated first with the turnabout goodbyes trial and then with his behavior in rfta. but then edgeworth had to go and do something phoenix didn't see coming
phoenix obviously picks up that edgeworth is doing really badly and tries to reach out to him but i think that if he had even the slightest inkling of how bad things were, he would have done something more drastic to try and get through to edgeworth or intervene in some way. he's not one for half measures and he's more than willing to stick his nose in where it doesn't belong if he thinks it's for a worthwhile end. but he didn't. i think as much as he is mad at edgeworth for a dick move he is equally mad at himself for not seeing it coming when all of the clues were there, because he was too attached to what he thought edgeworth should be like to realize what kind of person he actually was.
and as a result, he lost what has been the guiding force for the last several years of his life, and his entire career - his relationship to edgeworth. so he's flying blind now. which is why JFA's big emotional climax is phoenix picking a new idea of what being a lawyer means to him. if that makes any sense. this is pretty rambling sorry.

Chiaki to me is kind of an odd character in that I think she actually has good potential, especially in possible interactions with Nagito (seriously, Komanami is probably the ONLY really great Chiaki ship in my eyes). I've seen some great fanfics that play around with her. Especially ones that explore a Despair!Chiaki. But canon just...doesn't really do a great job with her.
In fact I actually find her role kind of detrimental, in that it almost vindicates elements of Nagito's worldview. With her being an angelic embodiment of hope. Which is just...not a very healthy way to present a character in my eyes.
To go back to that stuff about Despair!Chiaki, a really neat interaction that a writer friend is considering implementing into an AU is her and Nagito talking after being rehabilitated. And her admitting that the embodiment of hope he was desperate for was something she could never be. Chiaki says something like "I guess...I'm sorry I could only ever be a girl, Nagito.". To which he responds "...And I'm sorry that wasn't enough for me."
hmm, If I'm very honest I don't ship any mlw ships with Nagito lol! It's mostly because I think the idea of Junko finding a gay man who's lonely, terminally ill, traumatized, and desperate for someone to love him, then exploiting and warping his affection, one of the only things that remains healthy about him, warping it to where he can't understand his own sexuality anymore is pretty brutal. Nagito loving despair is something he can accept, but loving Junko is so fundamentally mind boggling that he goes spiraling when he thinks about it. The idea of Junko convincing a gay man he loves her and robbing an important part of himself from him is super interesting. Also just him never really showing any interest in a woman but showing interest in hajime and Izuru gives that impression. But don't let me discourage you that's just my opinion! His sexuality is not confirmed in any way and that is my interpretation. Just wanted to touch upon that to give insight on what I think just in case it makes me sound too biased at any point in this discussion.
I think making Chiaki real and using her again plot wise to use the same strong suit of her character, empathy, can be seen as a little clumsy. Although I do thoroughly enjoy the fact that Hajime heard her advice but only truly understood it in Danganronpa 2 after she was gone. It's really tragic and I enjoy that Ai Chiaki and Real life Chiaki are indeed different. It's a little indecent but I enjoy the story of the franchise overall.
If I'm honest I think a lot of things about hope's peak in general are detrimental to Nagito because his world view is specifically influenced by Hope's peak. Nagito believes Chiaki is an "embodiment of hope" for the class and likes her status and impact on everyone. Junko sees her the same way and wants to crush that so called hope to create despair for the class! I think that all makes sense and is decently done considering the characters and world. It's important to remember hope is practically absolute good, and Chiaki was just an absolutely good person to the class and when that's lost it creates despair. Even those who she wasn't really That close with, like Nagito, respected her and her impact a lot! Enough to be devastated and have the brainwashing work more.
Chiaki serves a purpose and I think criticism with the fact that she mostly is there to be the support role and impact for everyone else is absolutely valid. My only personal criticism is I'd like to have seen the different ways the class cared for Chiaki, basically just how close each person individually was with her. I'd like to have seen more of their hangouts to know that, but I understand it's an anime recapping a story with limited time. They spend episodes expressing how much they all cared but not how personally close they were, so the fact all of them cared so much isn't entirely sold for a lot of people including me at first. You kind of have to infer a lot which is a little sad? It's for a lack of words a missed opportunity I think.
Fanfics do a really good job at showing those things the anime misses about real life Chiaki, and honestly overall I'd say Chiaki is most often well characterized in fanfics! I think a despair Chiaki is an interesting idea too like you said, you'd have to explain how they became despairs without her though. But fanfics are all about being creative and it's an au in the first place so I'm sure people can figure it out and have fun! All of it is interesting fun ideas and I'm glad you and your writer friend are having fun and enjoy the ship.
I do think the dialogue they've come up with is pretty interesting and a cool approach to an au like that. "...And I'm sorry that wasn't enough for me," feels a little odd for him to say to me at least? I mean, I definitely don't know the direction or the entirety of the work that led to that interaction though of course, and I think it's definitely interesting dialogue, but for Nagito to say that feels a little off for me personally. Like, I think after rehabilitation supposedly it would go something like the Dangan Islands where he learns Hope was inside him all along through spending time with Hajime.
"You provoked the hope that was already inside all of our hearts Chiaki, and for that I am grateful. We all fell to despair, but the hope always wins, Right?" or something like that feels better to me personally but I'm just being silly and don't know the full context anyway
Thank you for your ask, please let me know if I misinterpreted anything you said and didn't respond accordingly, It was nice reading somebody else's take on things and trying to respond with mine as respectfully as I could <3

you said that you "need 2 characters to deeply care for each other and positively impact each other for me to want to ship them" so which of the twdg canon ships do you actually think work/make sense? and by canon ships i mean like actual established relationships, implied relationships or perhaps a character that was crushing on someone else before death.
me immediately blanking on every relationship in twdg upon reading this ask
the only one i stand behind with conviction is clemvi. idk if you need me to explain why i feel like ive done it a million times by now 👀 but yeah theyre the only relationship i "Ship" in regards to the quote where i see them as a match for each other and think romance makes sense for both parties
as for some "in defense of"s
i'll defend javi and kate. my only Real problem with them is how they handle david in it like girl can you at least take off the wedding ring before we kiss 😭 my brother still thinks youre his wife (plus they did push it Really hard.. but like.. narratively i understand why they did. family is a running theme of the series and javi and davids relationship is like the main conflict). but like. kate and javis relationship Makes Sense. she had a shit husband (who wanted to go back to the army anyway). her and javi already had the beginnings of Something before the outbreak even happened. she was left with javi to take care of 2 children that werent even biologically hers (i enjoy the complex family dynamics in twdg as a whole). and together theyve been surviving for years as a family unit. i think javi having feelings isnt up for debate, its more just will he act on those feelings or will he respect his brother? and like.. fuck david am i right? kate was Not happy in that relationship and deserves better, and javi cares about her. but also the pressure from their dad to get along after hes gone. it all works for me even if it couldve been executed better
and i .... sigh .... Understand gabe and clem. BUT!!! i think they have different feelings towards each other and its an important distinction. gabe definitely has a huge crush on her, shes cool as hell, but i think her feelings in return are fueled by hormones and the fact that she hasnt been around anyone her own age since DUCK (sarah was 15 at the time). like. does she think hes cute? yeah. but he can also be kind of a huge jerk sometimes and acts recklessly. i think its those moments that snap clem out of it lol. seeing this response in S4 felt vindicating im taking it as sad loner clem having a hormone induced crush. like girl yes or no?? this is the most direct option??
Tumblr media
personally i dont like them together because i Hate tropes where the more mature girl half has to teach the immature boy half to grow up and be capable and thats somehow romantic. ESPECIALLY in clems case where she is literally already raising someone like her hands are full ok. her assuaging his ego makes me 🤢 girl you dont have to take that second gun just because he was gonna cry about it if you didnt. its just not romantic to me. also i think its soooo funny that clem uses the same tactic on gabe that she does on aj in S4 with the "i need you to watch my back" to stop him from complaining about being left behind at the gate LOL. also i just think he loves his dad too much who clem hates more than anyone on earth so like.. theres that
uuhhh who else... alvin and rebecca are fine. like i have nothing to say about them but i believe their relationship and think they wouldve been good parents to aj. hmmm.... i guess thats it for the ones i have defenses for?? the others just like.. exist. like im neutral

It may be several weeks late, but
Here’s why claiming that Revan would be Mand’alor after they defeated Mand’alor the Ultimate is an ahistorical take in-universe!
Before I get to the actual meat of this, some disclaiming: everybody should do whatever they want forever and fuck canon and all that, I just like it when people know (and can therefore nod at) how exactly they’re fucking canon
A lot of people look at Mandalorian culture and note that Death Watch would follow whoever wins a 1v1 fight for possession of the Darksaber, and figured something like that would apply to all of Mandalorian history. Darth Revan managed to defeat Mand’alor the Ultimate in single combat, so there are a fair few posts and fanfics out there about how funny it would be if the Neo-crusaders treated them like the Mand’alor. But, there are three big reasons why Revan wouldn’t count as Mand’alor after defeating Ultimate: contemporary Mandalorian succession, reactions from Mandalorians in KOTOR, and the details of their duel itself. I’m starting with contemporary Mandalorian succession, because that’s the one I’ve put the most thought into
So, how has the Mand’alor been decided in the eras surrounding Revan? Well, Revan was early enough that we can start with Mand’alor the First, who became Mand’alor for unknown reason, and carved a mask out of a Mythosaur’s bones that would later be known as the Troan (face) be (of) Mand’alor. Next up is Conquerer, who existed and started the Crusades. Again, no data on succession. The next notable Mand’alor is Indomitable, who rose through the military ranks (and was a competent warrior and leader), and at some point got the Troan be Mand’alor. This is the first instance we see of Mandalorian succession being dictated by an item, but it’s important to note that the mask is not a hard and fast rule the same way Death Watch treated the Darksaber as, which we know because of our next Mand’alor, Ultimate.
Legends is actually a little bit vague on whether or not Ultimate has THE Troan, or just a very similar mask; Indomitable fell in battle over Dxun, and some Taung warrior found the Troan and put it on, proclaiming themself Mand’alor. While Legends implies (and has done some retconning to strengthen the idea) that that warrior was Ultimate, it’s also possible that they were Unidentified Mandalore, the last Taung to hold the title of Mand’alor. If this were the case (as was originally implied), they spent several years afterwards wandering the surface of Dxun, before being found by Canderous Ordo, and Ultimate rose to power through their skill as a leader and vision for the feature alone (which I personally find to be much more compelling than “they picked up the mask off the ground and said ‘guess I’m the boss now!’”). Regardless, Ultimate was defeated in their battle with Revan, and nobody claimed the Troan until Canderous Ordo, Mand’alor the Preserver, who incorporated the Troan be Mand’alor into his helmet, and was the last Mand’alor to use the Troan as a symbol of their rule. Depending on your interpretation, Revan either brought Canderous to where they had hidden the Troan after beating Ultimate, and then he kinda just. Fucked around until he found the Unidentified Mandalore, and then locked in, OR he found the Unidentified Mandalore who gave him the mask along with a task to reunite their people so that they can survive. After Canderous, the next major Mand’alor was Mand’alor the Lesser, who got really popular in the gladiatorial arenas of Geonosis because the Sith set that up for him. He ended up being called the Lesser because he spent his time ruling as a Sith puppet, making contracts for them to use the mercenary armies of Mandalore for very very cheap. He was immediately followed by Vindicated, who earned his title for killing Lesser and immediately negotiating much better contracts with the Sith. This is the first example we have of the title being passed on after a 1v1 fight, and it takes place roughly 400 years after Revan’s win. Vindicated was succeeded by Shae Vizla (not Vizsla), Mand’alor the Avenger, who is. Honestly an underrated character, looking at her accomplishments, and who was chosen as leader after Vindicated’s death due to her stellar reputation. She’s the third to last Mand’alor to be confirmed as existing before the Ruusaan Reformations, the other two being an unidentified Mand’alor who did. Very little, and Aga Awaud, who brought the Mandalorians through the Candorian Plague, and took the title 1051 BBY, which was 51 years before the Ruusaan Reformations.
That’s a fair bit of data! The conclusion that comes from it is that a Mand’alor isn’t confirmed simply by beating the previous one or having a specific item; they have to have a vision or plan to help their people, and have popular support. Vindicated wanted to fix the shit contracts they had with the Sith (and Lesser was already quite unpopular), so he had a follow-through that got him his following. Revan… didn’t. They didn’t claim the title, regardless of if they had the mask, and they didn’t have a plan for the Mando’ade. So, that’s count one for Not Mand’alor
Secondly, which I’ll go into much less detail for, the only Mandalorian in KOTOR who shows any loyalty towards Revan is Canderous Ordo, and that was respect from one warrior to another, not proclaiming them Mand’alor. All the Mandalorian Raiders just tried to kill the party 😔
And lastly, let’s look at the terms of Ultimate and Revan’s duel: Ultimate, whose ships were vastly outnumbered by the Rrpublic, challenged Revan to single combat for the outcome of the battle, not the other way around. Even if dueling for the title was typical at the time, it would have to have been a challenge for the title, and the terms Ultimate set forward did not include that. All that was on the line was two lives and the outcome of the battle, and Ultimate lost
So yeah, Revan shouldn’t really be considered Mand’alor, unless you, with full knowledge of what you’re doing, say “fuck canon I like this better.” Have fun!

Revisiting Suicide Room (2011)
Tumblr media
Watch the same movie at age 12, 19, 25 - you'll react to it differently.
Two nights ago I watched a Polish movie with my art school friend S called the Suicide Room (Sala Samobójców). I’d seen this movie before about 5 times. The movie is about a gay high schooler called Dominik who gets "outed" by his former friend in an embarrassing public accident, is made the laughingstock of his class, and spirals into a depression. He seeks refuge in an online VR game where he meets a depressed girl who seems to understand him... As the movie goes on, he gets more sucked into the virtual world and loses touch with the outside world.
It's a film that seems to have gained a bit of a following in certain circles. It's criticized for the same drama that its followers praise it for -- depicting what it's like to have teenage depression. And all at once I am puzzled by this supposed "charge" against the movie: that it's melodramatic. The fact that there seems to be such a clean divide between older people calling it over-the-top and funny, an exercise in teens taking themselves so seriously, and teenagers idolizing the characters for being true-to-life, indicates to me this movie IS effective at highlighting some kind of bridge in preferences or empathy.
What does it mean for a film to be overdramatic?
I mean, this isn't the first teen movie to be called sentimental, melodramatic. As for myself, the film has lost the poignancy it once had but I am still incredibly fond of it.
This was my favorite movie as a teenager. At age 14, I begged my mom to be homeschooled. My overworked single mom panicked - a straight-A student threatening not to go to school was unheard of. The school administration freaked, set up "counseling" sessions where all they could do was talk glibly, soullessly, about the importance of education.
I remember watching Suicide Room that night and telling my mom I was perfectly willing to write a 5-page essay on my own on how the film was so beautiful and truthful and that if all English assignments were like this I would have no problems with school. I learned so much more through empathizing with the characters of Dominik and Sylwia than I learned through any school assignment. (It's interesting how this film works - it distracts you from your own pain by convincing you to, for an hour and 30 minutes, sympathize with another person. You come into the film wanting vindication, but you come away from it feeling like you lost a friend. I wanted to save Dominik.)
The fact that teenage angst seems to be near-universal, and the fact that adults eventually overcome it (I'd argue they don't actually, as many adults seem to be living in some kind of low-grade feelinglessness) doesn't suggest to me at all that the pain teens face is out of proportion, or that teens lack "perspective." It suggests rather, that perhaps adults have lost the memories of what it's like as a teenager, or they have lost sympathy towards that time of their life, since many people seem so embarrassed by their high school selves they try to scrub clean any memories of them.
I guess I can talk a little more about the main character in the film, Dominik. He is an entitled, condescending, sheltered kid. He nonetheless has a deep desire to connect with another human being. In the depths of his pain he turns to Sylwia who at first seems to be the provider of psychological support (and this time around, I picked up on this more strongly) - Dominik's redemption lies in the fact that he was willing to sacrifice himself to alleviate the pain of someone he thought had it worse than him. But his deepest flaw was not realizing that he had it worse.
Isn't that what happens? Your immediate environment fails you so you turn to the Internet. You find a community. You're led there by your own pain but you stay because you empathize with others' pain. But to break free of the pain means to break free of community.
Tumblr media
A very clever scene exists in the movie. Sylwia is using Dominik to get herself pills so she can overdose. Torn between the threat of her hate and his fear of losing her to suicide, he talks to his psychiatrist through the closed door of his room while being in a voice call with Sylwia. The psychiatrist doesn't realize his answers have the double intention of showing Sylwia that ultimately, he will do as she wishes (get the pills), but not without stating his piece. He says he doesn't want to die. He doesn't understand suicide. His voice strains and he starts tearing up as he speaks to both - he doesn't understand how people who commit suicide could do that to their loved ones.
I've always wanted to stay up all night with Dominik. As a teen I wished I could pause the movie and jump in-universe and get through to him somehow, before the fatal incident. I told him I would stay up all night with him and we could just talk about, you know, life and death and beauty and our willingness to live, because sometimes you just need a friend.
So the film is dramatic. That’s what it takes to save a life.

Tumblr media
it's actually been leaked for some time, although — and not to sound whiny — any time i've posted it or just talked about it i've gotten 10+ anonymous messages telling me i'm the devil and ruining the establishment of taskmaster with my irresponsible gossiping. so i didn't post about it and deleted any of the asks/convo about the new cast, even though ofc everyone has had tonsss of thoughts about it 😅
anyways would have laid down my whole life betting john robins (one of THE most obvious future tm contestants, being such a good friend of alex's!) and joanne mcnally would be on so i feel very vindicated — and excited! — in that regard! we're gonna have a great time :)
someone sent an anon asking about people i'd bet — not who i want, but who i'd bet — would be on the show so i'll think more about that and post later this week! the series will def have more seasons so i'll try and get some guesses in heh
Tumblr media
OMG ME TOO her name is mabel! she's sooooooo cute ≧◡≦
Tumblr media
hello anon!! actually you don't need me for this, it was recently posted on tv_bunny :)
enjoy!
Tumblr media
she's great! she reminds me a lot of roisin, in that when she's not doing her semi-pre-written joke material, she's supremely good at hanging, bantering, fitting in with the vibe. i really appreciate that when it comes to panel shows particularly! but i can't say i've seen much of her standup
(wait — can i digress for a second — roisin is one of the ONLY recurring catsdown contestants who actually brings in sensible mascots that have the purpose of helping her/bringing her luck, and her presentations of them are always so hilarious and she deserves more credit for that)
+ not important but i really like her voice
Tumblr media
thank you for sending her well wishes <3
i appreciate the message and you weren't the only person to say this, but i think some people are only part-way informed as to her journey reclaiming her name. her intention was never to scrap the nickname shappi or stop people from calling her that; it was 1) to reconcile her experience growing up in the uk with her name and how that led to her committing to shappi as a teen, and 2) to be published, credited, and billed as shaparak in professional capacities. she has clarified many times, including here and here, that it is totally acceptable to call her shappi; people on tv & radio still call her shappi after formal introductions, like in the new wilty when everyone calls her shappi throughout the entire episode; her social media handles are still shappi; and so on. she's shaparak, but that doesn't mean she "no longer goes by shappi". there is some confusion here i think some people are taking her journey, which was lovely to follow, as rejecting shappi — but that isn't the case.
i already updated her tag to 'shaparak khorsandi' a while ago and would definitely credit her full name where necessary, but socially, colloquially, like in the quick text post i made asking people to give shappi some love, there is no disrespect in calling her that! of course, plenty of people are credited by one name and are regularly called another/a nickname, like olivia colman who is actually called sarah by her family and colly by most everyone else. she seems really happy with having done her book and her recent show under her full name, and it's been beautiful to see her come around to love shaparak as much as she has loved shappi :')
btw for anyone who doesn't know, shaparak means butterfly in farsi!
Tumblr media
hahahahaha that is hilarious
long story short is just that keith lemon is a disreputable character (and i mean character literally, he's not real, he's played by leigh francis!) who spends a lot of his energy shouting and oogling over boobies etc
Tumblr media
i think it's fair to say hating on white supremacists does bring us all together 😅
Tumblr media
i'm sorry i haven't seen it! but ugh tamsin greig is one of my longest-time crushes fr i actually think the friendship between her and stephen mangan is one of my roman empires. i have a list of scripted tv rewatches i plan to do this year — the thick of it, peep show, and so on, some of my faves ever — and green wing is def on the list so maybe i'll add friday night dinner!

Living in a developing country myself, surrounded by poverty and hardships, I am sure it needs to be said: Not being invested in the lives and deaths of rich people (yes, I do mean generally wealthy people) is one thing.
Laughing at, mocking, and making memes about their possible demise and now confirmed demise is another level of gross lack of basic respect. Yes, you will not catch the common crowd in such conditions. Yes, the Titanic is considered a gravesite. What do we do when we don't actually care or sympathize with someone at all who died? You ignore them. People can mock the most heinous, pedophiles, sex offenders of any kind- sure. But these people, I'm willing to bet most of us don't know them personally. Nothing I've seen indicated that they deserved one of the worst experiences ever. It baffles me. I've seen all the takes imaginable, from how these people "had it coming" and "they don't deserve that kind of attention that should be put on something more important." I've seen genuinely stupider scenarios and it all ends the same. With all of them dead and the families mourning. There's no change, justice or vindication in that.
The bodies on that submarine will likely be found obliterated... You can't really take back those kinds of remains to the family unless you want them to do it thoroughly which I doubt they'll do... so guess there's not much closure for the families either.
Then there's the "issue" with the supposed news coverage. I only heard about this incident through the memes. The incident with the refugees, I caught wind of through public outcry. I genuinely don't see how people are somehow "putting more importance on a bunch of scummy millionaires than a hundreds of refugees."
I care about both honestly. The world is going to shit and I can't care less about how rich someone is when something horrific happens.
"Eat the rich" this "Eat the rich" that. You laughing at their deaths ain't gonna distribute the wealth to the poor or tell the goverment to give a shit about the poverty and strife-ridden areas. All you guys are doing are showing how little you care about their lives and their loved ones.
I'm real sick of the blatant disregard for people dying just because the people were rich and reckless (and probably disrespectful, depending on how you look at it).
Save your clowning to yourself, honestly, you guys are insensitive. It's not funny, not even a little bit.

Sansa hasn’t done anything of note tho so can you explain for got you to like her I guess
Define "of note" for me, please?
Sansa is a marvelously interesting character to me. It's a subtle, internal and slow-growing arc, one about the world below the surface of passivity, about perseverance, about self-worth and the power of storytelling.
I absolutely love what GRRM is doing with her. People overlook her importance because she doesn't yet have the power to "do anything of note" in their eyes, so they miss what GRRM is trying to say about learning by observation, about needing to depend on others, about having faith in ideals even in the face of adversity, about how stories shape human interaction with the world.
Other characters (and plenty of readers) mock or condemn Sansa for her interests and her ideals, but GRRM most decidedly doesn't. They are among her greatest strengths and GRRM is celebrating them by showing us how they help her survive, not just physically but emotionally as well. Her love for the world and the beauty it contains has become more melancholy over time, but it remains. It is tempered by disappointment but stronger for it, because it is a choice.
There is a sense of vindication for GRRM's own inner child hanging in the air of her chapters. The kind that you gain with the confidence of age.

Video
youtube
Just stumbled into this video of a guy who didn’t play the original game until like... after Sprit Tracks and Skyward Sword and it’s a pretty good watch if you feel like you need to be sold on the original Legend of Zelda, or if you already love the original Legend of Zelda and you just want to feel vindicated ( like me )
I always give people who are trying to get into this game a ton of gameplay tips, like how you can only find one secret per screen and no secrets if there’s already a cave or dungeon there,  or how you can only bomb dungeon walls directly in the center, or how different enemies are more likely to drop different items...
But this guy’s perspective offered some tips I never thought to give that aren’t gameplay related at all but are just as important and it’s something I can kind of struggle with, and is something I didn’t really struggle with until I grew older and was able to buy and download a ton of games.
The tip being that you have to make the decision to sit down and play the game with the intent to finish it.  Not to just pick it up and play it a bit. Because you have soooo many games at your finger tips, so why bother learning how this one works when you can just walk away forever at the first moment of frustration or a lull in the action/progression?   Now that I have a huge game library of both new and old games, i’ve fallen into that trap countless times and just never sat down with intent to finish unless it was a game I was already familiar with, or a new game I was hyped for after months of marketing and trailers.
That tip is pretty brilliant, because it’s true, today, it’s easier than ever to amass a huge library of games and not have to commit to any of them.  And I don’t think that’s a good way to experience gaming as a hobby at all.
I talked about this on my general gaming blog, but I have started a project that has been a big help with this problem.  I’ve downloaded as many issues of Nintendo Power Magazine as a I can, and I’m going in chronological order ( though I suppose you could also pick at random ) and I’m choosing at least two games from the issue to play, with intent to finish those games. I cannot move on to the next issue without finishing at least one game featured in an issue.  And i’ve played a ton of games to completion that I never really would have finished otherwise.  And I’m having fun with them too... not to say I haven’t rage quit a few times as well.  Ikari Warriors can suck a fat one, and while Air Forrtess is fun, it got a little too tough half way in.  But more often than not, i’m able to stick with these games.
Anyway, just watch the video I guess.  Or go play Zelda.

Light Bringer predictions post
I’ve been jotting down notes all day, trying to remember all my big and little predictions for Light Bringer. Some of these have already been discussed to death, some have been idle thoughts floating in my head. But I want to write it all out before LB finally comes out, so I can look back on this and either laugh at my naivete or feel vindicated by my genius.
I’m sure I’m still forgetting some things, so I may end up editing this later.
The new POV is either Diomedes or Volga.
Two or more POVs interact.
Light Bringer starts off in some way no one has theorized, because that's what Pierce Brown does best. (This happened with Dark Age too.)
Pierce Brown introduces even more plot points that won't be resolved until Red God.
There will absolutely be at least three huge things happen that no one predicted or even considered might happen. This is how Pierce Brown do.
Not everything will be resolved by the end of Light Bringer. (This is a given of course; I mean some of the things people are theorizing or want won't happen until next book.)
The Morning Star was originally commissioned by Octavia as a gift to Lysander. Since it is now in enemy hands, it is repaired and handed over to Lysander, as the "rightful" owner.
Cicero becomes important.
Someone we don't expect is sympathetic to the Republic, or is otherwise an unexpected Reformer (ie not Diomedes because everyone suspects him).
There is an epic showdown at Lorn's castle, or on Europa in general.
Rhonna and Char survived and fight on Mercury still.
Holiday remains true to the ideals of the Republic; she was never a traitor, and the people who keep repeating that theory despite having zero evidence will finally shut the fuck up.
We learn more about whatever Oculus is and what Quicksilver's intentions are.
Mickey comes back.
Evey comes back.
Evey is working with the remaining Sons in the Rim.
Faust/The Duke of Hands comes back.
Deanna dies. Holiday dies. Screwface, Pebble, and/or Clown die. I don’t want these to happen but I also don’t want to think about what kind of death made Pierce Brown cry. I don’t truly think any of these would really make him cry, but this is as close as I want to get to considering what the real answer is.
Lysander plots to kill Atalantia.
Atalantia becomes pregnant with Lysander's child but dies by DNA poison backfire.
Atalantia dies, Atlas remains alive to deal with in Red God.
Lysander gets worse, despite the guilt over Cassius.
Lysander doesn't face consequences yet but the winds shift against him.
Ajax seeks revenge on Lysander.
Ajax and Diomedes bond as cousins. Alternatively, they duel, but I think that is too obvious.
Ajax joins Darrow (out of revenge against Atalantia, not love for the Republic).
Cassius confronts Lysander. In person? Over holos? It is epic and emotional.
Pytha turns against Lysander and returns to the Archimedes. Alternatively, she remains with Lysander as a spy for Cassius.
Darrow and Cassius have a heart to heart.
Cassius talks to his mom. For better or worse. Julia will help Cassius despite hating the Republic because he is her only remaining family.
Cassius finds closure with Virginia.
Diomedes/Cassius or Screwface/Cassius becomes canon. Listen, I know these have a snowball's chance in hell, but I can dream.
We get a detailed explanation of how Cassius escaped the Rim. Either Diomedes and Aurae worked together, or Aurae worked independently. There’s not enough information yet to guess.
Cassius meets Pax and Electra; Pax has a celebrity crush on him but Electra is not happy, since Cassius literally murdered her grandpa.
Cassius demonstrates that he has matured as a person.
Cassius faces consequences for killing Fitchner or otherwise expresses regret for doing so.
Cassius returns to Eagle Rest. He repairs it and the city ransacked by Fa.
Lyria finds Volga and they kick Fa's ass together.
Lyria and Volga fall in love.
Volga is changed by her time with Fa, more hardened, but Lyria brings out her kindness again.
Volga gets that damn farm, and a womb, and has a child.
Volga’s heart being on the opposite side becomes plot relevant when Fa tries to kill her but goes for the wrong side of her chest.
Volga becomes queen of the Obsidian.
Valdir shows up again and joins Darrow.
Valdir is confirmed to love Darrow romantically.
Fa is being slowly poisoned by the DNA poison in Sefi after eating her heart. Alternatively, Fa does not get sick, proving he is not her real father.
Pax is involved in the war effort somehow. Maybe helping Lyria? Darrow has complex emotions about this.
Darrow is able to show Pax that he still has his hoverbike key and it's a touching father/son moment.
Darrow and Pax ride the hoverbike together again -- for fun? In battle?
Pax makes more friends his age. Diomedes' younger siblings? Baldur comes back??
Pax struggles with the weight of essentially sending Ephraim to his death; logically he knows it’s not his fault, and that Ephraim knew the risks, but by god, Pax is only a child. Darrow is able to help ease his distress with an epic dad speech or something.
Pax kicks the Abomination's ass.
The Abomination becomes good, or otherwise decides being the Jackal sucks, actually
Lilath dies for real. Painfully. But definitively.
Atlas is the big bad; a blind spot even in the Jackal's plans.
Virginia and Victra save Sevro.
Darrow and Cassius save Sevro.
Sevro is brainwashed by the Jackal and Virginia has to fix him.
Sevro learns what happened to Ulysses. Pierce Brown writes this scene in such a profoundly sad way, the entire the fandom dies instantly.
Darrow and Sevro have a heart to heart.
The Darrow/Sevro/Cassius trio do something epic again, like they did when they stole the Minerva standard in the first book. I am starving for these three.
Cassius is jealous of Darrow/Sevro. I think that would be very funny.
Virginia and Victra bash sisters moment.
Virginia and Victra actually become friends, not friends by virtue of their husbands being best friends.
Mars becomes the capital of the Republic under Virginia.
PsychoSpike tech comes back in a big way, as either a boon or a detriment to the Republic.
Victra is called on by Volga and Lyria to fulfill her promise to aid them whenever they need it.
Darrow and/or Victra will face (or at least be threatened with) consequences for the destruction of the Docks of Ganymede.
Eagle Rest becomes a campus to teach lowcolors important life skills they might lack, following what Sefi was doing for Obsidians, but expanding the idea.
Rhea is resurrected and becomes habitable again; possibly a new home for the Obsidian, depending on how the Rim ends up.
Diomedes joins the Republic/Darrow.
Diomedes is captured by Darrow's crew and comes to an understanding with them while in captivity.
Diomedes discovers Atlas' plans, which include destroying the Rim, which motivates him to join Darrow.
Diomedes becomes Sovereign of the Rim.
Aurae joins the Republic/Darrow with Diomedes. Alternatively, Aurae is revealed to be a Sons of Ares agent, perhaps one of the survivors of the SOA purge in the Rim.
In Iron Gold, Aurae played music during the dinner scene. So my predication is, if she joins Darrow's crew, she will entertain them with music. idk I just think that would be a nice moment.
Diomedes is confirmed to love Aurae (beyond Lysander assuming so for a brief sentence), or at least this is expanded on in some way.
Apollonius tries to duel Diomedes but the latter is Not Interested in a moment of comedy.
Reaperstang reunion??? Please???
We see more of the Raa family, and get to know established members better. Vela, Gaia, Diomedes' remaining siblings, etc.
Virginia, Diomedes, and Volga become a Triumvirate, ruling over Republic, Rim, and Obsidian factions respectfully, in a peaceful political alliance, rather than warring to get everyone under the same empire banner again.
Big damn Reaperstang reunion kiss.
At the end of it all, somehow Darrow's banishment is the only way to maintain peace.
Darrow is believed to be dead throughout Light Bringer, until an epic reveal at the very end. This miraculous second resurrection is why he is the Red God.
