I love the "ARK siblings" concept and I love cute lighthearted fanart of them being siblings but I feel like a lot of people forget that they literally canonically share a soul and that her death is, in my opinion, I think supposed to represent a part of one's self dying and that they're supposed to be, symbolically, a lot more than siblings.

I always saw Shadow's story as a symbolic way to express the way your inner child and innocence is sacrificed in order to survive complex childhood trauma. Maria's color scheme and the way she's written is, I think, clear to all of us how she's meant to represent innocence and youth. I mean, she doesn't really function very well as a stand-alone character or realistic depiction of a child, shes always been more of an.. idea.

I'm not sure if it was purposeful, but the moon's "Maria" are craters that formed from the moon repeatedly taking the hits of asteroids at it's points of gravity. These points of gravity attract asteroids and draws then away from the Earth. The craters are mostly on the side of the moon we see, so the dark side of the moon, or "shadowed" side is better protected because of that. I feel like this is an extension of Shadow and Maria's symbolism. She took the bullet for him, protecting him, the same way Maria takes the comets, and the same way your brain will sacrifice your inner child (or freeze/rush your mental development) in order to survive intense childhood abuse. I know it all sounds extreme lmao but at the end of the day characters and storytelling are used to explore and express hard emotions and I don't think this randomly tragic character sprung out of nowhere for the Sonic games, which, before that point, always had very lighthearted positive characters (except for the echidna extinction in the game right before Shadow's). Having a character that was easy to approach, yet could represent scarier concepts as a child-friendly stand-in, felt like a very important tool to me growing up. I just hope that that writing can be appreciated in his character, with an understanding of how messy production can be and how a character can get pulled between many different people and ideas. I do think this symbolism was intentional to some degree, especially when it gets to the blatant soul-sharing and how characters insist that Shadow can't be a weapon because Maria's soul (his inner child and true morals despite the damage done to him) makes him "good hearted."

There's other things that uphold this symbolism of Maria dying as representing his inner child being killed, like the rushed/suspended mental development in the face of trauma being illustrated by the fact that Shadow was forced into a dormant cyro slumber right after Maria's death, symbolizing the way he had to basically skip childhood or hit pause on development until he could escape the people controlling him. Much like how victims will have to pause everything and go on autopilot with only a goal of survival until they can escape their situation; only after they feel safe can they begin growing as a person and find their identity. In the Japanese language, there are different types of pronouns people can refer to themselves with instead of just "I" or "myself." In the Japanese dub of SA2, Shadow's creator said in an interview that he had been very insistent on Shadow using the pronouns reserved for young boys, despite Shadow's menacing villain role in the game, because he felt it was important to show Shadow's purity and his lack of experience in life so far. That "live and learn" theme.

And then in his self titled game, Shadow is searching for a way to reconnect with his past and to find the truth about this Maria person he keeps seeing in flashbacks, but in the end he throws away her picture and accepts himself as he is now, forever changed and stained by his past, but more than just a product of his situation. He is "all of him," including the negative impact he never asked for, and including the parts of himself he lost, but also the parts of himself he chose to become. Your environment and childhood shapes you even if you didn't want it to, but that doesnt mean you cant have control in your identity and recover your inherent nature once you've escaped the negative influence (nature vs nurture theme). He will never be the person he used to be, or could have been, (represented by Maria as a pure and untouched youth), but he still has a say in what that grows into.

I just feel like a lot of Shadow's identity issues and inner conflict stem from this whole soul sharing situation with Maria and that his character ends up inevitably being misunderstood if you water them down to just siblings. Especially considering that it was never answered if Shadow actually even ever met Maria or if they're just memories planted by Gerald or caused by the shared soul. In Sonic Battle, it's also said in Gerald's diary that not only do Maria and Shadow share identical souls, but that Gerald literally modeled Shadow after Maria out of his love for her. I'm not sure to what degree or in what ways, but Shadow is supposed to share purposeful similarities with Maria, likely through the content of her character and her morals. That's what makes them so much deeper than just psuedo siblings, he's not only made for her, but designed after her too. It can't really be compared to, for example, Sonic and Tails.

I also think its what makes Shadow's character so substantial and meaningful. His self titled game's entire theme was purity, morals, what is good and bad. This question of purity and morality spreads into his appearances in other stories too- This question that, if you were badly hurt in your youth and shaped by evil- does that leave you impure? Stained? Destined to continue that cycle of harm and cruelty? I think these insecurities feel very real and relatable, and that it's even more realistic that despite these insecurities, that hurt and damage is actually what fuels him to protect others. Just as he said in Sonic Battle, "There's no need to repeat past tragedies! Nobody else ever needs to go through the things that I have!"

Statistically (despite media portrayal) abuse victims RARELY become abusers, because they understand the pain on a deeper level and can't bring themselves to force someone else into experiencing that same pain, knowing the permanent damage it causes. However, childhood abuse leaves people socially stunted and conditioned to harshness, which causes them to accidentally hurt others without meaning to. Or they end up hurting people out of desperation if they feel endangered (like Shadow's "means to an end" approach where he'll prioritize violence if it means reducing the end-impact). Also, they are more susceptible to being abused again after escaping the first abuser, because they are so susceptible to manipulation- Just like how whenever Shadow does switch sides, its usually because someone manipulated him into it or literally brainwashed him. I think Shadow conveys all of this so well, and that Maria's true role is an integral part of it all that can't be ignored or misunderstood, or else Shadow ends up reading as unnecessarily violent or overly obsessed with her when you interpret her as just a sister-figure that he knew for... who knows how few years.

I think this symbolism runs deep with his writing. Just like Maria's meant to be that inherent purity and inner child, I think the black arms DNA is that stain that abuse or trauma can leave on you, that causes you to act out or feel like you're always holding back and trying to keep control over some darker part of yourself that was left behind in the damage done. Especially since they literally have a mind link with Shadow. In the Sonic Universe comic, they succeed in brainwashing Shadow and turn him against his friends. These mind-links, soul-sharing, and brain-washing from both Gerald and the black arms... To disregard the fact that he's deeply connected to these people on a metaphysical, identity altering level is to water down his character and leave it feeling as though his motives are too weak to justify his harsh actions. I've seen people poke fun at his amnesia or insecurity in his identity, as though his confusion isn't justified, and I think it's because people don't realize he has these... literal fragments of other people inside of him, that that's pretty much what he's made of, kind of franken-steined together between a little girl's hopes and morals, an alien race's hivemind greed, a weapon-hungry government and a revenge maddened scientist's painful grief, and even the chaos emeralds which we all know are spiritually whacky and potentially connected to another alien race's memories and energies (the ancients from sonic frontiers). With all of that going on, plus some amnesia mixed in and his memories having been altered by Gerald- I mean.. you'd be searching for the "truth" of your identity too, who you really are. And of course, prone to frustration and aggression, or even a "wish-washy inconsistency." I think there's always a constant tug of war inside of him and that his whole development was a game of tug of war between Gerald, G.U.N and the black arms too. "Am I a cure, am I a death-bringer, am I earth's protector, am I it's destroyer," etc etc

Idk I just think a lot of problems people have with Shadow's writing stems from not realizing how deep things go and what they symbolize. Not to say that something like his boom characterization is of good quality or anything, but I think it's unfair to call him inconsistent when a confusion in his own identity and purpose/goals is kind of the point. And I think people not realizing Maria's deeper, physiological connection to him and influence might be part of the problem.

About Unions in France

I had this feeling when looking at the discourse that a lot of people reacting were likely american/used to american ways because a lot of the time they immediately jumped to "qsmp will get sued!" I know that while it's a possibility, it's also usually one of the last resorts when unions get involved... Like the point isn't to destroy a company as much as to make it a better workplace, unions don't want to take people's jobs away as much as ensure they get decent working conditions from my experience. Pretty sure the moment Quackity Studios improves and actually follow the laws, the Union will leave them be. It's more a way to apply pressure on them to do the right thing to begin with, and if the qsmp higher ups decide to ignore it then union negociations will have failed and it'll be time to involve the law.

Also union reps tend to be HR but for the employees, like when you get involved in any type of workplace issue here in France a union rep can and will come with you to face a supervisor and ensure you as an employee get proper advice on how to handle the situation, when HR seeks to minimise issues for the company... Like unions do a lot of cool stuff aside from strikes and lawsuits lmao.

This explains (in French) what unions do, and the first big point, "représentation des salariés et de défense de leurs intérêts (recueil des revendications, passage d'informations...) " explains that unions "represent employees and defend their interests (gathering their demands, sharing information); based on the message put out by the union involved, they're currently doing exactly that- trying to understand what the employee's demands are.

With their knowledge of French Law and the power given to unions here, they can then basically intercede for the employees (so Leasagne or Pomme's admin), making sure their working conditions actually follow the law, and doesn't cause them too much harm. Normally because it's not online, that's when you'd see people strike as an example. In the article they bring up petitions; I'm pretty sure the public attention is causing more than enough pressure on Quackity studio to give the Union quite the advantage in these negociations right now (which, ironically, is similar to the effect a strike should have, like when the trains stop running the goal isn't just to fuck with people trying to go to work, it's meant to bring attention to an issue. For the trains it's just they do it so often it mostly makes them look like dicks by now- but that's a personal opinion and I'm getting very sidetracked.)

On the topic of union the link shared also show other nifty things they do like they help with handling retirement funds, healthcare etc (actually another interesting point they might bring up with the qsmp; were they actually making sure to pay in to these funds like it's mandated when hiring someone in France? Since they weren't based in France it'd be interesting to see how this would usually go.)

happy 2 share but i will be putting it under a cut bc. a lot of people seem 2 think this movie is god's gift 2 earth and i am not in the mood 2 deal w barbie evangelists lol so if u do not want 2 see barbie movie criticism just scroll away

will preface by saying i enjoyed the movie i thought it was fun etc + i don't think there's anything wrong with enjoying it or finding it fun or even feeling very personally empowered/seen by what the movie had to say. that's all very nice on a personal level and i understand why so many people are finding the movie cathartic.

that being said i do not think the movie was feminist or subversive by a long shot and seeing so many people talk about how radical it was makes me feel like i'm being gaslit!!! like. did we watch different movies lmao. maybe i'd understand a little more why everyone was being taken in if barbie had like, gone to the real world and fought patriarchy in the movie--but she didn't even do that! they introduce the concept of real-world patriarchy only to have barbie go back to barbieland and destroy fake barbie patriarchy (which is rooted simply in one man's insecurity and easily resolved by gently encouraging him to seek self-worth outside his relationship--not exactly a cutting examination of the material investment that men have in patriarchy which makes it so difficult to challenge) and leave real-world patriarchy intact at the end (the big #feminist moment for real women is...mattel's sexist ceo saying he'll use a woman's idea for the next barbie, since he can make a lot of money off it? he doesn't even say he's going to pay her for the idea lmao).

so all in all the whole "barbie destroys patriarchy" bit of the movie just. did not feel particularly feminist to me beyond a very surface level acknowledgment that sexism exists and is bad. and like--i get that it's the barbie movie, and people could say "well of course it can't be that subversive but it did a good job for what it was!!" but i'm just like. ok yeah then let's call it what it was...instead of calling it subversive?? also every feminist message the movie tried to champion was immediately undermined by its fundamental investment in gender essentialism, which remains unchallenged throughout the whole film. like--barbies are literally canonically sexless and so u can't even try to argue that the gender binary which their society is based around is anything but 100% socially constructed, and we see that that gender binary affords privilege to some and not to others and also leads to ostracization of those who fail to conform to it, yet the happy ending of the movie is barbieland just...staying that way. and i feel like the movie then kinda says the quiet part out loud when barbie becomes a "real woman" by getting a vagina like...ok. lol

so like. even the interior politics of the film i struggle to understand how it could be considered groundbreaking feminism; and then when we zoom out and look at the material impact of the movie that just cements it as un-feminist to me. this is a really good article about the beauty standards being pushed + perpetuated by barbie marketing, and of course as with basically any hollywood movie the rich (and mostly rich men) will be getting richer, cycles of consumerism will be perpetuated, etc. honestly the "feminist" aspect of the film almost feels insidious to me in this context, as if it's meant to provide the catharsis of feeling like there's been some big challenge to patriarchy while quietly reinforcing the systems of oppression it publicly decries.

and like. at the end of the day i was not expecting barbie to be a subversive feminist film nor do i think it like...has a responsibility to be one. and it's nice that so many people feel like they're getting something out of it! but i think it's important to evaluate both the personal and societal impact of the media we're critiquing, and in that context it just seems silly to me to claim that barbie is subversive. i also find the amount of rhetoric i've seen about how the movie "encapsulates the female experience" so fucking irritating lmfao like...i am sorry but the idea that watching a group of hyperfeminine women flirt with men as a method of destroying patriarchy (<- not an exaggeration that is literally the plot. flirt with each other's boyfriends to make them jealous so they fight each other. zero lesbians in barbieland i suppose) is THE quintessential experience of #womanhood...well alright then.

What actually made me remember about it and think bout it more was the mars in 10h in his bpc.

The possibility of this happening is very likely and that's what is scary.

So I will first answer your "theory" (if we can call it this way because it is making much sense to me haha). So yeah, I agree with this. Mars indicates s3x but also powerful emotions, mostly anger, hate, fights, etc. It indicates our fight style, our way to deal with disagreements but where it's placed also tell us what could be making more disagreements in our life. In JK's BPC, it's in 10H in Gemini. To be honest, I wouldn't be shocked if this happened. This could indicate fights that are public and seen by the others. And with the gemini placement, it could indicates gossips and rumors. Without astrology and tarot, I think it's easy to know JK will have to face a lot of hardships when it comes to their relationship, people are noisy when it comes to their favorite celebrity, even more if they are jealous. The mars is in the same house as the sun here, making the gossips and rumors having an impact on her popularity. People will naturally talk about her, she just attracts the fame, benefits and cons obviously. She is meant to have fame one day, and mars in the same house literally means that it might be caused by the fights, gossips, rumors, jealousy of others. I'm not shocked at all. It will eventually happen. They are not even together yet that some poeple already hate her, or spread their jealousy everywhere. Funny thing how they wouldn't like it if that happened to them lmao.

Another point I wanted to make is that in the BPC, his Saturn is in the 8H, making her struggles usually with people's jealousy. She could attract a lot of enemies even without making it on purpose. She could be sexualized or just people thinking she cares only about money, or even treat her a wh*re.

Dragon Biology (Part 2): Skull Shapes

Hi everyone! I made a first post HERE where I explained that I wanted to do a breakdown of everything we know about dragon biology and the different variation we have. I just wanted to get into the science of it because I was curious, and I also wanted to see if the biological evidence provided support for any of the popular fan theories about which dragons might be related. As a reminder, here are the hypotheses we'll be investigating as we go along:

Vhagar -> Vermithor

Dreamfyre -> Sunfyre

Dreamfyre -> Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal

Syrax -> Arrax, Vermax, Tyraxes

In that first post, I discussed two aspects of dragon biology: Coloring, and size. Please check that one out first before reading this one, because I'll reference it in my final conclusions section! So let's get into it below the cut:

Dragon Skull Shape

Skull shape wasn't a category I'd really noticed, but the HotD showrunners explicitly said that they designed every dragon to have one of three skull shapes: That of a horse, that of a wolf, and that of a T-rex. As a side note, the easiest way to distinguish between these three is to look at the size of the forehead/nose bridge area, at the top of the head and kind of between the eyes. T-rex is the narrowest, and horse is the flattest/widest, with wolf as a kind of in-between. The jaw shapes are also slightly different, but I find the forehead the easiest way to tell. Also, remember that this describes general shape, and doesn't include any of the dragons' crests and horns, which have a lot more variation.

Let's start with the horse shape, with a very flat, wide space at the top of their heads, and a straight jaw with a more rounded chin. We have confirmation that Syrax is representative of this category:

These are the dragons whose visuals best fit that shape, with a picture of a horse skull for reference. This is interesting, because remember that the theory is that Vermax and Arrax might be Syrax's kids, and their shared skull shapes lend evidence to this theory.

Now let's move onto the wolf shape, with a slightly narrower space between the eyes and a straight, pointy chin:

These are the dragons whose visuals best fit that shape, with a picture of a wolf skull for reference. If you compare it with the T-rex shape below, you'll see that it looks fairly similar but has a few subtle differences; namely, that the top of the head is still flatter.

Finally, let's move onto the T-rex shape, with a very narrow space between the eyes and a more convex, sloping jawline with less emphasis on a super pointy chin. We have confirmation that Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal are meant to fit this shape:

(There's no picture of Viserion because I was being picky about the angle but we know he matches his brothers). I also think that Dreamfyre likely has this shape, going mostly off of her jaw. Again, this is interesting because of the theory that Dreamfyre was possibly the parent of Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal. The skull shape and crest situation definitely supports this theory.

There are two other dragons that I think fit this category; they look fairly different from these first three, but that's largely because of the crests along the jaw and forehead, not because of the actual contours of the skull. So let's take a look:

There's obviously still some variation within this category. I grouped Vhagar and Vermithor together because they resemble each other most strongly due to the lack of crests and horns (and also because otherwise the pictures would be too small lmao).

Final Conclusions

Okay so here I'm just going to go through all of the biological evidence we do or don't have for the hypothesis of dragon relations I mentioned at the beginning of this post. Then I'll combine this with any narrative evidence to provide an overall opinion on whether or not I believe each theory.

Vhagar -> Vermithor: Though not every aspect of their coloring is the same, the uniqueness of their scale color I think is cause to support these two being related. Both of these dragons are described as having the same size, which supports the theory. And finally, both dragons have not just the same skull shape, but the same presentation of crests and horns, which is distinct from the other dragons within their skull category. Overall, I think there's a fairly strong amount of biological evidence for this theory. Combined with the narrative evidence, and the fact that the ages line up, which I've discussed here, I firmly stand behind it.

Dreamfyre -> Sunfyre: There is some evidence within coloring (wings, specifically being the same pink color) to support them being related. These dragons are described as having the same size, which supports the theory. We'll have to wait until season two in order to make a determination about Sunfyre's skull shape, since we just have concept art that that's known to sometimes change a lot (think of the official Vhagar concept art, which looks fairly different from in the show). So for now, skull shape is inconclusive. The non-biological evidence for this theory is mainly the -fyre suffix at the ends of their names, as well as the fact that the ages line up just fine. Overall, I'm undecided on this theory, and want to wait until we see more of both dragons in season 2 of HotD.

Dreamfyre -> Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal: Coloring information reaffirms that the three brothers are related. In some ways (wing, eye, and crest color), it points to Dreamfyre possibly being their parent, but not definitively so. As mentioned above, I think size is inconclusive because though Drogon is bigger than Dreamfyre could have been at that age (she's definitively smaller than Balerion, who he's compared to), we don't know if Dreamfyre's size represents her true potential. The evidence behind the skull shape does actually support this theory; they not only share the same skull shape, but the same distinctive patterning of crests and horns along their jawline and likely their forehead. Because of the wing color, and because of just how unique their skull and crest patterns all are, I do lean towards believing this theory.

Syrax -> Arrax, Vermax, Tyraxes: Lastly, coloring doesn't provide positive evidence for Syrax being the parent of Arrax, Vermax or Tyraxes. But it does provide evidence that at least Arrax and Vermax are likely related, and probably as brothers, given what we observed about Dany's dragons. All of these dragons are described as having the same size, which supports the theory. They also have all of the same skull shapes, though Vermax and Arrax don't have the exact same crests that Syrax does (hers are very distinctive). So based on biology alone, I do believe Vermax and Arrax are brothers, and that they're likely Syrax's offspring because of their skull shape. And narratively I think the show has basically confirmed this, with the deliberate mention of Syrax's eggs being considered for baby Visenya in season 1 episode 10 of HotD. So overall, I stand behind this theory.

Chapter 2 is such a wonderful time, isn't it? It's lovely seeing the members flex their wings and influence a little bit, to see more of the colours and shadows of themselves they've been showing fans for the last 10 years. It's also been amusing to see all the people who were not paying attention, start to wake up. I've seen various posts about how some people feel this member changed or that member now looks different to them because of this/that interview, and I chuckle not even gonna lie.

The boys were always this competitive, always this ambitious, always this arrogant with a strong sense of pride, and all with massive egos swinging between the seven of them. Like, do people actually forget BTS are Korean men? They tone it down every now and then, and some members are more subtle about it than others, but they've always been like this, and if you believed otherwise then good morning. How would you like your coffee?

Of course it doesn't mean they don't highly value the team and fans, it's never meant that, but the love for their team (which I think is mostly genuine and pragmatically still very useful to them) is impressive to me when you remember the sort of partnership they have with each other in BTS is unnatural. We all know that. There's a reason there's no other group that has had their trajectory before, it's why there's no group like them - then and now, because many things about BTS as a group is frankly unnatural and go against every conventional thought of how a band should evolve. And everybody knows that, especially BTS themselves, which is why I strongly respect their aim to balance their very palpable ambitions and potential, with that of the team. However they choose to do that is their business, in my opinion. The company has its own agenda possibly, but they're all grown men more aware of the options at their disposal for their unique situations than anyone this side of the internet. It's bizarre for me to open my jikook Tumblr and see fans treat the people I consider to be the most intelligent in the group, as the most helpless in their situations within the company.

Anyway, hopefully anybody previously stuck under a false impression of the members, now that we're finally getting to Tae in the release schedule, I hope everyone is now well and fully aware of who the men in BTS are, and what the group as a whole represents. Like I've said before, nearly everything about them is directly up my alley so I'm a fan. Please be honest with yourself on if it's not, and if not, it's very okay to stop keeping up with BTS. In fact I strongly suggest you try out other groups that could be more to your liking, or take a tolerance break from everything k-pop altogether. That would be for the best.

The only way this implosion will actually be helpful for the group and fandom, is if all the people grumbling and hating the members now actually left the fandom. If all the apparently 'disillusioned' fans actually left, we'd be in much better shape by 2025. But because this is k-pop, they won't. And that is precisely what makes this implosion feel so messy.

About Min Heejin working with Tae, I'm excited!

Until that announcement, I didn't care one way or the other about Tae's solo debut. I mean, I was curious, but my taste in music is more the rapline and jikook to some degree. Tae and Jin for me are sometimes a hit but more of a miss usually, so I was prepared to support but only the baseline I typically do. Hearing that Min Heejin is involved however, makes me actually look forward to his album.

I won't rehash what I've said about Min Heejin before, Anons. You can read my previous posts on her by searching her name or 'NewJeans' on my blog. Personally, I don't care about the allegations against her just as I don't care about the allegations for all the Big3 CEOs/producers, and because if one actually cares to dig into the meat of the allegations against MHJ, many of them don't hold up under any scrutiny.

Anyway, reports say Tae reached out to Min Heejin in late 2022 to help with his solo debut project. That was really smart of Tae to do because Min Heejin is a brilliant artist. I'd say she's a couple of years ahead of an artist like Cho Gi-Seok, another brilliant Korean creative and the mind behind XG's latest concept execution and MVs along with Simon. If she works with Shin Woo-seok for Tae's MVs - the award-winning director she's worked with on many of NewJeans' MVs - then I expect nothing short of excellence.

In terms of music compatibility, Min Heejin has a good feel for descending microtonal music. The sort of music most people associate with jazz chords and R&B. So given Tae's music tastes, I'm very curious to see the direction his album will take under her supervision. I honestly have no idea how it's going to sound.

On promotions, like I've said before, unless Tae does a full English release like JK, he likely won't be getting the same toolbox, but he should see more support than previous releases. If Ador solely handles his promotions, then I can expect to see Tae have similar promotions to NewJeans. Which would be fantastic!

Tae has very interesting taste in music. He seems to like a lot of classic pop, contemporary pop, and hiphop. His voice and range allows him to excel in any of these genres, and despite how it seems online most people are fine with how he enunciates words in Korean. But I do hope he sticks to Korean or at least that there's dramatic improvement in his English pronunciations if there's a lot of English tracks.

We'll see.

Besides Tae though, I'm nearly desperate for new music from Namjoon and Jimin. I need it. Even my assistant at work (who I've somehow turned into a Jimin bias from streaming Serendipity, Alone, and Like Crazy-centered playlists at the office), asked me if Jimin has any new music out, as recently as last Wednesday. The people want more music. So, as excited as I am for Tae, I hope we get something minimoni before long as well.

Hello! I know you were asking op on that post, but I thought I'd offer the way I've anaylzed it over time and good points I've seen others make for you to see if it helps! I personally think will would be way more ready to bottom by the time he gets with mike. he's known how he feels for so long, and with that acceptance comes considering your preferences - especially as a horny teenager. me personally when I watch the show, nothing about will screams "yes I want to do that to mike", I think he leans towards "I wish mike would do this to me". I know some people like subverted expectations, and some fics explore it and shape that opinion, but I don't give that much weight because I prefer looking at the show! there's nothing wrong if there's an obvious choice yk?

There's also the fact mike for most of his life thought he'd be with a woman - aka giving during intimate times. he'd be more prepared for that and probably even itching/excited for exactly that sensation, which is lucky will is prepared for the opposite! And sure, some would say "well once he realizes he's not sleeping with a girl he'll want to do the opposite role!", no, I think given the time period he'll have a mental hurdle, and that's why will goes hell yeah don't even worry!

to use your words about mike being shaky and nervous - i agree and think that's why he wouldn't bottom at the start, there's more going on with that which is where me saying will is more prepared physically and mentally came from :)

And while he's still nice and soft, but not entirely shy anymore, I dont know if will is a total "take the reins" type either. In fact, I like helping people understand he can actually take the reins with mike's nerves, while receiving! it's easier for him to soothe mike by telling him he's okay. I think it'd be more stressful for mike who's had less time with his sexuality to immediately receive and learn how to prep etc. Op acknowledged in their post that will was bottoming and they had the right idea - mike would be so nervous (both would) but that's why it works with Will trusting him and is so sweet, mike's the perfect gentle boyfriend. Nobody is being babied, and Will doesn't need to prove that he isn't a baby through anyone insisting that he top. Will gets a lot of control over his experiences from the bottom too.

I see them switching eventually like you do, but I think I still see mike preferring to top and will preferring to bottom mostly. I personally dont find the desire to flip everything about mike and will that's established (for eg. mike happily protects will so it must mean it's turn for will to do it for mike etc) which I think people sometimes do in terms of their sexual life too.

I'm pretty sure Will has known about his sexuality for a long time, considering that Lonnie called him a queer when he was a child and Troy, who I'm assuming he's been bullying the party for a long time sadly, always went for their physical appearances, however with Will he always resorted to slurs about being gay. So yeah, Will has known for longer he was gay and Mike is honestly still processing that about himself, Mike would likely be the top most of the time. About Will "taking the reins", I actually meant it the same way you described! Will would be bottom but knowing Mike's probably so nervous he would gently guide him through the whole thing, telling Mike what he likes and what he doesn't, what feels good and reassuring him that he's okay and he can keep going most of the time, because like the headcanon said Mike would be the type to stop every 5 seconds to ask if he should continue lol. About the switch, I think it wouldn't happen until further down in their relationship, Mike always has been top but there's this itching curiosity of what it feels like to be "the girl" and to see a Will a bit more dominant than usual 👀

Again, I really don't want to come across as if I'm here to point fingers and shame anyone who does things I personally find unappealing- These are simply opinions of mine that (if I gotta be honest) make me a tad nervous to share knowing the huge biases people have on the internet. a review of the first week of cabo verde

so i've officially landed in the praia, cabo verde, airport seven (7) whole days ago, and i want to share my initial thoughts. this will be long, so here's a numbered list :)

1 . i feel like i'm a kid back in brazil but also a 21 y/o tall kid

so caboverdians speak portuguese (bc it's taught in formal schools) and they also speak kabuverdianu (creole, different across all the islands). being someone that can translate / speak at the store for the person they live with [1], it just feels like i'm a kid with a limited vocab

living in a beach town where everything is at a slower pace and is within walking / bus / taxi distance made me feel happy :) vacation!dasha is alive and well

2 . cabo verde is also a tall kid (but 48 y/o)

this one is sorta very much on me.

so i did the classic American Tourist thing and never actually learned anything about the history of the country i will be traveling to (sorry). since coming here and asking my co-workers and friends-of-misti about the general vibes of this country, i've learned so much! a lot of which Make Sense, a lot of which Confuse Me

older caboverdians tend to see themselves as not-african. i also learned that some ppl in some countries in mainland africa also don't consider themselves african bc of the way that the label "africa" comes with various histories, most of them negative bc of europe. this is why "kriolu" / "creole" are such popular words ! also younger caboverdians acknowledge that they are african / black if that applies to them

race is phenotypical here. which is what i expected (closer to how latam sees race ig?? more like how brasil sees race ig??). what i'm trying to say is that if you introduce yourself as "from the usa", they'll always say "no, where are u Actually from" and won't rest until u say something like "peruvian, chinese, etc." bc a lot of ppl outside of the usa don't believe that the usa has "actual indigenous ppl anymore" [2]. it also means that speaking english in the street invites ppl to ask you ur race

being east asian (chinese) in cabo verde is sorta .. rough. the microaggressions that i've seen in the two (2) days that my chinese-american roommate face is kinda Wild. when the person leading our cultural training said "oh sometimes ppl will call u 'china'" to my friend i thought that it meant that it would replace "ma'am" in the usual "yes, ma'am" / "no, ma'am" conversations with strangers, not that random ppl will yell "china!" multiple times to my friend when we're sitting on the sand. this has ties with macau and the rest of the chinese gov't building universities, casinos, and having a Business Presence in the country. but at least we got tourism industry students to invite us to clubs bc my friend is chinese-american??? [3] it's just really weird to me bc i haven't faced any racial / appearance-based ... acknowledgements ... even tho i clearly look like a foreigner in a sorta-racially-homogenous place (talking abt the mostly black island santiago)

independence day is not really celebrated here : ( ppl have conflicting opinions on the independence of the country. most of the country likes the day (july 5) bc it's a day off from work. other ppl say that it's hard to be a country with growing pains and would rather have portugal's gov't deal with building the infrastructure. other ppl are putting in the work to ease the growing pains. kinda sad since massachusetts, rhode island, and brazil (afaik) have big celebrations (fireworks and everything) rather than just a random ceremony where the president speaks for a bit and everyone goes home

a lot of the night life is european. someone pls teach me how to vibe to edm and house music and general non-lyrical music fjewiaofj but also shoutout to that club with brazilian funk. if only i learned the dance that my são paulo friend taught me </3

3 . the food is sorta fantastic here ngl

yes, i'm behind on the foodposting, and idk if i'll ever catch up lmao

for my lovely friends who eat meat, cachupa / caxupa is one of the loveliest things to eat. it's a meat-based (with veggies!) soup dish ?? it usually has either fish or pork tho. it's the national dish for a reason <33 also the seafood is good. sola-approved!

for my lovely friends who don't eat meat, i found a vegan place like 8 min away from my apt! also bc i'm in a City, it's easy to ask for things to be made vegetarian (plus there's always couscous and salads lol). also veg cachupa exists

for all my lovely friends, the food isn't Too too varied. i feel like the most common foods are pizzas, pastas, burgers, and shwarmas. also chinese foods are translated in an interesting way: noodles are pasta / spaghetti, dumplings are pastels (the empanada-esque brazilian translation), etc. there are also a bunch of brazilian churrascarias and one (1) indian restaurant

also i tried to be Cool and add some hot sauce to one of my pastas and i had to pretend i didn't want to kill myself in front of the Adults on the table

4. kabuverdianu is a cool language

i learned duolingo's haitian creole to get the vibes of a creole language. though this is attached to portuguese instead of french, a lot of the characteristics are the same. the words borrowed from the european language are spelled in a way that makes sense (maybe in a way that makes more sense to spanish-speakers?). i also like how gendered things tend to just be made gender neutral (usually defaulting to the masc way). i can hear it and understand it if spoken to me slowly, but after that ... oof!

5 . marcha do orgulho made me v happy

what if i change my "go to carnaval in every continent" goal to "go to pride in every continent" hehe. i think it was so Good how the pride that had 30 ppl last year exceeded their goal of 100 ppl this year by A Lot. even though there were a lot of ppl from the EU who backed the event (logistically spread the word i think??), the ppl who showed up were mostly black and made it such a fun time :,)

i also met a trans woman who claimed was the only trans woman in her island :,0 [5] she traveled all the way to santiago for pride

6 . overall i'm excited for the summer

i think that i'll spend a lot of my time reading a book by the beach and learning kabuverdianu while telling myself that i can maybe be an immigrant like my parents [4] or at least work abroad for a few years maybe. i'm excited to be an adult. i went to the beach (one on the other side of the island) today, and i just feel refreshed. i got to swim in the water like if it were a pool and hang out with the fish lol

Obviously, I mean Izzy. I'm gonna be like brutally honest abt myself now because why not frankly?

Like Izzy, I get left out of shit, or I'm the butt of the joke for being stringent abt rules and getting shit done before fucking around, and then fucking around mindfully if possible (but only with ppl who show they can't do both at the same time. It's a skill, honest.) It's happened since I was very little, and boy howdy you think I would learn right away that this means most ppl will hate u, but my little autistic ass did not! Izzy also apparently has not learned that yet, but I have my fingers crossed for him.

Like Izzy, I pick up the slack where I see it, in the hopes ppl I care abt aren't affected by any issues said slack might cause them. What my clinic job taught me with that, is that you make yourself indispensable and dependable yeah, but then they never promote you and stack more work on you until you break like that oar cracked over Ed's thigh. And that's bad!!! My mental and physical health prove it lmao. For Izzy's sake, I sort of hope something or someone in S2 makes him slow down before he either takes a fatal blow meant for Ed, or has a heart attack from stress.

Like Izzy, I'm not real good with love or affection. I hold a lot but I can't ever seem to figure out how to set it down or share it right with others. Compliments unsettle me before I can remind myself to shut the fuck up and just say thank you for it. I prefer, in work and school at least, to be mostly ignored as proof I'm doing well. Being pulled aside or asked for a meeting is instantly a sign I've fucked up, at least in the first instant lmao. I want to be more comfortable around others and be a better friend, a better son, a better person over all. But I don't know how to do it yet. I'm trying though. I know Izzy might not get that at all in the show, but ngl it would be cool if he did.

I'm noting the negatives mostly here because, like Izzy, the above shit means I've fucked up a lot. I've hurt ppl i didn't mean to, and ruined opportunities for myself. I've hidden from living my life beyond work and caring for others while neglecting myself, sometimes because I feel like that's all I deserve and other times to feel something.

But I'm not totally ruined, and in my opinion neither is Izzy. It'll take work on him as a character and what is in his arc for him to do and be better in any way, but I have a feeling that's not what we're too likely to get. And that's okay too, I'll just be happy for more Izzy aksnkfng. Even if he just let someone give him a hug by the end of the show, I'll take that.

Tbh my weirdest one is also my scariest one:

Back when I first started at the clinic and before I was out as trans/still wearing fancy dresses to work and heels (now they're an at home thing, not brave enough to wear them out anymore even when I want to)

this older dude started following me, trying to make conversation as I walked from my house to the downtown clinic (approx 12 blocks, through the downtown area of shops/restaurants, all not really open yet cuz it was like 640 AM). He's making me uncomfortable with the topics he brings up, i can only go so fast without outright running and i feel if i do that he'll just grab me. i tell him ill call the cops if he doesn't stop following me (i was dumb and like 19, now i wouldn't bother with the cops or want them involved at all)

i was lying. Back then i had a shitty iphone i hated and never used cuz no one ever called or texted me lmaoo so I lived on my ipod touch instead. this meant i never kept it charged, so it was a brick in my purse.

he met me on block four. He followed me until block eleven.

I kept trying to ignore him while i walked on, knowing I'd be late to open the clinic and fearing that fucking lecture from my asshole manager (fuck u Colette, get help before u manage anyone else)

But he's trying to snag my arm now, holding out his flip phone and telling me go ahead, do it, call the fucking cops! whore, slut, bitch, I'd pissed him off good. He claims he only wanted to find out the time from me, and that was his first question, before he asked if i wanted any company (even if i had, he wasn't my type)

I had passed only closed businesses until then, and i was starting to freak the fuck out. But, i was at block eleven, the clinic was within sight, just over the train tracks. if i could get a little closer to it, i could run and hopefully unlock the employee entrance, get in, and lock it before he caught up

Then, I see a woman cleaning the glass door of the Mexican restaurant a crosswalk and some feet away (it was in a historic train station building and had excellent food because an actual Mexican family owned it. It's since closed, and now a shitty microbrewery is in the building. Im still mad abt it lmaoo).

I bolt across the street to get there, ignoring one honked horn from a truck when i am still ninety percent sure it was not his light anyway, and scare the everloving shit out of this poor kind woman. The door is locked, the guy is now across the street and walking briskly towards us while i beat on the glass, sobbing, and beg her to let me in.

at the last second, she does. she doesn't speak a lot of English, i don't speak much Spanish, but we spanglish the moment and she locks the door once im in, shouting at the dude as he now bangs on it

y'all i wish i could thank that family so much more past what i did that day. The woman, the mom, got me some tortilla chips and water and sat me in the dining area. The dad called the cops, and their two twenty something and mid teen something sons go out the back door and start telling him to fuck off or they'd all make sure the cops took him away. They had no real obligation to even let me in, let alone shelter me more, and they did.

cops show up, and proceed to be cops: useless. They take statements from everyone, then tell the family that im being dramatic and the guy just needed to know the time. one cop asks if i want a ride to work now. I say no thanks, because im now realizing im very late and no one knows where i am/whats happening, and i just want to run the last little bit to work.

Nope, he now insists i ride in the back of his squad car while he lectures me on giving a polite man trouble like that. Before we drive off, the family gives me a wave and the guy that followed me walks off the way he came.

then i went to work, told everyone what happened in tears, got told to clean up and get to work. worked the late part of that day too after a coworker left sick. fkn sucked lmao.

Now my family refuses to let me walk anywhere alone and i feel like a child at 28. I probably shouldn't have told them abt the above lmaooo

I wonder if Jeff's previous youtube title choice meant anything in any significant way lol. Just a personal thought but as soon as I saw it I was like, "wait you have to be comfortable with that sentiment to claim it, right?" I know the algorithm is king lmao but would he have done that while pursuing the other G? It's not something to read into that much but it feels like something a more unattached Jeff would say. 🤔

If he's not unattached and he's still interested, maybe there have been some unavoidable barriers between them. It's interesting how G was traveling first, then he was, then he got sick... 😮 if anything else happens between them it would have to happen right around now, I guess, once he's caught up on work.

I can't remember when G deleted her tweet, but my guess is that she either wanted some privacy or is feeling some mortification after saying too much on their dates, especially since things may have gone silent on his end.

It's worth mentioning that she's very candid. This week she said she overshared on the V-day date, last week she said something vague about saying or doing too much and wanting to run away from LA and hide, so I'm assuming it's mostly related to the date. Idk if it's trauma dumping or maybe anxiety or if she's been through it recently, but it's interesting that she regrets it bc it means she's aware of it.

In one of the first vids of hers I clicked on, she opened up a lot about her family situation. It was interesting. She said that her mom has been an addict (alcohol +) for many years, since her childhood. She implied that they are on bad terms and said that she doesn't even speak to her anymore. She also opened up about historically having many friendship problems that repeat in various ways. She also said that her number one problem with herself is that she "hates herself." That's so tough, I feel for her but I also am curious about how she's approaching things now. I feel hopeful for her bc in her recent vids it sounds like she is all about making an effort to transcend her limitations rather than live out her programming, so I hope it all comes through for her 💗

But again, and this is just my opinion, Jeff, in contrast, who has rebelled, gone to jail, etc., still seems to have had a stable, well-meaning set of parents, a seemingly normal dynamic with them, and overall a relatively good upbringing with healthy bonding. I think he is able to form healthy romantic relationships and maintain them for a long time. This is the main reason why I can't realistically see Jeff going all in permanently unless she has experienced healing. I'm not here to judge and she seems very self aware and conscious of her patterns, so I think she'll find her way, but what she said did draw my attention.

Jeff has such a compassionate side, and I think he is calming and wanted to listen to her on the date when she opened up, and does like her, but I think he can sense if a new person can bond similarly in whatever budding dynamic he has with someone. Again, just my two cents.

I'll share this quickly, but I met with an amazing therapist and author a few years ago who shared that we form our subconscious concept of companionship through our relationships with our same gender parent (weird but interesting, there is more of a sibling vibe), and that we replicate it in our partnerships because companionship is at the foundation of romantic love. It's a major predictor of marital difficulty/success.

As far as personality/chemistry....I do think there is a lot of chemistry between them. She's a more confident version of Cierra to me. But I kinda do also feel a power clash. Do you feel that? Remember that psychic friend of his who said "don't marry your mother" LOL. It's just coming to mind.

This is kinda old news now BUT I'm happy to hear that the date went well and that Jeff makes her feel comfortable. She wants Jeff (unlike the prior sitch). But realistically, while I could see them possibly dating for a little bit... I can practically hear Jeff saying "it just didn't work out." I’d lie if I said I don’t have a couple of doodles saved somewhere in my art folder, but to be fair my gb Baku and Kiri are... exactly like Baku and Kiri, I wouldn’t really change them all that much, so I never find it much worth it to talk about it? I think Bakugou might have been a bit different in backstory since being a girl would have made people less, uh, sure he was destined to beat All Might or whatever, but in general he’d stay the same imho. Kiri too, he wouldn’t change all that much either. Their designs also, their quirks require them to be buff after all. I dunno man I just don’t think them being girls would change all that much about them so my ideas on this specific aus are always a bit eh, sorry!

That was actually a small variation of a scene already present in the manga (central panel here) so being as objective as I can be I’d say it was just bones playing on how much fans love the ship - that said, it’s still canon to the manga that Kirishima didn’t trust Bakugou where he couldn’t keep his hands on him and make sure he was there and safe? That’s adorable and I’ve been crying over that for two years now ;^;

bc yeah, societies are constructs. so are most things. language is fake. we're making a bunch of random noises that we've given meaning to, to be able to communicate to each other. why were we so desperate to communicate with each other? bc humans are social creatures. we're built on the bedrock of cooperation. our brains, our genes, are hardwired to seek out and find people to live and grow with. most namely bc it helps our species survive, but the consequences of being social creatures are things like shared languages and societies with (mostly) shared rules and laws

it's not to say that societies aren't flawed bc they most certainly are. social norms are also extremely and very flawed, and it's important to talk about and discuss them critically.

but we're able to do that bc we decided this string of random noises (and lines if you're writing) meant something. it's a construct, but it's not fake. it's not a lie. it's real and it's wonderful. we were so desperate to connect with our fellow humans, we created

i suppose, as i write this out, part of why it irks me so much that he would call society a lie is due in part of him equating constructs with lies. and it very much feels a lot like how social media has misused the terms trigger, and gaslighting, and love bombing (among others) that they've been made into jokes, rather than taken as serious issues people encounter.

and while little white lies aren't serious, per se, lying per its usual definition can cause great harm when done with malice. it can lead into something like gaslighting, in the very extreme cases. and it's frustrating to me that he would write into his show that something so amazing as creation to be a lie just because it's a construct.

I don't really have anything to add to this. Idk if I agree or disagree w/ u (more on that in a second), but this is a rlly interesting perspective.

I'm really struggling to elaborate. We are BOTH struggling 2 elaborate on our opinions, hand in unlovable hand (/lyr) or whatever. Because I do somewhat agree with Janus, but mostly because it sounds more like he's criticising hierarchies, not necessarily society (he does say society). To me, it sounds like he's criticising the government and people in power and laws, which involved society. Which, I, as an anarchist disabled black queer, also do not the governement or people in power or people who make laws, etc etc. And, as you brought up, certain societal norms are not that great.

Of course, I do like the concept of society. I am all about community! I agree with your point about how it is beautiful that humans have created connections and such, etc etc.

I just do not necessarily disagree with Janus, especially because of the last sentence. I think it's important to think critically about the laws and rules out government is making. Gay marriage used to be illegal, while slavery is still legal, it's just in another name (cough cough. Prisons. Cough cough.) People used to be killed for being queer, because it was against the law. There are disabled people losing their benefits by marrying people, because it is legal for that to happen.

While I don't think society is a "lie" I do think it's important to criticise it often. I, too, do not want to live in a world like that.

ALSO. I would argue lying, in its usual definition, is not always bad and that white lies aren't the only "good" lie. Lying about being queer or lying on job resumes or to your boss aren't bad things, but they also arent little white lies. Lying is very, very complex & there's a million reasons someone would lie. Yes, it can become something like gaslighting (which is awful), but lying isn't necessarily a bad thing.

i don't want to dismiss anyone's feelings and agree with u about everyone forming their own opinions but for me it's so hard to get what has people so insecure this year. that birthday live still lives rent free in my head, it was so wild. also them waiting for each other and wanting to share a car happened this month as well. i honestly think people are expecting jikook to be louder each time which is not realistic in a relationship (if we assume they're together) let alone a secret one

I meant to watch Jimin's bday live again but I was with no internet for like a month, and now it's the holidays and I never got around to watch it again. I didn't exactly go crazy about it lol but it was really cute and sweet.

I didn't say it in that ask that you're referring to because it wasn't really about my feelings, but for me 2021 was a "good" year. I understand why people would feel insecure, because I know that not much happened and the few things that did happen seemed to me very subtle and like it'd be hard to get them if you weren't looking for them before. Like, the way Jungkook hugs Jimin has changed a little and he seems significantly more 'loose' than before when it comes to skinship with Jimin. He's also complimented Jimin a few times this year, and it's something that I didn't expect, from just saying he's cute or "small, precious hyung" to when he talked in that TV show about how Jimin was the most dedicated person he'd ever met and even to saying that he was caring for that cameraman because he's Jimin's copycat, which was definitely one of my favorite moments because... are we hearing the implications? He associates Jimin to kindness and caring for others. He had said before that Jimin was a dedicated trainee, but never with so many words or as if it was something emotional?? in a way. I guess they seemed fine to me because I saw some initiative from JK, mostly it was there, which was something that I really didn't see in 2020, I mean JK being as invested with/on Jimin as Jimin was with him. So, yeah... the good things were subtle things here and there but they were there.

I think the only thing that confused me and actually made me feel sad was that they weren't living together anymore. It's not like it meant that they weren't friends anymore or anything like that but it was confusing. I guess I just had grown emotionally attached to the idea of it all so when it happened it was heartbreaking lmao. And it also because it was something that very clearly differentiated them from the rest of BTS.

Personally, I don't really expect them to be louder than the time before everytime they interact, but honestly I do kind of expect that they would be different from the rest? If that makes sense. As time goes by, all the relationships in BTS are starting to pretty much look all the same to me, even jikook. That's the one, BIG thing that sometimes makes me pause and say what did I even see in jikook in the first place. It's not only about skinship tho and definitely not about the skinship they might do or not do at a concert, but also what they say about each other, if the way they touch or they hug seems intimate or not, if there's romantic affection or not. Jungkook putting Jin's arms around his waist in that recent bangtanbomb was something romantic, to me. And like, I know they're friends and I don't believe they're anything else, but it was affectionate and I have talked before about how I haven't seen that affection in Jikook in so long (semi related but I also think that there are some things I have yet to unlearn about Jungkook's skinship). So in those terms, the stuff that we've seen happening in 2021, and I'm talking strictly about things that happened this year, not content that was released in 2021, didn't really add much for me to thinking that they're in a relationship, except for a couple of moments, but it was still a nice year, their friendship seemed fine and it came across as more balanced than years before and like they both care equally about the other, and I think that Jungkook has been feeling more comfortable being himself with Jimin on camera.

lmao i will never get over how wild reposting on the internet actually is. that fucker has over a thousand comments and i had no idea until you told me just now! literally made a reddit account to try to add my voice to the din just to encourage people to discuss on the original platform so i can see but tbh people on reddit are a lot meaner than tumblr so i won't be mad if it doesn't get too many upvotes.

reddit's responses to this post is such an interesting case study in the polarization that's happening everywhere online. i get SO MANY accusations of being wildly biased from supporters of both "teams" all the time and it's funny because like am i too team green or too team black bc i can't be both right? mostly i think it's because people get really defensive when you criticize a character and assume it means you hate them. like bruh we are adults with big girl emotions can't it be a little more complex than that?

when i say i think viserys is a bad parent, i'm not saying it as team green propaganda. i've said before that rhaenyra is the rightful ruler and that i absolutely adore her as a character (let's just say aemond isn't my only babygirl). there's a reason i've written 100k+ words of fanfic designing a political scenario where she'll be able to happily rule without any of her children dying. spoiler alert: it's not because i hate her and think she's a bad ruler. and she's far from the only character on team black i love: daemon, jacaerys, lucerys, and baela all come to mind.

it's also really interesting to me that people see my opinion about viserys and, even though i literally did not mention rhaenyra, assume that i'm somehow shitting on her. it just goes to show how much they stand blindly by one team or another. that to criticize one member of their "team" feels to them like you're criticizing every member. like baby, i'm not the one making it about teams: you are! honestly, i understand why the team mentality was a good marketing move, but it really has been the death of critical thinking in this fandom. there are aspects of both that we're meant to root for, just as there are aspects of both we're meant to hate. none of these people are objectively morally good, and that's what makes it interesting, so why are we trying to pretend otherwise?

so while yes, i don't like viserys, why would i extend that dislike to rhaenyra? it's not like she forced him at gunpoint to do the things i'm criticizing him for lol. in fact, i think viserys did her just as dirty most of the time. i have another post in the works about this, but he neglected her for her entire childhood, groomed her best friend and dealt with telling her in the worst possible way, and made her heir in a bid for her affection yet did none of the actual work to honor her as a ruler. he could have made her his hand but instead he made her pour his wine?

now, again, just because we dislike part of something does not mean it's all bad. do i think viserys is generally quite a bad parent and person? absolutely. did i also cry ugly tears in the scene where he forces himself up from his literal deathbed to defend his daughter? yes. these two things can coexist.

also, because reddit is reddit, there are a bunch of comments that just miss my point about alicent and aemma entirely. i've already responded to those in a post here so i won't beat a dead horse too much. but to paraphrase: viserys married alicent because he liked her specifically not for duty or he would've married someone who wouldn't horrify the entire small council; and aemma didn't need to be alive and conscious for the pain she was put through at the end of her life. the things he did to his wives weren't necessary and i don't think we should be pretending they were.

lastly, it's really funny to me how many people incorrectly assumed i was a man in the comments. i'm genuinely the girliest girl to ever girl in real life (makeup jewelry and tits to the gods, sorority girly, the whole nine yards, i love it) and it gave me such whiplash. there's a joke to be made here about trying to weaponize male privilege somewhere.

I'm genuinely happy that there is someone who is critical and unbiased but also likes talking about using one's potential to the fullest because that's just almost always great combination. I agree George has great potential and honestly I enjoy seeing how he probably mostly obliviously builds himself a lot of helpful connections. Dream has a lot of knowledge regarding yt algorithm but not many people mention how beneficial for George streams was Quackity's professionalism and experience. I don't mean to make it sound as George only relays on others, I just find his ability to get along and start at least pleasant relationships with other creators he interacts with very good trait of his and useful especially when this creators can be very helpful. I still remember that one instance when Quackity helped George just ban overly lengthy messages in chat and how Quackity called out Sapnap leaving streams early, it's just small things we could see but I wouldn't be surprised about Quackity giving George some general tips or at least influencing him with his professional attitude. It's also amazing for me how George can easily slip away from drama like for example recently with That Vegan Teacher that got some attention from mcyt fandom because of dueting Tommy's tiktoks if you know what I'm talking about. Basically she dueted George in his tiktok about walking around in the snow in her usually making it about veganism manner and I was ready for her to start hating on him more but a few hours later she dueted again with his tiktok about eating apple slices dipped in apple juice and she was smiling and gave him approval lmao. It was just so funny to me how neutral George is so it's hard to criticize him and even when someone tries to start it suddenly it looks like the universe itself prevents it, it's so funny honestly

i agree. with stories like quackity’s and dream’s of building your own content and fanbase essentially from nothing (obviously in the case of dream, george and sapnap helped but it was largely him who studied the yt algorithm and pushed them to join him in the first place), it’s easy to diminish success stories that come from both building from your own experiences as well as from others’. anyone who has been following george’s content can see that the people he associates with have influenced his streams (trying out new games, the subgoal, wanting to stream earlier, the raid-a-thons he karl and q are supposed to have, banning long messages, being more professional on streams), and that doesn’t make him a lesser streamer at all. it’s a huge advantage that he gets along with other people so well, because being close to them and seeing firsthand why they’re successful pushes him to make necessary changes to his own methods.

(and he rubs off on quackity, too! remember in the recent roblox stream, when q put his chat in sub-only and then said george calls it “money mode” lol. minor but i love them ok)

as for “slipping away from drama,” i know this isn’t what you meant to discuss but i don’t think any CC would respond to That Vegan Teacher if that’s what you meant? eating meat is hardly a strong critique and i don’t think they would ever take it seriously, because... why. did people actually get into drama over That Vegan Teacher dueting tommy? :O plus no one “cancels” george because, apart from being very very careful about what he does online (avoiding cursing, nsfw jokes, sharing any strong opinion + overthinking his interactions with “problematic” people like belle delphine + being genuinely afraid to play survive the internet), he just doesn’t say anything in the face of criticism, even legitimate ones. it definitely keeps him out of trouble, but it always upsets me when he’s just aggressively silent.
