Last Nerve (Derek x Reader)

A/N: Okay. So this is adorable. This happened. I was already gonna do this one as a stand alone, but when I sat down to write it after the request, I got this idea instead and it makes me giddy, so here.

I do not own Teen Wolf or it’s characters. Sadly.

Warnings: Mild swearing? So. Much. Fluff.

This was it. Your last nerve, and he was on it.

“Derek,” you said warningly. “Don’t do it.”

“I have to, Y/N.” His voice was clear, resolute, and yet the tiniest bit guilty. His face wrinkled just the tiniest bit like he had tasted a lemon for the briefest of seconds.

And you didn’t trust it one bit.

“If you love me, you won’t do it, Derek.”

“It’s because I love you that I have to.”

Crossing your arms over your chest, you humphed out a breath in frustration, looking off to the side. “I don’t know what I did to deserve you,” you mumbled under your breath sarcastically. Frustration was oozing out of your every pore, making Derek wrinkle his nose ever so slightly.

“You got that just by being yourself,” Derek mumbled, staring at your injured foot he was attempting to treat.

You wiggled it unnecessarily just to annoy him as he got very close to it for a better look.

Uh oh. His, “I don’t do bullshit” face was on now. Attempting to slowly pull your foot away from him, dreading whatever that look would bring, you let out a little yelp when he grabbed your ankle firmly.

His gaze never leaving your wide eyes, he held your ankle tight, ignoring your growing cries of protest, used the tweezers in his other hand to pull out the splinter that started this whole mess, and slammed it and the tweezers down on the coffee table with a smack.

“There. Done.” He said without emotion, his eyes still staring daggers your way. Leaning back in his chair, he crossed his arms firmly over his chest.

Bending in what was probably an extremely awkward way, you looked at the bottom of your foot to see it already healing now that the object was removed.

Looking back up to Derek with what you hoped was innocent looking wide eyes, you mumbled a thanks, and slowly made your way over to him.

He studied you the whole way until you sat on his lap, wrapping your arms around his neck and smiling gently up at him. He continued to stare, but the slightest hint of a smile gave him away.

Leaning in extremely close to his face, you said softly, “I don’t know what I did to deserve you.” No malice this time, no sarcasm, just the simple, honest truth.

“Neither do I, but I’m glad you did,” Derek shot back, laughing at your shocked expression that quickly turned to laughter as well.

So, I'm brand new to TDP, and just binged the whole show with a friend. Not sure how the fandom feels about it yet, but anyone else really disappointed with the time skip?

Like, I feel like there was so much potential there for good stuff! The three major things I think we missed out on:

The development of Amaya's romance

Rayla's quest for revenge and eventual realization that she already had something way more important

Claudia's meeting Terry and having adventures while trying to collect the stuff for her potion

I feel especially mad about Rayla's missed plot, because she leaves as a character we like and returns as a character we like, so it's hard to relate to why Callum is so angry at her. They explain it and it makes sense logically, but it's a classic show don't tell situation.

The best I can figure, there was no season in between because none of those things involve the two main boys especially: Ezra and Callum. But, seriously, you couldn't find anything for them to do? I feel like Ezra taking on his father's role could have had lots of potential, and investing more time in Callum as the high mage would have made his susceptibility to Aaravos all the more anxiety-inducing!

I was pretty disappointed. Would love to hear what others think and what the general fandom's reaction was!
