List of Reasons why Strip and Chick Never Got Along (Human AU)

(Yes, there are enough reasons to warrant a list)

-personality differences (obviously)

-the mental stronghold Chick's father held over him

-Strip won his third Piston Cup in 1979, Chick's rookie year (kinda that 'rookie resents the veteran' attitude)

-jealousy over Strip's success

-jealousy over Strip having a happy marriage (whereas Chick has been married and divorced twice)

-Strip was best friends with Dale Earnhardt (who Chick hated and did not get along with; the feeling was mutual)

-everyone in the racing world (drivers, fans, etc) loved Strip

-the fact that Strip holds more records than Chick has sponsor stickers on his car (slight exaggeration but Strip does hold a shit ton of racing records)

-frustration over the fact that Strip was insanely good

-and the most obvious reason: constantly coming in second behind Strip for 27 years (although Chick won races, he could never beat Strip in the final race in order to beat him overall)

Overall, it boils down to a lot of jealousy and bitterness. Which eventually led him to intentionally wreck Strip during the tiebraker. Cause just once, he wanted to beat him overall and dethrone the King. But by doing so, he lost any respect the racing world had for him (and ended up driving his son away)
