Well friends, this concludes the graduation ceremony of Hope Diamond Darryn Drake and the WPHS class of 2023.  Hope will soon become a young adult and embark on her own journey through simulated life. Hey. If you're still having sympathy and compassion for the person who hurt you, it's really ok.

I said 'fuck that guy' in my last post. But it took me a really long time to get there. Also, that may never be how you feel about them. That's ok too. You don't have to hate them.

Your feelings toward them don't invalidate what happened to you. And your feelings certainly are not evidence that it 'wasn't that bad'.

I think there are a lot of people out there that think that there's a single 'correct' way to heal. You can process and heal in whatever way works for you. You don't have to follow someone else's blueprint.

Give yourself space, grace and time.

I came into work this morning and my boss immediately started drilling me on every mistake I've made in the last month. She had a file full of print outs covered in red sharpie showing exactly how often I quote a customer on the wrong price, or assign someone with a big car to a room with a small parking space, or forgot to tell the maids that a certain customer asked for extra towels. I had nothing to say, so I just sit their stonefaced making occasional grunts of acknowledgement. I'llgive her credit, she had the decency to tell me that she knows this isn't like me, that the mistakes are only a recent thing, that I'm normally much more careful. She says that whether or not I'm going through some personal stuff at home, when I'm here work comes first.

That's when I decided I don't want to be here anymore.

I'm giving my two weeks on Saturday. I'm out of here on August 12th. I'll take a short vacation, travel a bit, do something fun that I wasn't able to do for my birthday in May, but then I need to find a new job far away from here. I can crash with my sisters up in Gainesville until I find my own place. Terrible timing though, what with all the college kids starting full year leases, but maybe I can sublease or find a hovel with roommates. Anything is better than being stuck in the Keys indefinitely.
