another hot take but i really don't think tommy's "my attention?" was him thinking buck has feelings for eddie. tommy thinks buck was jealous that he was getting excluded from the friend group, because he comes to clear the air about causing bad blood and even says "[eddie] can have more than one friend." tommy doesn't fully realize what's really going on until buck says "... 'cause trying to get your attention has been exhausting," and it dawns on him that buck's jealousy wasn't about getting excluded from eddie and tommy's friendship but about eddie jeopardizing tommy's time (additionally, buck's "i guess" isn't meant to be noncommittal; he's realizing in the moment that it's true, that it really was about tommy. the way he says it feels like it's a revelation to even him). remember, buck reached out to tommy at some point prior to the events of 7x04 for the tour, but was never actually interested in leaving the 118. it was absolutely a ploy to get closer to tommy. but eddie interrupts them and pulls tommy away from buck, and buck spirals. the main issue is that buck has no idea what his feelings are doing, so he latches on to the most likely explanation to him (with further context clues that indicate that's not what it's really about) until that moment between buck and tommy in the loft. basically buck's got a crush he doesn't know how to deal with so he makes it everybody's problem.

You can call me Radish if you want. My @ of this blog is something I randomly put in without much thought, and now I have too many links to change it (I hear that if I change the @, all the links would be gone. I never tested it, but the risk is there, and I don't hate my @ yet so ¯_(ツ)_/¯) Reading is my soul-consuming hobby since I can read. Recently, I have gotten into writing fanfic, and while it is not the best and I would still prefer someone else to write it, there is a weird satisfaction in reading a story that goes exactly as you think.

when did you watch bad buddy/join the fandom?

I have been very excited since it was announced. I'm Nanon's fan from The Gifted, and to see him suddenly accept a BL role is a big, pleasant surprise. Bad Buddy is probably the first thing I've watched live in years, and it's also the first thing I've rewatched even before it ended. The first (and only) thing that got me to watch the reaction clip too. I've been hooked since the first episode. Each small expression Pran makes has me in chokehold.

I feel like my answer changes each day. Let's say Ep. 3 for today. PatPran sneaking around is cute, the comedy is exactly to my test, and Pran's face that shows in this episode is doing something to my heart.

Favourite scene/s

The scene that I feel is most memorable is the one after the music contest. Yes, the "ma ni di" scene—I don't think I have to tell you why.

The first time I see the rooftop scene, I don't know what I feel. After that scene, I felt like crying. It's an impactful scene for sure.

The scene where Pat and Pran go to market together is definitely one of my fav.

I love Pran's face in the scene where he gets ขนมจีบ(Dumplings?) and a note from his mystery admirer. I keep rewatching that.

Every lighthearted moment between Pran and Wai. I do think Pran shouldn't let Wai get away from being a bad friend, but other than that, I love them together.

The ending scene felt extremely nice.

I would like to know more about Pran and Wai's relationship. Nanon said that for him, it makes sense that Pran would be that pushover (?) when it's Wai, and I really want that piece of information.

motherfuck I need bartender lbh with a pretty smile and open ears to anyone who orders a drink and doesn't have company, but secretly hates having to deal with drunkards that can't solve their own problems except for drinking; until one day a tired looking shen yuan strides in, makes his order, drinks, pays and then leaves.

lbh doesn't think much of it at first, but then he starts coming back once every other week, then twice and soon he's drinking daily. A single drink, always different. Sometimes as soon as they open, others barely on time to order (once or twice he arrives when the bar is closed but binghe can make and exception and can you blame him? the man is interesting sue him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). No matter when or what, he just comes in, orders, drinks, pays and then leaves. No words, no prompting sighs, nothing except a grimace when he doesn't like a cocktail and even then he doesn't comment on it.

He's not the only one to notice, of course. Other employees ask him about the cute customer that orders a single drink every night, regardless of price and, honestly, lbh doesn't have anything to say about him which is definitely not something he usually says about customers.

Of course, realizing he doesn't know anything about a regular customer that he doesn't find annoying irks him. So. Of course he'll make his new favorite customer talk!

But it turns out to be easier said than done.

The first time lbh tries to make a conversation, the man simply thinks he's talking to someone else and just takes his drink to a table. The second time he's too busy to hear the answer. The third, a drunk girl butts into the conversation and won't shut up.

By the sixth time he gets interrupted, lbh is Done with a capital D. He looks at the clock and when it's about to hit the hour, he puts down his wiping cloth, takes off his vest and calls his workmate to take his post.

When the tired, always tired-looking man comes in, lbh has been sitting by the bar with a drink for 15 minutes and all he gets is a side glance. That could not stand.

He looks at the glass his co-worker handed the man and quirks a brow. "Not to speak bad of my friend, but I could have made you a better one."

His drinking buddy looks at his glass then at him and with the most monotonous voice he verbally slaps him with a "You're not bartending tonight, so no, you couldn't have."

'...Weren't daily drinkers supposed to be social or something?' He awkwardly laughed but agreed. 'Ok Binghe, you've got this. You're the best at conversations, just start with something basic'

"I see you come here often. I'm Luo Binghe, your usual barkeep... "

His smile disappeared as the man set his glass down, stood up and looked at him.

"I know. You have a name tag in your uniform. Enjoy your drink."

And with that he left.

Oh, he's so gonna get his favorite customer speak, and he won't ever know what hit him.

People are definitely setting their selves up. Kristen has told us who this arc is for outside of Buck and people still think Eddie and Chris will dominate or be integral to the AU or Buck waking up. All I have to say is: “Have you met Kristen?” Eddie and Chris will be minimal to the story. She doesn't see Buddie and didn't believe that Eddie and Chris should have been the main story of Eddie being shot. People need to get ready for maybe one or two more tiny scenes of Eddie and Chris.

(I didn't get around to answering this earlier today and am now finding the humor given what we know is coming down the line. Canon!Buddie s6! JK, gotta deal with Lucy first.)

I do think we're going to get Eddie being upset, and ofc the Chris scene (although I think people are envisioning a five minute sob fest when in reality it's probably a max of two minutes...), but is (almost) everyone seriously glossing over the minor detail that is the Han family (supposedly) still making an appearance tonight? Chim's father and brother and step-mother don't need to be around if how Chim handles things isn't meant to take priority over some other characters. I'm looking forward to whatever Buddie content we get, but this idea that it's a "sign" or leading to something in the near future is a recipe for disaster when Kristen is not going to let Buddie grab the spotlight over whatever Bathena's doing all of 6B (it's their show, ffs) and the Madney engagement. People also thought the will would have ramifications. And the hostage situation. And the dispatch fire. And here we are in the second half of year 6 coming up with theories on how Buddie can still happen. Nobody knows anything, but owning that means losing the validation they seek via inbox or someone else's tags. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oh there's no way this will end well & I can make it so fucked up & I can make it so stupid: The Situation Is already fucked up, so I don't even have to do anything, and I'm here to see how it will unfold. And before it gets better (so not the ultimate end) they have to work through a really messy tangle of things. Also they are already endearingly stupid, so that is covered too.

I don't see them as romantic & In a Relationship & Most codependent bitches on earth: I do see them as romantic (DEFINITELY!) but they are so much more than just romantic; their relationship has so many wonderful layers. The deep connection they share is not just romantic; THEY SHAPE EACH OTHER. I view them as the Ultimate Example of the Soulmate trope: in every universe, they are connected and important to each other in one way or another. There is no Shinichi without Ran and no Ran without Shinichi. They can and do function without each other but also their driving force and motivation is very deeply rooted in each other.

I don't really see them as Romantic & In a relationship: I can see them as many things, be it platonic, partnership, romance, friendship, really, I'm not picky about the nature of their relationship for some reason.

They enable the worst of each other & Compatible brand of freaks: reckless tendencies, the both of them, Ultimate Chaos Bringer Duo, also Bastards To Each Other TM. General thoughts: THEY LOVE AND CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER SO MUCH, YET THERE IS SUCH LOVELY TEASING and the potential of stupid teenage shenanigans is STRONG. In any arrangement, they are dear to me, CHILDHOOD BESTIE SQUAD.

I can make it so stupid: as always, They Already Are, most endearingly stupid too.

They're sweet: THEY ARE SUPER SWEET, SO CUTE, THEY HAVE SO MUCH RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER AND CARE SO MUCH, EXCUSE ME AS I CRY.

I'm not sure how much Buddie fic you read, but still, what storylines and tropes are you not interested in reading for Buddie? The reason doesn't have to be deep of course, it can just be "eh, not not my thing." My own example is I'm not interested in fics where Buck and Eddie break up, and/or an exes to lovers fic. *shrugs* Just not my flavor of angst.

I actually don't read much fic at all anymore - unless it catches my eye on Tumblr, I'll never see it. I don't go into the Buck/Eddie tag on AO3 at all.

That being said, there are a lot of things I won't ever read 😅 A short list is as follows:

Major character death

Anything that's super dark or with a lot of violence/torture/anything with r*pe, stuff like that. Not interested in that shit

Fucking lawsuit fics

I agree with you on exes to lovers and break-up fics, not my cup of tea at all (happy endings only!)

Anything where Buck leaves because the 118 is mean to him/anything that villainises the characters

A major turn-off for me is Eddie using the phrase "Dios", it makes me cringe. He's never said it on the show! Ever!

There's other stuff - I'm very, very picky about what I'll read! I don't really like AU's all that much either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What are your favorite whump tropes? (copied answer from previous post) - tilting the head up with a bladed weapon -hiding wounds -suffering stoically but going to pieces when shown kindness -self-sacrifice -forced to watch I'm sure there are more. I have a favorite trope tag, but tumblr seems to be misbehaving currently. 10. When did you first realize you were into whump? That's always been the part of narratives that were most interesting to me...(I fixated on that scene in animated Aladdin where Jasmine is trapped in the hourglass, for example.) In my first fandom foray there was a genre called "Obi-Torture". There was some post on an angelfire or geocities website that talked about "why we torture our favorite characters" and I cannot find it anymore - I just spent too long looking. I didn't realize there was another/broader term until my second fandom foray with SoCK.

Do you by chance have any advice for people that want to get into RPing but have never really done it before? It looks fun!

yeah here's a few. Note that this is geared specifically toward tumblr RP, not like, D&D or something.

So here's some ✨total beginner advice.✨ Most of this is geared toward How To Maximize The Odds That People Will Want To Give RPing With You A Shot; learning to be good at actual roleplay takes time, as it depends on both writing skill and teamwork, but step 1 is like, not accidentally scaring off people because you don't know local etiquette.

First: if you've got friends who are already RPing go to them first lol. Buddies are more willing to help you figure out the lay of the land and help hold a newb's hand through figuring out what works and what's a faux pas.

If a roleplay blog gets a new follow and/or message from somebody they don't know, the very first thing they're gonna do is click on your name and glance at your blog. Make it easy for people to find the important stuff fast! If your roleplay blog is a sideblog to your main, include a link to your RP blog in a pinned post so it's clearly available. On your roleplay blog, make it quickly obvious what people can expect to find. A description with a deep, meaningful song lyric is no good to someone trying to figure out wtf you offer unless you remember to include "(RP blog for Blorbo from My Show)" at the end of the description.

And following up on "help people find the important stuff fast": you want to actually have some RPing on your blog. After looking at someone's description & pinned post, the next thing they do is scroll down and skim the first few posts to see how you write. Since a new blog obviously doesn't have any roleplay threads somebody can read, I generally suggest that a new blog post a drabble or two in-character, both to help you get a feel for writing your character and to let anyone visiting your blog see how you write.

Lots of RPers add info pages to their RP blog. The most common info pages are a Rules page (most often: who you will/won't interact with, what kinds of plots you will/won't write about, if you tag any specific content) and, secondly, an About page (usually a bio about your character; some are long, they don't need to be). Info pages aren't mandatory, but some RPers are wary of someone who doesn't have one. If you're like "damn I can't think of any rules tho???" you can always say something like "I'm new to RP and don't have rules yet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ be nice plz" and some folks will be more forgiving lol.

If you do have info pages, make sure they're easy to access for someone clicking on your blog the first time. These days, usually that means including the links to them in a pinned post, since that's most easily accessible on mobile.

When you want to reach out to somebody, first check their blog to see if they have info pages. If they do, at BARE MINIMUM read their rules page. Respect their rules! If they say "i don't want to roleplay XYZ plot lines" and XYZ plot lines are the only thing you want to roleplay then just leave 'em alone! Most RPers will be miffed if it's clear you haven't read their about page, so it's optional but highly recommended; but reading someone's rules is mandatory courtesy.

The most common thing you'll see RPers say "if they don't have ___ I won't interact with them" over is listing your age. There's a lot of adults who don't want to write with kids and kids who don't want to write with adults. If you're not comfortable listing your age in your bio, that's cool—just be aware that it'll be a trade-off, maintaining privacy means not getting to interact with people who don't want to interact with someone whose age they don't know. If you want to split the difference, some people leave it at "I'm over/under 18" and that's enough to satisfy some people who want to know ages.

Okay so that's my general Getting Into RP new blog setup advice!!! Now here's a list of totally subjective opinions that I offer as sagely advice but that people will disagree with me on because it's mainly a bunch of pet peeves lmfao:

If you're RPing in a fandom instead of with OCs, don't tag the names of the canon characters involved every time you make a new post. It's kinda acceptable for a brand new RP blog if they're still trying to drum up a little attention; but even as borked as tumblr's coding is, there are still people that follow tags to try to find fanart and meta posts and announcements about canon and stuff. If somebody is trying to look for cool posts about barbie dolls they don't want to see five posts in a row from some RP blog like "Anon: hey Ken, are you and Barbie still fighting? Ken: Ugh, yeah it sucks. #barbie #ken #life in the dreamhouse"

Some blogs like to make extremely fancy formatting! Meticulously spaced and aligned text, tiny text, colored text, multiple fonts, fonts they copy/pasted from other sites, etc. But the more fancy your formatting is, the more people it will be inaccessible for. Special characters break or display as boxes on older devices, precisely-spaced margins break in weird places when switching between desktop/mobile devices, weird characters & colors are rough on people with vision impairments, and if somebody's using a screen reader/text-to-speech a lot of the fancy formatting options prevent it from reading out correctly. If you want to not passively inconvenience some of your potential RP partners, keep the formatting simple.

Lots of blogs use icons—little bits of artwork to convey your character's expression/emotions. They're not mandatory! If you think they'll add to your fun then use them. If you don't think they'll add to your fun, don't feel like you've gotta put them in. If you do use icons, don't use somebody's fanart without permission. Notice I didn't even say "without credit"—I said "without permission." Unless they've got some kind of blanket "you can use my art for anything anywhere" statement on their art page, you've got to ASK THEM and GET A YES from them. Lots of people don't do this! You'll find people using fanart icons they got from someone who got it from someone else who got it from someone else who got it from an icon maker that releases icons in 500-image batches! I think it's rude. I don't even have a particularly #aesthetic art style but I'd be irritated if I discovered some RPer I'd never met before using a tiny filtered crop of one of my drawings in the middle of a dozen other tiny filtered crops of other people's drawings.

Hi, sorry I'm new to the Aro community could you elaborate on the old flags debate?

ooh okay so like I said in my tags this is from before me joining so if I get something wrong please @ me to the rest of y’all, but I’ll summarize what I know and supplement from the wiki (which doesn’t appear to have been updated in uhhh forever if they haven’t put a label of official on the flag everyone uses?):

basically, we’ve gone through 3 main flags for aro:

This buddy here is the green, yellow, orange, and black one. I don’t know what the colors where all proposed for, but feast your eyes on the eyesore of bright and inaccessible colors that to be honest are actually painful to me. Interestingly, that was not the main reason this one was cast away, but rather it’s similarity to the Rastafarian and Jamaican flags. I admit I struggle to see the similarities but I struggle to look at this one at all so 

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is the one I see most commonly used on tumblr incorrectly. Normal green, light green, light yellow, gray, and black. This one was vetoed for the eyesore reasons primarily reported by autistic a(ro?)specs who found the yellow painful or otherwise Not Good on a sensory level. If you aren’t familiar with that particular feature of autism and generally others like me who have fun sensory problems, I’ll give a quick note here: after viewing the previous one, everything in my room feels too bright and I have a migraine that’s trying to happen. Additionally everything sounds quieter than it should so??? idk sensory issues are weird.

Finally, we have the current aro flag, which has eliminated the color issues. The former yellow stripe is now white. To my knowledge, I’ve never seen anyone have any sensory or otherwise flag related issues with this design. There are, of course, people who don’t like specific colors from it etc, but I’ve never seen one that would necessitate a full community switch, though I have seen proposals to just take out the white stripe once or twice in the last five years.
