It's Friday, yay! And here is a treat for the eyes, an idea for a weekend trip, even! Situated in the southern foothills of the Bavarian Forest Mountain range & national park, at the confluence of the rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz, Passau is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Germany! These photographs were taken well over 15 years ago, but I don't think much has changed in the meantime. Enjoy!

Lithuanian president strips ballerina Ilze Liepa of citizenship over her support for Russia

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has stripped ballerina Ilze Liepa of her citizenship because of her words in support of Russia, the head of state’s press attaché Ridas Jasiulionis said.

The press attaché said the national citizenship commission recommended such decision. He clarified in an interview:

“The president agreed with the commission’s recommendation and stripped Liepa of Lithuanian citizenship for supporting a state that poses a threat to the security of Lithuania and its allies.”

Earlier, the artist stated in an interview that she regards what is happening in Ukraine as a confrontation of fundamental values. The artist herself repeatedly said that the threat of deprivation of Lithuanian citizenship would not affect her position. She was granted citizenship for her services to Lithuania.

Цього дня прозвучать традиційні українські та латиські колискові, знайомі кожному з дитинства. Цей простір буде наповнений турботою та дружньою підтримкою у складний сьогоднішній час. Учасниками суботньої зустрічі будуть: латиський миротворець Ілзе Дзеновська, українська художниця Марія Зенькова, традиційна латиська співачка Янта Межа та українська вокалістка та бандуристка Дар'я Лелеко. Захід проходитиме мовою серця та розуміння з використанням латиської, англійської, російської та української мов, щоб спілкуватися та розуміти один одного. Захід безкоштовний. Запрошуються сім'ї з дітьми, у кафе буде спеціально відведено дитячу зону, де будуть представлені розваги – настільні ігри та матеріали для малювання. Закуски та напої безкоштовно надасть ресторан «Борщ – vakariņas pie ukrainietēm». Вхід на фестиваль Survival Kit 13 для українців безкоштовний.

Voices Café is a safe, welcoming and free space for Ukrainians and their friends and supporters in Latvia to have an afternoon tea, listen to and participate in creating live music, share stories and build heartfelt connections with locals artists and peacebuilders.

WHERE? Survival Kit 13, Pils iela 23, Riga

This Saturday is the last event in the series of five happenings and it will be an afternoon filled with Ukrainian and Latvian lullabies, traditional singing opportunities of songs for soul and joy and space for nurturing and supporting ourselves and others through times of transition.You all we be welcomed by Latvian peacebuilder Ilze Dzenovska, Ukranian painter Marija Zenkova, traditional Latvian singer Janta Meža and Ukranian vocalist and bandurist Daria Leleko.Event will be held in the language of heart and understanding using Latvian, Russian and Ukranian in order to connect and understand each other.Families with children are very welcome to attend, as there will be a designated children’s area in the café, where attractions such as games and drawing materials will be provided.Snacks and drinks will be provided by the restaurant “Borščs – vakariņas pie ukrainietēm” (Borscht – dinner with Ukrainians).
