"Shut up."

There was silence between Sandor and Arya, he watches as hundreds of bodies lie in front of them. They couldn't give everyone a proper funeral after a war, but Sandor wished they did a proper funeral for you. But, he was being selfish, he cannot ask that because he was the only one who saw you special among the dead.

"He loved you back, you know?" Arya speaks after everyone started to make moves back into the castle walls, leaving the two of them alone.

"I know."

Sandor felt bitter, he could trade other people for you to be alive. He would happily give the Gods Jaime or Tormund, anyone just to have another moment with you.

He wants to drink the night away, but he can't because the best times of his life when he's drinking is when you are by his side. Moments like laughing at his stupid jokes and cracking some of your own, or if the mood was too dampened, then you would just enjoy each other's company.

When he picks up his sword he's thinking of you, how you would somehow appear out of nowhere with a smile upon your face, challenging him to a spar. You never won, but Clegane could see how you've improved over the years - one day, he had hoped that you would beat him, though now that day would never come.

Any battle meeting will never be the same when you're not around because you would always slip in a side eye, he tries his best not to laugh if he catches your eye. He always has to look anywhere but you, but your presence in the room makes him smile to himself.

He misses how you would say goodnight to him after walking to his door, how there was a soft glistening look within your eyes, they were soft and inviting. You never wanted to overstep his boundaries and when you did, he never minded. Just because it was you.

You were the only one for him.

He hates how he has regrets, he was living his life without any and when you waltzed in, everything changed.

He wished he had the courage to court you, but it was frowned upon, Loras got shit for it and he know he would get it even worst. There are a lot of unspoken words, many to you and to others, but mainly you.

Now, your time in the world is through and he has to face the world without you.

His heart breaks, it yearns for something that will never return to him.

After two weeks of creeping hysteria and stir-craziness redditors know what I mean, the scanlation for Chapter 222 (“Design”) has dropped. My usual new chapter rambling under the cut.

1. Hiori finds his mojo (isagi. it's been isagi all along)

I had hoped best boi's ego would be linked to combating Ubers more so than Isagi, but alas, the harem of simps/rivals proved too compelling to pass on. This seems to be set-up for Noa to substitute Hiori on in place of Kurona once the three-minute star change is over. But until then...

It's been pointed out on the subreddit that Isagi looks particularly good in that first panel. I would like to raise that Hiori is going doki-doki for Himsagi-kun in the second.

Guys, they know who they're appealing to with this manga. On that point...

2. Soccer Dad Star Showdown

Blue Lock!! Where one half of the fandom are here for the world-class ball keeping techniques and the other half of the fandom are here for... the world-class ball keeping techniques 😏 Guess what camp I'm in?

The effect normal panels of Snuffy and Noa have on me. Guess I have a kink for competent football dads 🤷 /s Chris Prince and Lavinho could never.

Anyway, Snuffy hits the pitch hot and doesn't let BM catch a break. I really enjoyed his and Noa's face off. As much chaos as Lavinho and Prince caused during the two previous matches, Snuffy strikes me as a far bigger threat in terms of dismantling BM's defence (and showing up Noa). It takes BM's two most talented forwards to see off the shot Snuffy sets up for Barou. At the end of the chapter, as Ubers regroup to take on BM's defence again, I have a sinking feeling Snuffy's going to win this confrontation. And perhaps he should. What's rational exactly about a team at war?

3. Ness tries

That's it.

Like for real. He runs in, doesn't touch the ball, gets read to filth by a fifteen year old, and isn't seen again in this chapter.

When are we going to see some magic from the magician?

It's high time for Ness (as a professional player) to get his head in the game. This is the guy that outperformed everybody but Kaiser in the original BM stamina and technique test. He's subservient to his emperor, but even then, how is he this lacklustre?

Since Noa only cares about numbers, it seems like Ness is here to stay... but it sure is frustrating.

4. Superbowl: Kaiser V Barou V Isagi

This is my favourite panel this week. Clock the auras: puzzles, thorned vines and lightning collide at last. Dope. I'm still new to colouring, so I'm not touching this one, but I can't WAIT to see what someone with serious skill does with it 🔥🔥🔥

It's refreshing to see Kaiser get worked up over someone other than Isagi. Got to spread the frustration, right?

Prediction tracker

(alternatively: how wrong can one nerd be week to week?)

Last time, I predicted: I think Snuffy's MO will be to set up a goal for Barou, while knocking Kaiser and Isagi down a peg. I hope he synergises with Lorenzo! Noa will be man marking Snuffy, but might get time to do some Isagi coaching while he's out there, who knows?

So far so good, right? I think this prediction will carry over into the next chapter. I'll caveat one thing: Isagi and Kaiser's backs must ache from carrying both the offence and defence of Bastard Munchen. They're the only BM players that aren't part of the circus as of the end of this chapter. Raichi, Yukimiya, Mensah and Birkenstock found dead in a ditch /s

I predict Barou will score the next goal, with Lorenzo providing an assist. Then Noa will make a substitution with the aim of countering Lorenzo and Ubers in the final play of the game...

Four chapters ago (chp 218), I predicted: As for who’ll be the true game changer? Said it already, but if Hiori’s not getting subbed on for our newly christened royal trash!Ness in the next five chapters, I’ll eat my hat. 🐑

Have a funny feeling he'll get subbed in the chapter after next. If I'm decided a clown by chp 223, watch the egg on my face get cooked by chp 224. I don't think Ness is getting subbed out at this point.

Oh, what a fabulous prompt, ty!!! I used to write so many recs back in the day and I’ve watched so much tv and read across so many fandoms over the years so this is far from comprehensive in terms of fandom reading spread. But it’s a good way to warm my reccing muscles up again. I always have more recs or can usually find some places with recs about that fandom.

Just Hear Those Slay Bells Jingling, Santa Clarita Diet. Abby/Eric. ~3k. Abby comes home from college on a break and just wants some time with her boyfriend but she just had to tempt fate. Laugh out loud perfect characterization.

Pain and Painting by foxtwin. Blackadder. Blackadder assists Prince George as he takes on a new hobby. This is one of the funniest, punniest wordplay fics ever. Blackadder fic writers are on another level!

Feel me like a steel knife by violet_pencil. Star Trek: Lower Decks. Mariner/Tendi. ~7k. Mariner is a trigger-happy baby and her heart is right between Tendi's sharp white teeth. The Mariner POV is incredible. I felt like I was joyriding through her brain.

Not a synonym for impossible by Siria. Elementary. Improbable was not a synonym for impossible. Joan and Alfredo discuss Alfredo’s crush on Miss Hudson, this is so cute.

Lest they be angels in disguise by singlecrow. Good Omens. Crowley, but Aziraphale/Crowley. 856 words. Buzzfeed, July 2019, "Top Five Off-the-Wall Theories About the Scary Instagram Plant Man.” Includes Instagram posts and internet gossip in this fic. 😂

There's a Fine Line Between Coincidence, Fate, and Jonathan Carnahan by celli. The Mummy. 483 words. Ardeth/Jonathon. Jonathan puffed up with outrage. "I will squander my fortune where I damn well please." 😍

Exactly what it says on the tin. It's a platonic reader-insert set in modern Seattle where Spamton has a terrible first impression of the city. There's attempted body modification, but don't even worry about it because it was just an honest whoopsies daisy. "You" work in art preservation and restoration at the museum of pop culture. Elaborate costumes and fragile puppets are old hat to you. Living ones however, are not your expertise. Mostly on account of the fact that technically, magical beings are a physical impossibility due to the very nature of souls in your world. (don't even worry about it man)

COCOC (Creator of Creator of Creation)

Summary: It really is a gift, to be able to be a part of the world "you" love so dearly. "You" are a living embodiment of fandom. Not in the metaphorical sense. "You" are the collective consciousness of hundreds upon hundreds of Spamton's fans, all shoved into one cramped and uncoordinated body. 'You' have god-like powers, able to summon matter from thin air and bend space itself to your will. 'You' can shapeshift, changing

Most people would think that having the combined life experiences of hundreds of people would make the resulting entity fairly skilled at most things. They would be sorely wrong. 'You' range from below average to painfully incompetent in most skills. You can barely cook and your shaky movements and strange, conflicted personality unsettle and scare most people that meet 'you.'

'You' are obsessive and unstable, barely able to string together words into a sentence, only just managing to cobble together a flimsy plan for winning over your obsession: Spamton. To 'you,' nothing else but him matters. The whole world and everyone in it could die so long as he was safe and happy for all 'you' care.

But with all the secrets you're hiding, he's sure to catch on. It would break 'you' if he was scared of 'you.' So, you'll do your best to keep him in the dark. He can be safe and happy like this, right?

i'm like 99% sure julie won't die so i'm not worried about her but omg tabitha is going through so much right now with her child in pain/danger and being unable to help... T_T

i felt really bad for mari when she said she doesn't want to be like this 😔 she deserves to get better and to get to be fully herself. she's getting a lot of hate in the fandom that i feel is unwarranted, we've only seen her being really sick and even then she's always been trying to help the others

this should be its own post but i'd like to see a jade and marielle friendship, she would probably get REALLY serious with him if she hears him casually joke about how much he's into party drugs like he did around kenny, and tell him that he should count himself lucky to still be able to just get away from all that consequence-free. i also want a boyd and marielle dynamic, he's good at adopting troubled girls

team tabby

i don't need a lot to be happy. jade sitting as autistically as possible on the kitchen counter means everything to me. he's just so easy to love, like a cat. also i really appreciate the way the show moved heaven and earth to make jade and tabby end up alone together for the night. the matthews house getting demolished + the new horror making it so that no one can be alone at night + jim leaving his family to go on his crazy adventure at the RV... im grateful i truly am

jade really took the supportive role to tabby's lead in the investigation and i love that for them. there's something so special to me about this dynamic, we're so used to genius guy detective + layman sidekick, seeing it flipped is so special to me. tabby is so awesome that the rich genius guy is actually her sidekick! love them sm

victor, tian chen, julie and ethan were so so sweet i'm literally heartbroken about what ethan said to victor!!! now that jade just learned to be normal istg this poor man can't catch a break???? he's a kid and he's scared i obviously don't blame him but i bet victor was so hurt T_T still im really happy to see him be more social. he's in good hands with tian chen. i swear the new "can't be alone at night" horror was engineered in a lab to socialise the loners against their will like feral kittens and i'm so down with it LMAO like yes you can bet i'll write jade fanfic about this

im really enjoying these scenes even if i'm suffering so much for kenny and i just want to yoink him out of this depressing plot they got him in, he belonged in that room playing board games with victor the kids and his mom istg!!! but all the sara scenes are extremely compelling and omg kenny is just so !!! i need to hug him. he went through that to keep everyone else safe SIGHS

sara's got a... way of dealing with the whole thing that's for sure. she brought up like the worst possible conversation topic when looking at the map LMAO i just couldn't believe it was possible to screw up that bad. i kinda have a bit of paranoia specifically about going crazy and killing someone and then having to emotionally deal with that (just my brain being my brain dont ask) so her plot fascinates me because i've mulled over how i'd feel and how i'd deal with a situation like that so much. but i draw the sympathy line at hurting kenny and she's still hurting him so !!!!!!!! girl just shut up when he asks you to shut up it's not that hard arghh

really good insight about the place and peoples fears though. was she saying that the place gets stronger the more people it manages to kill? thats a really nice explanation for all the mix-and-match weird horror stuff going on together at the same time tbh, i like it a lot if it's like that. if khatri was afraid of god's punishment or something like that then i guess they're royally fucked (some of victor's drawings showed the place getting flooded...)

Izuru

It has taken me a while, but I finally came to appreciate Izuru Kira. He's an underrated character in my opinion, and if he'd had more screen/panel time, I think he'd have more appreciation. I just feel like there's so much to explore with him, from how he recovered after Gin's betrayal to how he is after losing his arm and a part of torso. He's gotten some really good moments in battle (the panel of him vs the chicken Lilles comes to mind - which is such a badass panel, just look at this thing:

He just seems to have attracted a lot of misfortune ever since he became a Shinigami, and it feels like it's transformed him in a sad way. He's still a happy person, still having good friends and smiling with them, but he's also got this sad and angry side to him that he shows mainly in battle. Heck, we even saw in the latest one shot that he chose to be in a position that gave him solitude :( To top it all off, Kubo has even said Izuru's bankai would be 'gross', The guy just can't catch a break!

Gin

This man once had a choke hold on me. I still really like Gin, he'll always been in my top 20 favourite BLEACH characters for how complex he is and fun and intrguing it was to watch him. However, maybe as time has gone on and I've gotten older, I've recognized just how much his actions affected those around him. His path to vengeance made it that he never got close to Rangiku once he became a Shinigami, even though he was doing all of this for her. Of course, if she knew what he was doing, she'd try to stop him because it's not what she wanted; all she wanted was for him to be by her side while they went through struggles. And I know this is all part of the tragedy of both their stories, but this and some of the other things he does (ie. torments Rukia, manipulates Izuru) does make me dislike Gin a tiny bit.

However, even though I don't ship Ginran as hard as I used, I will never not cry when I reread Gin's death and his last interactions with Rangiku. I'll never forget my first time reading those chapter and the utter devastation they caused in the fandom and in me.

"Return to Eden" is a 1985 TV series that I watched as a child. Now, having stumbled upon it on the internet, I have revisited the key points with pleasure. And even looked into the book on which it was based. In both the series and the novel, the most interesting character was Jake Sanders and his relationship with Stephanie.

And since this is a trope "from enemies to lovers", how could I resist?

Stephanie nodded as she sat in a chair outside the new president's office.

Her eyes flickered to the folder she held in her hands. Bill McMaster sent a folder of papers this morning and Stephanie didn't need to go through them. Bill's voice on the phone told her everything. A new history of ‘Harper Mining’ has been written in stock quotes and the verdict for Stephanie – the end.

Stephanie leaned back wearily, leaning against the wall. It was dark in her eyes, a small ocean raged in her ears.

The thought of the ocean hurt. As if it wasn't enough for her what Sanders did with her company. As if there were not enough worries with the family and the rabid Jilly. Dan should have left her.

You lie, you lie, the ocean whispered.

The haze inside trembled, letting in the memories that she suppressed, filled with work, business, giving herself to the struggle. Dan left when Bill McMaster sent a plane for her so she could rush to the rescue of the sinking ‘Harper Mining’, breaking their retreat on a tropical island.

He didn't resist. He did not swear and did not begin to sort things out. Just said it's over. And left. And Stephanie remained, feverishly leafing through papers and stock reports.

Dan said you don't want someone like him. He said you need another, the ocean rustled.

Now that she had lost... When there was nothing left... What did it all matter... true, doubt, or lie?

The picture of farewell to Dan was replaced by another one – Stephanie rushes through the park on a horse in the early morning, and a man catches up with her trail after trail on a horse, laughing and enjoying the game. Enjoying the fact that he lost.

‘Mr. Sanders is waiting for you, Miss Harper.’

Stephanie got up. She looked at the secretary, smiled in response to her confused look. Then she turned to the door and entered.

It was like their first meeting. Here in her office. He stood then where he is now. He looked with the same wary squint as if he was waiting for something from her. Stephanie walked over to him.

‘You won.’ She pointed to the folder.

Jake just nodded in response.

‘That means I'm leaving.’

‘I told you, you can have everything.’

Stephanie shook her head.

‘I told you.’ He looked calmly and intently. ‘My offer still stands.’

‘Listen, Jake,’ Stephanie said. ‘You can get the company, but you can't get me.’

‘And become like your ex-husband?’

Stephanie winced.

‘What?’

‘Although your husband was not a shareholder of ‘Harper Mining’, he didn’t… have you either,’ Jake said looking her straight in the eyes.

She looked at him silently.

‘Why am I worse in this case?’ he added quietly.

Stephanie turned away.

‘Say just one word,’ came a voice from behind her. ‘Just one word – and it will be yours again.’

‘And you –’

‘No conditions.’

‘I do not believe. Do not believe you.’

Stephanie spun around so abruptly that the lapels of her jacket were pressed into the folds of his shirt. He looked at her seriously. Looked for a very long time. Then he turned and walked over to the table, leaning over it.

Cautiously, Stephanie watched him go through the papers, looking for something in them, then took a pen and signed the document in a flourish – one copy and the second.

‘Take it.’

Stephanie lowered her eyes.

It was a contract for the ownership of ‘Harper Mining’. Absolute control for Stephanie Elizabeth Harper, the complete package. No claims from the main shareholder. He hereby declares that his share in the firm belongs to her.

‘Why?’ She lifted her head, once again meeting the sharp gaze directed at her.

‘You know why,’ he replied.

And how she wanted him.

Years ago, Prince Amal told her, ‘Desires are like dogs. They will bite you to death if you can't tame them.’

Some dogs are never tamed.

Stephanie pressed her palms to her burning cheeks.

‘You want to destroy me.’

‘No,’ he said as he approached. ‘No more.’

Stephanie didn't know why she called Dan.

‘Seven years of marriage can’t be thrown away so easily,’ an inner voice reminded her.

Seven years of a successful marriage.

‘Dan, I feel so mean.’

‘Just because,’ the ocean waves rustled against the background of a warm voice, ‘that you are finally following who you are?’

Stephanie was silent.

‘Am I a predator? A woman who is indifferent to reason, conscience, and honor?’

‘Who speaks of indifference to conscience?’

I fell in love with him while I was married to you.

‘You just found someone who suits you.’ Dan always knew how to hear her better than herself.

‘When we met there, on Orpheus –’

‘– you were wounded, crippled. Physically and in spirit. Stephanie, you've been flayed in both ways.’ Dan's voice was deep and sad. ‘I've always understood that. I knew I shouldn't have... I was treating you. Pulled you out of the abyss you fell into, but let's be honest – I should have left you on the shore.’

She was silent, clutching the telephone receiver. How many times did she think about it? How many times has Dan tried to start this conversation? After the first hot months together, after the first happy years. When the charm of novelty faded, and it became clear to both of them that the relationship between the patient and the doctor could not last forever, and they as real people were too different and, in general, strangers?’

‘Sorry, Dan,’ she said. ‘Sorry, I was a coward.’

He laughed.

‘Not you,’ he said laughing. ‘Stephanie Harper, not you.’

But the ocean behind him added, ‘You, however, have every chance to become the one now.’

They said goodbye warmly and affectionately – and, after putting down the phone, Stephanie went into the dressing room.

She had to choose an outfit.

‘I didn't think you'd come.’

‘I owe you.’

‘Not true.’

Stephanie strode into the hotel room. She turned around. From his office at ‘Harper Mining’, she retreated as quickly as if she was being chased. Now, having already made up her mind, she suddenly realized that she did not know ...

‘I've been in charge all my life,’ she said, looking at Jake. ‘Always. With everyone. All my life. Do you know what it is – when around you are either servants or your employees, or ... And even your own husband …’

She didn't want to remember Greg Marsden. But it had to be admitted that the champion tennis player who tried to feed her to the crocodiles somehow also must have thought he had sacrificed his career because of her.

It had to be admitted that Jake Sanders was the first man who was in no way inferior to her – and it was not about money. It was not about his position. It was about him.

He stood in front of her and smiled slightly.

‘This is a warning?’

Stephanie felt something click inside her, a spring that had been compressed for many years.

‘That's an order. Change it,’ she said, pulling Jake towards her.

Stephanie thought it would be a battle. As in business, as in the past ten months, when their weapons were stock quotes, sharp gazes, and unbridled excitement.

She was waiting for him to play out – for teasing him, for defeating him, for refusing him for so long. But he just played instead. Played on her.

It was old music. Familiar, strong, the echoes of which Stephanie has heard all her life. Music, which she tried with all her might to drown out. Music that didn't culminate in an orgasm at all. Frightening her for so long, drawing her to it.

‘Kiss me, winner,’ Stephanie whispered with a laugh to Jake, who was hugging her.

… The announcement in the newspaper was strict and concise.

‘Miss Stephanie Elizabeth Harper and Mr. Jake William Sanders announced their engagement on December 15, 1985. The marriage will take place at the Harper family estate called Eden.’

‘Bill was screaming so loud I thought I was going to go deaf.’

‘I'm more concerned about the prince's possible reaction.’

Stephanie shrugged.

‘And my best friend,’ she smiled.

REDACTED verse - Game day (we're there as the audience!)

I've been talking to @yerawizardharreh lately because of the Games, and since I'm feeling a bit braver today and in desperate need of something fun to distract my anxiety for the upcoming videos, here's my take on what'll happen if we're all at the stadium, watching the E&E Games!

I'm sorry that I can't include everyone, and I hope I managed to get everyone's personalities and favs correctly. The purpose of this oneshot is to uplift those in this fandom before shits hit the proverbial fan so if I accidentally hurt anyone's feeling, please DM me so I can either make the edits or hide this post.

So let's be honest, we all will be cheering for the Freelancer - though Aster would be busy cheering for Milo patrolling near the stairs. When he caught them grinning and waving wildly, Milo couldn't help but blow a quick kiss at them - because they deserve the support.

Once Hudson calls for a break before the next round, Jay & Cami would already be missing. Where are they? They're hunting down Darling & Sam! These two would easily become friends with the couple, especially once Darling realises that they and Jay have so much in common. Catch them teasing Sam while Cami offers her help in tracking Quinn down. Does she have an ulterior motive of her own regarding the rogue Vampire? We'll just have to see~

Meanwhile, Gavin is trying to calm a hyperactive Caelum from going supernova with Mads. Gavin now has his hands full dealing with the two, while Caelum is so happy because Mads' kind and excitable energy matches his. These two can talk about how great the Freelancer is until Gavin ushers them to a nearby food stall, so they remain hydrated.

Kai, Beans and I are on a mission! After Kai greets Huxley to hyped him up for his turn, Huxley is so touched that she's treated to a warm hug from the big man himself. Beans and I would be snacking until Kai regrouped with us to hunt for Kody. We'll be shamelessly trying to make Kody trip and land his stupid ass in a dumpster or something. The next thing on the agenda? Oh, nothing... maybe just... wander around looking for Will. Because I know for a fact that the Solaire Clan would love to admire Bean's beautiful artworks of them.

Johan, Cait, Romi and Floof are super busy discussing how the upcoming Games will play out at the D.A.M.N cafeteria. Their theories and analysis are so insanely insightful that there's now a crowd around them; everyone is eager to hear what they have to say. Hell, their discussions and debate attracted inquiring minds like Damien into the fold.

And lingering somewhere in the background, Asher keeps an open ear to their talks. It's always good to know what to expect! He also wonders if the four are the top students in the academy with the way how they present themselves.

Somewhere within the campus is Doll, helplessly lost. They're supposed to meet up with Aster before the next round of the Games begins. Fortunately, their saviour is Lasko! He was just about to escort the following participants to their designated area when he came across Doll. At first, Lasko is painfully shy against Doll's cheery and straightforward vibe, but once he realises that they're also very open-minded and patient, these two can't stop chatting about board games and how awesome their friends are.

And lastly, seated among the VIP guests of the Games and under heavy guard of David himself, Teddy carefully takes note of this year's participants and the atmosphere of the crowds in the stadium so that everyone is safe. The moment he catches something is off - be it a sudden faulty of equipment carried by the security forces, a group of uneasy people somewhere among the audience or the sudden shift of magic in the air - he'll quickly work with the Alpha to solve them as quickly and efficiently as possible.

He uses another personality, a completely ruthless one, even if he doesn't like it and hates himself for it, he doesn't see another way to deal with his fear, allowing his "new self" to consume himself. How she looks at me as if I'm trash" "I want to be praised" "I'm different from you all, I have my own ego! I'm not a side character" "I have zero common sense. I'm special")

Villain-Stella Jang: He knows damn well he's a villain, that's his goal after all, but what if someone took his point of view? wouldn't the villains be all of those who hurted him in the first place? ("We all pretend to be the heroes on the good side, but what if we are the villains on the other")

Violent-carolesdaughter: This is how I view an argument inside a relationship with Niragi. He's used to violence, to cause fear, and getting what he wants, so being in a healthy relationship would require a lot of patience and strenght. While he's getting better and suppressing those violent actions, there will be times where he accidentally uses violence or threatens the other person unintentionally, mostly hurting himself and his partner psychologically. The lyrics change between both points of view ("Don't make me get violent, I want my ring back baby that's a diamond" "She knows I'm a wreck" "I gave you all my trust and I told you just don't break it")

Kokoronashi-majiko: I'm pretty sure Niragi isn't able to see himself as someone able to love, even if he doesn't want to be alone (just like when he confesses this feeling while fighting with Chishiya and Arisu). If someone truly loved him and was willing to not letting him go, it would hurt. He can't see himself as someone who can love or be loved, so he can't accept the love he's seeking for in case that turns him "weaker" making his true self confront with the protective mean personality he's created. He could learn how to accept it, so he might want the other person to stay in the end, but it wouldn't be easy for him to accept it ("It's awful, I'd rather you destroy my body, tear it to sheds, do as you please" "No matter how much I'm loved by you, my heart is just one" "I don't know this, don't leave me alone")

G: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

i much prefer working start to finish, because i like to know what comes before — otherwise i find myself adding details into later scenes that i have to take out because i introduce them more naturally earlier on. i have written out of order just to force myself to get things done, but it makes me antsy as hell. plus i enjoy narratives that play with time, and i find i can't effectively do that when i write scenes out of order.

but also i plan a lot before i start writing, so even when i write out of order i have effectively "written" in order in my notes already

J: Write or describe an alternative ending to [insert fic].

i am assuming you are okay with me picking any of my fic to do this for, so hmm let's see! i find it hard to envision a different ending for anything once i've written it, ha (aside from come together because i play with a lot of different possibilities in plotlines before deciding what to do). but i guess if we never meet again could've ended a lot of different ways, the most tempting of which was having them make up and confess to each other in the backstage scene, but i resisted because i wanted a full-circle moment in the house.

O: How do you begin a story–with the plot, or the characters?

i guess this is a non-answer, but kind of both and neither. i begin a story with a hook — i.e. the entry-point into a story that makes it "different." (i use "different" loosely lol.) so sometimes the hook is a plot (e.g. "what if they hooked up and he played quidditch and she suddenly starts working with him?") and sometimes it's a character aspect (e.g. "what if lily's a divorced actress on the verge of her big break?" or "if SWM was the first time james asked her out, what does that do to the james-lily equation?")

T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?

ahahaha.

honestly i think i've discovered that i'm more of a purist than i thought — i.e. as long as a trope interacts meaningfully with canon i am likely to enjoy it, and if a trope diverges from canon in a way that isn't really fruitful i will not enjoy it.

but also there are some tropes i just find to be stale — james asking lily out 900 billion times is one of them, i've read a lot of it, i can count on one hand the number of times i thought oh this is actually well-done

V: If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

oooh this is a fun one. HM! this is so silly and so minor but catch me writing mellow is the man prequel fic that's just lily's boarding school days slice of life baby debate with remus lupin interspersed with one single interlude of james going Who's That Girl

Do you actually think Eve would like to have sex with Villanelle? I just can't picture it :/

There’s two responses to that question, Anonymous. The first is, Eve would crawl naked over broken, burning glass to get Villanelle into bed. That’s the second response is a question posed back atcha and that’s did you stop watching after the first episode? You can’t be watching the same show I’ve been watching. Go back to Season One and this brief exchange between Konstantin and Eve:

Konstanin: We just need to give her what she wants.

Eve: Me.

Now even if you want to forget Villanelle saying, “You either” to Eve after telling Konstantin not to break her heart or Eve’s desperate plea to Villanelle to “Come with me. Just you and me,” you cannot tell me what she tells the amorous assassin in her apartment is anything less than a tacit admission that she’s down to fuck.

“I think about you all the time. I think about what you're wearing and what you're doing and who you're doing it with. I think about what friends you have. I think about what you eat before you work and what shampoo you use and what happened in your family. I think about your eyes and your mouth and what you feel when you kill someone. I think about what you have for breakfast. I just... want to know everything.”

Now that---that there is the true confession of a woman who really wants to make another woman a shitty omelette for her breakfast, but only after they have slept together. Even after stabbing Villanelle and coming up with one of the dumbest, half-assed plans anyone has ever cooked up to see their girlfriend again, there’s no playing coy and hard to get from Eve when Villanelle bends her back against a sink and trails a sharp knife down between her heaving breasts. “I'm expensive.”

“I know.”

“Will you give me everything I want?“

“Yes.” There is no reluctance in Eve’s response. She’s not playing games. Long, short or otherwise. She wants Villanelle. Eve has hurt her terribly and giving in to what they both want is the most logical way to settle matters between them.

But who said Killing Eve was logical?

Villanelle doesn’t take what she wants from Eve because consent is a big thing for her. She’s not going to force Eve to do anything she’s not completely ready to do and Eve is desperately clinging to the last small crumbs of her disintegrating heterosexuality. In the Forest of Dean, Eve reverts back to being a cold and nasty piece of work who can’t even muster up a sincere “thank you” for Villanelle and she pretty much stays in that mode all the way until the end of Season 3. Villanelle’s lust for Eve is overt and she’s done everything she could do except hump her leg to make it plain. Somebody tells you they masturbate to you a lot and it’s not a reach to suppose they maybe kinda sorta want to break you like a pony. Eve isn’t where Villanelle already is. She’s getting there, but any momentum that picked up in Season Two under Emerald Fennell, disappeared in S3 because Suzanne Heathcote had no interest in evolving Eve’s sexuality (or anything else about Eve, but that’s another topic entirely). Other television shows aren’t as timid about getting to the girl-on-girl action as Wynonna Earp proved and that’s on frigging’ SyFy! Meanwhile the perpetual foreplay of the higher profile and much celebrated Killing Eve looks quaint in comparison, yet even slow burns have to either catch fire or fizzle out. A 2019 essay by Jill Gutowitz puts it well: I think some queer women have an almost masochistic need for sexual tension; we thrive off of it, and we love to pine and yearn and lust. I often joke that “glances” qualify as a love language of queer women, but I’m somewhat serious. Before a queer person is out, and before being out was at all accepted, one stealthy glance was all we had to communicate sexual desire to another person. And as far as I’m concerned, a series of gay glances is essentially “a relationship.” So much of real queer women’s love lives, my own included, have been defined by will-they-won’t-they’s, chasing women we weren’t sure were queer or not, and taking those small moments — glances, clandestine hand-holds, unspoken tensions — for actual affection. Because to us, those slivers of attention have made us feel wanted or loved, even if it’s not in the healthiest way. So a part of me strongly identifies with Villanelle and Eve’s inability to pull the trigger on an actual, physical relationship, and a large part of me really enjoys watching them stew and simmer in it all. It’s infuriating, it’s uncomfortable, it’s excruciating, and it’s highly lesbian.

In the fifth episode of season two, the “Sisyphean” one, Eve and Villanelle reunite for the first time since last season’s finale, when Eve had stabbed Villanelle in the gut just when they were about to kiss. Eve places a hit on herself in order to lure Villanelle into her home (as if Villanelle needed much pushing). In Eve’s kitchen, Villanelle grabs the MI6 agent by the waist and pulls her in for the second biggest almost-kiss in the series. The gravity of lust in their eyes and mouths is so steamy, it nearly killed me. Ultimately, I knew they wouldn’t actually kiss, but I didn’t need them to. I just wanted more sexual tension. More, more, more. Even in the chaste S3, Heathcote allowed Eve and Villanelle one moment with the world’s most awkward and unseemly kiss since an upside-down Spider-Man kissed Mary Jane in the rain. The wide-eyed lip lock Eve laid on Villanelle has grown less sexy as time goes by, but after three seasons we were all starved for something--ANYTHING--to give us some hope to cling to by snogging Villanelle, Eve did indeed want to get horizontal with her. Which brings us to today and everything is still as it was in the first episode of Killing Eve. Eve is tap-dancing around what she wants and who she is and Villanelle noticeably lost all interest in Eve between E3 and E8 in Season 3, and why fanfics exist in the first fucking place and will only thrive until Season 4.

Ultimately, we may never get beyond Eve and Villanelle’s long simmering sexual tension to actually having sex and if we don’t I will declare Killing Eve cheated their patient, long-suffering fandom because if this were two hets in the lead, they would have done the deed by now. Even if E&V never consummate their relationship, it won’t be because they aren’t very much attracted to each other, and yes, it does means Eve wants Villanelle too.
