Broken chains are nowhere in the ars goetia with Orobas, this is my artistic license because Orobas is associated with truth, and I equate truth with freedom, and freedom with the breaking of chains.

Inktober 2023 — Day 21 — Chains

So can we all agree that Ever After High’s initial ideology before Raven set out for her own destiny was absolutely insane? Like, every kid who goes into that school hands to sign away their destiny and their freedom and are required to follow in their parents’ footsteps. So if you have an unfortunate parent, you’re screwed! And it’s not just the students who tell you that, it’s the staff too! That cannot be a healthy learning environment! Heck, Twisted Wonderland has a healthier fairytale-based school and Night Raven College is filled with Overblots!

Little ramble aside, I really like Ever After High as a series. The characters are charming, the story is wondrous, and the animation is beautiful! I wish we got to see more of it. That being said, I am very proud of today’s drawing. Once the idea was in my head, I knew it would suit today’s prompt very well. It’s based on the Legacy Day episode where Raven saw into her possible future (which was pretty messed up), though I imagine this may be a nightmare she’s having since her outfit is what she wears now. Speaking of which, Ever After High outfits are so complicated! Props to the animators who put in so much detail!

Before I go, there’s a quote from an anime that I’ve seen a bit of, Princess Tutu, that I believe fits Ever After High strangely well and I just couldn’t leave out: “May those who accept their fate be granted happiness. May those who defy their fate be granted glory."
