(or most likely I didn't, but wouldn't it be cool if I did?)
So as @regulusrules shared in a post 3 days ago, Eoin is Up To Something. Which might or might not be related to Merlin. He is visiting Ireland, posting about a new project he was working on...
So I've been stalking his page ever since. Today he shared a story, reposted from Adam Weafer's account (private)
At first, I did not pay much mind to it until I saw the caption at the bottom saying "Where's Waldo", which to me sounded very much like a challenge. So I found him.
I noticed the huge advertisement for a shop called "make blink" there on the left, so I looked for it on Google and found out that there is only one "make blink" in the world, and is located in Dublin. I also noticed in the photo that there is a Subway on the right and so I looked for it on maps just to make sure and...
Seems close enough. But just to show you this is the right place...
Either way, this is actually quite useless information even if quite creepy on my part...
That is what I WOULD say if I didn't look for more information which is exactly what I did and I didn't have to look for long. 10 minutes by foot from the (X) location I found...

So what does this tell us???
Nothing. It's all probably just a coincidence and this was just something creepy for me to do. Either way, I found that interesting. And if it is actually related to Merlin, well... that's cool, I guess.

1. How many works do you have on AO3? 313. 113 of them are 3SF fics so they only sort of count? I haven't even posted 2024's batch yet.
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 452,247
3. What fandoms do you write for? My fandoms list on AO3 is...long. Like 80+ fandoms long. This is once again due to 3SF; fandoms I am or have been actually active in are Firefly, Chronicles of Narnia, Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, Grisha Trilogy/Shadow and Bone, and Greek Mythology.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Drunk on the Dying Light [Grisha Trilogy, Darklina] A blood-soaked amplifier gives Alina the ability to control him, but the Darkling still haunts her; all the more so once she becomes his wife.
Maybe It Will All Come Back to Me [A Song of Ice and Fire, Jon/Arya] The wars are over, Daenerys is on the Iron Throne, and Arya finds Jon at last, though neither of them are who they were before.
Hold My Heart in Two [A Song of Ice and Fire, Jon/Arya/Sansa] The lone wolf dies, but the pack survives, in whatever form.
The World That's on the Other Side [Firefly, Mal/River] When River Tam is fourteen, she meets a man who tells her her future. She doesn't want it, but he's a different matter altogether.
The Ladies Love Wash, and Wash Loves the Ladies [Firefly, Wash & all the women of Firefly] Wash is popular with the womenfolk; it's just a fact of life.
5. Do you respond to comments? I always try to! Usually I am successful.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I don't write unhappy endings too often, but two stand out - Always, we strive to get closer, one of my Narnia Fic Exchange fics from last year in which a post-canon Edmund battles through memories to find Susan, only to find she's not ready to give up living even for him, and A Rush of Blood Is Not Enough, a Folk of the Air sex-pollen fic where Jude unknowingly dubcons Cardan and he's very angry once it wears off.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of mine have happy or at least bittersweet endings, so this is hard - but it might well be The World That's on the Other Side, where Mal and River manage to fix everything bad that happened in canon before any of it technically happens at all.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Rarely, since I'm a NNF. I used to get a bit back in the day when I was actively writing Mal/River due to the age gap and mental stability issues inherent in that pairing, and now I get a comment or two on the Darklina fics from time to time. They just get deleted.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes! I write pretty vanilla M/F and F/F smut; haven't gotten further than the mildest of kinks so far.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? All the time. The craziest are probably the Where's Waldo/LotR or Narnia/Sports Mascot RPF [sort of??? how do you even classify fic in which Gritty appears?], both from 3SF. For non 3SF, it's almost all Narnia/ASoIaF. Probably the most unusual of those is The Truth Without Lying, since that's partly a 1940/50s England AU of ASoIaF as well as a crossover.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of, but I don't look for it.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yep. There's three of them on AO3, and I've been asked other times, though if those were done they didn't get linked back to my originals.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Only in 3SF, where you can 'cowrite' in terms of leaving a series of prompts or fills with a specific partner or two. That I do almost every year. In the traditional sense, no.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? I don't really work in Firefly anymore for the obvious reasons (dead fandom, the Whedon of it all), but rereading any of my Mal/River work still feels like meeting up with old friends. I love them.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I had a third and fourth part of my Mal/River series Love Keeps Her in the Air planned out, and a good 1/3 of part three written. It's literally the only unfinished fic I have. It never got finished because I moved across the country during the middle of it and my ambition never quite recovered.
16. What are your writing strengths? Dialogue and characterization. I'm very good at getting character voices down (and typically just avoid writing characters I can't get a handle on, honestly).
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Plot. Beginnings. The absolute worst. This is why I have no WIPs; if I manage to actually get something started, the hard part is out of the way for me.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I used to do this all the time in Firefly, using Mandarin phrases they'd used in the show. Everyone did at the time. Now I wouldn't; I'd go the "swore at length in Mandarin" route, or just use dialogue tags and description to indicate the characters are speaking another language, like I do with Valyrian in my HotD fics.
19. First fandom you wrote for? LotR, a very long time ago. Firefly is the first one I published anything for that's still on the internet.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? I have so many favorites! I couldn't possibly choose one, except I could and it's The World That's on the Other Side. The ones written during ~the flow are always my faves, and that one stands out the most in that regard.

but I do not like this trend where people put their rules and muse pages behind a damn I Spy book, where I have to click through like, five different pages and search for tiny links to find your info
maybe I'm an old man but all I ask is that you have clear and obvious information, I don't care how 'pretty' you think it looks, do not hide needed info behind a damn where's waldo page
one more thing
why do people insist on formatting lists in the most convoluted ways possible
there are four things an interested rper needs to know: name of muse, fandom, fc (if any), and whether they are canon or not
I do not get this trend of just throwing them all together with no info as though people can just see a name and the name of a FC and be like 'yes I totally know who this is' especially if they're an OC
why are you making me guess whether or not your muse is an OC and guess what fandom they're a part of
idk maybe it's just my autism but there's a reason why I refuse to use a theme or anything on my blog, because I want people to have easy access to relevant info
most people don't even read any of it anyway, so making it easier for those that do just seems rational to me
idk just feels bad to be like 'I'd love to learn more about your muses but sadly I do not have the time to go on safari and discover where you've hidden the information and links'

i think we’ve had it worse but regarding louis’ position in the fandom i guess we can still go lower and that makes me anxious(random thoughts im dumping here)
not sure what exactly you meant but imo until louis can reach a point where he doesn't (seem to) rely on fans who obsess over this alleged/not alleged past/present connection with harry, he remains dependent on the HL narrative and the involvement of larries. even if louis weren't confrontational with larrie fans like he is sometimes or if some larries weren't overly intrusive (not poor chicken girl obvi but we know there are some coocoo ppl everywhere), this approach still wouldn't be sustainable for building a lasting career.
im all up for him getting to the point where harry is which is basically not needing larries to sustain him at all. but i just don’t see the efforts?? lets not get into the whole where is waldo game when it comes to promotion again.
so im with you on that! it’s sad that the only way you can get publicity is if you yourself are larrybaiting lol. at the end of the day its just chicken?? who’s the obsessed one now? it’s a damn tweet just ignore it??
there has to be more strategic ways to revamp your fandom if you so desperately need that but this one was just plain cringe.

hi babes! last night i was able to chat with someone who was in the austin fandom while filming was going on and they were able to give me both general insight AND my auslivia magnum opus, the lilyrosegate comment she liked about how she could do better (the one with 48 likes). big big s/o and thank you to them <3 a needed timeline cleanse from the other um news of the morning LOL
- if you are thinking ‘damn her comment section looks a little intense’ it was apparently like that consistently throughout all the drama w/ austin during filming and after with lily rose. long and short of it being that the internet was just not nice to her at all 💔 learning that made me want to rip my hair out. olivia get behind me!!!
- i know when exactly the shirtgate™️ post happened has been a bit of an elusive mystery on here but it was indeed january 2nd, two weeksish before the vaustin breakup hit headlines.
- she would apparently post and delete things with him in it, even if he was ‘hidden’ like a where’s waldo puzzle, a lot LOL #girlbossmoment. but given how ppl apparently acted in her comments i don’t blame her for being finicky. one of those things was apparently her dad’s birthday 🫠

Hello, hello. Now that I have seen 4x12, I can definitely say that I was more concerned about Alex than that thing on Michael’s face. Was there even a mustache? 😎 <- (mustache blinders) Every scene was filled with Where’s Waldo Alex? Is he okay? Are they helping him? His Beanie! And all their scenes that caused me emotional distress…which would be all of them. Anyway, those two idiots - I don’t know how I’m supposed to live without them. I’m gonna miss them so much. And the rest of them too. Despite all of the show’s faults, I’m still going to miss it a lot. - 👨🏻 anon
You're totally right anon. I mean, I am still aware of that thing on his face. I will unfortunately always be aware of it while watching S4. But Alex definitely makes it more tolerable just by existing on screen with Michael.
I just cannot believe NO ONE made a remark about the mustache this season! NOT EVEN ISOBEL. Isobel! Who complained about THE CURLS after she was in a pod for six weeks!!! Unbelievable.
I dunno how long you've been in the fandom, anon, but I've been here since February 2019. So it feels a bit like I'm grieving, losing RNM. I kinda feel like I have been already since CAM left and some of my favorite aspects of the show changed as a result.
But it's still this show that I absolutely love and adore and characters that inspired me enough to start writing fanfic again. And for all that, RNM is always going to hold a special place in my heart.
I'm excited for Monday, but it's also sad. Bittersweet, I guess.

Whump: The Musical Day 10: Rent ("Feels Too Damn Much Like Home.")
Fandom: The Clone Wars
Summary: while on Geonosis, Anakin feels too close to home. He never did like sand.
Some part of Anakin Skywalker never stopped calling Tatooine home. Even though he lived at the Jedi temple on Coruscant, he had grown up on that sandy planet. It would take four days to travel just to get there.
So being in Geonosis was strange. The planet had the same hellish feeling as his home world. Memories of who he had tended to linger in his mind.
It seemed like yesterday the boy was pod rasing and trying to distract himself from the horrible things that happened in the desert planet of Tatooine. The nine year old would try to reassure his mother that he was okay, that the fights and spice dealing never bothered him.
In truth it had. How could people be so ready to kill each other, he would wonder. While now he understood the willingness to kill now, the little boy he had been hadn't gotten there yet.
Other than with Waldo, the stupid, slimy man who had kept him and his mother enslaved. Even when he was younger, if Anakin could have killed him, he would have. Maybe then his mother wouldn't be dead.
Most of the time, when Anakin thought about his mother's death, he blamed himself. That did change.
The sand that moved under the Jedi's feet, always made him think of home. It was never pleasant, but he would go where he was needed. The council would still ask from time to time, mindful of his trauma, if he was sure about taking the missions. Every time he would say yes.
The sun's heat beat down on Anakin and Obi-wan. Another thing that bothered him. With his tolerance of the heat, Anakin never thought that it made sense for it to bother him so much. Maybe it wasn't the heat, but instead the memories.
"You seem distracted" Obi-wan told him. The two walked side by side. At first Anakin didn't say anything. So Kenobi continued, "are you okay?"
"Feels too damn much like home" Anakin scowled. "The sand and the heat, they just remind me of Tatooine."
Thinking about what to say in response, Obi-wan nodded. "If you need anything-"
"I'm fine" Anakin interrupted. Again, the older Jedi nodded.
Anakin wasn't sure if he was actually okay. Still, what else was he going to say. 'Reminds me of my dead mother, of the first nine years of my life when I was a slave who had to win his freedom by winning a pod race?' Yeah he didn't think so. The sand kept moving under his feet and he knew that it would be everywhere later.
Still, he couldn't afford to let his disdain of sand get in his way. The man has a mission to accomplish, a bunch of tiny rocks would not stop him. So, with the memories of his old home clouding his head, the two Jedi moved forward.

After the mission, Anakin sat in his bed. He tossed his shoes off of his feet and ignored the sand that fell onto his floor. The thoughts of his mother's death always made him angry and unpredictable. Obi-wan knew this. It felt like his last master had been watching him excessively. It wasn't like he couldn't control it, at least that's what he liked to think.
While the mission was a success, Anakin had no real sense of accomplishment. It was the same feeling he would get back in Tatooine. Laying down, the man tried not to think about it. No good would come from it. Hopefully he would get a break from the sand.

The phone rang, vibrating the table with it. “Unknown Caller”. Sam looked away from his laptop and picked up the phone without hesitation. Y/n watched from the seat across, taking slow sips of her morning drink of choice. “Hello?”
“...Sam?”
Upon hearing his brother’s voice, his shoulders hunched and his empty hand came up, an “are-you-shitting-me” type of attitude immediately replacing his calmed expression. “Dude! Where the hell have you been?” At Sam’s sudden change of tone, along with his question, Y/n widened her eyes and tilted her head, no longer half asleep.
“Uhhh I’m not really sure about that.”
“Well- where are you now?”
“Um, not really sure about that either.... I um... Oh!” Dean laughed on the other end, “I’m starvin’. How you feel about waffles?”
Sam’s face morphed with confusion, drawing Y/n’s interest even more. He muttered a bit, struggling to form a word before he picked one, “What?”
“Dumb question. Right. What psycho doesn’t love waffles? I mean they’re fluffy with little pockets full of syrup you just cover ‘em with whip cream, right? Anyway, meet me at Waldo’s, alright?”
Sam could barely think of something to say with the amount of time given to him. Dean hung up leaving Sam thinking 100 miles per second. Y/n made eye contact with her boyfriend’s brother, raising a brow as to ask for the story.
“Was that Dean?”
“Mhm.”
“Where was he?”
He shrugged. “Don’t know.”
“Did he not tell you?”
“No, actually, he doesn’t even know. He said to meet him at Waldo’s for waffles and then hung up.”
Y/n paused, scrunching her brows together in thought. Then she nodded with a shrug, “Sounds like Dean to me.”
Dean met Sam’s eyes as he walked into the building. “Hey...” he drawled. The first thing he did as the two sat down was sigh and tap his head, “You brought my girlfriend but did you bring any of the uh-” Sam took the bottle of pills out of his pocket and shook it, like an owner would a dog treat to their eager pup. “Yes!”
“Sounded like you could use it.”
“Oh man,” Dean whispered as he opened the bottle.
“Rough night?” Y/n’s eyes followed her boyfriend’s every movement. Dean after drinking, whether it be drunk or hungover, never ceased to entertain her. Dean shook his head.
“Rough morning.” He poured some into his hand, using his coffee to wash down the pills rather than water.
Sam watched with amusement as well, chuckling a little. “What happened? I mean, you just went out to get some food.”
Dean raised his free hand to emphasize his shrug as he set the mug down. “I dunno.”
“What does that mean?”
“I- I guess I blacked out... And judging from this hangover,” he nodded his head, “it was epic.”
Sam looked to Y/n for context, however, all he got was a raise of her shoulders. She hadn’t been with him last night, so there was no way she was involved with his drunken state.
“Well, we tried to call you-”
“Oh.” Dean held up his broken phone, making Sam sigh and Y/n look down in disappointment. “Not sure how that happened.”
“Great. Alright, well I’ll text mom and make sure she knows you’re going with me in case of emergency and Cas, in case he tracks down Kelly.”
Dean slowed his chewing down as his brows furrowed, tilting his head to meet Sam’s eyes. Sam raised his brows in response. “The- mother of Lucifer’s love child?”
“Right. Right. Yes, the, devil-baby-mama drama... Heh, say that five times fast. Devil-baby-mama drama.”
Once again, Sam sighed at his brother’s antics, though, Y/n couldn’t help but giggle a bit. He shoved his phone back into his pocket, “Alright, Dean, you know, uh, you’ve had a good run, but uh, maybe let’s pump the brakes a little bit. I mean you’re not twenty anymore...”
Dean froze, staring at his brother. Amusement was nowhere to be seen on his face, which was quite rare. “Okay, one, the Rat Pack partied till the day they died and b, I can still kick your ass.”
“Finish your waffles, tough guy. I’m sure you have some work to do.” Y/n snickered. “I’ve gotta go. I’ll catch up with you guys later. Call me if you need me, okay?” She raised her brows as she waited for Dean to nod, then pressed a kiss to his forehead and walked out the door, waving goodbye to the brothers.
“Hey... I came as soon as I could-” Y/n opened the door and stepped into the room, closing it behind her.
“Thank you- I-”
“My girlfriend? Really Sammy?”
He ignored his brother, whispering as quietly but frantically as he could.“Dean’s been acting weird.”
“Like Dean weird? Or...”
“No no, Dean has not been acting weird, Dean has been acting like Dean.” The man in question interjected, waving his finger around.
Sam spun back around to face Y/n, pointing to Dean. “Don’t listen to him.”
“Didn’t plan on it. ...Why is there a sticky note with the word lamp on the lamp?”
“Because Dean called it-”
“A lamp.”
“A light stick.” Sam glared at Dean.
Y/n covered her mouth, attempting to keep it contained, but to no avail; laughter poured from her lips uncontrollably. Dean seemed to find offence in it.
“Why the hell are you laughing?”
“I’m sorry bub, but... can you blame me? ‘Light stick’. Sounds like some holy shit if you ask me. Or maybe Starwars. Lightsaber?”
Sam squinted at her in confusion. He shook his head. “Not the point- listen, do you think we can do anything?”
“I’m not sure...”
“I’ll call someone, give me a minute.” Sam walked over to the other side of the room and began to pace.
The voice on the other end was inaudible to Dean and Y/n, but Sam filled in the most he could with his responses.
“Yeah, well, we need your help Rowena.”
“C’mon man, Rowena? I mean- tch- Hey!” Dean bent over into the mini-fridge, pulling out two little bottles of- “Tiny vodkas! Score!” He smiled and shook the bottles with a chuckle.
“This is serious. Look- I think Dean’s been hexed, okay? He- he’s been forgetting things... He’s not drunk!”
Dean held the empty ice-container in his arm, the lid in his other hand. “We need ice.”
Sam turned to Dean’s voice, then turned his head back around and shook his head, holding up a finger, an unspoken “one minute please”.
Y/n chortled as Dean continued to silently gesture with the lid to the container.
“What? ...I don’t know? Uh- And I’m not checking either! ....How do I break it? ...Got it.” Sam hung up, spinning back around to face the two, “Alright so- ...Dean?”
Y/n lifted her head from the lamp, her fingers toying with the sticky note. “Huh?”
“Where’d he go?”
“I- I don’t know...”
They looked toward the door, opened ajar just slightly, then back to each other. “Dean!?” Sam raced out the door.
Y/n looked back to the lamp and the yellow note between her fingers. She chuckled, remembering what Dean said. “Light stick.” More chuckles rang out before Sam’s voice brought her back to reality.
“Y/n! C’mon!”
“Right, sorry!” She raced out the door, following behind. “...Light-stick...Never calling another lamp a ‘lamp’ again.”

i agree abt the microexpressions thing! my own unpopular opinion is that i tend to kind of dismiss the more overtly bait-y scenes as Retroactive Destiel Evidence if they seem like. intentionally mean spirited. the example that comes to mind is the scene in my bloody valentine where cas appears too close to dean in the morgue and they’re like, staring at each other or w/e. to me it reads as way too intentionally “lmaooo gay! gay! wink wink!” to feel at all genuine, and if we’re taking stock of “evidence” it almost feels like the opposite (honestly, “profound bond” is the same for me — not all that compelling even though it is clear “evidence” on a surface level). i don’t think most people would agree, which is fair — but i do love to read contrarian destiel takes so thank u for that lol
I guess it also depends on what you’re trying to “do” with reading the show as the destiel show. like so much destiel meta is about compiling evidence of romantic subtext to legitimise the shipping lens people use to consume spn, which I fully understand given how hostile most of the cast/con staff is whenever you bring up gay people, as well as the broader fandom outside of the desticule. like there’s a defensive overreach that I think tends to happen where people are like “wait am I crazy and reading too much into this?” and then make like Destiel Proof Compilation posts as a bulwark against that. Which is fine! Totally fine. Not bashing that at all. But because it’s motivated by those things, some of the “evidence” people muster doesn’t feel that compelling, even when I’m inclined to agree with them in general. And some of the destiel “evidence” is so incidental (jacting micro-expressions) that it only feels like evidence if you obsessively rewatch the show and pick apart individual scenes and frames. There’s an exhaustive element to this style of analysis where accounting for every scrap of dean/cas screen time as top secret destiel evidence is the end goal, as opposed to sitting back, blurring your eyes, and looking for the outline of the thing instead (which I think is a much easier way of finding actual subtext).
But because destiel is like, canon(? still hesitate to call it canon but it IS textual post-15x18) now, I think there’s a bit more of a casual/fun “where’s waldo” style of show watching where people find a sweet deancas moment and inject romance into it, especially as a way of retroactively accounting for the confession. Which again, that’s fine, I endorse people having fun that way, I also have fun that way.
So like I think in general I agree with the Great Weight of the Evidence For Destiel even if I don’t agree with every item on that evidence list. Individual data points can be negotiated and debated, but taken together they’re far more persuasive.
And also, I must ask this again - why the fuck did dean make cas a mixtape.

Reviewing various Dresden Files ships
1. Harry Dresden/Johnny Marcone: despite hitting a lot of the right buttons (enemies to lovers, grudging respect/trust), it doesn't do anything for me. Marcone is a fan favorite but I mostly find him to be bland and Harry actively annoys me most of the time. I think I've also had the misfortune of primarily reading fics where Marcone is very possessive (a big turnoff for me) and not called out for it. 3/10 (fun concept but not much there)
2. Harry Dresden/Karrin Murphy: I like the concept but I'm not really attached to their relationship. I think it should be canon and endgame even if I'm neutral to it. 7/10
3. Harry Dresden/Thomas Raith: If I had read Grave Peril without knowing they were related I would have absolutely shipped them. Aside from that, I do like codependent siblings and I've read a few good fics where Thomas is attracted and feels guilty about it as well as a reflection of it being normalized in House Raith. 6/10
4. Molly Carpenter/Harry Dresden: that Harry, as an adult, knew Molly when she was a little girl and describes her in sexual terms every time she appears really squicks me out. That he becomes her teacher and has such a big influence on her makes it worse. Don't like it in canon and not fun in fic. 1/10 (Ok with Molly having a brief crush and the Winter Lady/Knight aspect could be fun but otherwise no)
5. Justine/Thomas Raith: There's a lot that I love about their relationship but other aspects make it uncomfortable. I like complicated relationships but I feel like canon/Harry overlooks the problems because True Love. Also don't like that Justine is now going through a dangerous pregnancy AND possessed by Nemesis. 9/10 (love it but with reservations)
6. Harry Dresden/Lara Raith: I think they have a fun dynamic but I don't think I want it to be canon because I can only imagine it with either a much darker Harry or ending very badly and I don't want Lara to die. 6/10 (fun but fic only)
7. Harry Dresden/Susan Rodriguez: Grave Peril was the first book in the series I read and it failed to convince me these two were in love. They cared about each other and there was attraction but it didn't feel like a genuine healthy relationship. I do call BS on Susan's death though and would have liked them to platonically raise Maggie together. 3/10
8. Waldo Butters/Harry Dresden: Eh, it's fine. No strong feelings either way. 5/10
9. Jared Kincaid/Karrin Murphy: If I didn't think Harry/Karrin was endgame and so strongly supported by canon, then this would be my choice for Murphy. They're cute together and Murphy deserves happiness. 8/10
10. Margaret LeFay/Lord Raith: my trash ship and what got me into writing this fandom. I'm kinda glad canon doesn't reveal much about what their relationship was like because I feel like I would prefer the version in my head (I could probably write a mini-essay on why Lord Raith being only a 2D evil villain lessens both their characters and relationship). I like the idea of them bringing out both the best and worst in each other so the ending feels both tragic and inevitable. 10/10 (awful but I love it)
