Introducing; Tristan Alter (Ascension 1)
Tumblr media
Art by @/RNBW_Red on Twitter
Usually I don’t do this. I commissioned all Ascensions of Tristan Alter and usually I would wait until they are all done to post him. But this is an exception. Tristan Alter is my Heart Project and is one of the most important things ever to me. So when I got the commission sheet for Ascension 1 back I wanted to show him as soon as possible. I am glad he exists and I want other people to know that he exists too!
Short Background Story: This Tristan Alter is a „What if his Life would be totally different?“ The whole Story is tied to my Mastersona who I ship with Tristan, so I leave this part out and only focus on the essence of the Alter Form! He is completely based on Gottfried von Straßburgs „Tristan“ so that’s my Love Letter to his Version of the Story and all Ascensions have References to it, like this one.
Tristan Alter takes the Path of „What if he didn’t get hurt during the Morolt Battle?“ and therefore he never had to travel to Ireland and never met Isolde, never drank a Love Potion. In fact, that he defeated Morolt without a major injury helped him gaining more respect and trust from Cornwalls People. And over the time he also got the „approval“ of King Markes Vasalls. Marke kept his promise to never marry so Tristan could get everything and yeah this is basically the deal; This Tristan is now the King of Cornwall who cares a lot about it’s citizens and would do everything to protect them!

His Class is Assassin. He doesn’t have a Main Weapon. The Weapon changes per Ascension. In this one it’s a Spine-Like Sword you can also use as metal whip. He made the Sword out of the poisoned blade he took from Morolt after the Battle. This Tristan is focused on killing the enemy, mostly fast but he doesn’t mind it taking longer.
The Boar Helmet is leaned on the fact that the Boar was not only Tristans Heraldic Animal but he also symbolised a Boar in Marjodos Dream + In the Celtic Myth of Drystan he was a Pigheard. He has more connections to pigs than one would think! So with that Helmet he takes pride in this fact and the Armor as a whole is to scare away his enemies.
As you see he also as a hidden and small crossbow on his Armor. And under the heavy and big Armor parts the deep black parts are scalemail!
His Armor is mainly based on Fantasy Armors and also draws ties to his Story (like my OC x Canon Story) why it looks like this since this comes also from the influence of w Demon God Pillar.
So that’s for this Post! Maybe it’s good to post it separately so I can post more insights into Tristan Alter! I am glad I can share him already with the World! I love him so much, he is one of my biggest Treasures! See you next time!

spicy book recs?
alright let's see
Sierra Simone writes theee best erotic romance, some of my faves include:
The New Camelot trilogy. Kinky King Arthur--very literally a modern King Arthur retelling in which King Arthur is [drumroll] Maxen Ashley "Ash" Colchester, president, erstwhile war hero, and absolute panty dropper, Lancelot his VP Embry Lance (never forget his middle name is Lance) Moore, my favorite romance character ever, and his first lady is Greer Galloway, the girl who heard a prophecy that was like "please don't kiss anyone" and went "okay I'll kiss everyone". MMF, kinky, angsty, dramatic.
Thornchapel. Quartet about six friends who accidentally awoke a gothic looming horror thing as kids and then continue to awake it as adults with kinky sex rituals. Kinda like The Secret History x Picnic at Hanging Rock x Brideshead Revisited with a dash of occult. Two core romances, one is MMF (childhood friends to enemies to lovers and the girl they both love) and one is FF. TW for incest(?). Very kinky, much group sex and sharing occurs.
Priest. One of her more.... approachable books, about a Catholic priest who falls for a woman who tells him all the shit she's done in confession. Also kinky.
Salt Kiss. Just out, a spinoff from New Camelot that retells Tristan and Isolde but with Tristan as a bodyguard and Mark as his boss who he falls in love with before he meets Isolde, who he promptly also falls in love with. Salt in the Wound is a novella that should be read first, ab out Mark and Isolde. Kinky, queer, intense.
Grace Callaway writes really fun historical romances that lean towards the more erotic. Usually, there's a girl who boldly ventures into danger, and a hero who's like "my god I find her brash impulsiveness compelling, I must eat her out and tell her she's bad".
I really love her Lady Charlotte's Society of Sirens series, which is like, Charlie's Angels but Victorian.
Olivia and the Masked Duke. Age gap D/s romance, bratty heroine paired with a hero who's like "I'm your dad's friend, I can't do this"... but she's obsessed after seeing him spank another woman, so she's pretty determined to make it happen.
Pippa and the Prince of Secrets. Childhood sweethearts reunite after her shitty husband dies. Hero is scarred and runs a band of child spies (I died). They're both really into exhibition and ye olde sex swing.
Fiona and the Enigmatic Earl. Feisty diamond of the season girl ends up in a marriage of convenience with a stern earl. Both of them are basically spies undercover, but neither of them knows lol. She's very bratty with him.
Glory and the Master of Shadows. Heroine gets mentored in badassery by the hero, who's desperately trying to resist her because he's Tainted and she's Fresh and Innocent. At one point he eats her out against the wall while her parents are sleeping with the door open down the hall.
You want a mafia romance? Try Mila Finelli. Her Kings of Italy series kicks off with Mafia Mistress & Mafia Darling, a duet about a girl who is kidnapped to marry this mafioso's son, but the dad like "nah, I want you, be my mistress". My favorite in the series is Mafia Madman, which is about a fucking lunatic blowing up a bar to kidnap the heroine for Revenge. He chains her to his bed and they have an enemies to lovers situation because she keeps telling him he ain't shit and he's like "sadly I am entranced by her". Mafia Target is an M/M assassin/target book, most excellent.
In terms of "contemporary sex club" books, I'd recommend The Salacious Players Club, which is about a group of friends who start a sex club (with two additional installments about the most noteworthy patrons of the club). Each book deals with a different kink--praise kink with an age gap, femdom, voyeurism, "we think I'm a cuck but actually me and my wife and my best friend are just mutually in love with each other", daddy kink, etc.
Joanna Shupe (who is also Mila Finelli) writes pretty hot historicals. I would recommend especially
My Dirty Duke. Victorian novella, age gap, heroine falls for her dad's best friend and he takes sexy old timey pics of her.
Sold to the Duke. Heroine enters an auction for her virginity to save her sister from destitution, gets bought by her dead brother's best friend who's like "I'm not going to take what I bought" and she's like "oh yes you are dude.
Her Uptown Girls trilogy is about three sisters who bop around Gilded Age NYC, getting into trouble with 1) dad's lawyer 2) casino owner attempting to ruin dad because revenge 3) powerful gangster. Very hot and very fun.
Fifth Avenue Rebels is my favorite series by her. It starts off with a house party in Newport and then continues into all the drama after. Recommending reading in order, they're all good, and they lead up to one of my favorites, The Duke Gets Even, about the uptight duke and wild child heiress who've been circling each other for the previous books. Very hot, and they both enjoy rough sex.
S.M. LaViolette (who is Minerva Spencer) writes hot historicals. I just finished her Seducers trilogy, which follows three sex workers/former sex workers from the same brothel as they meet people and fall in love with much drama and high stakes. Hot and romantic as fuck. TW: all of the books feature trauma in the past, but little to none is on the page
Paranormals? Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark, which is full of vampires, werewolves, witches, and everything else falling in love and having lots of sex across the world. Long running and pretty violent, so check your TWs, especially for the older ones.
Passion by Lisa Valdez is a really wild erotic historical romance with a hero and heroine who start fucking as soon as they meet in the first chapter. Behind a screen the first go. She has a magic vagina that his massive cock can fit into as a miracle basically.
I mean... if you're willing to go, uh, bold as fuck, Tiffany Reisz's Original Sinners is very erotic. Everyone is polyamorous, everyone is bi, it kicks off with a British editor visiting a novelist to work with her, and oops, she's a dominatrix. The central three characters are that dominatrix, Nora, her long time on again/off again lover/dom Soren, who is...a Catholic priest with a sadism fetish... and Kingsley, who owns this kink club Soren and Nora are respectively the #1 and #2 top dogs at. There is a LOT of sadomasochism in this series, a lot of kinky shit, a lot of angst, dubcon and noncon. There's also... some shit I don't think would be written today, like a good amount of underage sex, severely morally questionable relationships, and I don't loooove some of the dynamics written (Kingsley and his long-term partner Juliette make me question much). The writing is beautiful, the characters and dynamics are fascinating, but it's definitely something you should dig into before reading.
But I can't lie, Nora, Soren, and Kingsley have a spellbinding dynamic. It's fucked, but it compels me so. I will add, there were 8 original books (not standalones) and then she revived the series years later. Stop at the first 8 (and their assorted companion novellas and short stories).

yesterday, I was writing bios for my OCs, and I needed to find a middle name for an oc. I happened to find the name Isolde on a baby name website, and apparently it’s the name of a character from a Wagner opera. I decided it sounded great for my character, tho I know nothing about the Isolde character from opera lol X)
so Isolde from Tristan und Isolde is basically this Irish princess whose fiancé got murdered by this guy named Tristan. Tristan ends up escorting her on a boat trip from Ireland to Cornwall so she can marry Tristan’s uncle, King Marke.
Isolde is Not Having It With Any Of This so she tells her maid Brangäne to make a poison for herself and Tristan but Brangäne swaps in a love potion so they drink and BAM! instantly in love.
obviously, given that Isolde is getting married to his uncle, a lot of problems ensue, Tristan is mortally wounded and ends up dying after the longest death scene in the history of opera, and then Isolde transcends everything, sings the iconic “Liebestod” (go look it up, it’s FAB), and then herself dies THE END!

Lord Marke intends to unite the kingdoms of England into one, to establish a stronger bond of protection against Ireland. He has a natural ability to bring men together in a common goal, and mobilize them behind either himself or Tristan, in how he approaches them for support. He…

So this is like my first extended post I’ve written for anything WKM related, but I’m going to try and give a hand at it.
This entire AU is inspired by @territorial-utopia’s art and my love for Tristan & Isolde, Arthurian Legends, and Game of Thrones.
Imagine:
- William, Celine, and Damien all grew up together and were friends since a very young age. It was even thought with how close William and Celine were that they would eventually marry.
- But their village is raided, William is taken, and the two childhood sweethearts never see each other again.
- William is brought to be the squire/whipping boy for a lord’s son, Asshole!Mark.
- William and Asshole!Mark learn and train together with the former becoming the new lord’s most trusted knight.
- In an effort to support his friend’s claim to the throne, William manages to defeat Asshole!Mark’s rival in battle, but is poisoned in the process, and believed to be dead.
- Meanwhile, Celine, now a healer who dabbles in magic, is shocked when she stumbles across a wounded William and decides to shelter him, hiding him from her family (who were against and defeated by Asshole!Mark).
- The two spend long days together and eventually fall in love again. Celine helps William leave their old village and return to Asshole!Mark, but cannot leave with him when he asks.
- William returns to newly crowned Asshole!Mark and learns of a tournament at his former home for the hand of any of the defeated lords’ daughters.
- He agrees to participate, but declines the marriage offer as he is in love with another. Thus William goes to to win a wife for his friend, thus ensuring an allegiance between the king and the girl’s family and lands.
- When he wins the tournament, William is heartbroken that the woman who is chosen to be the king’s wife is Celine.
- But he must accept it since the marriage will end "a hundred years of bloodshed."
- Once married, Celine is treated more as a pretty bauble on her husband’s arm. Feeling locked up in a gilded cage.
- She still has her brother Damien for company, but he’s mostly away attending business for her husband.
- And though Celine tries to make the marriage work for her family’s sake, her heart still belongs to William.
- William is torn between his loyalty to the kingdom and his love for Celine.
- But they both eventually give in and renew their love, beginning an affair.
The Colonel loved his queen... and thousands died for it.
And... that’s all I got, but all I can say is that it doesn’t end for anyone.

Viego soulmate au oneshot? thank you :)
Hi anon! I'll be making this soulmate AU the “what is drawn on your arm shows up on your soulmate” trope since it's become a bit of a running series on this blog lmao
Viego x Reader Soulmate AU
Warning: Mentions of blood
He had finally done it. The Black Mist was now more than just a distant legend of the Shadow Isles, it was a nearby terror that had conquered half of Bilgewater. In the dead of night, where Mist and shadows couldn't be distinguished, Viego advanced onward, increasing his domain. The unfortunate live bodies that he came across, he would do the same thing. His blade pressed to their throat, the simple question of “Where is Isolde?” would determine their fate.
Another unsatisfactory answer, another body slain. Viego let out a growl of frustration. Why can't he ever find the answers he was looking for? In his anguish, he had even carved the question into his arm, desperate for some answer from the spirit realm that had forsaken him. But his arm didn't bleed, only emanating more Black Mist from the wound.
Even in his living years, thousands of years ago, there were whispers of him having a “soulmate”. One where what he wrote on his arm would appear on his true lovers' and vice versa, however he never met them. All mages and oracles pitied him just like the rest of his subjects, claiming his soulmate had died or simply didn't exist. The spirit realm had abandoned him and his yearning for companionship, until he managed to find a decent replacement. But for years, even the replacement has abandoned him. The spirits tried to doom him to an eternity of loneliness, but he will not accept this fate.
Wandering through the Mist, his next unknowing victim couldn't hear as he stalked up to you from behind. A sadistic smirk started to creep up onto his face. You were already whimpering, distracted, hunched over as you looked down at yourself. Viego couldn't tell what distracted you so but he couldn't care less.
Ambushing you from behind, blade up against your neck, his cheek against your (H/C) locks as he whispered in your ear.
“Where is Isolde?”
He felt your figure tremble under his hold. Your panic as you didn't understand what was going on, but you managed to angle your head back, just enough to take a look at his face and for him to look at yours. He froze. There was something about your (E/C) orbs that captivated him so. They shone with a special light. Despite looking absolutely terrified there was a quiet resilience in the small furrowing of your eyebrows. So earnest, so genuine. And then he looked down at your arm.
Your arm had the very words he asked embedded in your skin, bleeding. His heart raced. He had found you, the one who they said would never come for him.
“I... I'll help you look for her.”
He instinctively smiled. All his past victims had pathetically said they didn't know, or dared lied to try and stay alive. But only you had offered your services. He wouldn't expect anything less from his soulmate.
“There'll be no need for that.”
Viego drew back his blade, letting it dissipate in the Black Mist. He turned you around, his hands on your shoulders, letting you have sight of his forearm.  He saw your eyes widen at the identical markings on his arm. His heart ached at the red that covered your arm, the guilt tearing at his chest. Oh, what a terrible mistake, he's made! Not only has he been looking for the wrong one all these years, but has harmed the very one he was meant to protect. He couldn't imagine how frightened you must've been, to have random words etched into your skin with a hidden blade as you went through life. His hands lightly wrapped around your forearm, he channelled the Black Mist to concentrate around it. The Mist thickened until it was opaque, you'd no longer have to see those ugly markings, and hopefully the Mist felt cool and relieved some of the pain.
“It’s been too long, my love...” he pulled you towards him, his arms wrapping around your body. You seemed to understand the importance of the marks on your arm, how you two were tied. “You must be confused, I will explain it all in due time.”
He let the Black Mist thicken around you, making sure no one saw you, keeping you safe. A smile was plastered on his face. He was no longer alone.

hello hello may i present: the lais of marie de france
to establish-- a lai (or "lay") is a type of narrative poem, varying in lengths but usually fairly short and told in octosyllabic verse; this collection consists of twelve, which are as follows (oh also these are in the order of the 13th C. manuscript Harley 978 (digitised here, via the british library) ! )
*this is focused on english translations tbf but i've also come across other languages so i've marked them all as they are, i.e EN - english; FR - french, etc ... also in advance i apologise for the mess of this all hsnjsj
the following lais can all (or mostly) be found in :
French Mediaeval Romances From the Lays of Marie de France, 1911, translated by Eugene Mason / (via gutenberg.org) [EN]
(most are in) The Lais of Marie de France: A Verse Translation, 1991-96, by Judy Shoaf / (via College of Liberal Arts and Sciences) [EN]
The Lays of Marie de France, 2013, translated by David R. Slavitt / (via Athabasca University Press) [EN]
Les Lais de Marie de France, 1983, publiés par Jean Rychner / (pdf available here) [FR]

but i'll also add any additional links to the specific lais where possible! now with all that out of the way:
I. Guigemar - follows the knight Guigemar who is uninterested by love, until cursed by a magical deer who says he must find love if he wants to be healed.. goes on a journey to find a woman, and he does! only she's married to an abusive lord :( (original french + modern french version via madame ritchie)
II. Equitan - a king has an affair with his seneschal's wife and together they plan to kill the seneschal but things don't exactly go to plan,,,,, (spoiler alert - they die)
III. Le Fresne ('The Ash Tree') - a mother gives away her one of her twin girls (because it was believed that the mother must have slept with two men to have two children), she grows up in an abbey and is named le fresne for the ash tree she was found under . she begins a romance with a lord but he is encouraged to marry the noblewoman la codre..... a wedding is planned, brooches are placed, things happen, and it turns out le fresne and la codre are the twins! (this one's my personal fav<3)
IV. Bisclavret ('The Werewolf') - iconic for being the one with the werewolf, this one follows the knight bisclavret and his wife, disgusted with the fact her husband turns into a werewolf, who plots to keep him stuck in his wolf form
V. Lanval - an equally iconic one! about the lonesome lanval who one day comes across a beautiful fairy lady; he returns to court alone and guinevere questions why he has no mistresses and accuses him of being gay . he gets put on trial and at the last minute, the fairy lady returns to save him *~✩ (a reading of it is available here! from medievalists.net, found by the lovely @to-many-towered-camelot) (one The Lais of Marie de France, 1978, translated by Robert W Hanning and Joan Ferrante is available from OLLI GMU) (a prose version from mythologyteacher.com) (and another from The Lais of Marie de France, 1986, translated by glyn s. burgess and keith busby, from CSUB) [<<< all EN]
VI. Les Deux Amants ('The Two Lovers') - a girl's father will not permit any to marry his daughter unless they can carry her up a mountain . the boy the girl is smitten with vows to do so and together they plan to use a strength potion..... he manages to reach the top but promptly dies, with his lover following suit (le lai des deux-amants, 1907, commentaire et adaptation de a.-l durdan via bibnum) [FR]
VII. Yonec - a wife is locked in a tower by a husband but receives visits from a knight with the ability to transform into a hawk . he is killed in a trap left by the husband but not before assuring his lover that they will have a child and that child, yonec, will grow up to kill his step-father
VIII. Laüstic - a tale of a loveless marriage, an affair, and a nightingale
IX. Milun - a famed jouster must give up his child, but decades on that child grows into a talented knight who beats his own father at jousting and they reconcile
X. Chaitivel ('The Unhappy One') - a beautiful woman maintains several suitors because she loves the attention, but her suitors decide to battle it out and all but one die, leaving her in great grief and guilt
XI. Chevrefoil ('The Honeysuckle') - a section from the tristan & isolde legend ✧ (a song performance can be found on youtube!) [FR]
XII. Eliduc - the story of a married knight who is banished and falls in love with a new woman (there's more to it but i'm tired sorry)
anyways, fortunately, her lais are quite well-known so if you would like a cheat sheet, we have: good ol' gradesaver, wikipedia, arcgis, and others so take a little look on the internet or elsewhere , hummmmmmmmmmm yeah enjoy :')

Nightingale’s Song - 11
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bucky x Anna (OC)
Warnings: not really
A/N: OMG. A Chapter. OMG.
***
Anna leaned against the wall with her arms crossed over her chest just watching the others in the room. Stark was apparently on a call with the director of SHIELD trying to get them more information about the Siberian base. She could tell them where it was located but not how to get in or anything of the sort. Stark was hoping for some satellite imagery of the area.
Her gaze fell on the new arrivals huddled in the corner with Steve. When Tony said they needed reinforcements she hadn’t anticipated him calling on actual gods. Okay, so they weren’t really gods, but she’d always been slightly fascinated by Norse mythology. When the brothers were being discussed at Hydra, she’d always assumed Loki and Thor were code names. Her eyes shifted to the woman with them, Loki’s wife Isolde. Their secret weapon. Or so Steve had said though he didn’t explain further.
She straightened as Tony hurried into the room. “JARVIS, pull it up please.”
Everyone moved over to the table as images appeared in the room around them. This was so cool. Steve motioned to the seat next to him and she slid into it, reaching over to grab his hand. She found herself needing to touch him when he was near. Too many years spent apart with nothing but Hydra’s attentions.
Tony somehow moved the images around with nothing other than his hands until he found the one he wanted. He motioned and the image grew larger. “Okay. Thanks to Anna here we know the exact location of the base. After some prodding, Fury gave me access to satellite scans of the area. Nothing popped out at me until this.”
“What is that?” Clint asked.
“It looks like a bunker entrance,” Steve answered as he squeezed Anna’s hand.
“Easy to overlook unless you know it’s there,” Tony agrees with a nod. He shifted his attention to Anna. “What do you know?”
She shook her head once and took a breath. “There are things I know and there are things that I can guess with some degree of accuracy. Unfortunately, it’s not a lot.”
“Anything is better than nothing,” Stark said.
“Bucky is Hydra’s version of Steve, but he’s a weapon. Nothing more. They use him then they freeze him. When they have another task, they wake him. I can’t tell you what his current status is though it wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve thawed him to deal with you lot. You were really starting to get under their skin. If he’s awake there will be fewer soldiers at the facilities. They’ve been stretched kind of thin lately. Also your fault.”
“Nice to know we’re actually having an impact. I was starting to wonder,” Natasha said. The others made noises of agreement.
“He lost his left arm. Whether it happened in the fall or after, I’m not sure. They’ve replaced it with metal. Works just like the real thing only better. I’d avoid getting grabbed by that one if you can. The twins aren’t used much in the field yet. They volunteered for the experiments after their mother was killed in a terrorist attack. They’ll probably release them once we breach the facility. If you encounter the girl, remember everything you see should be called into question. She can manipulate thoughts, memories. Like I said, the soldiers are terrified of her.”
“What do you mean when we breach the facility?” Tony asked. “You aren’t doing anything. We appreciate the information but you’re a nurse.”
Steve sat up and Anna squeezed his hand to stave off his argument. She’d anticipated this.
“I’m the only that’s ever been able to override Bucky’s programming.”
“That may be true. Answer’s still no. We’re already going in mostly blind. The last thing we need is another liability.”
The corner of Anna’s mouth curled in a smile. “After seventy years with Hydra, what makes you think I’ll be a liability?”
Steve tugged on her hand and she glanced over to see him studying her with worried eyes. She shrugged. It didn’t matter. Not really. All that mattered was getting Bucky back.
“She saved my life,” Clint said.
Anna looked over and smiled in thanks. He nodded once in acknowledgment.
Tony sighed, catching her attention. “Fine. The assassins test you. You pass, you can come. Fair?”
“Fair,” she agreed quickly. “You also need to equip non-lethal ordinances that will work on someone with Steve’s metabolism. Bucky and the male twin will both need them. The female should respond to standard tranquilizers.”
“Banner?” Steve asked.
“I’ve got a formula on file. It shouldn’t take me long to mix up.”
“I’ll help,” Tony said. “Assassins, Anna. We’ll head out when everyone’s ready.”
***
Anna trailed behind the Bartons and Natasha as they headed to the training floor. Steve followed along as well. Tony had started to protest but one look from the super soldier shut him up. Both of you were reluctant to separate. The fact you were about to be tested by three assassins probably didn’t help that feeling. He’d always been protective of her anyway.
They stepped into a large room and Anna glanced around. The facilities were top-notch. Not that she’d expected anything less from Stark. “Where do you want to start?” she asked once she finished taking everything in.
The three exchanged a glance and Natasha gestured to the equipment. “Why don’t you give us a demonstration?”
Anna’s lips twitched and she took a stroll around the room as she planned exactly what to show them. There was only so much she could show them using equipment. Finally, she walked over to the climbing rope and tugged on it a couple of times. Someone sighed behind her and she took that as her cue to get started. She made it to the top of the rope in under a minute.
“Christ.” That was the male Barton. The sentiment was echoed by his wife when Anna pulled herself onto the rafters and ran along them with no hesitation. And when she launched herself from them to land at their feet, Steve wasn’t the only one to yell.
There was a moment’s stillness as Anna straightened then Natasha launched into an attack. Anna blocked or dodged every punch and every kick. Picking up on a soft sound behind her, she stepped to the side only for Raven to land where Anna had been standing a moment before. Once it became two against one, more blows found their mark, but Anna remained on her feet much to the aggravation of the women in front of her.
Another whisper of sound had Anna spinning to snatch a practice arrow from the air. Taking advantage of her distraction one of the others brought their heel down on the extended arm. The snap of breaking bone echoed through the room.
Anna flinched but that was the only outward sign of the pain that suddenly flared through her.
“Holy shit. I’m so sorry,” Raven Barton gasped. “Are you alright?” She reached out a hand but didn’t touch in case the assistance would be unwelcome.
Anna smiled. “It’s fine.”
“That is not fine, Anna. Far from it.” Steve scowled at everyone as he stepped forward and lightly supported Anna’s bruised and swollen arm.
“Excuse me a moment,” she said and turned to the others. “Natasha could you do me a favor?”
She arched a brow. “Maybe.” She took a step forward.
“Hold my wrist. Tightly please.”
The assassin frowned but did as Anna asked. Once she was certain Natasha had a firm grip, Anna yanked the arm backward and the bones ground against each other as they slid back into place.
“Agh!” Clint yelled at the sound. “Don’t do that.”
Anna chuckled as she gave Natasha a nod. “Thanks.”
“Sure,” the red-head replied sounding more than a bit concerned.
Anna closed her eyes and breathed as she concentrated on the injury. A moment later the only thing that remained of the injury was a dull ache that would leave soon enough. She stretched and moved the arm around, testing it out. “There. All fixed.”
“Didn’t that hurt at all?” Steve asked.
“Hurt like a bitch.” At his concerned expression, she continued. “You can learn to ignore a lot if you have to, Cap. Trust me.”

Tristan & Juquia - Their Flowers and their Meaning (in their relationship)
Tristan and Juquias Flowers are pretty basic with Tristan having the red Rose and Juquia the Daisy. But besides that it fits for both of them, not only in meaning but appearance, I also think the way how humble and „basic“ it is, it reflect their relationship very well.
Tumblr media
Tristans Flower - A Red Rose, who is more dark and has slight dark tips
Tristan, a man marked by passion and love from his past, is actually someone so beautiful you don’t want to just approach him. You maybe even simply can’t. The thorns symbolise his own isolation on that as well. He is a dark red rose as he is not only known for love and passion, but the dark red rose stands for itself for Loyalty and eternal Beauty. While Fate goes more with the depiction that Tristan betrayed one Isolde, I think it signalised more that he was loyal in another way - Thought the Tristan of my Story is more Gottfried von Straßburg based which works more with the theme of Loyalty, especially for Tristan. The black tips here stand rather for Tristans condition being trapped in insecurities, anxiety and depression. Something that might make his beauty faint a bit.
This paired with the fact roses start blooming in Mai, a reference to the Maifest where his parents met each other and fell in love, the start of their romance and the very core beginning of Tristans existence with them making love later which leads to pregnancy with roses also having their main blooming time during June and July, with June being also the release month of the Tristan and Isolde Opera. Also Juquia has her Birthday in July, once could say he blooms the strongest for her.
Also a fun fact, in my language I often say „Tristannuss“ meaning „Tristan-Nut“ coming from Drystanus/Drustanus - Funnily the Rose fruits, the Hagebutte, belong to the family of nuts haha.
Tumblr media
Juquias Flower - The Daisy, one with pink/bright red tips
Juquia is the Daisy. Nothing special. At least at first. Daisies are one of the most seen flowers, people often call it „the Persistent/the Persevering“ with Juquia being always there, even with the curse, no especially because of the curse that won’t let her just die. She stays alive for as long as possible. Juquia is someone who gained a strong healing power, funnily the Daisies are also said to be having strong regeneration powers and being used for healing.
While Daisies also can stand for innocence and being pure, which would fit to Juquias core, it also can stand for being humble and trust. Coming to Juquias Wish of just having one person on her life she can trust and who likes her for who she is and who can stay at her side, plus the trust she did put in the world especially the clock tower it makes sense, even if she seems pessimistic at core. In some terms the Daisy can also stand for beauty. A persistent beauty. This is something rather how Tristan is perceiving her. Juquia sees herself rather as small, not special and not noticeable and easily replaceable. When a daisy is used as Fortune Teller, for the petal Game, Juquia sees herself as always the bad outcome with her curse bringing bad luck to the people around her. But it also contains her inner fear of in the end being just used, when bringing good fortune, being robbed of everything that makes her whole to be thrown away afterwards. So she is alright with not being noticeable.
The pink tips stand for Juquia still being a romantic person who yearns for companionship, who daydreams about happiness and love in its purest form. And especially with Tristan she let this love in her life.
✩。:*•.───── ❁ ❁ ─────.•*:。✩
In the core, both are more seen as basic flower. Nothing special. And probably that is what TrisQuia is. Nothing special at core but them embracing this normality makes it beautiful, like the flowers they represent. Tristan and Juquia are both tied together trough a very humble wish - to find someone who found completely understand them. They didn’t even wished for a Lover, but for someone to trust. For someone where they can be themselves without worrying to lose this happiness in an instant.
And while both flowers represent their „ugly“ parts it also shows their simple beauty. Especially for each other.

hnoc's crimes, a non-comprehensive list:
- not enough palomydes (i like him, he's very polite and i think he should get to hold hands with tristan and isolde (the irish one), he wasn't mentioned once)
- killing off both tristan and bedivere in one sentence (the two original variants of tristan's death were sooo sexy. and this? this wasn't. also bedevere usually lives and there's a narrative significance to bedevere being the last survivor of camelot. plus the like,,, one story i know of where he does die, there's a patroclus parallel there, they could have at least given me that)
- the two isoldes aren't even mentioned (they hate to see girlbosses winning)
- spelled ywain "uwain", kei "kay", and gawaine "gawain" (self explanatory)
- only had one ywain (there are over ten)
- old galahad (he's supposed to be a 15 year old who thinks he's better than everyone morally and kins jesus christ and has an eyestrain carrd filled with religious imagery and may or may not bite people)
- lancelot x arthur bad (alright this is a more serious one but lancelot couldn't be paid to care about arthur, like at all, his feelings range from disinterest to dislike, but more importantly arthur was like,,, 30,,, when lancelot was born and it was even said in the vulgate that arthur viewed him as a son)
- lancelot x guinnevere bad (alright this is bc medieval authors hated women and shouldn't be carried over to modern works but she was SO bad to him)
- arthur x guinnevere bad (HE TRIED TO KILL HER!!! REPEATEDLY!!!)
- the mechs don't know what a broadside ballad is (pellinore and the beast is described as one. it isn't)
- gawain (self explanatory)
- how DARE you separate mordred's betrayal from the deaths of his brothers, how DARE you make him betray anyone before gawain dies, how dare you make him oppose gawain, how DARE you portray mordred as the sympathetic and rational brother (demonstrates clear misunderstanding of mordred's character)
- where the fuck are the other orkneys, you don't understand gawaine or mordred's motivations, fuck you (namedropping gaheriet doesn't count, he's two separate characters by the end of the tradition)
- no galehaut (the most canon queer character in the tradition who?)
- story beats Bad (the grail quest had nothing to do with the fall of camelot it was elayne of astolat's death that caused it!!!! this is elayne of astolat erasure!!!)
- clearly based on pop culture a.rthuriana (pop culture a.rthuriana sucks)
- has clear th wh*te influence (seen in the existence of pendragon polycule and use of the phrase "once and future king", th wh*te was,,, very shitty to put it mildly and i don't want to trigger tag this post)
- has clear m*deline z*mmer br*dley influence (morgan as mordred's mother, once again i don't want to trigger tag this post but she's genuinely a monster and i hope she's rotting in hell)
- fridged morgan (what the fuck dude, she doesn't even die in ANY of the original texts)
- morgan as mordred's mother (i'm pretty sure they only speak to each other in like,,, one text, and even then they're part of a bigger group)
- ygraine as mordred's mother/arthur's lover (what the fuck dude THAT'S ARTHUR'S MOM)
- i hate pellinore's ass don't give him his own song (i don't want to trigger tag this, you could've given the song to palomydes and it'd have the same effect AND make the slightest bit more sense)
- guinnevere doesn't even vaguely resemble medieval guinnevere (she's a political genius ready to step in as regent at a moment's notice!! her role is strategist not gunslinger and she dhouldn't have to be able to fight to be seen as strong!! if you wanted a woman strong in the fighting sense there was morgan!! or sebile!! or even lynnette!!)
- arthur was a dick in the original (arthur was a dick in the original)
- villainized ladies of the lake (nimue/ninniane's only crime was what? sealing away merlin when he tried to [redacted bc i don't want to trigger tag this], she was obviously in the right!! vivviane/ninniane's only crime was kidnapping baby lancelot but she didn't know any better and he was fine with it!! (ninniane was proto-vivviane/nimue from the vulgate))
- merlin was a [redacted bc trigger tagging] in the original (you didn't have to have brian be him... you could have had brian be nimue and it still would've worked...)
- i've said it before and i'll say it again, if you wanted love-triangle-turned-polyamory, tristan, isolde and palomydes were right there!!! (this is pop culture arthuriana though so i'm willing to bet money the mechs saw that isolde was married to tristan's uncle and that was it when mark didn't even like her and he married her to piss of tristan and it was palomydes who was in love with her the whole time and i'm cutting myself off here bc i was writing this whole thing about why i thought tristan, palomydes and isolde were definitely in love and it was getting long)
- the conspicuous lack of palomydes, old galahad, and the whole perceval getting mentioned once thing means we don't get to think about palomydes having to babysit catholic children in the woods while they bully him into taking them with him to hunt the fucked up giraffe he's dedicated years of his life to (i like that scene)
.
alright this is all i can think of off the top of my head but like. yeah. i'm definitely going to rb this.
no this isn't in the place of that hnoc Bad essay i was writing. no i didn't forget about it for a month, what makes you think that? i'll post it Eventually. until then, follow my sideblog where i post about actually good a.rthuriana and also gothic lit, shakespeare, and classics sometimes (but mostly a.rthuriana), @acegalahads,
also if you want a) further explanation for any of these, b) to know what i refused to type, c) actually good arthurian recs, d) an explanation why i think palomydes, isolde and tristan are in love, or e) just know about anything arthurian, feels free to ask me, this may become not just a hyperfixation but a special interest and i love infodumping

WIP Wednesday
I was tagged by the lovely @tessa1972 so here's a little snip of a fic and art I'm working on. This is definitely first draft.
Dragon Age Origins Setting
Pairing: Bann Teagan x Female Surana
Upon clearing the Circle Tower of demons, abominations and blood mages, Ysmeria returned to Redcliffe with First Enchanter Irving and the other mages in tow. When they arrived at the castle, they immediately began discussing the situation with Isolde. Teagan hung back by the fireplace, waiting for their decision and direction, but he couldn't help admiring the warden.
She truly was stunning. She was not so very tall and was lean as he'd come to expect of elven women, but the cut and style of her robes accentuated her petite form. Her lovely face was framed by shockingly red curls that cascaded down over her Tevinter styled robes, in stark contrast to her shining, white bangs. Her skin was like porcelain marked with dark, gracefully curling makeup, or were they tattoos? He hadn't had the opportunity to see them closely enough to tell.
Watching her now took him back to their initial encounter inside the Redcliffe chantry, recalling her determination to help and their playful flirtation. Was it possible they could have more? The way she'd shown interest in him, asked about his family and seemed to fret about his safety when he agreed to return to the castle with Isolde, told him she might share his rapidly developing feelings. He wasn't exactly subtle when he expressed his own interest in her, netting him some... interesting looks from Alistair. But now might not be the best time for all this as he had much work to do with Eamon incapacitated and clearly she did as well....
Tumblr media
Adding my test render of Ysmeria as well. Looking for some input on whether you guys like her as she is or if you think I should change her skin tone to match the Dragon Age setting (she is half high elf/half dark elf in her original setting).

Borgia for the ask meme please ♥️
- My all-time ultimate fave character: Cesare. Is no one even surprised?
- A character I didn't use to like but now do: Maybe Rodrigo and Alessandro???
- A character I used to like but now don't: Don't have one
- A character I'm indifferent about: I think Giulia
- A character who deserved better: I find it weird but the first answer that comes to mind, are Lucrezia's children for some reason
- A ship I've never been able to get into: I kind of want to say Cesare x Lucrezia because of the incest, but Mark and Isolde have great chemistry
- A ship I've never been able to get over: Don't really have one
- A cute, low-key ship: Leonardo x Cesare
- An unpopular ship buy I still enjoyed it: I guess Leonardo x Cesare also applies to this
- A ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: All the incest ones
- My favourite storyline/moment: Can't think of one right now
- A storyline that never should have been written: Can't think of one right now as well
- My first thoughts on the show: "Wow, this looks so trashy. I'm just gonna watch it so I can compare it to The Borgias and be bitter that the latter was cancelled"
- My thoughts now: "I love it so much, I have to make everyone I know watch it!"
Thank you so much for asking @madonna-la-cardinalessa 💙💙

hello ! shay here and this is my original vamp dru. she has the start of a pinterest board here (x) and has a page for her overall stats here (x). i am still working on a connections page for her and am wide open for any plotting suggestions. i’m so excited to bring her here and write with you all !!!
Tumblr media
EMILIA CLARKE, CISFEMALE, SHE/HER, ORIGINAL VAMPIRE  /   deep in the pacific northwest lives DRUSCILLA ‘DRU’ FIDELE AGOSTI. i heard they’ve been living there for nineteen years and last saw them hanging around sacred heart cathedral, i think they might’ve been reminiscing on a family long buried. at two thousand one hundred and eighty one years old, druscilla doesn’t look a day over thirty. everyone around here always associates them with the dry rasp of bat wings on stone, red lips in a darkly lit room, and the drape of brown curls over brass bed posts. hope they enjoy their stay !
(TW: MURDER,  RAPE, PROBABLE HISTORICAL INACCURACY)
Born in 181 BC, Druscilla Fidele Agosti was the oldest of four children born to Alaric and Isolde Agosti. Residing in Romania during the time of the Odyrisian Empire, stability was an unknown to their family. The Odyrisian Empire consisted of twenty-two kingdoms and over forty Thracian tribes and power was constantly shifting between various leaders and tribal elites. Power was fluid, easily won and lost as her father was to find out in 167 BC. He rose in ranks and became the royal adviser to Cotys IV. The king tried fervently to unite the now independent Canite and Oddrisae kingdoms in an attempt to bolster their borders against the growing power of Macedonia. The Macedonians, catching wind of this plot, sent out assassins to take out Alaric and Cotys IV. While Cotys IV and his family survived this attempt, Alaric Agosti and his family were not so fortunate. Druscilla awoke to find her family brutally murdered around her, her own body battered and torn by the assassin's knife. She survived, a fact she would credit to the power of pure spite.
The prospects for an orphaned girl at fourteen in Ancient Romania were dismal, to say the least. It was to her great fortune that Cotys IV felt indebted to her late father and pulled the young girl into his own family. Rank and power she would not inherit, but the privilege and opportunities allotted to her within his walls more than made up for that.  Druscilla was married at the age of sixteen to Zayraxes of Gacian in 165 BC. Their union was brief, Zayraxes was killed in combat with the Roman Empire in 155 BC. During that invasion Druscilla was brutally raped by Roman soldiers.
Widowed, childless, and sullied by rape, the rage that had been building in her veins since the death of her family boiled over. Over the course of the next four years Drusciilla made her way west towards the Great Roman Empire. It was there, penniless , sick and thirsty for blood, in 151 BC, that Drusiclla met the witch who would alter the course of her life forever. Sensing the fury within the girl's tiny frame, the witch offered her a deal. Kill a mark for her and Druscilla would live to watch the Empire who wronged her crumble. She was quick to accept the deal, sneaking into the Roman general's home in the dead of night. Her hunger to avenge her family made for a swift and brutal death for the general, committing a murder not unlike the one that originally set her on this path.
Over the following days Druscilla laid in agony as the blood thirst took hold and her skin burned and withered under the light of day. Her eyes, once green, went black with hunger. Within the first couple of months of her transition Druscilla killed tens of men in her attempts to satiate the need for blood. This number would only grow higher as the witch's promise came true and she slowly watched as the Roman Empire fell around her.
With her newfound immortality came a freedom the likes of which she had never experienced. Druscilla wandered the growing European world over the next couple of centuries taking lovers of all genders who aged in the blink of an eye and slowly becoming a learned woman in the secrecy of the night. She avoided staying in any place long enough for the citizens to catch on to the fact that she never aged and was careful not to accumulate too much rank in society. Some highlights of these years include disguising herself as a doctor during the Black Plague of England (those bird masks proved useful for something), meeting William Shakespeare in 1586, cloth-making during the years of Reformation, coming to America with the Puritans in 1648, preying on Confederate soldiers during the Civil War and marching for the right to vote in 1913.
After taking some time to cool off from way too much fun during the Summer of Love in Haight-Ashbury, Drusiclla moved to Arcane Falls in 1980. The run down town held no interest to her until she began hearing whispers of supernatural beings being drawn there. When she's not drinking the blood of innocents, Dru can be found lurking in Sacred Heart Cathedral thinking about a family long buried.
