@casualavocados and I were talking about how just how much of a wakeup call watching Sailom get beat up was for Kang because it's the first time the stakes have been this real for him. Before this the stakes for Sailom were always sky high - if he loses his job, he loses his ability to make money and to contribute to paying off the debt and the rent and well, we saw what happens when he can't pay the rent. if he can't get his laptop fixed, he struggles with schoolwork and if his grades slip he loses his scholarship, his position in this school, and his ability to ever get out of this cycle of hardship he is in.

But the stakes for Kang - the worst consequence Kang faced (before Sailom punched him in the face) was his grandmother finding out about the bullying. The worst consequence for Kang was having to say sorry to Sailom. In that interaction the teacher most likely lost his job but Kang had to apologise and that was the worst consequence he has ever had. He has absolutely no consequences anywhere else - not even when he accuses Sailom of being a pedophile. The differences in their lives is so stark and I love the crashing down of everything Kang has ever known when he goes to Sailom's house.

But god, what does it say when the disapproval from his grandmother makes him lose his shit entirely. When he goes wordless and subservient when his father is around. When his father seems mild mannered and family oriented but Kang has it ingrained in his head that his father taught him that you need to break a dog's will to make him obedient. What does it say when that boy loses it at the slightest hint of disapproval from his grandmother. What does it say that even when he has to save Sailom, his brother jumps right in to take care of him as soon as he gets home. That even in all of this someone cares about Sailom.

Kang needs 10 doses of reality but he also needs some love.

HELLOOOO!! I hope you're all doing well. I'm putting a very .... hesitant ....... end to my break ! I've been feeling better about coming on here and chatting with everyone and I really just feel so thankful to all the people who sent me kind messages and voiced their support. thank you so much for your love and please know it meant SO much to me <3

I had to do some thinking about how I wanted to approach being a part of this community. ultimately, I decided that I need to put up some boundaries and stop pressuring myself to be this ~perfect~ version of myself on here. in full and complete honesty, I feared that if I wasn't posting a new piece of writing at least once a week, or I wasn't replying to every ask that comes through my inbox, people would stop caring. how silly! at the end of the day, I preach all the time about how this is a hobby that should be enjoyed when I wasn't even enjoying it myself.

there won't be many changes that you (my followers) may notice, but on my end, I'll be putting out writing whenever it feels right. maybe for a little bit I'll post weekly but then my inspiration runs out and I only post once in a month! who knows!

Your engagement's gonna go up, you can find a new melody for that song, work through your writer's block and just WRITE the damn thing, and you're going to GET the right gig for you. Ohm Pawat

This man can do it all, and then some. He was in 2016's Make It Right which is required BL watching, he matched Singto's energy in He's Coming to Me, and he has my entire dash in a frenzy again over Bad Buddy.

Gun Atthaphan

He has played multiple characters, at once, three times now, so at this point, he could be the entire cast of a show if GMMTV wasn't a coward. He is beautiful yet scrappy, and I truly believe he could beat any of these other men acting-wise and physically. In a street fight, my money would be on him every time.

First Kanaphan

My babygirl only serves the best performance each and every time he is on the screen. 2022 finally gave him the spotlight he so rightfully deserves with Not Me (where he played with Gun) and The Eclipse, but he held down the wacky plot of The Shipper against Ohm back in 2020, and had me rooting for him, the square, in Moonlight Chicken. Stay hydrated, babe!

Sing Harit

The Warp Effect and 3 Will Be Free added together equal one BL, so he has done more than the requirement, really, and he has been doing it almost a decade since 2014's Love Sick! Watch this man be a puppy in The Warp Effect, then play Todd in Not Me and tell me why a guy with this range hasn't been a main lead?! I DEMAND ANSWERS!

Neo Trai

Neo is a mini Sing. He played a clown so well in Cause You're My Boy where he was a love interest to Phuwin only to play his clown brother in Fish Upon the Sky, and played another clown in Tonhon Chonlatee. So when he got serious in The Eclipse, he demanded my attention. He played two different characters in Vice Versa, and now he is about to enter his villain era in Only Friends. He kills every role he is in, and I'm sure him and his abs will kill me and my mutes by the end of the year.

Fourth Nattawat

This baby got in by the skin of his teeth based on his two-minute moment in Bad Buddy. I'm counting it because he deserves to be here. He acts with his entire physical body. When Uncle Jim told his character not to be poor AND a homo in Moonlight Chicken, Fourth's whole demeanor captured exactly how the audience felt. I can't wait to see what this tiny toddler does next.

Khaotung Thanawat

I cannot write about this man and be rational. Just know he is pretty AND talented. I was rooting for him in A Tale of Thousand Stars and Moonlight Chicken, yet I don't even think they were actual possibilities. Once he starts to tear up, it's game over for these hoes. Cause understand, if Khaotung is acting in it, I'm supporting his character's rights and wrongs. BRING ME ONLY FRIENDS RIGHT NOW!

Fluke Pusit

I've already stated my case for him, but let me recap the highlights: he kisses like his energy is restored with each lip touch, and he has kissed the most GMMTV's boys. He has acted well in even his smallest roles, so I remember him each time, and he carried his weight against Ohm and First in The Shipper. He has chemistry with anyone, and it's by high time he got a lead. The Warp Effect was sooooo close = Sing x Fluke, anyone?

Mark Pakin

Look at at our man's resume: I Promised You the Moon, Bad Buddy, My School President, Moonlight Chicken, and The Warp Effect. Oh, and he is an actual world badminton champion. The directors I trust with my life, Jojo and Aof have each used him TWICE (Only Friends loading), and Aof is about to get him a third time in Last Twilight. He is being paired twice with Neo to prove they can hold their own against the OGs OffGun in Cooking Crush, which I have faith that they will exceed expectations. This man does not miss. Never. Not ever. Not fucking once.

Nanon Korapat

Nanon may be a nepo baby, but nobody puts baby in the corner. This man can ACT, and he isn't afraid to look ugly doing it. The way his face contorts to show every single emotion as he is feeling it should be studied. The way he moves his neck, hands, and overall body to exude his character's thoughts is marvelous. Oh, and The Gifted? That series was gay solely because Nanon decided to make it gay. That's powerful acting.

Bonus round: Because they aren't technically under GMMTV, but I love older men who have done their duty.

Nat Sakdatorn

Daddy. Sexually and figuratively. He played in 2016's Fathers about two gay men trying to raise their child in a country with no legal protections for queer folks, then he played Chopper's dad in Never Let Me Go. I want to see Perth act against him again because their emotions show on their faces so well, but first I want to see him kiss another man like Friend Zone or 609 Bedtime Story. However, if I'm being honest, I just simply want him to take off his clothes again like in Mama Gogo. God, this man is fine. Oh, and he can act.

Kob Songsit

I can only see him as Kinn's manipulative ass father in KinnPorsche, but Kob has been acting for 34 years, and played in the queer staple The Love of Siam. He has played supportive fathers in Until We Meet Again, Chains of Heart, Don't Say No, and the ongoing Be My Favorite, and he played the older gay version to younger Khaotung's character in 55:15 Never to Late. He has gone on the record stating that he wants to show people being gay is okay and being SUPPORTIVE of the queers should be the norm. He earns his paycheck every damn day. Thank you for your service, sir!

The characters!

The first of the pair would be CO Eclipses, or fully as Corrupt Overlord Blixer Eclipses. An odd one for sure. Has all the negative traits of an antagonist you can probably shove onto him, or a good amount at least. A little less outwardly violent than his counterpart, but has his moments. Though, he physically does not exist in the universe anymore, having been locked away in the Corruptagle of Blixer's tail.

The second would be Blixer Eclipses, the base form for C.O. Prince of planet Informibus who possesses quite the cold exterior and snappy jaw. Three siblings, a father and dad. Has quite the intense hatred for C.O., but wouldn't you too if basically a parasite used your body as a vessel to cause a Corrupt Era and commit several atrocities?

Now that I've mostly introduced the two.. how about we get started, huh?

not typically fond of the whole 'neytiri's sister' trope, but tried to do something a little different and i think it works well enough in this case !

It’d always been like this, the burden of the clan’s future on your shoulders, yet the eclipse of your younger sister’s shadow looming like a snuffing darkness. You’d been born out of obligation, Neytiri born of pure desire, and out of all the things that graced the small moon to intensify this gnawing feeling, you hadn’t expected it to be the clumsy dreamwalker who stumbled upon your village. 

Jake Sully was a peculiar thing and, even more peculiar, you were tasked with showing him the way of the Omatikaya despite having other pressing duties to tend to. So as the sun sits high at its peak in the blue skies, until it disappears and shrouds Pandora in the glowing luminescence of the moon’s heartbeat, you toil with blood, sweat, and tears to make sure that Jake Sully won’t disappoint you or your people. 

But the biggest disappointment doesn’t come from Jake, though. It comes from you. Because try as you might to separate your duties from the ministrations of your temperamental heart, you fall hard. Can’t help it when Jake doesn’t make you feel the pressure your parents and the villagers do. When he makes you giggle, makes you forget that you’re doing this out of requirement. Especially so when his fingers brush yours and your skin lights like livewire beneath a cool surface. 

Jake Sully makes you feel and you begin to wonder if you’re willing to give in and lay yourself bare at the expense of everything you’ve worked hard for since you can remember. 

So when Jake tells you that your father and mother want him to choose a woman to solidify his place in the tribe, it makes your stomach lurch like the waves of the relentless ocean. There are women, far and wide, who fawn over the newcomer. Whisper the most decent and indecent things about your Jake. 

But most importantly, Neytiri is among those eyes, the quietest of those whispers because if there’s anything she hates more, it’s the idea of crossing her beloved older sister. Of taking away yet another thing that dangles just within your reach. 

“Have you chosen?” you ask with bated breath, stoking the dying fire at the center of the tent. 

Jake blinks at you like you’re stupid, a silent gaze that asks if you’ve been experiencing the same things that he has over the course of months flooded with an overwhelming yearn for you. 

“I have,” he opts to say, swallowing down the knot of fear that wedges at the base of his throat. He moves the smallest of spaces closer, pinky finger reaching for your own as he watches the flames cast harsh shadows over the soft contours of your stoic face. 

You nod once, a long stretch of silence making the ache in Jake’s chest pinch tenfold. 

“You’re not going to ask me who?” he asks quietly. 

“Should I?” you reply, fixing the final pieces of your bravado into place. 

He blinks once, twice, in disbelief. 

“Don’t make me feel like I imagined this whole thing,” he pleads softly. 

You want to be selfish, want to push yourself into his arms, want to whisper against his lips that of course he hadn’t imagined this whole thing. That if you didn’t have your whole world on the line, that you wouldn’t think twice about giving yourself to him, of taking him as he is. 

“Perhaps you have,” is all you say, shifting to settle a sizable distance between you two. 

He’s incredulous, speaking to cover the sounds of his breaking heart. 

“I think I…,” Jake trails off. “I know that I’m falling in love with you. And I also know that you feel it, too.” 

You scoff out a humorless laugh, unable to meet his gaze because you know you’ll crack. 

“There are hundreds of other women you could set your sights on, Jake,” you say flatly. “Why me?” 

“Why not you?” he argues shakily. “I don’t care about other women, and maybe I’m being presumptuous, but I also don’t care about your sister.” 

That makes you look. 

It means that he’s noticed. He’s noticed that the same way he yearns for you, Neytiri yearns for him. It makes it burn all the more, that you’ll always be his first choice despite having to put an end to whatever this is between the two of you. 

“I have a duty to this clan, Jake,” you say, feeding more fuel to the fire. “My future has already been mapped out and you are not a part of it.” 

His face falls, ears flattening as he jerks away like he’s been burned. 

“I should’ve…” He shakes his head. “I should’ve already known I wasn’t good enough.”

Your eyes shake with tears, scalding as the flames start to lick the edges of the enclosure. Of all the things Jake could be in your book, good enough would always be one of them. 

“Don’t say that,” you whisper. “It’s not like that. It’s just–” 

“Then tell me what I did wrong!” he hoarses, chest heaving. “What’s wrong with me?” 

Your lips twitch into a frown and you hiccup as Jake unravels before you. You reach a trembling hand towards him, but he’s drawing farther and farther away from you. 

“I’ve been trying so hard,” he shudders, standing to tower above you. “To make you see that this is all for you. And I’d be a damned liar if I said that I went into this with the purest of intentions, but you made me fall for you. You made me want to be a better man for you.” 

The first tear slips and you’re dashing it away angrily. 

“Jake–” 

“I’ve fucked up a lot of things in my life, but I’m just now finding something actually worth living for,” he swallows. “So please, just be with me and let me live.” 

You’re blinking away the sheen that glosses over your eyes and pools at your waterline. 

He watches you with desperate eyes, watches as your fists clench and you sniffle over the roar of the crackling fire. It burns nearly as much as he does for you, but when you don’t meet his gaze, or make no moves to follow him after he leaves, he gets his answer.

With every new year it hurts more and more like real aching in my chest that I am one of so few Mindcrack fans left in a fandom that EXISTS because of Mindcrack.

That with joy I see people discovering moments from Mindcrack that I take for granted, but it's bittersweet because I know that's not really what they're here for. That they haven't watched the videos I have, and that's fine. In turn, I missed most seasons from this fandom.

But a big part of me longs for anyone to understand what Mindcrack really was, for anyone to care because it has inherent value in and of itself and not just in relation to another thing.

Sometimes I catch myself thinking "you would have LOVED the UHCs, or OOGE, or The Building Game, PlayMindcrack, Dwarves Vs Zombies, the Podcast, Race for the Wool, the E-Pranker, their Minecon panels, Team Nancy Drew, the Crackpack..." but there's just too many good moments that people are missing out on, and I don't even know where to begin.

I feel so old when people comment about how jarring it is seeing Bdubs' old skin.

How people don't know anything good about Genny.

There are people who don't know SethBling, or who've never heard of Super Hostile.

I understand, but I feel overwhelming sadness thinking about it all. Seeing people who have never watched a Mindcrack video in their life talking about it like it's part of the past when I'm not ready to let go yet.

And then Tango and Impulse will laugh together on stream about a reference I know so vividly because it's been part of my heart for more than half my life, and I remember that they were just like I was, that they still remember fondly, maybe even bittersweet too, everything I do. I can't help seeing myself. They didn't know they would eclipse Mindcrack ten times over. Do they worry about their future too?

Usernames etched into my school binders and sketches scribbled across homework a decade old, created with the fondness and admiration of someone excited for new videos. The same list over and over again.

I'm driving myself sick with nostalgia. Anyone who loved YHS, you know it too. I just never believed it would be so empty someday, and much like YHS it would not be the same for someone new to start watching now. In several ways, those chapters are over. Still there as an echo of that era, but on the thinnest of threads.

Mindcrack, you will always be loved.

So uh, first things first - there's your explanation for where TDTMD Act 2 Chapter 3 is. It'll come out some time in January unless some big autism moment like this happens again, sorry for the wait y'all!

Honestly, like I said in the video's description, I didn't plan for this to take all month - it was originally meant to be for Eclipse's birthday but. Delays happened.

But enough about the month gone past - or even the year gone past! I just KNOW you all wanna know what we have in store for 2024!

Firstly - TDTMD Act 2 Case 01 will still be coming out as it has been! Right now I have 5 planned chapters for Case 01 - and we're like, halfway there! Crazy, huh? But... What do I mean by "Case 01" anyway? Well, you see, TDTMD Act 2 is actually an anthology of sorts! A collection of stories that are all connected by the theme of the Black Arms' effect on PetalBloom - three stories to be exact! Each case is to have 5 chapters each, resulting in Act 2 as a whole having 15 chapters! Quite a lot! But worry not, those who are looking forward to things other than TDTMD, for I am not going to be writing all three cases back to back, no no!

After Case 01 is finished - I've scheduled myself to write a new side story - the FINAL side story for Arc 1! "But Ash, you finished Arc 1 like 2 years ago! Why are you still writing side stories attached to it?", well, mainly because my brain gets on my case about how the writing isn't as good as my newer stuff and how "unbalanced" Arc 1 and Arc 2 are in terms of content - so I'm doing this to make it shush. But also I saw potential still to be found within Arc 1's events, so, yeah! After this post goes up I'm gonna add the name of that side story to the pinned post for hype and all that :]

After THAT - I'm finally gonna go a bit into the catalogue of documented but not written Origins stories listed on the pinned post with The Englishman With The Devil's Eyes. I've been wanting to get to this one for a while now but stuff kept getting in between me and it. But no longer! For after the last Arc 1 side story, Devil's Eyes will finally have it's moment - no matter what! But... I know what you wanna hear...

New Main Stories?? - Yes yes, I hear you. Enough with the Origins and the side stories - when are we getting back to Arc 2 proper? Well aren't you in luck! Being preceded by a short side story oneshot, Mission: FOX FRENZY - the third main installment of Arc 2, will indeed be the next in line after Devil's Eyes! Not to spoil too much, but this one goes out to all you Garrick fans~! 🤭

Beyond That - I have a whole schedule planned that carries to the end of Arc 2 - both officially with the LONG awaited rewrite of Something to Bond Over, and spiritually with TDTMD Act 3 and more importantly, it's corresponding Moonlight Interlude. (what do I mean by that? You'll see~), but if I were to explain the whole of it now, why, this post would be like the new color of the sky! So I'll do it in increments~ All you need to know rn is that I plan to finish Arc 2 this year.

Lastly - The non fic stuff! The most important, I think, is the whole deal with CoC and it's cancellation. I won't go into the why of CoC being cancelled here - but rather, how it effects TEoS going forward. If you were unfamiliar, CoC was to be a webcomic that was a spinoff/crossover with TEoS. It was vaguely referenced in Innate Affiliation - meaning that it needs a replacement. That replacement is... kind of in the works as we speak - I plan to truly start remaking it into the role in February. All I'll say for now is that it's going to be another Sonic AU this time rather than an AU from another franchise. Other than that - I have a special YT video in mind to come out after the Arc 1 side story, won't say what it is yet but, I really hope you'll enjoy it - it's... gonna cost me a pretty penny. Also, this animatic (you forgot that this was the original point of the post, didn't you?) was made completely in Ibis - but after this I'm completely switching over to Clip Studio Paint! I've already been messing around with it since Xmas though - I'm very much willing to show what I've made with it so far! In fact, I think I'll do that on the main art blog later tonight!

[ARTICLE] Review: K-pop group MAMAMOO keep the ‘Mic On’ for a powerful performance during Bay Area concert debut

At their packed Oakland Arena stop during their debut “My Con” world tour, veteran K-pop girl group Mamamoo put the spotlight on one of the most underutilized concert instruments: the wireless microphone.

It’s no secret that many K-pop performances rely heavily on pre-recorded vocals, but Mamamoo bucked the trend Friday, June 2, serving up live vocals as well as looks. Hitting the stage in white blouses, bustiers and toreador leggings tucked into black knee-high boots, the quartet — Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein and Hwasa — was dressed to slay. But it was vocal performances on songs like “Make Me Happy,” “Paint Me” and “Star Wind Flower Sun” where they killed.

Mamamoo’s tour title “My Con” forms a portmanteau of “Mic On,” a nod to the name of their latest EP and the way they used their mics onstage. Moonbyul offered additional rationale that received lusty cheers from fans.

“The meaning of the tour is that Moomoos (Mamamoo fans) all over the world are coming together to make this concert happen,” she told the audience through a translator.

For more than two hours, Mamamoo showed why they’re one of the most fearless and well-rounded groups in K-pop since breaking onto the scene in 2014. Solar and Wheein form a potent singing tandem — Solar has R&B in her veins, and Wheein is a pop expressionist — while Hwasa and Moonbyul are double agents, contributing vocals and raps.

Mamamoo’s choreography was also satisfying with top-class execution and clean lines despite carrying handheld mics during the show. They were visually accentuated by eight female backup dancers and four outfit changes throughout the night.

The group’s live vocals gave credence to the “mic on” theory, though some assistive vocals could be detected to the naked ear, especially when members lowered their handhelds to complete a choreographed move.

While Mamamoo didn’t perform with a live band, the instrumental tracks sounded freshly recorded and retooled, which gave their songs a punchy, spontaneous feel — from the drumstick count-off to the big clattery toms-and-cymbals finishes.

Mamamoo injected fresh life into the solo medley portion of the show, by individually covering each other’s key solo tracks: Solar sang Wheein’s “Water Color” and Wheein performed Solar’s “Honey,” while Hwasa covered Moonbyul’s “Eclipse” and Moonbyul did Hwasa’s “Twit.”

The songs even received their own distinctive spotlight and dance routine, showing off each member’s versatility and creativity. The group came together for a performance of four more solo snippets, with Hwasa’s “Maria” receiving the biggest response as the performers executed Hwasa’s iconic body rolls during the number, a move akin to seeing James Brown do the splits.

But the night didn’t all go according to script. During the upbeat “Starry Night,” the group got a case of the giggles and broke character, before regaining composure to finish the song. Also, there were lulls as well as lolz. Three interstitial pre-recorded video segments (“VCRs” in K-pop speak) slowed momentum to a crawl. One segment lasting seven minutes — an eternity in concert time — showed group members enjoying a meal and talking shop. These would have been better served as pre-show entertainment for folks settling into their seats.

With nine years of music to pull from, it’s fair to assume that some fan favorites would not make the cut. But leaving the 2020 pick-me-up anthem “Dingga” off the setlist felt like a crucial miss. The quarantine-era hit was meant to be played in this exact setting, with everyone back in a concert hall again.

If the main concert served up stylistic amuse-bouches, the four-song encore was a pop feast. Reappearing in denim and tour merch, the women vibed along with the audience to “Travel,” “Yes I Am,” “L.I.E.C,” and closed with their effervescent early hit, “Um Oh Ah Yeah.”

The encore summed up nearly a decade of influence, showing how all-around talent, experience, fearlessness and versatility are keys to longevity.

Honestly, way back, I wrote Under my Skin, and that one originally had an unhappy ending with an epilogue, but I changed it mid-way. The Itch is probably because it's a WIP I have no idea when I'll get to finish it.

Either Eclipse of the Dawn or Part-time soulmate.

I will finish my only WIP soon, I have feelings that it will take time, but it will be done. I don't post unless I'm committed.

I've been told my banter and character dialogue make people laugh, so I think I am strong in that. Honestly, I write for myself, and if everyone likes it, I'm here for it!

Keeping things short. Also, I would say I'm a bit simplistic in my word choices so if y'all are looking for Purple prose with gratuitous romanticism, that's not me

I write languages I know and languages I speak - I try to keep it contained to terms of endearment or spells in Latin. My next fic coming does have Icelandic in it, but I try to keep it to a minimum.

Chronicles of Narnia, but first published fandom was Harry Potter

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

I wrote them all to my tastes, but I think I'm really proud of the Moonlight Saga. It was three months of intense writing, and it proved that I could write over 180K in a summer while my life was falling apart. It means a lot to me that I had the gumption.

Come Nightfall deleted scenes: Bobby Vinton

[in which Edward and Bella are listening to music in her room negotiating a deal to get her to the birthday party]

“What the hell is this?”

Edward glanced down at the laptop like he’d forgotten what he was doing. “I’ve embarked on a quest.”

Already, I could feel the tension melting out of the air. Again, I tipped back in my chair and looked at him from over my shoulder. “And that is?”

His eyes glittered, trailing down the screen. “I need songs that make me feel how you make me feel.”

“I’m sure there’s a song called ‘Stick In The Mud.’”

“I already added it,” he said, throwing me a wink.

As the singer’s vibrato trailed to the end of the measure, I leaned back further in my chair and roamed the ceiling with my eyes, musing. “So, what, you feel ‘Blue Velvet’ about me?”

“What’s with the tone? This is a classic.”

“No tone.” He studied my face. “It's just. Tony Bennett, The Clovers, Gene Ammons—fantastic ‘Blue Velvet’s. Out of all those great covers, you pick Bobby Vinton?”

Edward’s campaign to get me to like Bobby Vinton was about as aggressive as his campaign to get me to love Elvis Presley’s Girls Girls Girls. If he liked something, he tended to be unrelenting about it. And he loved 1950s crap.

He could never know about the painting I’d made listening to only Bobby Vinton. (Bobby Vinton Sings for Lonely Nights, obviously. It fit the theme of my life.) I couldn’t give him the satisfaction. Bobby Vinton was one of the least inspiring artists of the 1950s. I would die on that hill.

“What is your problem with him? You’ve never given me a straight answer.”

I scrunched up my face like I’d eaten a lemon. When he rolled his eyes, I reached out to him. The chair’s two legs slid out from under it. I squealed as I plunged to the floor.

Edward caught the backrest. His head looming over me eclipsed my bedroom light. He raised a brow.

“Oh, Edward. He’s melodramatic trash.” Edward let go of the chair. I yelped and seized him by the shirt to catch myself from falling. “Stop! It’s truth!”

He’d already caught the backrest again, grinning at my reaction. Our bare skin brushing together felt like fire had erupted in my veins. My head swam.

“The first line of your favorite Simon & Garfunkel song is ‘Hello darkness my old friend’—”

“No, ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water,’ duh.”

“Please, talk to me about melodramatic trash. I’m all ears.”

With one hand on the chair, Edward held out his other hand to me. I took his hand, crawled out of the tilted chair and settled into his lap, peering back at his laptop screen.

“Bobby Vinton is a total square.”

What little rift remained dissolved when I cuddled in next to him, when our skin met, when we melted into each other. No iron curtain. Just us, grazing each other’s skin and kissing and nuzzling, something second-nature.

“Bobby Vinton had more Billboard 100 hits from 1962 through 19—”

“You only like him cuz he wrote ‘Mr. Lonely.’”

“—than any other male voca— Not true.”

“So true. Oh my god. You’ve played that song like fifty billion times. You’re a sucker for melodrama.” The sparkle in his eyes dulled and a grin cracked over my face. “What? I’ve been listening to your fifties garbage all summer. I’m allowed to have an opinion.”

He flipped me onto my back and pulled me by the hips into him. “You seemed to like my fifties garbage,” he purred in my ear, “as I recall, Miss Swan. And I’ve listened to plenty of your six-minute 70s rock-operas, so shut your mouth.”

As if on cue, the dream-pop song dissolved into Elton John’s ‘Tiny Dancer’.

“Oh, Isabella, get your lips off me, for god’s sake, I’m trying to be mad at you…”

I didn’t stop nipping at his neck. Edward hips shifted underneath me; I could feel him swallow back a moan.

Yeah. That song was on our summer playlist. Back in an era when Edward was, as he called, “reckless with his boundaries.”

“Hm. That’s a good trade,” I mused to myself.

He was “reckless with his boundaries” when I listened to his fifties garbage, too. But I knew he’d prefer for me not to bring it up.

“What, listening to your crap music?”

“No.” I combed my fingers through Edward’s hair, twisting the locks into their usual wild shape. Pondering. Another little negotiating trick I’d picked up.

The fact that Edward knew I was plotting but couldn’t hear my thoughts drove him crazy. Anticipation killed him. Give him a mystery and he got huffy with impatience—another cute trait of his and, in situations like these, it proved very convenient.

Edward huffed.

My lips trailed up his neck; his gruff turned into a sigh. “So if I can’t bring up the change—”

“You can’t.”

“—can I negotiate for something else?” Softer, in his ear, I said, “Including but not limited to a kiss?”

My hot breath on his cold neck made him shudder instinctively. “Kiss, singular? I’m not sure I’ve ever gotten that request.”

“My expectations have officially hit rock bottom.”

“Quite the charmer, Miss Swan.”

Most days, I didn’t have trouble convincing him for one measly kiss. And one always carried on long, so it was really more like one and a half. If he had just hunted or if I had just said something sweet or if we kissed during a song he liked, we could push it to two and a half. And since two and a half was basically three—

By the time he leaned closer and pressed his icy lips to mine, my head spun with the smell of him; the spicy, warm scent on him intoxicated me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and locked myself to him. The hunger for more energy—more intoxication, more power, more of him—tore through me.

When he tore himself away, we breathed ragged against each other’s lips.

“I can’t discuss—that,” he said. “The change. Not now. Please do not ask me again.”

I nodded. My hands roamed the sensitive parts of his exposed skin, reading his reactions like a map written in braille.

Edward growled low and deep; it rolled out of him like a warning. I stroked the side of his throat with my thumb; his tongue flicked across my skin.

He continued in a low voice. “But if you’re hellbent on getting a good deal out of your birthday—” I chuckled softly at him. “—I’ll do my best to meet your terms, whatever they may be. I will try.”

I kissed his cheek.

“Be good,” he said, his fingers roaming down my chest. He took his hand away and it settled on my hip. A promising reaction.

“Okay,” I murmured.

He kept my forehead glued to his to prevent me from attacking his neck. His bare skin touching mine felt like someone was pouring effervescent champagne over my brain and letting it run down the rest of me.

We stayed there, holding each other, for a long while.

Hello, feel free to ignore this if you don't wanna answer but I finally got to watch your rpg video (which was very cute and fun to watch) and you seem to know your way around tsams. Do you think you could maybe give a quick explanation of what the fuck is happening?! I want to get into this show but there's like 1000 layers of lore, drama, and complications (and don't get me started about their side channels) that make it hard to understand what's happening. I don't really wanna watch 6 months of daily content, I've already tried and failed, and nobody has any sort of explanation of what's going on 😱😱

Hello! I'm glad you enjoyed my video and appreciate your kind words <3 As far as the lore of SAMS goes dw, I was in your shoes too. I only started watching them last December and I had like 7 months of lore to catch up on. I did find out (if you want to experience the lore yourself) you can just watch their VRchat videos. Most of the lore is in there (besides a few minecraft lore videos). They have a Playlist of it on their channel, and that should help you understand the majority of it. But here is my crappy bullet point explanation if you want a super summary. Keep in mind though I wasn't there for most of it so some of these events I don't fully understand myself. Before they started their channel: - Sun and Moon shared a body. Moon hated it and was constantly causing Sun pain. Moon already has a virus (though they refer to it as a Kill Code) - They eventually reconcile and agree to work together. Moon makes his own body and transfers his AI too it while trying to leave his Kill Code behind (hoping it would just deactivate) - I believe they follow the in game events of the pizzaplex burning down and now their homeless The start of their channel: - Two bros, chilling in a bunker, 5 feet apart cause their playing video games for their channel. They also continue to run a mini daycare - Moon starts to show signs that his Kill Code is returning and Sun also starts to act a bit-- kill codey (because Moon left it behind in Sun) - JULY 16th! Sun kills for the first time. This kill code Sun eventually becomes the character Eclipse. Eclipse and Lunar Era: - Eclipse makes another AI named Lunar (think of it if Moon was actually a nice non-gremlin killing DCA) and he stealth ninja star usbs Lunar into Moon's body. - Sun and Moon are unaware of them for awhile, until they eventually make themselves known and take over Sun and Moon's body (The Sun and Moon show temporarily becomes the Eclipse and Lunar show where the two alternates play video games instead. Very amusing to watch). - Eclipse tortures Sun and Moon a lot while he tries to get the Newton Star (a device that Moon created that can wipe out all AI's memories in a certain vacinity) - Eclipse is an asshole to Lunar and eventually Lunar decides to help Sun and Moon out instead, officially becoming a 'brother' to them. - This part I don't know much about but somewhere along the line-- Moon learns magic and Sun, Moon, and Lunar were able to defeat Eclipse and leave him to rot in a forest. Bloodmoon Era: - Things are pretty chill. Sun, Moon, and Lunar become closer. Monty is a thing. He's a good freind. Lunar and Sun take care of the daycare (they now have a full daycare they work and live in) and Moon is busy looking for and destroying Eclipse's backups. - Bloodmoon becomes a thing. Idk how. Idk why. But he's here and he's out for your blood (I think Eclipse had created him at some point) - Bloodmoon is two AIs in one body and all they crave is blood and violence - Sun, Moon and Lunar visit different AUs, one of them being if Eclipse had won (also known as the SAMSwarAU which is an AU that slowly getting popular if you ever see it-- thats what that is) - Eclipse has a backup in Bloodmoon and the two(three?) start working together to get back at Sun, Moon, and Lunar Kill Code Era (current Era): - Sun breaks Moon's computer and Moon's Kill Code gets reactivated (all orchestrated by Eclipse) - Monty enter's Moon's head to save Lunar and Moon's Kill Code becomes an official character named Kill Code (or KC) - Bloodmoon and Eclipse try and get KC on their side (though Bloodmoon and KC just end up making a deal instead), Monty saves Lunar, and Sun is just trying his best - KC and Moon make a deal. KC will leave Sun, Lunar, and Monty alone, help Moon take control over Bloodmoon and Eclipse, if they can work together to kill their creator. Moon accepts the deal so he can get his body back. (oh ya-- their creator is appearntly an asshole but idk much about him) And now you're all caught up. Thank you for coming to my spark notes edition of the SAMS lore. There is a lot of small details I left out and I'm sure there are some things I've gotten wrong or just didn't know even happened but this is my own understanding of it, coming into the community late. I'm very new to the berserk fandom and it's been fantastic, on tumblr at least, so i don't know why the perception of the fandom has changed for the worse. Could you elaborate on how/why that happened?

I've talked about the berserk fandom in general‚ be it on twitter, instagram, reddit et cetera, but it's kind of difficult to compare it on tumblr since it's only really a pseudo social media.

Anyways, to answer your question. It's believed to be more than one reason, but 2 things that I think were the most prominent ones(from my own observation and experience at least) - covid era and the sudden boost in popularity specifically on twitter.

Now the covid one is something that applies to A LOT of other media communities aswell. Basically what it did was open up a path for Berserk to be consumed by people who usually wouldn't even touch it(animanga haters, those who would usually just watch trendy shonens and others). On a surface level it sounds nice, but then slowly it grew apparent that those people severely lacked the media literacy required to understand Berserk for even its pretty obvious core messages. So what did those people do? They egregiously twisted many themes it's trying to portray and usually either made fun of some very explicit scenes or saying Miura deserved to die for writing them.

The latter mostly comes from the previously mentioned burst of relevance on twitter, but still not being exclusive to it. If you were ever using twitter you may know what kind of toxicity it breeds, so this may make sense to you. In case you weren't, there are youtube videos out there and whatnot that can explain it to you better than me. Besides, that could be a whole separate post in and of itself.

As I said in the post you're referring to, those bad corners did exist in the past. One big difference - there were only bad corners. Vocal, but miniscule and completely dismissible parts of the community. One long known example of this I can think of on top of my head was the berserklejerk subreddit. I have no idea if that thing is still breathing, though sadly I'm afraid it most likely is. If you were to visit it and were lucky, all you would see are Donovan, Eclipse **** jokes repackaged and repeated over and over again. Nothing posted there was funny, appropriate or respectful to the actual work. Still, they could've been ignored and for the most part they have been. Now... Imagine that instead of being 0.1% of the fandom, it's more than 50%.

The covid influence was actually described very well in this one twitter post I found a few days ago.

For the berserk fandom in particular, check out RealLifeRyan's video about it. It does a fairly decent job at expressing what's wrong with its current state.
