I wish we got Jason being upset or jealous or something of Percy being closer to Thalia than he was. Annabeth too, tbh.
Like, can you imagine what that would have been like. Thalia is the ONLY family Jason really has. Camp Jupiter thinks of him as a soldier. His mom is dead and his dad is Zeus.
And he barely has any relationship with her!! He didn't even know she existed for most of his life and then they finally found each other but they had to split up after just a few hours and only saw each other a couple of times after that! Meanwhile Percy has gone on multiple quests with her and got to spend around a year with her and they were already pretty close at the start of TTC. Annabeth spent a year on the streets with her and also got to hang out with her pre-TTC to the point where Percy was competing with Thalia to be Annabeth's best friend (albeit one sided) And then there was Luke and Nico and the hunters of Artemis and even Reyna.
Just. Idk. Give me Jason wishing he could have that with Thalia.

maybe jason is boring or maybe it’s the forced upon military training since the age of two (2!) and the expectation/pressure to be perfect that deprived him of having an actual childhood and having access to hobbies to figure out who he is & what he likes, and he still didn’t get to have that after the wars bc demigods can’t have anything for themselves for just one fucking second!

Catching Up
Thalia: So what happened after Juno took you? Where did you go? Were you safe, happy?
Jason, uncomfortably brushing her off: Well, it’s a long story and kind of a bummer haha. You don’t wanna hear that right now.
Thalia, softly: Jason, I’ve waited thirteen years to hear your sad stories.

okay but the fact that jason grace joined the most unpopular legion even after being offered the first legion and was warned by others to not join the 5th, just so that he can restore its honor again like :( also, it's said that jason went out of his way to befriend the unpopular kids.
He spent the last two weeks in his life knowing he was going to die, he sacrificed himself for a god he barely knew. Even after he got violently impaled, Jason was whispering orders to tempest to get apollo to safety. His last words were "GO! REMEMBER!"
Jason grace died getting his heart broken. Yet he'd rather let Piper live if it meant that he'd die because he loved her too much, even after the breakup.
fuck toa, jason deserved better. y'all be hating on jason when characters like octavian exist smh. Bash me all you want, idc i'll always be salty abt his mistreatment.

Reading through Jason Grace's wiki really gives such an introspection to his character and successes.
People always view him as lesser, seeing Percy as the most powerful.
But he is stated multiple times to be on par with Percy, even having successes that Percy has not accomplished.
Killing a Titan BY HIMSELF, has killed six giants in total and so on.

currently in bed crying over jason’s story and how rick truly failed him as a character. He had so much potential, so many traumas that added depth to his character, and so many unexplored personality traits. He deserved a better writing AND a better ending.

JASON GRACE DESERVED BETTER
Like just off the top of my head here’s what he went through in his life.
Born as a son of Jupiter
Given as a token (gift) to Juno for just being born
Abandoned in the woods at the age of 2
Joined the Camp Jupiter legion at 3/4 (he was a toddler when he got that tattoo)
Became co-praetor of the Camp Jupiter Legion around 14
Fought Krios (a titan!!) single-handedly at 14
Was kidnapped from everything he’s ever known and his memories taken at 15 ( and then never actually fully returned?!?!)
Put straight into a quest in the middle of his amnesiac haze
Looked straight at Juno in her god form and died (he did die, it was just a combination of Piper and the doors of death being open that brought him back)
The entire last three books
Multiple concussions
His eyes problems, like did Hera make him forget he needed glasses or did New Rome have bad health benefits for its legion
No longer being considered fully Roman and demoted from praetor
Best friend died
Broke up with his other best friend
Didn’t feel at home at either camp so went to boarding school
Died

Note
I read your post and remembered something from my Brainrot.
fatal flaw of Percy - loyalty and I headcanon his dual Roman heritage of Venus and Apollo. The common symbol of these gods is a swan... The swan in culture is a symbol of loyalty to their beloved, these beautiful white-feathered creatures choose one pair for life and die if she dies or they remain lonely for the rest of their lives. Do you understand what I'm getting at? When Jason dies, Percy remains alone forever. He is the grandson of the goddess of love and the grandson of the god known for his tragedies, loyalty is sewn into his soul by the rest of the threads. He and Jason were doomed from the very beginning.
When Jason dies, a part of Percy dies with him and he no longer feels life the way he should - the sun is not as warm and bright, the air is heavy and life is no longer so good without Jason. a couple of years pass and Percy is still lonely and fiercely rejects all those in love with him. His loved ones are worried about him, they say that life goes on, that Percy shouldn't bury himself alive, that he should move forward, that his Jason wouldn't want endless grief for him. But Percy can't, he just can't, he doesn't even see That he can fall in love again, Jason is his soul mate, his soulmate is the love of his life after all. Percy is loyal, terribly loyal, and he will remain loyal to Jason until they reunite in Hades.
ANON YOU ARE SPEAKING MY LANGUAGE.
I absolutely love your thought path and agree entirely. I love letting Jason live him life out filled with new memories and love. But letting Percy live out the rest of his life after losing Jason is just as tempting.
Not to be that guy but Percy losing his will to live, maybe struggling to keep up his self care, going from bright, snappy Percy to a bleak version of himself. He loses weight, loses his muscle, he’s hardly functional and if anyone had any handle on him, he’d have been banned from battle long ago. On top of him battling depression though, I feel as though his temperament would drastically change, especially as time progressed on. He pushes more people away with time. He’s either so depressed that he’s impenetrable to anyone’s help, so enraged at the misfortune he’s faced in his life (obviously when a tragedy happens that’s so large and impactful, like the loss of a lover, the other impactful things you’ve been pushing away for later just tumble out), or spending his time just locked away, sobbing until he’s listless and numb.
No doubt passes through my mind that Percy is either the strongest person externally after someone important in his life passes away or the absolute worst. But all in all, we know he deals with sui*idal thoughts. He’s had them represented to us in the writings and even if they weren’t explicitly there or not there at all, there’s literally nothing a single person could do to convince me he wouldn’t have such thoughts after living the life he does. NOTHING! So losing Jason, it’s like a 24/7 struggle. He is either diligent in ignoring it or it’s a one more small tick of a box and it’s over for him. No doubt in my mind. I’d dealve deeper into that but this post is more about jercy and the tragedy of it all than it is my character deep dive all about Percy and how dingy his mental health must be after some digging.
Jason, I miss u everyday.
Thank you anon for your genius brain moment and for sending me my first ask

jason grace correct timeline (if the burning maze never happened) and thalia greatly influenced jasons aesthetic
image desc
a time frame of jason grace from age 16 to 18, he has pale blond hair, pale white skin and blue eyes and a jagged scar on the right of his lip, it starts at his nostril and ends at the bottom lip. all are bust drawings that stop at the chest.
at early 16 he has long straight slightly wavy hair past his shoulders, a purple t shirt and a white toga. he’s stone faced.
late 16 he has short hair and a more open expression, he looks lost and curious, he’s wearing a periwinkle shirt with a black windbreaker on top.
early 17 his hair is grown out quite a bit to frame his face and the back peeks out from his neck, he has a smile, distorting his lip scar slightly and relaxed eyes and wears an orange t shirt. he has a new scar on his collarbone, 3 scars like claw marks.
late 17 Thalia, his punk sister and Nico, his goth friend help style him more as he grows into his own person and he gets a half shaved haircut, keeps the other half long and dyes it black including the shaved part. he’s smiling confidently and has a new scar on his cheek.
18, the shaved part of his hair has grown out the black dye and has been shaved again, its now blond with a lightning symbol shaved into the temple. his hair now curls and reaches his shoulders again like when he was 16, his roots are growing out with black fading into blond, jason is mid laugh with his eyes scrunched shut. he’s wearing a black t shirt and an open light blue button up

(Spoilers for ToA)
Do you ever think that Apollo saw and was upset by any similarities between Hyacinthus and Jason?
I mean, I’m reaching a little bit, but for how little we know about Hyacinthus, there’s a few things they have in common.
For one thing, Apollo called Hyacinthus “the most handsome of men”. And Jason is constantly being described as really quite good looking by basically every character that ever describes him in the series. Can’t remember for sure but I thought Apollo might have commented on his looks once as well? Think he called him “impressive” or something at least.
Hyacinthus has dark hair and purple eyes, so fair enough not much similarity there. But Jason’s signature colour is purple from the Legion so that’s something. Hyacinthus is described as having bronze skin as well. Might be slipping into fanon but I thought Jason also had tanned bronze skin at some points?
In The Hidden Oracle, Apollo dreams of Hyacinthus and he has a big dent in the side of his head above his left ear where the discus struck him. Jason got that bevel (his wild streak) in his hair from Sciron’s bullet, and everyone seemed to like it so maybe he kept it? Could be wrong but I think that groove was above his left ear too.
Aside from looks. Hyacinthus was said to be very brave, entering a relationship with a god which could be dangerous. He was also a Prince of Sparta who knew how to fight, so he’d probably fought in battles too. Jason was said to be very courageous, sacrificing himself in The Burning Maze to save everybody and all the fights he’d fought before. Plus, some people (in the fandom anyway) draw comparisons between him leading the Legion and being Jupiter’s son as effectively being a prince of sorts.
Hyacinthus is supposed to be very kind as well. Jason was shown to be kind handling Nico and making a point to remember minor gods.
Apollo sings of his love for Hyacinthus in The Hidden Oracle and expresses his regret over his jealousy which ultimately killed Hyacinthus. In The Tyrant’s Tomb, Apollo sings about his regret over Jason’s death and about Jason’s bravery and skill.
Hyacinthus’ father taught him archery and martial arts, which he was supposed to be very good at. Among Jason’s other abilities, he’s supposed to be extremely agile. Annabeth described him as very acrobatic when he flipped over Dakota at Fort Sumter.
Hyacinthus was the son of Clio the Muse of History. He knew loads about history and enjoyed it. Jason was mentioned to love history as well, and he always knew lots of helpful Roman history and myths through the quest. Clio taught Hyacinthus history herself to make sure he didn’t repeat the mistakes of his ancestors. Jason and Reyna learned from previous emperors mistakes and tried to emulate the admirable ones in their own leadership styles.
Both were killed by a god (since Caligula had basically become a god by that point) that was mad at Apollo. Apollo felt incredibly guilty over both their deaths, feeling that they wouldn’t have died if he had done better and acted differently, that they died because they were with him.
Hyacinthus loves Apollo dearly. Apollo thinks of him as one of his two greatest loves. Jason defended Apollo to their father at the end of the HoO quest, something that means a lot to Apollo, because not even Artemis, his twin sister, spoke on his behalf because nobody was ever brave enough to stand up to Zeus. That puts Jason higher on Apollo’s list of recognised siblings and half-siblings, since it’s suggested he’s never really paid a great deal of attention to demigod half-siblings before.
Maybe there’s some other things as well but that’s all I can think of for now. But for two totally unrelated characters that’s a lot in common. Just wonder if Apollo thought about any of that and if it made him sadder when Jason died too.
Oh, and obviously, the fact that both their heads are magnets for flying projectiles.
