'THE RED RANGER'
Tumblr media
gif belongs to me
Jason searched the school for you while the other Rangers headed to face off against Rita's latest monster. You were heading down the stairs when he found you and you knew instantly from his expression of regret that another date was about to be cancelled. That made it four in a row.
You listened as he claimed to have another emergency, and promising to make it up to you, and as you watched the man you love lie, you felt your anger reach a boiling point and your heart shatter.
"Don't bother." You walked by him and Jason called out to you as you headed down the hallway, sighing when you ignored him. Alpha warned him that the others were struggling without him and he knew he had to choose, and in that split second he chose his friends, hoping he hadn't ruined his chances with you.
Little did he know that you had plans of your own. You followed him out of school to the park where the other Rangers were fighting. Your eyes widened when you saw him help the four Rangers defeat the Putties. You clutched your camera tightly, snapping pictures of the Rangers as they fought to defeat the Putties.
You had supported him during competitions so you knew when his mind was distracted and when two Putties advanced behind him, you called out to him, "Jason, look out!"
He turned, finding you standing with your camera. He took down the Putties and looked at where you stood frozen, "Run, Y/N! Run!"
You hesitated as you watched him take down another Putty and swallowed thickly when he promised to explain later, taking out his morpher. You knew from the look in his eyes that you would only serve as a distraction and the last thing you wanted was for him to get hurt. So you left, looking over your shoulder just in time to catch him morphing into the Red Ranger. You stumbled but kept on running. You had no destination in mind, however, when you realized it was best to stay away from your house, you headed to Ernie's and when he saw how frazzled you were, he brought you a shake on the house.
Almost an hour later Jason entered with his friends and you knew from their expression that they knew, you found out about their secret. Jason approached you, a tentative smile on his lips as he said, "I can explain everything, if you want me too."
You left Ernie's and walked around Angel Grove, having no particular destination in mind as he told you the story about how he and his four friends became Power Rangers and the secret they vowed to keep to Zordon. You listened intently, not asking questions and allowing him to speak freely.
You stopped walking when he took your hands, assuring you that from this moment forth he would always confide in you, never lie about 'emergencies' and you saw the fear in his eyes - his belief that you would reject him and end your relationship.
You closed your eyes, squeezing his hands as you met his gaze, "Just promise me one thing."
"Anything." He agreed instantly.
"Always come back to me."
Jason smiled, a weight lifted from his shoulders, his hands rising to your cheek, "I promise. I love you. And I will never lie to you again. From here on out, complete transparency."
You smiled softly, "I love you too."
He leaned in to kiss you passionately, wrapping his arms around your as he deepened the kiss, and you placed your hands on his cheeks, smiling against his lips.
That day you made an oath to always be truthful, honest, and always stand by one another no matter what the future had in store. Your love will always persevere.

"Don't worry, I got you."

Fictober Day 2
Jason Lee Scott x Reader
Description: Crushes come from unexpected places sometimes, such as the Youth Center. And you couldn't help yourself but fall for Jason. however, your feelings may not be as one sided as you'd think. {1.7k Words}
A/N: WOW THIS IS STRANGELY LONG. I like this one, I don't know if y'alls will like it as much as I do but here, enjoy. Hes such a himbo sfhakjflkjslkdfsj
---------------------------------
Truth be told, you had a crush. It was different then anything you had felt before, a feeling that filled you up and made you feel like everything would be all right. A feeling of yearning, the want to just see his face, hear his voice, see him smile. And if it was you he was smiling at? You were doomed. Dead meat. Blushing so hard that you were nothing but a smoldering pile of feelings on the floor.
It was unlike you to harbor such strong feelings of liking. Especially towards guys like him. Yes, Jason Lee Scott truly had you in a predicament.
Usually what you looked for in a guy… wasn’t that. Jason was always at the gym, he was very talented at martial arts. Usually sporty gym rats like him repelled you. They were supposed to be self centered - with an ego larger than their head. They were supposed to only spend time with like-minded people, like other jocks or cheerleaders. They were supposed to be assholes.
And yet he was so overwhelmingly kind. He was nothing like you had expected him to be.
You two had been in the same class for a long time. Most of that time was spent not talking, not looking at each other, not knowing each other. But one day at the Youth Center he had bumped into you, causing you to drop your smoothie all over the floor. Even though none of it got on you, he seemed to feel terrible and bought you a new one. On top of that he even stayed and talked a bit. All it took was one conversation and you knew that you were a lost cause. He was too good for you. And that’s why you liked him.
After that short encounter he began waving at you in the hallways at school, sometimes his friends would wave too. Sometimes he’d say hello, and if he had enough time he would ask about your day. Life carried on like this for a very long, stagnant period of time, but it was enough for you.
The next major interaction you had was at the school. You had been planning a tennis tourney for the community and you had all of your work laid out in front of you, trying to make sense of it and organize it in the best way when-
“Did you do all of this?”
You jumped slightly. Turning, Jason stood to your left, scanning over your work with a fascination. There were piles of the sign up sheets, piles of possible sponsors, court assignments, a tentative schedule for the day, and even planning for concessions. You had truly put your best effort into it.
You smiled, “Yeah, I’ve had so many people tell me how excited they are, and I just want to make it the best I can.”
“And you did this yourself?” You could have sworn he leaned in closer to you, even just a little.
You shrugged, “Mostly. If I had realized that it was so much work I would have asked for help.”
Jason picked up one of the sign up sheets. “Is it too late to sign up?”
“Technically the cutoff was last Friday, but if you know someone who’s interested, I can get you a form.”
He nodded, “Can I get a few? I’m sure my friends would love to do it too.” You turned and walked to another table, picking up some blank forms.
“Would you want to be my doubles partner?” Jason’s voice came from behind you.
Your heart dropped but your expression didn’t sway. Handing him the forms you said, “I’d really love to play with you Jason but I’ll be too busy running the tournament.”
“What if somebody helped run it?”
“It's fine.”
“It's not fair. You planned the entire thing and you don’t even get to play.” He took the forms and looked over them. An alarm on his watch went off.
Jason looked disappointed as he said, “Sorry, I have to be somewhere.” He looked at you,  “But I’ll see you at the tournament?”
You smiled, “of course!”
And off he went. You didn’t see him much in the next week. You were so busy planning that you didn’t have time to seek him out for the sign up forms. You just created enough slots to fit in a few last minute entries in case he turned them in. If you thought about it, you would have realized that you hadn’t seen Jason around at all, even at times you normally would.
The night before the tourney you stopped by the Youth Center to get a smoothie and take a break from your work. Ernie placed the cup in front of you.
“Ernie, I ordered a medium.”
“Yeah but I’ve heard how hard you’ve been working. Accept it as a little gift from me.”
“I haven’t had time to keep up on the news. Anything about the Power Rangers?”
Ernie gave a small sigh, “They’ve been fighting a lot this week”
You heard a group enter the building. Looking back you saw Jason. His face lit up in a grin when he saw you and he quickly made his way to sit by you. He pulled a  wad of folded sheets from his pocket.
“Is it too late to give these to you?”
You took the sheets and unfolded them. The first sheet had Jason’s name under it and underneath was a large red X in the doubles spot. Next to it he wrote in your name to be his partner.
You flipped through the sheets under it. Each one had an X marked under singles and doubles with “volunteering” written in. You couldn’t help but smile a little wider as you saw the names.
You looked up at Jason who had been waiting for you to get through them expectantly. His friends had also made their way over and were grinning at you, proud of what they had done.
“Aw, you guys… thank you!”  You got up and hugged them one by one.
As you got to Jason he laughed, “You should know, I’ve never played tennis before.”
You laughed too, giving him a big hug, butterflied erupting in your stomach, “That’s ok, I can teach you a few things.”
They all ended up getting smoothies too as you explained forehands and backhands to Jason, trying to get the basics down. You stayed there until Ernie kicked you out.
The tournament the next day started with a bang. Everyone was super excited to play, and many people who weren’t playing came to watch. Zack was managing court assignments. Billy and Trini ran concessions. Tommy was collecting scores and Kimberly was doing the various other small tasks such as giving players new balls and refilling water bottles.
You and Jason were set to start fairly late in the day due to signing up as late as you did. As you stood watching Bulk and Skull get their butts kicked at doubles, Jason bumped you lightly with you shoulder.
“Thanks for agreeing to play with me.”
You bumped him back, “Thanks for giving me a break.”
You glanced over at him to see he was already looking at you, with a soft expression on his face.
“You know, I really…”
“You really…?
“I need you to know that I-” He didn’t get to finish his phrase as a gang of putties flooded onto the court.
You had no idea where they came from, but all you knew was that where there were putties, there was usually something much worse. You made a beeline for the court, beginning to usher teams away from the danger. Putting yourself between some classmates and a putty, you took a hard kick to the ribs. The impact point erupted in a stabbing pain and you fell to the ground clutching your side.
You waited for more attacks, holding your eyes shut and steeling yourself in preparation, but none ever came. You squint your eyes open to see the red ranger standing before you, a pile of putties knocked out at his feet.
Another moment and he turned, crouching down to check on you. “Don’t worry, I got you.” The voice rang out, strangely familiar in your mind. A momentary peace consumed your mind.
Too shocked to respond, you stayed silent and nodded as he helped you up with a gentle hand.
Across the court you saw the other rangers facing a much larger, much scarier creature. The red ranger pushed you lightly in the other direction.
“Get yourself to safety. We’ll handle this.”
Again, you nodded dumbly and made your way towards the school, which was nearby. Upon arriving, you found that most of the people from the tourney were here. Except… Jason wasn’t. Upon further examination you found out that neither of his friends were either. You sat down, exhausted, and you began to fear that they were still out there. Maybe some putties had gotten them. Maybe that monster had gotten them. And they were out there possibly in danger and you had run away?
The ground trembled slightly as an explosion went off outside.
What was Jason going to tell you? Were you ever going to get the chance to hear it? Were you ever going to tell him how you felt?
You weren’t sure how long you sait there spiraling, full of what if’s and fears and regrets until-
“You’re ok!”
Jason ran up to where you sat, relief painted all over his features.
A million thoughts ran through your mind but none were stronger than the relief as you pulled him in for a giant hug.
“... the tournament was ruined.” you mumbled, still hugging him.
You could have sworn he held you a little tighter, “I’m just glad you’re ok.”
Pulling back you looked at him, “Yeah, I was lucky the red ranger showed up when he did. I’m also lucky everyone else is safe, especially you.”
He smiled at you.
“By the way… what were you going to say before?”
Jason laughed softly. “I was just going to say that I really like you...”
Your face flushed and you could have sworn that your heart may have exploded. He actually felt the same?
“... and I was wondering if you’d like to go out with me sometime?”
You broke into a giant smile and gave him a small kiss on the cheek.
“I’d love to!”
“Perfect, I’ll pick you up on Friday.”

Author's Note: I’ve decided that for my New Years resolution I’d learn Italian. With that being said I decided to try and add some into the story. So I used my translator on my phone for some of the Italian in here. I am in no way shape or form fluent in Italian yet, but I hope to be eventually. If you guys see anything wrong with my Italian I am so so sorry and we are not trying to offend or anything. We just thought it’d be cute if the reader had some Italian background.
Also we now have voting open for Jason snippets!!! You can vote here. Please please please go vote and let us know what you want to see! Now please enjoy the chapter.

Jason’s Pov:
The girl in yellow gets dragged from her hiding spot, kicking and screaming. She gets dragged halfway down the hall and I fight my instinct to keep y/n away instead of deciding to rush in to help.
“Didi, I’m coming!” Zack yells out as he jumps out of his hiding spot before I even have a chance.
Her screams come to a stop and she looks at what looks like a robot in front of her. She stares at it in shock as it bends down to her.
“You’re real!” It exclaims in excitement before standing up straight when it hears Zack yelling.
Zack lets out a primal yell as he runs at the little red and silver robot, but the robot's arm extends like it did when grabbing the girl in yellow. The robot grabs Zack by the throat and throws him behind it. I rush out along with Kimberly and Billy before coming to a stop in front of the thing.
“We will kill you,” I warn the robot in hopes it’ll deter it from fighting.
“Kill me? How?” It asks, gesturing with its weird arms as it talks and shakes its head in disbelief.
“There’s six of us,” Kimberly states hesitatingly from beside me, trying to help.
“Yes, I know! I’ve been waiting for you,” the robot speaks as it throws his arms out.
“Wait, there’s two missing. Where’s the other guy and girl?” It questions as it looks at all of us.
“One, two, three, four…” the robot counts us out in confusion.
“Oh! There he is!” It exclaims as it shoots its arm out and pulls a screaming Zach over to us.
“Now, where is number six…?” it questions, looking around again as Zach steadies himself.
“Ahh, there she is,” the robot comments and its arm shoots out to y/n, who’s still practically catatonic.
He pulls her over and she stumbles so I quickly catch her. She leans into me and I pull her a little closer -as close as I physically can in hopes of protecting her better- as I quickly look her over to make sure the thing didn’t hurt her. Once I’m sure she’s ok, I look back up at the robot.
“All of you,” the robot says as it motions to us.
“In a spaceship buried underground? How long have you been waiting?” Billy asks in pure confusion as we all continue to keep our guards up.
“What’s today?” the robot throws his hands up again.
“Monday?” it asks with his head tilting ever so slightly as he gets a little closer.
We all instinctively move back a step and I make sure I’m more in front of y/n. Billy gives a small ‘yeah’ as confirmation to the robot’s question and I keep up my ready to fight stance with my one hand that’s not holding onto y/n.
“Then 65 million years,” the robot explains, making me and Billy look at one another.
“I’ve been very lonely,” the robot dramatically tells us after it lets out a sound that sounds like a sigh.
“You’re all so young looking,” the robot says in excitement before moving forward again, making us all quickly jump back away from it.
“This has to do with the coins?” I ask as I look at the robot in confusion.
“Yes, yes, the coins!” the robot exclaims as he throws his arms in the air.
“Different colors… different kids. Different colored kids,” he explains as he motions from right to left.
“I’m so excited you’re here!” it shouts as it jumps with its arms extending out just a bit at us again and we all shrink back in fear with gasps.
“Turn around…” it tells us as it motions with its hand.
We all watch the robot as it snaps its arms back into place and we all jump a little. We continue to stare at it as if we’re frozen.
“Go on,” it tells us as it throws its head lightly to the side.
Slowly we all turn around together only to be in awe once again. We look out over a small balcony at what seems to be a big TV-like screen with a glowing force in the middle of six platforms.
“No way…” I murmur in awe of the place.
“Proceed,” the robot speaks up from behind us.
Together we all start to head down the stairs, Kimberly and Zack go down before me. I stop for a moment and look down at y/n, who’s still wrapped around me. She slowly blinks and I smile.
“There we go. Come on, pretty girl. You’re all good,” I whisper as she blinks some more, but still hasn’t fully come out of it so I opt to just pull her along with me.
“Think this’ll work,” the robot mutters from behind Kimberly and Zack.
I follow Billy and the girl in yellow down the other steps on the other side. I gently pull y/n with me and it’s like she’s here, but not quite all the way with us, still frozen in fear.
“One, two, three, four, five, six. Different colors,” the robot continues to mutter as we get about halfway down the stairs.
“Guys, let’s focus on getting out of here,” Kimberly whispers loudly as we continue down the steps.
“Stay together, and then when we see a chance-” Kimberly continues on as we hit the bottom of the stairs.
“We run like hell,” the girl in yellow states, cutting Kimberly off.
“Okay… if we don’t get a chance?” I skeptically ask as we all come to a stop in front of the center that’s a glowing force of some kind.
“Then we kill it,” Zack comments and I look at him, but move my eyes when a small squeak comes from y/n.
I quickly look her over and now it’s like she’s waking up. She blinks and when she sees me, she instantly wraps her arms around me. I smile a little as I wrap my arm back around her shoulder and hold her closer, the feeling of instant relief washing over me.
“Welcome back, pretty girl,” I mutter as I leave a kiss on her forehead as comfort.
“Shouldn’t hurt, but let’s see,” the robot talks to itself as it stops on the other side of the platform.
“Please, step into the footprints,” it asks us as it motions to all the platforms.
We all look at each other in confusion and I feel y/n’s arms tighten around my middle. I gently squeeze her shoulder to let her know I’m there as I look at the others.
“No. We are not going to do that,” I whisper out to them and they all seemingly agree with me.
“Hey, question,” Billy speaks up, lifting his arm to get the robot’s attention before putting it back down.
“Um, what are you?” he asks and we all look at the robot.
“I’m Alpha 5, an alphormic lorcaid persona android,” the robot explains with his voice going out at the end.
“What?” I ask in confusion with furrowed eyebrows.
“He said he’s an Alpha 5…” Billy starts, but I hold a hand out to him.
“Yeah, I know,” I tell him and he nods before turning back to look at the robot.
“I’m a talking robot. You can trust me,” Alpha 5 tells us, its voice lowering to a whisper at the end as it holds out its hands in an open manner. Its eyes make a weird blink motion and I hear a scoff of disbelief from y/n, making me look down at her.
“Yeah, cause it’s definitely ok to trust a talking robot. Can’t see how that’ll end badly,” she says quietly, rolling her eyes and I hold back a laugh.
It then goes quiet for a moment and we all think it over. I see movement out of the corner of my eye, making me turn to see Billy stepping onto one of the platforms.
“Billy!” I whisper-shout at him, but he keeps moving.
He steps up on to the small platform before tapping a foot on it. It makes a ding sound and a dust-like substance flies up from the platform. Billy looks down at the platform in awe before taking a small leap with his eyes closed.
When nothing happens, he opens his eyes and looks at us. He laughs lightly and looks back down at where he’s standing before looking back up again. He then waves his hand at us in excitement.
I feel y/n let go of me and I immediately reach for her, but she avoids my grip and walks over to a platform of her own. Next, Zack turns and looks at us for a moment.
“What the hell,” he says with a shrug before he steps up onto a platform too.
“Okay…” the girl in yellow whispers out as she and Kimberly simultaneously agree before walking to their own.
I start to walk over to the last one between Kimberly and y/n as the girl in yellow and Kimberly step up onto theirs. As I make it about halfway, y/n smiles at me and nods.
“Why do you keep looking at each other? Is that, like, a human thing? Fascinating,” Alpha 5 asks as Kimberly and the girl in yellow keep eye contact the whole time they step up.
The girl in yellow takes one last deep breath before both her and Kimberly nod to each other. Y/n finally fully steps up onto hers as I slowly reach mine. She watches me with a smile and I look at her one last time for confirmation that I should do it.
She nods at me and with one last deep breath, I step up onto mine. As soon as I do, there’s an explosion of light that starts from the middle and works its way out around all of us. At first we all jump to cover our faces, but we quickly adjust to the light and lower our arms.
“Oh, it’s working! This is great! It’s working!” Alpha 5 shouts out in excitement as he dances around and I hear y/n let out a giggle.
There’s a surge of power and the whole room starts to shake as the wall behind me seems to start moving. We all instantly crouch to the floor and reach for anything to stable ourselves as the shaking continues. Instantly, I look over at y/n to make sure she’s ok, but her eyes are wide.
At first I think she’s looking at me, but I quickly realize her eyes are trained behind me. I turn around and my own eyes widen when I see the clear outline of a face coming out of the wall.
“Zordon, are you there? Zordon!” Alpha 5 yells out as he walks closer to the wall.
The head coming from the wall speaks a weird alien language as it seems to be looking around frantically. Alpha 5 talks back to it with wild arm motions in the same language. They have a conversation in the language for a few minutes as we all continue to try and get grounded from the continual shaking.
“Okay, okay,” I whisper out as I take a quick look back at the face before turning to look at y/n again.
I quickly jump off the pedestal and rush over to the girl in yellow. Out of the corner of my eye, I catch y/n jump off after me and rush over as I pull the girl in yellow up off of hers. Y/n grabs my hand and I pull her with me.
“Come on,” I tell her as we start to run off.
I feel a tug on my arm and turn back to see y/n. She’s looking at Billy, who seems to be frozen on the ground still.
“Jay. He’s in shock,” she tells me and I nod.
“Go with the others. I’ve got him,” I tell her as I pull her around in front of me and push her lightly towards Kimberly.
“Come on! Let’s go! Move!” I yell as I grip onto Billy and pull him up, snapping him out of his shock.
I run towards the group with Billy hot on my heels and y/n holds her hand out to me when I get closer. Together we all run back up the steps and towards the door, but come to a stop when the door closes us in. Billy knocks on it and the head in the wall keeps talking in the alien language.
“Still think it was a good idea to investigate, J?” Y/n sarcastically asks, rolling her eyes.
“So not the time, sweetheart,” I whisper back and she just shrugs.
I feel y/n squeeze my hand and I squeeze hers back as we all slowly realize we’re not leaving. We all stand there, breathing hard for a few minutes before finally Alpha 5 speaks up.
“Come forward, please?!” he yells out to us and Kimberly sighs.
youtube
“Do we have a choice?” she asks in irritation and again I feel y/n squeeze my hand.
“Don’t think so,” I hesitantly reply with a sigh as I squeeze y/n’s hand back again.
Alpha 5 says something else in the alien language as we all slowly turn around. We slowly walk back down the stairs.
“Look! It’s Zordon!” Alpha 5 shouts as we start down the stairs. “Zordon, they don’t know who you are,” Alpha 5 states as he turns back to the head in the wall and we get about halfway down the stairs.
“Come in! Come in!” he again shouts as he turns back to us and motions us to him.
“These are them? They’re so small, especially the one next to red,” Zordon seems to observe and I feel y/n sink back a bit.
Once again, I squeeze her hand and she looks up to me. I give her a small nudge like I normally do when she gets insecure about her height. I mean, she’s not overly short, just a little shorter than me and maybe a little bit shorter than Billy. It’s just something she gets insecure of sometimes, but she knows she’s not as short as people make her believe. I’ve had to remind her many times that she’s the perfect height and not to worry about what others say, but sometimes I know she definitely still thinks about it.
“Funny, I said the same thing, actually,” Alpha 5 agrees with the head in the wall.
“You mean to tell me that the fate of the universe is placed in the hands of these— these children?” Zordon asks as he turns to look at all of us before moving farther down the wall.
“The universe? That’s a big place,” Billy mumbles to himself and I see y/n smile softly at him when he catches her watching him.
“They’re teenagers! Somewhere between infancy and full maturity. It’s hard to explain, really. I don’t—” Alpha 5 starts to explain, but Zordon cuts him off.
“Show me the coins,” Zordon demands before again sliding across the wall to me, y/n and Billy.
I reach down, pulling my coin out as does y/n and Billy. Together, we all hold them up to Zordon.
“The morphing grid is never wrong. If the power coins have returned to the ship with these…” Zordon starts, but pauses.
“Teenagers!” Alpha 5 shouts, filling it in for him.
“With these teenagers,” Zordon repeats in annoyance.
“Then these teenagers are the power rangers,” Zordon says doubtfully as he clearly rolls his eyes.
“Power rangers!” Alpha 5 exclaims as he puts his head down and does a victory motion with his arms.
I put my coin away in my pocket as Billy claps in excitement. I let out a chortle and shake my head in amusement at his excitement. Y/n lets out a small giggle as she also shakes her head, a small smile gracing her face.
“What?” The girl in yellow whispers out as she looks at Kimberly.
“Okay, quick question,” Zack is the first to speak up as he steps back up onto the ramp of his pedestal.
“Hello. Hate to interrupt. Did I just hear you say we’re power rangers?” Zack continues as he fully stops at the end of his pedestal.
“Yes,” Zordon starts before once again he’s sliding down the wall to look at Zack.
“Yes. You are the power rangers. Any other questions?” Zordon confirms what he said as he stops.
“No, I think I’m good,” Zack tells him and Zordon replies with a firm ‘good.’
“I got a question,” Billy quickly thinks out loud.
“Um… hi, how, you doing?” Billy speaks as he raises his hand before stepping off his pedestal as Zordon slides across the wall again.
I turn to look over my left shoulder at him and y/n turns over her right. I then quickly spin back around as he stops behind me to look up at Zordon. I look back at y/n, who now has her arms crossed and she gives me a shrug.
“Oh, okay— um, my name is Billy. Billy Cranston. Kids used to call me billy crams-tons—” Billy starts to ramble and I feel y/n nudge me with her shoulder.
“Billy!” I call out to him and he turns to look at me and y/n.
“Stop,” I tell him in a whisper as I hold my hand out.
“I’m sorry,” he whispers to me before turning back to Zordon.
“Uh… the images here in this sphere tell a history of the power rangers. Looks like the power rangers were a team that protected life,” Billy explains as he looks at the glowing center between all the pedestals, making us all look at it with him.
I hear a small gasp and look down at y/n to see awe on her face. I chuckle lightly before squeezing her hand, making her look at me. She gives me a tight-lipped smile before looking back at the moving colors.
“And life is a bright light. Or a piece of light?” Billy finally asks his question before turning back to look at Zordon.
“Yes. Yes, very good, Billy,” Zordon praises and we all turn to look at Zordon.
“It is called the Zeo Crystal,” Zordon starts to explain, taking a pause.
“Oh, I love this part. This is good,” Alpha 5 exclaims as he leans back in excitement before standing straight and walking closer to the glowing center.
“And every planet in the universe that has life has a piece of the crystal inside it,” Zordon continues to explain as we all look back into the glowing center.
“Sixty-five million years ago, Zordon’s Team died defending the crystal here in what is now Angel Grove,” Alpha 5 adds on as he points up at Zordon, then back at the center.
“The coins have chosen you five,” Zordon proclaims and I feel y/n squeeze my hand again, making me well aware that her fear is rising even more, so I squeeze hers back.
“Yes! I knew it!” Alpha 5 yells out as he fist bumps the air.
“Now you must protect the Zeo Crystal and life on earth,” Zordon tells us and I arch an eyebrow.
“Because… we… are the power rangers?” I ask in confusion and alpha 5 turns to Zordon.
“He’s smart!” Alpha 5 exclaims and y/n lets out a breathy giggle, making me look down at her. She shrugs, trying to hide a massive grin.
“Well, he’s not wrong…” she whispers out to me, wiggling her eyebrows at me and I shake my head, trying not to laugh.
Kimberly’s scoff pulls us both out of our little moment and we both turn to watch as she takes a step forward. She raises her hand, but puts it right back down.
“I’m sorry, um, is this some kind of joke?” she asks and out of the corner of my eye, I see y/n roll her eyes.
“Like, I’m standing here with a wet wedgie. My socks are soaked. We’re squishing around in here. We’re talking to a wall! I mean, guys… ” Kimberly starts to freak out a little bit and again, y/n rolls her eyes.
“Silence!” Zordon yells out and suddenly the whole room is a bright white.
We all go flying off our feet and I try to keep a grasp on y/n’s hand, but somehow we lose each other's hold. I freak out a moment, trying to locate her before I’m suddenly waking up on the couch of the living room of my house. I blink and for a split moment it’s utter quiet.
I sit up and look around, confused and feeling an absolute dread falling over me. It stays quiet, but I find myself getting up and walking to the front door that’s slightly ajar. It creaks as the air gently pushes it and I reach down to the handle.
I pull it open and find myself in downtown Angel Grove as I walk out the door. I find myself in the middle of the road, but everything seems desolate and eerily quiet.
“Dig! Dig, Goldar!” I hear a whisper that makes me turn to look behind me, but nothing is there, just road and more Angel Grove.
I turn back around and just as I do, there seems to be some explosion in front of me. There’s a green light and smoke before suddenly everything changes. It’s now all gray and people are screaming.
I look to the side and see what seems to be statues of frozen people. I realize they’re all people I know, like dozens of statues before suddenly there’s a person in green right in my face. I move back a bit, but she stays there.
Suddenly she starts making ragged breathing noises and it feels like all the air is being taken from my lungs. Pain is all I feel for a few minutes and she reaches out for me. I then push myself back and my arms hit the statues, making them dissolve into dust.
Then before I know it, I’m back in the ship and falling to the ground. We all fall to the ground and I let out a few coughs as my mind tries to come back. I hear another groan that pulls me out of my own pain and I turn to find y/n laying on her stomach.
She groans as she moves to her back and I slowly slide over to her. I look at her for a moment, silently asking if she’s ok. She lets a tear roll down her cheek before nodding slowly. I sigh and lay my head back on the ground.
I feel her hand come closer and grip onto mine. I grip onto hers right back as we both still try to recover from the blow of the landing.
“Sir. I’m detecting elevated heart rates. They’re— they’re very scared,” Alpha 5 observes and I roll over, trying to get up.
“I don’t understand,” I say as I am finally able to stand back up.
“Why would you show us that nightmare?” I ask as I start walking over to Zordon.
Y/n reaches out to me, but pulls her hand back with a hiss before just letting me go.
“It’s not a nightmare. It’s the future,” Zordon answers as all the others stand now too.
“Was that for real?” Kimberly quietly and breathlessly asks as she looks at the girl in yellow.
“Felt like it,” the girl in yellow tells her.
“And who was that woman?” I ask just before coming to a stop.
“Sir? I believe Orange has a broken rib,” Alpha 5 interrupts, making us all turn to see him looking at y/n.
I see y/n still on the ground and my heart leaps into my chest as I rush back over to her. She groans as I quickly pull her into a seated position.
“My bad. I didn’t realize she’d fall on her stomach. She should heal fine, but Alpha, give her a scan just to be sure,” Zordon tells Alpha 5, who nods before walking over to y/n, but I stop him, holding out a hand.
“She’s not going anywhere without me,” I say in a threatening tone and Alpha 5 shakes his head as he flicks his wrist.
“No need. I can do the scan right here,” he tells me and with a little nod, I let him continue over to us.
He scans her and she lets out a few coughs, but nonetheless seems absolutely fine. Once he’s done scanning her, he looks at her.
“You should be 100% healed, in… I’d say an hour tops,” Alpha 5 tells her and she nods, even though her face shows pure shock.
“Wanna stand?” I ask her and she hesitantly nods before grabbing onto the hand I have held out to her.
I gently help her stand and as we do, she keeps a death-like grip on my hand. Once fully standing, she grimaces for a moment before nodding at me. I keep a hold of her and like she reads my mind, walks with me back over to Zordon.
“Ok. You were saying?” I ask as I look back up to Zordon.
“Her name is Rita Repulsa. She will create Goldar, a huge monster who will rip the crystal from the earth, and all life on your planet will die. With the Crystal, Rita will have the power to create and destroy worlds,” Zordon explains and y/n lets out a breath of shock.
“Wow, way to scare us into being these… power rangers,” y/n sarcastically says with a roll of her eyes.
“So, let me guess. You want us to kill this woman? R— Rita?” The girl in yellow asks and I turn back to look at her.
“Ay, ay, ay! Rita,” Alpha 5 corrects her as he puts his hands to his head like he’s pinching his nose in disapproval.
“She must be stopped,” Zordon adds in a solemn tone and I feel y/n shiver lightly.
“When is she coming?” Kimberly asks, looking at Zordon with a look of disbelief.
“She’s already here. My best guess is we have 11 months. Oh, I’m sorry, days. Days, 11 days,” Alpha 5 changes his estimate as he flings his hands up, then back down.
“If we’re the Power Rangers and this is our ship, if I walk through that door right now, will it open for me?” The girl in yellow asks in a scarcely even tone after she huffs.
“Yes, of course,” Zordon answers without hesitation and I turn to look at her.
“Let’s go,” the girl in yellow says before her and Kimberly turn and start to run.
“Whoa. What are you doing? No, no, no come back!” Alpha 5 shouts, reaching out as all of the others except me and y/n run out of the room.
I look at Zordon before taking a step back and starting to walk away. Y/n follows, still keeping a hold of my hand as we walk back to the stairs.
“No, no, please don’t leave,” Alpha 5 begs us as he takes a few steps behind us.
“Jason, my ranger team died defending the crystal from Rita. That’s why I’m in this wall,” Zordon appeals to me and I turn back to him.
“How’d you know my name?” I ask him as I look up at him.
“Because it’s you, Jason Scott. You are the leader. You are the Red Ranger,” Zordon tells me and the light behind us changes, making me turn to look at it.
I watch in awe as the red ranger in the middle does a cool spin-around move. It then changes to the green ranger.
“Rita was a ranger, too. And my friend. But she betrayed us. Wanted more power. She lost her way. Now she is just pure evil,”  Zordon explains as I watch the green ranger in the center before turning to him again.
“But nobody’s pure evil. Did you try appealing to her? Maybe reminding her of what you guys once were?” Y/n asks as she turns to him and Zordon sighs, giving her a sad look.
“We tried everything we could think of. Still, she let the power go right to her head,” he tells y/n with a sigh and I turn back to the glowing force.
“That’s so sad…” y/n tells him and Zordon gives a hum of agreement.
“Believe me. I would have done anything and everything to save Rita,” he tells her and she sniffles, but I know she’s holding her tears back even without having to look at her.
“You must bring them back. All of the rangers. You must train your team to stop Rita before she has the strength to find the crystal,” Zordon urges me and I shake my head.
“Okay. We’re leaving,” I reply as I put my hands up before starting to back away.
“And I only speak for myself and this one here—” I start as I point to y/n.
“No! You speak for all of them. You know that deep down what I’m saying is true. You were born for this,” Zordon says and I stop halfway to look back at him.
“Y/n, you comin?” I ask her when I realize she’s not walking with me.
She keeps her stare up at Zordon and he gives her a look that I can’t exactly read cause he’s a wall. She nods at him before turning slowly to me and grabbing my hand. She looks up at me and I smile softly at her before grabbing her hand.
Together, we walk out of the main room and down the first few halls we were first in. Soon before we know it, we’re back in the cave headed towards the water that brought us here.

Faithie's Fic writing Question's Corner:
Ok Jason Lee Scott fans I need your help!!!
I’ve looked everywhere I could possibly find it and I can’t find it anywhere at all.
How old are we saying Jason is during the movie? (2017 version…) I mean I’ve always thought he was in his senior year and that would probably make him around 17-19ish… but I wanted it confirmed for what I’m doing, but I have absolutely no freaking clue.
HELP me!!!

Forever is the sweetest con - G. GRAVES
Tumblr media
(Guys please tell me how I can do this better I’ve never written fanfiction before and this is so bad 😭 GN reader)
Gideon Graves had always been an enigma to you. From the moment he strutted into your life with his confident strides you knew he would cloud your every waking moment. You had met him working as a bartender at the Chaos Theater. You only took the job to pay for college. Gideon had approached you one night as you were working. He had spat off a comment about your hair or outfit. You replied with something wittingly cliche. You ended up chatting with him for a bit that night. You couldn’t stand his snarky attitude or his sarcastic remarks. This of course was overshadowed by the way he said your name and the way he looked at you as if you were the only person in the world. He could make you feel totally alone in a room full of people yet in private assure you he loved you. He was controlling and tried to hold you down and you let him because you didn’t want to lose him. You were absolutely in love with him.
Towards the end there was a lot of arguing and things got very heated very quick between you. Most arguments ended with him leaving all night and you sobbing yourself to sleep on your pillow. He overworked himself and any attempt to help him was immediately blocked with blind aggression. He would be out all night and come home at 5-6 AM most nights. He got nearly an hour of sleep a night and even the “sleeping” was really just him tossing around the bed quietly weeping. You knew something had to happen so you took action. Dragging him home most nights. But eventually what was once him coming home late turned into him not coming home at all. You would wait by the phone all night, desperately praying for a call all night. This particular night you had called his office to make sure he was okay. He snapped at you, screaming and insulting you. He had threatened leaving you before but his attempts were typically shut down by your desperately pained cries and begging. This night however he paid no mind to your desperate attempts to coerce him into letting you continue to love him. He simply excused his leaving by stating that with the newfound success of G-man media he just didn’t have time for a relationship. You were absolutely devastated. You cried for days, not leaving your house and sobbing till you threw up. You had no idea how to live without him in your life.
But now here you are curled up on your loveseat with a glass of tea listening to the little radio sat on the coffee table as you wrote. Your world surprisingly didn’t end after Gideon had left you even though it felt like it. You stayed in Toronto, you made new friends and finished college. You didn’t know what Gideon was up to now, out of sight out of mind you thought. You had garnered a pretty positive reputation amongst readers all over Canada. You wrote for a small magazine company owned by one of your old college professors you had gotten along particularly well with, viewing her as a mother figure of the sort. You listen to the rain pounding against the window. You always loved the rain. You hopped out of your seat and decided to grab your coat before going out onto the porch with your tea.
You sat on the porch whilst the howling wind beat against your body. You closed your eyes and breathed in as your hair filled with raindrops. You gazed up at the sky, examining the stars. You glanced back dow towards the road when you noticed a figure walking. You tense up and look away from the figure. You had become nervous knowing what type of person would be out wandering the streets at this hour. The person seemed to notice you as you noticed them and as you glanced into their sunken eyes you realized who it was and a familiar feeling of dread filled your core.
“Gideon?” You breathed out, hands now beginning to shake and eyes welling up with tears. “Hey listen, before you run off I really need to talk to you” He spoke shakily. Upon looking at him further you noticed the tears threatening to spill from his eyes and the tears on his clothes, he looked like he had been beaten.“I have no interest in talking to you now Gideon, not now not ever. You really fucked me up” You said with your voice breaking due to the tears breaking through and dripping down your chin. You started into the house when Gideon grabbed your wrists. You stared into his eyes and for a second you could’ve sworn the rain stopped. “Listen to me please, the way I treated you was sick and really fucked up and I’m sorry” You were a little shocked at his sudden repentance. You never expected this, especially from Gideon. “I lost everything, the company, my money, my whole empire is all gone. I spent the last of my money on a ticket to get up here just to see the one person I ever truly cared about and hope to see a pair of kind eyes looking back at me. I truly have nothing and I just want you” When he said this the tears started to pour down his face and he immediately broke down sobbing.
You didn’t know what to do so in this moment you decided actions spoke louder than words. You wrapped you arms around his neck and pulled him down so your faces were practically touching and you just held him as he sobbed. Just you alone with him in the rain with the stars shining down on you.

WOOF WOOF BARK I need him so badddddddd :(
I feel silly posting this but I need to express my feelings I don’t care. I wanna give him head, that sounds so bad considering he’s nearly 2 decades older than me but um who really cares?
I watched Scott pilgrim last night and when I realised it was Jason playing that stupid little emo Gideon I DIED. My last 2 hours have been spent watching edits of Jason, I printed out photos of him and stuck them on my wall, I watched 1 hours worth of interviews just for him. And in all honesty..the reason I saw the new hunger games was because he was in it.. don’t tell anybody.
Also his hands are really hot. Usually hair on men’s hands make me feel gross, but Jason? I want them is inside me. WOAH WHO SAID THAT??!

Y/N: *Picks up a picture frame* “So... this is your uncle Billy?”
Jason: “Yeah. It is. My aunt Max says I look exactly like him.
Y/N: “She’s right. You do look like him.”
Jason: “But I’m more handsome, right?”
Y/N: *Smiles and kisses him* “You sure are, Stud.”

His Assistant
Tumblr media
Chapter 2:
Gideon had awoken bright and early the next morning, shutting off his alarm clock and getting out of bed. He had no problems waking up feeling well rested as he always made it a point to get a good night's sleep. Gideon’s legs dangled over the side of the bed, his hair surprisingly a ruffled mess. He reached over to his bedside table and grabbed his thick square black glasses, holding them down to the hem of his pajama shirt. He wiped off his glasses quickly, placing them on his face afterwards.
Gideon slipped off the bed, his feet hitting the floor with a light thud. He raised his arms above his head, stretching for a moment. He was wearing a silk red matching pajama set. The fabric just above his heart had been embroidered with his initials ‘GG’. His pajamas certainly weren't cheap and he had them custom tailored.
Gideon grumbled lowly, walking towards his closet to pick out his outfit for the day. He opened the doors, scanning over the options he had hung up. He pulled out his black button up and a matching set of gray pants and blazer. He grabbed the hangers carefully, heading off with the clothes towards his living room in his large mansion.
He approached his cleaning lady, giving her careful instructions to iron his clothes while he showered, which she understood as it was a routine they had built every morning. He headed off to his bathroom, and turned on the shower. While he waited for the steam to build he slipped off his clothes, unbuttoning his pajama top and sliding it off his arms. Next came his pants, slipping them off and after his boxers. He kept a hamper in his large bathroom, throwing his dirty clothes in there to be cleaned that day.
His feet tracked across the bathroom tiles, standing in front of the shower and then stepping in. He closed the glass door to the shower, trapping in the hot air. He ran his hands through his hair, the water hitting his back. Gideon let out a deep breath, his muscles relaxing under the hot water. After a few minutes he grabbed his cloth, wetting it before he lathered his body wash onto it. He had a multiple step shower process, he knew how important it was to be well groomed as he needed to keep up his good appearance.
Gideon cleaned off his body, scrubbing every inch. The water mixes with the soap and rinsing off any last speck of it left. Once that task was done he got a handful of shampoo, scrubbing it into his scalp. He massaged his head for a few minutes, making sure to cover all of his hair. He would proceed to rinse his hair, getting all of the shampoo out before doing the same process with the conditioner.
After an hour or so in the shower Gideon was finally ready to get out, grabbing his towel and drying himself off. He shook himself dry, his hair flicking off any drops of water. He wrapped the towel around his waist, stepping out of the shower and into his living room. He noticed the cleaning lady had finished the task he had given so he grabbed his freshly pressed clothes and headed back to his bedroom with them.
Gideon tossed the towel off and aside, it landed into a hamper. He slipped on his boxers before pulling up his pants, this whole process was just incredibly tedious but it had to look good always. He buttoned up his shirt, tucking it into the pants before slipping his blazer on. He grabbed a belt from his closet, putting it on and tightening it. He then bent down, grabbing his socks and rolling them up past his ankles.
He grabbed his phone from the nightstand, stepping out of his room and back towards the living room. After what seemed like an eternity his morning routine was finally complete, his hair combed and the rest of himself cleaned and he had applied cologne. His limo had already pulled up front, waiting patiently on him.
He walked out the front door, locking it behind him. He stepped to the limo, his driver opening the door for him. Without a word he climbed in, already seeming agitated despite how early it was. The driver got in on the correct side, starting up the car. “Good morning, Mr. Graves.” The man spoke cheerfully, which Gideon could only hear as a thin piece of wood separating them.
“Shut up and drive.” He ordered harshly, what was it that made him so irritated all the time? It certainly wasn't a way to live. Gideon settled himself in his seat, buckling his seatbelt as the driver took off and towards Gideon’s company headquarters.
____________________
A loud sound could be heard, it was blaring and it started you awake. Your body jolted upwards, looking over to read the time. You were half asleep, your mind not registering that you had to get up and get ready for work. You snooze your alarm, burying yourself back underneath the covers for a few moments more.
Suddenly, it dawned on you. You weren't working a boring customer service job anymore, you couldn't afford to be late. It took a moment for your mind to process this, but you thought long and hard about it. You seemed to remember you got a new position but just couldn't place your finger on what it was.
Gideon…Graves?
Your mind repeated his name over and over again, trying to remember why exactly he stuck out in your head. You rubbed your eyes, trying to keep them open. As you started to think harder your mind recollected little fragments of what you were thinking of. You have been selected…. personal assistant..7am.
You threw the comforter off your body, knowing that even if you didn't want to go to work you had to. Gideon had always been your boss but now that you were his assistant you'd have to spend your whole work day putting up with him.
You hopped out of bed, stepping over to your closet and rummaging through your outfit choices. You had no idea what to wear, typically your outfits weren't super important but you felt as though you had to look good for your boss.
Your eyes eventually landed on something, a black pencil dress with a square neckline. You were thankful to have found something appropriate, typically you weren't much of a dress person but there wasn't much else to choose from. You grabbed the dress, running towards your shower and rushing to get in. You still had about an hour to get ready but you had more things you needed to take care of today.
You showered in about 20 minutes, getting out and quickly slipping into your undergarments. After a moment you pulled the dress up, zipping up the back of it. You let out a sigh of relief, checking the clock to see that you still had plenty of time. Your adrenaline was causing you to act irrationally, but now that you had calmed down you would take the time you needed to finish.
You brushed your teeth and then combed your hair, deciding you'd leave it down today. You went through your jewelry box, pulling out a pair of red heart shaped jewel earrings. You put them on, they dangled slightly but not enough to be noticable. They weren't real crystals or rubies but cheap replicas because that's what you could afford.
You headed back into your bedroom, sitting at your desk and pulling out your makeup. You applied all of the necessary products, giving yourself a glance over in the mirror. You were pretty proud of yourself, you looked great.
You headed back next to your bed after putting up your makeup, grabbing your phone and heading towards your living room. You quickly called the cab service, waiting for the driver to arrive at your house. You checked your phone as you waited, mentally zoning out for a moment.
The cab arrived, honking its horn which pulled you out of your trance. You grabbed your purse and jacket, stepping out and hopping into the vehicle.
_________________
Yet again you were face to face with the large building, peering up at the logo for the millionth time. You took a deep breath, moving to approach the doors. Suddenly Gideon appeared in front of you, walking up to the doors at the same time. He turned his head, noticing you behind him. He rolled his eyes, deciding he may as well be pleasant.
He waited up for you, holding open the door in such a kind gesture which was foreign to him. When you saw him waiting and holding it open for you your heart skipped a beat, sure this was a common thing for most people but for Gideon? That was strange.
“Thank you.” You told him as you walked in, knowing you needed to wait up for him anyways. Gideon went in right behind you, keeping his distance but his gaze didn't leave you. He seemed frustrated as per usual, but his eyes were roaming over your body which you were oblivious to.
You looked back at him once more, “Mr. Graves. Will you show me to my new office?” You asked a bit nervously, hoping you hadn't pressed too far. He reluctantly agreed, these sorts of things were below him but he knew no one else would do it if he didn't.
“Follow me.” He insisted, his voice low and cold. He stepped in front of you, relying on you trailing behind him. You both headed towards the elevator, once you were both awkwardly inside he pressed the button to the seventh floor which you had only been on once before.
You continued to notice him sneaking glances at you during the silent ride up, but you couldn't make out what he was thinking. The silence was suddenly broken by the sound of your voice, seemingly catching Gideon off guard. “Thank you for the job, sir.” You truly did sound grateful, this was a wonderful opportunity for you.
“Don't thank me yet, who knows how long you'll last.” Gideon snarled, he sounded almost as though he was threatening you. His assistants never lasted long, maybe a few months at best He was extremely picky, most assistants gave it their all during those months and their work ethic slowly slipped which had always made Gideon decide it was time for a new assistant.
You didn't respond to that, only nodding your head. <em> What did he mean? <em> Your hands folded in your lap, this felt so awkward, being crammed in this tiny elevator with your boss. Your shoulders brushed against one another, sending a chill down your spine.
The silence was unbearable. Before you could speak up again the elevator dinged, signaling it was time for you both to get off. He stepped out first, stopping for a brief moment for you to catch up with him. “I don't have all day, come on.” He insisted, you were too slow getting out and that angered him.
You stepped out, following close behind him towards your new office space. You had expected a cubicle, or maybe even a small desk inside of Gideon’s office but that was not the case. He led you towards his office, another one on the other side connecting them. There was no way to enter the other from the inside but the walls were connected.
He stepped up to the door of the conjoining office, unlocking it and opening the door. This time he waited for you, letting you in first. “Here, you're to remain in this room unless I ask you to leave or it's your break.” He sounded so stern, staring down at you intensely. He paused for a beat, not hearing you respond so he decided to speak once more. “I expect you to be here by 7am everyday, and I may occasionally ask you to run out and get me coffee or lunch. You will hand me a daily report of all your work at the end of the day. Do you understand?” He raised his brow, questioning you as if you were incompetent.
You nodded your head slowly, your eyes scanning over the plain office. You were certainly going to liven the place up somehow. “I understand, sir.” You stepped away from him and towards the desk that you would now call yours. Running your fingers across the wooden surface. He watched your every move curiously, his hands buried in his pockets. “Right, now get to work. If you need me you know where to find me.” He snapped, wanting to get out of here. He couldn't bear being near you, and he couldn't understand why. He hated plenty of people but you were different, he couldn't tell if he hated you or not.
_______________
Gideon exited the room, shutting the door behind him. He stepped into his office, the door clicking shut. He sat at his desk, lifting his glasses ontop of his head. He rubbed his eyes tiredly, letting out a small yawn. He should've asked you to get coffee on your way here. He was so stressed out, he prayed you wouldn't be a total loss. He needed to find someone who could do the job he required.
His mind was racing, his head buried in his hands. Why was he like this? What was going through his mind? He leaned back in his chair, taking a deep breath. He put his glasses back on and booted up his computer, logging into it and then beginning his work for the day.
He furiously typed away at his computer nearly all day, only taking small breaks every now and again. He hadn't thought about you in hours, but when he suddenly stopped he was reminded of you. Gideon wondered what you must've been doing right now, were you actually working?
Gideon stood from his desk, remembering something he had installed in his office years and years ago. He stepped forward towards a picture of himself, lifting the frame off the wall. He sat it down carefully, then pressing himself up against it. There was a small hole in the wall, allowing him access to see what you were doing.
He hadn't used this hole since he first installed it, only having used it a couple of times to spy on his first assistant as he didn't trust her. He knew this should've been covered up and that it was wrong, but he couldn't let you know he actually cared enough to check on you. This was a discreet way to go about it.
Gideon peered through the hole, his gaze landing on you at your desk. You sat there, the rotary phone in your hand. You were dealing with a call some other business man had about setting up a meeting with Gideon. He couldn't make out the words you were saying very well, but he didn't care about that.
He let out a hum in content, he was about to pull away when he saw you shift your position slightly. Your gaze had been straight at the wall, but you couldn't see his eye peering through. Gideon’s breath caught in his chest, a feeling spreading through his body. His eyes roamed over your face, falling on your lips.
Those lips..
He tried to pull himself away, but he continued to gaze hungrily at you. What was wrong with him? He clearly disliked you, right? Maybe he just thought of you as another woman who would kneel at his feet if he desired. Yeah..that was it. He definitely viewed you as a potential quick lay and nothing more. That eased his mind, tricking himself into ignoring his arising feelings.
Gideon felt a bead of sweat across his forehead, he was in a trance due to your beauty. Gideon quickly snapped out of it, cursing to himself under his breath. He pulled away from the hole, covering it up quickly. “She's not even that cute.” He scoffed, assuring himself there was nothing more going on.
He checked the time, seeing that it was his lunch hour. He stepped out of his office for the first time since this morning, having already decided what he wanted for lunch. He walked into your office abruptly, not knocking beforehand. He gazed harshly at you from where he stood at the doorway. He had to put up a front to hide what he had just been doing. “Go to the nearest steakhouse and order me a filet mignon, medium-well.” He ordered, putting his hands in his pocket.
Gideon pulled out his wallet, stepping in front of your desk. He opened it, pulling out his credit card and handing it to you. “You can get yourself something too. Don't pick something too pricey, I'm not a charity fund.” He scoffed, watching carefully as you took the black card in your hand. Your eyes scanned over it, it felt odd holding such an item.
“Yes, sir. I just have one last thing to finish up and then I'll go grab it.” You smiled up at him the best you could, placing the card down on the desk. He raised his brow, but decided not to question it. He left your office and headed back into his office to continue his work while he waited for his food.
You finished up your last piece of work, grabbing the card as well as your phone and purse. You were unsure about spending his money on yourself, deciding it'd be better to pay separately.
You called a cab once you got down to the first floor after taking the elevator down. Getting in the car and telling the driver the address of the place.
_____________
You arrived at the Steakhouse shortly, clutching your purse as you stepped inside. You headed up to the hostess, talking to her briefly. You wouldn't be dining in and just wanted to get the food to go.
“I need one order of filet mignon, cooked medium well with a baked potato as the side. I also need an order of 6 chicken tenders and french fries.” You told the hostess, she placed the order and you sat down to wait for the food.
It didn't take long at all, before you knew a bag was being carried out and handed to you. You took the bag, standing up and pulling out the little black card as well as yours to pay for the meal. You paid separately as you had planned, placing the receipt inside the bag.
__________
You were back at your office before you knew it, taking your food inside first. You removed your food and receipt from the bag, setting it down on your desk. You grabbed the bag and hauled it over to Gideon’s office, knocking on his door.
Gideon was suddenly snapped out of his work, his ears ringing briefly as he identified the knocking sound. “Come in!” He yelled towards the door, in a familiar tone he always used. You stepped inside, holding up the bag for him to see.
He looked pleased, waiting for you to bring it up to him. You stepped forward, placing the bag on his desk. You pulled out his card as well, returning it to him.
He smirked, glad you hadn't forgotten you still had his card. “You're dismissed.” He waved his hand, rudely telling you to leave him at once. You were a bit shocked but complied, leaving him to head back into your office to eat your food.
As he was satisfied with your exit he looked down at the bag, reaching towards it. He pulled the styrofoam box out, the receipt slipping on the floor. He watched it hit the ground, scooting his chair back to pick it up. He held the paper in his hand, reading over it carefully.
His expression quickly soured, not because of the price but because he saw the lack of an extra dish. He told you to buy yourself something with his card, the disobedience you displayed frustrated him for some reason. If anything he should be grateful you didn't want to use his money but for some reason a part inside of him was boiling.
He gritted his teeth, tossing the thin paper into the trash. What an ungrateful brat. He thought to himself, why was he so fixated on you? That was something even he couldn't figure out, his emotions towards you were an utter mess. He ate his lunch absentmindedly, barely able to enjoy the taste as his mind was full of you. You were so frustratingly considerate, purposely not using his card for yourself because you felt bad. He didn't know what was going on inside of himself but he needed the feeling to dull down, he couldn't focus with you weighing on his mind.
____________
Before you both knew it nightfall came, reminding the both of you that it was time to exit and head home. You checked the weather forecast, seeing that it was raining out. You panicked momentarily, realizing yoy hadn't brought an umbrella with you. Shit. You groaned, knowing you'd get soaked once you stepped outside.
You stood up from your desk, pulling your jacket on and over you. It didn't have a hood which only made this all the more worse. You headed out of your office, shutting off the light and locking the door. You headed down stairs, the elevator working a lot quicker than usual.
You stepped outside of the building and into the pouring rain, your clothes getting drenched in seconds. You crossed the street, sitting down under a covered area. You pulled out your phone, attempting to dial the cab company.
Suddenly Gideon stepped outside of the building, an umbrella over him, shielding him from the rain. He looked around, seeing you across the street. He groaned, cursing to himself under his breath. He didn't want to see you now, especially not like this. He felt bad for you, seeing you sitting all by yourself in the pouring rain.
His better judgement was starting to get the best of him, his moral compass working overtime. He would regret this. He crossed the street, standing over you within seconds. He heard his limo pull up, the driver waiting for him as he looked down on you. He grumbled, taking a minute to spit out his words
“Do you need a ride home?” He snapped, his tone harsh to cover up the fact that he actually cared. You looked up at him, unable to comprehend his question. <em> Did he really ask me that? <em> You looked up at him, taking a moment to consider his question. “I..If you're willing to, then yes.” You replied, feeling suddenly nervous.
He nodded, waiting for you to stand up. He turned towards his limo, letting you stand under his umbrella to avoid getting any more wet. Your jaw dropped at the signt of the limo, not having expected to ever ride in one. This expression did not get past Gideon, he snickered to himself and led you towards the vehicle. His hand finding the small of your back, the feeling was almost electric.
He opened the car door for you, allowing you to slide in first. He closed the umbrella, sliding in after you and shutting the door. You told the driver your address, looking around the car in awe. You sat as far away from your boss as possible, not purposely. Gideon didn't care though, but he had to do his best not to stare at you.
You turned to look at him, noticing his unbothered demeanor. “Thank you so much, Mr. Graves. Is there a way I can repay you?” You asked hesitantly, but you were so eager to make it up to him that he found it adorable.
Gideon sighed, looking at your face. He grinned, that condescending look on his face. “Just do your job, that's it.” He answered, his tone stern and unrelenting. He looked away from you, resting his hand on his chin. He ignored you the rest of the way to your house, only speaking up again to tell you bye when he dropped you off.
___________
You shuffled into your house, going to your bedroom and shucking off your clothes. You changed into some pajamas, going into the bathroom and taking off your makeup and jewlery.
Once that task was done you plopped onto the bed, wrapping yourself up in the blanket like a cocoon. You fell asleep almost immediately, exhausted from the long day of work.
Gideon got to his mansion, heading into the large singular person house. He threw off his blazer as he entered his bedroom, removing the rest of the clothes with his blazer. He stood bare in nothing but his boxers, rummaging through his options of silk pajamas.
Ultimately he settled on a light blue set, which he put on quickly. He climbed into his luxurious bed, covering himself with a thin shit as his blanket. He removed his glasses, setting them on his night stand. He laid on his back, his eyes gazing up at the ceiling. He was exhausted but his mind wouldn't let him rest, he couldn't stop thinking about you. Why? Why were you so appealing to him? He just couldn't understand. Sure you were good looking but that wasn't enough for him to justify the way he felt.
He groaned, rubbing his eyes and trying to fall asleep. His mind was flooded with moments of you from the day, how gorgeous you looked in that tight dress. He definitely wanted to see more of it. His mind kept reminding himself of how the skirt hugged your ass, showing it off perfectly.
He was beginning to feel aroused, quickly snapping himself out of this trance. He shut his eyes again, finally drifting off to sleep after a long unsuccessful attempt to.

You happily smile and run into your brother's arms as soon as you see him. „I missed you big man,“ you laugh.
„Missed you too, Missy,“ Clay whispers into your hair, holding you close for another minute. „Thank you for inviting us,“ he then tells you, breaking the hug with a big smile on his face.
You grin and lightly shove his shoulder. „Of course I‘d invite you. It’s not often you have free time, you know. Besides, I don‘t want to spend Thanksgiving alone.“
When you look behind your older brother you see his team members finally approaching. They were waiting at the beginning of your driveway. They weren‘t all here today though. The team leader, Jason Hayes was with his family, as well as Ray Perry, but the others were invited to your Thanksgiving dinner.
„Hello, welcome,“ you enthusiastically greet them, waving. „Nice to finally meet you all. Clay told me much about you guys!“ You smile at them, shaking hand after hand.
They all smile at you and then one of them starts speaking. „Thanks for the invite. I‘m Sonny. I‘m surprised Blondie never told us about you,“ he tells you and you side-eye Clay before you start laughing.
„I think I need to have a talk with him regarding that matter,“ you tease. „But, let’s not talk about that! Please, come inside.“ You motion them to follow you and walk into your house. It was a little small but perfect for you. You couldn‘t imagine living somewhere else.
They follow you like a bunch of lost puppies and it‘s more than funny to you. You show them your living room and tell them to sit down. You would bring the food shortly, you say.
Clay follows you into the kitchen where you run around humming to yourself. „Are you trying to feed a whole bataillon?“ he laughs and you shriek.
„Jesus Christ!“ You place your hand over your heart. „Don‘t scare me like that!“ you scold him, jabbing your finger at him.
„I’m sorry,“ he laughs, pressing a kiss to your head. „Won‘t do it again. I just wanted to help you,“ he explains, starting to stir the gravy. „Been with these guys for too long.“
„Well, you chose to, didn‘t you?“ you ask putting the pie in the oven. „By the way,“ you look at him. „Who‘s the one with the beard?“
„We all have a beard Missy,“ Clay snorts and you roll your eyes.
„The one who didn‘t talk,“ you explain, tilting your head at your brother. „He only looked at me a bit strangely.“ You place the baking gloves on the counter and wipe a couple hair strands out of your face.
„Could be Brock or Trent. Why you wanna know?“
„He’s cute,“ you say with a shrug and Clay stops stirring. He turns around, eyes wide.
“No. No, no, no! You won’t make a move on one of my teammates!” he almost screams and you only laugh.
“Why not?”
“Because, firstly, I would work with the man fucking my sister, which is already weird enough and, secondly, you know our job,” his voice turns serious. “I don’t want you to…get your heart broken.” Clay averts his gaze, memories of his own breakup with Stella surfacing. She wasn’t able to live with the fear of losing him…
You already had him to worry about but dating another SEAL? He didn’t know if you could take that much stress and uncertainty. He wanted only the best for you.
You sign and walk towards him. “I know your job,” you confirm, gently placing your hand on his upper arm. “But does a dangerous job mean you guys are unlovable or don’t deserve it?”
You look up at him and he wants to cry. You were right but still, he didn’t want you to love one of them. Without saying anything he pulls you into his arms and keeps you close.
“Don’t…do anything you’ll regret,” he whispers and you tighten your arms around him. You never wanted to let him go. You’ve missed him too much…
“I promise,” you whisper back, a little tear escaping your eye. “Besides, I just said he’s cute. Never said I’ll make a move,” you then immediately joke, breaking the hug with a sniff.
Clay only rolls his eyes, trying to hide his smirk. “Maybe you did but I know you better.”
-
Trent sits on your couch, involved in a heavy discussion about football with Sonny. The Texan couldn’t accept the fact that he was the only hardcore football fan.
“We can watch soccer instead,” Brock retorts with a snort and immediately gains a death glare from Sonny.
„We‘re in America and in America you watch football!“ Sonny proudly exclaims, straightening his back and popping out his chest. „Besides, it‘s a long Thanksgiving tradition!“
Trent just rolls his eyes and pushes himself off the couch. He would look and ask if he could help anywhere. He’s not used to doing nothing. His hands are itching to do something.
When he‘s about to enter your kitchen he sees you and Clay breaking a hug. He decides to wait outside. You haven’t seen your brother in a long time and he wanted to give the two of you some privacy. When he‘s sure he can enter he slightly clears his throat.
You look to the door and smile when you see one of Clay‘s teammates. „Hey,“ you greet him, walking over to shake his hand. „Can I help you with anything?“, you want to know and he shakes his head.
„No, thanks. I actually wanted to ask if I can help you,“ he answers, trying his best to not look too intimidating. His height didn‘t help with that. „I‘m Trent, by the way,“ he’s careful not to stumble over his words.
He was nervous. Why was he nervous? You only were Clay’s sister. He didn’t know you. You didn‘t know him. So, why the hell was he nervous about talking to you?
„Uhm,“ you look around and totally miss the way Clay eyes his friend with a stern gaze (You didn‘t miss it). „I actually do need help, yes. These-“ you point at a couple of pots and the turkey. „-need to be set on the table.“
“Okay,” Trent slightly smiles before he looks at Clay. “You wanna help?” The younger SEAL stares at his friend for a couple seconds before he nods.
“Yea, I’ll tell you where to put it.”
“Great,” Trent mumbles as he picks up the turkey and leaves the kitchen, Clay following him with one of the pots. You look after them with a smile, then a laugh when you hear how your brother instructs his friend.
You decide to head to your living room to call the other guys. „Food‘s ready,“ you smile at them, peaking your head through the door. Sonny immediately stands up and claps his hands.
„That‘s my call!“ the Texan says and Brock snorts. Then he also stands up and walks towards you.
„I hope this isn‘t too much to ask but the dog‘s still in the car and I wanted to know if I‘d be allowed to get him out?“ He lightly tilts his head and you nod, an excited grin on your face.
„Sure! You can go and get him. Clay told me much about Cerberus!“ Relief washes over Brock and he excuses himself to get Cerberus. Normally he always took him with him but he didn‘t know how you‘d react to the shepherd dog.
„I‘m surprised that he didn‘t go crazy already,“ Clay retorts, suddenly by your side. „That dog‘s his life…“
„Well, at least he‘s got someone, no? Dog or not.“ You smile at your brother before you leave him alone to sit down in your dining room. „Are you coming?“ you turn around and he nods before following you.
-
„Missy, it‘s me!“ Your head shoots up when you hear Sonny‘s voice. What was the Texan doing in your house? Not that you didn‘t want him here, you‘ve become amazing friends with Bravo Team since your Thanksgiving dinner but it was 12am, so why was Sonny here?
Your head pops out of the kitchen and you eye Sonny. „What are you doing here? You’re supposed to be at work.“
„Trent said I need to step back for a day or two. That fucker got me the wrong way during sparring,“ he explains while he stretches himself on your couch. „You have no problem with me being here, do you? I can also leave if you want me to.“ He looks up at you with a raised eyebrow.
„Oh,“ you smile. „No, you can stay. I have no problem with that.“ You turn to leave to the kitchen again then you turn around once more. „I hope you‘re fine lasagne? Clay asked me to cook it since he‘ll be around for lunch today.“
Sonny starts to grin and stand up immediately. „Did you say lasagne? Count me in Ms.Spenser!“ He follows you to the kitchen like a lost puppy and you laugh at that.
„You really want to compete with Cerberus, do you?“ Sonny only snorts at your question and sits down on one of your kitchen chairs. You laugh and shake your head. „Normally he‘s the one following me to the kitchen like he‘s a saint.“
„He ain‘t a saint,“ Sonny retorts and you grin.
„No, he‘s not. But you are?“ You turn to look at him, just fast enough to see him smirk.
„Never said I was one,“ he answers with a shrug, a full grin now working its way onto his face. „No one‘s a saint,“ he continues, stretching out his legs. „Except for you maybe. You come quite close to one.“
„Why‘s that?“ you ask, sprinkling cheese over the lasagna. You glance at him over your shoulder. He has his hands crossed in his lap and his head laid back, eyes closed. You smile at that sight. If you learned one thing about Sonny it was that he always acted all tough and untouchable but deep down he just wanted peace and calm…
„You‘re nice, you care for us, Trent has a crush on you,“ Sonny starts listing, not paying attention to the fact that he‘d just exposed his brother and you freeze. Trent had what? Surely you must‘ve misheard it. „Jason likes your muffins, Clay isn‘t bitching around that much when he was with you before.“ Sonny opens his eyes and looks at you. „You want me to continue?“
You shake your head and walk over to the oven. „No…“ you sound a bit confused, almost irritated by Sonny‘s words. „You don‘t need to praise me to the heavens, Sonny.“ you force a smile at him. „I‘m just…a normal person. Nothing special.“ You push the lasagna inside and turn the oven on.
Sonny tilts his head at you. Something he said caught you off guard, he can feel it. „Is it because I told you Jace likes your muffins? I was not supposed to tell you but-“
You turn around. „It‘s not the muffins Sonny.“
„Mhh…“ Sonny recalls everything he told you and then his eyes widen. „Oh shit! It‘s what I said about Trent, right? Oh fuck!“ He stands up. „Look, just- I don‘t know… Just because I said it doesn‘t mean it needs to be true!“
You shut him up with your gaze and for a second he just stands in your kitchen staring at you. Then realization hits him. „Oh… You want it to be true, don‘t you?“ You feel blood rush into your cheeks and avert your eyes. Sonny wouldn‘t let you hear the end of it now…
You expect the Texan to crack jokes and maybe laugh but he just looks at you. „You like him“, he then slowly puts the pieces together further and you simply nod along. „Now I own Ray 50$, damn.“
Your eyes widen and you open your mouth. „You had bets on me?“ He can‘t be serious, can he?
„Of course,“ Sonny seems so casual about it. „Ever since you brought Trent soup when he had a cold. You didn‘t even do it for Clay when he was bedridden.“ You don‘t know how to respond to that. If the team knew… did Trent know it too? Your palms start to sweat.
„Does…does he know?“ you carefully ask Sonny and he snorts. Was that a good sign now or a bad one?
„That fucker is as oblivious as Cerb when Brock tells him they‘re going swimming but instead he drags him to the vet.“ You blink at Sonny, not sure what to do with that answer. Sonny sighs. „Long story short, he doesn’t know. He doesn’t even think there's a possibility of you liking him back. That man is so head over heels over you that he tries to find even the slightest excuse to show up at your front door.“
„He…does?“ you’re still surprised by the fact that Trent apparently also likes you. You didn‘t know how to process all this.
„Of course,“ Sonny laughs. „Matter of fact, I‘m 100% sure he’s trying to convince Clay right now to let him come with him. Man‘s desperate to see you.“
You want to answer but then you think for a second. Why was Sonny telling you all this? Why was he breaking Trent‘s trust like that? This wasn‘t normal for Sonny…
„Why are you doing this Sonny?“ You then decide to ask. „Why are you telling me all this? Aren‘t you…betraying Trent right now?“
-
It‘s 11, maybe 11:30pm when you leave work and the cold wind collides with your face. You shiver and pull your jacket faster around you. You should‘ve taken your fucking car instead of walking to work this afternoon. You curse yourself as you quicken your steps and look around almost paranoid.
With Clay being your brother you always were very aware of what was happening around you. Clay made sure to teach you what he thought was necessary for you to know, that included the observation of everything around you and you’ve never been more thankful for it. It made you feel a tad more safe, especially now that you were walking around alone at night.
When you hear footsteps getting close to you you fish for your phone, never being more happy to have Clay on speed dial. You press your phone to your ear, your eyes glancing behind your shoulder. There was someone…
You decide to walk another way back home. One where you walk through the more populated areas of the town. While you try to keep an eye on your surroundings you wait for Clay to pick up. When he doesn‘t you suppress a curse and dial the next number. Sonny.
He would pick up, no? He is always on his phone anyway. But Sonny doesn’t pick up. You try to reach Clay again, then Sonny. They don’t answer.
“Fuck,” you breathe out, glancing behind you again. Whoever was walking behind you was surely following you. You’ve been taking other turns for the third time in a row now and they were still behind you.
You squint at your phone and take a deep breath. Without thinking twice about it you dial Trent’s number. You’re afraid you’ll break your phone with the grip you’re having on it but you try to keep calm. Clay prepared you for situations like this. Kinda.
“Trent? It’s me. Am I interrupting something?” you let out a relieved breath when he answers. “Could you do me a favor?” you’re even more relieved when he immediately answers with a yes. “I’m on my way back home from work and there’s someone follow-“ you can’t even finish your sentence before you hear him get up and grab his keys.
He asks you where you are and you quickly send him your live location. He promises you he’ll be there as fast as he can and your legs nearly give out from the sudden reassurance. You thank him over and over, quickening your steps once again.
“I’ll be there in 15,” you hear Trent say and you visibly relax. “Stay where you are, try to find a crowd or something close to that. I’m gonna stay in the line,” he explains and you nod, telling him you’ll do the best you can.
Your eyes scan the buildings surrounding you and then fall onto a small 24/7 shop. There surely was someone who could keep you company while Trent arrives, right?
“There’s a uh store,” you carefully say, your feet walking yourself over there almost by themselves. As expected Trent tells you to enter and look out for someone.
A small ‘ding’ signals you entering the store and you immediately start to hide between the shelves. And you were right to do so because only seconds later the bell rings again. You take a deep breath and grab one of the baking mixtures to look busy.
Then you call Trent’s name again. “I’m pretty sure they followed me into the store,” you quietly say, trying to glance around as unsuspiciously as possible. You pause for a second, the grip around the baking mix tightening. “Please tell me you’re here soon…”
“5 minutes,” he tells you, flooring the throttle of his truck. “5 minutes, then I’m there.” His grip on the steering wheel turns his knuckles white and he needs to keep himself calm more than ever.
On the battlefield he never was that nervous. His brothers could take care of themselves but you… You couldn’t.
Yes, Clay probably taught you basic self defense, he thinks but still. He could protect you better than you ever could…
When he arrives at your location he doesn’t bother properly parking his truck. He jumps out and tries to calmly walk towards the store but it‘s like his feet are itching.
He raises his phone, looking at the still ongoing call. „I‘m here,“ he tells you and then he opens the door. You‘re in his arms before he can even blink.
He stumbles two steps backwards before he can wrap his arms around you. „It‘s okay, it‘s okay,“ he says, his hand finding its way to the back of your head, keeping you close to him. „You’re not alone anymore.“
„God, that man was creepy,“ you breathlessly laugh, breaking the hug. You immediately miss the warmth Trent generated and heavily blush. „I‘m sorry for calling you so out of the blue-“ you want to apologize but he’s raising his hand to stop you.
„No, none of that. You can call me whenever you need. I‘m always there for you,“ he explains, looking you deep in the eyes. „Now, did you see the man? Do you know who he is?“
Trent‘s eyes narrow and the sparkling got replaced by a dangerous look. You shiver and swallow. You turn so you stand beside Trent and then you nod into the direction of a man. „That‘s him,“ you say. „He‘s been following me for at least three blocks.“
Trent looks at the man, then at you. „My truck‘s outside. Gimme three minutes and I‘ll join you there. I don‘t want you to witness this.“ He looks at you again and you nod.
„Okay. I‘ll go and wait…outside.“ You turn your back to Trent and leave, adrenaline pumping through your veins. You knew what he was gonna do. He‘ll nicely confront the man and probably calmly tell him to fuck off.
You stand beside his truck, already climbing in since it‘s still running and you can already see yourself patching up his bloody knuckles later. You sigh when you think about that. Sometimes you thought that he was just chasing trouble…
-
„Why are you looking at me like that?“ you mumble into your pillow, your eyes heavy with sleep.
„You’re pretty,“ Trent says and you can hear the smile in his voice. You quietly laugh and rub your eyes. Then you sit up in your bed and look at him. He sits on the floor, his back popped up against a wall.
„How long‘ve you been watching me?“ you want to know, smiling at him. He accompanied you home after the incident the night before and he refused to leave…
You offered him your couch, your bed even but he declined. So, he probably was awake the whole night, making sure you’re safe.
“I woke up about two hours ago,” he lies, placing his arms on his bent legs. “I made breakfast,” he then tells you, standing up with a low grunt. “Get ready, then we can eat.” He smiles before he leaves your room.
You quickly stand up and throw on some clothes before you rush to the bathroom to get ready. On the other side of your flat stood Trent in your kitchen, asking himself if he was going crazy.
He couldn’t think straight whenever he was with you and damn, it was showing. Telling you you look pretty while you just woke up? Watching you sleep in the first place? What the hell was he going through?
He wasn’t unfamiliar with being in love, that’s what brought him his two ex wives… So, he really wasn’t new to it but why was he acting so weird with you now? It shouldn’t be weird, no?
“You made all this?” your voice pulls him out of his thoughts and he looks at you. Fuck, you were even more beautiful now… How was he supposed to look past that and just…be normal?
„I did, yeah,“ he smiles, hiding his fidgeting hands behind his back. You grin up at him, the crinkles around your eyes showing and he just feels like he’s falling in love with you all over again.
„You didn‘t have to,“ you laugh, crossing your arms in front of your body. „This is- You didn‘t need to-“ you want to finish your sentence but Trent interrupts you. He gently leads you towards your table and pulls back a chair for you.
„I wanted to,“ he simply says. „Besides I already got the call that I need to leave soon, so I just wanted to make you happy before I and the team vanish for god knows how long again.“ He sits down opposite to you and fills your and his glass with orange juice.
„Will Clay pick you up?“ you ask, taking a sip of your orange juice. Trent shakes his head saying something about Clay not being allowed to know he was here and that Sonny wouldn‘t let him hear the end of it if he found out that he spent the night at yours.
You only laugh at that and continue to eat your breakfast. „I can drive you?“ you then suggest but he kindly denies.
„I can drive on my own Missy, don‘t worry. Besides, don’t you have to work today?“ Trent chews on his bread roll, curiously eying you but you just shake your head. You wouldn‘t need to work the next three days.
-
Your lungs sting as you run into the ER. You look around, panic in your eyes, your body shaking.
“Ma’am? Can we help you?” a young nurse asks, clearly worried. “Is everything okay?” She gently places a hand on your arm and your head snaps towards her.
“Clay Spenser. Where is he?” you rasp out, eyes teary. “I’ve been told he’s here.” Your voice breaks and the first tears run down your cheeks.
The nurse nods along and carefully leads you down a hallway. “I’m afraid we can’t help you but my colleague can surely tell you which room he is.” She smiles at you and you want to smile back but you just…can’t.
After half an hour of asking around you’re finally led to your brother’s room, your throat dry. You didn‘t know anything about his condition. Everything they told you was that he was being treated in the hospital.
„One of his friends is also in there,“ you’re informed as you come to a hold in front of the room. „We can ask him to leave at any moment though since he does not count as family.“
You only smile at the nurse. „No need for that. I…know him.“ You didn‘t know who of Bravo was with your brother right now but nevertheless you knew him. And besides, this team was family. They maybe didn‘t share the same DNA but the same blood was adorning their hands.
When the nurse was sure you were fine on your own she left you at the door, a comforting hand on your shoulder before she walked away. You stare at the door, taking a deep breath and opening it with trembling hands.
You pushed it open, your breath hitching when you notice all the monitors scattered around the room and the endless beeping of said machines.
You can see someone move and walk towards you in the corner of your eye. You know who it is when he lays his arms around you, pulling you into his embrace.
Trent doesn’t say a word while you cry, only holding you close and keeping a hand comfortingly on your back. He felt a bit helpless right now, not really knowing what to do but all you needed was just him holding you…
„Thank you for staying with him,“ you whisper after a couple moments, sniffing and breaking the hug. You want to wipe away your tears, feeling embarrassed for losing control like that but he gently wraps his hands around your wrists, pulling them away from your face.
You’re confused for a moment but then he pulls out a tissue and carefully starts to wipe away your tears. You feel like you could start to cry all over again.
„Thank you,“ you sniff again but he just shakes his head.
„You don‘t need to thank me.“ Then he pulls you into his arms again, planting a kiss on your head. „You both are family.“ Trent breaks the hug and cups your face with gentle hands.
„I know you’re scared for him right now,“ Trent glances into the direction of the bed where Clay was laying. „But he’s stable. He‘s pulling through. He’s a strong one.“
Your hand reaches out to place it over his, pulling them from your face and holding them in yours. You say nothing, only holding his hands and working up the courage to finally look at your brother.
„How did it happen?“ you ask, your voice almost being stuck in your throat.
„That’s…classified. I‘m sorry,“ Trent says in a quiet voice. „But, he’s got a couple of broken ribs, his lungs have seen better days and the fingers of his right hand are broken.“
Fresh tears gather in your eyes as you listen to Trent, letting go of him with trembling hands and walking towards Clay. „I told him that his job would demand its tribute sooner or later. He didn‘t listen…“ You sniff, carefully sitting down at the edge of the bed. „He never listens to me…“

“I thought you’d kill me as soon as I wake up,” Clay breathlessly laughs while you take a look at his bandages. He was currently laying on your couch, letting himself be treated by you.
“I would’ve,” you mumble. “If it weren’t for Trent.” You reach for the bandage tape and rip off a piece to place it over his arm brace so the bandage would stay in place.
Clay looks at you, tilting his head. “You like him, don’t you?” he then carefully asks and you halt for a second.
“What if I do?” you return the question, avoiding his gaze and fumbling with the tape in your hands.
You can feel your brother looking at you anyway, his eyes burning into your head. “I’d probably try and beat him up.”
“You would fail.”
“I know.” His hand reaches for yours and you finally look up. “I know what I told you when you first met them and…I still mean it but I can’t control who you love.” Clay pauses for a second, his gaze softening. “If you love him then so it be… Besides, he also has a thing for you but I think you know that already.” Clay starts to chuckle at the end of his sentence, his thumb carefully stroking the back of your hand.
“Guard your heart Missy. Don’t give it to the next best asshole.”
“Are you saying your friend is an asshole?” Your eyes widen with surprise.
“That’s not what I said!” Clay immediately shakes his head. “He’s a good guy—I know that for sure—but there are dudes who aren’t as amazing as lovely Trent. I’m asking you to be careful about them.”
You slightly smile before you sigh and stand up. “I don’t think you have to worry about me Clay. I’ll be fine as long as you don’t decide to run into a grenade anytime soon again.”
“I didn’t do it on purpose,” he grumbles, rolling his eyes in a joking manner. “Sonny said the path was clear.”
-
“You think he’s okay with this?” Trent carefully asks as he intertwines his fingers with yours.
“I don’t care what he thinks,” you reply, leaning against him, looking down at your hands. “I’m a grown up. I can do what I want.”
Trent chuckles, glancing at you with a gentle smile. “Do I need to expect the big-brother-talk?” He then wants to know. He needed to know what he needed to prepare for when he saw Clay again.
“More of a big-brother-beating,” you snort with a laugh. “I told him he’d lose and he knows it too but he wants to try anyway.”
“I promise I won’t be too hard on him,” Trent laughs, pressing a kiss to your head. “He’s still not cleared to operate so I need to look after him anyway.”
You don’t reply to that, only enjoying the moment, finally in Trent’s arms, without having to worry about anything in the world. You knew that sooner or later you’d be confronted by his job and its bad sides but right now you didn’t care about that.
You were with him and that was wall what you needed right now.
