Jean-Luc Godard chose to end life through assisted dying, lawyer confirms
The medical report on death of 91-year-old director said he had chosen to end his life.

The French paper Libération quoted an unnamed source close to the family who said: “He was not sick, he was simply exhausted. So he had made the decision to end it. It was his decision and it was important for him that it be known.”
The practice of assisted dying – helping someone take their own life at their request – is regulated in Switzerland and permitted if offered without a selfish motive to a person with decision-making capacity to end their own suffering.
Libération quoted Godard’s 2014, appearance on Swiss TV at that year’s Cannes festival, when had been asked his views on dying. He said he didn’t foresee wanting to continue living at any cost. “If I’m too ill, I don’t have any desire to be lugged around in a wheelbarrow ... not at all,” he said. Asked whether he could imagine resorting to assisted dying, he said: “yes”, but added “for now”, saying that the choice was “still very difficult.”
In France the law allows doctors to keep terminally ill patients sedated until death but stops short of allowing assisted dying.
In a separate development before Godard’s death was announced, the French president Emmanuel Macron confirmed this week that a national debate would be held to potentially broaden end-of-life options in France, with a citizens’ assembly to consider issues around euthanasia and assisted dying.
During Macron’s campaign for reelection earlier this spring, he had promised to open the issue up to debate, suggesting he was personally in favour of legalising doctor-assisted dying. Macron told journalists this week that change was necessary but that it was not “an easy or simple subject”.

La folie, vous dis-je, est sortie des asiles...
La lecture de la presse, ce matin, est bouleversante de tristesse. Le monde est vraiment devenu complètement dingo, et cette ''folie échappée des asiles'' dont je vous rebats les yeux depuis plus de sept longues années, à force d'être brandie, annoncée et répétée --vox clamantis in deserto-- est devenue notre pain quotidien. C'est tous les jours, autant que ''ce matin'', que la folie des hommes s'étale en grand sur toutes les ''Une'' du monde... Et il n'est pas besoin d'invoquer le covid, cette mise à l'épreuve des nerfs et de l'intelligence des dirigeants, pour se rendre compte que nous touchons le fond. C’est à peine s’il aura été un accélérateur !
C'est bien simple, il est devenu impossible de trouver un coin du monde où une catastrophe de taille ''XXL'' ne puisse éclater à chaque instant. Chaque dirigeant croit se sentir pousser des ailes, à un moment de l'histoire où l'inter-pénétration des intérêts est devenue, si on me permet ce mot pourtant si expressif, indémerdable. Et les voix qui ameutent les opinions, qui crient au loup, qui encouragent à --tout simplement-- ouvrir les yeux, à voir ce qui est, et à appeler ''chat'' un chat, sont inaudibles, couvertes d'insultes et de qualificatifs réputés malséants (complotiste est le dernier. Il y en aura d'autres : l'imagination des malfaisants est sans limite !).
La situation me remet en mémoire un livre qui avait marqué mes jeunes années : ''Jean-Christophe'' de Romain Rolland --10 tomes écrits de 1910 à 1912 (juste avant le cataclysme absolu de la ''Grande Guerre'', dont les conséquences ont largement dépassé celles de l'Histoire militaire : les drames que nous traversons dépendent encore de cette ordalie inutile et injustifiée...). Oh ! Trois fois rien : une citation, page 247 du Tome X, courte, cruelle : “On eût dit que le monde eût, pour le gouverner, fait le choix des plus médiocres. Au cours de cette période si courte et où allait se décider le sort du monde et de la France, les hommes en place pensent à gagner du temps (…). Il n’y a plus de pouvoir, qui n'est plus qu'une fiction commode, et le rôle du gouvernement ne consiste plus qu’à sauver la face et à proclamer la valeur d’hommes dont il a été en mesure de juger l’incapacité”… diagnostic terrible que l’on dirait ciselé pour aujourd'hui
Notre Président, par exemple, s'était cru génial en déclarant la guerre à un non-ennemi, ce qui est une idée fixe, à l'Elysée : le lamentable Hollande avait utilisé le même gros mot, dont il ignorait aussi le sens, pour le terrorisme. Mais si guerre il y avait, le moins qu'on puisse dire c'est qu'elle ressemble à la campagne de 1939-1940 : c'est une énorme déculottée ! La France vit un désastre, pour lequel le mot crise ne suffit plus, une désillusion aussi profonde que celle de mai 1940, où nous avions, répétaient nos chefs, “la meilleure armée du monde”… Sauf que là, c'est “le meilleur système de santé du monde” que la France pensait avoir ! Et dans les deux cas, tout s'est effondré en un clin d’œil. En 1939-40, c'est d’armements modernes, d'avions, de vrais chars d’assaut et de soldats (les nôtres portaient encore des bandes molletières quand les allemands avaient des bottes de cuir) que nous manquions. Aujourd’hui, c'est de masques, de respirateurs, de lits, de place, de personnel, d'hydro-alcool et de vaccins... (et de fournisseurs pour les livrer, de gens pour les administrer ou de logistique pour les distribuer… bref : de tout !).
Pourtant, la guerre, la vraie, pas contre le Covid mais contre une armée, pointe à nouveau son sale nez : pas plus tard qu'hier, The Economist consacrait un article à "HEM", le nouveau scénario privilégié de l’armée française : "HEM, c'est un code secret-public pour Hypothèse d’Engagement Majeur", ce qui, dans le jargon de ''ceux qui savent'', signifie ''un conflit direct de haute intensité mobilisant jusqu’à 25 000 soldats (soit 5 fois plus que l’opération Barkhane)… et un niveau de pertes jamais vues depuis la seconde guerre mondiale''. L'échelle de temps envisagée pour la concrétisation de cette hypothèse ? Dans les 10 prochaines années. Et les ennemis potentiels envisagés dans ce document sont la Russie, la Turquie ou ''un pays d’Afrique du Nord'' (qui ne saurait être ni le Maroc ni la Tunisie !)… Ça change du Covid et ça ramène les rodomontades présidentielles à ce qu'elles sont : trois fois rien... Mais l’ignorant tout-à-fait non éclairé que je suis se dit qu'un vrai conflit avec n'importe laquelle de ces cibles amènerait des nombres de morts sans le moindre rapport avec ce qui est envisagé... Et tellement d’autres catastrophes...
Et là, on est tenté (en tout cas, moi, je le suis) de jeter un œil inquiet sur la mappemonde : du côté de la Chine, tout, absolument tout, est prétexte à ouverture de multiples ''HEM'' (puisque c'est le nouveau sigle, qui doit éviter aux populations de se rendre compte qu'on est en train de jongler avec leur vie !) : Taïwan, bien sûr, mais aussi le Japon, les Philippines, la péninsule coréenne, tous les pays bordant la Mer de Chine... et les Etats-Unis, évidemment, soit dans un face-à-face qui deviendrait obligatoirement nucléaire --même un peu... si j'ose !-- soit en tant que protecteur, allié, ami ou ‘’grand-frère’’ de chacun des pays cités plus haut...
Il va de soi que, mis à part Formose (et les dominos que ce seul mot rend incontournables), le plus grand risque de ''HEM'', c'est du côté de la Turquie qu'il faut la chercher. La définition d'un tyranneau autocrate, c'est la perte de sens de la mesure et la confiance illimitée dans son pouvoir, sa puissance et son impunité. Et avec Erdogan, on est servi ! Il faudrait inventer un nouveau vocable dans le genre HEM² pour risque au carré. Nos militaires planchent sur une guerre iso-classique, armée contre armée, où nos 115 000 biffins, nos 40 000 aviateurs au sol (qui ont cédé leurs Mirages à la Grèce !) et nos 35 000 marins devraient contenir la poussée de... près du triple, en face, avec une réserve disponible de 18 millions d'hommes réputés ''aptes au service''... et une Cinquième colonne d'expatriés prêts à en découdre en France-même et depuis l'Allemagne... Cette hypothèse est tout de même peu probable à cet instant... mais c'est en tant que allié de la Grèce que nous pourrions être entraînés à l'insu de notre plein gré dans une aventure dont nous sortirions bien plus ''essorés'' que par la guéguerre ''macron-choline'' du covid !
Je me suis souvenu d'un très beau texte de JJ Rousseau, étudié au lycée, le célèbre ''lever de soleil'' de l'Emile, qui m'avait très fort impressionné, alors : ''On le voit s'avancer de très loin par les traits de feu qu'il lance au devant de lui. L'incendie augmente. L'Orient paraît tout en flammes....''. Ce texte me hante, ces temps derniers. L'incendie est là, tout rougeoie, la ligne de feu progresse, le ciel est comme embrasé, tout l'Orient va être dévoré par les flammes... et, comme Bazaine à Sedan (ou à Metz ?) tel que l'imaginait Alphonse Daudet... le Maréchal doit finir sa partie de billard (une version plus récente raconterait la scène où Hitler se reposait et où Rommel ne parvenait pas à le faire réveiller pour lui annoncer le début de sa fin). Nos leaders eux, parlent d'autres choses, en même temps !
Car pendant que notre assemblée dite nationale (que ne fait-on dire aux mots !) rejette l'une après l'autre toutes les bonnes idées que lui souffle le Sénat, pendant que madame Pulvar récite les idioties les plus inadmissibles et que les décoloniaux ''décolonnent à plein tube'' (Pulvar, l'Unef, Thuram... on est gâté !), pendant que la France se débat pour ou contre un vaccin ''qui n'est pas contraint mais en l'absence duquel on ne pourra pas survivre, par décret'', ou qu'on refuse de traiter Napoléon aussi glorieusement qu'il le mérite, pendant que nous nous délitons entre l'écriture inclusive, les folies ‘’transgenres’’ et les inepties des écolos de salon... l'Orient n'en finit pas d'allumer des incendies qui, si nous continuons à faire joujou au billard, ne peuvent que nous consumer. Nous vivons vraiment dans une époque... invivable !

CHISTOPHE C'est qu'il en a fait du chemin #Christophe depuis la création de son groupe "Danny Baby et les Hooligans" avec lequel il reprenait "Be-Bop-A Lula" de #GeneVincent. Propulsé vedette yé-yé en 1965, alors qu’il n’a pas encore 20 ans, grâce à Aline, vendu à plus d'un million d'exemplaires, il enfonce le clou avec " Les Marionnettes" et pose sur la fameuse « photo du siècle » prise pour #Salutlescopains par @JeanMariePérier. Les années 70 voient éclore un Christophe nouveau qui assume son goût pour les sons psychédéliques. Fini les looks à la James Dean. C'est désormais les cheveux longs et peroxydés, la moustache second empire et en costume trois pièces cravate- souvent des Cerruti- qu'il se présente. Il adopte les vestes velours ou de satin (dont une parme), les chemises à col pelle à tarte qu'il accompagne d'un foulard. Nouveau costume, nouvel album. Les Paradis perdus, dont la pochette est emblématique de cette période vestimentaire, est écrit avec un inconnu ,Jean-Michel Jarre, qui lui concocte un autre météore Les Mots bleus , (ceux qui rendent les gens heureux). Dans les #80s, il s'essaie au perfecto rouge sang. Dans les années 2000, il adopte le combo tee-shirt, veste (souvent chamarrée), jean slim. Il porte (sans croire) une croix en sautoir, des bagues argentées, son bras s'orne d'un aigle.
