Oh hey you found my rant on twitter. I WAS gonna address this in my thread but I didn’t get around to it.

Tang is NOT Tripitaka. Not from what we’ve seen or from how it’s been presented in the show. Tang is a reincarnation of golden cicada, just like TSZ. They key difference between the two of them is that Tripitaka is a Monk. Tang is Not.

The above point is the main reason why I have a problem with shipping TSZ. Being in a relationship is against his religion, and I think it’s potentially disrespectful, as he’s a religious figure. (I’m not a Buddhist, but some of my mutuals are, and they’ve brought this up as well.)

Tang is NOT a monk and relationships would not be something that he’d be against (as far as we know)

NONE of the characters in lmk are the same as their previous incarnations. Reincarnations don’t remember their past lives. They’re different people. I thought that was like. The point of the show?
