Tumblr media
It's a special day today because someone is celebrating a birthday: your husband Joe of six years.
You couldn't wait to celebrate it with him because he's been gone for a long time—half of the year just about. But having him home safe and sound with his family has been such a relief. You missed Joe, but not as much as your four-year-old daughter Jade (Jay Jay, as you and Joe, would call her). That girl loves her father more than anyone in the world. Sometimes it'll make you a tad bit jealous when she shows more attention to him than you, but the thought goes away when you see them playing and laughing together.
She wanted to sleep with you two last night, but Joe wanted to spend some alone time with you. So instead, he decided to lay with her in her room until she fell asleep. Joe felt terrible, but his attention was entirely on her the whole day. Not that you both mind it; he just missed you and wanted to show you how much he did.
You looked over at him and smiled softly. Joe was sleeping peacefully. His under eyes showed how exhausted he was. Without waking him, you slowly removed the covers and left the bed. You tipped toed to the other side of the room to look for your night clothes, where Joe threw them, then quietly left the room, closing the door behind you.
You figured Jay Jay was asleep because it was almost seven a.m., but the sound of hard plastic and animated mouth sounds flowing through her cracked door told you otherwise. You softly giggled while opening her door wider. She was fully awake on her floor, playing with her Barbie dolls that she recently got from your parents last week. Her precious green-hazel eyes averted to you, and they lit up as she leaped off the floor and into your arms.
"Hi, princess," you said, smiling while hugging her back and kissing her temple. "You're up early…as always." you chuckled as you tickled her side, her giggles filling the air.
She calmed down and said, "I wanted to play Barbie with daddy when he wakes up. I was just waiting for him." He did promise her that he'll play all day with her. But, unfortunately, he didn't get the memo when she wanted to start bright and early. "Well, I think daddy needs to sleep a little longer."
"Why?" She pouted while moving her unkempt hair from her eyes. You began walking to the living room to sit her down with you to explain why.
"Because we need to surprise him. It's his birthday!"
Her eyes widen as she lets out a gasp, "Really?! I have to make him something!" She slides off the couch and runs back toward her room but stops before going further. "Wait! Mommy, you can make breakfast for daddy. Don't make him cereal. Make eggs and waffles for him, okay? And bacon!"
You couldn't help but laugh at the little diva toddler. "Yes, ma'am, I got it. Thank you for telling me."
She gives you a cheeky smile before running off, following to get off the couch to start Joe's birthday breakfast. Jade returned with her supplies and paper and asked you to help her put her things on the table. Once she got in the chair, you resumed back to cooking.
Joe eventually woke up when the smell of his favorite waffles hit his nose: Chocolate chip. Also, the sound of his daughter's laughter abrupted his sleeping. Hearing her laugh made his heart warm. He was so happy to wake up at home with his family instead of in a small rental apartment that gave him restless nights. He felt awful for missing half of the year without seeing Jay Jay, but he knew he could make it up to her soon enough.
He got out of bed to use the bathroom and brush his teeth before joining his family. Jay Jay was drawing while you made the next batch of waffles when Joe stopped in the living room to admire you both. Joe sometimes can't believe he has a family of his own, which he wanted for a long time—way before he met you. When he got to know you more, he was happy that you were on the same page as him wanting to start one someday. You were perfect for him and his daughter. Joe couldn't think of anyone better to be his wife and the mother of his children.
Jay Jay's attention turned to the movement she saw from the corner of her eye. Her hazel-green orbs met the same set staring back at her—gasping in surprise at the sight of her father. "Daddy!" she screeched, jumping from the chair and running into his embrace when he got down to her level to embrace her back. "Good morning, baby girl!" He pecks her cheek before picking her up.
"Happy Birthday!" she said with glee, her little arms stretched out, making Joe grin even harder.
"Well, thank you, Jay Jay. I appreciate it!" He gives her cheek some more kisses, which sends her into a fit of giggles. Joe has yet to shave his beard that he had to grow for the project he worked on, only because hearing Jay Jay laugh hysterically gives him a dopamine rush when he gives her kisses. You started to laugh while listening to them as you began whisking the eggs. Jade had a contagious laugh, and it was hard not to laugh with her. It was one of the cutest things about her.
Joe places her back down, and she grabs his hand (well, two of his fingers) to lead him to the table, "I made a gift for your birthday, daddy." She climbs back in her chair while Joe sits beside her, propping his arm on the back of the chair she was in to look at what she crafted for him. She picks up her handmade card buried underneath a pile of gold and red glitter, blowing off the excess before handing it to him carefully. Joe's mouth agape dramatically at the crafty card made from printer paper. "For me? You shouldn't have!”
With a cheeky smile, he opens it and laughs when more glitter spills out. 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY,' it says across the paper, written in marker with each word in different colors. Below it was stick figures of you, Joe, and Jay Jay standing outside our house surrounded by trees and hearts. It made Joe's heart swell. "Oh my gosh, thank you, baby girl! It's so beautiful!" He says while pulling her into his lap and kissing her cheek. Her small hands tried to pry his head away as another round of giggles escaped her mouth.
"You're welcome!" she says in between laughs. Joe could do this all day and never get tired of it. Jade returned to drawing, and Joe put the homemade card on the fridge. You had just finished the eggs and got ready to set the plates when Joe came up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist, kissing gently on your neck. "And good morning to you, gorgeous."
You had wished Joe happy birthday around midnight after doing "late night activities" with him, which led to another round after you teased him about getting old and not being able to do that "thing" you always loved him to do.
Proving you wrong was an understatement.
"Good morning, birthday boy." you smiled, turning your head to kiss his lips before finishing up what you were doing. "How did you sleep?"
"I slept like a baby, thanks for asking. I missed that bed so much." He sighed as he placed his cold hands under your shirt, rubbing your warm tummy. "And I missed you laying next to me."
"Aww. Likewise, babe." You cooed, now placing a stack of waffles on Joe's plate. "I was asking if you were still interested in going out today. That's if you're too tired to."
"Well, I did want to go eat pizza for lunch, then come back home and enjoy the rest of my day with you beautiful humans." He tightens his arms around you, burying his face in your neck as you roll your eyes. "By that, you mean let your four-year-old boss you around all day."
"You know it." he chuckled, "You guys are my birthday gift."
"Oh, you are such a sap," you teased, turning around to peck his lips. "This is the only thing I'll ask you to do today: Will you help Jay Jay clean the table, please?"
"Yeah, right. Let's see how long it will take for you to ask me to do something else. I bet five minutes." He teased back before turning around to help little Jade with the table. You giggled when you saw a trail of glitter coming from the table to the fridge where he put the card. "You're probably right because you left a trail of fairy dust behind." you pointed out on the floor, and Joe looked down, a laugh escaping between his lips. "I did no such thing!"
"Yes you did, daddy!" Jay Jay giggles as she runs back to her room to put her stuff away. Joe fake gasped at her. "Not Jay Jay ratting me out."
"She's an angel, unlike you." you poked out your tongue, making Joe scoff. "Who said I was?"
Another giggle came out as you returned to finishing Joe's plate. You wanted to surprise Joe by putting whipped cream and sprinkles on his waffles. You set the table once it was clean, pouring everyone's favorite morning drink with the delicious dish you were about to demolish.
Joe marveled at the sweet breakfast treat before him, his smile resembling Jay Jay's on Christmas. "Oh, I'm just getting spoiled left and right today." He said. Jade walked back in and gasped. "Oh my gosh, Mommy, these look amazing!"
"They do, huh?" Joe said, pulling you into his side and looking up at you. "I think she did a pretty good job. Thank you, honey." You grinned and kissed his cheek. "Anything for you, babes."
Joe felt content now that he was home, even though he got home a few days ago. It doesn't steer away from the fact that he missed so much time away from his family. He missed birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries. So he did feel a little guilty that he was celebrating his birthday. But if it meant he could return home to his beautiful girls, he wasn't complaining.

"them gently tilting your chin" from the lovely prompts with eugene sledge pls and thank 💚
Tumblr media
He was never bold. Not before the war. And hardly so afterward. Gene was adventurous, yes, before the war. Always blazing his bike across the dirt paths that connected your hamlet. Always chasing you through the trees and begging to stay out even though dusk threatened to blacken the night. But he was too shy to be bold. He was too reserved in his mannerisms. He was reticent when it usually counted most.
Yes, he raced you with glee from tree to trunk, but Gene withheld talk of dreams and he kept quiet about his truest feelings. That never stopped you from asking all kinds of questions, though. You asked what he wanted to be when he was old enough to decide. You asked where he would move if he could; you asked what made him tick and you asked why he never brought anyone else but you out to theses woods to waste away so many afternoons. Gene would never answer, not really. He would shrug and sometimes smile and go on skipping rocks at your side.
And then the war came. And Gene went with it. And that was bold of him, you thought. The boy who never dared to dream out loud was suddenly up and gone to the other side of the world, fighting for it. Of course, he didn't tell you. His mama did, some Sunday afternoon. She pulled you aside in the middle of the market and said Gene was too worried he'd upset you. Too shy to say he wanted you to write. She told you he'd already left, and you went to spend the afternoon skipping rocks alone.
Gene wrote you once, and you thought that was bold of him. He'd left you without a goodbye, and he didn't even address as much in his scrawling. He wrote about the weather and some friends he'd made. And you didn't expect him to write about how tired he must've been or how scared. But you wished he would've. And you wrote him back as much. Your letter was never returned.
You didn't see him when he got home. Not right away. You'd heard his family mention the fact that Gene was safe and sound and more reserved than ever. You didn't expect him to come knocking on your door and sweep you off your feet. Gene would never be so bold. But you wished he would've at least met you halfway; at curb where your neighborhoods connected, so you could tell him that you had missed him. That you still did. Had his sense of adventure been lost after his exploit across the ocean?
You wracked your brain, wondering if you should wait for him to come and see how you'd been. You wondered if Gene would answer the door if you went to call on him. You worried yourself into a frenzy over etiquette, were you just meant to leave Gene be, now that he was home? Would he even be the same sort of friend to you?
You wondered and worried all the way across town, kicking pebbles on the path that led to the pond, in the middle of the woods. You took a trail that was only worn into the ground from Gene's bike tracks. You recognized the pattern of the tire marks.
You recognized the very bike that had blazed this trail. You recognized Gene, skipping rocks like no time had passed at all.
There he was, where the water met the land. His trousers cuffed; his feet planted firmly along the shore. His back to you. All the etiquette you'd worried over was out the window. Because it was now or never.
"Eugene Sledge where have you been?"
The boy turned slowly but did not smile to see you. His eye's gleamed, and his posture settled, and he kept quiet as ever.
"All this time you've been home. I was wondering..."
"Wondering what?" He said, as you stepped closer, eager to settle at his side, like when you were kids. This was all familiar. But Gene wasn't so much. He was quieter, if that were possible. He was leaner, somehow. He was distant despite being the most present he'd been in years.
"Why you never told me you were leaving. Why you didn't write me much at all. Why this is the first time we're talkin'... Thought we were better friends than that."
"Well, that's just it ya see. I never wanted to be friends."
One sentence compacted so many years of answers you'd been wondering. Your heart dropped and your world stopped, and you knew Gene had gone through hell and back. But this...
"Well, we were friends, so-" You began to defend, letting your tone turn bittered. But before you could finish, Gene was speaking up again. Rare. Riveting. Infuriating. Now? You hadn't even asked, for once.
"I know and I'm glad. Thinking back to all the times we spent together out here growin' up and knowin' I could come back to doing just that helped me get through all the shit of war. I'm glad you were my friend, and I knew you'd still be. But I never really wanted that."
"You're not making one bit of sense, Eugene Sledge. No wonder you never said as much." Your eye could've stung with tears of hurt if you weren't so confounded by the look of pain on Gene's face, too. He'd moved to face you as his features twisted into a grimace. He was never much of a talker. Not when it really counted.
Maybe that's why now, when he said "Wait, listen," he didn't speak another word. He only demanded your attention by reaching out in silence, big sad eye's locked on yours. Gene brushed the tips of his fingers across your chin, tilting your face closer to his. His lips parted to speak, but silence lingered as Gene brushed his knuckles across your cheek. His kiss came slow, and his lips were soft on yours. His kiss was a surprise you hadn't expected. It was a timid gesture that lasted only a few glorious seconds. How wondrously bold of him.
"That's... that's what I meant." Eugene Sledge muttered, both his eyes darting between either of yours. You wanted to shake him and grab him and laugh and call him silly for waiting so long.
"Well, I'd ask you to do it again, but you don't answer many of my questions. So, I'm tellin' you to do that again."
"I know we got a lot'a talkin' to do. Years worth. But I'd better follow orders first." Gene smiled. The first smile you'd seen in forever. His grin met yours and he kissed you proper, for enough time that seemed to make up for all that felt lost before. Maybe he hadn't misplaced his sense of adventure after all...

Mall Mishap
It's not that you enjoyed making fun of John, but knew that he'd get back at you. That's where the fun was. You both knew that it was fun, it was harmless.
This particular holiday season, you were spending it in America. John was up for walking through the malls with you. Not really for shopping, but just to look around.
"Oh, love, look!" You pointed at a Santa.
"And?"
"Go tell him what you want for Christmas," you laughed.
"What? No, Y/N, come on, that's for the children."
"Come on, it'd be funny!" You tugged on his arm. "If you don't do it, I will do it for you."
"Y/N.... please, don't. We can go get something to eat instead, yeah?"
You crossed your arms. His eyes were daring you. Well. You walked over to the Santa, making conversation as John watched in shock as you pointed to him.
Santa stood and followed you over to John who know was sitting down.
"This is John. He's a little shy." You said.
John, ever so polite, extended his hand to shake hands with Santa and smile at him. "John Deacon."
"What would you like for Christmas, son?"
"What I would like? I'm content with everything I have, sir. A wife that loves me and a job which I enjoy."
Tumblr media
(not my gif)
"Well that's great, son. You two have a merry Christmas." and with that, Santa walked away.
"Wife?" You said in shock as you and John walked through the mall in the opposite direction.
"I will marry you one day, Y/N. But for now," he shoved you in the direction of another Santa. "Tell him what you want for Christmas."
You stuck your tongue out at him before blowing him a kiss.

I loved movie night. It was the highlight of my week. My life was currently so hectic and so was my boyfriend’s which meant that we didn't often get time to see each other. So, as a compromise, we had decided that at least one night a week we would take for each other and spend watching movies. Sometimes we went to an actual movie theatre but mostly it was like it was
tonight. The pair of us were sitting on Joe’s couch candy and popcorn littering the coffee table in front of us as Joe poured each of us a large glass of wine. I smiled and settled back onto the sofa, placing my hand on his back and rubbing it gently. He looked over his shoulder at me and smiled, ‘what?’
‘Nothing,’ I shrugged as his smile widened, ‘I just love movie night.’
‘Me too,’ he said handing me my glass and then resting back and switching the television on.
He clicked on the home screen and then into the list of movies which he skimmed through unsure of what to pick. After a moment or two, he looked at me as if awaiting for me to suggest something.
‘What?’ I said taking a sip of my wine.
‘What do you want to watch?’ he asked.
‘Hmm,’ I said, ‘I’m okay with anything.’
‘You always say that,’ he grumbled.
‘Because it’s true,’ I giggled.
‘Oh come on surely there's something you wanna watch off the bat,’ he said as he slung his arm around me, ‘this is like when you say you don't care where we eat. Now I know that's not true.’
‘Because you should know,’ I giggled, ‘okay something…romantic?’
‘Like a chick flick?’ he groaned.
‘A rom-com,’ I corrected taking the remote out of his hand and finding the romantic comedy genre. Joe groaned again making me smirk as I flicked through the long list of films. I didn't know what to pick until finally, something caught my eye and I clicked it on without a second thought.
‘Bridget Jones?’ Joe said raising an eyebrow.
‘It’s a classic,’ I said.
‘Never seen it,’ he said simply.
‘What?!’ I baulked, ‘it’s on every Christmas! It’s like a rite of passage.’
‘I don't think I’m the target audience babe,’ he chuckled.
‘Well strap in Mazzello,’ I said, ‘because you’re in for a ride.’
Joe settled down and started to watch intently. As the film rolled on I swore I could even feel him chuckling beside me at some points. I loved it. Though it hadn't exactly aged well I didn't care as I watched Bridget struggle to choose between her two love rivals.
‘I can see why she likes him,’ Joe said as Hugh Grant fell into the lake and came out soaking wet, his shirt clinging to every muscle in his body.
‘Should I be concerned?’ I chuckled.
‘Hey Hugh Grant is a good-looking man,’ Joe said, ‘I can't deny that.’
‘Maybe,’ I said, ‘I’m more of a Darcy girl myself.’
‘Oh yeah?’ he said, ‘how come?’
‘He’s sweet. As good-looking as Daniel but not arrogant with it. He cares about her,’ I said catching his eye. He was watching me with a soft smile on his face which made me blush a little, ‘actually, he’s a lot like you.’
‘Well now I gotta swap teams,’ Joe said with a laugh.
As the movie rolled on we chatted only a little. He actually seemed to be quite invested in the story and even cheered a little when they started fighting. When the movie credits started rolling I sighed and sat up so I could tidy some stuff away.
‘That was a good movie,’ he said as I moved our glasses into the adjoining kitchen.
‘I love it,’ I called as I manoeuvred around.
‘Yeah I’m glad they ended up together,’ he said.
‘Me too,’ I smiled to myself, ‘I love a happy ending.’
‘Me too. In fact, I’m hoping I get mine,’ I heard him say.
‘What are you talking about?’ I said coming back into the living room.
When I appeared back into the room I was agog. The lights were dimmer and candles lit all around the room, so many I wondered how he’d managed to do it so quickly. And there, on one knee in the middle of the room as he presented an open ring box in my direction was Joe. Glee surged through me as I rushed towards him, his smile widening.
‘Joe-’ I said feeling tears brimming in my eyes as I clapped my hand over my mouth in shock.
‘Y/N,’ he said, ‘I love you so much. More than anyone I’ve ever loved in my entire life. I wanna spend the rest of our lives together. So, if you want to…will you marry me?’
‘Of course I want to!’ I squealed. He grabbed my hand and placed the ring on my ring finger quickly before he stood up and pulled me into him, kissing me deeply. I couldn't stop smiling throughout him kissing me and when he pulled back his smile was just as big as mine.
‘I’m so happy you said yes,’ he said, tears coming to his eyes as he placed his hand tenderly on my cheek.
‘As if you could doubt it,’ I said pecking him on the lips. My gaze dropped to the ring I had paid virtually no attention to. It was a simple silver band with a large diamond that I could hardly believe was mine. I loved it.
‘Joe I can’t believe it,’ I said, ‘I’m so happy.’
‘Me too baby,’ he said, ‘me too.’

happy moments in a happy life
Pairing: Joe Mazzello x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 4.8k
Warnings: Nothing, pure fluff!
Summary: Spending your daughter Olive’s first birthday in the amusement park, you reminisce about the day you fell in love with Joe.
Author’s Note: Requested by @borhapgirlforlife19 ! Sorry it took me ages to finish this but I hope the fic itself will make up for the long wait :)
the gif is mine
Tumblr media
“Hi Olive! Hi!” you exclaim with a wide smile and wave your hand frantically to catch the attention of your daughter. She’s sitting right next to Joe, his arm wrapped around her small body while his other hand is placed on her stomach to make sure she’s not gonna fall out of the mini train ride. After seemingly loitering in the line for quite some time, Joe finally managed to seize the seats in the small colourful locomotive, which of course are the best since there’s a button to sound the train horn. He insisted that his most beloved birthday girl deserved only the best.
Although truth be told, she’s celebrating her first birthday today and you’re pretty sure she can’t even comprehend the difference between the locomotive and the other carriages. Joe on the other hand? Oh, he’s having a blast for sure!
“Look sweetie, that’s Mum!” Joe points his finger at you and Olive looks up at him before she gingerly follows his gaze and finally her eyes find you with your phone in your hand. She gives you the most brilliant almost-toothless grin and you beam right back at her, promptly tapping the button on your phone to take as many pictures as you possibly can to capture this wonderful moment.
Your cheeks hurt from all the smiling but you can’t help yourself. Every single day your little family have been proving to you that even though it always seems like it’s not humanly possible to love them more, the love you feel for them won’t stop before anything and it keeps multiplying exponentially. The realisation warms your heart and the power of this moment is so strong for you to feel happy tears welling in your eyes. You lay your palm on your chest as if the emotions were to burst out of you if given the chance.
Before the train circles back to where you’re standing, you have just enough time to clear your throat and rummage through your handbag, finding a tissue to wipe away the tears.
Just as the mini train passes you again, Joe’s eyes meet yours and he smirks as he presses the button twice to honk the horn. He suggestively waggles his eyebrows and shoots you a wink, his eyes sparkling with mischief. Rolling your eyes, you huff out a laugh and shake your head, not quite capable to wipe that bright smile from your face. As a payback, you cross your eyes and poke out your tongue at him. Your silly expression makes Olive giggle even harder and it takes Joe great effort to keep her upright. His hands full of your squirming daughter, there’s not much left for him to do but blow you a raspberry in return as the train leaves you behind to make another round.
You get your phone ready again, this time swiping left to change the mode to video, unable to resist the urge to film your daughter for an umpteenth time. God, you’ve really become the parent that just has to capture every moment of your child, haven’t you. But who could blame you, she’s the sweetest little girl and anytime you feel down, you just scroll through your camera roll and that adorable smile cheers you up within seconds.
While they were out of your sight, Joe hoisted Olive up on his lap so that she could reach the bright yellow plastic wheel screwed to the simple control desk. His hands are over hers and he turns the wheel right and left, making train noises with his mouth. The course of the train does not naturally change based on their driving but Olive doesn’t seem to mind, giggling with excitement.
The vision in front of you takes you back to your college days, a very special one in particular.
The day you fell in love at first sight with Joe Mazzello.
It was a relatively cold day for the beginning of September. The trees were yet to get a chance to tint their leaves in yellow hues, but dark clouds and cold wind were making themselves known, announcing the approaching winter as small droplets splattered on the beige of your coat and the gust of cool air seeped through your clothes.
You lifted the lapels to protect yourself from the chill and shouldered your bag, precariously balancing in your arms the stack of books that you’d just borrowed from the college library as you made haste for the lecture hall.
The term had only started, but you were already drowning in heavy textbooks and lengthy papers, the tutors making sure their students were not loafing around. When you finally reached the lecture hall and found a seat close to the door, you dropped the books down on the desk with a loud bang, causing a few students to turn their heads after the sound. At that moment, the professor stood up and cleared her throat to announce the beginning of her lecture, and so you just mouthed a quick ‘sorry’ and plopped down on a chair. As quietly as possible, you took off your coat and pulled out your laptop to take notes. There was not much space on the desk in front of you and so you placed a few of the textbooks down on the seat next to you.
After a few minutes of your fingers flying across the keyboard as you tried to keep up with the merciless speed of the presentation, the door to the lecture hall was thrown open and someone stormed in. The professor cut herself short, the unfinished word hanging in the air as everyone craned their neck to see the source of the sudden disturbance.
A soft gasp escaped your mouth when your gaze landed on the newcomer. He was a very handsome man, with messy auburn hair, a sharp, prominent nose and beautiful kind eyes that glimmered in the white light of the lecture hall. A rosy blush spread across his cheeks and the tip of his nose as he tried to catch his breath.
You let your gaze drop down and inspected his clothes. Clad in black jeans and a coat, he appeared to favour simplicity with regards to fashion as the only traces of colour were the threads of red and blue weaved through his chequered scarf that was wrapped around his neck.
A small movement caught your attention when his grip around the handle of his backpack tightened. Shifting his weight, he chuckled nervously under the stare of several hundred students directed his way and the flush in his face turned a shade darker.
“Sorry, couldn’t find a parking spot,” the man grinned as he rubbed the back of his neck, his forehead knitting while he stood there, unsure of how to cope with all the unexpected attention.
Your eyes flicked to the lectern behind which the professor stood with a clenched jaw and gritted teeth as she looked daggers at the guy, her mouth forming into a thin line. With a quick tilt of her head, she gestured for him to take a seat and stop disturbing her lecture.
“Yeah, I’ll just, erm,” he trailed off as he scanned the room to find a vacant spot before his eyes finally met yours.
The time stopped. You weren’t breathing. He slowly blinked in a daze, unable to move or tear his gaze away from you.
You felt butterflies fluttering their wings in your stomach. You had always imagined this sensation to be uncomfortable and rather awkward, but the truth couldn’t be farther from your expectations. Admittedly, it was an odd feeling, yes, but it also was a surprisingly pleasant one, reverberating through your veins and spreading warmth throughout your body.
His lips curled upwards in a wide beaming smile and another warm wave washed over you.
The professor’s withering look intensified but you paid her no mind. His gaze still locked with yours, you felt an invisible force pulling at the corners of your mouth to give him a matching smile as you grinned from ear to ear.
The professor cleared her throat, making you jump in your seat. The handsome guy sucked in a breath and bit on his lower lip, breaking the eye contact as he sheepishly shifted his attention to the podium.
“Sorry, again. I’ll just go and take a seat.” He pointed his finger in your direction and gave the professor a solemn nod before scurrying towards you. You made haste to grab the textbooks that lay on the chair next to you to free the space as the other students shifted in their seats to focus on the lecture again, the old wood cracking and shoes squeaking against the linoleum.
He was at your side within seconds, bending down to help you bring the books to the floor. His fingers brushed over yours as you both reached for the same textbook and that now-familiar warmth settled in your fingertips. You couldn’t help but glance up at him, and your eyes locked again for a brief moment. Reluctantly, he pulled his hand away and grabbed the remaining books, neatly placing them at your feet before he took a seat next to you.
As you gathered a few of your belongings to empty his part of the desk, you realised one thing. The lecture hall had been built to hold as many people as possible and so all the seats were quite narrow, which caused you to feel the hard warmth of his body pressed against your arm and thigh. Truth be told, it was rather distracting, and you found yourself deleting a line of notes every time your mind wandered off as your unsupervised fingers started typing not only errors but occasionally absolute nonsense.
It seemed the proximity may have had a similar effect on him as every now and then his hands halted in their movement, hovering above the keyboard before he recovered from his frozen state and quickly typed a simple ‘TBA’, pressing the enter key and starting a new paragraph.
Once the lecture came to an end and everyone began to gather their things, you breathed out a relieved sigh, closed your laptop and turned to face the guy next to you. You meant to introduce yourself, maybe ask him if he would care to grab a coffee with you but before you could get a chance to open your mouth, someone else jogged up the stairs of the auditorium to greet the man next to you.
“Dude, what the hell was that?” the guy hollered and his barked-out laughter resonated against the walls as a few more students followed in his tail.
Your face dropped. With no intention of intruding upon the nice man, especially with his friends around, you gathered your things and meandered your way through the lecture hall, ignoring the agitated emptiness in the pit of your stomach.
At the door, you allowed yourself a glance at their group and your heart skipped a beat when you noticed him watching you. He gave you a small wave and an apologetic smile before he shifted his focus back to his friends as they discussed their plans for the weekend.
You bumped into a few friends of yours in the hallway and chatted with them for a while, promising to send them some of your notes until it was time for you to leave the campus and head home as well. Maybe you could make a detour to a local coffee shop. Even though it would be nicer to have company, who were you to deny yourself a hot cup of cappuccino.
Arms full of the many books you’d been carrying around the whole day, you pushed at the massive front door with your shoulder to exit the building, but you froze in your tracks as the weather put a damper on your plans.
You frowned at the dark grey clouds from which an absolute downpour was loudly beating against the concrete stairs leading to the lecture hall.
“Want me to give you a ride?” a voice said right next to your ear, and you turned on your heel, your breath hitching in your throat as you faced the man from earlier, the man you couldn’t stop thinking about.
“Isn’t your car too far?” you asked instead of providing an answer.
“No, it’s right behind the corner. I had to make a few rounds around the campus before I noticed Professor Giles reversing from his spot. Parallel parking is not his strongest suit, I’ll tell you that,” he laughed and tossed his head to prevent hair from falling in his eyes. “I’m Joe by the way,” he said and offered his hand.
“(Y/N),” you replied and wrapped your fingers around his, gently squeezing as a small smile started playing on your lips when his thumb caressed your inner wrist. “And thank you for the offer! But still, the rain’s really heavy and I don’t have an umbrella with me so I guess I’ll just wait it out.”
“We could share my scarf,” he suggested and promptly slid it down from around his neck. “Use it as a cover, you know.”
“I…” You got interrupted by one of your books slipping from the pile in your arms and you kicked your leg up, catching it before it could crash down on the floor. His palm landed on your elbow to keep you upright until you restored your balance and gripped the books in your arm more tightly, resting them against your hip.
“You know, I could carry these for you.”
“Thanks, but I’m alright,” you replied and gave him an earnest smile.
“Let’s make a deal. You lend me half of your books, and I’ll offer half of my scarf, what do you say?”
“That’s hardly a bargain for you,” you chuckled and looked away to hide the grin creeping across your face. Instead, you turned to the downpour outside and stretched out your arm, catching big raindrops into your open palm.
“Getting to press myself to this beautiful girl while we run side by side to my car so that I can give her a lift and maybe ask for her phone number, that is if I muster the courage? I see no drawbacks in the deal for me.” He revealed his teeth in another sweet smile and gave you a wink.
You let out a laugh as you shook your head in disbelief, and with a flick of your fingers, you sprinkled the water you’d just collected in your hand at him to punish him for his straightforwardness.
It was Joe’s turn to give you a slightly exasperated look as you giggled at his expression, and he rolled his eyes, the smile on his face not wavering.
“Come on.” He motioned for you to accept one corner of his scarf and while you were distracted by positioning the piece of warm fuzzy fabric above your head, he took a hold of the books in your arms, his firm glare not allowing any arguments.
“Don’t worry, I’ll give them back.”
He unzipped his backpack and pushed the books inside before you could utter any protests.
Although you hated to admit it, the scarf was not big enough and you had to huddle up close to fit underneath, just like he mentioned earlier. Maybe the idea of such proximity had not left him flustered, but it sure did make your breath hitch at the thought.
Hesitantly, you snaked your arm around his waist and after a beat of silence, he mirrored the movement, his palm gently pressed against your side.
“On three, okay?” you instructed and took a deep breath. “One. Two.”
“Three!” you both exclaimed in unison and darted down the stairs.
Oh my god was the rain bloody cold!
No matter how fast you ran, the harsh chilly raindrops were biting at your skin, quickly making it numb as your teeth chattered. And no, the scarf did very little to protect you from the downpour, getting soaked in the first few seconds. Adrenalin was pumping in your veins and the buzz you felt spreading all over your body had made you almost hysterical as you couldn’t help but laugh and squeal every time you accidentally stepped into a puddle, splashing water around you.
Moreover, the situation seemed to have the same effect on Joe, his grip on your lower back tight while he laughed at your side. There was this indescribable feeling of urgency and freedom and a rush of hot blood that left you feeling slightly dizzy and out of breath.
When you finally reached his car and jumped inside, you were absolutely drenched, raindrops trickling from your hair and occasional giggles escaping your mouths at the absurdity of it all.
Joe fumbled with the keys for a short while before he started the engine and consequently turned on the heating, pleasant warmth spreading across your damp skin as he hovered his hands above the fans.
“It should warm us up in a minute,” he commented and gave you a bright smile.
“Thanks,” you answered and mirrored his expression, the wave of warmth reaching your heart as well.
“So, where to?”
“Erm, Lafayette Hall, if that’s okay?” You suddenly felt the unease in the pit of your stomach and started absentmindedly pulling at your fingers in a nervous gesture. “I know, it’s a bit too far, so if you want to drop me off anywhere nearer, I will understand.”
“No problem, that way we can spend more time together,” he replied as he rubbed his hands and breathed hot air into his palms before he grabbed the wheel and the car pulled away from the curb.
His eyes were glued to the road ahead of him, and so he hadn’t noticed you breathing a sigh of relief and casting your eyes down at the notion of him appreciating your company.
“So, what do you say about the class?” Joe eventually broke the silence without tearing his eyes from the traffic as he carefully navigated the streets, but if you had lifted your gaze a fraction of a second sooner, you would catch him grimacing at the small-talk question.
“Seems pretty interesting. The workload is absolutely crazy though, don’t you think? God knows how many essays, assignments, presentations and the final coursework… sounds like I’ll be spending all my free time in the library.”
“Well, we could always study together. If you would like,” Joe added in haste as he dared to glance towards you to see your reaction.
“I would love that,” you answered truthfully and were rewarded with another beautiful smile of his which you gladly returned.
As he made a turn with his car, you were met with a sea of motionless red lights distorted through the raindrops on the windscreen. The rainy weather must have caused the usual surge of cars on the streets that regularly resulted in nothing but traffic jams.
“Damn it, I don’t think I can turn anywhere and bypass it,” Joe said, his eyes skimming the street.
“That’s okay, I don’t mind,” you assured him, unhappy to see the frown on his face as frustration took over his features. When it seemed he had nothing to say and you couldn’t think of any other words of reassurance, you immersed yourself in the sound of rain beating against the cars and pitch-black concrete.
“Sorry,” he said sheepishly after a while, “I offered to drive you home, not to get stuck with me in a jam.”
“You offered me a ride, the destination was not specified,” you retorted and turned your head to face him and shoot him a wink.
“Is it still considered a ride if we’re not moving?” he chuckled and you were glad the metaphorical dark cloud above his head, unlike the grey clouds in the sky, seemed to have dissipated as quickly as it had appeared.
“Touché. But still, I’m not complaining.”
“Neither am I.”
A comfortable silence settled between you again as you both sat in the car, none of you willing to break the eye contact. Unfortunately, the traffic started moving at that moment, albeit at slow pace, and Joe reluctantly shifted his focus to the road. Even though after a few metres it was time to push the breaks again, he was not ready to meet your gaze.
Instead, his fingers started drumming against the wheel, the movement catching your eye. When he noticed you staring, he smirked and pursed his lips, You thought he would say something or maybe give you another smile. What you did not expect him to do was start making car noises with his mouth and slide his hands around the wheel to mimic driving and revving up, which made you burst out laughing.
“What?” Joe asked and the innocence in his voice brought another fit of laughter from you as you clutched at your stomach.
“You’re ridiculous, you know that?” you managed to tell him in between giggles.
“I’ve been described in such terms, yes,” he replied with a joyful glint in his eyes, earning another laugh.
With a smile playing on his lips, he waited for you to calm down as you took deep breaths and placed your hand on your chest, your heart beating hard against the palm, before he spoke again.
“I really like your laughter, by the way,” he admitted quietly and you beamed at him. You might have fallen in love with him at first sight in the lecture hall, but this was the moment you realised you couldn’t quite accept the image of your life without him. And though you didn’t know how, you knew he felt the same as he tentatively outstretched his arm and reached for your hand, his fingers soft against your skin.
“Well, then it’s a good thing you make me laugh with such ease,” you smiled and squeezed his hand in return.
It had taken him a few more days before he gave you a lift again and as you sat in his car, at the very same spot, he finally kissed you and asked you out.
The brush of his mouth against yours caused your heart to skip a beat just like it does every time you two kiss, the memory vivid in your head even all those years later. As you watch Joe with Olive on the mini train ride, the ghost of the touch caresses your skin, the feeling as tangible as back then when your lips first met.
The train slows down until it stops to a halt as the ride ends and Joe grabs Olive under her arms and carries her towards you.
“Hi, baby, did you enjoy it?” you coo when they arrive at your side, your daughter cradled in his arms. She reaches for you with her small hands, and you can’t help but take her from him and press her against your chest. Joe’s hand finds the small of your back and he rubs it gently.
“We had a lot of fun, didn’t we Olive?” he says and tickles her stomach, her bubbly giggles earning her a bright smile from you.
“I’m happy to hear that!” you beam at them as Joe looks around the amusement park.
“Oh look, teacups! And there’s one with a dinosaur print on it. We’ve gotta go on this one too!” he exclaims and you place a kiss on Olive’s temple before you give her back to Joe.
“Have fun!”
“Wait, you sure you don’t want to go with us?” A wrinkle forms on his forehead, his eyes filled with worry.
But the mere idea of sitting inside one of the cups and letting the ride spin you around makes your stomach churn as you feel your gorge rise at the thought.
“Absolutely. I’ll go sit on that bench over there and watch you from there, okay?”
Joe hoists Olive up on his hip and gently grasps your elbow. “Is everything alright? Are you okay?”
“I’ve never been better,” you answer and press a sweet kiss to the corner of his mouth. You give him a reassuring smile when he hesitates to move and take Olive to the teacup ride, but she starts wiggling in his arms and so his grip on her tightens and he shifts her focus back to her.
While they wait in a line, you browse around the few shops and stalls that are scattered around the park. One shop in particular catches your attention and a quirky smile pulls at the corners of your mouth when an idea forms in your head. After you make your purchase and finally sit down on the bench you mentioned earlier, you scan the crowds to find your husband and daughter and that feeling of utmost love comes back in full force.
You can’t believe it’s been exactly one year since you gave birth to Olive. She is such a big girl already, and for a short moment you get slightly emotional about the passage of time. Clearing your throat and wiping your tears with the back of your hand, you pull out your phone again, taking pictures and videos of Joe and Olive so that you never forget this special day.
Later that night you softly knock on the door to the nursery and when you open it, you’re met with the loveliest sight in the whole wide world. Joe is sitting in a big armchair with Olive lying on his chest while she slowly sucks her thumb and listens to him reading her a bedtime story.
“It’s time to sleep, big girl,” you whisper softly when you kneel at their side and run your fingers through her hair. “Look, Mummy got you something while you and Dad were having fun on the rides.”
From behind your back, you pull out a small bright green t-shirt with a logo of the amusement park printed on the front and Olive’s eyes widen and sparkle in excitement.
“I know, it’s silly,” you quickly add when you spot Joe’s amused expression. “I just thought it would be a nice reminder of this day.”
“It’s perfect,” he says and chuckles when Olive grabs it from your hands and cuddles to it without hesitation.
“Wait, baby, I gotta wash it first,” you laugh softly and gently pry the t-shirt from her grip. She pouts, her bottom lip quivering slightly but Joe takes no time to hand Olive her favourite teddy bear and the sadness is quickly forgotten. Together, you put her to bed, kiss her forehead and tuck her in.
“Happy birthday, my love,” you say at the door and close it behind you.
“I’m sure she’ll sleep through the whole night, it’s been a very busy day.”
“It really was,” you agree and hide a yawn in your palm as you make your way to the bedroom. “Thank you for this, it was an excellent idea.” You reach out and squeeze his hand. “And I’m sure she’ll love the birthday party on Saturday as well.”
“Yeah, it’s gonna be awesome, right?”
“You wouldn’t have it any other way,” you chuckle.
Your hand in his, Joe takes the opportunity to pull you to him and wrap his arms around you in a warm embrace.
“By the way, where’s my present?” he whispers hotly against the shell of your ear when you enter the bedroom, and you giggle.
“Is it your birthday?” You tilt your head and cock an eyebrow, tapping the pointy tip of his nose with your finger. “Although… now that you’ve mentioned it…” you trail off and smirk at him.
To Joe’s surprise, you free yourself from the embrace and fetch a bag that’s been hidden underneath the bedside table.
“This is for you.” You pull out a much larger version of the same t-shirt you’ve given to Olive, although this one is crimson red and Joe laughs, thanking you with a press of his lips to yours. “This is for me,” you continue when you finally get a chance to breathe again, and show him a light blue t-shirt, “and this…”
Joe cannot believe his eyes. You’re holding a tiny pastel yellow romper suit, too small to fit Olive.
“Are we?” he asks as his eyes glisten, the realisation of what you’re trying to say with that small piece of fabric filling his heart to the brim with so much love and affection he feels for you, for Olive and for your new baby that is yet to be born.
“Yes,” you answer, happy tears running freely down your cheeks as you throw yourself at him, his arms always ready to catch you and hold you tight.

Light pierced the sweet darkness of slumber as the bed shook rapidly.
"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Wake upppppppppp!" Skylar yelled.
You let out a small groan and attempted to toss the three year-old onto Joe. It's too early to deal with children.
"What was that for, Mommy?" She giggled.
You peaked through the slits of your eyelids, causing Skylar to laugh. Where's Joe? You retracted the blankets and all the warmth that came with them and pulled them to the other end of the bed then sat up, and pulled the small child onto your lap.
"I thought your daddy was here, that's what." You replied with a scratchy morning voice.
"Where's daddy?" Sky questioned, tilting her head.
"He must've gone to work." You yawned.
"Without saying anything?!" The toddler exclaimed.
Your eyebrows furrowed at the sudden outburst. "I know! It's crazy!" You replied, trying to copy her enthusiasm.
"So crazy!" She copied, playing with your messy hair. "Mommy, you need to wash your hair."
"Maybe we should go get ready." You suggested.
"Maybe we should." Sky nodded, sliding off the bed. "Come on, mommy. You need to get pretty."
I laughed at her remark and followed her into the bathroom.
-----
After brushing both yours and Skylar's teeth and hair, putting Sky in a purple sparkly dress - per her request, and sending her to your bed with an iPad, you finally had the change to choose your outfit for the day. You wandered into the closet, asking yourself how you want to appear to the world today. You skimmed through your various shirts and none of them peaked any interest. Your eyes lit up as you glanced at all of Joe's shirts. Smirking, you grabbed one of his many white tee-shirts and red bomber jacket. Pulling both of them on, the scent of his cologne invaded your nostrils. You sighed and smiled to yourself while images of Joe wearing this exact outfit popped into your head.
While reminiscing the past before Skylar was born, a shrill voice calling your name pulled me back to reality. You trudged back towards the bed to see Sky poking at the screen of your phone.
"Mommy, someone texted you." She said, holding up the phone for your to take.
The screen lit up with a picture of Joe and Skylar playing at the park and a text from Rami. It read, "Hate to bother you, but Joe seems to be in a slump today. If you have time, I bet he'd appreciate it if you stopped by with Sky."
You quickly began typing out my reply. "I'd love to bring Sky in! What time would be best?"
Rami began typing on the other end and said, "Whatever works best for you. I'll let you know when our break is over."
"Perfect! We'll be there soon." You sent, turning off my phone.
"D'you wanna go on a field trip to daddy's work today, baby?" You asked Skylar.
She looked at you excitedly and nodded her head. You giggled and picked her up, carrying her downstairs to get ready for our little adventure. You packed the diaper bag full of all the necessities for you and Skylar with a couple treats for Joe. After filling a water bottle for yourself and a sippy cup for Sky, you put both your shoes on and you were out the door. How you managed to get out of the house that quickly is a mystery. But then again, you'd do anything to give Joe a pick-me-up.
By the time you arrived at the lot, you received a text from Rami saying their break had just ended. you silently cursed to yourself and pulled towards the gate that leads into the parking lot. You handed the security guard your ID through the window, leading Skylar to roll down her window and wave brightly. Damn Joe for teaching her how to roll down the window. The guard handed you the ID and explained the rules of being on set during filming.
"You might be allowed into the studio they're filming in depending on whatever they're shooting. Other than that, tell anyone you see that you were invited on set and they can tell you where to go if you get lost or if you end up somewhere you shouldn't be." He explained.
"All right, thank you!" You grinned, shifting the car into drive and pulling into an open parking spot.
Before hopping out of the car, you unlocked your phone and sent Rami a quick message letting him know you'd just arrived. You headed around the trunk of the car and pulled Skylar out of her booster seat, setting her down to wander, but not before telling her to stay close. You slung your bag onto your shoulders and grabbed Sky's small hand, heading in the direction of the studio. A few crew members passed you and shot a smile at you and your daughter. One in particular, recognized you from when you had first visited the set.
"(y/n), what're you doing here with Sky?" He said, kneeling down to the three year-old's level.
"Dave!" Skylar said, jumping into his arms.
He rubbed her amber hair, leading her to squeal with delight.
"We wanted to go on a field trip to visit daddy. Right, Sky?" You replied.
"Yeah!" She exclaimed, turning around and grinning at me.
"Well, that sounds like a lot of fun, you two! Want me to take you to the studio?" Dave asked.
"That would be great, thanks." I said.
Because Skylar refused to leave Dave's arms, he carried her while you followed behind. The two of them were peas in a pod when they first met. It was towards the beginning of filming, and Joe wanted to introduce me and Sky to the rest of the cast and some of the crew. After meeting Ben, Gwiylm, Lucy, Aidan, and a few others, Sky was exhausted. Joe was holding her in his arms, trying to keep her awake but failing miserably. Dave approached us and explained how he watched his younger siblings all the time when he was a teen, and how he was good with kids and keeping them awake till their nap time. Joe and you exchanged a look before agreeing to let him play withy our daughter.
He instantly pulled out a small rubber duck from his pocket and spoke to Skylar in a high pitched and raspy voice. She giggled as she leaned back into Joe. Dave waved the duck around in the air, eventually making quaking noises as it softly collided with her stomach. This caused her to break out into a fit of laughter, and hold her stomach where the duck had made contact. It continued on till Skylar was practically crying from laughing so hard. Dave was right; he was good about keeping little kids awake.
He lead you to a door on on a large building labeled "A27" and swiped his key card against a censor to the left. He put a finger up to his lips, motioning for the two of you to be quiet. Sky mimicked him while we walked into the building. The sound of Ben's voice filled your ears, and your eye's lit up.
"I put my heart and soul into this song." Ben said, reciting his line.
"No one is disputing that." Joe said in an English accent.
Skylar turned and looked at you with wide eyes upon hearing her fathers voice.
"And you don't like it, because you want your songs on the album." Ben replied.
"It's not that, Roger." Joe commented, being cut off by Ben.
"Then what is it?" Ben testified.
"I'm In Love With My Car." Gwiylm stated.
The three of you stepped on set behind the cameras in this moment to see the three boys sitting in a room that appeared to be a kitchen.
Ben shot Gwil a questioning look which signaled for him to continue.
"Maybe it's not strong enough?" Gwil acknowledged.
"What does that even mean, 'not strong enough'?" Ben said cockily.
"I know I'm late. What did I miss?" Rami said, walking into the scene with a coffee cup in hand.
"Discussing Roger's car song." Joe answered.
"Is it strong enough? that's all I'm asking." Gwil informed. "If I'm on my own here, then I apologize."
"How does your new song go then, hm?" Ben replied, picking up a piece of paper off the counter.
Skylar reached her hands towards you, asking to be switched from Dave's arms to yours. As quietly as you could, you took the toddler into your arms and gently kissed her forehead.
"When my hand's on your grease gun..." Gwil recited from the lyrics in front of him. "That's very subtle, isn't it."
"It's a metaphor, Brian." Ben replied angrily.
"It's just a bit weird, Roger. What exactly are you doing with that car?" Joe chuckled.
"Children, please. We could all murder each other... but then who would be left to record this album?" Rami butted in.
"Statistically speaking, most bands don't fail; they break up." Joe stated.
"Mommy, why does daddy sound and look so funny?" Skylar giggled into your ear.
"That's the character he's playing, baby." You whispered back.
"Why the hell would you say something like that?" Rami questioned, leading Joe to shrug. "Roger, there's only room in this band for one hysterical queen."
"You know why you're angry, Roger?" Gwil continued.
"Why?" Ben scoffed.
"'Cause you know your song isn't strong enough." Gwil stated.
Ben nodded for a second before picking up a handful of bacon from a skillet and throwing it at Gwil. "Is that strong enough?"
Rami walked out of the scene while Ben continued to throw a fit. Ben continued his rampage and picked up the coffee machine, threatening to throw it at Gwil. Before he could though, both Joe and Gwil stopped him by saying, "Not the coffee machine!"
The director yelled cut and everyone on set relaxed. The boys on set laughed for a second and Rami reappeared. You turned to Skylar and set her down, telling her to run up to her daddy. She nodded enthusiastically and practically leaped out of your arms. You watched as she weaved in and out of the crowd, eager to get to her dad. Once she was out of the sea of people, she scanned for Joe and when she found him, everyone within a mile of your location knew. She let out a shill squeal and threw herself at Joe. He caught her with a smile on his face and an ounce of confusion. He glanced at all of the faces till he found you, and you returned his gaze with a small smile and wave. You looked down and found your way towards the two and greeted Joe with a hug and a kiss to his cheek.
"When'd you two get here?" He questioned, a grin on his face.
"Not too long ago. Rami texted and said you needed a little pick me up." I explained.
Joe glanced around for his friend, sending him a playful glare once he found him.
"I love you guys." He said, placing a kiss on Skylar's forehead and one on your lips. "I don't know what I'd do without you two."

Can I request a fluffy Joe Mazzello x fem. reader long oneshot where it’s Christmas and Joe and reader are still asleep in their bed and their toddler daughter comes in their room and jumps on the bed to wake them up to tell them Santa has brought her presents and when their daughter comes over to Joe, he’s pretending he’s still asleep and when she gets close enough to him, he jumps up and starts tickling her and reader just gushes over how adorable he is with their daughter and they go to the living room and enjoy their Christmas as a family? Also, their daughter looks just like Joe?
I don't accept requests for long shots, but I can write a blurb!
Tumblr media
You weren't dreaming of sugarplums dancing in your head. No, you were dreaming about flying to Austria and landing on one of the snowy mountains there when you felt a little tug.
You blinked awake, still processing you were on the ground in your house and you saw the little face of your daughter looking up at you.
"Mommy, mommy!" she whispered excitedly.
You leaned over and saw that it was 7 in the morning.
"Wha...what is it?" you asked groggily.
"It's Christmas! It's Christmas! And there's presents! Santa came! Santa came here!" she cheered.
"Oh...yes...he did!" you agree with a sleepy smile.
She went over to the other side to Joe. He was laying on his stomach, his red hair a mess on top of the pillow.
"Daddy...Daddy wake up! It's Christmas! Santa got me presents!" she cheered.
There was a cartoonishly loud snore. You knew Joe did not snore like that when genuinely asleep but your daughter didn't. She giggled in response.
Looking closer, you realized how much she did look like Joe. She had his face shape, his eyes, his nose, and his mouth. Though her skin and hair looked like yours, her father's influence was just as present if you looked very carefully.
"Daddyyyyyyyyyyy, wake up! Wake up!" she said.
She leaned closer, took one grubby finger, and began to poke him.
In a second, Joe turned over with an "HRUAGGH!"
He grabbed the little girl who let out a delighted squeal and began to tickle her profusely in his embrace. She began laughing and laughing so hard, that even Joe was laughing. Even you.
"Dad-dyyyy, stop!" she asked, taking in exhales between laughing.
"What's that? Spot?! Like tickle spot?! I'll get it!" he cried, tickling her more.
She was kicking her legs in delight. Then finally, he stopped and all of you finished laughing, catching your breaths. She was so cute- so spunky in spite of her smallness. Her face is alight with the joy of both Christmas morning and her family. You never saw a child cuter than her and it made your heart melt.
"C'mon, nugget," you say to your girl, leaning her in for a hug and a kiss on her head.
"Can we open the presents?!?" she asked.
"Of course! Let's see what Santa got you!" Joe said.
With a cheer, she ran into the living room. As you both got out of bed and put robes over your pajamas from the chill, you kissed his cheek.
"Merry Christmas, Joe."
"Merry Christmas, Y/N."
You walked over there and made coffee, taking sips as the sun was rising. There were presents under the tree with still that fresh, papery scent of wrapping paper on them and the stockings were so full, they had to be taken off the mantle. Joe's, as a tribute, a little dinosaur on it. The tree was alight and the fireplace was started with a crackling fire. Your daughter was wiggling with excitement, ready to open gifts and see the things she wanted so much.
Everything could not be more perfect.

Merry Christmas: Joe Mazzello x Fem! Reader
~~~~
Key:
[Y/P] = Your Profession
~~~~~
You sighed in content as you rested your head against your boyfriend, Joe Mazzello’s shoulder. Joe smiled and pressed a kiss to your head.
“You okay, babe?” Joe asked. You smiled and nodded, looking into the crackling of the fire in the fireplace.
“Yeah. I’m just fine.” You said quietly. Joe smiled contently. There was a moment of silence.
“Do you remember how we first met?” Joe asked suddenly, breaking the silence. You smiled and chuckled.
“Of course I remember. How could I forget?”
~~~~~
You were attending the University of Southern California. You were going to that particular university, wanting to go into [Y/P]. You were sitting in class one day, listening to the professor, when the doors opened and someone rushed in. As the who class looked back at him, you noticed how cute he was. Short, brown hair, fun filled brown eyes. The professor turned around.
“Joe, you’re late.” The professor said. Joe nodded, out of breath.
“Yes, Professor, I am really sorry.” Joe apologized. “You see, my cat ate my alarm clock, so I wasn’t able to wake up on time.” Joe said, causing the other students, including yourself, to chuckle. The Profesor nodded, smiling slightly.
“Don’t let it happen again.” The professor said. Joe nodded, taking the empty seat by you. Joe glanced at you, and it was as if his breath had let his body. He was captivated by your [h/l] [h/c] hair and your sparkling [e/c] eyes. He saw kindness behind them as well as an eagerness to learn. He gently poked you in the arm, gaining your attention.
“Hi. I’m Joe, Joe Mazzello.” He whispered. You gave him a smile.
“I’m [Y/N], [Y/N] [L/N]. And I know who you are, Jurassic Park.” You said. Joe’s eyes lit up when you mentioned the movie he had been in as a kid.
“You’ve seen Jurassic Park?” He asked. You smiled.
“Are you kidding? Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies!” You whispered. Joe swore you were even more beautiful now.
“Well, it’s not everyday you meet a beautiful woman who also likes Jurassic Park.” Joe complimented. You felt heat rush to your cheeks at the compliment.
“Mr. Mazzello, Ms. [L/N],” the professor called, making the two of you fave the Professor. “Is there something the two of you would like to share with the class?” They asked.
~~~~
You chuckled and shook your head.
“I still can’t believe that I met my favorite child actor that day.” You said, turning your head to look at him. Joe chuckled.
“You better believe it, Darling. Cause you’re dating him now.” Joe said. He smiled as you chuckled. He then leaned forward and gently pressed his lips to yours. The two of you pulled away and Joe cupped your cheek with his hand. His eyes then widened. “Oh! Wait! I have another present to give you!” Joe said. He rushed out of the living room and into your shared bedroom. You chuckled to yourself as you heard Joe silently curse to himself. “Ah ha!” You let out a laugh at Joe’s exclamation. He came back into the room, holding something behind him. You rose an eyebrow in confusion.
“What are you doing?” You asked, smiling. Joe smiled back and let out a nervous breath. He then got down on one knee and brought out a velvet box. Your eyes widened. You sincerely hoped Joe was doing what you thought he was doing.
“[Y/N] [L/N], ever since I met you in University, I thought you were the most beautiful woman in the world, and I knew it was love at first sight,” Joe started. Tears started coming to your eyes. “You have been with me through thick and thin. You supported me in my role of John Deacon, and you supported me through one of the toughest years of my life,” Joe let out a breath. “I know now what love is. Love is, dedicating your entire self to your partner. Love is every kiss I share with you. Love is every smile of yours that brightens up my day. Love is,” he opened the box and revealed a beautiful ring. “Asking you to marry me and making me the happiest man alive.” Joe said. Tears were streaming down your face. “So, [Y/N] [L/N], will you marry me?” Joe asked. You nodded, taking deep breaths. Joe nodded his head, trying to get you to use your words. You let out a teary laugh.
“Yes. God, yes! I’ll marry you, Joe Mazzello!” You shouted. Joe smiled in relief. He quickly got up and wrapped his arms around your waist. He pressed his lips to yours and spun you around, making you laugh. Joe set you down and the two of you pulled away. Joe slipped the ring onto your run finger. It fit like a glove. You stared down at it, smiling from ear to ear. You looked up at Joe.
“Merry Christmas, Future Mrs. Mazzello.” Joe said, cupping your cheek with his hand. You smiled and leaned into his touch.
“Merry Christmas, Mr. Joe Mazzello.” You said.

Are you taking fic requests for Joe Mazzello or any of his characters?
Hey! I’m not, unfortunately. Writing isn’t in my life at the moment, which is heartbreaking to say. 😭 Hopefully soon I will be able to get back into it and start writing more Joe fics. I miss writing them. 🥹💜

A/N: Hey yall I'm back with a lovely request ti got the other day and finally finished! It isn't much but thank you for getting me out of my writing slump! Much love, and enjoy!
Eugene sledge x reader
Warnings: Rascism, soft smut, public smut, no mention of protections but smut is very short
☆☆☆
After the war, once Eugene made it home, he could hardly wait to see his girlfriend , y/n, again. And as he got out of the train, his face lit up. There they were, his best friends, Sidney and Y/n waiting to take him home.
☆☆☆
A few months later, Eugene and Y/n are lying down in the field behind his parents' house. It's quiet until Y/n speaks up.
“Why are you with me, Eugene?”
Eugene freezes and turns to look at her. “What do you mean, Y/n? I love you,” he reaches his hand out to comb his fingers through her hair.
Y/n turns away from him.
“Why me, Eugene? There are so many gorgeous girls around here. And I hear all the whispers from them on the streets. I can hear them say how they can't believe you would fall in love with someone like me. Do you know how hard it is to know that there are so many pretty blue-eyed blondies that you could eventually marry? I'm not welcome in this town Eugene… And they make it very clear.”
Eugene had been silently crying since Y/n had started talking. He reaches out again and, this time, is able to pull her into his chest. As they cry together, Eugene speaks up.
“They can all go to hell, ok darling? I love you Y/n and only you. I don't want to date one of those blue-eyed blondies because I have you. Look at me love,” Eugene lifts her chin with a finger. “I love you. I love your gorgeous black hair and your brown eyes. And I hope that when we have kids one day, they look just like you. You are the most beautiful woman I know, Y/n. And,” Eugene, sit up and get on a knee. “ I don't have a ring yet, but you make me the happiest man in the world. Will you please marry me Y/n?”
Y/n nods her head and tackles Eugene into a hug, making him fall into the grass. Eugene Laughs then brings her into a kiss. This quick kiss turns into more quick kisses… then longer kisses… and before they knew it, Eugene was hovering over y/n.
“Tell me if you need me to slow down, ok?” Y/n nodded and let him enter her. Y/n winces when she feels the sharp stretch of him entering her. However, the pain eventually turns to pleasure as he bottoms out inside of her.
Eugene listens to the sounds of the crickets and cicadas chirping as he makes love to the most beautiful girl he knows. And when they are done, he snuggles up next to her and lays there in the grass until morning.

Y/N sighed and threw the cotton pad down on the vanity. She looked at herself in the mirror and sighed. Without the thick makeup, she wore for the stage on she looked tired and washed out. That only added to her glum mood. She wasn’t in the mood for much today. It was her last show of the week and one that her boyfriend Joe had planned to attend but he had texted her just as she was about to go on stage telling her there was no way he was going to make it due to something coming up. She had been a little letdown. Due to his work schedule, he had yet to see her in her new role and besides that, they had barely seen each other anyway. The plan had been for him to watch the show and then they were going to let their hair down. Go for something to eat, maybe even a few drinks. But now she faced going home alone.
As she tidied up her dressing table, so it would be ready for the upcoming week, there was a knock at the door. She turned and found her friend Becca sticking her head around the door.
‘Hey,’ she said as she came into the room properly. ‘Hey,’ Y/N saId. ‘Feel like going for a drink?’ she said throwing herself into the armchair in the corner of the room, ‘I need one after this week.’ ‘I don’t know,’ Y/N said. ‘Oh come on,’ she said, ‘another successful week we should let our hair down.’ ‘I was meant to be,’ she grumbled, sighing as Becca’s brow furrowed, causing her to explain, ‘Joe and I were supposed to be going out tonight but he’s had to cancel.’ ‘Well some of the girls are going to Rudy’s,’ Becca said, ‘I said I was gonna see what you were up to and then join ‘em later.’ ‘Well I was just gonna go home but what the hell. I might as well enjoy myself,’ Y/N said. ‘Atta girl,’ Becca smiled.
They chatted whilst Y/N got changed into her own clothes and then they headed outside. They left through the stage door which brought them out onto a dimly lit alley that though it wasn’t the most pleasant could’ve been a whole lot worse. It was dark now, the majority of light coming from the street ahead of them. Y/N shrunk into her coat, feeling the bitter wind of a New York winter blowing through the alley like it was being funnelled directly into it.
‘Geez it’s cold,’ she said as they walked towards the street. ‘I know,’ Becca said, ‘I’m gonna need a drink just to warm me up.’ ‘Well first rounds on me,’ Y/N started though she stopped as Becca slowed down, pulled out her phone, and frowned, ‘what is it?’ ‘My sister,’ she said, ‘she’s in the hospital.’ ‘Is she okay?’ Y/N asked. ‘It’s not her,’ she said, scrolling through the message, ‘it's her husband. She needs me to go watch my niece and nephew.’ ‘Oh,’ Y/N said, feeling disappointed that her plans had been dashed again. Though she rationalised her night could be worse, ‘well you gotta do what you gotta do. Is he gonna be okay?’ ‘Yeah,’ she said, ‘looks like he was showing my nephew how to skateboard and well he doesn't know how to skateboard it seems.’ ‘Well I hope he's okay soon,’ Y/N said. Becca nodded and leaned in to hug her before she said, ‘see ya next week.’ ‘See ya,’ Y/N replied watching as she headed to the street quickly and disappeared around the corner. Y/N sighed and continued to stroll up the alley. Well, she did until she heard a voice behind her.
‘Excuse me miss,’ the voice said. Y/N turned around to find Joe standing behind her several paces beaming a smile at her before he said, ‘can I have your autograph?’
Y/N broke into a wide smile as he walked towards her, noticing the bunch of flowers in his hand. He came towards her, handing her the flowers as her his arms went around her waist, pulling her to him.
‘You came!’ she said, happiness lacing her voice as all her frustrations and sadness evaporated. ‘Well I am your number one fan,’ Joe said. ‘My number one fan who’s never seen my play,’ she giggled. Joe acted shocked, ‘excuse me I was in the audience tonight!’ ‘I thought you were busy,’ she raised an eyebrow. ‘I was,’ he said, ‘but as soon as I was done I raced here. I managed to catch the last twenty minutes. You were phenomenal.’ ‘Oh I wish you’d managed to see it all,’ she said, ‘I bet you didn’t have a clue what was going on.’ ‘I was a little lost. I won't lie,’ he smirked, ‘but that meant I got to stare at you instead so I was good.’ ‘Well maybe next time you can see the whole thing,’ she said. ‘Can I still stare at you the whole time?’ he smiled. ‘My number one fan can do as he pleases,’ she giggled, pulling out of his grasp and looping her arm in his, ‘you know what?’ ‘What?’ he said. They were on the street now, ambling down it slowly, arm in arm. ‘Since you’re my number one fan I’ll even treat ya to dinner,’ she smiled. ‘Sounds good to me.’
Y/N and Joe walked a few blocks before they found somewhere to eat. They tucked themselves away in the back, somewhere they could be alone, and able to talk about their days. Joe told her about the scheduling drama they’d had at work which meant all his scenes had gotten rejigged leaving him working well into the evening. She’d told him about her show and how she’d missed him when he’d told her he had to miss it. Their food came and went and though they enjoyed it they didn’t notice it much as they were too enraptured in one another. Pretty soon they decided to call it a night and headed back to Joe’s apartment rather than go for drinks as planned.
Y/N was sitting on the couch, a blanket over her, watching Joe. He was in the kitchen, pouring them both a glass of wine. His hips were swaying to the song in his head he was humming to. Y/N giggled as he turned around and caught her watching him.
‘What?’ he said coming in from the kitchen and sitting down on the couch beside her as he handed her her drink. He clicked the film they had loaded on the TV. ‘Nothing,’ she said with a smile, ‘you’re just cute.’ ‘Is that right?’ he said as he threw an arm around her. ‘Yeah it is,’ she said, taking a sip of wine and then placing it on the coffee table. ‘Well I think you’re pretty cute too,’ he said leaning in so he could place a kiss on her temple, ‘and I’m glad we got to have tonight together.’ ‘Me too,’ she said. Their eyes locked again and Y/N could feel a flutter in her stomach pulling her in. She leaned in and kissed him gently. She felt as he placed his glass down and pulled her into him, deepening the kiss. Then he was moving, pushing her backwards until she lay flat against the couch with him hovering over the top of her. ‘We’re not gonna watch this movie are we?’ she said with a giggle. Joe moved a hair off of her face and smirked, ‘ah I’ve seen it before.’ ‘Well then,’ she said, giving him a quick kiss, ‘you better put on a good show instead.’ ‘I always do.’

Can I request a fluffy Joe Mazzello x fem. reader long fic where Joe comes home from college for the holidays and brings his girlfriend to meet his family for the first time and reader is super nervous but Joe reassures reader his family will love her and reader has the best time with Joe and his family and they have a great Christmas together?
HOME FROM COLLEGE
Pairings: Joe Mazzello x Fem!reader summary: ^^^ Warnings: nothing
Tumblr media Tumblr media
your family had gone to London for Christmas, leaving you alone for the Holidays.
but your boyfriend, Joe, who just came back from college begged for you to stay with his family.
which brought you here, in your room, going through every piece of clothing you own.
"there's nothing!" you panicked, seeing whole mountain on the floor.
"nothing in your closet anymore? yeah" he laughed
"I'm have having a panic attack on what to wear, can you not laugh at me!" you rushed
"I said almost every outfit was fine" he shrugged, coming closer to you
"I don't want fine, Joe, I want, good, great, perfect" you sighed
"you're thinking too much of this, they're not going to care what you wear" he stated simply
"yes they will, I can't wear a dress, they'll think I'm trying too hard, but if i wear something baggy, I'm not trying at all" you fell back on your bed, rubbing your face
"so go with jeans" he sat next to you
you took a deep breath, closing your eyes as Joe laid next to you, warping an armaround you
"I just really want this to go well" you spoke quietly
"and it will, don't think too much of it. they're gonna love you!" he replied encouragingly
"how can you be so sure?" you questioned
"because I love you, and that's all that matters to them" he kissed your cheek
you hadn't seen much of him lately due to him studying and focusing of school but you talked pretty regularly. so the Holiday would be the most you would see him in a while.
-
"are you ready?" he asked, holding on to your hand supportingly
"not really, no" you sighed, squeezing his hand and flowers you bought for his mother
"it's going to be fine, they're all going to love you" he reasures you
"I hope so" you muttered
"I love you, ok?" he turned you around to meet his eyes
"I love you too" you smiled nervously
he leaned down and placed a light kiss on your lips in hopes to calm you down
he knocked on the door and waited for it to open.
-
the few days flew by as you had fun with his family, they adored you, asking questions to know you better and make sure you were right for their son and brother, and you were.
His family thought Joe couldn't have found anyone any better than you.
they took care of you and make sure you were always comfortable and full after eating.
and by Christmas night, you were all huddled up in the living room watching a movie.
Joe resting on the corner of the couch with you in his arms as his niece and nephew laughed at the Grinch.
"I like this, this was nice" you whispered to Joe
"I'm glad you thought so, darling. I told you they would love you" he responded quietly
"you're gonna have to get used to it" he winked, seeing him mother looking at the both of you with a smile on her face
