haven't kept up with his recent work but I remember older ones being generally very fun, noting expansive and consistent magic(/science) systems... LOT of sociocultural blind spots but in a reasonably well intentioned way (improved on this over time) it's just annoying in the books that have explicitly political storylines. great writer if you want to hit yourself over the head with 3000 pgs of narration from background characters but the emotional beats resonated with me pretty well as a teenager

im thinking i need to read more fantasy again but idk if i wanna take a shot at branderson... doesnt sound too bad but i feel like theres probably better shit i can read yaknow

BotW is funny for me because I didn't/don't miss traditional dungeons and i thought the way BotW was was exactly what Zelda needed to freshen up a bit buuuuut at the same time, I'll be pretty disappointed if the sequel doesn't have traditional dungeons (god speed if you hunted all the koroks though, couldn't be me!)

I hear you! I like the shrines most of the time, but after 136 of them, they're all very similar to each other, I'd rather see a full fledge dungeon. The Divine Beasts are fun enough but they're so tragically empty, and the 3D map may actually be my villain origin story. (especially the Hyrule Castle)

I would NEVER spend the time for all 900 korok seeds, I'd rather die lmao I lurk in the botw subreddit and some people will post random videos of finding korok seeds by accident, sometimes while they're paraglider, and that can't be me.
