courtesy of the lovely @pierrespuli, i have been having a low-key breakdown about piarles + That awful pre-monza 2019 press conference all day. i feel like this is one of the most crucial core piarles moments, even though it's one that will always shatter my heart.
i mean, spa 2019. we all know what happened there. for f1 to drag pierre into a press conference the next weekend is fucked up, and -- i won't go on a rant about the fia now. i won't. i'm just going to say: the only mercy f1 did pierre that day was putting charles in that conference right next to him.
because just look at this. look at the way charles is sitting as close as he possibly can to pierre. he can't say "fuck you forever" at the fia but he can damn well support his friend. and he does.
charles and pierre sit like this for the entire. fucking. CONFERENCE. charles stays so so so close to pierre, much closer than any of the other drivers are sitting:
look at the vast gaps between giovinazzi and hulkenberg vs piarles with their shoulders almost TOUCHING. it screams support: unconditional, true support. charles just stays next to pierre, as close as he can, and he might not be able to say the words out loud, but every tiny part of his body language is saying "i'm here for you, i support you."
and that... all shipping and ship opinions aside, that is a true mark of a great fucking friendship. it would've been SO easy for charles to just sit the usual, neutral distance away. but he doesn't. charles shows his support, and he doesn't do it for the cameras: he does it because his friend needs him. and if there's one moment, one press conference where pierre really, truly needed to know he has someone on his side, it's this one. and charles is there.
and it just... it must've meant everything to pierre. that support, that non-verbal "i've got your back." there were genuinely moments where it looked like pierre wouldn't get through this conference. but he does. and charles is beside him the whole damn time

was rewatching fabian’s baron moment on account of it being the most delicious piece of pvp in my recent memory and ally beardsley’s growth as a player just shone through so brightly and with such clarity. after dusting off their shock they immediately asked about the nemesis ward, had enough knowledge about fellow pcs stocked to remember adaine’s ac with such like frustrated confidence and certainty, suggested to siobhan to dimension door out of adaine’s room, like. they came into this making a character with 4 dex. and now the dice deity offered to roll a check to sense if adaine was in danger. making decisions, asking questions, getting invested in the story, trying so hard with the tools they have to save characters from danger; ally beardsley is an incredible d&d player.
