It may be controversial as I love both shows, and saying anything semi-negative about ATLA is tantamount to murder but...

I think Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts handled "ten year old finds a letter from their closest friend's dad and hides it, afraid of being left alone" better than Avatar did.

Wolf's reasoning makes more sense, she has a reason not to trust people. Aang had no reason to think they couldn't establish communication with Hadoka, or that they couldn't see him, even to drop Bato off, I know they were on a schedule but it wasn't that advanced, and Zuko's map of Aang's travels showed that Aang doesn't care about doubling back or getting distracted. Hell, the following episodes include going to a Fire Festival, and spending time hanging out at the Northern Air Temple. Were these somehow less distracting than Hadoka?

Wolf immediately apologizes and explains why. She's also the one who came clean with her guilt, of her own accord. Aang got found out and never told the truth or had a chance to communicate, and Katara was kind of an asshole too, digging through his stuff.

And Kipo immediately communicates that she was hurt but that she forgives Wolf and doesn't intend to leave Wolf. That her invitation to be a pack would last even when she had her dad.

Katara and Sokka kinda let Aang fester in his guilt and sadness.

Also Aang, unlike Wolf, didn't really have a reason to think his friends would abandon him. He felt left out but his friends and Bato were making every effort to include Aang in their culture and traditions. Aang felt left out on his own, and yes he was homesick, I acknowledge that, but the water tribe did nothing but accept and be kind to Aang.

Wolf had every reason to believe she would be abandoned. Her own family tried to kill her. Kipo up to that point does display some selfish and oblivious behaviors, including outright ignoring Wolf's warnings and going off alone while in the wolf observatory, while Wolf was dealing with her anxiety and trauma. (And why Wolf's reaction when Kipo came clean about lying also makes sense, when Wolf is hurt, she runs, and her friends know this about her and know they have to chase down Wolf to get her to talk about her feelings.)

Anyway I love both plotlines, don't get me wrong, preteens are impulsive and have fears.

I just prefer that Kipo and Wolf's friendship came first enough that hurt feelings wasn't enough to stop them from communicating in their own ways.

A reaction channel I watch posts Kipo reactions, and that's my favorite show. I was so excited to watch her watch the entire show. She was two seasons in when... she stopped uploading them. The videos kept getting blocked. She's posting them to Patreon. I'm really sad. I may stop watching since that's the only reason I watch her videos.

I’m curious about how long it’s been since the apocalypse? There is still metal structures and the buildings are relativey intact, realistically most of this would be reclaimed by nature within a century or two but Kipo’s reaction to the surface also indicated that her people has been down there for a long time.

From her reaction in the turtleneck wolf episode, it sounded like she freaked out pretty bad when she heard kipo released the frog. So I'm guessing she released an animal because she felt bad for it, and the pack seeing her as a traitor, tried to kill her

My reaction to Kipo episode 1: Burrow Girl

As promised if anyone cares, here’s my reaction to Season 1 Episode 1 of Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. MAJOR KIPO SPOILERS!

-*As Kipo gets washed up to the surface* Woah there child stop panicking. Wait...is that Karen Fukuhara?!

- *Kipo stops to play the guitar* 1. Honestly same girl 2. Either Kipo and the guitar is going to be a running theme or they just needed a good shot for the trailer.

* Kipo gets scared by Mandu’s many eyes* Wait can she look in two different directions and be fine? *Later when Mandu’s eyes looking in different directions cut Wolf in half in his vision* Damn I guess she can

- Wolf? You mean my new comfort character?

-Wolf and Kipo have such chaotic sibling vibes it’s great

- Kipo gets more costume changes in the first episode during that *finding clothes* montage than most characters get through the entire show.

- When Kipo saw the milk was from 2020 I genuinely expected Wolf to make some apocalypse joke about how everything went haywire in 2020 but I guess season 1 came out before 2020

- I hope those frogs come back their suits are impeccable

- “And maybe slight memory loss” Wolf I love you already but please be more cautious with that stick we all know Kipo is not going to be more careful around you just because you have it.

- “We’re officially sisters!” YESS I’m already expecting a 3rd season episode where Kipo gets reunited with her dad and brings Wolf with her

- Also wtf is a mute? It seems like it’s some kind of non-talking animal? Was Wolf’s wolf jacket a mute? Idk, but Wolf really doesn’t seem to like them.

- I fully expect for them to raise the bug baby. It must happen.

- Me about the soundtrack: talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before...

I watched Turning Red and it reminded me a lot of Kipo ehehe so of course i went and drew a little crossover.

LIO: Hugo’s gone, and a homemade gift isn’t going to convince that lunatic tyrant to suddenly be nice!

Ohhh, damn that’s, one hell of a reaction there.

On one end, I can see Lio’s point of view. I mean, hell, I literally made that point in the last post.

However, gog damn, seeing Kipo make that face at her dad. That’s the moment when she realized that her father gave up on Hugo a long time ago. Kipo still sees Scarlemagne as family, while her father does not.

And it’s also proof that Lio lost that optimistic side to him. It’s the reason he gave up on Song like he did. Lio’s pretty far gone himself.

Now I’m kind of hoping Kipo’s plan works. I mean, it may not, we may end this season a bleak note, but I kinda want Kipo to be right in having faith in Hugo.

Again, the show may not hand her victory so easily but...
