#also i've watched this show upwards of 7 times now and only this round noticed next to Qin Su is her maid#the one who speaks to the crowd at lotus pier later!
@peanutbutter-nutella I am making a separate post with these tags because I ALSO HAD NEVER NOTICED THAT AND I HAVE BEEN LOSING MY MIND ABOUT THIS INFORMATION ALL DAY
first! there's this little bit of business with Bicao in the background when NHS flings himself onto JGY. She looks anxious
Tumblr media
and then there's this quick glance at Qin Su
Tumblr media
and I'm yelling!
second! I'd always thought that Bicao was Madame Qin's maid exclusively and had remained in Laoling even after her death, and she chose to seek out/contact QS at this time specifically to tell her about the incest at NHS's insistence; the letter would therefore be something special, which is why QS gave it immediate attention in the middle of a busy formal event.
Instead, Bicao is serving QS and probably has been for awhile (since Madame Qin died? even sooner?), which means that Bicao has been living alongside QS and JGY as a married couple for YEARS knowing that they're siblings and only now decided to say something! That in turn suggests that NHS must've said or done something fairly major to make her change her mind and tell QS, which can't have been an easy decision, and now I wonder if her coming forward at the Lotus Pier #BelieveWomen Summit is not just because NHS asked her to, or to ensure people understood what drove QS to stab herself, but because QS's death has Bicao questioning if she made the right choice and she's desperate for some reassurance.

YilingWei Sect AU

___________
"Holy Shit!" Xiao Qing gasps, jumping up from the divan she'd lain on.
"Language, Shimei!" Deyao scolds her but is left ignored as the disciple scrambles to get her shoes and reaches for the door.
"Fuck my language-- I need to warn Wei-shushu!"
Worried by the behavior, the senior followed behind Xiao Qing as she made a mad dash through the corridors. "-Wait! Warn Wei-zhongzhu about what?!"
Blank pupils meet his for a spare second before they focus on the path forward.
"Cultivators! Gold, green, purple, blue-- many of them!"
The senior disciple makes a shocked gasp as he halts, Xiao Qing couldn't care less to look back at him. The Reverberant Hall was not a close distance from her junior quarters much to her dismay, and she couldn't waste her time!
They're walking through the streets of Yiling. A few of them booked buildings. Some golds are surrounding the forests around the Burial Mounds-
They were getting too close!
A strong pressure of wind shot past the junior disciple as her eyes caught sight of a crow in flight, heading towards the same destination.
The disciples stationed at the magistrate must have noticed them as well. It gets there only a few seconds before she does, only because she has the decency to knock first and announce her arrival before throwing her formalities out the window to kick the doors of the Hall open.
Her uncle sits in the middle of the hall, crow perched on his finger as it reports its findings to him.
"Wei-zhongzhu cultivators at bay, possibly seventy at arms. Further observations cannot be made, going into hiding." The crow squawks in its mocking tone, repeating what it's been told to say.
Wei Wuxian's expression is grave as he watches Xiao Qing enter panting with exhaustion.
"More than seventy, shushu.' she shakes her head, blank pupils shaking in anger.
"A hundred men at arms, Jins are scouting the graveyard forests. They're trying to find the entrance to the Burial Mounds."
He closed his eyes, feeling a headache forming at the edge of his skull. Rubbing the bridge between his eyes he hesitantly asks his niece,
"...which sects?"
Xiao Qing swallows fir air as she chases to calm herself, before she answered slowly. "...Qinghe Nie, Lanling Jin, Laoling Qin, Baling Ouyang, Yunmeng Jiang, Gusu Lan... and many more. Shushu." She visibly hesitated stating the last two.
His eyelids closed itself harder, burying his face deeper into his face as if it would hide him from the world.
He had expected this day to come, but he didn't think it would be so soon. They're not investigating that's for sure, Jins are scoping their domain, they have an army of cultivators in the town he protected. It's clear to anyone what their intentions were.
Of course they would get suspicious, Yiling Laozu and his criminal refuges have hidden away from the eyes of people, no news about them but a simple rumor that they've closed themselves off from the rest of the world.
Wei Wuxian sighs, stuck on a fork road of decisions. "What do you think, Wen Qing?"
The woman in red and white, who stood next to his dais was in deep thought.
"They're definitely not here to negotiate, with an army like that." She scoffs. "Neither are they willing to leave peacefully."
"Oh please, when do they ever." He snides.
The doctor sighs, "Either way. We don't want the innocent citizens outside getting involved in this. We should evacuate them."
Wei Wuxian nods, "Gather the chiefs and seniors." He ordered her, who immediately works.
"A-Qing, I need you to stay here. Your eyes will be needed"
His niece salutes, "Of course, shushu."
><
As soon as orders were given, everyone immediately set to work.
The senior disciples, those with more experience, were to descend the mountain stealthily and help the Yiling citizens evacuate in order to secure their safety.
Burial Mound residents were relocated to the Bamboo Dwellings deeper into the mountain and were not to leave the area until Wen Ning said otherwise.
Wen Qing and her students were in charge of stocking emergency rations, water, clothes, non-perishable items to hide away in case their supplies were cut off.
Junior disciples prepared emergency exits, secured hidden passage ways, and were tasked to guard the residents.
Heavy tension hung in the air as everyone moved with purpose, Xiao Qing could feel everything from the enclosed Red Room.
In a smaller room meant for more important meetings, stood the remaining chiefs and Wei-shushu.
They were discussing... something. Xiao Qing wasn't really focused on it, she was too busy keeping an eye on those Jin cultivators, making sure they didn't get too close to the gate of the mountains.
"They're scattered into five groups, shushu." She hisses.
"Any of them get close yet?" She shakes her head. "But I think it won't be long till they come across it.
The man clicks his tongue in irritance. Hearing this, Xiao Xingchen stands up from his seat, "Xue Yang, with me."
"I'll stall them for a few more hours, you need to be focused on this discussion A-Xian."
Wei-Shushu sighs, "Thank you Tang-ge."
"What are their true intentions?" Luo Qingyang mutters, placing tokens on the map to indicate which cultivators were where.
It's been 20 minutes since Xiao Xingchen and Xue Yang had descended to stall time, during that period, some Yaos have entered the fray to help the Jins search.
Wei Wuxian sighs, "We'll have to let them in."
"And what?" Wen Qing growls, "Let them burn our home down?"
"It won't be long until they find the gate. And even if we don't let them in-- they'll resolve to cutting off our water supply. Hell they might rampage the town!" The man groans, rubbing his temple gently.
Wen Qing opens her mouth to argue back, but before she can do that his niece gasps.
"They've... they've found the gate... Shushu."
Heavens fuck all.
><
Wei Wuxian walks pass the empty houses slowly, unwilling to pace it up towards the entrance of his home.
It woulld be no lie if he said he didn't want to meet any of the sects. Sometimes he wishes he hadn't the patience nor the consideration for these men, he sometimes dreams of kicking their asses so hard they fly back into their homes.
He sighs wilfully, Wei Yuan by his side notices his mood and smiles pitifully.
"We can always do this another day, ba." His son says. Ahhh what a loving child.
"Unfortunately, I don't think the sects would like that." Mo Xuanyu muses, his arms are folded and his posture is rightened, making him seem upright and intimidating.
Xue Yang cackles, "But then again, when have we ever cared for their feelings? They never gave shitwad about us!"
His son sighs, taking in his fellowmen's words in consideration. Although Wei Yuan has never experienced the world of the cultivation soceity; being holed up in a mountain and by extension its only town, it's safe to say he doesn't like them either-- in light of his childhood.
"We're only here to listen to their intentions. Anything else I will not permit." He tells them.
By then, they've walked enough that they can see the silhouettes behind the barrier of the mounds.
"But," Wei Wuxian hums, "If they attack first, I wouldn't be so keen."
It was basically permission, even though he just said the opposite. And it formed smiles on his wards' faces, ones that weren't as sweet and joyful.
Once they've reached the gates Wen Ning bows his head at him. The cultivators have long noticed his presence and have resolved to shout louder at him.
Wei Wuxian inhales deeply, closing his eyes to savir his last moments of peace.
The sect leader smiles, the corner of his lips visibly twitching.
"Welcome to the Burial Mounds, dear cultivators." He greets them.
The silence that comes after is refreshing.
But not as aggravating as the curses and yells that come after.

(...what about... fem jzx? xuanli lesbians 😍?)
If our children are girls, they'll be sworn sisters.
If we have sons, they'll be sworn brothers.
If one of us has a son, and the other has a daughter—why, then they'll be husband and wife.
__
"Who wants to be Jiang Wanyin's wife?" Jin Zixuan grumbles, after her cousin Ziyan finishes seeing the Jiang contingent out of the inn they rented in Caiyi. “He’s too loud, and he can’t control his temper. What’s more, I’ve heard that he gets jealous easily. That’s a terribly unattractive trait in any junzi, let alone a sect heir.”
“He is your intended, though,” Mianmian reminds her. “And unattractive or not, he’s going to be your husband. He’s not a bad sort, so why antagonize him now?”
“He’s not going to be my husband if I have anything to say about it,” Zixuan says darkly. She might not have any say now, of course—Mother was furious when Jin Zixuan asked if her marriage arrangement could be changed—but the fact remains that her betrothal had been changed once before; for at birth, she was engaged to the young master of Laoling Qin, but something had happened when she was around four, and her sworn sisterhood with Jiang Yanli was dissolved in favor of a betrothal with the latter’s younger brother.
No one bothered to inform Jin Zixuan of the reason behind her cancelled engagement to Qin Su. According to what her maids managed to find out, it had something to do with Qin-gongzi’s late mother; but Qin Su and Jin Zixuan have always gotten along well, so Zixuan has been planning to break her current betrothal and reinstate her old one ever since she had her hair-pinning ceremony.
“What if A-Su and I eloped?” she wonders aloud, as Mianmian turns down the covers of her bed and tucks a pair of fragrance pouches under the pillow. “Mother wouldn’t buy it if I pretended to be in love with him, but if we bow to earth and heaven at a temple somewhere and run away to have our marriage night, she’ll have to accept it. No one else would have me then.”
At that, her maid Yuliang emerges from behind the privacy screen with her hands clasped on her breast.
“Xiaojie, you should do it,” she urges, with such bright eyes that Mianmian pokes her cheeks and bursts into laughter. “You keep saying that you and Young Master Qin are only friends, but isn’t friendship the best foundation for a good marriage?”
Jin Zixuan nods. Whatever her mother might think, she really isn’t in love with Qin Su; and as far as she knows, Qin Su has never been in love with her. But anything would be better than marrying Jiang Wanyin of all people and moving to Lotus Pier—and if this betrothal goes ahead, Zixuan will have to spend the rest of her life on a lake in the middle of nowhere, tending a household that refuses to employ a sufficient number of servants and pretending to smile whenever Jiang Wanyin tries to say something clever.
“You’re right,” Jin Zixuan says decisively. At her right, she hears Mianmian let out a gasp of excitement. “No one will be watching me at the Cloud Recesses. I’ll write to A-Su as soon as I can and tell him to get ready, and then—if he agrees—we’ll set a date to run away.”
It will be a scandal, Zixuan knows; but the thrill of it all would make Lanling look favorably on her marriage, and Mother won’t be able to interfere after Zixuan becomes Qin-gongzi’s lawful wife.
She writes to him on her fourth night at the Cloud Recesses, explaining her situation and imploring her friend to take pity on her circumstances: that is, if he has no beloved in his heart already. Jin Zixuan is not shameless enough to come between two people who love each other, and she did hear that Qin Cangye might be considering an arrangement with Anping Rong’s first daughter.
Luckily, Qin Su writes back and tells her that he scarcely knows the young lady in question. Qin Cangye is determined to see the prospective engagement through sometime within the next year, which means that Qin Su will have to find a love match within that time in order to refuse Rong Yan; and since Zixuan is offering, Qin Su is more than willing to rebel against his father and marry her.
“He accepted,” she whispers to Mianmian, early the next week. “Qin-shushu wants him to marry Anping Rong’s young mistress sometime next year, but A-Su doesn’t even know her. So, he’s agreed to go along with my plan.”
The date of their elopement is tentatively set for Qixi night, close to the end of the lecture courses in Gusu. Qin Su will have to prepare a residence for Jin Zixuan without anyone discovering their plan, so Zixuan can’t leave the Cloud Recesses right away; but the appointed day arrives so quickly that it feels like no time has passed at all, and before Zixuan can quite realize the enormity of what she and Young Master Qin are about to do, she finds herself escaping from her dormitory at half a shichen before midnight on Qixi.
Jin Zixuan didn’t bring much luggage with her. She will have to fly to the outskirts of Laoling alone, and completely unnoticed; so she took a few sets of robes, some money, and a travel kit stolen from the disciples’ supply chamber.
With her necessities accounted for, she crosses the warded boundary that separates the Cloud Recesses from the surrounding mountains, and sets off towards the flickering lights of Caiyi.
If freedom had a taste, she thinks, it would taste like this: like cold night air and damp fog on her lips, and the fragrance of crushed pine needles from the trees slipping away beneath her feet.
Jin Zixuan closes her eyes at the scent, still hardly daring to believe that her plan had actually worked. Her future will be properly secured when she sees Mianmian and Yuliang again—for as Young Madam Qin, she won’t have to live far from Lanling, and she can go home to visit Mother and Father as often as she likes.
Everything has turned out perfectly: or it will, as soon as she reaches the meeting place A-Su mentioned in his letter. What is more, even Jiang Wanyin might find happiness after the gossip about her wedding dies down. Zixuan and Qin Su were engaged when they were children, so the jianghu will believe that Zixuan ran away out of love for her first intended husband, not because she disliked her current one.
Jiang Wanyin ought to be grateful, she laughs to herself. He always said I was too proud, and I’ve always thought he was rude. We’re equal in that way: he’s never liked me, and I’ve never liked him. But by running away with Qin Su, instead of finding myself a real lover, I’ve made Jiang-gongzi’s path forward as smooth as it can possibly be. No one will blame him for my choice; and since my betrothal to A-Su came first, no one will blame me, either.
But then—just as Zixuan passes over the ravine where the Caiyi river flows down from the mountains—she hears someone calling her name through the mist, so faintly that she decides she must have imagined it.
Jin Zixuan shudders and presses on, picking up speed and flying another li amid a growing sense of unease. She bypasses Caiyi in the next half-hour, turning towards Laoling; but then, just as the glow of the village begins to recede behind her, a small purple figure bursts out of the fog and hurtles towards Jin Zixuan like a particularly determined bat on the hunt.
“Zixuan!” the figure shrieks, cupping its hands around its mouth. “Zixuan, it’s Yanli! Please come back! You can’t run away to marry Young Master Qin!”
Zixuan kicks Suihua around and turns to face her pursuer.
“Who told you?” she demands. “Well, never mind—that’s not important. It’s none of your business, so go back to the Cloud Recesses.”
“I overheard Luo Qingyang talking to Yuliang,” Jiang Yanli gasps. “I wasn’t going to tell anyone, I swear it—but they said that you were on your way to meet Qin-gongzi, so I had to come after you. Please, just—stop for a moment, Jin-guniang, I can’t—“
“Go away. I don’t want to marry Jiang-gongzi, so I’ll do as I please.”
Zixuan turns away, muttering under her breath; but a split-second later, she hears Jiang Yanli scream, and looks back to find both her and her sword tumbling towards the lake below.
Jin Zixuan shrieks in alarm and dives after her. This was another strike against the entire Jiang family—for Jiang Wanyin knows nothing of delicacy, Jiang Yanli is a soft-hearted fool, and their adopted brother is some brand of strange that Jin Zixuan hasn’t worked out yet—but she can’t let Jiang-guniang get hurt, so she plunges downward as quickly as she can and catches her quarry barely ten feet above the water.
“What’s wrong with you?” she growls, as Jiang Yanli’s jian splashes into Lake Biling and disappears under the surface. “Everyone knows you can barely even stand on your sword, let alone fly twenty li by yourself. Have you taken leave of your senses?”
Jiang Yanli bursts into tears.
“You can’t marry Qin Hesheng,” she blubbers, sobbing all over the front of Jin Zixuan’s robes. “It has nothing to do with A-Cheng, I—”
“I’m going to leave you at an inn and find someone to look after you,” Jin Zixuan interrupts, biting back an oath with some difficulty. “I’m sure you meant well, but I have my own considerations. Please try to understand, Maiden Jiang.”
To her dismay, Jiang Yanli cries even harder. “It’s you who doesn’t understand!” she wails. “Listen to me! You can’t run away with Qin Hesheng, because Qin-gongzi is your brother!”
Jin Zixuan stops dead and nearly falls, too bewildered to be angry with her. “What?”
“There’s no good way to say it, so I’ll just tell you,” Jiang Yanli says, trying to wipe her face with her sleeve. “Qin Hesheng isn’t Qin Cangye’s son by blood. He’s your father’s.”
Jin Zixuan drops her.
Jiang Yanli screams in terror, her rail-thin limbs flailing helplessly in the air, but Zixuan manages to regain her wits in time to catch her again.
“What do you mean?” she wheezes. She’s always known that her father hasn’t been faithful to Mother—for he visits brothels when he leaves the Jinlintai on business, like most men of the gentry do—but the late Madam Qin was a noblewoman, the wife of his dearest friend! What’s more, Father would never have betrothed Zixuan—his only daughter—to a boy who might be her brother, so—
“Your father forced himself on Duan Luying nine months before Qin-gongzi was born,” Jiang Yanli whispers, lying limply in Zixuan’s arms like a sack of wet rice. “Your mother came to tell mine about it just after she broke your first engagement. They both thought I was in bed, so they didn’t bother to lock the door. But I wanted to sleep with A-Cheng in the nursery, and I had to pass by Mother’s office to get there, so...I overheard. I’m sorry.”
Jin Zixuan shakes her head violently. “Father wouldn’t have done such a thing. And even if he did have an affair with Madam Qin, he would have known if he was A-Su’s father. You’re wrong.”
Jiang Yanli looks up and meets Jin Zixuan’s eyes.
“You need not take my word for it,” she says quietly. “There are talismans you can use, or arrays that determine paternity from a few strands of hair. But Zixuan, if you elope with Qin-gongzi now—you will have to marry him, brother or not, or denounce your father before the entire jianghu with evidence of his crimes. Those are your only choices. And if you have a child by Qin Hesheng, your shared blood might do the baby harm. As a mother, could you bear it if such a thing were to happen?”
Zixuan says nothing more, after that.
She makes her way to the far shore of Biling Lake, Jiang Yanli a deadweight in her arms; and after she reaches the bank, she puts her unwieldy burden down and collapses onto the sand.
“You’re telling the truth,” she says at last, staring down at her knees. “Either that, or you believe that you are. You’re not lying to me.”
Jiang Yanli shivers beneath her thin violet gown.
“No, of course not. I would never.”
“Then I suppose you’re right,” Jin Zixuan says, wiping her eyes. “I still don’t believe that Father would have had an affair with Qin-shushu’s wife, much less done...done that. You were just a child when my engagement was broken, so maybe you misunderstood what Mother said. But since you’re not lying, I’ll have to investigate this matter myself. As you say, something like this might mar my children in the future. I can’t take such a risk without finding out the truth.”
Yanli nods. “You could write to Jin-furen,” she mumbles. “If she thinks you already know, she’ll probably just admit it.”
She curls up into a ball and sneezes three times; and then she begins to cough.
“You’ve caught cold,” Jin Zixuan says numbly. “That won’t do. Isn’t your health quite frail?”
“It’s not so bad as all that,” Jiang Yanli tries to assure her. But Zixuan ignores her and gets to her feet, sweeping Jiang Yanli back into her arms before she sets off for the safety of Caiyi.
“You need a hot bath, and some food,” she insists. She puts her cheek against Jiang Yanli’s brow to check her temperature, and discovers that her skin is warmer than it should be—so she picks up her pace, brushing off Yanli’s protests, and does not dare to lower her guard until her charge is tucked into bed at an inn in Caiyi.
After Yanli forces down some supper, Jin Zixuan goes back into the village to roust one of the physicians in the infirmary. While the doctor tends to Jiang Yanli, Jin Zixuan shuts herself into the next room away and writes a letter to Qin Su; and after the doctor and her messenger butterfly depart, Zixuan makes her way upstairs to check on her would-be sister-in-law.
Jiang Yanli is asleep when she enters, breathing peacefully with one soft hand tucked beneath her head. Zixuan puts another blanket over her, for fear that her cold might worsen during the night, and then she retreats to the empty bed on the other side of the room.
“Maiden Jiang,” she says at last. “I can only hope you were mistaken, but...”
Jiang Yanli sleeps on, and does not reply.
For some reason, Jin Zixuan’s eyes fill with tears.
“Good night, then,” Zixuan whispers, clambering into her own bed. “Sleep well, Yanli—and thank you.”

Ask games are fun! ❤️ 👻 🎁 :)
ROBIN! 😊 Hi~ My perennial friend~ Always enabling me~
For this ask game~ Here
❤️ What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic? Round 2 of this question, I need to go find another line...[dial up noises]... Gonna cheat and say it's the last line here that inspired this art HERE! From Jiaoren!JC AU, of course. I really don't think I'll ever be that good at writing again. //dreamy sigh// Crying and sobbing over this one. Just STAY WWX!! 😭😭😭
Wèi Wúxiàn’s arms tighten around him. “Let’s walk back together, just lean on me.” “It’s fine.” “Take a step. I got you.” “I know how to walk.” But now it’s like the second night he tried, clinging to Wèi Wúxiàn’s shoulders and wishing he were in the water instead. And wishing that Wèi Wúxiàn would just stay so he wouldn’t fall at all.
👻 What is your wildest headcanon? Round 3 of this question!! I'm really boring, lovelies, my headcanons aren't that wild in general. Like I try to be very reasonable about what makes sense to extrapolate from canon material. //spins the wheel// May I interest you in the headcanon that (novel) Mianmian is from the Laoling Qin sect? 1. In a sect big enough to be worth taking disciples hostage during Evil Summer Camp. 2. Regarded well enough to have a seat at the Midnight Meeting to complain about (in her case, defend) WWX. Possibly meaning she was in the SSC too, during which Qin Su was known to be rescued by JGY (who now does the seating arrangements). 3. Though Qin Su's mother had her maid Bicao, (Watsonian observation) Qin Su has no maid by the time we see her, which coincidently is also after Mianmian has already left her sect. 🔍 Is any of this related? Who knows!

🎁 Have a piece of a WIP you want to share? Round 2 of sharing time~ Snippet of upcoming chapter for JC Gets a Divorce AU
"Aiya! I wanted to see the academy again for nostalgia's sake. A-Líng’s there you know? I was hoping to see him and turns out he's friends with Jǐngyí so that worked out. He was mad you didn't show up though. Madder still when I made excuses for you. Just like his father, right? I can't catch a break."  "It's your fault because you won't just suck it up and talk to a-Jiě. What the fuck is wrong with you Wèi Wúxiàn?" Seriously.... SERIOUSLY!  For the first time since Wèi Wúxiàn trapezed back into Jiāng Chéng's life, he didn't have enough face to take the shame. All the light goes out him, and the bruises under his eyes become pronounced. "How would you tell her you never called because you knew she would talk you into returning?"  He feels glued to the ground. He feels like he's become a pillar holding up all the world. He can barely move, but what he can manage means he's straightening the cuff of his right sleeve. It's not a nervous tick. It isn't.  He has jaw pain trying to make the words leave his tongue and get past his teeth. "I would have let her. I would not have left."
Get his ass, JC! BWahahah ... aheM! Anyway...
🌟⭐✨⭐🌟✨🌟
I have so many WIPs now just hanging out for all the world to see and it makes me very nervous that they aren't complete, but it's so much fun sharing them regardless. Phew! Okay I got no work done today, that was amazing, thanks for playing!! 😘

Some weeks later~
These days A-Yao was taking care of his pregnant wife.
Yao: *kisses her forehead* how are you dear?
Qin Su: I'm ok. Just craving.
Yao: what are you craving. I'll get it for you.
Qin Su: strawberries and peaches.
Yao: that's it?
Qin Su: can you coat them with salt?
Yao: with salt? Sure.
Qin Su: tell the staff to coat them.
You're Huangdi after all.
Yao: *smiles* I'll do anything to make you comfortable nonetheless.
Qin Su: awww.
Can they be palace grown fruits? Because I'm your empress, right?
Yao: definitely. Remember we have a garden here.
And yes. *kisses* you are my empress.
Qin Su: *hugs* I'm glad Lan Xichen isn't your empress.
Yao: *adoring her clinginess* no dear.
Are you jealous of A-Huan?
Qin Su: mhm.
Yao: don't be.
Ok. let me go get you your fruits in our  strawberry garden. It also has a  couple of peach trees.
I'll pick them.
Qin Su: you're so so sweet.
Yao: it's my duty.
Anyways, A-Su, sadly tomorrow I'll be busy with imperial court and a few meetings.
I'll check up on you afterwards, ok?
Qin Su: that's alright. But I would love to hug your floof for comfort tomorrow.
Yao: hmm maybe I can split myself as a hulijing.
Qin Su: ah, that will work.
*hugs* I know you're busy and very hardworking.
Yao: mn.
I must run the empire for my children.
Qin Su: aw
Yao: I was already planning on what to give them, empire wise.
Rusong has Yunping and Laoling, and Jingyi has Gusu and Caiyi.
The both have mansions across the empire.
Our future child will have the same things.
I'll give them Moling and Qinghe
Qin su: that's a great idea.
I love how you split the Jianghu amongst them.
Yao: they deserve the best.
Qin Su: yes, they do.
Yao: *gently grabs her hand* I'll be back.
Qin Su: ok Huangdi.
Yao: Bicao. Get the staff.
They must stay here most of the time. Especially tomorrow.
Bicao: yes Huangdi.
Qin Su: you pamper me so much.
Yao: definitely.
~~
Afterwards, when he went down the hall, he saw team dimple~ who stuffed cloth in their robes to make it look as if they're pregnant.
Xue yang: Jiggylicious!
Mo xuanyu: we're pregnant for you!
You're hella hot.
Xue yang: we were jacked up by a hulijing, heehee.
Right shanshan?
Su she: *blushing* y..yea...
Yao: ah team d. You have made me the happiest person in the world.
What do you need?
Mo xuanyu: a kiss.
Yao: sure. *kisses*
Mo xuanyu: *grinning and squealing*
Yao: *kisses Su Minshan*
Su she: *blushing and melting*
Huangdi, your kisses are so soft. *kisses his hand*
Yao: mn, thank you.
*kisses xue yang*
Xue yang: *hugs him tightly and makes out with him a bit* Jiggy.
Yao: yangyang.
Xue yang: you're so gorgeous.
Where are you going, gorgeous?
Yao: I'm going to pick some strawberries and peaches for A-Su.
She's craving them.
Accompany me.
Su she: certainly Huangdi. We'll do it for you, because we won't let you lift a finger.
Mo xuanyu: yea Yao gege.
Xue yang: sit and look pretty, while we do it.
Yao: thank you team d.
Su she: I'll shelter you from the sun.
It's really sunny out.
Mo xuanyu: I'll get some staff.
Yao: can you three get rid of the fake stomachs first? *laughing*
Team dimple: oh, right.
Now in their strawberry garden, team dimple took charge by picking the fruits while Minshan sheltered Ayao with an umbrella.
A-Yao was initially going to pick them, but team d won't let him lift a finger.
Xiying: Huangdi. We put some baby shower details on your desk.
You can thick them off and give us feedback later.
Yao: thank you so much. I'll read through them.
Xiying: we have hired lion dancers too.
Yao: two lion dance groups, right? One for us and one for the city?
Xiying: as you requested. Yes.
Yao: Minshan. Give him some pocket money for me.
I didnt bring my pouch, and these days I'm feeling more generous.
Su she: of course. *hands him some money*
Xiying: thank you Huangdi, and Xiandu.
Su she: Huangdi. I'm really happy for you!
Yao: thank you, dear.
Su she: it makes the environment so positive and calm. I hope Huaisang doesn't act up like an annoying rash.
Yao: I hope not.
Anyways, I'll be with A-Su. He can't cause any drama.
Xue yang: Jiggybun! We got your fruit!
Mo xuanyu: do they look sweet, Yao gege?
Yangyang and I ate a couple.
Please don't tell jiejie.
Yao: they do look lovely. A-Su won't know a thing.
Xue yang: why does she want a salty fruits? She could have made tonghulus out of them.
Yao: it's just her craving I guess.
She used to crave sour and spicy things when pregnant with Rusong.
On the other side, Rusong was playing the quqin for A-Su.
Qin Su: *touches her tummy* baby. Are you enjoying your big brother's music?
He'll teach you the guqin soon.
Rusong: *smiling*
Qin Su: let's listen.
Rusong: A-Yi. Why don't you play the flute as well?
Jingyi: good idea!
Qin Su: I'm loving the private orchestra.
It's so relaxing.
Rusong: thank you. I think I'll play the guqin more often for you and my baby sibling.
Qin Su: aww, Song'er, I would love that!
Yao: *enters with Qin Su's fruits* dear.
Qin Su: A-Yao!
Yao: Song'er, Yi'er. You're playing for your younger sibling? That's really adorable!
Rusong: yea, A-Die. We have to entertain our future sibling.
And music sets a soothing environment.
Yao: it is.
Jingyi: hence we volunteered.
Yao: you two are perfect.
A-Su. I brought you your salt coated fruits.
I requested that they don't put too much salt. It's not good for your BP.
Qin Su: they look delicious though! *blush* would you feed me?
Yao: certainly.
Rusong: *starts playing the guqin again*
~~~
On the other hand, a cloaked guy, who happened to be nie huaisang with a disguised voice, went to meet Sisi.
Huaisang: what are you doing madam?
Sisi: I'm heading to do my goddess' nails.
Huaisang: oh. Can I meet her?
Sisi: dressed like that?
Sorry, but you look like a thief.
Huaisang: I swear I'm not a thief!
Sisi: * unsheaths her daggar*
Huaisang: *trembling* don't kill me, don't kill me, don't kill me, don't kill me, don't kill me.
Sisi: I won't, if you behave yourself.
Huaisang: can I meet, Miss Meng?
Sisi: why?
Huaisang: it's urgent.
Sisi:  follow me.
Huaisang: ok.
Sisi: *still holding up her dagger*
Huaisang: so you and Miss meng are close?
Sisi: yes. She's my muse.
I'm fortunate to have her company.
.
Sisi: Huanghou jiejie! Some cloaked guy wants to see you.
Huaisang: *standing still in her disguise*
Sisi: great her.
Huaisang: g...greetings....taihou.
Meng shi: Nie gui fei, why are you wearing a cloak? It's not winter.
Huaisang: *started*
Sisi: Nie gui fei?!! *pulls off his cloak*
Jiejie I didn't know!
Meng Shi: it's fine. And he's my son's concubine anyways.
I just don't know why he's incognito.
Huaisang: well. This is awkward.
Sisi: *pulls out a sword* what do you want?! You don't just dress like a thief to meet Huanghou jiejie or Huangdi.
Huaisang: why do you have so much weapons? Aren't the head maid?? Don't kill me pleeessseeee!!
Sisi: answer my question first.
Meng Shi: don't rough him up. He faints when he gets scared.
Like a possum.
Sisi: *puts away her weapons*
Huaisang: how do you know it was me, taihou?
Meng Shi: instincts. And your shoe has a tiny stitching of a type of leaf from a tree that's native to Qinghe.
The only two Qinghe members who can  enter Jing Manor freely is A-Yao's concubines.
Huaisang: dang it. I thought that I would have looked stylish with this shoe I got for my birthday last year! You're so smart.
Sisi: how didn't I notice that? Anyways you are superior.
Meng Shi: it's tiny. So it would go unnoticed.
Sisi: mn.
Meng Shi: what's up, Nie gui fei?
Huaisang: *clears throat* taihou.
Got Meng Furen pregnant. San ge and team dimple are covering it up.
Meng shi: how dare you!!
Huaisang: it's the truth, taihou.
I snuck in and do the do with the empress.
Meng Shi: *slaps*
Huaisang: *falls on the floor while holding his face*
Meng Shi: you blame A-Su for infidelity and my son of lying?!
What do you want!
Huaisang: t...t....taihou....I can explain....
Meng Shi: why are you always causing chaos!
Wait til your brother hears about this.
Huaisang: please please! Don't tell my brother! Anybody but him! He'll ground me and take away my fans and art supply!
Sisi: should I lock him up?!
Meng Shi: no. I have a better punishment for him. But that will wait.
Sisi: *picks him up from off the floor*
You have 10 minutes to explain!
Meng shi: always some plot to harm my son and his family.
Huaisang: taihou. *sniffles* I have always dreamt of being in the spotlight, along with money, and power.
Sometimes I just want to take Meng Furen's place. And sometimes even Huangdi's.
Meng Shi: *slaps him again* so you want to usurp Yao'er's power!
Huaisang: *cries* and he seduced dage!
Meng Shi: that's not his fault, Huaisang! What if Yao'er is attractive!
Look. It's about time you act like a concubine.
Sisi: and stop scheming!
Huaisamg: but taihou. It's good for the plot.
Meng shi: enough!
Huaisang: *trembles*
Meng Shi: we still can't forget that you're the one caused A-Yao and A-Su to split.
Sisi: does Huangdi know about this?
Should I call Yao'er here?!
Meng Shi: no, don't bother him. And he's maybe with A-Su.
Yes, he knows about it, but he's giving Huaisang a chance to change.
Huaisang: it wasn't me! I swear!
It was sect leader Yao!
Meng shi: that vile man was just a median who can't keep his mouth shut!
The blabbermouth of the Jianghu. And you had orchestrated everything.
Huaisang: it....it was a mistake....I never should have......I don't know anything....
Meng Shi: let let me remind you then.
When you spread false and inappropriate rumors about A-Yao and A-Su. Sect leader Yao had stretched it further and added in poor little Rusong.
The fox spirits were with her but the Jianghu started gossiping.
A-Yao was afraid that they would start attacking A-Su and tarnishing her character.
So he decided to part ways with her.
A-Su went back to Laoling and A-Yao stayed in Jingjing and Lanling.
They were still chill with each other, and much in love. Yet they had to act divorced.
Little Song'er went back and forth from Laoling to Jingjing.
Huaisang: *sniffles* I'm....I'm ashamed....I just love chaos I guess.
Meng Shi: not towards my son! *goes to slap him again*
Huaisang: I'm sorry! *kneels* don't slap me again! My face is already red and swollen!
It was just an attempt to take her place!
Meng Shi: Qin Su and A-Yao are happy together.
And I don't want you meddling in their relationship!
Do you understand?
Huaisang: mhm. *sobbing*
Meng Shi: and if you plan to get rid of the Mengs. Just know we're immortal, and would fight for our empire.
Sisi: (Huanghou jiejie is so hot)
Huaisang: *speechless*
Meng shi: go walk through the streets with your swollen face and tell your dage about your crimes!
Sisi: leave!
Huaisang: *runs*
Meng Shi: ugh.
Sisi. Make me some tea.
Sisi: sure Huanghou jiejie. *supports her to sit*
Meng Shi: why is he so shady? When would he act like a proper concubine? When?
Another attendant: *massaging her scalp*
Meng shi: I'm watching those Nies.
~~~
Meanwhile, with A-Yao and Qin su.
Yao: *feeds her some tea, then wipes her mouth* are you good?
Qin Su: yea Huangdi.
And those fruits were so delicious.
I really needed that.
Yao: hmm. Glad you enjoyed.
Qin Su: did you think of any names, dear?
Yao: I'm thinking for a boy Meng Zhu.
And for a girl, I'm thinking of Meng Taihua.
Qin Su: those are lovely.
Taihua is a sweet name.
Yao: yes!
We'll reveal the name for the baby shower.
Qin su: *smiling* I agree.
Yao: *kisses*
Qin Su: *does the same*
Yao: do you have any names in mind?
Qin Su: I was thinking of a few, but I love your suggestions.
Meng Ru Taihua and Meng Ru Zhu.
It's really regal too.
Yao: Tai Gongzhu or Zhu Wangzi.
Qin Su: *snuggles* perfect.

@veraverorum issued a little ficlet challenge on the xisang server. Write a ficlet 500-1000 words inspired by the provided song lyrics... I made an attempt (that is not actually xisang, but, um… I think that’s okay?)
Huge thank you to @plotdesigner for feedback and bouncing ideas!! <33
Prompt lyrics are:
“Can’t get revenge and keep a spotless reputation / sometimes revenge is a choice you gotta make”
Mama’s broken heart - Miranda Lambert
(also this a little darker than my usual stuff. sorry? maybe the next prompt will inspire fluffier things ;w;)
-
She is supposed to be a good wife.
Qin Su’s lips quiver as she hurries out of the Fragrance Pavilion, keeping to the shadows and pressing the bundle in her arms close to her chest. The courtyard is as still as death (no, not death, she can’t think like that now), and she tries to pretend she’s back in Laoling deep into one of her mother’s lessons.
She puts them all into practice as she makes her escape. If the usual guards were present, she is certain they wouldn’t notice her at all, but instead there is no opposition at all blocking her path.
They won’t come until the morning; she knows it now. In the morning, they will see the mess. The bloodstains painting the walls (it’ll be so hard to clean), the bodies dead on the floor. She’d killed them quickly, a single stab just as her mother taught her, before they even realized she was in the room. They fell to the floor like toys knocked clumsily off a desk, not even a final groan escaping their lips.
She wishes she hadn’t been so efficient. A little more to the left and they would have suffered so painfully. But any different and they might have woken Rusong. He’s still such a fussy child when it comes to bedtime. It always took so long to tuck him in at night and her heart lurches as she thinks how she might have done it for the last time today if she hadn’t noticed.
Rusong is asleep now. He stirred when she took him from the room, but fortunately remained just groggy enough (and just receptive enough to a harmless sleeping draught) to fall back into his dreams in his mother’s arms where he remained since, his small chubby arms wrapped securely around her neck.
Qin Su kisses his forehead, both for his comfort and her own. She’s glad he didn’t have to see anything. He’ll have to endure so much because of her now. She really is such an awful wife, and she knows she’ll be called an awful mother too.
In the morning, they will wonder how the assassins reached the room. Qin Su will only wonder how her husband dared let them.
She knew right away that something was wrong. A-Yao’s strange behavior, the way he looked at Rusong, the little changes around Koi Tower, always for the worse, exposing so many little security holes. Her instincts screamed at her to confront him, but she always stopped herself, remembering her mother’s very first lesson when she’d put a knife into six-year-old Qin Su’s hands and made her promise never to reveal their family legacy. She wrote it off as stress over his watchtowers.
She had always wanted to be a good wife to him. Love him, and support him, and occasionally use her scant talents to secretly dispose of his enemies. He had so many of them, the poor man. She would have taken care of them for him this time too.
She had never imagined that he would use them instead to harm her son.
He will pay.
But first, Rusong’s safety.
Outside Koi Tower, Qin Su steps on her sword and takes to the skies. The night air is brisk, cooling the worst of her frenzy, and focusing her attention back to little Rusong, who twitches in his sleep. She cradles him gently and whispers soothing words (it’s his first time up in the air with her – he’s flown with his father of course, but she is so much clumsier, if he woke up he would be so scared), and inwardly, wonders where to go.
The best option would be to disappear but she had left in such a hurry, she only had time to take her knife and a blanket for Rusong. On her own she might manage, but what would become of her son?
She considers her maiden home, but to show up like this and make her aging father complicit?
No. She won’t drag him down with her. The same for her few good friends.
She can’t go to Sect Leader Lan or Sect Leader Jiang either. How would she explain herself? And with how close they are to her husband, why would they listen?
She thinks some more, and in the end there’s only one choice, and she only hopes she’s bundled Rusong up well enough for the trip. He gets cold so easily.
It’s almost daybreak when she finally reaches the Unclean Realm, almost time for them to discover her disappearance and her… handiwork.
She wonders what her husband will say. She wonders how quickly he’ll find her. He will find her, she knows. After many hours in the air dreading it, she now welcomes it.
The Nie sect’s guards balk at the sight of her. A commotion is raised as their sect leader is dragged from his bed to meet her. They kindly offer a bed to lay Rusong down in, but Qin Su can’t let him go, not just yet.
And so, Rusong still breathes softly into her shoulder when Nie Huaisang finally stumbles into the room, rubbing sleep from his eyes and fastening his hastily thrown on robes.
“Sect Leader Nie,” she rises, sounding tearful and miserable and sad and all the other things she’s locked away for now. “I’ve left my husband. Won’t you help me?”
Nie Huaisang flails and stammers, looking like he wants to be anywhere else in the world right, visibly terrified as Qin Su presses.
He has to agree, she thinks, because Nie Huaisang might be close to her husband but he is also foolish and cowardly and won’t ask unwanted questions.
He’ll be someone who will get A-Yao to drop his guard, just for a moment, just long enough for Qin Su to stab him.
Qin Su will be an awful wife, mother, daughter and whatever else she needs to be.
It’s a small price to pay for her revenge.

Is the first time Wen Qing receives a petitioner, the Dafan Wen have been living in the Burial Mounds for almost a year now, along with all the other refugees and rogue cultivators that have arrived at the place, there are enough people in the community to actually be called a sect, so she, Meng Yao, and their Yiling Laozu have been working together to formalize it. Is good that Wei Wuxian has such a reputation as a granting wishes demon since most of their first night-hunts requests came that way, so after dealing with a certain number of fierce corpses, vengeful ghosts, and restless souls, the town of Yiling started to acknowledge them as cultivators, and their time as a proper sect began. Is also thanks to that, that Wen Qing and her family were able to start working as healers in town (giving the chance to the old one to finally retire)
Among the multiple hours of paperwork, organization, farming, and healing, the Yiling Laozu keeps granting wishes. It’s really not as divine or demonic as it may seem, is just Wei Wuxian having or inventing a talisman or array for almost everything and accepting any stray that comes wandering to their dark, foggy gates; every now and then others from the sect will let them in Wei Ying’s place, like a few months ago when Meng Yao came in with a young woman and another of Jin Guangshan’s bastards in tow. So it’s not unusual for their members to find someone near the Burial Mound’s shrine, waiting to have an audience with the Yiling Patriarch… like now.
Wen Qing sees a kneeling figure by the entrance of the Burial Mounds, she sighs as she readjusts her weekly purchases, as she comes close though her eyes widen. She wasn’t inside Wen Ruohan's inner circle for long, but it was enough for her to attend several discussion conferences as her uncle’s head physician, which was sufficient to collect information about every sect leader, their families, and head disciples, and enough to identify Madam Qin despite the cheaper-looking robes. Wen Qing sighs heavily again
“Excuse me” she calls suddenly, the Laoling's Sect Leader’s Wife doesn’t flinch out of pure grace, even so, Wen Qing notices a paleness to her skin that cannot be healthy… but what the hell is doing someone like her so far away from her home? “I’m sorry, may I help you with something?” she tries to channel her inner Meng Yao to assist the older lady (he is so charming when he wants to be, the fucker)
The woman looks at her for a while before also recognizing her
“Young Lady Wen” she whispers as she bows “We thought Wen Ruohan killed you and your branch” Wen Qing bows back as much as she can
“I was afraid he would, so we left” she answers honestly “Madam Qin, I wasn’t expecting to see you today” or never actually “Is there anything I can do for you?” the woman seems to straighten up
“I have a request for the Yiling Patriarch”
"I see..." Wen Qing nods “Follow me, please” she says as she opens the intricate wards Wei Wuxian put around the Burial Mounds years ago
Inside the 'village', she gives the purchases to her younger brother and guides the woman to the Demon Slaughtering Palace, specifically to Wei Wuxian’s office, she knocks three times, the exact amount to indicate she comes with an outsider. The door opens and the Yiling Patriarch is in full get-up, resentful veil and all
“Yiling Laozu” Madam Qin bows “I humbly ask for your aid”
Wei Wuxian exchanges a look with the healer. Granting wishes for years made him develop a weird sixth sense to figure out what people might ask of him, and now he suspects this wish in particular, might be one of those... sensitive content ones
“I hope you don't mind if Wen Qing stays?" he asks, his tone soft despite the slight changes thanks to his camouflage spell "Depending on the request I may need her expertise”
Madam Qin tightens her jaw but nods
“I wish to protect my daughter” she says and proceeds to tell her story. Wen Qing is horrified and more so at the fact that it doesn’t surprise her, god knows how many stories like that she heard and treat during her stay in Wen Ruohan’s court at the hands of Wen Chao and Wen Xu, and yet, apparently, Jin Guangshan’s past acts aren’t the worst part “My daughter is 15 years old,” the Madam’s voice trembles “is his daughter, even if he doesn’t know and he-“ her fists are practically white as she takes a deep breath to control herself “He always has this look with her recently in every conference, a predator looking at his prey, I should know since I was subject to that same look fifteen years ago”
Wei Wuxian frowns, anger barely contained to avoid overwhelming the ladies with waves of resentful and spiritual energy. He takes a deep breath
"This is a sanctuary," he explains the Madam "if you or your daughter are in need of help, the Burial Mounds will always be open for you..." he then lets a smirk take over his face even if it's hiding behind the veil "But I do have some things that could protect your daughter and have a little of payback, it won't restore what has been done to you neither bring justice but it can avoid future... incidents, now it's just about how much you are willing to pay" it has always been interesting to Wei Wuxian, what people is ready to give for their desires, it's something Wen Qing always scold him for, but that Meng Yao understandably shares with him
Madam Qin's expression turns stony
"To protect my daughter? Not even all the Jin's wealth would be enough" she declares "Name your price Yiling Laozu and I shall deliver... whatever it takes"
Sensing her determination, and with several flashbacks of Meng Shi and Mo Ning, Wen Qing and Wei Wuxian exchanged a slightly terrified thought: 'Mothers are scary'

Qin Su stared up at the imposing gates of Lotus Pier and trembled. Night had fallen long ago, and a thin crescent moon offered only a thin, watery light against the deep shadows that enveloped her. The chorus of frogs and running water that surrounded her only served to make her more ill at ease, strange to her city-bred ears.
She raised her fist to knock on the gate, but paused, hand held in midair.
Foreboding clutched at her heart and smothered her breath as every rumor she’d ever heard about Sect Leader Jiang churned in her mind. The man who took a sect left in ashes and singlehandedly returned it to a bastion of power. The man whose anger was legendary, who wielded lightning like a wrathful god. The man who had annihilated even the fearsome Yiling Laozu, never caring it was his own shidi he was killing.
The man who made a sport of hunting demonic cultivators and torturing them to death.
Everyone said the same thing: Offend whoever you like, but don’t offend Sect Leader Jiang. That’s just begging for your own death.
The sky flashed overhead with lightning, but instead of thunder following on its heels, a scream tore through the night.
Qin Su's fist came down on the wooden gate, knocking of its own accord.
“Who goes there? What is your business here?”
“I…” Qin Su swallowed, her voice sticking in her throat. “I need to see Sect Leader Jiang.”
A moment of silence, and then the gate creaked open a few inches, and a Jiang cultivator appeared in the gap. “Who are you? What business could you have with Zongzhu at this late hour?”
“This one is Qin Su, heir of the Laoling Qin. I’m here for Mo Xuanyu.” Her voice shook, but she managed to get the words out.
The cultivator’s brow rose. “Mo Xuanyu?” She looked back over her shoulder at something Qin Su couldn’t see. The sky flashed again; another scream split the night.
“Please,” Qin Su added, trying to put more strength into her words than she felt. “He doesn’t deserve to die.”
The cultivator gave her a long look before speaking again. “Wait a moment.”
The gates closed.
At the moment of reprieve, Qin Su gasped in a breath, unaware she had been holding it. The disciple was going to get Jiang-zongzhu. She would have to speak to him. Contradict him.
Offend him.
Heart rabbiting in her chest, she considered turning around and fleeing before getting herself in any deeper. She was terrified to her bones of facing Sect Leader Jiang.
But even as she took a step backwards, ready to bolt, it occurred to her that the only thing she feared more than Sect Leader Jiang was her fiancé.
She held her ground.
A few minutes later, the Jiang disciple reappeared at the gate. “Follow me, please.”
Qin Su gave a jerky nod and took a deep breath before passing through the forbidding gates of Lotus Pier.

Madam Qin fearing for herself is absolutely not a moral failing, but I feel like the other thing that meta basically dismisses is how extremely traumatic talking about rape often is for victims even when they don't have to fear being killed for it. Madam Qin is described as having been extremely depressed for years, even though she was still very close with her daughter. It was extremely difficult for her to say anything, and when the wedding announcement came through she fainted dead away on the spot and then died right after the wedding. That meta describing her as "giving up" and just not being bothered to do more to save her daughter put a really nasty taste in my mouth.
Yes, yes, absolutely this. The fact that she didn't speak to anyone until the betrothal fucks me up so bad. Like, she spent the better part of 20 years (or more) carrying that trauma all by herself, and all the while she probably has to interact with her rapist on a semi-regular basis because her husband is still friends with him and Laoling is beholden to Lanling Jin politically even before JGS becomes Chief Cultivator. She probably has to attend events at Jinlintai. She probably has to host him at her house. And the more time goes by, the less likely it is that anyone will believe her, so even if she were able to speak about it, what incentive would there be to do so, short of a crisis like the one she tries to prevent? God.
(Sometimes I sit there and contemplate: what if they really weren't half-siblings? The timing of QS's birth is such that nobody takes anything amiss. What if she really was QCY's daughter, but Madam Qin assumed the worst and was never able to find out for sure because if she never felt safe enough to talk about her rape, she sure as hell wouldn't feel safe enough to seek out confirmation of her fears? Or, on the other side of things, given how heavily JGY favors his mother, what if MS miscounted and JGY was never JGS's son after all? What if all of that was based on a worst-case scenario that hadn't actually transpired? The whole thing is wretched but that would manage to make it worse, I think.)

huh, when bicao talks about qin cangye being loyal to jgs, she says 先代の 秦宗主, 先代の〇宗主 being the same term she uses to talk about jgs, literally “the X sect leader from the previous generation”. that makes it sound like qin cangye was dead at the time of her talking about it, which, considering qin su has recently committed suicide and it’s probably why laoling qin didn’t go to the burial mounds (or so i think?)... but then she doesn’t mention him being dead at all. something something qin su had a brother (perhaps from qcy’s concubine/other wife?) and that brother took over the sect in some unspecified meantime, perhaps because his father was mourning the first madam qin,
BUT ONLY IN THE JAPANESE EDITION.
because in chinese she just says 我家主人 “my master”. #extralore

I noticed you're still taking prompts and the last fic with Qin Su/Wen Ning had me living, so:
WRH looking at WQL who is very firmly/deceptively but like, still kindly???, doing shit to prevent Qin Su and JZY getting married, and WRH like: "Ohhhhh, you *do* have ambition! It's just ... Fucking weird. Well, I can work with that."
And/or WQL being/becoming WRHs heir and everyone being a little ??? about that.
WRH meanwhile like: "he's a little confused but he's got the spirit".
When Wen Ruohan hears that his nephew has kidnapped Jin Zixuan's intended bride and brought her to the Nightless City, he is certain that Xu'er got the news wrong.
"Don't be absurd," he snaps, staring daggers at his son over the rim of his teacup. “How could A-Ning have kidnapped her? The girl is well within her rights to visit whomever she pleases, betrothed or not; and do we not have Qing’er to serve as her chaperone? Those two have been friends for years.”
“But father,” Wen Xu persists, with great, trembling beads of sweat standing out on his forehead like dewdrops. “He and Maiden Qin are in the ancestral hall now, bowing to Ning-ge’s mother and father! A-Chao saw them!”
Goaded nearly out of his wits, Wen Ruohan rises from his chair and makes his way to the ancestral hall. He expects to find Wen Ning kneeling in the shrine by himself, since his nephew often visits the place to make offerings to his late parents; but to his astonishment, it is exactly as Wen Xu told him.
Qin Su is kneeling at Wen Ning’s side, lighting a stick of incense for Wen Ruohan’s sister-in-law; and at the sight of their joined hands, A-Xu lets out a defeated groan and sidles back towards the door.
Wen Ruohan reaches out and catches him by the scruff of his robes. “A-Ning,” he says pleasantly, as Wen Xu straightens up and corrects his posture before bowing and taking his leave. “Would you care to explain what you and Qin-guniang are doing here?”
“We are married, Shufu,” Wen Ning replies, meeting Wen Ruohan’s gaze without so much as a flicker of fear. “I am Wen-zongzhu now, and it is my right—and duty—to wed as I see fit. I have chosen Qin Su, and now we are husband and wife.”
“I do not object to that,” Wen Ruohan points out, “but why must you choose a betrothed woman? It will make trouble with the rest of the jianghu, though I do hope my new daughter-in-law agreed to your union.” He narrows his eyes. “Maiden Qin, were you truly kidnapped?”
Qin Su laughs. Her eyes crinkle up at the corners as she smiles, and when the full force of that smile falls upon Wen Ning—well. Wen Ruohan supposes he can rest at ease with the knowledge that this must be a love match, though Wen Ning will likely insist otherwise to the jianghu for the sake of his father-in-law’s reputation.
“No, Uncle,” she says merrily. “I did not want to marry Jin Zixuan. My late mother begged my father not to wed me into that house—it was the only choice she ever made in my upbringing—and when I fell in love with Wen Ning, I decided to run away with him. I saw no need to break my own heart as well as my father’s old promise to Mother, so here I am.”
“And the marriage is legitimate?” Wen Ruohan demands, turning back to his nephew. “Was it witnessed? Qing’er is still young, and she is your sister. If it was only her, you must perform the wedding rites again.”
“It is legitimate. A-Su and I were first married in Laoling last month with her tangxiong and tangmei in attendance, but she couldn’t leave the Qin estate until the day before yesterday.”
Wen Ruohan pinches the bridge of his nose. Suddenly, it strikes him that his deceased xiongzhang was right about how difficult it was to raise children; for they could be like Wen Chao, bothersome in infancy and mild in young manhood, or else they could be like Wen Ning: filial in their early years, and nothing but trouble after they were grown up.
Qing’er, good girl that she is, has never given Wen Ruohan a moment’s worry. But she has time to grow, and her will is even stronger than her brother’s, so who knows what might happen after Wen Qing becomes a woman in her own right?
“Should we expect Qin Cangye come knocking at our doors?” he says wearily, after the newlyweds rise to their feet and give him a formal greeting. “Or did Qin-guniang run away without letting the poor man know where she was going?”
“We left a note, Shufu. I stamped it with my personal seal, so he should arrive by the day after tomorrow.”
“And I suppose he’ll bring Jin Guangshan with him,” grumbles Wen Ruohan. “Very well. Will you prepare for a siege, Wen-zongzhu?”
Wen Ning blinks, caught off guard by the title; for he has not been Wen-zongzhu for long, and if Wen Ruohan had not forced the boy’s hand by retiring, he would rather have passed his birthright on to Xu’er than bear the responsibility himself.
“No,” he answers, after a beat of silence. “Jin Guangshan betrothed his son to A-Su for shares in my father-in-law’s gold mines. Jin Zixuan does not care for her, so he will not let it come to bloodshed. Besides, even if he wanted to marry A-Su, we are already wed, and the marriage is consummated. We are one; there is nothing he can do.”
“What is more,” Qin Su says quietly, “he and I might be brother and sister.”
This stops Wen Ruohan dead in his tracks. “What?”
“A-Ning and I went to visit one of my mother’s maids before we eloped,” she replies, speaking with some difficulty. “She had not heard of my betrothal to Jin-gongzi, for she left Laoling years before Father signed the engagement contracts—but when she learned that I had been promised to Jin Guangshan’s son, she told me that Jin-zongzhu forced himself on my mother the year before I was born.”
Wen Ruohan blinks.
“This is why you eloped?” he asks, turning back to his nephew. “You have my blessing either way, nephew, but—”
“I wanted to ask Qin Cangye to break her contract with Jin-gongzi, but A-Su wanted to elope from the beginning,” Wen Ning says, lowering his head. “After we met with Bicao-ayi, I knew it would have to be done in secret. A-Su, she—she and her mother were blameless. If there was to be any fault found, I would rather it be with me.”
“The elopement would have been remiss of you, if matters had not been so, but our clan is strong. We can bear it.” Wen Ruohan pats his nephew on the shoulder. “For now, you should rest and tend to your wife. I will deal with Jin Guangshan and Qin Cangye when they come.”
So Wen Ning and Qin Su bow to him once again, kneeling with their brows pressed flat to the ground before departing hand-in-hand. Wen Ruohan remains behind to burn incense for his late brother, and pray for good fortune for his nephew and niece-in-law; and before he leaves, he lights another stick of incense on behalf of the couple’s future children.
And his prayers come to fruit, as all good prayers do; for Qin Su’s first daughter is born ten months later, and her arrival transforms her weeping father into the happiest man in the world.

Emperor Guangyao of Jin is a prosperous and successful young Emperor, who has a large harem of gentries belonging to the Jianghu realm.
Like empress Qin, a.k.a, Qin Su of Laoling, Lan gui fei, a.k.a Lan xichen, the sect leader of the Gusu lan sect, Nie mingjue, Nie da-gui fei, the sect leader of the Qinghe Nie sect, Nie Huaisang, Nie er gui fei, Su Minshan, Su gui fei the sect leader of Moling Su, xue yang a.k.a xue gui fei, the gremlin of Kuizhou and Yi city. And lastly Mo gui fei, Mo xuanyu of the Mo sect, or Jin San gongzi.
Other than the rest, Mo xuanyu has the craziest obsession with A-Yao.
~~~~
Yao: *sipping tea*
Mo xuanyu: *spying on him*
Huaisang: Mo gui fei, why are you snooping around?
Mo xuanyu: do I look like I'm snooping around. I'm looking at my Yao gege. Isn't he perfect.
Huaisang: well yea, he's sexy.
Mo xuanyu: Yao gege is mine, you little rat. Only I can call him sexy.
Huaisang: gosh. I was only agreeing with you.
Mo xuanyu: Yao gege loves me.
Do you get it!
Huaisang: *gulp*
Mo xuanyu: why are his guards and eunuchs hovering around him all the time. Am I not enough?
Huaisang: maybe because he's the emperor. Mo xuanyu.
Mo xuanyu: but they're still taking up his attention and space.
They're also affecting the lighting.
How am I gonna see Yao gege's dimples properly when these goons stand around him!
Huaisang: you're crazy.
Mo xuanyu: and you're a disaster.
Huaisang: *offended*
Mo xuanyu: I'm going to talk to him.
*Rushing towards him* Yao gege!!!
Yao gege!! Yao gege! Yao gege!!
Yao: A-Yu.
Mo xuanyu: *rests his head on his lap* Yao gege!!
Yao: *strokes his hair* what's up.
Mo xuanyu: *blushing* nothing. Just wanted to be next to you. *hugs tightly* you're mine.
Yao: of course I am.
Mo xuanyu: *staring at him*
Yao: *finishing his tea*
Mo xuanyu: *admires* oh my goodness.
Yao: what?
Mo xuanyu: c...c..can I kiss your lips? Or maybe touch it.
Yao: mn. Certainly, darling.
Mo xuanyu: *kisses* hehehehehe.
Mo xuanyu: Yao gege, your lashes look wet, were you crying?
Yao: no. Maybe it was the steam from the tea.
Mo xuanyu: that's really gorgeous.
*kisses him again while hugging him tightly*
What are you going to do later, Yao gege?
Yao: Minshan is going to carry me to Moling.
Mo xuanyu: that's so far from the palace. I'll die without you.
Can I come? *pouts*
Yao: sorry A-yu. As much as I wish to carry you, I can't.
We must respect Su Minshan's feelings. *cups face* right.
Mo xuanyu: ok Yao gege.
Yao: *kisses his forehead*
Mo xuanyu: (Su she, Su She! You snatched my A-Yao away from me!! I won't let you take him away!!!!) You're mine and only mine, Yao gege. Why do you have other concubines?
Yao: because they love me and I love them back.
Besides, it's perfect for the empire.
Mo xuanyu: you're right.
Yao gege. *sniffs him* ah. I got to go.
Also I'm lowkey taking your teacup with me.
Yao: ohh really?
Mo xuanyu: because your lips touched it.
Yao: I see.
Mo xuanyu: it's going in my shrine! *runs off*
Yao: *shakes head.*
..
Mo xuanyu goes to his room, where he started kissing A-Yao's teacup.
Mo xuanyu: tastes so sweet. Yao gege's lips are so sweet. Like sweet flowers.
*gasps* is that his eyelash at the bottom of the cup?
Omg! I'm so so so fortunate. *crying* his eyelash is so precious.
*places it in his shrine*
Later that day, Su Minshan came with a few attendants.
Su she: Huangdi. Forgive me for the delay. *coughs*
Yao: A-she, A-She are you alright?
Su she: I think I'm sick, my emperor.
I got the cold as well as food poisoning.
Yao: oh dear. Shanshan, you should drink plenty of fluids. I'll order tea and water for you ok.
Su she: *coughs* what about our trip?
Yao: darling your health is more important. We'll reschedule our trip.
Su she: you're truly gracious, Huangdi. I love you.
Yao: love you too. Now get some rest.
Su she: yes Huangdi. *exits*
Yao: *sigh* I wonder how he got sick. Minshan's qi is very strong.
Mo xuanyu: because I made him sick.
Yao: A-Yu why?!!
Mo xuanyu: because.....he...was....taking you away from me.
Yao: *facepalm*
Yao: A-Yu can't just make people fall ill.
Mo xuanyu: it's just one person....Yao gege. And not that I poisoned him. He'll get better some day.
Yao: some day?!!
Mo xuanyu: I don't know how long it would take for him to recover.
Yao: *sighs*
Mo xuanyu: Yao gege are you mad?
Yao: no A-Yu. Just concerned.
How could I be upset with cute little you
Mo xuanyu: *hugs* everything I do is for us, Yao gege.
Yao: you're kinda crazy. But I love it.
Mo xuanyu: Yao gege, what's that word in Japanese?
Yao: Otaku?
Mo xuanyu: noooooo. It's Senpai. *nudges cutely* you're my Senpai. *kisses* my cute, cuddly, adorable, sophisticated senpai.
Yao: hmm.
Now would you let your senpai go do some work?
Mo xuanyu: *clinging on* ok. Go ahead, Yao gege.
Yao: *laughing* how would I go while you're hugging me.
Mo xuanyu: Yao gege, tell me you love me and then I'll stop hugging you.
But.
Yao: but?
Mo xuanyu: when you're working, can I hold on to your sleeve.
Yao: sure, A-Yu. You can.
And I love you.
Mo xuanyu: right!
Let's go.
~~~~
Next day.
Qin Su and A-Yao were playing with their 4 year old son, Rusong.
Rusong: A-Die, A-Die. A-song has dimples like you!
Yao: aww. Really? Are they deeper than mine?
Rusong: mhm. Are you jealous of A-Song?
Yao: *pinches cheeks* verryyy jealous of A-Song.
Rusong: A-niang! *climbs on A-Su* A-Die is jealous of me. *cuddles*
Qin Su: I'll talk to him Song'er. Don't worry. *laughing* A-Yao don't be jealous of Songsong.
Yao: *strokes Rusong's hair* haha ok ma'am, I'll try.
Even though my Song'er is really adorable.
Rusong: *grabby hands* A-Die.
Yao: *lifts him and places him on his lap* come my baby prince.
I thought you were running from me.
Rusong: if I run then who would give me candy and take me to feed the koi. *hugs* I love you, A-Die.
Yao: awww.
Mo xuanyu: *enters* Yao gege!
Aww hi Song'er.
Rusong: uncle Mo!!!
Mo xuanyu: Songsong I gave birth to you. I'm not your uncle Mo.
Qin Su: what are you telling the child.
Mo xuanyu: because he's mine and Yao gege's child.
Right Songsong?
Rusong: *confused*
Yao: A-Yu, he's the harem's baby Song'er.
Qin Su: exactly and I gave birth to him.
Mo xuanyu: that's not true.
Rusong: oh my. A-Die, why are they fighting over me?
Yao: also I'm clueless, Song'er.
Mo xuanyu: who am I, Songsong?
Rusong: still uncle Mo!!
Qin Su: *laughing along with A-Yao*
~~
One week later Mo xuanyu made Qin Su unconscious, then he kidnapped her and tied her up in a storage room.
Mo xuanyu: you're taking everything away from me! I guess this is better for both of us.
Now I'll be closer to Yao gege!
Just me, him and Song'er.
Mo xuanyu: I got to go.
*to the maids* feed her when she wakes up.
Yes Mo gui fei.
Yao: *walking through his courtyard, while Lan xichen sheltered him with an umbrella*
Mo xuanyu: *growling* Lan lips! What is that crusty Lan doing here! Isn't he supposed to be in the cloud recesses!
Xichen: *lovingly looking at A-Yao*
Yao: *blushing*
*almost trips*
Xichen: *supports him* careful, Huangdi.
Yao: mn.
Xichen: do you want to hear some flute music later.
Yao: I would love that. You play the most beautiful music.
Xichen: only for you.
Yao: *smiling*
Xichen: *touches A-Yao's rear*
Mo xuanyu: *infuriated*
Xichen! I hate you!!!!!
What are you doing with my Yao gege! He's MY YAO GEGE!!
Yao: *sitting and listening to Xichen's music*
Mo xuanyu: *staring at A-Yao from a distance*
Yao: Lan Huan, sorry to interrupt. But have you seen A-Su?
Xichen: *stops playing his liebing* Qin Huanghou? Nop, I haven't seen her.
And she hates me remember?
Yao: oh right, lol.
Maybe she left for Laoling. But that's kind of strange that she left without telling me.
Xichen: hmm I agree. I guess it was urgent.
Yao: right. Continue playing.
Xichen: sure.
A stray arrow then shot Xichen's flute out his hands.
Xichen: *startled*
Yao: *stood up and looked around* who attacked Xichen?! Show yourselves!!
I'll have you jailed.
Xichen: A-Yao, it's fine.
Yao: no. What if the arrow struck you in the chest. Huanhuan, I'm going to look for the culprit. *walks off*
Xichen: A-Yao.
*sighs* he's so hot when he's in his emperor mode.
Afterwards someone put a bag over Xichen's head, just to kidnap him and dump him in the storage room along with Qin Su.
Xichen: *struggling* A-Yao!! Mmfff!! A-Yao!!
A masked mo xuanyu: shut up!! And stop struggling!
Xichen: xuanyu?!
Mo xuanyu: you know too much. *hits him on the side of his neck which knocked him out*
And now Xichen is tied up with Qin Su.
Qin Su: gosh. I didn't mind being kidnapped. But why do I have to be stuck with this creature.
Xichen: that's rude! And I was worried about your disappearance.
Qin Su: stop being fake. I know that my disappearance was at your advantage.
You had emperor Yao to yourself! *rolls eyes*
Xichen: Qin Su, I was concerned about you.
Qin Su: who were you hanging out with when you found out?
Xichen: A-Yao.
Qin su: exactly! Lan Xichen you're the biggest leech in the Jianghu. And I wish you stay away from my husband.
Xichen: I'm his concubine. How can I stay away from him. Besides, I love him.
Qin Su: there are some harem members who have never seen their emperor. I believe you can learn from them. *mock* bEsIdEs I lOvE HiM.
My foot!.
Xichen: *under his breath* A-Yao spends more time with me though.
Qin Su: Xichen, you're really evil underneath.
Xichen: I was stating facts.
Qin su: keep them to yourself.
Qin su: the audacity of this Lan telling me that my husband spends more time with him. Yao huangdi is MY husband!
Xichen: quarrelsome.
Qin Su: homewrecker.
Xichen: how am I a homewrecker.
Qin su: the list is kind of long. Do you still want to hear?
Xichen: Qin Su, instead of arguing, let's figure out who kidnapped us.
Qin Su: I thought it was you. But bam! They got you too.
Xichen: you think that I would do such a thing??
Qin Su: yes.
You'll do anything to have A-Yao to yourself.
Xichen: *sighs* what was the last thing you did, and how did you get kidnapped?
Qin Su: well I was hanging out with my husband, Yao Huangdi and our son Song'er.
Then I ate some dinner back in my room and fell asleep. I think someone put sleeping pills in my food.
Now what about you?
Xichen: well I was spending time with A-Yao.
Qin su: that's always the dang case with you! Yao is married to me and we have a child together. Hands off!
Xichen: *sobs* can you let me finish!
Qin Su: proceed.
Xichen: someone shot liebing out my hands then put a bag over my head. When I woke up, I realised that I'm here. In this storage room.
Qin Su: do you see the connection.
Both of us were hanging out with Yao huangdi before we got kidnapped.
Xichen: you're right!
Qin Su: I heard that Su Minshan fell ill, so they had to cancel their Moling trip.
Xichen: someone don't want us to be close to A-Yao.
Qin su: ya think?
Xichen: but who is that?
Qin Su: maybe Huaisang or something.
Xichen: huh.
...
Mo xuanyu: *having tea with A-Yao*
Yao: *sips* A-Yu, Huan is missing.
Mo xuanyu: ohhhhhh. Don't worry about that. I think he might come back.
Yao gege, have some more tea. You look really sexy when you drink it.
Yao: sure.
Xue yang: *skipping* Jiggy! Jiggy I'm back!!! Now give me some love.
Mo xuanyu: *squeals, then threw an empty tea pot at him*
Xue yang; *faints*
Yao: CHENGMEI!!!!! *rushes to his side*
Mo xuanyu: Yao gege I'm sorry. I thought it was an assassin. Xue yang should stop wearing black.
Yao: someone call the physicians!!!
Right away, Huangdi.
Mo xuanyu: I panicked Yao gege! At least it's a little blood.
Yao: you call this a little blood??
Mo xuanyu: n...not like you're seeing his skull.
Yao: A-Yu. Be careful next time.
Mo xuanyu: ok Yao gege. *pouts* I'll be careful.
Soon after~~
Xue yang: *wakes up in the storage room* oh come on!! Not again!!
Untie me now!!!
Qin Su: do my hands look free?
Xichen: welcome to the team, xue yang.
Qin su: you think being kidnapped is a good thing?! Let alone being kidnapped with you.
Xue yang: *cracking up* lipsy were you harassing Qin Su.
Qin Su, shanshan told me that these Lans are very provocative. You should put your foot down.
Xichen: hey!!
Qin Su: finally, I got a well wisher!! Chengmei. I just don't like his face.
Xue yang: and how he clings on to your husband.
Qin su: I know right. He's so rude.
Xue yang: all Lans are.
Xichen: are you really gonna bad talk me infront my face.
Qin Su: then turn to face the wall.
Xue yang: I like chaos, confusion and drama. *grinning*
Xichen: why is your head bandaged up?
Xue yang: *smiling* mo xuanyu threw a tea pot at me.
Xichen: then why are you laughing?
Qin Su: Xichen, stop harassing him.
Xue yang: I like pain.
It reminds me of my childhood and how I killed the Chang clan.
Xichen: yikes.
Qin Su: I wonder if Mo xuanyu, kidnapped us.
Xue yang: without a doubt.
He's crazy for Jiggy. But I don't blame him. Jiggy is super sexy.
Xichen: but he seems so quiet.
Xue yang: that's what he wants you to think. Anyways he's my bestie.
Qin Su: then why did he kidnap you?
Xue yang: cuz I was going too close to Jiggy. Duh.
~~~~~~
Next time, Jiang cheng came to give A-Yao some lotus root and rib soup he had tried to make.
Jiang cheng: how is it, A-Yao?
Yao: very delicious, sect leader Jiang.
Yanli would be proud of you. Have you sent some for her?
Jiang cheng: yup.
Yao: delightful. *eats some more*
Jiang cheng: *wipes his mouth affectionately*
A 5 year old Jinling: *playing with Rusong* Jiujiu and Shushu are the best couple!!!!
Rusong: yeaaa!!!!
Mo xuanyu: *peeping* (where do they keep coming froml)
Later that day, Jiang cheng was stabbed in his room.
One of the palace's attendants: JIANG GUI FEI HAD BEEN STABBED!
Mo xuanyu: he choked on lotus seeds.
Attendant: but he has a dagger sticking out of his chest.
Mo xuanyu: I said. He choked on lotus seeds!!
Attendants: JIANG GUI FEI HAS CHOKED ON LOTUS SEEDS!!!
Mo xuanyu: omg. I got to bathe. Yao gege is coming back!
*runs off* Yao gege!!
My love!
A few minutes later~~~
Yao: *reading in his study*
Mo xuanyu: Yao gege. It's so sad that Jiang cheng choked on lotus seeds.
He should have eaten it slower.
Yao: he was murdered, xuanyu.
Mo xuanyu: yea. From the lotus seeds.
Mo xuanyu: Yao gege, are you sad?
Yao: yes, actually. Jiang cheng was so lovely. And I'm worried about A-ling.
Mo xuanyu: yeaa. So sad. Can we adopt A-ling?
Yao: I wish. But Zixuan and Yanli would want their child, right.
Mo xuanyu: mn.
~~~~~
In the evening, A-Yao went to meet Huaisang.
Yao: Huaisang.
Huaisang: yea San ge.
Yao: I got you some art supplies and fans from Dongying.
Huaisang: aww San ge. You didn't have to! *blushing*
Yao: i must, A-Sang. *strokes hair* this is something you're passionate about. And dage doesn't understand.
But I do.
Huaisang: *blushing*
Mo xuanyu: *spying on them* what the hell is that nie disaster doing with my Yao gege.
I got to do something.
Huaisang: heehee, San ge. I'm heading to the backyard. Maybe I can find some inspiration to paint something new.
Yao: good idea. You go ahead.
Huaisang: maybe I can paint you. From memory.
Yao: I'll be honoured.
Mo xuanyu: that's infringement! Only I can draw him.
I'll sue him for copyright.
Thereafter, mo xuanyu pushed Huaisang into a lake.
Mo xuanyu: I'm so sorry Huaisang!! I tripped and accidentally pushed you! And you accidentally interacted with my husband.
Huaisang: *struggling* what?! I don't understand.
Mo xuanyu: I tripped on a twig. And you flirted with Yao gege.
Huaisang: what does that have to do with you pushing me in the water.
Mo xuanyu: if you stayed away from Yao gege you would have been on dry land.
Huaisang: can you help me?
Mo xuanyu: can you stay away from Yao gege. *smiling*
Huaisang: San ge loves me too, Xuanyu!
Mo xuanyu: *eye twitches*
Huaisang: why are you so insane!
Mo xuanyu: everything I do is for him!
*runs off*
Some attendants afterwards ran to Huaisang's aid.
~~~~
Lastly....
Yao huangdi falls ill because of the change in climate temperature (nothing serious)
However Nie mingjue comes to take care of him.
Mingjue: *feeding him herbal soup* how are you feeling?
Yao: still a little weak. But nothing to worry about.
Mingjue: where are the rest of your concubines? And crazy xuanyu?
Yao: must be somewhere around. To tell you the truth, I don't know what's going on with the harem.
Mo xuanyu: *dressed in A-Yao's clothes* Yao gege. I'm here.
I was praying for your health while dressed as you.
Yao: what?
Mo xuanyu: God forbids if Yamraj comes to take you I'll tell him to take me instead.
Yao: oh my goodness. *sigh* A-yu I'll be fine.
Winter is approaching and I tend to get a cold.
You know that.
Mo xuanyu: would you be ok?
Yao: yes.
Mo xuanyu: Nie mingjue, are you going to poison my Yao gege?!
Mingjue: no! Xuanyu, this is medicinal soup!
Mo xuanyu: what if you poisoned it! Or put something that he's allergic to! You know nothing about Yao gege.
Mingjue: dude relax!
Mo xuanyu: GUARDS!!! arrest him! He wants to poison my husband!
Mingjue: no I wasn't!
Yao: A-Yu, nothing is wrong with the soup.
Guys, let go of dage.
Yes Huangdi.
Mingjue: *glaring at mo xuanyu* yea....I'm leaving....bye!
*runs*
Yao: A-Yu. When will you behave?
Mo xuanyu: when im yours. *hugs* see. I love how the harem looks. It's so beautiful.
Yao: it's only you, lol.
Mo xuanyu: exactly. I love you Yao gege.
And yes, I had kidnapped Qin Su, xue yang and Lan xichen.
Yao: I had a feeling.
Mo xuanyu: just for us.
Yao: and you're proud of your crimes?
Mo xuanyu: yes because it's proof of love. A crime of passion.
I'll do anything to have you to myself.
Yao: what to do with you.
This morning, Qin Su woke up to nausea and dizziness, so her maid Bicao called A-Yao to check on her. A-Su was in her separate Pavillion, as it's the norm for empresses and concubines.
Yao: *rusbing in with Rusong and the rest*
Qin Su: *clings to A-Yao* Yao Huangdi. My Yao huangdi.
Yao: A-Su. *embraces her* goodness you're pale. Are you unwell?
Qin Su: yes I am. I think I caught a flew or something.
Yao: *gives her water*
Rusong: A-niang, do you need anything else?
Qin Su: no Songsong. I just want Yao.
A-qing: *rubbing her back*
Yao: *to his attendants* get the physicians.
Why aren't the physicians here?!!
Do you want me to fire you?!
Forgive us, Huangdi.
Right away, Huangdi.
Xue yang: Jiggy is so hot when he raises his voice.
Su she: just divine.
Mo xuanyu: but what happened to Su jiejie.
Su she: she saw Lan lips.
Xue yang: omg, Shanshan. You're so savage.
Qin Su: team dimple, can you stop talking about him!
He tried to steal my husband!
Xue yang: I know right. Lan lips is so shameless. Heehee.
Su she: as you wish, Huanghou.
Yangyang, behave.
afterwards, Jing Manor's physicians came and checked up on Qin Su.
Then Meng Shi entered.
Meng Shi: A-Su! Baby, what happened?
Qin Su: yuemu hou! I'm feeling nauseous.
Meng Shi: nauseous?
*smiling to herself*
Sisi.
Sisi: I'm thinking the same, jiejie.
Qin su: why are you smiling? You want me to die?
Meng Shi: no no dear. You'll be fine, A-Su.
Qin Su: wait.....I think I felt nauseous like this already.
But I don't think....
Sisi: don't think too much! *laughing*
Huanghou jiejie, what did your son do?
Meng Shi: you don't need to worry. But my son is excellent at being attractive and charming.
Sisi: he got it from you.
Meng Shi: gosh. He did.
Qin Su: *pouts* Yuemu hou. Focus on me.
Meng Shi: ok ok dear. *caresses face* I'll focus on you.
~ that line, "focus on me" has been a cute little Meng pregnancy trend actually.
Meng Shi said that to Sisi, Qin Su said it to A-Yao when she was pregnant with Rusong, and now she's saying it again.~
Sisi: she's so cute.
Meng Shi: yes she is.
Yao: *holding Qin Su's hand*
One of the physicians: congratulations Huanghou and Huangdi.
And thank you for blessing the empire again.
You're pregnant.
Qin Su: *smiling* what?!!!!
Yao: *smile* A-su????? You are?!
Qin su: *places A-Yao's hand on her tummy* yes.
Yao: I'm so happy!
*takes off this outer robes and gifted it to his staff. Tell everyone in the city that everything is free today and they're entitled to a golden tael.
Let them party.
Xiying: yes yes Huangdi. I'll deliver the news.
Meng Shi: A-Su!!!! *kisses her* my sweetest daughter-in-law. You're such a gift.
Yao'er, congratulations. *kisses* Yao'er, you're so smart and charming. And always successful in making others fall in love with you.
Yao: thank you, A-niang.
Meng Shi: you two have the most beautiful children.
Rusong: *hugs* congrats A-niang! I can't wait to meet my new sibling.
Jingyi: same. I'm very excited.
Qin Su: aw thank you babies.
We'll be one big happy family.
A-qing: congrats Meng Furen!
Qin Su: thanks A-qing.
Meng Shi: team dimple. Do you have anything to say?
Su she: I'm really happy for my Huangdi. Congrats huangdi amd Qin Huanghou.
Mo xuanyu: we were belly dancing for them! Why aren't we pregnant too?! This is unfair.
Xue yang: come on Jiggy. Make us pregnant too.
Anyways, congrats.
Meng shi: oh A-Yu. Don't be sad.
Mo xuanyu: ok taihou.
Congrats you two. I'm genuinely happy for you. *hugs Ayao*
Meng Shi: so team dimple were belly dancing? *laughing*
Yao: yea. All for entertainment.
Meng Shi: ah Yes. You deserve the best. I believe everyone in the harem should belly dance for my son.
Yao: oh my. But I do agree.
Meng Shi: well we must call the harem and spread the news to the rest of the empire.
Yao: mn.
Sisi: I'll tell your parents in Laoling.
Qin Su: yes. Please do!
Meng Shi: tell Xuan'er and A-li too.
Sisi: sure. Maybe I'll tell them tomorrow. A-Su is maybe sleepy.
Meng Shi: you're right. She needs her rest.
~~
Later on, in the harem palace. A-Yao supported Qin Su by wrapping his arm around her and holding her hand.
Yao: *gently helps her sit* have a seat, dear.
Qin Su: ok.
Yao: here's some vegetable soup.
Jiang cheng: is Meng Furen sick?
Mingjue: I don't know. Team dimple is always vague about everything. They just told me to come to the harem.
And i know that taihou or A-Yao maybe asked them to.
Huaisang: admit it dage, you're afraid of taihou.
Mingjue: I just want to respect her.
Anyways, why can't team dimple just normally give a message. They're always so secretive.
Jiang cheng: because they're team dimple.
Zewu Jun, do you know anything?
Xichen: not at all. I wasn't in Jing Manor at the time. But based on A-Yao's body language, I can tell what it is.
Team dimple: *enters* stop trying to ruin the surprise!
Mo xuanyu: Lan lips. Shhhhh.
Xue yang: guys, can't you just relax a bit. Omg.
Su she:  we'll tell you soon.
Mingjue: whatever. Just don't make it about yourselves.
Su she: I believe Lan lips was going to make it about himself.
Xichen: what? No!
Mo xuanyu: are you jealous of us, dage?!
Mingjue: never.
Xue yang: Qin Su is a member of team dimple by the way.
Mingjue: making it about themselves again.
Jiang cheng: they always do.
Mo xuanyu: nooo, it's about Su jiejie.
And she happens to be a part of team d and your boss too.
Su she: yup.
Jiang cheng: *rolls eyes*
Mingjue: team dimple, it's not about you!
Meng Shi: guys, stop fighting on such an auspicious day.
Yao: harem members. My A-Su is pregnant.
Huaisang: what?!!
Mingjue: How?!!!
Xue yang: dage. Obviously they did papapa!
Jiang cheng: are you serious?!
Mo xuanyu: that's what a husband and wife do, Jc.
I know, it should have been team d. But we're still happy.
Mingjue: who's jealous now. *scoffs*
Su she: shut up.
Jiang cheng: Congratulations you two.
Yao: thank you.
Qin Su: thanks, Jiang cheng.
Su she: you guys could have done better.
Xichen: *hugs Ayao* congrats on being a dad again, A-Yao. I know you always wanted a lot of children.
Yao: yes!
Xichen: Meng Furen, I'm very happy for you. You deserve all the happiness.
Qin Su: thank you. (Joking) And don't hug my husband in front of me.
Xichen: that's impossible, haha.
Qin Su: ah.... I agree.
Huaisang: what do you two want? A boy or a girl?
Yao: a girl. But it doesn't matter the gender.
I would love the child anyway.
Qin Su: I want a girl too!
Xichen: aw. A little princess.
Yao: exactly.
Mingjue: *pulls Huaisang aside* I don't want you to enter your villain Arc, ok?
Huaisang: what villain Arc? I don't have any time to be evil. I'm busy babysitting Zixuan's children.
Mingjue: what did you really want?
Huaisang: *dramatic* the spotlight.
But I can't tell you because~~
Meng Shi: Nie gui fei number 1 and 2.
Nies: *startled*
Mingjue: taihou.
Huaisang: taihou, I swear. I didn't do anything!
Mingjue: (why is he so shady?)
Meng Shi: you both should chill. A chaotic and secretive environment isn't ideal for the baby.
Right?
Nies: right. Forgive us, taihou.
Meng Shi: lovely.
*walks off* Yao'er.
Mingjue: why do I have to take the blame along with you?!
Huaisang: because that's how it is. The elder sibling must be scolded too!
Jiang cheng: team dimple, you watched them do papapa then? Since you guys were belly dancing.
Xue yang: unfortunately no.
But we got to kiss them of course.
Huaisang: (is this my chance to say that A-Su got pregnant by someone from team dimple? So I can become the empress and make a child for San ge? ...... nah I'm too lazy)
Mo xuanyu: we all gave them kisses, while we danced like courtesans.
Su she:  Huangdi gave us gifts and then said, give us our privacy~ you guys danced well.
Meng Shi: well my son do have skills.
Xichen: A-Yao is so darn hot.
Qin Su: *blushing*
Jiang cheng: oh, I thought you three watched them.
Su she: we respect them, unlike you.
Jiang cheng: ugh.
Yao: when A-Su is two months pregnant, we'll have a baby shower.
Qin Su: everyone is invited.
Mo xuanyu: yay!
Rusong's baby shower was the best.
The empire had a flower show and lantern festival.
Everyone got sweets catered from Jing Manor.
Su she: yea, the empire was part of the celebration too.
Xue yang: remember his one month?
Xichen: that was a huge party.
A-Yao, what do you have in mind for the baby shower?
Yao: well for the empire, there will be another flower show. And I'll have 108 Sakura trees, magnolias and roses planted in Jinjing.
For Rusong, I had pine trees, peonies and orchids planted for him.
Xichen: lovely idea.
Yao: they're all free to have a party. And we'll cater all the food.
If we don't cater food, we'll sponsor the ingredients.
Does these sound good, Asu?
Qin Su: of course Huangdi. We should celebrate with pomp.
Yao: Anyways. That's all. I have to take care of A-Su, and make sure she's comfortable.
I'll be back shortly.
Xiying, Fuying I'll send my list of details.
We must plan in advance.
Xiying: of course, Huangdi.
~~
Next day, Zixuan and family as well as Madam Qin and Qin Cangye came to check on A-Su.
Zixuan: Foxy. *hugs* I'm so happy for you! You're going to he a dad again!!
Yao: thanks Zish. *hugs*
Zixuan: I'm going to be an uncle again!
Yao: the best uncle.
Zixuan: as I must.
It's my duty to spend money on your babies.
Yanli: *hugs* A-Su. *gives her a kiss*
You look so so pretty. Congrats baby.
Qin Su: thank you!!
Yanli: I'll make some soup for you.
Qin Su: that would be lovely.
Zixuan: congrats A-Su. I promise I'll be an amazing uncle.
Qin Su: *laughing* I know, Xuan ge. You're always an amazing uncle.
Zixuan: awww.
Jinling: xiao shushu! I'll protect Mt future cousin, like how I did with Rusong.
Yao: you're so ideal. *kisses him on his forehead*
Rusong: I'll give them all my love as a big bro.
Jingyi: everyone is lucky to have you as a big brother. Talking from experience.
Rusong: thank you A-Yi.
Jingyi: yep. He's great with gremlins and kids.
Jingyi: hey!
Jinling: how do you have the patience?
Rusong: I don't really know.
Well I love children. And for the gremlin thing, I just watched how A-Die deals with uncle muffin.
Xue yang: Songsong. I'm not a gremlin.
Yao: *laughing* sure you aren't.
A-qing: king of gremlins.
Xue yang: xuanyu is a gremlin too.
Mo xuanyu: when was I a gremlin.
Su she: Huangdi. Am I a gremlin too?
Yao: no Shanshan. Team d are all gremlins together. But I love it.
Meng Shi: *walking in with Qin Su's parents* her face is completely glowing.
It's so sweet.
Madam Qin: per face glowed when she was pregnant with Song'er.
Qin cangye: Laoling will also be decorated for A-Su.
Meng Shi: delightful. Madam Qin, thank you so much for A-su.
Madam Qin: taihou, you don't need to thank me. I'm happy that she's married into such a powerful and beautiful family. And continues your lineage with the emperor.
Huangdi is so charming.
Meng shi: certainly is.
Yao: yuemu, yuefu. *bow*
Qin cangye: oh Huangdi. Huangdi doesn't need to bow.
Yao: but you're my in-laws. I have to respect you.
Madam Qin: so sweet!
How are you, A-Yao?
Yao: I'm very delighted to be a dad again. It's a great honour.
Madam Qin: awww
Qin Su: *hugs* A-niang!
Madam Qin: A-Su! Congratulations!
Qin Su: thank you
Qin cangye: my dear, may you always be prosperous. I hope to see your next dimple baby.
Qin su: haha, thanks a lot A-Die.
A-Yao gives all his children dimples.
Qin cangye: yes, I see that. Song'er is so beautiful.
Speaking of him, here he comes!
Rusong: waipo! Waizufu!
Madam Qin: *pinches his cheeks* Song'er. My little baby!
Qin Cangye: how are you, baby? Here I brought some cash for you.
I know you are a Wangzi, but you're still my grandson.
Rusong: aw thank you so much. You guys are the best! I missed you.
Qin Cangye: aww.
Madam Qin: out baby missed us!
Jingyi: hey, waipo and waizufu.
Madam Qin: A-Yi. *caresses his face* you're our other baby. How are you?
Jingyi: I'm fine
Madam Qin: we brought cash for you too, A-Yi.
Jingyi: wow! Thanks!
Qin Cangye: what an adorable pair. And a baby is on the way.
Meng Shi: my dynasty is immortal.
And forever will be.
Qin cangye: of course!
From the latest chapter of The Twin Blades of Yunmeng by @ghostysword:
Qin-zongzhu is delicate-featured and a head shorter than most of the cultivators around her, but a subtle gravity pulls the attention of the men and women present towards her.
[ID: Digital portrait of Qin Su as Sect Leader Qin, in flowing pink hanfu with gold accents. She stands on stone steps facing the viewer’s left, but with her head turned to stare directly at the viewer. She is wearing her hair in a matron’s updo secured with pink-and-gold crabapple-blossom hairpins, and she holds a sword with a golden hilt and dark pink sheath. Behind her, the banister of the stone steps is decorated with dog-lion statues. The portrait’s backdrop includes the rooftops of a tall Chinese manor, a willow tree, and the blue, indistinct shapes of rounded hills. /end ID]
