Ya boi got an external GPU. We gaming in (relative) luxury ✨️

Did experience some issues, but getting min 24 fps and even with reaching max graphics is an astronomical improvement (tested games Temtem & Outer Wilds [feel free to ask bout the latter or go to subreddit and get a NO Spoiler review])

Laptop: Thinkpad T14 Gen 3 (with the Intel i5 processor) (dual booting Windows & Fedora [primary OS used for everything including gaming])

Enclosure: Razer Core X (not the Chroma, card has enough lights for me :p) (connected through thunderbolt, needs specific specs cable tho, the included one works but is short)

Which device is best for playing Genshin on?

You wanna know which device is the best at playing Genshin? Well, as someone who has played on mobile (both Apple and Android), IPad, Laptop, and PS5, I can tell you the pros and cons of both.

Mobile

Pros: It's easily accessible, less storage, ready on the go. I use mobile when I'm too lazy to pull out my laptop and just need to convert resin really quick. Also, the tap underneath to claim all is a nice feature. Also, I can play in bed, which makes doing story focused quests really nice a cozy.

Cons: Controls are a bit hard to maneuver which makes combat more difficult, overheating, battery drain. Some newer phones handle this really well, but the phones I played on weren't the best, so that should explain it.

Overall, mobile is my last choice because of the clunkiness to move around, which makes running domains and doing dailies really difficult.

IPad

Pros: Great graphics for low storage, more accessible, can also be played in bed, tap underneath to claim all drops.

Cons: Controls are the same as mobile, and spacing them out doesn't really help.

I actually played a couple of times on my friends IPad, so it's not something I did regularly, but IPads are a pretty solid choice to play Genshin, since they can run pretty high graphics at a low cost, and they take up less storage than the PC version of Genshin does. Overall, pretty good.

Laptop

Pros: More comfortable controls leading to better combat, preinstallation

Cons: Needs to be plugged in and needs a mouse to be enjoyed best, sometimes some framerate inconsistencies, depending on your laptop it can't be run at the highest settings, overheating.

I started out on laptop, so their might be some biases. I've played on two laptops so far, both with 16 GB RAM, 500 GB storage, one with an Intel Core i7, another with a Intel Evo i7, with both Intel Graphics cards, if your wondering. They were just regular, work/school laptops, but it the second one runs Genshin much better (probably because the first one had battery problems). If you really want the best graphics, then you probably want a gaming laptop/PC, or a PS5, which I will discuss below, because it already takes up a good chunk of ram (think like 80) when I run it at mid graphic settings and 30 fps (To me, there's not much of a difference between 30 and 60, so this isn't a huge problem for me personally). Personally, laptop is my go-to on most occasions, especially combat oriented tasks like Spiral Abyss. And since most people already have a laptop, for work or for school or for anything else, it's my top choice.

PS5

Pros: Great, Amazing graphics, controls primed for exploration, can play on couch/bed (assuming you have it set up near there), voice over languages are all ready installed

Cons: Controls a bit clunky for combat, have to redownload the entire game every patch.

If you want the max graphics, then you should definitely play on PS5. Most of the graphics are already autoset for max, so everything looks really pretty and runs smoothly. And unlike mobile or PC, you don't download the voice over languages separately, so you can change them on the fly when your feeling like you wanna play with Korean voice over today. Combat is defiantly better than Mobile and iPad, but I always seem to have trouble when it comes to controls, especially when switch characters. This can just totally be a me problem, but I feel like sometime it switches to the wrong character, and that can totally mess you up when you have a specific order you want to go in (as a Raiden main, this is especially painful when you have all your bursts up, and you accidently switch to Raiden and use her first).

This post isn't to shame anyone, this is just comparing and contrasting different ways of playing Genshin, because I'm bored and procrastinating work. Anyways, let me know your thoughts
