First look at Leopard Skin

A new trailer has been released for Leopard Skin, which is set to release November 17, 2022.

Fleeing a botched diamond heist masterminded by crooked Judge Lasalle (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a criminal gang (Nora Arnezeder, Gentry White, Margot Bingham) seeks shelter in the remote paradise of Playa Perdida, Mexico in the beachside estate where two intriguing women, Alba and Batty (Carla Gugino, Gaite Jansen) live. Dark and humorous complications arise when they are joined by two dinner guests, documentary producer Max (Philip Winchester), his flighty girlfriend Maru (Amelia Eve) and the estate’s former housekeeper, Inocencia (Ana de la Reguera). When they are all taken hostage, murderous secrets, coldhearted betrayals and shocking desires bubble to the surface as everyone awaits their fate.

Woljif+Sia = dispensable

A point of mild contention between them is that Woljif does put a lot of stock into what people think of him, and even after learning a few lessons about loyalty and friendship stubbornly continues to believe that no better impression can be made than ostentatiously flaunting money and power.

For Sia, of course these two things are completely dispensable. Sure, he loves having some coin in his pocket for impulse spending, and he didn’t turn his nose up at the azata mythic power even when Iomedae Herself tried to lowkey threaten him into giving it up, but if it had never happened he’d be just as happy.

So after ascension, Woljif furnishes his little corner of Siavash’s domain with an immense and gaudy palace that Daeran both mocks and goads him into “improving” in the most tasteless and vulgar ways possible - brocade, leopardskin, huge garish gems, elaborately carved furniture. The only good thing is the Sosiel paintings, but in huge ornate gold frames that do nothing but detract from the art.

But the thing is, it’s part of Siavash’s domain, not Woljif’s own. And because of everything in his life up to now Woljif is sensitive about the gods snubbing him, and he ruminates on it obsessively even while Siavash is trying to get him to relax and enjoy demigodhood.

On the other hand, while Woljif is eager enough for novelty and adventure, hardship of any kind is something he can and does live without. Siavash would happily rough it backpacking the Golden Road, mountaineering or sailing, but unless there’s a nice hotel with breakfast buffet included Woljif is not up.

Siavash in dusty old mortal form setting up a tent and getting a campfire going, and Woljif lying on a magically summoned red velvet couch with his feet up, sipping from a golden goblet studded with rubies and going “Chief, you’re wearin’ me out just watchin’ you.”

All of which is why their hobbies diverge after ascension and they have a few things to figure out.
