Sneaking back iiiin~☆ After a period of being away o/
D-Lister Otome Powers POG? I think SO! CONSIDER:
Tim, out on patrol, things have been... tense. He's gotten Bruce back from the timeline, but it hasn't FIXED anything. Things were said. He spiraled. Trust was betrayed. He doesn't... he doesn't feel like he HAS a home anymore.
Dick feels betrayed and worried TOO. He needed Tim's support. Instead he broke down, went rouge, and nearly DIED. Didn't explain ANYTHING. Now he's drifting away from the family.
Bruce is barely recovered. His family is in pieces around him and he's pretty sure it's his fault.
So... Patrol is... Professional. Tense. Like it has been for days.
Red Robin is checking out some minor disturbance. Discovers clues that it's some INCREDIBLY naive or foolish out-of-towner who thinks they can "make a name for themselves" in America's crime capital. Idiot is going to get himself killed.
But why target a minor gaming company?
No matter, RR can handle it. He's tired, patrols nearly over. Should be quick.
The days after weeks of hurt and hypertense emotions have left him exhausted. Making mistakes he would normally NEVER make. Like going after an unknown alone. No matter how small they SEEM.
You could always be wrong.
And that KILLS.
Batman trained him better then that. Bruce, catches his plan, too late. Is blocks away. Can hear, through Tim's comms, the most terrifying sort of confidence in that opponents voice. Not fool hardy overconfidence. Not arrogance. But "I have a nasty trick that I KNOW you can't counter". Tim. Tim, get out of there! TIM!
Red Robin does not respond.
And Tim? Wakes up with a splitting headache. Too... honestly? What looks A LOT frilly, hyper feminine version of one of Drake Manor's guest rooms. But with "personal touches" added to make it LOOK like someone supposedly lives here. Too generic though. And too artfully placed. It looks like a movie set.
Where the fuck is h-*DING!*
Then a blue screen like some of the holographic screens he's seen before, pops up. "Welcome to ☆~Knights In Gotham~☆! Complete the game or be trapped forever~♡!" It reads in cutesy font.
Well that ONE way to get him out of bed. But unfortunately, it takes less then 15 minutes to confirm that he is, indeed, not in his native reality. MIGHT be drugged or hypnotized. He'll have to test. But the whole new reproductive set, suggest otherwise.
So he pokes around. Speed runs his emotional "I'm trapped, might never see my family again. No. No! I WILL escape!" Character arc/mental breakdown in the shower. Finds some pants.
Figures out what sort of game this is. It's an Otome game. Dating. Based on? His FAMILY. Fffffuck his life.
Okay, should be TOO bad right? People never get their personalities right in fan stuff. Thanks to the Bats being Cryptids. So Tim can just pretend they're other people, right?
Wrong.
The game world he quickly realizes, is using HIS knowledge to fill in the blanks of the massively unfinished framework. This assholes Meta powers? Can only trap him IN here. He's not in control of it. NO ONE IS. Oh, that's so much worse.
Outside? Bruce has BatDad'd panic beat downed the Otome Meta. Where is his BABY BOY!? He can't answer you unconscious, Bruce. Thankfully, Dick is observant. There us a computer on. With Tim on it. He puts two and two together. They are able to keep the power on and transfer the computer to the cave.
Meanwhile? Tim is staring down a Bruce in FULL Brucie Mask. Debating with himself. Because on ONE hand? Childhood wet dreams: Get? But on the OTHER, baggage for daaaaays. And there us no guarantee this isn't a PG title. So like? Bruce would DEFINITELY be the hardest Route, wouldn't he?
He has no idea what he's doing.
He doesn't PLAY these type of games.
He figures, since demon child DOESNT have a reason to hate him here? Probably the safest bet. Especially since he won't feel as bad manipulating a version of him. It should be fine right?
Wrong. He doesn't play these sort of games. Is unaware of how they work and what's at stake. He bungles it. Doesn't play to the troupes, gets his first Bad End. He knew just a touch TOO much, too soon, too openly. Damian's character became convinced he was either a Rouge or an Assassin. But! He got all those "heart event" thingies! Tim mentally protests!
Which is why it doesn't just cut to black, a sudden attack from behind, "Game Over".
No, Tim wakes up behind bars. In a bunker. Nicer then a prison cell, but only just. Because Damian LOVES him. But can not allow him to continue his criminal ways. So he's going to rehabilitate him. By force if necessary. And he knows, because he is not a fool, that Tim does not truely love him. But?
He can fix that too.
They have time.
Outside? Actual Damian is horrified. His feelings towards Drake are... complexe. But this?! Absolutely not! He lunges forward. Dick is trying desperately to hit the Restart. It's not working. Damian hits it HARDER. It works immediately. (They later realize only the "Route" target can restart the game)
Tim wakes up in the starting room.
This time he fuckin LOOKS UP Otome Games on a computer.
Takes a bracing shot of whiskey, because this IS Drake Manor and he knows where his parents hid the good stuff, and tries again. Gets the Neutral End. Fuck! Okay, tries AGAIN. Gets shot, Game Over. Oh god damn it!
He keeps going.
Nothing seems to be WORKING. He's getting stressed. Lonely, desperate, hopelessness trying to set in. He just... just wants to feel WARM you know? Reassured. Held. Knows he's not thinking clearly, but...
So he goes after "Brucie". He KNOWS Bruce. Knows how he picks his one night stands. Knows how to dress up just enough, just OFF enough, to not be suspicious. It's a bad idea. He knows it as he gets dressed. As he arrives. Flirts. Charms and drinks, but not too much. Let's himself be tucked under Bruce's arm. Led away.
Kon always said he was great with his mouth. From the way "Brucie" tenses, like iron under the sild of his suit, holding himself back from grabbing and being rougher then his reputation would allow? He'd say Bruce agrees. Tim certainly puts his all into it. Let's himself lose himself to the rhythm of movement. The scent of Bruce's cologne. The slide over his tounge.
Stolen moments though, aren't enough to get to everything Bruce wants.
The party ends too soon. And Tim leaves with the other guests.
Only to find himself FIRMLY in Bruce's route. The man showing up everywhere. Stealing kisses. Hands disappearing under clothes. Bruce, as he tends too, obsessed. In love. Overwhelming. Tim finally, FINALLY get a Good End.
He also gets fucked, in his bed, within an inch of incoherence, by Batman.
Yet the Game does not release him. Because it did not say "complete A Route" the realse conditions were Complete the GAME. So now Tim has to "win" the others.
All while they watch.
Because THEY are the only ones who can start a new route. Bruce absolutely could have hit that restart once the Good End popped up. Yet... he let the scene play out. Sat, alone, having sent the others to bed... and watched his son get fucked by a version of himself. Watched his son gasp and whimper, cry out and sob, in pleasure.
They each get to watch. As Tim bonds with "them". Spends time with "them".
Eventually, Tim manages the secret Harem Ending. Stumbles free into the waiting arms of his family. They rejoince. But the question remains~! What will they do know? After so long, thinking darkly that they could "do better"? That TIM deserved better then the touch of imposters? That is the question we ask! As I run out of steam and need to sleep! Thoughts?

Playing House
Media: Halloween Ends (2022)
Characters: Corey Cunningham (pre-2019 accident) x female reader
Rating: R or 18+ BECAUSE NO MINORS! Duh, get outta here if you’re not an adult!
CW: Submissive!Corey, Dom!Reader, mommy kink, implied lactation fetish (yeah oops), general mention of mommy issues, hair pulling, handjobs, cunnilingus, lots of general rough play and mean mean teasing... I’m so bad at CW’s...
Notes: I only read through this 2.5 times so if there are mistakes or general bad wording, I apologize. Other than that, y’all keep telling me what you like!
Tagging @nachtmahr666 dunno if this is your speed but here ya go!
It was rare to get to spend time with Corey. You only ever spotted him around town, most often biking to the park to work on internship applications and the like in peace. Outside of that, he seemed to have a short leash from his mother’s house. Nonetheless, anytime he popped up, his sweet but nerdy visage made you get hot. The way his nose crinkled under his heavy glasses, the way chewed on his nails with his head down, the way he always messed with his fluffy hair to get it to stay to the side… You wanted to nibble on him. No, eat him up.
“That’s a face for stepping on or sittin’ on,” you sometimes crassly joked to your friends. They rolled their eyes, not quite getting the appeal. Despite the jokes, you danced around the idea of even flirting with him, never quite acting on your desires.
The far and few moments you got to take him in was when the kids you both babysat had sleepovers. It was unnecessary to have two sitters at the same time, but the kids preferred the extra company, and the parents agreed two made the job easier.
Charlotte, the ten-year-old you looked after—who said you were “cooler than her sixth grade friends”—had offhandedly mentioned, one afternoon, that Elizabeth was staying over Friday night and that “Corey had to come too”.
Corey huh? Your brows perked up. Your thoughts drifted to the skittish, doe-eyed nerd who constantly pushed his glasses up his nose, had Yoo-Hoo bottles sticking out of his backpack, and could spew random information about spacecrafts unprompted. You felt so dumb and silly that reminders of him like those got you excited.
“I think he’s kind of a geek,” Charlotte rattled on, “All he does is read books about computers or whatever. But Elizabeth said he’s nice and lets her stay up late to watch PG-13 movies. So I guess he’s okay.”
You smiled at that, suddenly a bit more interested in working Friday night.
——
Corey hadn’t biked over like he usually did to most places. His mother had dropped him off at the house you two were sitting at, no doubt wanting to make sure things “looked safe”. You saw her face in the shadows of the car as he made his way up the front steps. It was unclear if she was looking at you directly, but you could feel her judging sneer. There was no trust for any other person with her son, but that went doubly for young women.
Moving from the front window where you had been peeping, you scurried to the door, eager to get there before Charlotte or her parents. Without meaning to, you pulled the door open before Corey had a chance to knock, resulting in him getting startled and stumbling back.
“Ah! Oh hey,” he spoke after composing himself. You smirked at how he straightened out his glasses.
“Hi,” you greeted in an overly sweet tone.
“Ready for an exciting night?” he commented with a sarcastic chuckle. The comment was a bit tone deaf, as he had just no idea how exciting you hoped it would be.
——
“Well… the kids are already asleep, which didn’t take much. Not too much else to do.” You grinned, wicked and flirtatious.
The girls had retired early to the bedroom upstairs. They may have realistically been up still, gossiping or reading diary excerpts or something silly. But it was no matter. They were busy with their own things and probably more than happy to be left alone… as were you.
“I could still make some popcorn,” Corey shrugged with a sheepish expression. That was the exact reaction you expected from him.
“I mean… I could still play babysitter,” you went on, laying the playful innocence on thick. “Come on, Corey, we can play house.” You lowered your lids, shooting a hot glance at him. “I can babysit you.”
“Haha, what… what’s that supposed to mean?” There was an awkward nervousness in his voice.
The space between the two of you closed as you extended your arms towards him. You cupped his cheeks and squeezed, mimicking the way one would admire a precious little animal. Behind his thick rimmed glasses, Corey did indeed have big, dark puppy-dog eyes, and at this moment, they seemed chipper but confused.
“Well, I have to get this thing—this paper—done,” he bumbled, “so we can turn on a movie while I do that… And…”
You shook your head, your lips curling up devilishly. You were gonna bite the bullet this time and go for it. “No, we’re not going to do that.” You shook your head. You noticed how flushed he was becoming.
“Um… What…”
You cut off his trailing words by lunging towards him, pinning him under your sprawled legs. Reaching both hands down on his wrists, you clamped him onto the couch. His eyes widened, and you could swear his glasses were fogging up ever so slightly. Under your skirt, hiding the intimacy of your crotch over his, your actions were validated by a growing bulge pressing against your tender spots.
“Heh, what’re you doing?” he tried to play off his awkwardness with a laugh.
“What are you doing?” you replied, emphasizing your point by grinding into his hardness.
He tried pushing you off gently to get up. “Stop kidding around.” He swung his legs off the side of the couch as you slid off his lap, much to your dismay. But you weren’t giving up.
“I’m not kidding, little boy.” With both hands, you gave him a solid push to the floor. You looked around quickly to make sure it didn’t alert the girls.
His face at first expressed protest and indignation, but he narrowed his eyes, glaring over his frames. Slowly, he bit his lip, taking in the situation. You noted that he was still visibly hard—more so than initially.
“Do you want to have fun?” you asked sweetly. “Are you going to be good?” You walked towards him cautiously and pressed your shoe to his neck. To your surprise, he tilted his head back, welcoming the rough touch.
“Yes… mommy…” The last word was embarrassingly mumbled, hushed. You felt how he swallowed tensely, the subtle movement in his throat tight under the sole of your shoe.
“What was that?” you snipped, sharp but still with a slight teasing laugh. It was partially a mask, though. The truth was, the surprising response turned you on instantly. This was interesting…
“Yes mommy,”Corey breathed out, dragging out his words with both intention and shame.
That did it. In a swift motion, you removed your foot from his throat and grabbed at the hair on the crown of his head.
“Call me that again,” you instructed.
“Mommy,” he muttered, face becoming rosier. Pulling against your grasp, he craned his head towards your chest, first exploring a bit of bare skin with his tongue… then raking teeth along the upper curve of your breast.
You clawed at his brown hair again, bringing him to face you. “What are you doing?” You did your best to keep a stern, domineering air.
“I… I want a taste…” His voice slanted into somewhat of a whine, desperate, ashamed, and aroused. His hesitant hands drifted to feel up your breasts. You did want to feel those sharp little teeth on your skin, tickling and stinging, with intermittent brushes from those lips. It wound you up how animal-like his pointed teeth were, always contrasting his sweet, wide smile. He had the grin of a wolf, and the demeanor of a pup.
“You wait,” you warned, temporarily releasing his tufts of hair. There was no graceful way to expose your chest, so you rolled your shirt and bra up to your clavicle. Once in position, your hand clamped the back of Corey’s head and pressed his face into your bosom.
With ferocity, he nipped and sucked on your soft flesh, letting his tongue run messy, wet circles around your nipples. You never could have imagined such lust-driven, feral behavior from him.
It struck you (at a rather weird moment) that this must have intermingled with Corey’s complicated issues with his mother. And maybe also his affinity for drinking milk. But that was a lot to unpack, possibly for later. If you even cared to revisit the thought at all. It all felt too good, too nasty to care.
“I just wanna drag you around and keep you on your knees,” you grunted, letting your near-incoherent, secret musings float to the surface. Part of you wanted to laugh a little. While he wasn’t a particularly tall guy, he was still bigger than you. The visual of leading him around was a bit silly but it also sent a small twinge deep within you.
At the words, Corey moved to face you, slipping down from your breasts, sliding his hands down to your thighs. Roughly, you pushed him further down, until he was kneeling before you. His eyes peered up at you deliciously through a few loose strands. The usually combed hair had become tussled, letting some of his natural curls come free.
“Am I being good?” he asked, voice somehow soft but deep at the same time.
You responded with yet another tug on his fluffy hair. This time, you could see him wincing harder, brows raising in pain, eyes watering. “Good boys do what they’re told,” you went on. “Will you do what Mommy says?”
He nodded, a tear escaping off one of his fluttering lashes. The tears weren’t uncomfortable—you wanted to make sure it wasn’t going too far. No, the dimples framing his mouth lengthened in a deviant, pleased smile. There was a mix of emotions in the expression, but desire and relief were definitely a couple.
You let him go, as he sat back onto his heels, still facing your lap. As you pulled his glasses off and flung them aside, you lowered yourself to the couch, opening your lap to him. Immediately, he reached a hand forward, fixing to pull back the hem of your panties, but you slapped him away.
“You wait,” you chastised again. His expression turned to a bratty pout in response. There were those dewy eyes peering out from under heavy lids.
In an intentionally slow performance, you slid the simple black panties off, giving a final kick of the fabric past Corey’s shoulder. “Is this what you want?”
He nodded patiently.
“Then you have to ask like a good boy,” you told him, in a serious, hushed tone. You all were already doing the best to be quiet, but you dropped your instructions just below a whisper. To be extra cheeky, extra teasing, you traced your fingers from his forehead, to his cheek, to his lips.
He melted into the sensation, but being mindful enough to straighten up and keep his hands behind his back while kneeling. “Please?” he breathed out, eyes closed.
The response came in you gripping his chin and pulling him towards your open legs. Corey hesitantly tested the waters, approaching slowly first with his tongue. He went through the motion like he was taking his first lick off an ice cream cone. His tongue smoothed between your folds and worked up, slipping up and around your clit. The rhythm and pressure were just right, almost as if he was trying to match every throb. He began to switch up sensations, plunging that tongue deep within, lapping up your wetness. What had almost instantly done you in was when he went to suck directly on your rosy little clit, teeth grazing, full lips enveloping, the works. That was your weakness. Your thighs involuntarily tightened around his face.
It wasn’t supposed to happen so soon, but you were overtaken by the power and overstimulation. You caught yourself panting hard, clawing into Corey’s hair again, needing something to grab onto.
Finally, your heartbeat had started to settle, but your breathing was still hard. Corey emerged from your thighs, pink lips glossy with your wetness. His eyes looked up, needy. Fatigue had thwarted your ability to speak, but you moved to take charge once more. Sliding from the couch, you pushed him back against the floor, settling atop his lap this time, hands acting fast to undo his pants. The process was hurried, both from the need for instant, animal release, but also because he had already wet his pants with precum. Once his length was exposed, you placed a firm grip around the tender skin, matching your strokes to his desperate thrusting. Poor Corey was so hungry for the release that he began to whine and grunt. Hot tears trickled down the sides of his temples, dotting the carpet beside him.
“Shhh,” you hushed, half-forcefully and half-dotingly. You cupped your free hand over his mouth to keep him quiet. He looked so weak, so pathetic under the dominance of your hands. But he wanted every touch, and he would give in to your every demand for the pleasure.
His back arched against the floor, thrashing into orgasm. Hot streams trickled over your hand and onto his own sweat-slicked skin, spilling over his hip bones and into his navel. Once you had lifted your hand from his mouth, his gasping sounded more intense. All he could do was stare up at you, dazed.
Keeping up the act, at least for one more minute, you offered a small smile, wiping your hand on his pants. “You should clean yourself up,” you suggested, as you got up to leave the room. You intended to freshen up yourself and return as if nothing weird had happened at all.
Looking over your shoulder before exiting, you could see an exhausted Corey bite his lip.
“Are we… gonna play house again next weekend?” he questioned with a bashful smile.
“Only if you’re good,” you replied.

Shadow and Bone's Patrick Gibson on becoming fan-favourite Nikolai Lantsov and the power of the Grisha fandom.
[interview transcript under the cut]
PATRICK GIBSON
Shadow and Bone's Patrick Gibson on becoming fan-favourite Nikolai Lantsov and the power of the Grisha fandom.
Words by Ella Bardsley
Season one of Shadow and Bone saw the world (willingly) catapulted into the Grishaverse, and the entrance of Nikolai Lantsov in season two definitely gave us a reason to return. Taking on one of the most beloved characters in Leigh Bardugo's novels, OA actor Patrick Gibson plays the Ravkan prince who spends a fair amount of time sneakily disguised as the infamous privateer, Sturmhond. No spoilers here, but the prince's future was left more than uncertain. Now that the second season of Shadow and Bone has come to a close, and we're waiting for confirmation on the third, we caught up with the 28-year-old actor on his preffered Grisha power, weirdest audition, and what he's looking for in his next role.
Ella Bardsley: Hey Patrick! What's been your most bizarre audition in your career thus far?
Patrick Gibson: That is tough. There have been some shockers. But nowadays a lot of the time you're doing self-tapes at home. Generally, the weirdest are doing intimate and romantic scenes with close friends or family. Ah yes, there have been a few of them. Nothing quite bests the acting skills like having to convincingly flirt with your own dad.
EB: What was your reaction when you first read the script for Shadow and Bone season two?
PG: I was excited. That's one of my favourite parts of the process. Getting to sit down with this crisp new script and discovering for the first time what exactlyy it is you're going to be doing for the nest few months and getting to dig out your character in more detail. I have been a big fan of our showrunner Eric Heisserer ever since he wrote Arrival , so it was awesome getting to read what him, Daegan Fryklind, and the incredible team of writers had created that first time.
EB: What has been the most surpraising fan reaction or interaction you've had since the release of the show?
PG: I have to say, it's always so lovely meeting or interacting with people who are fans of the show. You're often in a vacuum when you make something, and so to get to meet people who connect with it and are brought joy by it is really nice. A group of fans made a book for me with messages and pictures recently, and it was really touching.[*] They put a lot of work into it. And I'm also aware that it's not really about me. People are passionate about and love the character which is cool because I get to share that enjoyment with them.
EB: As an actor, what was the most challenging aspect of portraying Nikolai's character, and how did you approach it?
PG: Stepping into a character that is so loved by fans of the books is a daunting thing in itself. I found treading the line between honouring who he is on the page while allowing myself to add my own spin on it was one of the more challenging elements. For the most part though, I just had a lot of fun. There was absolutely some wishfulfillment in there for me. Playing a character who carries themselves in a carefree way is always fun and encourages you to make bold choices and let go.
EB: If you could switch roles with any other character in Shadow and Bone , who wolud it be and why?
PG: I honestly tried to think who, but everyone is so perfectly cast I couldn't imagine it any other way.
EB: If you could have any Grisha power from the series in real life, which one would you choose and how would you use it?
PG: I would say a Durast. I'd like to be able to build things, heal people, and manipulate objects on a molecular level.
EB: Do you find yourself delving into rabbit holes while you do research for a role? What's your creative process?
PG: I've found the process varies depending on the job, although it does always have similiarities. It always starts with the script, digging through it for clues. I find the best writing keeps giving you things the more time you spend with it. That process of digging is exciting, you might read the same line a few weeks in and are suddenly struck with a realisation or make a mental connection, I love when action has a physical element or a skill that's required to develop. It just means you get to spend more time with the character floating around the subconscious. I really do think as you're learning skills, if you have the character somewhere in mind, it solidifies it. You get to live with the character in a different way.
EB: What's your on-set pet peeves?
PG: I don't really have any! I have things that get me really excited to be on set. I mean, maybe people complaining? When people forget the privilege they have to be doing this job as an actor. I've felt both sides of it... being so hungry to work I would do anything, and being exhausted and fed up and wishing you had a 9-5. And yeah, it's still a job, but it's important not to lose sight of the joy of it.
EB: Finally, in what kind of role you want to see yourself next?
PG: Genre-wise, I don't have any particular preference, but I'm always looking for that thing I can get lost in. When you find something and know this is what you want to make your world for the next few months. I'm drawn to stuff that's intangible[?]** or seemingly "weird"[?]** stories that are given scale by the detail and care they're told with. There was a film recently called Full Time by Eric Gravel , which I think perfectly encapsulated that.
*[OP pauses the transcription to squeel with joy. Patrick is very likely refering to the fanbook gifted to him during ASOCAS 2 Empire Convention in Paris in May 2023. My artworks are in there, and he saw them, and his jaw dropped, and this is still the highlight of my life]
**[note: I can't decipher those two words from the pics, this is my best guess.]

Do you have any takes on how certain cc's are portrayed in fabfictions? Like Jimmy. I hate the uwu-fication of him
Generally I dont care when people make the characters ooc. I love happiness and whimsy, so I just think let people do what they wanna.
(I do the same sometimes lets be real. I mean, Cannibal Jimmy? That's something FAR from being cannon, and I do like me some what if scenarios.)
But ig those aree just my thoughts and opinions down there:
But ig if we speaking about Jimmy, well, I don't like when people make him TOTALLY hopeless. like a damsel in distress. He's competent enough. Goofy, uncareful, loud and totally obnoxious at times? Ye! But he isn't hopeless, he has his things going for him. He likes depreciative humor as well, he complains loudly, but you can always tell when he is gen upset or when he's just playing along. He tends to poke the bear and when he angers it he will run for the hills. People just yk, forgetting Jimmy's quick and effective comedic timing, that isnt veery like obnoxious to the viewers BC he knows when to shut up and when to take the lead.
I'm ngl I dont read TOO many Martyn ff but ig I have a thing for him that some people forget. Once again amazing comedian, but unlike others I've seen, he has a thing for jokes that boarder inappropriate and pg 13+ (well, tbf depending who he plays with, bc on his streams you can throw out the pg shit). He's always dramatic, over dramatic but he KEEPS the light tone of interactions, when he IS threatening people often times it feels genuinely light hearted but you can tell HE IS going to go through it. Also I was talking about it before hand but Martyn, hes loyal to a fault. Unlike certain people like to say and how he HIMSELF is saying. Martyn sticks with one person and is overprotective of them. He isnt going to let anybody hurt them and he keeps his allies near (see Liml Scott or even SL Jim how martyn even after Jimmys death kept him close. Hell! There was ven mumbo and Lizzy that he kept near even when they died. Martyn IS loyal). But Martyn's loyalty isnt CONSTANT. He is loyal until the veery end, until he HAS to fight his allies to win. Like Killing Scott in the last second to win Liml. While I agree with Martyn that he is an ally who you should keep at an arms reach, he is also an ally that you can keep close until its the end. Bc you CAN be sure he will betray you in the moment of need

⚠️ Warnings!: None.
______________________________________________________________
A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?
✨ The kind of guy who would probably be obsessed with going to live music events with his S/O. Wants to show them what kind of music inspires him and spread that same inspiration.
✨ Knows some of the coolest forgotten/hidden locations and will take his partner on spontaneous trips to explore. Is a great storyteller and will make up some fun backstories to locations which they won't always know if they’re true or just him exaggerating details.
✨ If his partner is as into D&D as he is, then he’d love to have them join the sessions with the rest of the Hellfire Club (just don’t expect favouritism during games).
B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?
✨ Eddie loves someone who is just as obsessively nerdy as he is. Even if they aren’t into exactly the same music or other interests as he is, he just finds their passion very infectious.
✨ People who can match his energy are also very attractive. Someone who can be just as excitable or can vibe with his high energy attitude.
C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?
✨ Eddie is a great person to have around when his partner is going through something. He'll listen to them without interrupting and hold their hand.
✨ Will try to help his S/O feel better by giving them a healthy distraction with his funny stories about everyday life, or try to use humor in order to make them feel better.
✨ Knows just the right music to put on in order to relax his partner, and definitely has a mixed tape made for such an occasion.
D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?
✨ Eddie likes to live in the moment, and that moment is being with his partner. He wants to just take life as it comes and see where things lead with his S/O.
✨ Has dreams of taking his music on the road, taking his S/O along. If his partner is also musically inclined then he'll probably want to play as well as write music with them.
E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?
✨ Isn't really into being dominant and will often just let his partner take the lead.
✨ Although, he does prefer to have an equal balance and will try to take the lead on some occasions. This can especially be the case if his S/O has a very dominant personality.
F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?
✨ In arguments Eddie can be kind of childish, especially when he knows he's in the wrong. He will admit it, but will be a dick about it sometimes.
✨ Depending on how heated fights can get, Eddie will sometimes just walk out to cool off and his partner might not hear from him for a couple days until he's cooled down.
✨ If his S/O in the wrong he's generally pretty accepting of apologies if he believes they are genuine.
✨ If he's in the wrong he'll be pretty guilty and distraught about his behavior. He might go a bit over the top trying to show how sorry he is. This might be writing his S/O a song and performing for them at their window at night.
G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?
✨ Eddie is a very grateful boi. He loves being with his partner and is happy for having any moment he can with them.
✨ He appreciates their support for him with all his creative and nerdy endeavours.
✨ The fact that his S/O doesn't judge him for his unorthodox behaviour and finds it just another charming part of who he is, makes Eddie feels very special.
H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?
✨ Generally pretty honest with his feelings and emotions. Keeps most things up front and center.
✨ However, he can tend to keep some of the harder stuff going on in his life from his S/O and tries to put on a front of humor or good nature to play off any stuff that may be going on behind the scenes.
✨ Might also try to keep things he thinks will hurt his partners feelings. Won't tell them honestly if something they make sucks for fear of upsetting them or hurting their feelings.
I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?
✨ If his S/O stays with him for long enough to get Eddie to open up about the difficult things going on in his life, he might find inspiration to be more constructive and open to those close to him.
✨ Might give Eddie a fresh perspective on those he thought were one-dimensional (i.e. jocks/basketball players).
J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?
✨ Eddie can be a pretty jealous dude. Although he'll be loathe to admit it.
✨ He'll bottle it up and his feelings might come out in passive-agressive childishness or trying to get back at the person who is showing his S/O affection.
✨ Some of this behaviour may be directed at his partner, but if they bring up what the hell is going on, Eddie will finally admit begrudgingly his jealousy.
K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?
✨ A pretty decent kisser, if not a bit sloppy.
✨ Very enthusiastic and passionate though, and willing to go at the pace his S/O feels comfortable with.
✨ Loves giving forehead kisses to his S/O.
L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?
✨ Eddie would tell his partner spontaneously in the heat of the moment.
✨ Wouldn't notice his admission until his S/O mentions his sudden accidental confession, and that's when he'd really get into how he feels for them.
M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?
✨ Eddie isn't really traditional or focused on the future when it comes to marriage.
✨ His S/O will most likely have to propose to him in order to get him interested in the idea of getting married.
✨ Doesn't really want a big wedding.
✨ Will suggest jokingly that they both do a Vegas style wedding, complete with Elvis impersonator.
N icknames - What do they call their s/o?
✨ Likes the idea of jokingly calling his partner "babe" in a mock surfer accent as a weird joke.
✨ Also might call his S/O a shortened version of their name if they have a longer name.
O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?
✨ A real big teddy bear when he's in love. Just wants to come up behind his S/O and give them hugs.
✨ Eddie also loves expressing his love through mixed tapes that he makes for his partner for when they're apart.
P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?
✨ Eddie is fine with PDA. Is happy to do anything his S/O is also comfortable with.
✨ Really likes being handsy with his partner though. From hugs to embraces, to picking them up and running around with them like they're a sack of potatoes.
Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.
✨ Plans some really creative dates which always end up taking their S/O on a new adventure that they are not soon to forget.
R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?
✨ Moderately romantic, but not in a traditional way.
✨ Isn't going to wine and dine their S/O in a traditional night out, but will instead attempt to cook them a meal based around their favourite music (will probably burn the food) and take them on a urban exploring.
S upport - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?
✨ Eddie will always be there S/O's cheerleader for whatever they want to do in life.
✨ As long as he gets to stick around to watch them succeed and your ambitions don't end up separating you forever, he's gonna be in your corner.
T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?
✨ Eddie is all about spontaneity, so doing something new in order to spice up a dull routine is something which is going to be a regular theme in his relationship with his partner.
✨ He wants things to never be boring in a relationship. If your getting into to much of a routine then you aren't in a real relationship.
U nderstanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?
✨ Very empathetic. Tries to understand and relate to his partner as much as possible, especially when they are under a lot of emotional pressure.
✨ Even when Eddie doesn't understand what his partner is going through, he tries his best to listen and be there.
✨ Might sometimes need to be told when is a good time to just listen instead of talking nonstop.
V alue - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?
✨ If Eddie is really in love with his partner then they will mean as much to him as all his passions for the creative stuff he does combined.
✨ They are his rock and his inspiration for creativity. They're a part of his world and something he won't ever want replaced.
W ild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.
✨ Enjoys when his S/O braids his hair or gives him head massages.
✨ Will sit on the floor while they're on the couch and let them just play with his hair while he relaxes.
X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?
✨ Big cuddle bug.
✨ Likes to pull his partner onto the couch and just hold them. Cuddle them until they insist they need to get up to get/do something.
Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?
✨ Is someone who yearns deeply. Will call every day they're away to ask about they're S/O's day and bug them about all the stuff they've got to do together when they get back.
✨ Can get annoying, but he means well. Just gets a little sad when they're not around to hang out.
Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?
✨ If Eddie's truly in love for his S/O there is nothing he won't do to try and be with his partner.
✨ The only thing he want do is try to change himself for his partner. Eddie won't compromise his individuality for anyone.
✨ Individuality is extremely important to him and being told to change who he is if he wants to stay with someone is a dealbreaker in his book.

Every time the stalking trope comes out, I am always once again baffled (well not really) why we don't just have more "dark" BL's. We've really seen an advancement the last few years on BL consent issues, etc, but it does seem like they continue to pop up when we least expect them. I've been thinking about this topic somewhat because of the Fire-Dynamite dynamic in Cooking Crush.
And at some point, I just want to reach into the writers room and just be like "Okay fine, you want to make a stalker storyline that ends up being romantic. Just commit to the bit. Just go full dark romance and let an actor be a creepy little stalker." I still have issues with History 4's choice to include SA, but like they just fully went there. YongJie was an unhinged little sociopath who broke literally all the boundaries, and you know what? He still ended up with the guy he wanted. (And also, while maybe a controversial statement, XingSi sort of liked YongJie's obsessive nature)
But then they try to conform these darker tropes to somehow fit inside a lighthearted GMMTV BL, and I'm just like "please stop with the quasi-dark tropes masquerading as PG tv series." Among what I am sure are other writing issues (this is not like the only reason issues appear), I feel like they think darker tropes don't have mass market appeal (and also are not in line with GMMTV's image), yet they know that audiences do like them deep down.
I feel like Mame has continually proven that there is a market for unhealthy dynamics. These tropes didn't develop out of thin air - even though many early Yaoi tropes are no longer in favor, they cemented themselves as tropes for a reason. So writers try to sanitize them for the general population, and then we end up with situations where the character's behavior feels wildly inappropriate for the show they're in.
Sometimes I want my sweet romance about a chef and a doctor falling in love. And sometimes I want my stalking step-brothers romance. What I do not want is my stalking step-brothers being watered down and put into GMMTV.
Yeah, I think you're right. The biggest problem with a lot of these tropes is how they're played rather than the trope itself.
Because Fire and Dynamite, next to Ten and Prem, are just totally out of place and press what is, frankly, creepy and dark into a very soft and sweet place that makes it feel... icky. Very icky, to put it maturely.
I admit that I would hesitate to watch most Thai darker BLs because, well, MAME always proves to me that not only do I not enjoy how they interpret these tropes but also that the fandom's way of romanticizing their actions makes my skin itch.
I definitely enjoy some aspects of creepier and darker BLs but this might be a Thai thing for me. Japan tends to make it work but Thailand just leaves me feeling worse about it by the end.
But that's about the styles. Japan embraces what they do and they let the creepier bits breath and exist and simply be while Thailand's goal is always to make the darker bits feel soft and romantic by the end.
Taiwan kinda balances the two and Korean tilts on way or the other but also just doesn't tend to go dark.
I mean, HIStory 4 was clear that, yes, by the end of it that was exactly what XingSi wanted. I do wish they'd just stayed out of the SA waters, yes, but the rest of the stalking and obsessing worked for the show and the characters 100% for me. No denials. It took a bit to get there but they absolutely made it work because they embraced it.
Embrace the darkness, Thailand, and let your characters embrace it! If Dynamite's stalking had been faced head on and not just handwaved away with a yas queen and the idea that Fire needed to be 'pushed'... it wouldn't make me hate them as much as I do.

Just Another Day: All You Need to Know
WAZUP GUYZ!? I realized I never shared anything about the characters in most of my content publicly, so I decided to make a short guide on the basics of JAD for those who are interested!
______________________
"He who never rests, who loves being with his friends, explore the world until the end. Needless to say, they've seen things none can explain, but hey... it's just another day!"
Tumblr media
DESCRIPTION
Just Another Day is a PG indie series, following a dude who loves to explore what the world has to offer while he still can, alongside his friends! Even if it means all that exploring often leads them to face danger, the thrill cures their boredom anyway.
WHO ARE THEY?
Tumblr media
Oh, them? Those are the main three: Kyle, Mike, and Ash.
"We aren't all that perfect, but we're alwayz up for sum fun!"
They share a strong bond built on years of friendship. They are often loyal to each other, and if things ever go wrong, they'll always have each others backs... sort of. Their friendship is filled with adventures and shared interests, such as exploring and playing games together. They also like to vlog random stuff they do, just because they think it's funny or content worthy.
However, they can sometimes be too competitive or arrogant, leading to arguments and conflicts, especially when it comes to games or other activities where they want to outdo each other. But despite these flaws, their friendship endures, and they always find a way to reconcile and continue their adventures together.
Tumblr media
Kyle
He embodies the curiosity and energy typically associated with pre-adolescence. He likes to spend time with his friends Mike and Ash, he's mostly curious or bored and likes to explore surroundings he isn't familiar with. He can also come off as competitive when it comes to fun games he wants to take part in.
Tumblr media
Mike
Kyle's bestest friend; his partner in crime. He has a funny and loud yet caring and gentle personality. He's a coward and a sweetie, he would never hurt a fly. but if you mess with his loved ones, he will end your life. He has a habit of eating. He's also pretty good at math, but he doesn't bring it up much.
Tumblr media
Ash
She's trendy, short-tempered, and a bit sassy. She finds humor in situations and can be honest and genuine. Ash is into fiction books, K-dramas, and has expertise in romantic relationship advice. While she can be violent and aggressive when provoked, she is generally a nice person.
But wait! there's another fella...
Tumblr media
it's Frank, the robot!
"They're so annoying, they never let me do cool trickz! but they do all the chorez for me, so whateva. It's cool, I guezz."
They share a unique bond, with Frank serving as both a friend and a caretaker to Kyle. Frank's overprotective nature can sometimes smother Kyle, making him feel restricted or controlled. So he often takes their assistance for granted, failing to appreciate the extent of their care and support.
Although Kyle mostly seems pretty annoyed by their presence, he doesn't realize how much he needs them around. Not even just because he could potentially be in danger in person, but also for the sake of his sanity whenever no one else is with him at home.
Tumblr media
Frank
They're a robot designed by Kyle's parents to watch over and serve Kyle while they're not present. They're a very nice and kind robot, only ever showing pure kindness and sympathy. They will do anything to make sure he's healthy and safe. They also try to be funny sometimes, but Kyle and his friends just think it's lame.
Tumblr media
Despite being the literal shield of the group, Kyle and the others often find Frank's attempts at humor annoying, and they occasionally tease Frank for being a robot, which can hurt their feelings despite their lack of emotions. Additionally, their literal-mindedness and occasional misunderstandings of human emotions can lead to friction with the group.
However, despite these challenges, Frank doesn't really mind the treatment. It's kinda their job to watch over them. As long as Kyle and the others are still alive and kickin', Frank's happy!
______________________
Anyways, that's all you need to know about Just Another Day (JAD) for now!
Though you might have noticed I didn't mention other characters that were also present in some of my content. that's because I only added the more important aspects of JAD; Those fellas were more so just background characters. I don't mind sharing about them though! I just didn't wanna bother adding them in this post is all.
Thx 4 Reading! Hope this helped. ^^ If you have any questions, just ask in the Q&A!

WELCOME!!!!!!
Welcome to my little corner of the universe!! Happy to have ya!!
My name is Felix! Short for Felixian, long for Ian. You can call me any of the three, but I'm most used to Felix. I'm a trans guy who uses he/they/it pronouns!!
My persona (and IEYTD fan character) is Agent Felix! He's an agent-in-training with no handler, and is mostly working at solving stuff without using technology. He used to work for Dr Zoraxis in that field, not really caring if he got paid or not since he was doing what he loved. Eventually, he turned to be a reformed villain after hearing about Agent Pheonix's work. He's pretty gullible, and could switch back to the evil side if persuaded enough, but since he constantly wears an agency t-shirt he'll stick with the agency for a long time. (The agency knew they could manipulate him into staying for that reason.) He doesn't have a handler- in fact, he's been mostly self-training since everyone's kinda scared of him. (He has REALLY sharp teeth and can't bite anyone because of that. He has bit people in the past out of reflexes. He's working on it :D ) He's startled really easily and can barely remember simple things- he jumps at any loud noise, forgets where he puts his shoes, etc., yet somehow he remembers where people leave their stuff and forget. He's really helpful like that. He's always loved helping people, good or bad. He doesn't have telekinesis... yet. He's trying to replicate the kinesium device implant so it can be used for new agency members like him. He's also trying to figure out a safer, less terrifying way for it to be implanted.
By the way, if Felix hugs you then you are special to him in some way!! He loves hugs but is generally touch-repulsed UNLESS he really wants to hug the person. So it's really rare for him to hug anyone. Congrats to anyone he's hugged already!
Agent Felix is basically just me as a goober agent!! So please be nice!! If you're mean, we'll probably take it as a joke or something-
Oh, and feel free to be weird around me! ...Not like. Sexual weird or anything- I'd like to keep this PG/PG-13 :'D (Horror stuff is accepted!! I love that stuff)
Fanart is also highly appreciated and encouraged!! You have no idea how much my day gets brightened up when I see that stuff. (It's like anti-depressants for me haha)
Asks are accepted!! You can ask about anything as long as it follows the rules!!
Rules:
-Nothing sexual (Flirting is ok but there's a good chance it'll fly right over my head)
-Nothing that is like. Super weird (simping is- well- I'm not sure?? I've never had it happen before so...)
-Be nice!! No bullying!!
-Don't be LGBT-phobic because I'm trans and bi + ace and so is Agent Felix!!
-Don't like.. ask for art because I'm very tentative about it and only doodle what I really want to doodle unless I get something in return (Art trades are okay sometimes!! Just ask!!)
Felix reference!!!
Tumblr media
Please don't steal like actually I will start sobbing
If you need to contact me more efficiently my username on Discord is telekinesium !!
random Agent Felix facts under the cut hehe
-He's a teenager, but the agency has no idea. He was known by Zoraxis and his operatives as the Teen Prodigy. Sometimes used as a compliment, the rest of the time used as a spite name.
-Self-taught in everything he believes he needs to know- science, math, art, English and Spanish. Science includes all forms of science but mostly geology, technology and psychology. He loves researching mental disorders, for some reason. (Some of the things listed were taught by Zor himself.)
-He also loves playing piano! He overheard someone playing it when he was about six years old and managed to convince them into giving him lessons.
-He's very sensitive to sound so it's likely that if an alarm goes off he'll just be stuck there covering his ears.
-He loves singing, too! His voice is high-pitched and gives him disphoria pretty massively, so he sings to relieve it. (He loves his singing voice!)
-The Death Engine actually traumatized him. He refuses to talk about it :')
-He's very weather-sensitive. As soon as it gets colder than usual he'll be wearing clothes for winter while it's only fall. He'll keep that outfit for a few months then switch to something less heavy. Same for summer- as soon as it gets hot he'll be in short sleeves and shorts, maybe flip flops if it's 5⁰ above normal. Then he'll ease back into regular clothes.
-He's the reason why Dr Zor is evil

Burden or Expectation
Book: Open Heart (pre series)
Characters: Tobias Carrick, F!OC Bethany Carrick(née Lewis), M!OC Edward Dwight Carrick.
Warnings: swearing, mentions of past sexual indiscretions
Category: Angst
Rating: PG
Word count: 1441
Summary: Tobias questions some decisions he has made in his life after a heated confrontation with his dad.
Authors note: So I have Tobias as being a single man. There has been the occasional time where he has questioned this but generally he is happy with his decision. This is set when Tobias is 35, so before book 1. This is the time he questioned his decision the most. Thank you @jerzwriter for the Totally Tobias Tuesday that inspired this work.
🦶🏽🦶🏽🦶🏽🦶🏽🦶🏽🦶🏽🦶🏽🦶🏽🦶🏽🦶🏽🦶🏽🦶🏽
Christmas 2017, Philadelphia.
For the first time in what seemed like an eternity Tobias was heading home for Christmas. Tobias loved the Lewis family Christmas. He has many fond memories of Christmas spent with his mum’s family and later assisting with the food drive at their church when he was old enough. It was with his mum’s side that he was able to truly enjoy and appreciate the joys of Christmas. His mother’s neighbourhood was a far cry from the South End of Boston but he always enjoyed coming back.
He pulled up to his mum’s house and she was sitting on the porch.
“Good to see you ma,” said Tobias as he embraced her.
“Good to see you, Tobias. You are looking well.”
“I am always happy to come back here, no matter how brief. You know that.”
“I am, how is work?”
“Busy, being a trauma doctor and on a another team makes for being busy. My latest article in the New England Journal of Medicine seemed well received.”
Tobias sat down to afternoon tea and was caught on all the happenings with his mum’s family.
“And daddy dearest?” Asked Tobias.
“I wish you would not call him that…”
“I have called him worse ma.” Said Tobias.
“I know.” Said Beth, “he is still your father at end of the day, Tobias.”
“And a bang up job he did, barely bothering to try and make an effort in attending things, and when he does bringing his latest conquest and when he is not working or sleeping around, spent the time criticizing me for my choices in what I did at college.”
“There has always being expectation of preferred college courses within that family and I am so proud of you for choosing your own path…”
“And I have always appreciated that, Ma.” Said Tobias.
They had a light dinner and prepped some of the food for the next day.
“It would be nice if you bought someone home with you one of these times.” Said Beth in jest.
Tobias winced. He knew one person who would have loved a Lewis family Christmas and they were still not friends.
“I know the two directions you are angling ma. I am happily single, my life is full and I am not missing not having a serious relationship.”
“And Ethan?”
Tobias again winced. “He has his own life ma.”
Tobias was not lying but he knew that it took a lot for Ethan to trust him back in college and that was ruined in a moment of stupidity.
“Well I am still sad that after all this time you have remained on the outer. Life is too short for such grudges.”
“I know ma, I know but if you are someone who has found trusting people difficult…”
Beth nodded in understanding. They finished the preparations and they turned in for the night.
The next day was Christmas. His aunts, uncles and cousins all converged and enjoyed a feast. Tobias had not remained overly close to his cousins but it was always enjoyable catching up with them all. Tobias was the only one who worked in the medical field, many of his cousins were teachers or social workers working within their communities. Tobias always found their stories of their work fascinating as they did his.
The meal as always was enjoyable and the grown ups all sat down and watched the kids play with their new toys. One thing Tobias loved about his cousins is that none of them questioned him about his lack of children or when he will have any. He enjoyed his cousins kids though and they seemed to appreciate him.
The next day came. Tobias was enjoying his time at home until he saw a car pull up. He had not seen his dad since he graduated medical school but he knew it was him.
“Tobias, son, how are you?”
“As if you fully care, father but I am well.”
“Well Boston seems to be agreeing with you.”
“It has. Now please leave.”
“I thought you would be happy to see me.”
Tobias rolled his eyes.
“Seriously, my feelings towards you have not and will not change.”
“No Mrs Carrick?”
“Ma is home.”
“Not what I meant, Son.” Said Edward, curiously. “You are 35son…”
“And what does age have to do with it? Huh?” Stated Tobias, rather annoyed. “Just because you had 2 failed marriages and I shudder to think how many affairs by the time you were my age…”
“What, don’t you want to continue the family name?”
“What some pretentious tradition of alternating between Dwight and Theodore? Or more lawyers to make all our lives difficult? Surely any illegitimate children you have could carry on the legacy just as well.”
Edward was taken aback.
“You need to settle down, Son.”
“No, I fucking hell do not have to, especially if it is at your behest! Again please leave.”
“A man of your age should be settled.”
“Who says I am not, I own a nice house, a fulfilling career, I have all I need.”
“You need a wife, son.”
“No I do not and even if I was seeing anyone whom I thought I could and would settle with, I certainly would not be informing you.”
“Why not, you are still my son.”
“Yeah well you could have fooled me!”
Bethany could hear the escalating voices and she came out to investigate.
“Edward, what brings you here?”
“Came to see Tobias since I heard he was coming down.”
“Where are your manners Tobias, come in Edward.”
Edward enters and Tobias follows.
“Seriously father, why now? If memory serves, you have made no effort to see me since I graduated medical school and the only two things you did was show off your latest conquest who if I recall was same age as I was when I started medic school at the time and state how much and I quote “a fucking failure because I graduated second in the class.” I had a GPA of 3.97. I found a niche in trauma, I have been published and in the process of being the head of trauma and on a diagnostic team also so again, how is the being in your words a fucking failure?”
“Well you were not the top, you did not get into a top notch residency and your lack of wife…”
“Not a top residency, it was and still is a top residency program and it was a great experience and stop being a hypocrite. If marriage was all it was cracked up to be then you would still be married to my mother and honoured your vows.”
Tobias gets up to leave the room and stops at the door. “For the record father, I am happy with my lot in life.” He walks upstairs and packs his bag. Beth follows.
“Leaving already?”
“Well if he is going to just sit there and criticise my life choices then I will leave. Sorry ma but there is only so much of that man I can take.”
Tobias packs his bag and heads to his car.
“I hope you are happy, once again ruining what has generally being a happy time. Since I did not make myself clear enough the last time I will repeat myself and I would much appreciate you doing something that is obviously against your principles and honour my request and do not contact me again.”
Tobias started his journey back home to Boston. He was annoyed that his trip had been cut short. What was bugging him more though was his dad’s opinions of him. It was something he generally ignored. Nothing seemed to be good enough and he accepted that and he was also happily single so why was it bothering him. He put it down to the initial anger but when it had not subsided he knew that he needed to seek help.
A few weeks into the new year Tobias started seeing Dr Rasmussen. Over the coming months they discussed Tobias’s childhood, his dad’s extra marital affairs, his dad’s expectations, medical school, and non-work aspects of his life. As time went on he again became happy in his decisions to remain single and not settle down and get married.
He had a strong role model in Beth who never remarried and who had a happy and fulfilled life without another man. He knew career was not everything but he also knew settling down for the sake of doing so was also not healthy or a reason to do so and he was more than happy with that.
——-
Authors note 2: A little history. Tobias walked in on his dad having sex in his home office with someone who was not his mother. He was 9. Bethany divorced him. He married that woman and they eventually divorced. Tobias was expected to be a perfect son who would go on to study law at UPenn. Tobias had other ideas. Edward was not a faithful man, he bought a woman that was not his second wife to graduation, and had a different woman it seemed whenever he saw him. He has one half sibling he is aware of that is older than Tobias, from a relationship before Beth. Tobias would not be surprised if there were others.

Hi! Could I request a fic where reader is an actress in a play/movie that's kinda like a star vehicle for Elvis but she's starring opposite him. I remember reading that he wanted to do serious stuff, like not just singing and dancing. And also, could reader be very innocent and nervous about doing scenes and stuff with such a famous guy like E.P.? Maybe there's a kissing or a love scene and she gets nervous to do it for real? Could be fluffy or smutty, whichever way works best! <3

“Does my hair look alright, Doris?” you ask, glancing over at your stylist with worried eyes.
You’re standing in front of the mirror in your trailer, preparing to film your very first scene on the set of a new movie. While you’re already nervous after critics have expressed a lot of excitement for the movie, some predicting it to be the best film of the year, you’re even more nervous to meet your co-star. When your agent explained to you that you’d be starring opposite Elvis Presley, the famous musician and actor, your heart had stopped.
“Yes, of course, it does, Y/N. You look wonderful,” Doris responds with a smile as she brings your coat over.
You sigh as you slide your arms back into it. You know you shouldn’t be worried or nervous. You’re clearly just as talented and capable of an actor as Elvis since you’re co-starring in the same movie. And you happen to be one of the hottest names in Hollywood in general, with hundreds of fans throwing themselves at you on the daily. Glancing at yourself in costume in the mirror, you heave a deep breath and smile at Doris through the reflection.
“Don’t worry, dear,” she says, rubbing your arm comfortingly. “You’ll be perfect. You always are.”
You lean affectionately against her arm and thank her. She opens the door for you and you make your way across the street toward the studio. The security guards open the door for you and you enter, silently repeating your lines to yourself in your head. You approach the director, Paul, and paste on your most charming smile. As you come closer, you realize that Paul is already discussing the scene with someone, although you can’t tell who since their back is turned to you.
“Y/N, darling! We’re just discussing the scene,” Paul says when his eyes lock onto you.
He gestures for you to come forward so you step up to the conversation and your breath catches in your throat when the mystery man turns around. Of course, it’s none other than Elvis standing before you. He offers you a charming smile which you return happily.
"Y/N, this is-"
"Elvis Presley," you interrupt Paul. "It's truly an honor to meet you Mr. Presley. I'm quite a fan."
"I'm a pretty big fan of yours, too, Miss Y/L/N."
He thrusts his hand forward and you take it and give it a firm shake. Paul continues talking, gesturing toward the set behind you. It's a scene halfway through the movie which takes place by a romantic Italian fountain in Milan. It also so happens to be the first kiss scene that occurs in the film. As you step up onto the set, you gulp and try not to shake as you reach up to take Elvis' outstretched hand. You feel heat creeping into your face as Elvis smiles and helps you up the steps.
"I think if we have you begin over here, Y/N, it will be more natural for you to look Roger in the eyes, yes?"
"Like this?" you ask.
You stand to follow Paul's direction toward the fountain and turn with your knees resting elegantly against the side of the marble structure. You stare off into the distance where Elvis' character, Roger, is marked to stand.
"Yes, that's delightful. And Elvis if you'd begin over here," Paul suggests and Elvis follows his direction. "Wonderful, wonderful! Let me make sure the cameras are ready to roll and we'll start filming."
Paul runs off toward the cameras as a few lingering set assistants swoop in to fix some details. You chuckle as you make eye contact with Elvis from across the set and he winks. A few moments later, Paul's voice rings out again.
"Alright kids let's begin from 'what are your dreams, Roger?' And...action!"
"What are your dreams, Roger?" you start.
Elvis recites his monologue, much longer than most of your lines in this scene. When you originally read the script, you were upset by the idea that you had so few lines, but now as you sit shuddering silently with anxiety, you're actually quite glad. You don't think you could handle more than a few lines. You watch as Elvis dances around the set, interacting with the props exactly as scripted. You find yourself genuinely impressed by his skills. He continues through the monologue until he sits next to you on the fountain. He takes your hands in his and stares into your eyes. Suddenly, your mind goes blank and you realize that you've forgotten what you're supposed to say.
"What about you, Maggie, what are your dreams?"
"I dream of a day filled with sun, sand between my toes, and...er..."
"Cut! Okay, Y/N, honey let's try it again, please. Remember the line is 'I dream of a day filled with sun, sand between my toes, and my body in your arms.' Let's go again please. Reset and...action!"
You shake yourself back to focus, repeating the line again and again in your head. Before you know it, Elvis is sitting by you on the fountain.
"What about you, Maggie, what are your dreams?"
But when it comes time again for you to recite your response, your heart begins to thud in your chest. Your brain jumps forward to the scene you know will follow in which you have to kiss Elvis Presley. Passionately. And nerves quickly take over.
"I dream of a day filled with sun, sand between my toes, and my body...in your...arms, in your arms. I'm sorry," you say, dropping your head into your hands.
Although Paul remains calm, you can tell that he's growing irritated. Elvis touches your hand gently and nods encouragingly.
"You'll get it, darlin. I know you will," he says with a wink.
Your heart beats quickly in your chest snd the frog in your throat keeps you from saying anything. So instead, you just nod. Elvis returns to the start of the scene and you take a deep breath. Paul yells action and you start the scene once more. You're doing wonderfully and you finally get down your line, but as Elvis' fingers intertwine into yours to the soundtrack of his deep southern drawl and beautiful sea blue eyes, your memory turns into mush.
"And what'll we do then, Maggie?" he asks, leaning in as his eyes flick down to your lips.
"I...we will s...we...shit," you hiss, rubbing your fingers on the bridge of your nose. "Excuse me. I'm sorry. I don't know what's wrong with me."
You can feel the heat climbing into your face and ears now. You stand up as the crew begins to reset and walk back into the corner, closing yourself off from the rest of the staff as much as possible. You scold yourself in whispers.
Since your eyes are closed, you jump at the sound of Elvis' voice beside you.
"Y/N, y'aright honey?" he asks.
You turn with your best fake smile and nod.
"Yes, I'm fine. Just...frustrated, that's all. I promise that I'm more professional than this. For some reason I just can't..."
"You'll get it. I know you will. I've seen you act on the screen and watchin you is like magic."
You lift your gaze to his as the hint of a smile tugs at the corners of your mouth.
"Thank you. But it does no good if I can't even remember my lines on day one of filming. I'm better than this, I know I am. I just need to-"
"Hey," your breath hitches in your throat as Elvis takes ahold of your fingers. His warm, calloused fingers soothingly circle over your knuckles. "You just need to relax, baby. Listen, I ain't never acted opposite someone so beautiful and talented before. I can't wait to see what you can do. Just relax and take it slow, like we're havin a real conversation. Yeah?"
You nod and smile. He gently pinches your chin between his thumb and forefinger
"Atta girl."
You close your eyes and heave a few deep breaths before returning to your mark to prepare for the scene. Paul raises his eyebrows and you nod back with a determined expression. Paul's worked with you several times before and you know that he's aware of your talent. He probably realizes that you're just having an off day. Paul yells action and Elvis begins the scene. You breathe a sigh of relief as you make it through your first line without issue.
"What about you, Maggie, what are your dreams?"
"I dream of a day filled with sun, the sand between my toes, and my body in your arms."
"And what'll we do then, Maggie?" Elvis asks.
He takes your fingers gently, giving you a reassuring squeeze. You smile at him and tilt your head. His gaze is soft and sweet, his blue eyes sparkling in the romantic light of the set. His eyes flick down to your lips and yours do the same as you prepare to say your next line.
"Well, I'm not sure. What do you have in mind, Roger?"
Elvis smiles, his hand gently cupping your face. His thumb strokes your cheek and he pulls you to him. You lean forward slowly, tilting your head. Right before your lips touch, Elvis pauses and takes you in. You bite your lip and he leans forward to press his lips onto yours. You smile into the kiss, your arms winding around his shoulders to pull his body closer. His snake around your waist and he deepens the kiss. Your fingers start to tangle into his hair and he accidentally leans forward a little too far, caught up in the passion of the moment.
You yelp as you both fall sideways into the water of the fountain. Your clothes are immediately soaked and you both burst into laughter. Paul yells cut and claps.
"That was honestly wonderful! You know, I think I like this better than what we had scripted. We wanted Roger and Maggie to be a lighthearted, fun-loving couple, and I think this demonstrates that beautifully. Let's get you both cleaned off and go for another take. Great work, everyone!"
You and Elvis are still coming down from your fits of laughter. Elvis steps out first and holds his hand out for you. You accept his help and he pulls you to standing as the last few chuckles escape from your lips. Silence settles between you and you chuckle nervously.
"Thank you," you say.
"Don't mention it, darlin," he responds, waving his hand dismissively. "Sorry for gettin ya all wet."
You chuckle and shake your head.
"Oh, I don't mind. If it means I get to kiss you again, I'm all for it."
You turn to get changed into a dry costume, glancing over your shoulder to see a surprised Elvis with deep red cheeks.

THE GREATEST HITS (2024)
Starring Lucy Boynton, Justin H. Min, David Corenswet, Austin Crute, Jackson Kelly, Retta, Andie Ju, Rory Keane, Pocket Turlington, Naomi Phan, Tom Yi, Evan Shafran, Jenne Kang, Mary Eileen O'Donnell, Ren Burttet, Nelly Furtado, Phil Manzanera, Andy McKay and Bryan Ferry.
Screenplay by Ned Benson.
Directed by Ned Benson.
Distributed by Searchlight Pictures. 94 minutes. Rated PG-13.
There are few things in the world that I love more in movies than music, romance and time travel. The Greatest Hits merges all these things together, so it really should be like catnip to me.
So, why didn’t I like it more than I did? In fact, why did I find it kind of boring and not just a tiny bit maudlin?
The Greatest Hits rides on a kind of genius central concept, and then squanders it all mercilessly.
Harriet (played by Lucy Boynton, who was Freddie Mercury’s female bestie in Bohemian Rhapsody) is a music producer who is going through a severe bout of depression after the sudden accidental death of Max (David Corenswet), the love of her life.
As a woman whose life revolves around music, she finds that listening to certain songs from the past can – quite literally – transport her to the time in which she originally experienced the song. She quickly becomes addicted to this strange new skill, spending most of her time picking certain songs and going back to relive her experiences with Max.
Unfortunately, you can’t always live in the past, and her pressing urge to keep returning to years gone by starts to negatively affect her present, particularly when she meets a guy (Justin H. Min) in a grief counseling group and realizes she kind of likes him. (Apparently, she didn’t like him enough for the screenwriter to actually give his character a name – unless I missed it – despite the fact that he plays a huge role in the second half of the film.)
Still, it’s a wild idea, full of possibilities and wonder. It’s a shame that The Greatest Hits can’t live up to its greatest bits.
For one thing, Harriet is a really miserable character, who doesn’t even seem to realize the wondrous miracle of what is happening to her. Instead, the film treats this gift as a burden, as an addiction that only makes her even more miserable in the present. And, yes, I get that the film suggests that you can get lost in the past and at the same time lose your way in the present, but there must have been a better way to convey that message.
The film also does not seem to know how to portray Harriet’s relationships, both with the late ex and the new dude in her life. It turns out to be a mix of tortured longing and romcom cliches – and for a movie that trades in romantic comedy platitudes, The Greatest Hits has very little in the way of lightness or humor.
However, The Greatest Hits does get bonus points for brief cameos by former pop star Nelly Furtado and the classic rock band Roxy Music, playing a song from their recent 50th anniversary reunion tour. In fact, the movie’s use of music in general as a necessity in the fabric of life is pretty spot on.
Too bad they couldn’t get the rest of their ideas to come together nearly as well.

A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess REVIEW
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
You're not supposed to love the characters in this story. Nobody is doing the right thing, even when they believe that they are. One of the obvious examples of this is Alex's character where many times throughout the books he believes he has done no wrong, that he is smarter and better than everyone else and nobody should treat him wrongly. The doctors that give Alex the aversion therapy, the police, even the writer and his friends are all bad characters. What we get from this story is the philosophy of good and bad, the choice of free will and how that makes us human, and a glimpse of the abuse of psychological therapy of that time.
I say this book is good. I rated it 5 stars, after all. However, I found myself thinking about this book after reading for the past few days. Things stuck with me. Alex is not a good character, he's a villain and he always will be in the end after having been "cured" but reverting back to his criminal ideologies. He never learned anything. The language Nadsat would linger in my mind, how the words came almost second nature to me, though of course I do study other languages for fun so maybe the constant usage was why it stuck. And of course thinking back to the history of aversion therapy and conversion therapy and how it was all so similar to what Alex went through.
Here are my notes during reading. WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW
-Already the book starts differently than the movie, don't hate me for watching the movie before reading the book. The boys hassle a smoke shop before the homeless man, which was not included in the movie. They sweeten up some old ladies at a diner (?) as an alibi.
-"It's a stinking world because it lets the young get on to the old like you done, and there's no law nor order no more."
-"--The attempt to impose upon man, a creature of growth and capable of sweetness, to ooze juicily at the last round the bearded lips of God, to attempt to impose, I say, laws and conditions appropriate to a mechanical creation, against this I raise my sword-pen" pg 27. Foreshadowing.
-Alex is the alpha of the pack, just as he was in the movie.
-Alex is a teenager, or college age student.
-Alex's dream of Georgie being a general is also foreshadowing.
-P. R. Deltoid's warning to Alex tells us that Alex has been caught and in trouble before, enough times for him to have a post corrective advisor stop to visit him in his home. Sent there by Alex's mother.
-I think it's important to note that Alex using the same "my friend has fainted" play has it's own glimpse onto Alex's intelligence. While he does make himself appear to be high and mighty, no one is smarter than me, type character, why would he use the same play to lure people into opening their doors for him? If it's worked a few times in the past to get him what he wants, eventually people will catch the repetition and become warned of that phrase. Maybe that is why the cat lady was suspicious of the phrase from the start. She'd been warned and did the right thing but denying him entry and calling the police right away. Our Humble Narrator isn't as smart as he thinks.
-Alex is 15 at the the story takes place.
-Alex's lingo has a chokehold on my every waking moment. It haunts me how fluid it feels when I'm reading it, even though I have no idea what he's saying most of the time. I do find it interesting how the author indicates that the adults in the story speak without Alex's lingo, they speak "proper".
PART TWO
-Alex is now 17.
-It seems like in the film they completely removed the second murder Alex was convicted of, which I feel would have been important towards telling his story. In the film, they show Alex having taken responsibility and showing interested in becoming a better man. In the book, Alex is still manipulative and a bad character. He hasn't learned from his crimes. He's just annoyed that he is forced to be around people he considers to be lesser than him. He's disgusted by them. He's looking in the mirror and refuses to see his own reflection.
-Aversion therapy is what is happening here, where the patient is given an undesirable stimuli while being shown images, or in Alex's case, films, in order to treat the unwanted behavior. This was also administered as treatment for "curing" homosexuality back in the day alongside castration to cure gayness. While the practice has been looked down upon and shamed for the mental harm it causes patients who underwent this treatment, unfortunately conversion therapy and aversion therapy is still practiced today. However, there are proper non-harmful ways to use aversion therapy and is sometimes recommended by therapists. Aversion therapy is a type of behavioral therapy. It is sometimes used to help treat nail biting, alcoholism (some medications used to treat alcohol abuse trigger a sick feeling response when alcohol is consumed), and smoking.
-The "vitamin" injection was the undesirable stimuli, making Alex feel weak and the showing of the criminal activities on film made Alex condition criminal activity with feeling sick. Which is why later on when Alex is kicked around and shown breasts, he becomes sick. This is similar to the alcoholism aversion therapy medication which makes the patient nauseous when they consume alcohol. The author writing about this therapy did a great job at expressing the thoughts and actions and makes me wonder if he did this on purpose or if it was accidental.
-Alex is quickly beginning to realize the horrors he had committed. While it was fun and games for him before, now having the undesirable stimuli to punish his behavior is teaching him that crime is not fun and games.
-I wonder why they didn't show a scene of Alex hitting his head against the wall and showing sickness from it in the film. I feel they grazed over this part of the book, showing Alex and the films, his shouting and anger at the doctors playing his favorite music, but the read pain is in Alex's physical reactions. A duality can be found between pre-cured Alex and the correctional doctors, the violence is different but still violence. Same with the police violence towards the end.
-"Am I just to be like a clockwork orange?" page 129.
PART THREE
-Alex still feels higher than everyone else, that he's more important than everyone else.
-In the end, Alex didn't learn anything. He went right back to worshipping violence.

FANFICTION FACTS PART ONE. LOTS OF HECKIN READING AHEAD IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS SORT OF THING.
And unlike Twitter, I can write more stuff on here! :D And add more updated info, since most of this I posted in late April.
1. Current chapter count is 80 titles. It was originally 60! But some of the chapters, I had to split into separate parts either to keep the emotions high or to leave cliffhangers.
(I was originally shooting to hopefully start uploading Arc 1 later this year and all arcs at least scripted out, but with events that have happened at home, I am not sure if that will still be happening. My writing production has slowed down biiiiggg time. The drive is still there, but I am exhausted. (originally I was writing 50 pages + a week. but since I started my job again and the family matters, It’s dropped to maybe 5 at most. Not good at all.)
2. There are a total of 5 Arcs. The Arc Names are as follows and may have been too spoilery, so I removed parts or their whole names entirely BD
Time Breakers Arc --- Burnout Arc --- Lovestruck Arc --- ??? ---- ???
I have played around with the idea of other Dragon Ball stories or maybe even future arcs, (Future arc’s I have written down some ideas!) but that will all depend on if I can live writing these five lol.
3. Characters sexual orientations are not specified in the story. The only time so far in the story is when some male side characters are talking about a pretty new Patroller, but “she’s into chicks so out of their league” but Tufu being a dumb, still tries for that anyway and says to her, “he also loves women.”  And when Kota is asked what kind of girl he likes in an interview, he responds “Why does it matter what sex they are? As long as they got a good heart-besides I am not really looking to date.“ I do have head canons for the characters, (some canon characters) but they mostly just stay in my head and most likely will not appear in the story lol.
4. Some chapters are very long. The pivotal, important chapters run at around 30 pages plus, but I have been chopping them down. The lowest page count currently is at 19.
5. This story has a PG-13 to PG-18 rating. Not all chapters are rated this and most are in the 13 range. I have tried toning down the chapters that are PG-18, (I even wrote alternate PG13 versions of the 18s) but comparing them to the 18 rated ones, it did not have the same omph factor and the characters lost their bite. Too tame. Kota’s mouth is a pain in the ---
6. For those who are not a fan of reading, I will be adapting it into comic form later on.
7. THIS STORY HAS the male lead is in a relationship with another man. So if that makes you uncomfy, this is not the story for you. (and heck, my art in general is probably not for you lol) Because somehooww, I still manage to get followers who think Kota and Fu are just bro’s and get so shooken when they see em all lovey dovey XD Like yeah, they bro’s, but they bro’s that smooch haha.
8. Kota’s character was created back in 2009. He may be older, but that’s when I started uploading his first art works to the internet. He was always written as Trunks son, and Kota had a different storyline than his current, but for a brief moment, I had a thought that he may have been Future Gohan’s kid that Trunks was raised with instead. That got thrown out really quick! Character design still looks relatively the same, mostly because I am sucker for the first designs for my older oc’s and don’t like doing drastic changes to them.

Review: Elf (2003)
Elf (2003)
Rated PG for some mild rude humor and language
Tumblr media
<Originally posted at https://kevinsreviewcatalogue.blogspot.com/2023/12/review-elf-2003.html>
Score: 3 out of 5
Elf is the kind of Christmas movie that you'd think was made in 1983 or even 1963, not 2003. It's a straightforward throwback to the Rankin/Bass Christmas specials of the '60s and '70s, with a plot largely devoid of crude humor... starring Will Ferrell at a time when he and the rest of the "Frat Pack" of gleefully lowbrow comedy stars and writers were pushing boundaries with a new breed of decidedly grown-up sex comedies. Director Jon Favreau consciously toned down the original PG-13 script into something a lot more lighthearted and family-friendly once he got on board, at times to a fault (and to Ferrell's frustration on set), but it ultimately worked out in the end to produce a film that a lot of people of my generation regard as a comedy classic and one of their favorite unironic holiday movies (i.e. not something like Die Hard or Bad Santa, the latter of which came out the same year as this). As someone who missed the film when it first came out and only saw it recently, I don't quite have the same attachment to it, but I definitely see where the affection comes from. There's barely much of a plot, but what it has is ultimately enough, the film being largely the kind of "sketch movie" that's about dropping unusual characters into funny situations and seeing how they react. I had a very nice time watching it, thanks to both Ferrell's performance as the titular elf and an old-fashioned sense of humor that's not afraid of getting cornball and doesn't try to pretend it's anything other than what it is, and while it did feel kind of insubstantial, it's still a film I'd happily recommend around the holiday season.
Our protagonist Buddy is a human who, as an infant, accidentally snuck into Santa Claus' sack when Santa visited his orphanage on the night of Christmas Eve. Growing up at the North Pole, he's always known he was different from the other elves: he's much bigger, for one, and he aged into an adult far faster. One day, he finally learns the truth about his ancestry and realizes why all the other elves made fun of him, which marks the beginning of a journey to New York City to find the birth father who abandoned him, Walter Hobbs, now an executive at a children's book publisher and, by all appearances, a right jerk who values money over his family and even the quality of his company's books.
If you've ever seen a heartwarming holiday special, then you don't need me to tell you where this movie's going from there, and this movie knows it. It devotes fairly little time to its story, instead concerning itself with its jokes and its comic routines, most of which revolve around Buddy, played by Ferrell as essentially a young boy in the body of a grown man, interacting with the modern world and causing chaos wherever he goes. He's not completely helpless, shown to be a surprisingly gifted handyman thanks to his experience in Santa's workshop (where do you think all the toys under your tree as a kid came from? Your parents? China?), but he's otherwise a less shouty, more family-friendly take on the archetypal Ferrell manchild character, with the emphasis here placed on the "child" thanks to him having been raised in a candy-cane, primary-colored version of the North Pole straight out of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (complete with a cameo by Ray Harryhausen voicing a stop-motion polar bear). And honestly, Ferrell was perfect in the role. There's a reason this kind of character has been his type as a comic actor, and that's because he brings exactly the kind of energy that a movie like this needs. There's just something inherently funny about a grown man dressed as a Christmas elf, but Ferrell doesn't just rest on the premise here, he gives it his all and always makes me smile.
The cast here is large and sprawling, and some of them get more to grab onto than others. James Caan as Walter is the closest thing a movie this wholesome has to an antagonistic force, and while his arc of realizing that there's more to life than getting ahead in the cutthroat corporate world is predictable, he otherwise sells it admirably. The first act at the North Pole is filled with memorable presences like Ed Asner as a Santa straight out of an old Coca-Cola commercial and Bob Newhart as Buddy's adoptive elf father, as well as great set design that makes for a very sharp contrast to the rest of the film spent in the Big Apple. Peter Dinklage only has one scene as a full-of-himself children's author, but the moment he steps foot on screen, you can figure out immediately what the casting directors of Game of Thrones saw in him. Unfortunately, I thought that Zooey Deschanel got short shrift as the cynical department store clerk Jovie, feeling as though a lot of her character arc was left on the cutting room floor. She gets a lot of focus in a few particular scenes and sells them very well, especially when it comes to her singing voice, but she's otherwise absent for such long stretches that I was at times surprised when the film remembered that she existed. (It was amusing, however, seeing her play the grouch who doesn't believe in Christmas and has Ferrell's manic pixie dream guy inject some excitement into her life given how she'd later be typecast. Especially since she's blonde in this film, without what would become her signature bangs.)
This was a symptom of the film's biggest fault, the manner in which the plot jumps all over the place, from Buddy's relationship with his father Walter to his romance with Jovie to Walter's problems at work and home to a sudden third-act turn into Buddy having to literally save Christmas. It's very scattershot, and while I was often amused, I wouldn't say I was particularly hooked by the film's story, threadbare as it was. At times, I wonder if Ferrell might have had a point in wanting this to be a somewhat darker movie than what we ultimately got, one that spent more time with its characters and gave them room to breathe between all the jokes. The 2000s were a time when comedies weren't afraid to slow down, and when Pixar was in its golden age of animated family comedies that nevertheless threw a lot of kids my age for a loop. I think a version of this movie that's ten to fifteen minutes longer, mostly devoted to character beats and interactions, might have left more of an impact on me.
The Bottom Line
At the end of the day, though, Elf is still a very funny movie with Will Ferrell doing what he does best, one that I don't think would've endured as it has if it hadn't been as lightweight as it is. Overall, I had a very good time watching it, and whenever I have kids, I guarantee this one's gonna be in rotation every December.

May i ask a question ? Why Killua is always ( mostly ) on bottom in fanfics, I mean I'm not complaining or anything, I just don't get it , yk ? That's why I'm asking, like , I'm so confused, how killua is more into that than Gon 😕 ... and Gon is somehow .. more fitting on topping him ?? ,like .. okay it's just a ship , but I really can't see it that way whenever i watch the canon . That's why I'm asking for clarification .
hello there!! sorry if this took a while for me to reply, i didn't realize i had any asks so i did not know this was here and idk when you sent it!
soooo i unfortunately am not equipped to talk about the general canon (fanon?) of this since i am not in the heads of all writers haha HOWEVER i can give my thoughts as to why i think this is the case! and I'm going to keep it as PG as possible by speaking more from a "taking the lead in the relationship" perspective, even if just from a physical/making the move aspect, because i personally think that i often see them going go hand in hand in what i’ve read. but LET ME CAVEAT that, again, i am not speaking for everyone, just my thoughts since you asked, and i will also caveat that the connections I'm drawing are not rules - so, when i say "i see Gon as acting this way or doing this thing, that is why i think the connection to XYZ is being made, or why he is then written into fanfics as being this ABC archetype", i am not saying it as a definite or as an expectation for how these relationships/actions/etc. would manifest themselves every time or irl!!! so please do not take it as such, relationships are very personal and not one size fits all and not like "well if you act THIS way, you will always be THIS person in the relationship". ok disclaimer over but i just want to make that v clear.
so, i personally view Gon as the more explicitly forward and outspoken one between the two of them. we all know Gon is shameless, and i think many authors (including myself) write him as such. i think it's easy to draw a connection between shameless -> speaks his mind no matter what -> doesn't worry about getting embarrassed -> shares his feelings first -> makes the first move -> makes suggestions for progression of relationship. also we know that Gon is obviously strong and loves that about himself, so if he can showcase his strength in other ways I'm sure that plays into it - like showing that he's also HEADstrong, strong in his convictions and emotions, strong in his sense of self, is STRONGly sure of their relationship... you get the point. so me personally, as i write, i will usually write Gon in ways that bring in these beliefs that I have about him by writing him as being pretty forward, extroverted and social and outgoing, maybe making the first move, etc., but i will caveat that with saying that as sure of yourself as you are, you can also get nervous or flustered or whatever, so i also include that into his character when it feels right. with that logic, i'd imagine that that is why authors would write Gon into that position (no pun intended), but i personally don't write explicit content so this is just my personal rationale.
for Killua, i think a lot of people view him as a polar opposite in a lot of ways - not excessively sure of himself (you could argue that at the end of the anime he is, but a lot of ppl I know that resonate with his character specifically resonate with the version of him that is struggling with a sense of self and purpose and consciously being beholden to, and affected by, others' expectations of him), VERY easily flustered, etc. i think it's very common that, when people talk about their relationship, they talk about killua NOT being the first to admit feelings, NOT being the first to make a move (unless he can do so in a half-jokingly, "oh you don't feel the same haha well i was OBVIOUSLY KIDDING YOU DUMBASS I JUST WANTED TO SEE YOUR FACE LOOOL" way), and NOT being the one to really, fully make himself vulnerable first. have i seen him written this way? yes. and it often makes sense when i do depending on the story itself! but I'm speaking from a more generalized, "what i see most frequently" perspective since that's the context of the question. so, given all of that, i think authors will take him "not taking the lead" and write him into also not taking the lead physically, at least not in the stereotypical sense - since, if we want to be extremely verbose and accurate, we need to acknowledge that "positions" in a sexual relationship do not always relate to "positions" in the emotional part of the relationship, or to personalities, or to anything else. sometimes they do but sometimes they don't! but if we want to guess as to why this seems to be a common theme, I'm assuming that sometimes that line can be drawn by relating these pieces of their characters/personalities to the other aspects of their relationship.
WHEW ok that was a longer answer than i expected! just want to reiterate that these are my personal thoughts as to why i think we see this "theme" often - i don't know for sure since i do not personally write this genre of explicit content, but those are just my two cents; also want to reiterate my emphasis on these not being hard and fast rules for relationships, there isn't always a correlation between how a person acts in the bedroom and outside of the bedroom, and there isn't one right answer for how these two are portrayed in any setting in any type of relationship IMO - so much of it comes down to the writing itself, how/why they are written the way that they are in a particular fic, and what we as readers take away from the fic. this is especially important since so many people have so many different preferences of writing, characterization, etc.!!!!
THANKS FOR LISTENING OK BYEEEEE
