Anyone else make the switch from GoodReads to StoryGraph?

I never used GR for the social component - strictly used it for (lazily) tracking my reading. Now that I’m getting more into reading, I decided to make the switch to StoryGraph and already I like it so much more. More options for tracking — I like that you can categorize books as “did not finish” — and it’s a much, much cleaner app experience.

Looking to queer your bookshelf in 2024? Then join us as we host a low-key, fun reading challenge!

The idea is simple: read even one queer book, and you can win this challenge! Once you’ve done that, you can explore our 39 bonus prompts, encouraging you to read queer books new and old, queer books from different genres, queer non-fiction books, and queer books about identities you are familiar with and those you’re unfamiliar with. We’ve been working on populating the list with suggestions (and would definitely love your help in fleshing them out, there’s so much great queer lit out there – I personally primarily read queer books from East Asia so those stories are rather over-represented in our suggestions right now!) and we’re really excited to see what books people read, what books people suggest, and how many queer books we, collectively, can read in 2024!

At the start of the year I started to use StoryGraph to track my reading and, to my unexpected delight, its recommendation algorithm has proven to be not-terrible. A big win today when it thought I might enjoy the queer, poly, fantasy book Hunger Pangs by @thebibliosphere. I didn't realize it recced indie books in there, and it was a delight to see Joy's book in the wild! I think it *is* time for a re-read, thank you StoryGraph.

(also, if you like my original stuff/fic and haven't given Hunger Pangs a shot, you probably should. Joyfully bisexual, engaging world building, gentle-dom moments, all with a flair that mixes Austen and Pratchett. This book doesn't fully develop the poly relationship, but the start of the negotiations are there, and y'all know how much I love a good poly negotiation)

05.03.2024—storygraph update. finished 77 books in Feb, on to March. my user is lottie1803, drop me yours and I’ll follow back. 🤍

(side note that all reading is good reading, i have hyperlexia and naturally read very fast. i average about 2 books a day. i am currently studying part time so have more time to read. i do lean towards shorter books, but read a fair amount between 300-400 pages according to my stats)

Honestly, I think more people should use StoryGraph. Simply because I'm a very nosey person and want to know all about what people are reading. Also because it gives you a very neat overview of what you have read and what type of books you tend to go for. Also, I just like the little progress bar if you track your reading. Also.
