Sometimes I think about posting the one meme which goes "I want to ____ you" and see what your muses fill it in with for my muses but knowing my muses, I can already foresee an army of "kick" "beat" and "kill" <- in that order

So Dear, would you please give me your answers~
(Prefect: PROFESSOR TREIN-)

You betrayed me. I thought you loved me. Was it all a lie? You don't deserve me. Goodbye.
(Prefect: stop being so melodramatic. Here, the answers. Don't make it obvious though, okay?)
Yandere
Riddle: If it was anyone else, who called me that,
"IT'D BE OFF WITH THEIR HEAD!"
But as it is you, I suppose I could let it slide~ You'll attend the next unbirthday party, my Rose. I've already prepared your attire. I can't wait to see you there~
Trey:
Well Prefect, I thought I was the one with the bad jokes in this relationship, haha.
Did you learn that from Cater, love?
Sometimes I feel like you spend more time with him than you do with me...
...Uh, never mind.
Love? I didn't call you love, what do you mean?Hey, I baked your favorites. Here, have a bite. Yes, I know you have somewhere to go, But one bite wouldn't hurt, right?
Don't worry, you're gonna LOVE it~
Cay-Cay, your bae-bae:
Hi QT pie!
Hey babe, you accidentally tagged Deuce-chan instead of me in your post. Y'know, the "Best Boi" one. Don't worry, I forgive you. Everyone makes mistakes. But be careful next time, ok. Oh, you seem agitated. You ok? Someone just txted you a threatening message?! They're gonna spill the tea to the Octotrio?! OMG! Don't worry, Cay-Cay can solve this mess. You can trust me~
Ace:
Oh, Hey, Prefect!
You're late. Almost thought you wouldn't show. But I knew you wouldn't throw away an opportunity to spend time with your favorite person.
(Prefect: Deuce ain't here, though?)
I meant me.
That wasn't funny, Prefect.
(Prefect: sorry)
Well, you should be. You hurt my feelings!
Don't worry, I forgive you.
I, the oh-so-gracious Trappola, forgive your sin~
(Prefect: *eye rolls and smirks*)
See, you're smiling again! It suits you way more than that worried face before.
I love it.
Hehe, I didn't say anything. You're just imagining things, Prefect! What did you thought I said? Aww, you won't tell me?I thought we were close~
Hey, why do you look so worried?
(Prefect: It's been 5 minutes, but Deuce still hasn't arrived)
Deuce? Oh, don't worry about him. He's probably of to do extra work for one of the teachers. Y'know, honor student and all that.
Let's just enjoy our time together. It's way more fun with just the two of us anyway~
(Prefect: And Grim!)
Yeah, and Grim...
And you have reached the end of this post!
What? Were you waiting for someone else?
Deuce? Who's Deuce? You must be hallucinating. There's no one named like that here.
He doesn't matter anyways...
Daily Bible verse of the day(yes, I'll be doing this from now on):
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes:
first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

"Huh? What're you still doing here?"
At the sound of your friend's voice, you turn around and nearly trip. Petra thankfully catches hold of you before your heel can collapse onto itself and injure you. You look at her sheepishly.
"Thanks. And what do you mean?"
"Aren't you supposed to be on your way home now?"
Checking the time on your phone, your expression drops. 3:02 PM.
"I should be."
When Erwin first gave you that thick stack of paperwork on Monday, you thought nothing of it. You stayed an hour later than usual, and Armin dropped you off after you and them all went to dinner together. You figured staying later just meant too much of your afternoon was consumed with Levi and Erwin's abrupt stay in your office.
Then, the same thing happened on Tuesday, only without Levi: Erwin greeted you, handed you your papers, and checked in periodically. You ended up taking the bus an hour later than you usually did.
Then, it happened on Wednesday. That day, the bus stopped running after 8 so you had to get a ride from Petra.
Then, on Thursday, you had to take the bus two hours later than usual, just barely making it onto the last one of the day.
Then, today, you just finished dropping off some papers for one of your coworkers down the hall; normally on Friday, you're out of the building by 2:55 PM to make it to the bus stop with a few minutes to spare.
On Wednesday, somewhere in between all the chaos at work, Hange texted you telling asking you to come over to their apartment on Friday around 5.
For what reason? You had no idea, but anything they had planned surely would've done the trick in helping you unwind after the long week you've had. You'd already been avoiding them over the course of the week to save them the trouble of worrying about how late you've been working, so you'd probably have to deal with some questioning, but that's nothing out of the ordinary for you and Hange.
Petra smiles at you gently, giving you a firm squeeze on your shoulder. "Get home safe, yeah? You've had a rough week."
"I will. Thanks."
You nod at her, returning her smile and then going back to your office to get ready to leave. When the door behind you closes, however, you let that smile drop. Mikasa's on another floor right now, so you're alone while you pack up your briefcase. You check to make sure you don't leave anything important in your office before you're off, and, just like that, you're standing quietly in the elevator waiting for it to reach the lobby. Once you're there, you say a quick farewell to the receptionist before you exit the building and start heading over to the bus station.
Even though it's Friday, you can't help feeling down. Just last week, you were swinging your arms as you walked and spent your week waiting for Friday to catch just a glimpse of that stranger from the bus. Even if you did feel such extreme misplaced excitement/anguish, it was something you looked forward to every week. At least you'll be able to relax a bit during the ride back to your place.
Checking your phone, you frown again. 3:15 PM. The bus you normally take (and the one Levi's on) usually arrives at 3:02, give or take a minute, so you guess you'll just have to take the next one. Looking at the street, you see that traffic's gotten pretty bad, with the noise of cars starting and stopping filling your ears. If your usual bus already came and went, this next one would take forever to arrive.
Before you can check the timesheet to see when the next bus is coming, though, you hear the familiar sound of screeching tires and doors opening. You hurriedly put your phone into your pocket and get your bus fare card from your wallet before stepping on. You say a quick "thank you" to the bus driver after your fare is verified, and turn to look for a seat.
Well, that's a bit awkward.
The entire cart is filled with who you assume are college students, some of whom are already standing and holding onto the upper handles, and you can't see any open seats from where you're standing.
So much for relaxing during the ride.
Sighing, you step a bit further in and out of the center walkway to grab hold onto one of the handles, but before you can do that, you hear your name called out from the back of the bus. You ignore it the first time, thinking it's someone saying something else, but when you hear it the second time, you crane your neck to where the voice is coming from.
Just barely, you can see Levi motioning for you to come towards him. You let a small smile find its way onto your face and rush past the other people on the cart to get to him, apologizing as you pass them. You see him take his backpack from off the seat next to him and put it onto his lap, and he looks at you expectantly.
"Did you save a seat for me?" You ask, pointing at the space next to him. He nods.
If you weren't so exhausted from work, you surely would've burst into flames.
For now, though, you can just tiredly smile in response. Before you can sit, however, the bus starts moving again, and you're taken off balance. "Woah!"
Thankfully, you already had your back turned towards the seat so you didn't bump into anyone, but you stiffen up to brace for the impact of abruptly sitting. You expect to feel a hit to your head when it's meant to inevitably hit the glass behind you, but you're surprised to feel Levi's hand instead.
At the contact, your ears start to heat up. You say your thanks, subconsciously tucking a strand of hair behind your ear before putting your briefcase onto your lap. He takes his hand away from the window just as quickly, only nodding in response to your gratitude, and you fish your phone out of your pocket to make yourself busy, too shy to look at him next to you.
Your shoulders are forced to touch, given the fact that there's definitely way too many people on the bus in the first place, and even with your lack of energy, you can feel the heat coming off of his body. The bus stops more frequently than normal, probably due to traffic, so you end up getting pushed closer every time that happens.
You try your best to ignore it, but the red on your face comes back like it does every time. You get a text from Hange before you can dwell on that, so you silently thank them before clicking on the notification.
Hange - 3:21 PM
Heyyy still coming?
You - 3:21 PM
you didn't really give me a choice but yes
Hange 3:22 PM
Awesome!!!! Can you pick up something from the store on Rose? I forgot to get eggs and butter
You - 3:22 PM
i can just bring some from my place but sure
Hange 3:22 PM
Nope, no need for your fancy ingredients I do need a lot of eggs tho!! Get the 60 pack
You - 3:23 PM
what do you need 60 eggs for?
Hange 3:25 PM
You will find out in time Bring Levi with you to the store too ;)
You look over at the man next to you, wondering if you should bring him along with you; if you remember correctly, the store Hange's talking about is at the same stop Levi gets off at. He seems pretty concentrated on whatever he's doing on his phone, but if Hange said to bring him with you, maybe he's coming over to their place too? He apparently senses your eyes on him because he looks back at you, a neutral expression on his face.
You choose to not say anything to save yourself the embarrassment of stumbling over your words and instead look down and move your phone towards him so he can see what Hange just messaged you.
You're grateful that he gets the cue right away and reads the texts on your phone, and you can just barely hear him hum over the noises of other passengers talking amongst themselves. You see his hand stretched out slightly, almost as if to grab onto your phone, so you hand it to him thinking he's going to get a closer look at the screen. You don't want to look as he does, scared of his reaction if he thinks anything serious about the winky face Hange sent you, but he hands the device to you after a few moments and looks back at his own.
You see that he's opened up a new contact for himself, with what you assume to be his number at the top of the screen. The realization that, yes, the most handsome man you've ever laid eyes on gave you his number, makes your brain short circuit for a second before you realize that he's probably wanting you to text him.
Calm down, he probably only gave it to you out of convenience. You quickly add him as "Levi" and shoot him a message, trying to swat away any bubbling thoughts about him.
You - 3:28 PM
hi
You see him start to type from the corner of your eye.
Levi - 3:28 PM
Hello I don't think I'd be able to hear you over the people around us
You - 3:28 PM
me neither
Your heart relaxes a bit, now with the knowledge that he really did only give you his number to avoid having to talk over everyone else.
You - 3:29 PM
do you know why there's so many people on the bus today? it's normally never this crowded
Levi - 3:27 PM
There's a concert across town Did you want me to come with you to the store?
You lean back a bit into your seat, the hand keeping your briefcase in your lap holding on just a bit tighter. You take a look over at him before answering.
You - 3:28 PM
you don't have to
Levi - 3:28 PM
I have to go to Hange's too, so might as well
You - 3:29 PM
i wouldn't mind the company then
When the three dots don't appear after you hit send, you figure that conversation's over.
You try your best to not make too much contact with Levi, but the bus has remained as turbulent as it did when you first got on, so that's not really possible. You decide that leaning forward and resting on your arms atop your briefcase is the best thing you can do to both hide your face and get some much-needed rest. It also helps that now, your shoulders aren't touching Levi's anymore.
After some amount of time, your breathing evens itself out, your face cools, and you're able to relax yourself a bit. Your shoulders loosen up, no longer as tense from anxiety over work. The bus stops periodically with more and more people getting on, until eventually practically all of them get off at the final stop in the downtown area. The person on your other side has gotten up to leave, too, so you stretch your arms above your head and yawn, thankful for the space.
Even though the seat next to you is empty, though, you can't really bring yourself to move away further from Levi. If you need to, you can deal with the nervousness and jitters after your day is over and you're alone in your apartment to scream to your heart's content.
Now that the bus has made it out of downtown, it's been moving much more quickly on its route. There's no longer as many other people on the bus, so you can see the scenery from the window across from you much more clearly. You usually sat at the other side, opposite of where you and Levi are currently, so you've never been able to really see what the terrain on that side of the road looks like. It's not all that different, really. It's the same buildings, more or less, the same highway, the same turns, but you still feel a bit lost staring at everything.
You hear Levi start to shuffle around, getting ready to stand, so you do the same and prepare to get off. The two of you exit, with you saying "thank you" to the driver before you're out the door, and you're off to go and have a fun little grocery store adventure. Or, more likely, you'd be walking around together silently, but that's fun in its own right.
"Just the butter and eggs, right?" He asks, looking over at you. You nod, and he starts guiding you in the direction of the grocery store. Even though you feel like you're walking pretty sluggishly, he doesn't make any issue of it and matches your pace.
You end up in front of the store relatively quickly, it not being too far from the bus stop at all. You wait by the automatic doors as Levi goes over to get a cart, which you're confused about until you see him put his backpack in it to avoid carrying it around. You sheepishly sneak your briefcase in too once he's close enough, grateful that he thought to take a cart.
You don't really get the chance to come here often, so you don't quite have a good grasp of where everything is, but thankfully Levi seems to and zooms by quickly to get what Hange needs. Neither of you make any effort to talk, but you do feel a bit awkward with the silence. When the two of you reach the self-checkout area, you decide to try and fill it.
"Do you know what Hange has planned for us at their place?" You ask. He glances over at you and shakes his head.
"Not really, they just said it'd be us and Erwin. Moblit and Mike are busy."
You nod awkwardly, not really sure how to keep any conversation going. The mention of Erwin being there unnerves you slightly. You've been fighting off the urge to ask him why you've been getting so much more work than usual, and being so tired at work made it significantly easier than it would otherwise. You know you won't bring anything up at Hange's, but you can't help but feel a tiny bit of betrayal that someone you're apparently closer with now has been consistently dumping you with excessive work.
You hand Levi the eggs and the box of butter, which he scans both of. You go to your pocket to get your wallet, but as you're taking out your card to pay, you look over to see Levi doing the same. Before he can say anything, you speak up.
"Hange asked me to get it, so I'm paying."
He hesitates at that but puts his wallet away. "Fair enough."
You tap your card, press a few buttons to verify your payment, and grab your receipt once that's all sorted out. You figure you can just carry the eggs and butter on you, so you put them back into the cart before wheeling out with Levi next to you.
"Do you know when the next bus comes?' You ask.
"I park here in the mornings before taking the bus, so you can come with me," he replies. "Let me take the cart."
"How do I know you aren't going to kidnap me?"
He looks over at you, completely deadpan. "And what am I going to do? Force you to draft a prenup for me?"
You laugh at that, looking away in embarrassment. "Yeah, sure."
You let go of the handle, letting him guide it now, and he directs you both to a sleek black car parked in front of a floral shop adjacent to the grocery store: Magnolia Floral Company. Your eyes linger a bit at the small shop—it's quite cute, with very classic windows and flowers decorating the front display shelves. Ironically, none of them seem to be magnolias. Checking your time, you see that it's 4:19 PM. Surely, there's enough time before you have to meet at Hange's, and it couldn't hurt to take a small peek before leaving.
"Could I take a look inside?" You ask, pointing over to the shop.
You can hear him reach into his pocket for his keys, the beep from unlocking his car, and you see him open the trunk to put away the eggs and butter. He puts his backpack in too, and hands you your briefcase before starting to head towards somewhere he can return the cart.
"Sure."
You smile over at him before quickly making your way inside the small shop, hearing a small jingle from the bell attached to the door.
"Hi! Welcome!" A girl from behind the counter near the back of the store greets you. She looks a decent bit younger than you—maybe 21, 22—but she seems to be the only one working. She's quite cute, with pigtails and what looks like overalls on. She reminds you a bit of your younger brother. You smile and wave at her in return.
"Hello."
"Let me know if you need anything!" She beams, grinning at you.
"I will, thank you." You nod at her, then turning to look around. You don't really know that much about flowers, aside from the basics like roses and such, but they're still nice to look at every now and again. Walking around, you see that all the floral arrangements look very well-thought-out, with the colors matching and the shapes in them contrasting just the right amount. You crouch down every so often to take a closer look at the ones in colors you especially liked, and everything is just so pretty you can't help but smile a bit. The smell is a bit overwhelming, but that's to be expected with so many different flowers in one place.
You hear another jingle from the bell at the door, and you see Levi come in. Before you can signal him to where you are, though, the girl from the counter speaks up.
"Hey, Levi!" She greets, frantically waving her arms at him. He stays at the front of the shop, but nods in her direction. He finds you quickly enough, tilting his head towards the door.
"Ready to leave?" He asks.
You nod, scurrying over to where he is before smiling and waving "goodbye" to the girl at the counter.
"It was nice meeting you! Come again soon!" She shouts after you.
You and Levi wordlessly get into his car, and you put on your seatbelt before resting your briefcase on your lap.
"Who was that, if you don't mind me asking?"
He starts the car and puts his arm on the back of your seat, reversing out of the parking space. "Isabel's a childhood friend of mine."
You hum in acknowledgement and take the receipt out of your pocket to fiddle with. "She's nice. Maybe I'll come back to get something for my intern's birthday next month."
You spend the rest of the ride in silence, but by the time you reach Hange's apartment, you've made 3 stars from the receipt. You hold them out to Levi, whose hand is on the gear change, and he takes them, silently reaching over you to put them in his glovebox.
You carry the butter and your briefcase while Levi carries the eggs, and you both bump into Hange at the front of their apartment unit.
"Fancy seeing you here!" They jest.
Levi groans. "Can it, Four Eyes."
Laughing, they thrust their keys into your hand. Well, more like their keys were looped on their pinky finger while they carried a huge box, and they awkwardly shimmied their upper body to bring attention to their keys. "Please! My arms are killing me!" They beg. You laugh at them, teasingly "missing" the keyhole to prolong their suffering. You do eventually open the door, and Hange breathes a huge sigh of relief once they're inside and can put the box down next to the door. "Thank you!"
"So, what exactly did you need all these eggs for?" You ask Hange, holding open the door for Levi to come in with his arms full.
"Just wait!" They say, taking the butter and eggs from you and Levi to put on their counter. "Erwin is on his way!"
Almost as if on cue, Erwin walks straight in, your arm still keeping the door open. "I heard my name?" He nods in thanks to you, and you give him a tight-lipped smile in return.
Not now. Maybe on Monday, you can ask him.
Hange claps their hands together. "Perfect! Now we're all here!"
They motion you all over to the kitchen area, where they start setting up a bunch of miscellaneous ingredients. Flour, salt, baking soda—any general baking item you could think of was now on their counter.
"Are you finally going to tell us why the fuck you needed us to buy 60 eggs?" Levi quips. They shush him, continuing to put random bowls and such out, before standing in a power pose in front of you.
"Well, since Astraea's offered to teach me to make random desserts before, I thought I'd return the favor! And I think you've all ordered egg tarts before at some point or another, so I'm gonna teach all of you how to make them!" They declare. "Also, I have a company potluck to attend tomorrow, and I thought it'd be fun for us to make these all together!"
You, Erwin, and Levi all look at one another, then at Hange.
"Do you know how to make an egg tart yourself, Hange?" Erwin asks.
"Nope!"
"Do tell, Four Eyes, how we're supposed to learn from you then?"
"I watched a YouTube video at work on Tuesday! I'm sure I got this figured out!"
Hange very much did not have it figured out.
You, Levi, and Erwin followed along as well as you could with Hange, who very much does not know what they're doing. You're earnestly surprised that any of you three agreed to go through with this, but the need to distract from work is stronger than any sort of embarrassment you could possibly feel from messing this up. That and the fact you already knew how to make egg tarts, so you only followed along when they gave a correct instruction. After about an hour of intense bickering between Hange and any one of the rest of you three, you decided to gently push for Hange to let you teach the steps instead. They surprisingly didn't put up any fight and happily took a seat next to Erwin.
You tried your best to pick up off where Hange left off in their... for lack of a better word, "teaching," and the tarts didn't end up all that bad. You got them into the oven and baked well enough, and even though they were mostly misshapen because Erwin, Hange, and Levi aren't all that experienced in baking, they end up being fine to eat. Levi forced Erwin and Hange to clean the kitchen, save for the small area you needed to keep making tarts to have enough for Hange to actually take with them to their party.
Erwin insists that he doesn't need any to take home, but Hange still shoves a decently large tupperware container into his hands and pushes him out the door before he can refuse the gesture.
"Take some for Furlan and Isabel! I'm out of tupperware, so Astraea can wrap them up for you!" Hange says, now pushing you and Levi out the door, him holding a tray of tarts you and him made and you holding your briefcase.
You and Levi both look at each other before you start walking towards your apartment, Levi then following behind you. You reach into your pocket to get your keys and unlock your door. You step in and take off your shoes, and Levi does the same, closing the door behind him. You walk over to your general kitchen space, pulling out a chair at the dining table for Levi to sit at while he waits for you to wrap up his tarts.
"Sorry I was a bit quiet earlier," you say, reaching for the cellophane and tags from one of your drawers. "It was probably awkward."
He hums. "It's okay. Figured you had a rough week."
"What made you think that?" You start digging through another drawer to find some star tags.
"Erwin complained about some management issue at your firm on Monday during lunch."
God, you hope that it's just a one-off mistake, because you cannot keep doing this.
You move the tray over to where your wrapping things are, and you wrap Levi's half without the star tags and your own with them. You neatly place them all into a plastic bag, and afterwards go over to Levi to give them to him.
"Here you are."
Looking between you and the tarts, he hesitates. "Aren't these the ones you made too?"
You bring your hand up to nervously rub the back of your neck, looking away from him. "If they're for your friends, might as well gift them the nice ones too," you start. Realizing your mistake, your ears heat up in embarrassment. "Not that yours weren't nice!"
You aren't looking at him, but if you were to guess, his mouth is in a sort of half-smile as he lets out what you assume to be a laugh.
"Thank you."
Just like on Monday, the two of you don't bother saying "goodbye" to each other, only exchanging nods as you open the door for him to go. Before he's completely out the door, though, you tap his shoulder to get his attention.
"Yeah?"
You can't really bring yourself to look at him, so instead you keep your eyes on your hand that's keeping the door open.
"Thanks for saving me a seat today. On the bus, I mean. I probably would've lost it if I had to stand."
He clears his throat before replying. "Don't worry about it."
"Good morning!" Isabel greets, waving at him from the dining table her and Furlan are already seated at. Before he sits, Levi grabs a plastic bag from the fridge and takes two of the many bagged-up egg tarts out from it to place on the table. The ones there are tied up with an iridescent twist tie looped through a small star tag.
"Good morning," he grumbles.
"These are so cute! Where'd you get them?" Isabel asks, eyes sparkling as she looks at the treat in front of her. Levi doesn't answer her question, instead going over to the kettle to start brewing a pot of dandelion root tea.
"Doesn't matter. Just try them."
Isabel and Furlan look to each other, but shrug and open up the cellophane. Furlan's the first to take a bite, but once he does, his eyes light up. He hums into the treat, melting into his seat. Isabel does too and has near the same reaction.
"Levi! Where'd you get this? It's so good," says Furlan, dreamily closing his eyes. Isabel gets up from the table to the fridge to get another one, but Levi swats her away.
"You eat too much sugar. I'm only giving you one," he says. She groans, dragging her hands down on her face.
"Why do you have so many of them then?!"
He rolls his eyes before replying. "Don't worry about it."

UK Politics Rundown: BoJo's Bizarre Exit Edition
Ok, so, people keep asking me to explain what's going on in the UK right now, mostly because they're seeing Brits just revelling in the levels of fuckery going on. So, a brief bullet pointed run down:
Most of you have probably heard of the Sentient Mop that is Boris Johnson, former Prime Minister of the UK
Most of you probably know about his penchant for lying to the public and basically not giving a fuck about it
This culminated in a huge police investigation into literal parties this man held while we were in Covid lockdown. Including one the night before Prince Phillip's funeral at which the Queen sat alone. And if you know how the press reacted to that one, you know he was in the shit for it.
Anyway, he lied about many of those parties, got fined for attending those parties, and is still technically under Parliamentary investigation for lying to Parliament while stood on the floor of the House of Commons (the room where they yell about laws every day).
There was also a Vote of No Confidence, which is a way in which the Conservatives can remove the leader of their party if they think he's terrible. Boris won this, but by a smaller margin than he would have wanted. No new vote can be held for another year based on the current rules (more on this later)
Fast forward 2 weeks from the end of that to last week and we get some news about an MP (Chris Pincher) who initially seemed to have got drunk and done *something* (as yet it was undefined) and he was suspended from the Conservative party pending investigation.
The following day (Thursday) it emerged that it was because he had allegedly sexually assaulted two men while drunk at a Conservatives club, and that there had been reports of this behaviour before. So he had the whip (basically the ability to vote as a Conservative MP) removed.
On Friday tons of Conservatives did the rounds on the news with 'oh we didn't know he was Bad. Boris definitely didn't know or he wouldn't have appointed him to his position'
On Saturday Boris does an interview where the reporter challenges him and says 'you were told about this in December 2019), Boris then admits to knowing about it but says he 'forgot'.
People are piiiiiiiiiiiised
Fast forward to Tuesday this week (5th July 2022). Late Tuesday, two Cabinet Ministers (think of like the Secretary of State/Housing etc in the US, it's roughly equivalent) Rishi Sunak (Chancellor of the Exchequer) and Sajid Javid (Health Secretary) resign, citing Boris lying to them about many things but this being the final straw.
I mean sure lads, everything else was terrible but this is what did it huh?
Don't worry about it. Their resignations were designed to do exactly what's happened so it was a calculated move.
This kicks off what you've seen in the last 48hrs, with Cabinet Ministers, Senior Ministers, and Junior Ministers all resigning. At one point it was 6 resignations an hour.
The previous record for most ministers in a 24hr period resigning was 11 in 1932. Boris did 53.
Current total of resignations is 59. He fired Michael Gove (who's been hired and fired by the last 3 Prime Ministers, so congrats on that achievement Michael!) So it's basically at 60.
There are not enough ministers in jobs currently to run most departments
Press didn't know what to do with themselves and everyone in the UK was on Facebook marking themselves as 'attending' Boris' leaving party, and generally just having a great time with governmental collapse
Yesterday Boris refused to go. You may have seen footage of the entire House of Commons telling him goodbye very sarcastically. This is the normal levels of shithousery in the House of Commons, but it's also very funny.
Boris was still refusing to go late last night, saying he had a mandate from the people. You got this in 2019, love, it doesn't count anymore.
Literally everyone was writing letters and going on TV telling him to go, including people who'd got new jobs from him 24hrs before
Anyway, between 6:45am and 8am another 10 people resigned, which is how we got to 60 after yesterday's bonanza, and by 9:15am Boris said he would resign as PM and Tory Party leader
He is literally blaming everyone but himself at this point but no one is listening to him anymore
This has triggered a Leadership election, where untold horrors await us because that person will be the new Prime Minister....until they're forced to call a General Election
However, Boris still remains as Prime Minister for now. He said he'd stay until there was a new leader elected. So he's down, but he's not yet out.
But the fun doesn't stop yet! The 1922 Committee (the backbenches of the Tory Party in Parliament) has elections for positions on Monday and they might (and probably will) elect people who want to change the rules so that another Vote of No Confidence can be held. If that happens, the rules can be changed in less than 24hrs and they'll hold another vote to oust him before a new leader is elected. Personally, I hope Theresa May wears another ballgown to this vote after she did to the last one. Boris was the one who ousted her to become leader, so she's revelling in shithousery and it's fun to see Tory on Tory violence.
Highlights of all of this include: Reporters interrupting each other to say someone else just resigned, the people heckling Boris from the gates of Downing Street, the one guy who resigned while in a Parliamentary Committee meeting with Boris that was to discuss all the lies Boris has been telling (and informed him during this meeting. He's a Tory but the balls on that man jeez), Hugh Grant (yes, film star Hugh Grant) paying a bloke to go play the Benny Hill theme tune on Live speakers around Parliament, reporters interviewing Larry the Cat who is literally a cat and responsible for keeping the mice at bay, and every single person in the UK making memes/jokes/videos and just generally having a fantastic time as the government implodes.
Will a new leader change anything? No

In This World of My Own | Chapter One: Something Normal For Once
(Steve Harrington x Fem!Reader)
Tumblr media
Takes place in the fall of 1985, 3 months after the mall fire at Starcourt, reader is graduating high school as it’s her last year.
*Reader is afab and goes by she/her pronouns*
A/N: This is my first time writing a fic on tumblr so I’m a little new to it, and this is also my first time writing a Stranger Things fic :P
Warnings: None that I know of (unless you count my crappy writing), let me know if you think there’s any :) FLUFF! Robin being a good wingman for Steve. Slow burn??
Word count: don’t know, don’t care
~~~
October, 1985
Fall was the superior season, and what better place to enjoy it than in the small town known as Hawkins? Sure, it wasn’t perfect (nothing really is to be honest), and it had this eeriness to it, but it wasn’t that bad.
If anything, the beauty of fall made up for any lingering spookiness that might have lurked in the shadows, but it was fine! You’ve heard rumours and conspiracy theories of aliens and other things when you moved to Hawkins back in February, but you thought those rumours were silly.
You didn’t really pay any mind to it, simply because you thought it might be some sort of silly hoax or whatnot. Maybe, just maybe it could be possible, but at the same time time, who knows! For now though, it was your time to enjoy the lovely autumn environment that currently surrounded you.
It was a cloudy Thursday afternoon in October, and as soon as school finished at 3 o’clock, you gathered your things and booked it out of there as you mounted on your bike. You weren’t exactly in a hurry given that your shift at the local coffee shop wasn’t for another thirty minutes and it wasn’t too far, but you figured you could get there early anyways because why not. You had nothing better to do, you were pretty much caught up on everything.
On your way there, you took in the beauty of your environment and silently thanked Mother Nature for it as you cruised by yourself along the road, all while the jaunty tune of “Pink Shoelaces” played on your Walkman, making you feel at peace.
~~~
Once you arrived and got everything quickly tidied up, the first customer of your shift walked in.
“Hullo there Morrie!” you greeted. “What can I get for you?” Morrie was an elderly man and your neighbour. He and his wife were the first people to welcome you and your family to your new neighbourhood when you first arrived. Him and his wife stopped by to bring you some freshly baked cookies as a welcoming gift and since then, you all became familiar with each other. You occasionally stopped by their house to help them out with things when you weren’t so busy.
Today, Morrie was carrying the latest newspaper from the Hawkins Post. He always came to the Hawkins Comfy Corner Cafe on Tuesday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s.
He tipped his hat and smiled kindly in response and said, “I’ll just have a black coffee with two sugars and a blueberry muffin today please.”
“Of course!”, you affirmed. “Coming right up!”
“Thank you Y/n.”
As you were preparing your neighbour’s order, your manager popped out from the back while knocking on the door frame to get your attention.
“Psst! Y/n”, he whispered, “do you think you could stay and close up tonight? I have to leave early today for my daughter’s dance recital at 5.”
You nodded. “Yeah, no worries, Francis, I got it.”
“Thank you, Y/n! You’re a life saver!” he smiled gratefully, giving you a thumbs up. You offered a tight-lipped smile in return.
You made your way over to Morrie and brought him his cup of coffee and his blueberry muffin as he thanked you once again. “How was school for you today, my dear?” he asked kindly.
“Oh you know, nothing new really” you shrugged with a half smile. “I actually had my biology test today.”
His eyes widened as he sipped his coffee. “Ooh! And how did that go?”
“I think I might have survived.”
“Did you study for it at all?”
“I did actually! I usually have a hard time being able to focus, but I don’t like sitting still for so long, but this time I managed. I think I gotta give my mom credit ‘cause she’s pretty good at pushing me to study”, you rambled, chuckling at the end.
“Then I think you did more than ‘survive’” he laughed heartily.
“I guess we’ll see the results next week then!”
At that, the bell above the shop’s door chimed, leaving Morrie to pat your shoulder. “I’ll let you go then”, he said, opening his newspaper. “Have a good rest of your day, Y/n.”
You smiled, “Thanks Morrie, you too! Say hi to Sophie for me, will ya?”
“Of course” he beamed.
As you circled around to get behind the register you were greeted with a guy and a girl bantering with each other about… something.
“I think the reason you simply haven’t found ‘the one’ Steve, is simply because you try too hard to get the ladies’ attention, you just keep flinging yourself at them”, the girl said to her friend. She had short blonde hair with front bangs, her face dotted with freckles. You’ve seen her around school a lot, but you’ve never really talked to her before. You think she’s pretty cool.
“Well for your information, Buckley, I was actually this close to going on a date with Veronica but the only reason the date got canceled was because she had a family emergency”, the guy you now know as Steve shoots back at the girl.
“‘Family emergency’?” she air quoted. “You know that’s just an excuse to get out of something, right?”
“Well, I-”
The subtle clearing of your throat got them to stop their bickering as you waited for them to place their order, even if you found what they were talking about sort of amusing. “Would you like to order something?” you suggested, attempting to hide your laugh.
“Oh! Yes”, the girl exclaimed. “I’ll have~ an espresso! Please.”
“Okay. Can I get your name?” you asked, taking out your sharpie, ready to write her name on the cup.
“Robin”, she told you.
You nodded, writing it down before turning your attention to Steve who was staring at you. “And you’ll have??”
“Hm? Oh” he chuckled nervously, snapping out of his mini trance. “I’ll have a chocolate suisse mocha please” He almost got caught staring at you. Thankfully you were busy taking Robin’s order to notice.
“Ohh-kay”, you dragged out. “Name?”
“Steve.”
“Okay, one espresso for Robin and one chocolate suisse mocha for Steve comin’ right up!” you quipped, heading over to make their hot beverages.
~~~
“Here you both go”, you said to the two friends, carefully placing their drinks on the counter.
They both thanked you before Robin piped up. “Hey- wait! Aren’t you in my biology class with Mr. Peters?”
You blinked before responding as her question kind of caught you of guard. “Uh, yeah, fourth period right?”
She nodded eagerly before Steve decided to butt in the conversation, “Wait, you have Mr. Peters? Isn’t he like- super strict?”
“Mm not really, the only way I’m surviving is just getting everything done as soon as possible, he’s actually not that bad” you said with a light smile.
“Huh, well it’s a wonder I got out of there alive”, he scoffed, momentarily remembering his time with said teacher.
You squinted at him in thought until you realized: “Wait, you just graduated not too long ago, right? I’ve seen you around the school before but not since June.”
“Uh yeah I did actually” he smiles earnestly. You think he has a nice smile.
“And now he’s out in the big wide world renting movies to people for a living”, Robin says in a teasing manner.
“Robin-”
“It’s okay though, I also rent movies to people too! And speaking of which”, she continues, subtly nudging Steve’s side before leaning over the counter,“you should come by Family Video sometime!” Steve doesn’t say anything and just smiles. He’s too baffled at Robin’s sudden impulsivity. It’s something he’s used to, sure, but it sort of catches him off guard, but that’s quickly replaced with the suspicion that she could be up to something. Or maybe not, maybe she’s just being nice and inviting.
“Ya know what? Maybe I should stop by sometime”, you say. Steve perks up at this, but you don’t see it. “I haven’t seen a good movie in a hot minute since school’s started and whatnot. But um… yeah. Maybe I should.”
“Great! How does tomorrow sound?” Robin asks hopefully.
You frowned for a moment as you were thinking about it. “Oh, tomorrow?” you ask. “I’m working again, same time as today. But maybe I can get off early, ‘cause I know Saturdays are pretty busy, right? That’s what my mom tells me anyways.”
They both nod.
You consider it before continuing, your face lighting up in excitement. “Okay! No promises or anything but I can definitely try. When do you guys close tomorrow?”
Steve finally speaks up before Robin could get another word out. “10:30.” He smiles at you.
You nodded in understanding. “Okay cool! I’ll try to drop by after my shift tomorrow.”
“Awesome!” Robin pipes up again with a grin. “We’ll see you tomorrow!” She slowly starts walking towards the door as you wave at her with a friendly smile.
“See ya then.”
Steve raises his cup in gratitude, mumbling a quiet ‘thank you’ your way before taking a sip. Soon enough, they were both out the door.
“They seem nice!” Morrie said from his seat right after they left, startling you a bit. You forgot he was still here.
“What?”
“They seem nice!” he repeated. “Do you know them?”
“Mm no, not really. I’ve seen them around before but I’ve never actually talked to them.” you confessed.
Morrie takes a sip of his drink, almost thoughtfully, before putting it down. “I think they want to be your friends, Y/n! You always keep to yourself.”
You shrugged. “Yeah, I know…”
“Do you ever hang out or interact with anyone you know?”
“Yeah, I talk to you and Sophie and my mom”, you say confidently.
“I meant do you ever interact with anyone your age?” he rephrased.
You stayed quiet, your silence giving away your answer.
“It’s always good to have at least a couple of good friends”, he tells you in a kind manner. “You might like it, and while you’re busy with school and work, that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying the time you have while you’re still young. And what better way to do that than to have at least two good friends to spend it with.”
You had to admit that he had a point. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. “I guess you’re right.”
~~~
“Okay…” Steve started after he pulled out of the Comfy Corner’s parking lot. “What was that??”
“What was what?” Robin asked, feigning innocence.
“Uhh you just tried setting me up with that girl!”
“What, Y/n L/n? What’s wrong with her, she’s so nice!”
“It’s not that, I just didn’t expect you to-”
“Talk to her for you?”
He gives her a pointed look. “I would have done it myself.”
“Yeah well you didn’t, you were too busy staring at her to really say anything.”
“That’s not true-”
“Sure it isn’t, but that doesn’t matter because she’s gonna come by tomorrow! And then you can actually talk to her.” She takes a sip of her coffee and relishes in its taste.
“She said she’ll try to come by tomorrow”, Steve rebuttled.
“She said ‘see ya then”! But even if she can’t make it, she’d probably try another day, she seemed interested in going!” The blonde clasped her hands together, smiling wide before turning to look at her friend. “And if and when she does come by, just be you and who knows! Maybe you can charm her! Or! I’ll steal her from you”, she joked at the end. “She’s really pretty~”
“Yeah, okay I got it” he snapped, pretended to be annoyed. Robin knew he wasn’t actually mad. He spared a quick glance at her before sighing inwardly.
Maybe she’s right. It couldn’t hurt to try (again). The only thing that would get hurt would be his ego if you were to reject him. After all, he was out of high school and his “King Steve” persona wasn’t really helping him out, Dustin had told him that a while ago. Popularity was something that wouldn’t last and it didn’t really get you anywhere, and Steve was slowly beginning to understand that after his last date had canceled on him. But perhaps he could apply Robin’s advice and just go with the flow. Maybe he could actually connect with someone. A true, genuine connection. Not one that only revolved around sex. He didn’t want that anymore.
If he got to know you and good things came out of it, who knows what it could become. It could be something normal for once. He just had to chill out for a moment and be himself.
Just be yourself.
That’s all he has to do.
~~~
It was dead at the café today and your shift partner never showed up. Not that it was much of a surprise, Ronnie wasn’t the most reliable co-worker, but it was starting to get on your nerves a bit. But that was tomorrow’s problem because as you closed up the shop, you actually found yourself looking forward to tomorrow night.
Morrie was right after all. Just because you were busy didn’t mean that you couldn’t live a little and enjoy life. That’s what everyone’s been telling you since you moved to Hawkins.
“Try to have fun!”
“Y/n, don’t get so caught up with work!”
“You’re still so young, so make the most of it!”
Perhaps it was time to heed their advice. That’s what you kept telling yourself now as you biked down the empty street to your house. You just had to let loose a little and try not to worry so much.
All you had to do was try.
Just try.
~~~
Weow, the fic no one asked for! I uploaded something interesting for once! Nice! :D

song of the day:
today was js another day fr. i’m so beyond annoyed with everything that I think the second school ends i’m going to burst into tears. like trust, I love school. I love seeing my friends, teachers (mr c:)) and js the fun moments but the stress and anxiety that come with it are killing me. I didn’t something that wasn’t like stupid, but it wasn’t very well thought thru a couple month ago and the consequences are getting closer and closer and i’m so scared. I don’t even care about what I did. i’m mainly scared of what my parents with say. I don’t want them to be disappointed in me. I don’t want them to think i’m dumb. because I did something kinda dumb the other day and I can’t have it happen again. but I don’t want to focus on that right now. I want to focus on like romance cause yeshhh. so I have had 2 crushes develop in the past 5 days. well one of them has technically been developing but I didn’t face it till thursday. the first one is on one of my friends. he’s like funny, and pretty smart, and he’s like cute. he’s kinda emo and grunge. he’s always been nice to me but he’s like a little mean to everyone and like we are play mean all the time. I made him this little ceramic skate park before I knew I had a crush on him and I gave it to him today but he wasn’t feeling too good so he js smiled and said thank you. it wasn’t what I was hoping for but it’s whatever. ik he’s upset cause yesterday there was an art show and we were both supposed to have our pieces in it but only mine were there and we couldn’t find his :(. I could tell he was like disappointed but I didn’t wanna say anything. he’s been trying to better himself recently so ik why he’s been acting weird. but at the same time I don’t think I have a crush on him like that cause i’ve had a crush on this other dude for like 6 months. and ik me and him won’t date and the chances of me genuinely getting with my friend are higher but my feelings for this random guy are super strong and I recently developed another tc so I don’t wanna get with him when all these other feelings are around.
speaking of tc, mr c. I literally have like noooo idea where it came from. last tuesday we had testing and I was mad bored and started thinking about teachers. and I was thinking about him cause I accidentally had mixed him up with another teacher and was laughing about it in my head. then I was like “he kinda…” and lemme js say my mind was going crazy at 10 in the morning. so I was like ahahahaha this guy. yeah this my new tc. and trust i’ve had tcs before. like my 7th and 8th grade english teacher was fineee. anyways tho. I found out so much about mr c already. he goes to the same church my cousin like pastors at, ik where his fav coffee place is, and his full name! I love the internet for that. today there was a feild trip for his class and when they came back he came into my 4th and was like “you should all take my class!!!! you can get dutch bros!” and its so funny to me he’s like a big kid. i’ve never had him as a teacher tho. js a sub. he says hi to my friend every morning while I walk with them and i’m like bro hs say “hi -, hi -‘s friend!!!” common bro be nice. but it is what it is. ugh I love having a crush. anyways i’m so sleepy. gn<3

~ Day 11 of self care writing ~
December 5th, 2023, Tuesday 5:18 pm
Hello and good evening! Dang, it feels like it's been a while since I've done self care writing. The reason being is last week, from Thursday to Sunday, I was at my sisters' and brother-in-law's place, visiting, and having a good time. :) I guess I didn't find time to write! But here we are now! ;)
Things I've been doing lately that have brought me joy:
Illustrations! My family had an early Christmas since we will be in Canada visiting extended family over actual Christmas, so we opened gifts and all that good stuff. I got, from my parents, a set of nice, dual-tipped markers and a set of fine-tipped black pens I've been wanting. (+ some amazing cow slippers) And I've been using them to doodle little illustrations that I love. I'm planning on, for my friends' Christmas gifts, drawing them lil' illustrations. So, I'm excited for that. :)
Reading Christmas rom-coms! Of course I had to include reading somewhere. I just finished A Merry Little Meet Cute (mentioned in previous posts) and I loved it! That was the first non-graphic novel book that I've finished in a while! Well, non-graphic novel that I hadn't read before. ;) And now I've just started another Christmas romance book called Meet Me Under the Mistletoe by Jenny Bayliss. I'm not very far in it yet but I'm enjoying it. :)
Annotating my books! I haven't annotated many books, the first being Delirium by Lauren Oliver. The first book in my favorite trilogy, which I'm currently re-reading and annotating. But I've started doing this more lately, not to all of my books and not to graphic novels, but I love jotting down my thoughts on the pages or drawing little doodles next to my favorite quotes. :)
Tumblr media
La La Land page break (image from pinterest) because I've been loving me some musicals lately. My sister and I were singing Hamilton all weekend and I showed her some Heathers and we sang some of Beetlejuice as well. ;) I started watching the original Broadway musical of Newsies as well. I'm not finished going through it but I am loving every second of it.
Some self care things that I've done lately:
:) Yesterday I took the whole day to really soak in my Relaxing Mondays. I slept in, stayed in my pajamas until the afternoon, did some illustrations and reading, watched shows, it was great.
:) Today while I had some downtime at work, I focused on the questions my therapist left for me to answer to better understand myself in a way. I did those and writing it all down really helped. I have yet to read over my answers but I think answering them is good for now.
:) I've stopped myself from comparing my art to others* (with the help of an encouraging post). And just drawing what I want and what I feel, IN MY OWN WAY. If some people don't appreciate it like I do, then it isn't art for them. And I'm not making art for them. I'm making art for me. There's always going to be someone out there who appreciates what you do in some way.
*or, doing better at not doing it lately ;)
Tumblr media
Doctor Who gif because I just started this amazing, confusing show and a reminder that you should feel as fabulous as they look- even more so. 'Cause you are a fabulous being. <3
Given the places that I've been in my mind, I am in a better place right now. And I'm proud of myself for that. You should be proud of yourself too. Try to notice the small and simple things in life and learn to love them, love where you're at, and love yourself. Because the more you notice them, they won't seem so small all the time. :)
Until next time,
Thalia <3

Today wasn't too bad I suppose. It didn't start very well because I slept through all 20 of my alarms. It's kind of ridiculous that I have to set that many as it is but I have a bad habit of hitting the snooze button. I usually get up around 4:30 or 5 but today I didn't get up until 6:15 and that's when I normally have to leave on Wednesdays.
I stayed up way too late last night but I wouldn't have been able to sleep even if I had tried because it was too loud. The neighbors down the street were lighting off super loud fireworks until almost 1 in the morning. I was so pissed and I really wanted to go over there and tell them they were being rude but I'm not a confrontational person. I don't even remember falling asleep but I don't think I got more than 4 hours. I guess having 2 days off messed me up too and I also forgot I had to be there earlier. I work at 7 on Mondays and Tuesdays and 6:30 on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Luckily I still had time to get everything set up and get breakfast before cases started at 7:30. I had 24 today but I got done with them by 3:00. I had time to sit down and eat my lunch too. It definitely was better than last Wednesday. I had 31 cases that day due to add-ons and there was also an hour delay because one of the surgeries took longer than usual so I ended up having to stay late and I was already exhausted. I was so grumpy after that and Thursday sucked.
I also got mad last week because that creepy guy I work with that won't leave me alone tried hitting on me again in front of a bunch of people and I basically had to tell had to tell him to fuck off. It was embarrassing. After that incident, he left the department for a while and when he came back he was clearly in a bad mood and was banging stuff around. It felt like he was trying to be intimidating or something and he also kept trying to find reasons to talk to me. I told him previously that I thought it was weird that he kept calling me beautiful and amazing and I tried to make it clear that it made me uncomfortable. I haven't shown any interest whatsoever so I don't understand why he keeps trying. I don't trust him. He doesn't seem to show a lot of respect for women. He's very desperate for a relationship and I'm not the only girl he acts that way towards. He cornered another girl in the stairwell to get her phone number. I'm not sure why she gave it to him since she said that she doesn't like him either. I would never give him any of my information. Most of the girls are uneasy around him and he likes to go around trying to get hugs. If he tries to say or do anything else to me like that I'm going to HR. He says he's planning on working there a long time and I can't wait to get away from him. At least I don't have to see him at all this week since he's out of town. I don't want him to come back but I'm happy that I haven't had to see him since he did that.
I got to leave work a couple minutes early so that was nice. I went to the store to get cat food and more snacks for myself. I have been eating so much junk food. I think I have actually gained a couple pounds which is good news. Some of my clothes are fitting better. I hope I can continue gaining weight but I also need to eat a little healthier sometimes. I don't even know how much I weigh right now since I don't have a scale so I guess I will find out when I go to the doctor on Friday. I'm also still planning on asking for her to increase my dosage of lamotrigine to 175mg a day since I've been taking 150mg for a while now. I am going to see if she will give me ativan or something for my anxiety. I have taken anxiety meds before and I don't really like them but lately I'm having a really hard time managing it. I haven't had blood work done in a while so I should probably ask to have that done too.
I'm going to make some dinner soon and get ready for bed. I'm sure I will sleep a lot better tonight and hopefully I actually wake up on time in the morning. I'm glad I only have to work one more day this week and tomorrow shouldn't be too busy. I'm going to do my best to make it a good day.

Friday January 6 2023
This year already looking like it's even going to be worst than last year, especially regarding my finances. Last year, right after midnight, I applied for my 2014 National Housing Trust refund. However, months after other people, who had applied long after me, got theirs, I still had not got mine. I never got mine until June and NHT explained it was due to an issue with my employer and after a back-and-forth between HR and Payroll Dept., the company finally admitted nonchalantly that it was their fault. But during that time when I was being directed to Payroll, who by the way, never answered any e-mail that I sent, I was told by HR that Payroll said, while checking on the monthly NHT deductions in 2014 (which NHT said never reached them), they discovered that I had not paid any National Insurance for years even though I explained that my payslips reflected that I did. I was told I would have to prove that to them and would have to go into their online system and make copies of every month's payslip going back for a few years (maybe 4 or more years. I don't remember as I'm not in front of my work computer now). I spent nights after work, searching through my records on HR's website, snipping and filing payslips so I could attach them to the e-mail I was going to send. When I finally sent them, HR said Payroll said I was not the employee who had the issue but another one. Later in the year, on May 26 some unscrupulous person cloned my card and withdrew $30,000 from my Credit Union account. I was told by the Credit Union, which is associated with my employers, that it would take 2 weeks to resolve. It took 5 months after numerous phonecalls and visits to the C.U., where I was promised many callbacks and never got a single one in those 5 months. Before that happened though, an ATM took the Mastercard given me by the C. U. Once again I was told 2-3 weeks and I would get a call. I'm in the 4th month now and no call and no card. I have to visit the C.U. office everytime I get paid or need to do a transaction, the last time being last month. The card still hadn't arrived. Soon I'll start working from the workplace again and it will just be a 5-minute walk to the C.U., and therefore no more expensive taxi fares to get a few dollars and no more begging time from my manager or working back the time when I reach back late from the C.U.
Employees whose salary goes to the C.U. are usually the last to see their pay, even though there is a close business relationship between the two, but the one thing that always comes through fast for me is my salary advances. Last year I applied Tuesday the 4th and got it Thursday the 6th. The Payroll person got promoted last year and a new employee to the company took over the Payroll position. Since then, my pay has been arriving earlier as if I was banking with a regular bank. So this year, when I applied for my advance on Tuesday the 3rd, I expected it to reach by yesterday Thursday the 5th or even earlier since this new person is in the position. And especially since I got a response from her Tuesday, when with the previous person I'd get none. Today, I e-mailed her and she explained she was on vacation in December and had urgent deliverables to deal with. However she said she had initialed the advances and was waiting on a approval. She apologized for the inconvenience. As we are trained to say, it's Mea Culpa, my fault, our fault, when God doesn't answer our prayers, and that was my one and therefore first big prayer of the year. So I'll say it's my bad management of my salary I'm December and now I don't know when I'll get my advance and I dare not pray about it because that will only make it worse. I have checked this for misspellings and I can't bother. I'm hungry with no food and the sounds of the rumblings of my stomach may soon put me to sleep. I guess I'm going to fast til whenever. Thank God that since last year I'm not so interested in life.

3 October - 8 October weeknotes
I went to Goodreads to see the reviews of a travel book I’m reading. One person said simply ‘I learned nothing from this book’. Another said it was beautiful. It’s really just a collection of moments on a timeline: conversations, people and places, complicated transport, religious customs and convention. Everything and nothing happens, depending on your point of view and what you’re looking for. Much like life, I suppose.
I wonder about writing novels. Collecting moments in time and then stringing them together.
I’m enjoying James Reeves on Atlas Minor as he shifts from fact to fiction (via Phil). He writes beautifully – and selectively. Personally, I’m still going with ‘First forget inspiration. Habit is more dependable.’ - Octavia Butler, via Russell.
This is interesting too. The way we tell stories of our lives can shape our memories.
Monday 3 October
The sunrise is epic. I watch it through the window, tracking a helicopter as it heads towards town. What a time to fly. It’s probably a private flight to the city. Bound to be men. They must feel like kings.
Tuesday 4 October
It’s hot out - 14 degrees. But an unremarkable sky, so I litter pick. When I finally decide to dive in for an awkward crisp packet I hear a voice behind me. “Got your old job back then?”. It’s T’s mate - speaking for the second time in 2 years. I right myself, turn around and spin a yarn about a boring job for a boring sunrise – ask him and his mate if they saw yesterday’s. They did. Appreciative nods all round. I think he misses T.
The size of the damn litter bags really dictates where I walk. It’s not so bad in the park at the moment so I end up walking along the main road, which, frankly, isn’t that nice. But it does need all the help it can get, and it does mean I can fill up the bag. I hear a van toot, assume it’s not for me and ignore it. It toots again. It’s T, obviously. Too late to see, but I know he’s laughing as he’s driving.
Wednesday 5 October
The world’s still black and white. And it’s quiet. Listen to the wind pick up and wonder if I can skip today, stay in bed? Surely it’s about to rain. When I finally leave the house I go from hating the morning to loving it in the time it takes to close the door. What a day! Noisy, blustery.
“It’s… wild!?” Says a man I’ve seen a lot, but never said more than hello to before. “Yes! And hot!” It is hot. 16 degrees according to my phone.
The woods are a liability. If it’s not raining acorns, it’s sweet chestnuts.
As I take the path between the fields, the sun crests the hill. The cows have been moved to the other field and in their place, somehow - in a treeless field - a whorl of leaves catches the light.
Thursday 6 October
We watched Gardeners’ World last night. As in previous weeks, there’s a strong focus on gardening for drought, and supporting the ever diminishing wildlife. Like ‘make do and mend’, but this time it’s for the climate. Worried we might be making do, but falling short on the other bit.
Meeting in town, so I walked up through Green Park. The flowers for the queen are raked into piles now, snaking behind railings, composting slowly.
Friday 7 October
I wasn’t going to take a bag to the wood. I’m already concerned that I’m “the woman who walks too slowly and says hello to passing dogs and strangers”. I could do without also being the one that’s spotted grubbing around in the undergrowth. In the end I put a bag in my pocket and decided I wouldn’t use it. I’d just take it.
Then of course, I saw the sweet chestnuts, shining in their newly popped shells and… I’ve never collected them before, but I was curious. And as these were so plump and new – and there’s so many left for the squirrels – I thought I’d give it a try.
Arrive home with not quite enough time to roast them before an 8:45am meeting. So I wash them and cut crosses in. When I come out of the second meeting I race to the kitchen and whack ‘em in the oven. 15-20 mins later: perfect! They worked a treat and they’re delicious.
Also, the yew berries are out in the wood. Not delicious (poisonous) but I’ve always loved the look of them. Slightly translucent, and like tiny round, red stuffed olives.
Saturday 8 October
I have things to do, really. Not least, bake a cake with the chestnuts. Also I need to plant some bulbs. And sort out the tomato plants. And go to the gym. Another cup of tea first though.

Bittersweet Critic — Steve Harrington ☘︎︎
Tumblr media
TW: Cussing??
Requested: None
Pairing: Steve Harrington x GN! Reader
Lydinous Radio: Bittersweet— Kennen
Summary: Steve is sick and tired after working at Family Video for months after the Starcourt incident. Christmas break comes up, meaning more people coming over to their homes. Unlike him, a witty college student comes by for an odd request, making him look like that douche from years back. Days later, he finds this person again, wanting to apologize for the prude actions from the previous..
Masterlist — Requests are open!
Another boring day.
Cold everywhere.
Showing where the bathroom was.
Rummaging through movie posters.
Checking out the pretty girls.
Organizing VHS shelves.
Another Thursday in the cold mornings in Hawkins, Indiana. Steve Harrington had been sick of working at Family Video after working here for 3 months since the incident in July. Now he and Robin were taking different shifts in days and rarely got time to work together at the same times. Watching the customers coming in and out of the store, he sighed due to boredom working there. He would’ve been off to college, possibly coming back for Christmas Break since everyone was coming home for Christmas. More families and couples came in and out of the store now, happy-looking faces, and cheerful moods. Steve realized how lonely he was, after his heartbreak with Nancy, the rejection from Robin, just grew on him, leaving him with the group of kids he mentally adopted. Where was he going with his life now? Was there a possible future for him? Is there-
“Hello? Are you deaf or something?”
The voice made him snap out of his thoughts and feelings to find a conventional rather good-looking person who stood upon him. Steve shakes his head to focus on his attention. “Sorry I was..... I was.....”
”Distracted?” You smiled at him and tapped your fingers on the counter.
Steve nods at your response and shrugs, “I suppose you’re correct.”
“I’m always correct,” You boasted while trying to sound humble about it. There was a silent chuckle shared between the two of you, but continued with the silence, “Anywho, I was wondering if you could give me a good movie recommendation.”
”A what now?” He questioned while being throughly confused by the weird request given by this person who he had just met in 5 minutes.
You sigh at his reaction and lean closer, “I need a good movie recommendation.”
”Oh... Oh...Right,” Steve looks around, trying to remember the movies he’s seen. Although working at a video store, it was hard to keep up with the most popular movies nowadays. He snaps with his fingers and looks up at you, “Back to the future is a good one.”
”I’ve watched it and it wasn’t that good.”
Well, there went one shot. Steve tried to keep concentration in this memory from the last film he saw while dozing off to look at you. Realizing another movies, he chuckles, “Star Wars?”
”A new hope?” You say, furrowing your eyebrows. It reminded Steve when he first got the job at this shithole.
”I don’t really know,” He mumbles, digging his fingers into his hair and watches you cross your arms.
“Well isnt this store supposed to have good staff that actually know a bit about film?”
Steve squints his eyes and clicks his tongue, “Well, I’m just a teenage boy who couldn’t get into college and is trying to earn a living, so I don’t know much.”
“Oh,” You sigh, looking down at your feet, and slide your paper from a notebook harshly across the counter, “Thanks for the help dipshit.”
”Are you a movie critic or something?” He desperately blurts out, wanting to continue to talk to someone,making you turn back to him.
In awe, you look at him up and down, sternly as you said, “I’m not, but I’m studying to work in the film industry in the future as if I’m here to fill out this assignment about the public’s perception on movies, but it’s okay if you don’t want to help, you don’t seem like it.”
”No! It’s actually okay,” Steve apologizes, softening his face and extended his hand to give him the paper, “I really got nothing else to do.”
You watched his hand, almost with pleading eyes to do something in such boredom he was in. After a hot minute of decided, you smiled and breathed to walk away to the exit of the store, “No thank you dipshit! Just remember first impressions are important!”
”What?” Steve gasps, with his mouth open at such rejection, watching you swiftly walk outside into your car to drive off. First impressions were important, he had looked like a total asshole in front of them. Now this was just a huge blow for him, no luck.
☘︎︎ ☘︎︎ ☘︎︎
“So..... what are you doing tomorrow?” Dustin questions, shuffling his feet in the snowy cement, putting his small hands in his pockets to avoid frostbite.
Steve sniffs, watching the people inside relaxing inside the cafe on a Tuesday morning in Hawkins, it was still Christmas break and now both guys were going to have their own day after the holidays.
”I don’t know, I’ll probably catch a movie,” He sighs, shivering in the snow falling on his hair. Watching the people inside, he sees that one familiar person. That movie critic. Different it was though, the person looked awfully stressed with a huge amount of papers scurried everyone on the table, not that one put together person he saw a few days back. His stomach dropped at the sight, not wanting to interact with them, “oh shit, oh shit, oh shit, can we cancel this? I’m not comfortable.”
Dustin looked up at Steve, “Why not? We get a free time to hang out together, I heard they give the best hot chocolate!” Seeing Steve flustered, Dustin turned to see at what he was looking at before getting so weird, it seemed to be a person, somewhat Steve’s age, good-looking meanwhile scribbling notes onto sheets of paper. He hangs his mouth open and nudges Steve with a sly smile, “Oooooh! Someone’s got a crush!”
”Shut up,” He snaps, making Dustin stop giggling like an idiot. Steve gulps and feels a bit anxious about it, after all this time, why did he feel this way?
“Try talking to them,” Steve’s friend advices, both of them watching her through the window in deep concentration, “Until you feel the electricity.”
Steve glances at Dustin, “Don’t use my advice against me.”
”It’s not that bad, Steve,” Dustin claims, moving his jacket around a bit, “Maybe this is your chance.”
”Chance,” He scoffs at the comment, “I haven’t felt like this in months, what ever happened to the glory days where everybody would fall for me at first sight?”
“They probably like you,” Dustin shrugs and looks up at his friend hopelessly sigh, “What’s the matter? Do they not?”
“Well......” He mumbles, trailing off, “I made a really bad impression on them, they came over to the store and I seemed like an asshole, they don’t like me.”
After peering through the window, both boys noticed that same person’s eyes meet theirs. Panicked, they looked away rapidly, trying to not make the situation awkward. The person they were eyeing went back to their task, Dustin ran to the door, dragging Steve inside, “Go talk to them.”
Steve flattened his jacket and breathed deeply, feeling Dustin’s pudgy hands push him forward, making the bell ring as soon as he walked inside. Feeling awkward, he slowly trudged towards the table where you were sitting.
”Hey,” He shyly whispered, ruffling his hands inside his sweater, you looked up to meet his warm, brown eyes, confused of who this might be.
”Hey?” You watch him stand weirdly in front of you, feeling a sense of awkwardness in the air, “Take a seat if you want.”
Steve pulls the chair back to sit, scooting himself forward into the table. He looked over at Dustin who was grinning from the outside of the cafe, “How are you?”
”Fine, but have we met?” You squinted, trying your best to remember him, although you couldn’t, then went back to scurrying through your assignments.
”I believe so,” He watches you scurry through more and more assignments, writing quick notes on each page, “What are you working on?”
After finishing the second to last pair of notes, you reply, “Assignments, it’s crazy how college still wants to make you work your ass even though you’re on break. And how have we met?”
”Film student right?” The comment he made making you look up, he was correct. You nodded, watching his every move on how he knew, he sighs and goes on, “Well I’m that asshole that couldn’t do your stupid assignment for college.”
Wide eyed, you nodded your head and breathily giggled, “Oh yeah, the dipshit.”
”The dipshit,” He nervously repeated, remembering the brood impression he made on you, “Yeah so...... how did that go?”
”No one else wanted to do it,” You huffed as the memories of what dick he had been towards you, he seemed sorry for you, rapidly making sharp eye contact and looking away.
Steve watched your expressions changed as your thoughts did too, “Sorry about that.” Was all he said.
“It’s whatever,” You shrug, getting irritated a bit, but before you could comment anything else, he blurted out.
”Wecouldgowatchamovietogetheranddothatwork.”
All you did was giggle at his flustering comment he gave you, he looked so hopeless and dazed off. Taking a sip of your French Roast coffee, feeling the bitter taste touch your taste buds, a new burst of energy filling you, you scratched your head, “Not so easy..... Dipshit. A. I don’t even know your name and who you are, B. you’re desperate.”
”I- w-what?” His words tumbled off his mouth, denying the answer, “I’m not, I-I just wanna help you.”
His dumbfounded expression made it harder for you not to laugh, “It’s okay, I was just teasing you. And I’m free around 4, if that works out.”
”O-oh, yeah I mean I have work but a day to skip won’t hurt,” Steve chuckles, feeling tingly around his hands, he had never felt this for years on end. Cliche much right?
You raised your eyebrows up and a tiny smile escaped your lips, “Okay, just so you know, it’s going to be a challenge to warm up to me.”
He nods his head, bringing his hands together in front of you, “Well I’m up for that challenge!”
”You dipshit.”
”You movie critic.”

Piano, Thanksgiving and heart attack
A/N: I wrote this with the intention of continuing this story ➡ New Dodger photo  , but it can safely be treated as a one shot.
Summary: I think the title explains it all 💙
Warnings: age gap, Scott and Chris are assholes, swearing, mistakes
Words: 1,5k +
Tumblr media
TUESDAY
You growled in frustration not being able to remember a single word and what was in the linguistic pragmatics tasks.
"Stupid subject" you muttered, throwing your pencil across the room and letting it hit the wall. Dodger, who was lying on the couch behind you and keeping you company, raised his ears to the sound.
You've been sitting in the living room with your back against the sofa for a good five hours because your lecturer thought up an exam the day before the long weekend. Because, of course, speech acts, language functions, the theory of speech acts, and the communicative intention are so damn important that they can't wait until next week.
"Fuck" you cursed under your breath and rubbed your tired eyes. You felt your head starting to ache. And tears fall from my eyes from staring at the laptop screen for a long time. You needed a break, but you knew that if you do it, there is no chance that you will go back to studying. Being stubborn and hard to give in by nature, you took a deep breath and started reading the definitions and tasks once again.
Chris, of course, knew how difficult and hard this item was for you, so he was always as quiet as possible, occasionally bringing you a bowl of fruit, coffee, or tea, and ordered take-out food. He was loved. Even though you didn't thank him and just nodded your head, or just said nothing and paid him no attention, he knew you appreciated his help anyway. But seeing you sitting another hour in front of the computer with red eyes and tired, broke his heart. He couldn't watch his love work to death, and he knew that if he asked you to take a break, you wouldn't. So he came up with an idea, the implementation of which would make you leave your studies.
So he went to the piano standing against the wall and after a few minutes of choosing what he wanted to play, he put his fingers on the keys and caused the first notes to come out of the instrument.
You stretched and flipped through the notes page when you heard like music fills the air without effort, the sound rushing in and around every person in the room. You smiled and closed your eyes, leaning your head against the couch behind you. You listened to the melodies played by your boyfriend, feeling it sweep your whole body. The best thing about music was that it gave you strength and motivation. The variety of music in the universe is so diverse that there is something for everyone to enjoy. Music doesn't worry about anything; that’s the beauty of music.
You turned to Dodger and stroked his head.
"Dad is probably giving us a sign that there is enough study for today"
Dodger licked your face. “Okay, okay, that's it. Come on "you got up and stretched again. The dog jumped off the couch and followed you into the room where Chris was playing.
Chris was sitting in sweatpants and a navy blue sweater. His long fingers moved over the keyboard of the instrument, pressing the keys in the correct order so that the emerging notes formed a melody.
You walked up to him and hugged him from behind. "Thank you," you whispered in his ear and kissed his cheek.
"I'm glad you finally got away from studying. Do you like what I play?
"Very" you sat down next to him and put your head on his shoulder "Can you play any more?" you asked.
Chris kissed your head and started playing again.
Now sitting close to him and the instrument, you could hear and feel the musician much more clearly than before. Dodger lay down on his bed near you and listened too. Your eyes immediately felt heavy. You closed them, but you tried to stay awake. He had time, music surrounded the space him. You had to admit that of the many talents Chris had, this one was one of your favorites.
"I think it's time to sleep, Princess" you nodded and you let him rise you from chair. You wrapped your arms around his neck and your legs around his waist, holding tight. "I guess I should start talking to you Koala" he laughed and you pressed your face against the hollow of his neck.
After a warm shower and putting on something to sleep, you both cuddled into each other, or rather you into Chris not allowing a minimum of a gap between your bodies. Even though you had an important exam tomorrow, you felt calm and knew that you would do well tomorrow.
THURSDAY
Quick update: there was no exam because it turned out that the lecturer did not have time to prepare the questions. You were relieved, but you were also furious because you could spend this time with your beloved men. However, you will not turn back the time, and what was now mattered.
You sat snuggled up to Chris on the couch in his mom's living room and watched as two pupies and Dodger attacked Scott on the floor. You tried not to laugh because you knew the video would end up on Instagram, but you really couldn't help but see this scene. Even Stella giggled and watched the whole thing happen. You put your cheek to Chris's shoulder when he finished recording.
"All right?" he whispered to you, seeing your eyes freeze at one point, you were thinking something
"Yes. I'm just happy. Thank you for taking me with you to your mother's Thanksgiving. Maybe I shouldn't, but I feel like I'm surrounded by my family."
"How could I not take you with me," he said in an offended tone. The invitation was obvious to him and he saw no other scenario for the day. "Honey, you shouldn't feel bad about being comfortable with my family. On the contrary, I'm glad you feel that way. It means a lot to me. And I can assure you that they also treat you like a family member." he kissed you on the lips to which you heard "ugh!" and laughed seeing Stelle covering her eyes.
 Later that same day
You, Chris, Scott, and Dodger came back to Chris's house. All the way you couldn't stop laughing at the guys whining about eating too much.
As soon as you entered the house, the three men took their place on the couch in front of the TV. You rolled your eyes and being a good girlfriend, you went to the fridge for a beer.
"What have I done to deserve you," Chris said, taking a cold bottle of amber drink from you.
"Don't get used to it too much" you kissed him, "I'm going to take a shower" you add and disappeared down the hall.
"Don't you dare to let her go," said Scott, being sure you couldn't hear "If you do, I’m gonna kick your American ass." he took a sip.
"Funny." Chris laughed, "Don't worry, I'm not going to let her go."
Getting more comfortable after showering, you put on leggings and Chris's hoodie. Completely unaware that a trap awaits you as soon as you exit the master bedroom.
You've been moving around Chris's house by heart. So instead of looking straight ahead, you looked at the phone. Chris and Scott were standing behind the wall so that you couldn't see them and both of them, with video recording, waiting for you. After a while, they heard your footsteps and they both looked at each other. Chris showed three fingers as he counted. 3... 2 ... 1 ...
"Y / N !!!" they both shouted giving you a heart attack.
"Aaaaaaaaaa ... !!!" you screamed, terrified, and you jumped up and you slipped and fell. Chris grabbed you at the last minute and pulled you close. "Are you crazy ?!" you snarled.
Your heart was beating dangerously fast in your chest, your breathing couldn't slow down. Both guys were laughing when you thought you were having a heart attack.
"I'm sorry, Princess, but you were the only one I hadn't scared off yet."
"Be careful I don't scare you, you asshole," you threatened by hitting him on the chest. "How old are you? 5?"
"Oh, don't say you haven't got used to our childish behavior yet." Scott smiled at which you rolled your eyes.
"Sorry," Chris repeated and kissed the top of your head.
"You guys are so cute," commented Scott.
"That goes for you, Scott too. You both are on my blacklist," you narrowed your eyes.
Chris hugged you tighter, feeling your heart beating fast. You hugged him, cuddling up to him and trying to calm down.
About an hour later you managed to play on them and scare them. In both cases you recorded everything and with a smile on your face, pleased with yourself, sent them the video, which they both later uploaded to Instagram.

*clears throat and begins to sing Adele* Hello. It's me.
Anyway. It's been a few days since I've posted because things are Really Not Okay here in healthcare. I just finished a 7 day stretch, 5 of which were 12 hour shifts in direct patient care. I was off today for the holiday and have been doing paperwork since getting out of bed. And this week promises to be potentially even more hellish.
Approximately 50% of our dayshift RN staff is out with covid, and 1/3 of our day shift aides. We had 5 RNs scheduled both Saturday and Sunday but were able to finagle 8 both days between overtime, flexing to cover assignments for a few hours, and prayer. Fully staffed we have 10 nurses but beggers can't be choosers at this point. Our unit is 50% covid positive patients, 25% medical, and 25% surgical (or was... we sent a CABG and a crani to the OR this morning).
I dodged a covid bullet this past week. The two assistant managers on the stepdown unit are two of my closest friends, and both of them worked Thursday. Typically we would all be working close together and would try to sneak in some office time together, but I had an assignment in the ICU. Both of them have tested positive for covid since then.
This weekend was a nightmare between inappropriate admissions and transfers, RRTs, patient movement to get our bio containment set up, and just overall not the strongest crew to be working with. Extremely needy. Needed charge to solve their problems for them (it's me, I was charge).
My educator coworkers also royally screwed me. I was told repeatedly we were moving to an online format of a cardiac arrhythmia class. The previous ICU educator taught a two-8-hour-day class with printouts that were extremely hold and had been photocopied so many times they were difficult to read. I had initially said I wanted to redo the class because even I had trouble knowing what some of them said. I was told by my two central educator coworkers for the last month: oh no, don't do that, we are moving to online!
Then last Wednesday I was told well, we are doing online but need to do some in-person supplemental. I said I cannot do that because I have not viewed the online course (it's 14 hours long) and did not have time to do that before Tuesday (tomorrow), when the class is scheduled. I said we can do the in person class but I need to plan this TODAY because that was my only day free that I could prepare. They said don't worry, we will view the online course and develop and teach the supplemental, you are off the hook.
Thursday morning these same coworkers send a "high priority" email asking if I am available to teach the two 8 hour day in person arrhythmia class. As I am in ICU with an assignment. I ignore the email.
Then Thursday my boss came back from vacation and said she did not authorize the online version, did not authorize even the online plus supplemental, that she had explicitly told these two coworkers that I was completely in charge of arrhythmia and should be making all of these decisions. Also, the online is $150 per person which is an outrageous amount of money for us to be paying for this course each month since we go through staff like nobody's business. Also also, we do not even have access to the online class and won't by Tuesday, especially since Monday (today) is a holiday.
So Thursday, as I'm in CT scan with my intubated covid positive patient, I get a call from my boss telling me all of this. I also discover that there is no room booked for this in-person arrhythmia class.
Of course Friday I had to work on bio containment, the TAVR program, and ended up in an aide assignment when we lost another aide to covid. And Saturday and Sunday I was charge on our short staffed stepdown. So today... my one day off in the course of 12 days... I am designing a new cardiac arrhythmia class.
I am beyond pissed. Now I volunteered to work the floor this weekend (for double time), but I was under the impression that I did not have to be involved in this class. And now I am the only one doing ANYTHING for this class. AND we were only able to get a room booked for one day so I don't even know what I'm going to do Wednesday. AND stepdown is supposed to bio contain tomorrow and are crazy short staffed, ICU just bio contained Friday and is short staffed, and I still am approximately a month behind on all of my paperwork because I keep getting pulled to do other stuff.
My boss and other leadership has been extremely accommodating for me and have said they pretty much don't expect me to produce any educational work that isn't urgent/emergent. I am really just pissed at these two coworkers who screwed me by lying to me and trying to gain control of a class that my boss had already told them I was in charge of, on a day she was out of office.
Okay end rant.
Anyway just wanted to let y'all know I am still alive and for now don't have covid. I'm sure my time is coming in the next few weeks. If I'm sick for my birthday I will lose my shit.

Wants And Needs ~d.a.~
daiki aomine x reader
warnings: kinda angsty, kinda fluffy. it does have a happy ending
synopsis: two people with a love for sports, finding themselves on opposite sides of the spectrum. One never puts in the effort and the other wishes they could touch the court once more.
a/n: its long haha :) self indulgence got the better of me. hope you enjoy :)
Tumblr media
Being the second manager of Touou Academy’s basketball was a fairly easy task until Momoi decided to put you on babysitting duty because Aomine seemed to be too hard to reach or find nowadays.
You’d argued her down on why it had to be you since they had been close since they were kids, but you knew it was because she couldn’t do proper stats or research if she had to worry about him.
Despite your better judgement, you agreed, putting the team’s needs before your own feelings.
The only thing you couldn’t shake is how she said that you’re the only person he’ll actually listen to. What does that even mean?
You’ve only had a few conversations with him and most of them seemed pretty tame. You’d never asked him to do anything. It was only ever minor suggestions to better his game or to help him heal afterwards but that was the extent of your friendship.
He’d just known you since you went to the same middle school as him but you both lived in different worlds then. He was the ace of the basketball team and you were the ace of the volleyball team. Your paths almost never crossed with how busy and committed you both were to your clubs, but you both respected each other and watched the other play whenever you had the chance.
“Why are you following me like a lost puppy? Don’t you have somewhere to be?” Aomine asks, snapping you out of your thoughts as he begins to ascend the ladder to the roof.
“Well, Momoi has gotten too busy to keep an eye on you, so you can call me your babysitter. It feels more like I’m supposed to be your secretary, though.”
“You can quit early. You’re not making me go to practice. There’s no point if I’m better than everyone.”
You huff, following him up. “You’re so arrogant.You know, that there’s going to come a day where someone will knock you off of your high horse or you might just do it yourself.”
He shrugs, laying down and letting his eyelids close.
“Daiki. Get up.”
He ignored you, faking a few snores in hopes that you’d give up and leave him alone.
You let out a huff, contemplating on how to get him to go to practice. “What will it take for you to start going to practice?”
“I already don’t go, and my performance is fine.”
“But your teamwork is shit,” you blurt, quickly clamping your hands over your mouth as soon as you could.
He opened one of his eyes, glancing at you. “I don’t need a team. I’m strong enough on my own.”
“Then prove it.”
“What do you mean?”
“Let’s go to practice. You’ll play by yourself versus three guys on the team. If you win, I’ll stop pestering you about practicing or being on time. If you don’t, you’ll practice on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and do strength training with me on Tuesdays and Thursdays.”
Aomine scoffs, “You must be expecting me to win with your outrageous request.”
You shake your head, “I know you’re going to lose, so I need enough punishment to get you off of your high horse. Plus, we’ll have a 3 on 1 game every week until you beat them or you admit that you can’t do it by yourself. Do we have a deal?”
He sits up, looking at you in amusement, “We have a deal if you agree to let me take you on a date after I win.”
“Then, we have a deal, Mr. Optimistic.”
He jumps up, heading for the ladder. “Let’s go. I don’t want to eat too late.”
Your eyes widened at his sudden determination to go to practice, even if it was under an agreement. You quickly followed him, having trouble since his legs were decently longer than yours.
He pushed the gym doors open and all eyes went to the two of you. They all fell silent when Aomine began to speak.
“Imayoshi, Sosa, and Harasawa. Play me. 3-on-1,” he challenged.
“Daiki-kun! What are you doing?” Momoi asks, looking in between you, him, and the three players he’d just called out.
“I’m just here to win a bet that Y/N made with me. That’s all.”
He jogs onto the court, getting ready to play and disregarding everything Momoi, you, and the coach were saying to him.
“How about we go to 21? My baskets will count for 1 or 2 points and yours will count for 2 or 3,” he smirked, passing the ball to Imayoshi as he got in a defensive stance.
“You cocky little asshole.” The match began moments later.
In only about 15 minutes, Aomine had won in a landslide. 21-5.
Your jaw dropped, “Daiki…”
He grabbed his bag off of the ground with a triumphant smirk, grabbing your hand to pull you along with him as he left. “How do burgers sound? I’m starving.”
You fell silent after you caught up with Aomine, walking beside at a leisurely pace. He let go of your hand and let out a sigh.
“You’re quiet,” he notes after a few minutes of silence, “Do you really have nothing to say to me if it isn’t about practice?”
“I’m just trying to get my thoughts together. I don’t want to say anything that I don’t really mean,” you mutter.
He nods, letting the two of you fall into silence once again as he opens the door for you to walk into the fast food restaurant.
About five minutes later, Daiki sat down across from you with a large pile of food. He hands you two burgers and some fries, knowing that you usually didn’t eat much.
“Alright, I can tell you’re mad at me,” he leans against his chair, looking at you.
“I’m not mad at you.”
“Yes, you are. You have the same look on your face when I do something extremely reckless during the game or when I almost get hurt because I didn’t take your advice.”
You huff, “Why do you spend so little time practicing basketball if you love playing so much?”
“It’s no fun when no one is a challenge anymore. I’m the only person that can beat me.”
“Can you shut up with your superiority complex bullshit!” you snap.
His eyes widened. You’ve never lost your cool before. Why did you care so much about him skipping practice?
You took a deep breath and spoke in a calmer tone. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to yell. It’s just- you claim to love the sport so much, yet, you subconsciously have given up. You’ve stopped having fun, but you don’t want to admit it.”
“Shut up,” he muttered.
“You hate the sport because you have no one to play against. Yet, winning isn’t the only reason to play. You play for your team or are you just too self-centered to realize it.”
“You don’t get to talk to me about the decisions I have made. You have no right to say that I need to play for the team when you were the best volleyball player at Teiko. You were the only person talked about as much as we were, but you quit. You gave up on your team. Don’t give me shit when you walked on the thing that made you who you are,” he sneered, getting up to leave.
“I didn’t give up. I’d committed to Rakuzan, but I got injured. They didn’t want me anymore. No strong team wanted me. Since Touou’s volleyball team is rather small since it just started last year, they still wanted me. That’s why I’m here. So don’t tell me about giving up because my love for volleyball is too strong. Everything I’ve ever done is to better myself and my team. That’s why I can have fun even if I’m beating the other team by a landslide. I can imagine how upset I have made you, and I apologize. I just- I would kill to step on the court right now. My doctor says that if I have surgery, I’ll be out for another six to nine months but my volleyball career will be guaranteed. I’ve thought about throwing away the rest of my career to play another season right now. Excuse me if seeing you flake off when you have so much potential makes me upset. I’m sorry for ruining our supposed date. Have a good night, Aomine.”
He couldn’t deny the way his heart ached after hearing your story or the way he swore that his heart broke when you called him by his last name. You haven’t done that since middle school.
His chest felt heavy, but there was nothing he could do now except to walk away. His pride being too large for an apology to fall across his lips.
It had been two weeks later and neither of you have tried to talk to the other. The team could practically feel the tension between the two of you as you sat on the opposite end of the bench to avoid being beside Aomine.
You were always the one to keep Aomine’s head afloat during games, so they weren’t sure what to expect without you quietly coaching him. They needed his complete focus during the game against Seirin and they were afraid he wouldn’t be able to keep his mind from drifting to whatever caused a rift between the two of you.
You stood up giving each of the players a pat on the back as they stepped onto the court. You placed your hand on Aomine’s shoulder as you stopped, causing him to stop and glance at you. He was going to open his mouth to say something, but you just gave him a tight lipped smile and continued to the bench and sitting by Momoi.
She gave you both sympathetic looks, knowing of the situation due to you both coming to her on separate occasions. Only Momoi knew how much of his play depended on your reassuring words and guided coaching. It wasn’t that he was terrible without you, but you gave him a purpose that neither of you realized.
The game has favored Touou for the most part, but Seirin was staying somewhat in the game. Everyone could tell that Aomine wasn’t giving his all, but no one knew how to approach him about it. They knew only you could bring him back to reality.
“Y/N, you do know that he’s started to come to practice, right?” Momoi says without taking her eyes off of the game. “He told me that he’d be there on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays only because he has strength training on Tuesdays and Thursdays.”
“Why are you telling me this?” you asked, trying to hide the shock you felt that he actually listened to you even though he won the bet.
“He said that you put some things into perspective, and he shouldn’t take his time playing basketball for granted when there are people dying to even be able to do a percentage of what he does.”
You quietly nodded, not noticing the smile that crept on your face.
Halftime came and the team quietly went to the locker room. Everyone could tell how close to breaking Aomine was.
You refilled the water bottles and grabbed some colder towels as you walked into the locker room. You gave all the players that came off of the court a towel and a bottle, receiving a small thanks as the coach talked to them.
You noticed Aomine staring at the ground, trying to keep his focus on the game. You unfolded the cool towel, placing it over his head and bent down to set the bottle in front of him.
As soon as you tried to  walk away, he grabbed your wrist, pulling you towards him until his head rested on your torso and his arms were wrapped around you. You paused, unsure of how to respond. You could have sworn you heard a soft sniffle come from him.
“Uh, Daiki-kun-” Momoi started, realizing how uncomfortable you looked.
You cut her off with a reassuring smile, “It’s okay, Momoi. Let him be.”
You look down at him, moving the towel onto his neck so you could run your hands through his hair.
The buzzer sounded to signal that there were two minutes left until the game began. Everyone piled out, but Aomine didn’t budge.
You fell silent as he looked up at you with a few tears rolling down his face. “I’ve never felt so lost on the court, Y/N. Please, tell me what to do out there! Tell me how many mistakes I’ve made. Yell at me. Hit me for being such a dumbass! I just need you to- just please- please, talk to me. I can’t take it anymore.”
“Kagami goes based on instinct, like you, so any movement that could give a hint about what you’re going to do is guaranteeing your loss in a one-on-one battle. Beating him is easy if you let yourself have some fun. This may be the only time I tell you this, but don’t hold back.”
His eyes widened, “Really?”
“Yeah. Don’t hold back and win this game for the team.”
“I’m still struggling with the team thing, but I can win this game for you, if that’s okay,” he confessed as he gets up, keeping his arms loosely wrapped around your waist.
You lightly laughed, “I guess it’s okay. I just want you to have some fun.”
“Can I kiss you?” he leans down, ghosting his lips over yours.
Knowing your words would fail you, you pulled him down, crashing his lips onto yours. His arms tightened around you as he tried to pull you impossibly close to deepen the kiss.
You pull away with a small smile on your face, patting his chest. “Let’s go before they think we’ve murdered each other.”
Aomine instantly picked you up, and rushed out of the locker room despite your protests.
“Daiki! Put me down!” you yell as the tunnel begins to end.
The team looks over at the sound of your voice to see Aomine carrying you out. They all let out a deep sigh of relief to see that the two of you were getting along again.
He sits you down and you hit him in the shoulder. “If you weren’t playing right now, I swear I would murder you!”
He laughs, giving you a quick kiss as the buzzer went off for the game to start again. “I want to cheer as loud as you can for me, yeah?”
You grin, “I’ll do my best.”
~~
A few months later, you were at the hospital, waiting to be wheeled back for surgery when Aomine bursted into your room with wide eyes and his uniform on.
“Daiki? What are you doing here? You have a game like right now!” you exclaim.
“I couldn’t play. I tried, Y/N. I really tried to stay focused during warm ups, but I can’t when you’re here, getting the surgery that brings you onto the court you love. I can’t just show up after it’s done and ask if you’re okay.”
“The team needs you.”
“The team is the reason I’m here. They’re worried about you, too. You may not play on the court, but you’ve been there for every single one of us when we needed it the most. It’s only fair that I do that same for you as your teammate, but more importantly, as your boyfriend.”
“Daiki…” your eyes soften, noticing the tears threatening to leave his eyes.
He wasn’t typically a vulnerable person. This was the first time you’d seen him so upset since that fight.
“You’re here alone when you shouldn’t have to be. Your parents are out of town. Who’s going to take care of you, baby? I know you put up this big front that you’re strong, but I don’t think you actually want to go into surgery without a comforting and familiar face.” Daiki’s voice cracks as he walks over to you. His laces your fingers together. “Let me take care of you.”
“Okay.” Your voice was small. You felt all of the emotions you’d been holding in start pouring out as tears began to fall down your face.
He wipes a few tears off of your face, pulling the chair closer to the edge of the bed to sit down. “How long until it’s time?”
“Ten minutes.”
He nods, letting the both of you fall into a comfortable silence.
“Daiki?” you asked after a few minutes of silence.
He hums in response as he looks over at you.
“What if I’m a part of the unlucky 25 percent that can’t play again?”
“Y/N, you’re overthinking. Everything will go perfect. You’ll be playing volleyball next season, and I’ll get to cheer my girl on from the sidelines. If anything other than that happens, we’ll burn that bridge when we get to it. Either way, you have me.” He bends down to rummage in his bag, pulling out a teddy bear and handing it to you. “I got you this to hold onto during the surgery.”
“Thank you, Daiki.” You grabbed it from him, wrapping your arms around it tightly as you noticed that it smelled of his cologne. Your heart swelled as he successfully calmed you.
Five minutes later, the nurse came in to wheel you to the back. He gave you a soft kiss on the forehead and watched them wheel you out.
The next three hours were excruciating for Aomine. He sat there in silence for the most part, checking his phone for updates on the game from Momoi.
After she informed him that they won, he made a plan with them to drop by your place later to check on you and celebrate later that night after they released you.
The nurse rolled you back in and you were still asleep.
“How did it go?” he nervously asked.
“It was a success! As long as she does everything right, she should get back to volleyball in no time. She should wake up in the next thirty minutes or so. After that, we’ll see how she feels and go through everything that you guys need to do for the next two to three weeks until her check up.You guys should be out of here in another hour.
He nods, “Thank you.”
Just like the nurse said, you woke up thirty minutes later and felt a little groggy. He softly smiled at you, rubbing circles on the back of your hand.
“Hey, baby. How do you feel?”
Your eyes flutter open and you make immediate eye contact with him. “I want to go home, Dai,” you pout.
“I know. We’ll be going home soon. You’ll be back on the court before you know it, too.”
“Really?” you beamed.
He couldn’t help but match his smile to yours. “Yeah, they said it went perfect.”
Later that night, you and Aomine were quietly watching a movie when there was a knock on your door.
You look at him confused as he gets up and walks over to it. “Aomine, who’s here?”
He smiles without answering your question as he opens the door to reveal the team standing there. They all piled into your home, asking if you were okay. Some of them handed you flowers and sweets while others brought movies and games for you to do in your free time.
“What are you guys doing here?” you ask in shock.
“We wanted to make sure that everything went well. Aomine thought it’d be a good idea,” Imayoshi informed you.
Aomine cheeks heated up as he scratched the back of his head. “I figured since you brought us closer as a team, you wouldn’t mind.”
“Not at all. These are moments with you guys that I won’t get often after I start playing volleyball again.”
“Nonsense, the volleyball team and basketball team schedules almost never clash because we only have one gym. The only time it’d be troublesome is during tournament season. Even if you can’t be at most of our games, you can still come to a lot of the practices,” Aomine interjected.
Everyone looked at him with wide eyes. “Why do you know this information?” Momoi asked.
“I wanted to see how much time I was going to get to spend with Y/N once she was released to play.”
“Oh you are so whipped.”
