So I am watching Halloween Kills right now and I'm going to write all my thoughts down on this one post. Obviously spoilers ahead
Wow, I'm glad they immediately brought back Cameron to show what he ended up doing the rest of the night. It's insane to think that after all the events of the 2018 movie that there were still people who didnt know what was going on because it wasnt reported yet.
I'm very surprised that Hawkins made it to the hospital, he must be tough as nails.
I feel so bad for young Hawkins he was in a trolley situation where either he shoots Michael and might kill his partner too, or he doesn't and Michael kills his partner anyways. It took me a lot of thinking to figure out that he could have shot at their legs to break up the struggle, but he had less than a minute to decide. At least his partner died knowing that they had captured Michael.
I'm tickled by the fact that so many surviving victims of Michael gather together every halloween to have drinks. It's good to find people who know what you're going through... though maybe limit the alcohol.
Imagine the call into dispatch: "hello, 911" "hi, theres a fire at the Strode house..." "yes we've already dispatched several fire engines to fight it" "right, you need to call them back" "excuse me?" "Yeah, theres a psycho murderer trapped inside and he has to die. If the fire is put out, he'll escape and likely kill all the fire fighters" "..." "Michael Myers is in there" "I'll call them back right now"
I'm glad they took a moment to process the death of the dad whose name I cant remember. They never mentioned it in the previous movie but Laurie probably mentioned it during the truck ride to the hospital. "Hey sweetie, I'm really sorry to tell you this but Michael murdered your husband/dad when he was breaking into the house"
Washing the tremnling hands, going to a secluded place to cry, trying to see his body in the morgue, so little said but so much said. The coroner looking absolutely exhausted while surrounded by Michael's victims. You never think about the cleanup afterwards, how a flood of murdered dead bodies can make people who see death every day weary.
Lady your husband said that there was an intruder in the house and shouted at you to run, WHY DID YOU STOP TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR??? You had such a long time to get it open and keep running and you just stood there!
So I completely forgot that Lonnie was Cameron's dad. I like how I went from a passing line in the first movie to an important plot point here.
Doctor lady knows the rules of horror movies. Get in your car and you hear something in the back seat? GTFO. She knows what this night is gonna be like.
So theres another prisoner running around Haddonfield? Wtf does this guy want? Steal cars and listen to opera? Now you know he isn't Michael because he can't drive worth a shit. I actually thought, "Michael knew how to drive in the previous movies, why is he fucking up now?"
I love these gay dudes living in the Myers house, making cauttuturie... catchuttury... catturchatty... meat and cheese boards, vibing to vinyl records, and spooking kids with the story of Michael Myers. I'm going to be sad when Michael rips off one or both of their heads.
I'm really glad that Ally set aside her argument with Cameron from earlier that night. Relationship issues come later, stopping a murderer happens now.
Ally is going to be the reason why Laurie lives through this movie. She knows she needs a weapon by her side.
I'm glad that they are forming a mob to track down Michael in this one. I'm hoping it will go better than when the police tried to track down Michael in Halloween II and everyone was wearing the same mask as him. Ben Tramer might survive this time through.
Okay, I want to know what that kid in the skull mask was doing to get killed by Michael. He only kills kids if they're in the way of him getting from point A to B.
Yes. Take the gun away from the nervous man who doesn't know how to use it.
NO. NOT MARION CHAMBERS. DON'T YOU DARE.
AND NOT MALE NURSE. WHERE IS LADY DOCTOR AND HER GUN??? (Also I think a stab wound to the head like this is survivable, theres a chance it could have missed the brain and if it didn't, the frontal lobe can sustain a lot of damage and still function)
NO NOT LADY DOCTOR WHY????
Please be okay Lindsey... please survive this Lindsey... Yeah! Grab his mask! Steal his face! NO KEEP RUNNING, KEEP RUNNING! YOU CAN'T HIDE KEEP RUNNING!
Oh no... Laurie has no idea and Karen doesn't want to tell her. She's going to find out no matter what, but she just got out of surgery and can't leave her bed. She needs to tell the nurses to lock down her room so she can't hear what's going on outside. Once she knows he's still out there she'll want to get up and go fighting again.
Oh god no, no bodies in the car? Wtf are you doing with them, Michael? Putting together some kind of horrifying Halloween decoration?
I ONLY JUST NOTICED THAT CAMERON IS STILL IN HIS BONNIE SKIRT, HE JUST PUT A SWEATSHIRT ON OVER HIS OUTFIT. He actually looks good in a skirt.
LONNIE TAKE YOUR FINGER OFF THAT TRIGGER, YOU ONLY DO THAT WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO SHOOT.
So we got the Halloween 3 pumpkin and skull masks. I guess Marion is the witch? Oh dear, yes she is.
Yeah... just talk to Frank. Dont look out the windows and keep talking to Frank. NURSE DONT YOU DARE MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT MICHAEL. PUT A SIGN ON THE DOOR THAT SAYS "DO NOT MENTION MICHAEL MYERS".
Oh Brackett... oh Oscar's mom... oh all the loved ones of the victims... this is going to be a tough night.
Tommy: we will fucking kill Michael Myers tonight!
Black Police Officer: um... you cant just kill someone...
Sheriff Brackett: KILL MYERS!
GOD DAMN IT TOMMY, IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SECRET!
Yeah, I know you want to protect her like she protected you, but now she's trying to get out of bed right after having surgery!
Oh Laurie... I know the system failed you, and I know you need to protect your family... but you won't get far without ripping out the staples keeping your organs inside your body. Just set up a dummy in your bed and find a good place to sit and hide, it worked in another universe.
Since when do you knock, Michael?
NO BIG JOHN RUN. LITTLE JOHN RUN. THOSE KNIVES WILL DO NOTHING. RUN AND LIVE TO SEE ANOTHER HALLOWEEN.
God damn it you always lock the door!!! I dont care if its Haddonfield or Bumfuck Kentucky, you always lock your door! Especially if its night!
Oh, it's that other mental patient who escaped. Oh. And people think hes Michael because hes in his hospital outfit. You would think the Strode ladies would be able to tell that the man is way too short and stocky to be Michael. He was even talking.
Big John this is all your fault, if you had just run out the door with Little John, Michael Myers wouldnt be gouging out your eyes right now. But noooo, you had to be the big man and search the house.
LITTLE JOHN YOU HAVE A STRAIGHT SHOT DOWN THE STAIRS TO EITHER DOOR AND YOU DECIDE TO JUST STAND THERE. MICHAEL DIDNT EVEN IMMEDIATELY HEAR YOU, YOU HAD TIME TO RUN.
Well, at least the Strode women are trying to stop them now, but Laurie got ripped right open.
God damn it, now there's an angry mob in the hospital. I hope this patient guy isnt a violent offender.
God fucking damn it, that mans blood is on your hands, Tommy! He was a mentally ill man just looking for help and you riled up the mob into chashing him! Brackett is right, you guys are monsters too.
Hawkins, you shooting your partner was an accident too. You were trying to save him from Michael but Michael used him as a shield. You took the chance where if you got a good shot, he could have lived. Had you not shot at all, he would have died anyways.
There was no point in getting everyone at the hospital riled up, they weren't planning on leaving to go search and none of them had weapons to take down Myers if he showed up. The best thing he could have done was get a description of Myers from Karen and then make signs describing him and telling people to either run if unarmed or shoot if they're armed. "Super tall man in dirty white mask and coveralls" is fairly unique, even on Halloween.
What, weren't the cops at the Myers house earlier? Taking photos of the John killings? Wouldnt there be tons of 'do not cross' tape and signs everywhere?
Dont get distracted by the dead bodies, pick up your gun and help Cameron search the rest of the house- NO CAMERON RUN
Holy shit, Ally got a few stabs at Michael! But it's a little late to start taunting him now. Cameron's neck is in many, many pieces.
ALLYSON!!
KAREN
KAREN YOU MOTHERFUCKING BADASS WITH THE PITCHFORK
KAREN THERE BETTER BE POLICE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER.
Yes, angry mob, all go for him at once! He's good at one on one or one on two combat, but he can't do one on at least a dozen.
Oh come on! You had him on the ropes! He was down! Just a few more bullets to his skull and some dismemberment and he would have been dead!
And now Tommy is dead. And Brackett.
KAREN NO
NO KAREN
GOD DAMN IT
You go fuck him up, Laurie

2018, Haddonfield, Illinois
Travesty broke through the town of Haddonfield again. It appeared that nothing could kill the man named Michael Myers. Yet man seemed like an oversimplification. Someone who could take hit after hit. That wasn’t a man, he was the eternal of evil, and he was wreaking havoc on Halloween night again.
And what better way than for you to spend your Halloween. Slumping it with a nice cold beer at Mic’s Bar. Watching the oh so talent your neighbors and friends possess. You raised your beer to the previous girl group who finished up. Applause rumbled up the bar. You took another sip of your beer then checked your phone. No messages from Buck yet. He usually checked up at this hour of the night, but you wouldn’t hold it against him. His job required his full attention. “Another round Y/n?” The bartender caught your attention. You sighed and put your phone down.
“Keep them coming!”
“Ladies and gentleman, I’d like to introduce our next Thespian, now I used to bust this guy’s balls when we were kids, but he is all grown up now, and he’s become the most captivating…bird whistler.” Lonnie Elam ran off stage and then walked on, Tommy Doyle.
“Hey everybody.”
You turn around on the stool and rest your back against the counter. If you were gonna stay here, then you were gonna enjoy the most of it.
“Uhh Lonnie put me up to this shit.” Tommy adjusted the mic stand to his liking. “I’m not gonna whistle for ya…instead I’m gonna tell you a story.”
“Ghost and Goblins!”
You chuckled at the girl who shouted out. That got everyone to laugh.
“Any of you know the story about Haddonfield’s Boogeyman?” When he got no reply he continued. “Too young to give a shit, too drunk to remember?”
It was silent. Yet he kept going.
“Forty years ago, a madman escaped from a mental hospital. It was the night before Halloween and three teenage girls were walking home from Haddonfield High. They had sightings of…a ghost-like figure creeping right through our town. A man in a white mask, or was it more than a man…” A shiver ran down your spine as you pulled down your long sleeve shirt. “He was watching them. Before the night was over, three people would be murdered. And the house next door, there was a babysitter, and a young boy and a young girl, and they were brutally attacked by this stalker. Who had a power, beyond any mortal man.” Whispers and chatter arose amongst everyone. “My name is Tommy Doyle…and I was that young boy.” Gasp of disbelief could be heard in the crowd. “So please join me in commemorating the victims and the survivors of Michael Myers.” You brought your hands together to clap along with everyone. It was touching. “Now we have the lovely Miss Lindsey Wallace, her babysitter Amy Brackett was executed that night. Now we have Miss Marion Chambers, she survived an assault. We have Lonnie Elam.” Tommy took the big spotlight and shined it down on each three of them. “Lonnie survived a face to face encounter.” Your eyes grew big. Your parents and friends always told you it was a myth. You were one of those “I gotta see it to believe it” types. Safe to say you’ve never encountered Michael Myers. Not really sure what you’d do or how’d you react if you did, but hearing other people survive him, it scared you half to death.
Yet you wouldn’t know that the only reason they survived was because they were children at the time, and Michael Myers never killed children.
“It’s Halloween night in Haddonfield, when terror is supposed to be fun…” Tommy stared into the crowd. “When we hide behind masks, and we pretend we aren’t who we are. Is he real…who knows? Who’s next? Maybe not tonight, maybe not tomorrow, but the Boogeyman is coming for me, and he’s coming for you, but he’s not gonna get us. Not this time! Because we will never succumb to fear. This is for your Laurie! Wherever you are!”
You grabbed your drink and raised it up in salute to this Laurie chick. You gulped down the rest of your drink and asked Brian for another one. “Brian can I have one more?” You raised your pointer finger.
“That makes three now…and you drove here right?” He asked you.
“Mhmm.”
He scoffed and came back with-
“Water? I asked for a beer…”
“And I need a raise for taking care of you careless drinkers, but you know what…”
“What?” You laughed rolling your eyes.
“Life’s a bitch like that.” You pouted and traced the rim of the glass. “Drink your water!” He gestured to the glass in front of you.
“Alright, alright.”
-
“Copy that. Utilities are being shut down!”
Buck slammed his shoulder into a door of the house looking around and calling out for any survivors.
“We got a gas fed fire in here!” Buck spoke into his walkie.
His partner that was with him gestured to him to continue moving forward. “Ten-four. Stand by!”
“Copy!” Buck dragged the heavy hose then released the water. Hoping to reduce the amount of fire that was spreading like crazy.
“Assignment complete! Utilities are disengaged.”
“Copy! Eyes on the roof. Watch out.” Buck warned as some of the wood from the floor was starting to break. “With me!”
“Command ladder 13, do you copy?”
As he kept walking further into the house the radio chatter became indistinctive. He was worried he was missing something.
“This is Buck with Engine 118, I didn’t quite catch that!”
Nothing could be heard but the loud crashing that came from behind him. He whipped around and walked closer to the edge.
“Mayday, mayday, mayday, we have a firefighter down. There’s been a structural collapse. We have a firefighter that fell through. I repeat we have a firefighter down, over!” He peered down. “Brenton you okay?”
“M-My air supply is busted.” He then pulled his emergency alert button on his portable radio.
“Radio silence, we have a mayday alert!”
“I’m gonna get you out of there, okay? Just hang tight alright.” Buck called out to him. Brenton called out to his radio. “This is Brenton with Engine 8. There’s been a structural collapse. M-My air supply is compromised. PASS alarm has been activated…Oh shit!” Brenton’s eyes widened as he saw a masked figure standing not more than a few feet away from where he lay.
“Come in, Engine 13, Engine 118.”
“There’s somebody else down here!” Brentom exclaimed as the man walked over to him. He was then kicked in the face making him head his head against the ground.
“Brenton!” Buck watched with wide eyes as the man started beating the shit out of him. “Do you copy?”
Brenton felt his world stop as finally realized who hovered over him. It was Michael Myers. He cried out as he saw the pick ax being raised. “Buck run!”
“No!” Buck cried out for the man, but stumbled back as Michael turned around to look up at him. Buck didn’t think for a second to get the hell out of there.
-
It had been some time late in the evening when every phone in that damn bar started going off and chimming.
“Oh my god!” Marion gasped. “Tommy look, hey turn it up!”
Brian turned the Tv on, and what popped up on the screen had turned out to be your worst nightmare yet.
“…at the service station earlier today. This evening four bodies were discovered in three homes along the same residential street. Residents of North Haddonfield are on high alert. Officials are investigating.” The newsported announced. The man followed up with a report about a house fire, but what was said about a huge massacre of firefighters made your heart plummet to your feet.
“Hey isn’t Buck on that call?” Brian pointed out to you.
Your glass shattered to the floor as you stood up grabbing your coat and keys. “Oh my god!” You felt like you were gonna throw up.
“Hey it’s not safe out there.” The man Tommy called after you. “Y/n!”
“It’s not safe anywhere!” You pushed your way through people to get to the door.
“Y/n, be careful!” Brian called out after you.
-
“Got a goddamn massacre on our hands.” Sheriff Baker stood up from peering inside of the car with a decapitated head inside. “Graham.”
“Yes sir!”
“Establish a perimeter.”
“Copy that!”
Sheriff Bakker walked around the car to fully inspect the blood shed before him. Firefighters dropped dead on the lawn. Heads bashed into, you could hardly even recognize them anymore. “Motherfucker!”
When you got to the location you had quickly put the car in park. The car rolled a centimeter as you got out. You looked at all the chaos, mostly seeing officers, and…
“S-Sheriff Barker!” You ducked under the ‘do not cross’ tape line and ran towards the tragic scene before you.
“Attention, all responders. Be advised we have a violent criminal at large, armed and dangerous.” Graham spoke into his megaphone. “We will deploy all units of frontline and tactical officers to search the area. This fugitive is on foot…and his name is Michael Myers!”
You stumbled back seeing the mess Michael left behind. All what once was the boogeyman used to scare children to go sleep or eat their veggies was now a reality. None of the firefighters were spared, and if that were the truth then that meant….You were pulled out of your daze feeling hands lightly push you away from the scene.
“Y/n, I’m gonna need you to step back, you can’t be here right now.”
“Is my fiance here? I need to know if Buck’s here?” You brushed past him trying to look for him.
“Y/n please-”
“H-Has anyone seen Evan Buckley? First responder Evan Buckley! He’s with Engine 118. Please, has anyone seen my fiancé!” You frantically looked around, shouting and trying to get the attention of any of the officers around you. Your breathing was growing uneven with every swivel of a turn and whip of your head you did.
“Evan!” You cupped your mouth glancing over at the dead first responders. “Oh g-god…” You almost threw up at the scene. Dead wasn’t even the correct term to describe the horrid scene before you. You didn’t even want to imagine that Evan could be amongst the bodies. “Evan!” You shouted out again. “Evan-“
“Y-Y/n?”
You turned around and let out a broken sob. There he was. He wasn’t dead, he wasn’t dead. You kept repeating to yourself. The love of your life wasn’t dead. You ran over to him. When you reached him, you didn’t know how to grab him, whether or not to tighten your grip on him or wrap your legs around him like your life depended on it. You didn’t know. You pulled him in close. Your hand curling around the back of his head of hair. His face falling into the crook of your neck.
“Oh my god!” You thanked whoever the hell was listening to you. “I thought you were dead. I thought he killed you. A-Are you hurt?” You examined him for any injuries. Buck shook his head no.
“I’m okay, I promise. I hid in the woods as soon as he killed the captain.” He whimpered into your neck. “I-I didn’t do anything, I didn’t help anyone. I just ran like a coward…” It was your turn to shake your head.
“No, Evan no. You’re human okay, those were just your instincts kicking in. I think anyone would have ran. But if I’m thinking selfishly…” A tear fell down your cheek. “I’m glad you did, I’m glad you didn’t stay rooted to one place.” You nodded furiously. “I’m glad you’re right here in front of me. I’m so glad!”
“I was scared.” He shook his head sitting at the back of the ambulance. “I couldn’t breathe, and then he came out of the burning house…picking us off one by one. I didn’t think I was going to see you again.” You reached forward and cupped his face. He looked exhausted. You turned your hand and placed the back of it against his forehead. He was sweaty and warm.
“Let’s go home.” Buck sighed his head falling forward against your chest. “Please.”
“W-We can’t.” Your voice cracked. “He’s still out there.” You were trying to stay calm for you and for him. Yet your heart that was practically beating out your chest told you otherwise.
“Five years.” Buck said out of the blue. He scoffed then chuckled, shaking his head.
“What?”
“I’ve never seen him in Haddonfield for five years. Each year on Halloween for five years, he’s shown up and killed people.” He looked down at his lap. “You don’t really start believing the stories they tell you until you see the blood and the bodies on the ground and when you finally do. You start realizing there’s a pattern. One after the other, bodies start dropping, people go missing from a party….and there’s nothing you can do. I’m supposed to save people, but lately…there hasn’t been a whole lot of that.” A tear fell down his head.
“You’re not invincible, Evan Buckley.” You half-heartedly laughed as you caressed his birthmark on his left eye. “A firefighter, yes, but you act like you have more than nine lives. You can’t keep over exerting yourself because one day you’re gonna push too far, and something is gonna shove back. I’m scared of what that day will feel like. I am. I adore how much you love this job, and I love you for being the caring and loving person you are.”
“But?” He looked up at you, frowning a bit.
“I can’t stop you from running into a burning building…I knew the minute that I met you what I was signing up for. I can’t stop you, but I can tell you I can’t bear to lose you. You’re too important to me.” You pressed your head against his.
“I can’t lose you either.” He turned his head and pressed his lips against yours. You placed your hands on his cheeks trying to cherish the moment while it lasted since tonight was still going on, and Michael was on a killing spree. “We can’t stay here, we have to go somewhere safe.”
“Where else would we even go?” You looked back at the blood bash. Covers being draped over the dead firefighters. You shivered and focused on Buck’s touch.
Buck stopped for a second and thought about it. Then it looked like a lightbulb went off inside his head.
“There’s always the fire station. He’s never really gone there over the time I’ve lived here. We can try there.”
“As long as I don’t look like them…I’m all in.”
“Nothing’s gonna happen to you, not on my watch okay?”
“I trust you.” You nodded and took his hand. He got up and you guys walked over to your car.

Crushing
Tumblr media
The reader is 18. Just having a crush on Lonnie, Cameron's dad.
"Your dad's hot". You bluntly said while Cameron, Allyson, Oscar and you walked home from school. Didnt know how it got to the discussion about hot parents but you were letting them know you found Lonnie Elam sexy.
"Ew. That's disgusting. Why would you say that"? Cameron scrunched up his nose, throwing his hands up dramatically.
"Because its the truth. Lonnie Elam is sexy and he's definitely a daddy". You purred with a smirk to your lips.
"Oh my god! Stop! I'm going to throw up". Cameron exclaimed holding his stomach. You and Allyson giggled.
"You know I love teasing you. You're so easy". You playfully pushed Cameron.
"So you're joking about liking my dad? MY DAD, MINE". Cameron pointed to his chest.
"Oh no. That's true. I would ride that man like a ferris wheel. Up and down and all around. Damn, he is fine". You growled. Allyson busted out laughing, along with Oscar. Cameron stopped dead in his tracks.
"You're like twelve and my dads like a hundred".
"I'm eighteen. I'm legal but still can fit into my ex catholic school girl outfit. I bet he's got a thing for that". You teased Cameron, slightly bending over and shaking your butt. He quickly covered his eyes with his hand.
"But you're not catholic". Oscar said confused.
"I know. But Cameron here is about to have an aneurism and I find it hilarious".
"Right". Oscar nodded, still not getting the joke.
"You better cut it out. He does look like he might blow a fuse". Allyson wrapped her arm around her boyfriend.
"Oh, is Cammy Wammy going to blow a fusey woozy all because his friend is a slut for his daddy waddy"? You laugh as you talk baby gibberish to Cameron. Allyson and Oscar snicker.
"Shut! up!". Cameron scoffed, jogging away from us.
"You better cool it. He's going to have a cow".
"I know. But what can I say, I love teasing him". You wrap your arm around Allysons and walk to Cameron's house.
"Oh looky who's here"? You lick your lips as you see Mr. Elam in the drive way.
"Behave". Allyson warns you.
"For him? Never". You skipped to Mr. Elam. "Hi Mr. Elam. How are you today"?
Lonnie chuckled. "I'm fine. How are you, Y/N"?
Yes you are. You thought in your head.
"I'm great now, Mr. Elam". You flash a big smile.
"Please call me Lonnie".
"Can I call you daddy instead"? You bit your lip with a moan. Allyson was the only one to hear you.
"Stop". She shook her head.
"What"? You play innocent.
"Okay, it's time for you to go home now". Cameron pushed you along. He wanted to get you far away from his dad quickly.
"Fine. Jeez, dont have a cow. Bye Lonnie. Have a great night. Sleep tight". You wave as you're walking along. "Dream about me". Allyson tried her best to turn you around.
Lonnie waved. "What is up with her"? He asked his son.
"Nothing. Just stay away from her. She's crazy". Cameron huffed, starting to go in his house.
"She's got a crush on me doesnt she"?
"How did you know"?
"I had the same crush on my friends mom".
"How'd that go for you"?
"We dated a few years. We didnt tell anyone. Just had our fun. Our little secret". Lonnie patted Cameron's shoulder as he went past him into the house.
"Oh god. I'm not calling her mom. I'm not doing that". Cameron groaned thinking if his dad and you got together. Lonnie chuckled.
It was just a harmless little crush.....or was it?

Halloween Kills Review
I enjoyed this movie a lot !!! It’s my first watching a Halloween movie in theaters !!!
The flashback to the first movie and to see the characters from the old movies all grown up and with families of their own. It’s been 40 years since the events of the first movie. Laurie Strode and her family were amazing. Michael Myers was awesome and brutal in this movie. The boogeyman is unstoppable !!!
I also enjoyed that the people of Haddonfield joined forces wanting to end Michael Myers on Halloween night.
This movie gave me vibes of the first two Halloween movies !!!
I give this movie 10/10

Reversing the Role. Cameron Elam in Halloween Kills.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
Finally, after having waited three years for the release of Halloween Kills (H. Kills), I obviously went last Thursday with a couple of friends to see the it on it’s release date, and in between all the glorious violence at the hands of Michael, one of the deaths caught my attention not only for the brutality of it but because of it’s visual and sonorous elements. It is then that in the subsequent words I propose a brief analysis of Cameron Elam.
Though when we are introduced to Cameron in 2018’s Halloween (H. 18) in the halls of Haddonfield High with him wearing regular teenage boy clothes, it’s his and Allyson’s Halloween disguises where the lines of his role are beginning to truly being drawn.
As part of a couple’s costume, he and Laurie’s granddaughter decide to do a genderbent version of Bonnie and Clyde, leaving her in traditionally male clothes that might represent the necessary masculinization of the Final Girl (FG) that according to texts like Carol Clover’s “Her body, himself” (1987), allows a mostly a male audience to identify with a female protagonist; nevertheless—and putting the issues that arise from this perspective aside—it’s the significance of Cameron in in a skirt, sweater, beret and heels that caught my attention as his character develops until his death in H. Kills.
Before going forward with my rambling, it’s important to address the fact that I might very well be over analyzing a choice that might had only had Allyson’s needs as a FG in the movie after the High School dance; yet, thought we can’t be 100% certain of what the intentions of the costume department was the moment they made the decision of putting him in a skirt—while Allyson wore pants and flat shoes, I think we can at least acknowledge said choice as a conscious decision given the fact that they could’ve worn other outfits that allowed them both to be in comfortable clothing, but instead, Cameron sported clothes that are usually interpreted as female.
Now skipping to his first scene in H. Kills, Cameron can be seen walking through the streets of Haddonfield—presumably towards his home—calling his friend Oscar that unveknownst to him has been murdered by Michael in H.18, with his kitten heels on one hand and seemingly a bit drunk from the alcohol he illegally consumed on the party, we see a scene very reminiscing of what is usually referred to “the walk of shame” that follows a sexual encounter that usually has no emotional connection and that in this case is represented by the fact that he kissed a girl that wasn’t his girlfriend in the couple of minutes it took Allyson to talk to her friend in the previous entry of the franchise.
Tumblr media
It is in the midst of the failed phone call that Cameron finds officer Hawkins laying on the street after being stabbed and ran over by Dr. Sartain in H.18, leading the teenager to help him and to acquire the knowledge that Michael Myers is once more roaming the streets of their small town on a Halloween night. It is in this change of scenes, as he puts on a hoodie between him finding Hawkins, and the ambulance and his own father Lonnie arriving to the scene to take the officer to the hospital that we see an important change on Cameron’s outfit that signals two layers of this character: the first one being the façade we are supposed to believe and the real Cameron in relation to the part he plays within the narrative of the film.

As the film progresses, Cameron and Allyson join his father—now being friends with Tommy, Lindsey and Marion—the other survivors of Michael’s attack all the way back in 1978, in the search for the Boogeyman with the intention of finally putting a stop to him; yet as they separate to cover more ground, Cameron, his father and Allyson end up in the Myers’s home. It’s here, after they and we as the audience hear a gunshot that the your couple enter the house trying to aid Lonnie that Cameron’s final sequence begins.
Let’s remember before going forward that after having helped Hawkins, Cameron now has a hoodie on and changed his heels for a pair of sneakers, yet, he still has the skirt on, a piece that has been partially concealed by shots where he appears from the waist up but that now, as Allyson and him roam the house in search of his father, is once more exposed to us, as if to remind us he’s to be one more victim to Michael’s body count.
As such, he’s attacked by Michael as he looks up to see the mangled body of his father after having felt his blood trickling down onto Cameron’s own face, making him scream and though it’s not something exclusive of female characters, the title of Scream Queen does reminds us the characteristic wails of terror of women in horror films. As Kaja Silverman’s explains in her studies of female voice and sound in film, as female characters tend to use crying or screaming to accompany the visual elements, giving them the part of something akin to setting the mood by not really having an active role in the development to the plot, because—like Silverman explains, women are more like children than adults (Silverman, 1990), specially in the sub genre that is of importance to in this text.
Going back a few scenes, from the first moments Cameron is on screen, he can be seen (and heard) following this pattern as, after finding Hawkins, Cameron resorts to screaming for help as he tries to help him not really knowing what to do.
It’s relevant to note as well Allyson’s actions in this scene as she’s the one that—although futile in the end—tries to save Cameron opposed to the other way around, for although it’s clear she’s acting as another FG to this series, it’s not uncommon to see a male secondary character helping the leading woman, yet there’s no aid from Cameron to Allyson here, making him a passive entity more comparable to the common female victim.
And although this scene can be read as the female character helping the male one and therefore giving representation to female empowerment, it’s interesting to remember that Cameron in a way seems to be female coded, as the skirt he’s using is an element with a heavy history of being linked with femininity and certain characteristics like fragility and helplessness (Entwistle, 2002), and though gender norms have always been questioned and defied by some groups of society (I.e. alternative fashion) I think that today there’s still such a strong connection between sex and gender that it helps maintain the relation that some type of clothes have with some identity-forming characteristics of the person—or in this case character wearing them, which would give sense to the way Cameron is dress in relation to his performance.
Even the brutality of the kill seems like a nod to the violence that is usually used against women in Slasher films, that according to some statistics, have twice as long persecutions than men and more graphic deaths (Sapolsky, Molitor and Luque, 2003).
That being said, and before this analysis final words, I just want to say I thoroughly enjoyed Halloween Kills and what seems to be being done with the franchise. Nevertheless, though female agency seems to have a big role in the David Gordon Green’s Halloween trilogy, as they seemed to use Cameron to mock some of the rules that up until recently have plagued Slasher films (ie. the killing of female victims that contradict what’s expected with traditional femininity), I feel like they still seem to be punishing femininity for existing as they now transfer values that are attached to the female gender to a male body, not understanding that gender and sex are not the same thing and therefore still end up perpetuating negative stereotypes. Furthermore, some may say H. Kills is not only acting against Cameron’s shitty behavior in the previous film but also in opposition to alternative masculinities that don’t align with the protector and tough persona, and though I don’t agree with this second hypothesis, I think it serves to highlight the importance of communication through fashion in cinema.

New Release Review: Halloween Kills
Tumblr media
Halloween Kills is a solid slasher movie. It boasts unflinchingly brutal kills with a variety of weapons - ranging from a Halligan bar to a tube lightbulb - racking up Michael Myers' highest on-screen body count in franchise history (around 25, by my estimation). But that's not all I look for in a Halloween movie. John Carpenter set an impossibly high bar with his genre-defining original in 1978, but 2018's confusingly-titled Halloween did an admirable job in assuming the mantle. In that regard, Halloween Kills is a middling entry in the storied franchise.
Halloween 2018 director David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express) returns for the second entry in his trilogy with co-writer Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down). This time around, Scott Teems collaborated with them on the screenplay. With the previous film, Green and McBride made the divisive choice to ignore the conflicting timelines of all previous sequels and make a direct follow-up to the original; a logical decision to reset the mythology and start clean. Halloween Kills muddles their own efforts by hinting at an explanation for Myers' evil - something the franchise has tried and failed to do several times over.
Tumblr media
A flashback to 1978 was originally written in the previous movie before being cut, per Carpenter's suggestion, but it makes an extended appearance at the beginning of Halloween Kills. Green and company impressively replicate the aesthetic, although it's a largely unnecessary detour that detracts from the mystique of the original Halloween ending. The film then returns to Halloween night in 2018 for more mayhem immediately following the events of the previous film. Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney) comes out swinging - literally, making quick work of half a dozen firefighters on his way out of the burning house.
Four returning characters from the original film - Tommy Doyle (Anthony Michael Hall, The Breakfast Club), Lindsey ("Real Housewife" Kyle Richards, who originated the role), Marion Chambers (Nancy Stephens, reprising the role), and Lonnie Elam (Robert Longstreet, Midnight Mass) - are re-introduced in an egregiously obtuse manner. (The other familiar face, Leigh Brackett (Charles Cyphers) is thankfully spared from such a display.) Despite a valiant attempt at a clever transition, their scene lessens the impact of Laurie Strode's (Jamie Lee Curtis, again returning to her iconic debut role) first appearance.
Tumblr media
Laurie, accompanied by her daughter Karen (Judy Greer, Jurassic World) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak), is admitted to Haddonfield Memorial Hospital to tend to the near-fatal wounds she suffered when she went toe-to-toe with the boogeyman. Several other key players from the previous film return as well, including Allyson's boyfriend Cameron (Dylan Arnold), still rocking a skirt from their gender-bending Bonnie and Clyde couples costume. Abandoned in Halloween 2018's third act after ditching Allyson, he's determined to redeem himself this time around.
With the system having failed them yet again, Tommy takes charge and leads the residents of Haddonfield to take justice into their own hands, not unlike the lynch mob angle previously explored in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. They adopt the trite rally cry of "Evil dies tonight" as they hunt down The Shape. Emotion trumps logic, making it easy to draw parallels to the actions of a certain disgraced ex-President's sycophants. It's not a bad plot point, but the heavy-handedness leaves something to be desired.
Tumblr media
Clocking in at 105 minutes, Halloween Kills moves at a good clip, but the story is aimless. Case in point: the entirely gratuitous subplot involving another escaped psychiatric patient. The script offers sporadic moments of levity, similar to the previous film (although no one is as innately funny as Toby Huss or Jibrail Nantambu), which work for the most part. But one of the film's biggest faults is the abundance of "hero" lines, which are seemingly tailor-made for trailer moments yet play as painfully unnatural in the context of the movie.
A slew of new actors join the fold - the standouts being Michael McDonald (Mad TV) and Scott MacArthur (The Mick) as a couple who live in the Myers house - but the vast majority are underdeveloped roles that serve only to increase the body count. That's par for the course in most slasher movies, but the audience should be given the chance to invest in them so their deaths resonate. With so much time dedicated to ancillary characters, the three generations of Strode women - the foundation on which the previous film was built - aren't given enough time to shine.
Tumblr media
That said, Curtis - the pathos of the franchise - and Greer - whose character is still grieving her husband - each get a couple of strong, emotional moments. Hall, despite being given some corny material, also delivers a strong performance. Longstreet brings such conviction to his role, often stealing scenes from more established characters. It's fun to see Richards, Stephens, and Cyphers return to the fold after four decades, although their inclusion is ultimately superfluous. Keep an eye out for a blink-and-you-miss-it photo cameo of Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul).
Courtney yet again perfectly embodies pure evil as The Shape. He shares credit with Nick Castle, who originated the part, though it was likely a brief cameo similar to Halloween 2018. Stunt performer Airon Armstrong (The Dark Knight Rises) dons the mask - a near-flawless reproduction of the expressionless visage - in the flashback, and he nails The Shape's robotic movements. Tom Jones Jr. (Joe) is a shockingly convincing double for Donald Pleasence as Dr. Loomis, but his voice - provided by Colin Mahan (as he did in the previous film) - is less so.
Tumblr media
Halloween Kills features several homages to the original film, plus the Halloween III: Season of the Witch masks get more screen time, but for the most part the references are less distracting than those in Halloween 2018. Michael Simmonds returns as director of photography, and though there are moments that harken back to Dean Cundey's beautiful anamorphic cinematography from Halloween, the camerawork and lighting are overall less elegant this time around.
The special effects, headed by Christopher Allen Nelson (Halloween 2018, Fear Street), are top-notch. The carnage is convincing, and Michael's burned mask looks menacing. The score - composed by Carpenter, his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies - is a dynamic continuation of their work on Halloween 2018, while the 1978 sequence recycles some of Carpenter's classic Halloween cues.
Tumblr media
Perhaps Halloween Ends' conclusion to the trilogy will retroactively bolster Halloween Kills' impact, but as a standalone picture it's inefficient. While Green is surely building up to what is presumed to be the final showdown between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers in the next movie, Laurie's character arch is needlessly paused in favor of other Haddonfield residents. It's far from the worst entry in the franchise, offering at least a couple good sequences of genuine suspense, but it had the potential to be so much more.
Halloween Kills will be released in theaters and on Peacock on October 15.

HALLOWEEN KILLS- 2021 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Tumblr media
Halloween Kills picks up on the same night immediately after the events of Halloween 2018. We see Cameron finds Hawkins body, he is still alive but badly hurt after being stabbed by Dr Sartain. Hawkins was one of my favourite characters from the last one so was very happy to see he was still alive. He tells Cameron he is the one that needs to kill Michael and we cut to the most beautiful flashback scene ive ever seen in anything. Seriously the flashback scenes alone get this movie 5 stars. They add well to there own mythology of what happened in the 1978 classic, but the way it was filmed is absolutely breathtaking. It looked so real and authentic you would think it was in the original movie. From the music, to the blue tint in lighting, it was perfect. In the flashback we see a young Hawkins and his partner patrolling the streets looking for Michael. I was surprised and delighted to see his partner was played by Jim Cummings. Cameo of the seasons.
Tumblr media
Michael attacks and strangles Jim with rope. An interesting touch as we hear in the original Michael has stolen rope from a hardware store. Hawkins is terrified and panics and shoots his partner. I then couldnt believe my eyes as Dr Loomis entered the house. I thought this was cgi but turns out was actually all practical makeup effects put on a lookalike, which is extremely impressive.
Tumblr media
Was incredible to see Loomis back one more time, an excellent tribute to Donald Pleasance. Outside the Myers house is Michael is completely surrounded by police, he is subdued and Loomis is about to shoot him in the head, when Hawkins stops him. Other flashbacks we see involve Lonnie Elam encountering the shape in 1978. Throughout all the flashbacks, its amazing how perfect Michael looks.
Tumblr media
After the flashback we see Laurie, Karen and Allyson on there way to hospital and firetrucks on theyre way to the house. One of the firemen falls through the floor, Michael kills him and grabs the hand of another to escape. Out in front of the house, he absolutely destroys a group of around ten firemen. The scene is so badass and sets Michael up to be even stronger than he was in the last one. The mask is fantastic, classic mask from the last one with added burn damage from the fire.
In a bar in Haddonfield, several survivors of the original meet and drink and tell stories from that night. Tommy Doyle is played by Anthony Michael Hall. Nancy Stephens returns to play Marion Chambers and Kyle Richards returns to play Lindsey Wallace. In the bar they find out Michael has escaped and is on a killing spree. Along with lots of other bar patrons and towns people, they form a posse to to try and kill Myers. Now it was great to see Marion and Lindsey back, but the part of the movie involving the mob was my least favourite. A lot of there dialogue was a bit off.
"Evil dies tonight"
Its hard too imagine anyone saying this once let alone multiple times.
I was very disappointed Paul Rudd wasnt available to reprise his role of Tommy Doyle. He wasnt bad but i didnt find this version of Tommy particularly interesting.
The kills throughout the movie were insane. Michael kills kids trick or treating, lots of the mob, big john and little john, the list goes on. Have heard people complain that Laurie doesnt do enough in the movie and the movie doesnt have a main character. MICHAEL IS THE MAIN CHARACTER. And Laurie was just stabbed in the gut, it makes sense she would be recovering and doing more. Michaels motive is often discussed, this movie seems to be saying his main obsession is going home. He likes staring out his sisters bedroom window and always wants to get back there. Laurie thinks killing her is his obsession. Hawkins says it isnt and it was Sartain that drove brought them together.
Tumblr media
Cameron, Lonnie and Allyson go to the Myers house. Allyson wants revenge for Michael killing her dad and all her friends. Lonnie goes in first and is killed off camera. Camerons death is absolutely brutal, he is first stabbed then has his head smashed through the stairs. Allyson attempts to distract Michael as Cameron is still alive. Michael follows her but stops and twists Camerons head all the way around. The trailer kind of gives Camerons death away unfortunately. I may try and avoid the trailer for Halloween Ends.
Tumblr media
Karen distracts Michael and leads him into the mob of armed townspeople including Tommy Doyle and Sherriff Bracket, played by a returning Charles Cyphers. Sherriff Bracket says his classic line about everyone being entitled to one good scare. Youd think id love this but didnt fit at all.
The gang shoot Michael miltiple times and hit him with bats. When he is down on the ground, Karen stabs him in the neck and leaves to check on Allyson. We then see a montage of Laurie talking about Michael, how he is the essence of evil and the more he kills the more he transcends. She says he cant be killed by blunt force. We see Sherriff Bracket about to finally get revenge for Michael killing Annie. As he is about to shoot Michael, Michael grabs his knife suddenyly and slits his throat. He then kills everyone in the mob including Tommy Doyle! Very cool moment when Tommy looks in his eyes as hes dying. In halloween 2018, Michaels wounds could realistically, possibly have been survived. Halloween Kills seems to have made him full on supernatural. Karen is upstairs in Judiths old room when Michael appears behind her and brutally kills her. This was a huge shock to me, i thought he would kill the mob and disappear. In a way he had to kill her though, it seemed one of the strodes would die in this and it wasnt going to be Allyson or Laurie. Allyson is an excellent horror heroine and does great in this movie. The death of Karen will make the inevitable final showdown between Laurie and Michael more important. Is extremely rare to see a horror movie like this end with the villian standing tall, but was very refreshing and makes sense for the middle part of a trilogy. Reviews for Halloween Kills seem to be mixed, think some people that didnt like it are being too dramatic, seen several people say it was the worst Halloween movie ever, if you think its worse than Reserection you need your head checked. Although it definetly wasnt on the same level as Halloween 2018, there was so much that i enjoyed.
Finally, would like to give props to James Jude Courtney, the MVP. He is now without a doubt my favourite actor to play Michael Myers. The walk and the subtle movements are absolutely perfect.

Halloween kills 2021 review
Tumblr media
Director - David Gordon green
Studio - Blum house pictures
Spoilers below!
I was quite nervous going into this film after seeing the critics tear it to shreds and also being a massive fan of HALLOWEEN 2018, I was worried that this film wasn’t going to live up to expectations and instead ruin the new timeline 2018’s Halloween set up. But boy was I wrong. This movie was awesome! It was fun, it’s was violent and it was scary.
This film picks up a mere moment after 2018’s credits roll but before we find out what happens to Laurie and her family we go back to Halloween night 1978 and see how Michael was captured after killing Lauries friends. We get to see the old myers house looking exactly the same as it did in 1978’s Halloween and I was really impressed at the detail this film took in recreating the look and feel of 1978’s Halloween. Even going as far as using the original score in the flashbacks. The attention to detail making sure the film remains faithful to the original material is flawless. Any fan of John carpenters 1978 Classic will be pleasantly surprised! We even get a cameo from Dr Sam Loomis himself! This was very well done and the decision to use face prosthetics over cgi worked so much better! So after the flash back ends we see Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and Allyson (Andi Matichak) on the back of the truck. They have just trapped Michael in Lauries burning house and are on their way to the hospital. But just as they think they are in the clear they see the fire brigade on their way to put the fire out and that unfolds into one of the biggest slaughters haddonfield has ever seen. They unintentionally rescue Michael and he resumes his killing spree.
Tumblr media
So this movie introduces a lot of legacy characters from the original 1978 Halloween. We are introduced to Lindsey Wallace (Kyle Richards) who reprises her role from 1978. Tommy Doyle (Anthony Michael hall) Marion (Nancy Stephen’s) and Lonnie Elam (Robert Longstreet) these are all Halloween veterans with Kyle and Nancy reprising their roles from the original movie. And even though it was pretty fan servicy to see the original characters return. It worked really well because it adds to the theme of trauma that 2018’s Halloween started and shows how Michael’s killing spree in 78 affected everyone.
Tumblr media
This movie chooses to focus on multiple characters rather than one main lead which I think also works well for the type of film Halloween kills is. Jamie Lee Curtis’s Laurie strode take a side step in this movie as she is recovering from the almost fatal wounds that Michael gave her in the previous movie. This was a smart move as I feel it’s setting up the third and final instalment where Laurie and Michael will come face to face one more time! The rest of the cast form a mob who all decide to take matters into their own hands and go after Michael themselves. The mob being lead by Tommy Doyle. Michael is almost the main character in this movie as he gets a lot of screen time and does a lot of killing! He tears through the town of haddonfield and nothing seems to be able to stop him. Out of the town of haddonfield Tommy and Karen really stand out to me. Tommy who’s intentions are good he feels that Laurie protected him from the boogie man as a child and now it’s his turn to protect her. Tommy leads the mob and really does a good job of making sure the mob lives up to its name. There is a very controversial moment where Tommy mistakes another escaped inmate for Michael and causes the whole mob to chase him this eventually leads to him jumping from the hospital roof which is a very sad scene but also shows us that maybe the “mob mentality” isn’t always good. Karen played by the amazing Judy Greer takes on a much larger role in this film who takes it on herself to also protect her mother from this mad man. I feel Karen has a lot of guilt for almost disowning her mother and calling her crazy and not believing her that Michael was a dangerous man. She delivers in this film by doing a lot of the fighting for her mother and protecting her daughter Allyson.
Tumblr media
Now we come to the end of Halloween kills. Last warning spoilers ahead. So the end of the film reveals that Laurie isn’t Michaels target and to be honest Michael couldn’t care less about Laurie more so that Laurie was in his way and kind of put herself in his cross fire. But because the town of haddonfield and Lauries family believe that Michael is after Laurie they all go after him. Michael as far as we can determine is simply trying to go home. He wants to return to his childhood home and look out of his sisters window like he used to do back when he was 6. When he gets to his home it is occupied by a gay couple big John and little John. These two act as the comic relief of the movie and are brilliant on screen. Michael quickly deals with the johns and finally has his home to himself again. Lonnie, allyson and her boyfriend Cameron (who is also Lonnies son) turn up at the myers house with the intention of killing Michael. Lonnie goes in alone first. After Alyson and Cameron hear a struggle they go inside too. Michael very quickly kills Lonnie and Cameron and very nearly kills off Allyson. This adds to a running theme that everyone underestimates Michael in thinking he is a normal human being. Karen turns up and saves her daughter while also removing Michaels mask. She lures him to the next street and this is revealed to be a trap. As I’m the next street is Tommy and his gang. Tommy and his gang all decide to beat down on Michael and Karen delivers the final blow stab in him in the back of the neck. The town has won. They finally have defeated Michael! Karen goes back to Allyson and comforts her. The Triumph is short lived though as Michael gets back up and attacks the group killing everyone. Including Tommy. This again adds to the theme that all these people seriously underestimate Michael. While Michael is killing everyone back at the myers House Karen sees an image of a young 6 year old Michael in his sisters window. She goes to investigate. When she gets to the window Michael springs up behind her and murders her. This death is very hard as Karen is such a good character and has been the driving force behind this movie. Again the theme of people underestimating Michael comes again. Karen who believed she killed the boogie man let’s her guard down and it costs her her life. The death was beautifully done as it echoed the same way Michael killed Judith all those years ago. We close the movie with Karen being murdered and Laurie in the hospital giving a speech on how she believes Michael isn’t human and is an unstoppable force. She says this not knowing that Michael his succeeded yet again in killing everyone she loves.
Tumblr media
This ending also teases the fact that Michael might very well be supernatural. No normal human would be able to take as many blows he has and get up again after it. This is a theme that has been explored in the now non cannon sequels. I just hope this doesn’t go way over the top and ruin the feel of Michael. I am more than happy to see an explanation of what actually keeps Michael coming back for more. Is it his mask? Let’s just hope they don’t go down tho route of cults and men in black once again. This ending leaves the story wide open and ready for the third and final movie Halloween ends. Is Laurie going to be out for revenge for the death of her daughter? Will Michael win again finally killing Laurie? We will have to wait and see in Halloween ends next year!
Tumblr media
This film really delivers as a sequel and also as a mid point in a trilogy. It delivers in true Halloween fashion the violence and nightmareish world John carpenter created in 1978. So I can’t stress this enough when I say don’t listen to the reviews go see this movie for yourself if you are a fan of horror but more so if your a Halloween fan. It’s a bloody good ride and won’t disappoint you!
Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“He’s a six-year-old boy with the strength of a man and the mind of an animal. Who knows what makes him kill? What motivates him? But in his heart it always seemed to me he wants one thing.” — Deputy Frank Hawkins
The day a plethora of horror movie fanatics have been waiting for has finally arrived, and the dust has settled. David Gordon Green’s follow up to his massively successful Halloween in 2018 named Halloween Kills arrived nationwide in theatres and on streaming platform Peacock last week on October 15.
The timeline in the movie takes place immediately after the previous film’s events, which was also a direct sequel to John Carpenter’s 1978 classic Halloween, ignoring all the other sequels.
The film has divided the horror movie community, with many praising the film as one of the best entries in the Halloween franchise. In contrast, others have lambasted it as a step backward from the previous entry in 2018.
Halloween Kills currently sits at a 39 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, dropping below the 79 percent its predecessor Halloween (2018) received. The CinemaScore for Halloween Kills stands at a B-, while Halloween (2018) garnered a B+ grade.
The rating the film has received from the critics isn’t surprising. Besides the 1978 original, the Halloween franchise has primarily received unfavorable reviews from critics. Even the franchise’s most popular sequels, such as 1981s Halloween 2 and 1988s Halloween 4, don’t have the best critical reviews.
In many respects, Halloween (2018) was an anomaly garnering the biggest box office take in the franchise at $255 million, with a tremendous amount of anticipation heading into its release.
Respectively, Halloween Kills thus far has exceeded expectations at the box office, at least in its first week, earning a pandemic-era horror and R-rated opening of $50.4 million.
The greatest strengths of Halloween Kills fall in line with what worked in 2018. Michaels Myers is once again played by James Jude Courtney, who in years to come may be looked upon as the definitive version of “The Shape.” Being that the film primarily takes place at night, the way the film looks with its usage of darker tones and balance give it more of the same aesthetic as the 1978 original.
Returning to do the score is John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel A. Davies. The music in a Halloween movie is arguably just as much a part of the franchise as Michael Myers. Carpenter and company do not disappoint putting out a score that matches the intensity of the movie. Throughout the film, numerous standout tracks elevate a scene to a higher plateau.
One of the most significant portions of the film takes place before its opening title sequence in a flashback to the famed night in 1978 when Myers first returned home to Haddonfield.
The flashback follows a young Frank Hawkins (Thomas Mann) and his partner leading up to the arrest of Michael Myers in 1978. For Halloween purists who hold up the original in the highest regard, this has to be a highlight as the lighting and camera work here give the film the look and feel of 1978.
The 78 version of Myers is played by Airon Armstrong, who does a fantastic job of mimicking the original “Shape” Nick Castle. Most of the credit should go to make-up artist Christopher Nelson who does something seemingly impossible for the majority of the franchise in getting the mask to look like the one used in 1978.
If you are a Halloween fan, you are well aware of the series’ issues throughout its sequels regarding the mask.
When you put the word kills in the title of a well-known iconic slasher franchise, there will be expectations for it to be one of the bloodiest entries. In that regard, Halloween Kills lives up to its name and delivers some of the most brutal kills the series has seen.
Myers’ escape from the burning house at Laurie Strode’s (Jamie Lee Curtis) features some iconic shots. The view of the firefighters seeing Myers walking out of the burning house with flames surrounding him holding a halligan tool is unlikely to be forgotten.
One of the best kills in the film takes place after Myers’ onslaught on the firefighters at an older couple’s home near Laurie Strode’s house. The kill features something that is rarely seen in the franchise with a glimpse into the process of Myers’ kills.
When Myers places the husband on top of the island in the kitchen and begins to test out different knives stabbing him several times, the camera veers slowly to the perspective of his wife, who is sitting on the floor slowly dying. The camera keeps the wife in the frame on the side, giving her point of view with Myers kept out of focus.
Some of the mixed and negative aspects of the film come from the film focusing on a large group of characters.
Halloween Kills brings back numerous legacy characters from the 1978 film, such as Tommy Doyle (Anthony Michael Hall), Lindsey Wallace (Kyle Richards), Lonnie Elam (Robert Longstreet), Marion Chambers (Nancy Stephens), and Leigh Brackett (Charles Cyphers).
The film doesn’t give room for these characters to develop, leaving some extensive missed opportunities as Brackett, who was the Haddonfield Sherriff and father of Laurie Strode’s best friend Annie, never shares a scene with Laurie.
Tommy Doyle plays one of the most significant roles in the movie, as he is the character that starts the mob storyline. However, the film’s most glaring weaknesses come from being the second act of a three-act story and the execution of its mob and hospital scenes.
The secondary storyline in Halloween Kills follows a second patient still on the loose after the bus crash in the previous film. The character resembles Danny DeVito more than Michael Myers and is confused for Myers inciting a riot at the Hospital.
Also, the film spends an abundant amount of time referencing “40 Years Ago” repeatedly in reminding fans of the events of 1978 and earlier in the night of 2018. These constant references to 40 years and what is now an internet meme with the number of times the phrase “Evil Dies Tonight” is said only serve to slow the film down.
When watching horror movies, specifically slashers, audiences usually need to suspend their disbelief when characters make stupid decisions. It’s part of the nucleus that makes horror movies; characters are going to be, at times, idiotic. In Halloween Kills, a news report shows both Myers and the other escaped mental patient with photos.
It’s hard to believe that a group of friends who meet up every year on Halloween to celebrate their experience with Myers wouldn’t know what he looks like unless the point of the mob storyline was to show how mob mentality can overtake common sense.
When it first came to light that David Gordon Green and Danny McBride would be making a direct sequel to the 1978 original ignoring all the previous sequels, it seemed like a chance to simplify the Halloween mythos and storyline.
However, the inclusion of 1981s Halloween 2 would have made the actions of nurses and doctors joining a mob at the drop of a hat seem more organic.
In 1981s Halloween 2, Myers finds Laurie Strode at the hospital and proceeds to kill various nurses and doctors along the way. The brother-sister storyline was introduced in Halloween 2; however, Laurie Strode never finds this out in the movie; it is Dr. Loomis who is told this revelation.
But, while ignoring or simply re-writing the brother-sister angle could have been done, explaining how Myers survived an explosion that left him completely engulfed in flames would have been difficult.
While there are numerous gruesome kills throughout Halloween Kills, the film only has small pockets of suspense.
One of the film’s highlights comes in a park scene with Myers stalking Lindsey Wallace (Kyle Richards)as she hides, covering her mouth to keep her breathing as low as possible. This scene has genuine suspense, and it’s in these moments where you can see the potential of this movie.
If there were more of these scenes and less of the convoluted mess in the hospital, the film would have benefited. An opportunity to show some of the Shape’s process in how he decorates his kills could have been shown here as well.
The scariest portions of the original Halloween weren’t the kills themselves, but the anticipation of the kill. Laurie looking out of her window and seeing Myers just standing there with the sheets of laundry blowing in the wind was more frightening than any kill, no matter how bloody or gruesome.
Not every single portion of the film in the hospital is lackluster, especially when the film decides to focus on just one or two characters.
Seeing Karen (Judy Greer) wash the blood off her hands and notice her wedding ring, realizing that her husband is now gone, was simple and effective visual storytelling.
Some of the standout scenes in the hospital include Frank Hawkins (Will Patton) and his conversations with Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis). These scenes feel the most organic and natural compared to the majority of the characters featured in the hospital setting.
Another positive note for Halloween Kills is that it adds some motivation for Myers that works within his mythology. One of the first places that Myers goes to in the 1978 film is back to his abandoned home. If Myers should have any pattern for his kills is that they are random, and when he is done, he returns to his childhood home.
The film’s final act holds the last bit of suspense with Allyson (Andi Matichak) and Cameron Elam’s (Dylan Arnold) confrontation with Myers at his home. Cameron’s death is one of the more ghastly deaths in the film.
It must be said that Halloween Kills has a good amount of horror movie fodder in characters that only serve the purpose of dying.
The couple of Little John (Michael McDonald) and Big John (Scott MacArthur) along with the doctor and nurse couple of Marcus (Michael Smallwood) and Vanessa (Carmela McNeal) were welcome additions that brought some levity to a film that takes itself too seriously.
The ending sequence with Myers losing his mask to Karen (Judy Greer)and then being lured into a trap to be assaulted by a mob of people led by Tommy Doyle (Anthony Michael Hall) is somewhat divisive. Myers crosses the line between human and supernatural here, surviving multiple gunshots, stabbings, and hits with various objects.
The problem with the sequence is that Myers is shown in a vulnerable state, and in a film where he has essentially blown past everyone, it gives the film another uneven tone. The film’s final scene has Myers kill Karen (Judy Greer) after she decides to go inside the Myers house after seeing a vision of Myers as a child looking out his sister’s bedroom window.
Now that it has been put out by director David Gordon Green, that the final movie Halloween Ends will be taking place up to four years after the events of Halloween Kills, it’s worrisome the direction that film will take.
Allyson (Andi Matichek), in many respects, has suffered more significant losses than Laurie did in 1978, losing her mother, father, boyfriend, and numerous friends. Now with Laurie having lost her daughter, the stakes will be higher in Halloween Ends. What happens to Myers in that time gap between Kills and Ends will have to be well thought out.
All in all, Halloween Kills is a slasher film that harkens back to many that came out in the 1980s. Many of the most hated movies in the Halloween franchise, such as Halloween 5 and 6, now have a cult following. Halloween Kills will likely fall into that category.
It has moments that show its potential in getting Myers, the cinematography, and the score done in a way that honors the original. Still, the script, pacing, and editing bring it down from being something more substantial.
Halloween Kills has some elements that make a great Halloween movie, but overall it finds itself lost within its message. Much like Myers staring at himself in his sister Judith’s room, hopefully, David Gordon Green and Danny McBride can look within themselves to keep the final film simple.
Rating: 3/5

Halloween Kills Spoilers
I literally just got back from seeing it so I want to go through some thoughts. Some NSFT content because it’s Michael and I want to fuck him.
First, the bad! Aspects I did not enjoy:
Significant filler; Halloween Kills being split from Halloween Ends is a major flaw-- Halloween Kills has been significantly padded out to make up for the runtime. Some of this filler is fine (Oscar’s mother, for example, I didn’t hate), but the hospital/Trovoli plot and Laurie/Hawkins scene could’ve been compressed significantly. Give us more Michael rampage instead of repetitive cut-up dialogue, you know? Also a real problem because most of the filler is at the start of the movie, making it take a good 15 minutes to get to any content I care about. I think there might have been a way to present this information in a more enjoyable way, but it just felt like lifeless padding to me.
1978 Flashbacks. Fine to include to explain Hawkin’s hatred of Michael, but the retcon of Lonnie Elam’s character is complete filler. Could’ve still left him as-is, have him see Michael, and cut down on unnecessary scene with childhood bullies that don’t really help me enjoy or understand Lonnie’s 2018 personality. I enjoyed that the flashbacks weren’t included in 2018, leaving the viewer to piece together what happened- it isn’t necessary to show your viewer everything.
Supernatural Michael. Listen. It’s only implied by Laurie, who’s already traumatized as fuck and fucked up on pain killers, but having her monologue about him being “more than human” as he shrugs off multiple knife stab wounds, a pitchfork stab, 5 more gunshots, and multiple blunt force hits.......... really does not leave me enthusiastic. I think Halloween 2018 succeeded so well because of the return of “He’s just a Regular Man, but Murderous” Michael Myers. When he’s hurt in 2018 he does grunt and flinch and disappears for a while. It’s why 4-6 doesn’t leave me satisfied but H20 does. I’m really hoping, idk, they’ll have him recuperate somehow between movies to emphasize that he’s human and isn’t actually just immortal.
Reset on Karen’s personality. Karen ends 2018 by finding her will to fight, but at the start of Kills she’s again demoted to “the cops will handle this.” and has to relearn that cops can’t do shit. Sadly her 2018 revelation holds more poignancy than her Kills revelation (using her childhood rifle, a core part of her trauma, in self defense vs failing to save a total stranger from mob justice, then joining in on mob justice).
Not enough Laurie! Most of her screentime is spent building Karen’s or Hawkin’s character arcs, she ended up feeling ornamental, like a celeb cameo instead of a main character. If her mantle of “The Strode We Care About” had been entirely passed to Karen or Allison I would have less of a problem (i.e. have her actually be unconscious most of the movie), but instead she’s around just enough to be like “Karen you’re wrong” and “Hawkins you’re wrong.”
Weird emphasis on knives? This one may change categories as I think about it. I know, I know, knives are Michael’s signature weapon, it’s all his promo art. But it seems like every victim picks up a knife, then fails to use it except Allison. At least three characters I can think of specifically pick up knives to fend off Michael and then fail to even swing them. There might be some symbolism that just isn’t landing right on first watch through (a definite theme is “Michael turns other people into monsters”, with the wielding of knives linking Michael, which I’m not a fan of considering Halloween 2018 opens with that thesis and Laurie immediately rebukes it).
Things I enjoyed!
MICHAEL’s CHARACTERIZATION. I was very, very worried from the trailer that he might be different, but holy shit. JJC really is born to play Michael Myers. He’s completely remorseless, hard to understand, has a weird sense of humor, and what I think is most important:
the mask plays a role for him. In ‘78 he stops attacking Laurie to put his mask back on, in 2018 the only reaction he really shows is when he’s presented with the mask and he even strokes the mask before putting it on. In the novelization, the mask is personified! They keep his consistency by having him stop attacking Allison when she’s takes it off and immediately have him chase Karen when she steals it-- and he puts it on before facing down the mob.
Continuing, his obsession with “coming home.” This really hasn’t been touched on since the original movie and, unfortunately, Resurrection. Loomis himself warns the town that Michael is coming home, and Michael does in the original movie. I’m on the fence about the window scene, it’s edging into “explaining Michael Myers” territory, and I much prefer him as completely mysterious, unexplainable (in canon) and left to the viewer’s interpretation. It’s just open enough to not define him in any way, but I can’t imagine they won’t build on that for Halloween Ends.
Seriously. There’s a huge problem with this movie’s filler but all the Michael content itself is flawless. I cannot over state this. Every scene that shows him has this wonderful camera work, showing him slightly off-screen, off-center, out of focus in this way that makes him so much more intimidating I love it.
The absolute refusal to show his unmasked face clearly is a great move. Revealing JJC’s face would’ve felt cheap, but any time he is maskless he’s out of focus, facing away from the camera, or perfectly out of frame. Maskless Michael in 1978 felt... rewarding, like proof he’s human. The shot is poorly lit and only lasts a moment, and Kills does not sully that.
MICHAEL’S STAGING. To my recollection this is the first time in a Halloween movie we actually see Michael creating his little scenes. He moves bodies in the original and 2018, so more continuity for this timeline-- but without any indications of what he’s thinking we get to see Michael move a victim and stage them! (in ‘78 we see him move Annie but don’t see what he does with her until Laurie finds her).
Michael is more brutal in the 78 flashback. This one comes 100% from my pussy but him killing that cop was hot as fuck and deserve its own bullet point.
All the kills. Seriously. Some were obviously over the top and approaching Resurrection levels of stupid, but overall they concluded in hot as fuck sequences that literally, seriously made me salivate. He lifts a dude up with a fire axe. He stabs a lady in the throat. He leans into a car, crowds up on a woman, and stabs her repeatedly. It’s hot. It’s so hot. I need gifs immediately.
Attention to detail!!! Michael’s injuries from 2018 are clearly present, blood stains from his shoulder wound and damage to the mask from the face shot are visible! I love that shit!!!
Bandaged hand! As a counter point to supernatural Michael, it does clearly show that sometime between his kills he stops and bandages his hand. Still, he’s taken a lot of damage and somehow managed to navigate back to his house and kill Karen without anyone noticing.
Karen. I called this from the moment 2018 ended, and I am glad they did not disappoint on that theme. I wish her death had been a little more graphic since she is a Strode, but having her reenact Judith’s murder is also pretty cool.
Predictions/Desires:
Exploration into Michael’s psyche (derogatory) and his relationship with Judith (derogatory). Why include the window details if not build on it? Why have Sartain be obsessed with his relationship to Judith? why have Michael wake/react to Judith’s name? why recreate her murder with Karen? I don’t want this to be the case, but there’s wayyy too much pointing towards a Judith-centered plot.

[Interview] Tristian Eggerling on Playing Young Lonnie Elam in 'Halloween Kills'
Among the legacy characters from John Carpenter’s 1978 classic Halloween who are featured once again this year’s highly anticipated sequel Halloween Kills is Lonnie Elam, who is played by two actors new to the franchise, Robert Longstreet as adult Lonnie and Tristian Eggerling, who plays young Lonnie in the very key flashback scenes in the film. We recently talked to Eggerling via email just…

I hope you all are enjoying Lonnie fanfiction. I love writing for him.
Lonnie and Tommy were waiting in the parking lot at the hospital for Cameron to come out. A couple of Cameron's friends were murdered and he was there with Allyson.
"We got to stop him, Lonnie. For real this time. We have to stop, Michael". Tommy stressed to Lonnie who was nodding his head in agreement.
"You're damn right".
"Where's Y/N"? Tommy asked, he didn't see you at the party.
Lonnie gulped down his fears. "She's....she's out trick or treating with our baby girl. Oh god, she's out there by herself, Tommy". Lonnies eyes began to swell with tears, his lip quivered. His mind was on Cameron that he forgot to call you.
"Get her on the phone and we'll go pick her up. Now"! Tommy ordered. Lonnie fumbled with his phone. He's nerves getting the best of him.
"Hey, this is Y/N, sorry I couldnt come to the phone but if this is Lonnie leave me a dirty message". You say with giggle. Lonnie shook his head and hung up.
"She's not answering".
"Where was she going"?
"Just around the neighborhood. Maybe a block or two".  Lonnie said through tears.
"Alright, go to your house and see if shes there. I'll get Cameron and go look. We'll find them". Tommy reassured Lonnie.
Lonnie jumped into his truck and sped away heading towards his house. He couldn't lose you or his kids.
"Come on, sweet treat". You laughed as your three year old daughter swirled around with a sucker in her mouth. "Let's go see if daddy is home with your brother".
"Cam, eat my caaannddyy"! She screamed with a horror look on her face.
"You can share. You can share with daddy too". You scooped her and started walking back to the house. It was a few houses down the block.
"What do you want for dinner"?
"Candy". She hummed sucking on her sucker.
"No. How about pizza? I can call daddy and he can bring some".
"Yes"! She squealed. You pulled out your phone and saw you missed a call from Lonnie. You pressed redial.
"Lonnie"?
"Y/N, where are you"? He asked, panic in his voice.
"I'm almost to the house. Why"?
"Where are you? Michael Myers is loose".
You stopped where you were and looked around. Kids and their parents were still running around trick or treating. The news hadn't hit the neighborhood yet.
"Is Cameron okay"? Your voice was hush.
"He's fine. He's with Tommy. Now please tell me where you are? I'm almost to our house". Lonnie looked down the road, at the houses to see if he spotted you or Michael.
"I'm by Ms. Turners house. I'm right in front". You gulped looking over your shoulder. Darkness surrounding you as you held your daughter.
"I see you. I see you". Lonnie was relieved as he pulled up to you. He jumped out of the truck with his gun drawn and ran to you. Wrapping his arms around you two.
"Thank God you two are okay". He pushed hair from your face.
"What is going on"? You asked, nerves getting the best of you as you broke down with a sob.
"It's not safe anywhere. Michael is on a rampage. He hit Laurie's compound. Shes in the hospital. Then went on a killing spree on his way here. A couple of Camerons friends were K.I.L.L.E.D. First responders D.E.A.D, cops, everyone is a target". Lonnie spelled out looking at his daughter.
"Oh god. Is Cameron alright? He should be with you instead of Tommy".
"I'll call them and let them know I found you. We'll met up. Then you, baby girl and Cameron will go to your mothers. I'm going to stay here with Tommy".
"The hell you are. I'm not going anywhere without you. Take me to the house. We'll stay there. I'm not leaving you". Your voice rised just as your temper did.
"Dont be so stubborn. You are going to your mothers. You'll be safe there. I cant lose you three. So do as you're told". Lonnie growled.
"No. I'm staying. We're not losing you either. I know Tommy. He's a hot head and he will get you hurt or worse. Now. Take us home or we're going with you. You decide". You let out a long breath.
"You are so stubborn". Lonnie chuckled.
"We both are. Take me to Cameron or bring him here. I want us together".
"Alright. I'll call Tommy. He'll bring Cameron but you're not going to like it when Cameron tells you that he's going out to hunt Michael because he already said he was".
"He isnt and neither are you. We're going home and staying there. You've already faced down evil one time, you arent doing it again anytime soon. Take us home".
Lonnie nodded. He led you to the truck and called Tommy. Cameron was there in minutes.
"No, I'm going with dad". Cameron argued with you.
Lonnie cleared his throat. "I'm not going. I'm gonna stay here and protect my family. And you will too". Lonnie narrowed his eyes at Cameron.
"But dad". Cameron protested.
"No. Tommy has enough people helping him. The police are out there searching as well. We need you at home. Where we are together as a family. Now get inside with your sister and eat some of her candy. Like any normal Halloween".
"Okay". Cameron hugged Lonnie then went inside.
"Tommy....". Lonnie started but Tommy stopped him.
"I understand. You have a family you have to protect. They need you. I'll see you later buddy". Tommy shook Lonnies hand then got in his car. You wrapped your arm around Lonnies as you both stood in front of your house watching Tommy disappear down the street.
"I hope he knows what he's doing". Lonnie said as he turned to you.
"He thinks he does. He wants to do the right thing but he's over his head. Michael Myers isn't someone to take lightly. He's a monster". You lay your head on his shoulder as you started walking into the house.
"He's the boogeyman". Lonnie said before closing the front door and locking it.
Lonnie and Cameron locked up the house and stood guard with a tackle box full of guns sitting on the kitchen table. They barricaded the front and back door with couches and dressers. They weren't letting anything or anyone in.

Afinal, a propriedade estava adormecida e aparentemente gasta.

here are all the amazing easter eggs and references in the new movie Halloween (2018) !! it does contain spoilers and WHEW this list is long bc im the biggest nerd ever have fun
i also tried to do it in order lmao
The opening credits are eerily similar to the original credits back in 1978 and also the same font the original movie used unlike what some of the sequels did.
In the credits, instead of actor Nick Castle being credited as Michael Myers, The Shape” is. This further alludes to the fact that Myers is not human and really is The Boogieman. Castle performed a majority of the masked Myers' scenes, so he's not necessarily playing "Michael Myers" in that sense.
In the beginning scenes, we hear recordings of Dr. Samuel Loomis, Myers’s original doctor/psychiatrist, diagnosing him as a demon saying “it needs to die!” Although it sets up the atmosphere of the scene as even more chilling, it pays respects to Donald Pleasence (Dr. Loomis) with his dedication to the franchise who died in 1995. Although it is not Pleasence’s voice, actor Colin Mahan did an excellent job bringing back Dr. Loomis’s iconic voice full of fear and paranoia to the viewers.
Michael escapes from him being transported like in Halloween and in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers where a prisoner transport goes wrong. However, his escape almost exactly parallels the first movie. In both movies, patients are seen roaming around the field with the crashed bus but no Michael in sight. The soon-to-be victim goes outside their car to check out the damage and then goes back into the car without checking the backseat. Big mistake since Michael strangles his victim to death and steals their car to head back home.
After Michael is found out to be the last missing patient, he is referenced as with “babysitter murders”. To the average viewer, this could mean nothing more than a simple refresher to the first movie but to a Halloween fan, it’s more than that. The original movie title was going to be “The Babysitter Murders” but was later changed to its iconic title.
When Dr. Loomis arrives in Haddonfield to find Michael, his first stop is to visit Judith Myers’s grave, the deceased sister of Michael Myers. In this film, it’s the podcasters who visit the grave.
Laurie Strode’s house, or sanctuary, in this case, gives a very similar vibe to the original Myers’ house from the first movie which first shows the viewers how similar Laurie and Michael have become.
When Michael arrives at the gas station, there is a pickup truck that has “Resurrection Church” which could be a homage to Halloween: Resurrection (even though it was one of the worst movies in the franchise).
Meanwhile, at the gas station, the entire scene plays out very closely related to Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers where after he escapes he also visits a gas station and kills all the workers there.
Michael murders a garage mechanic and steals his utilitarian jumpsuit, which is exactly how he changes from a hospital gown to a pair of grease-stained overalls in Halloween 4.
However, he doesn’t just stop at killing the workers this time. His main targets were the two podcast reporters from the beginning of the movie who he kills in the bathroom of the gas station. In many of the sequels, characters have met Myers in public restrooms whether it be the first time or the last time which serves as an ongoing theme in the films.
After Michael Myers escapes in the original movie, the scene cuts to Laurie and her friends walking down the sidewalk in Haddonfield discussing their Halloween plans, unaware of the horror that was let loose. This is very similar to the scene with Allyson and her friends but with a more modern conversation and sprinkling in Allyson’s grandmother’s paranoia.
In school, we see Allyson sitting in the back of a classroom looking out the window while her teacher is talking about “fate”. This alludes heavily to the first film with almost identical movements. However, in the first film, Laurie’s teacher explains that fate is a natural, nonreligious element of our lives, so we’re destined for whatever fate has in store for us -- aka Laurie encountering Michael who will ultimately change her life. Allyson’s teacher, on the other hand, says the quote, “He said fate took a different course.” With some research, we learn the quote comes from a Holocaust Survivor named Viktor Frankl and said “The way in which a man accepts his fate and all the suffering it entails, the way in which he takes up his cross, gives him ample opportunity — even under the most difficult circumstances — to add a deeper meaning to his life… Here lies the chance for a man either to make use of or to forgo the opportunities of attaining the moral values that a difficult situation may afford him. And this decides whether he is worthy of his sufferings or not.” This alludes to Laure’s trauma and how she overcomes it by the end of the movie.
The biggest and most obvious reference in the classroom scene is when Allyson looks out the window and sees her grandmother across the street staring at her, exactly the same to Laurie’s first encounter with Myers.
When the Strodes are having dinner, Allyson invited her boyfriend, Cameron Elam. Allyson’s father tells stories to them about how him and Cameron’s father, Lonnie Elam, would “trip balls out in the woods.” This was the same Lonnie Elam who bullied Tommy Doyle in the original, and whose friends dare him to approach the door of the haunted Myers house.
During dinner, Laurie arrives late and in a state of panic. She jugs down a glass of wine to calm her nerves which she does similarly during lunch in Halloween H20.
Going back to number 2 in this list, “The Shape” is credited to play Michael Myers. Although Myers is commonly called that by many fans, this name was never actually spoken until this film, At dinner, Laurie tells her family that “I saw him. The shape.” So FINALLY, fans can hear the secret name spoken aloud.
okay this list is really long uhhh tell me if u want more lmao bc i am literally only like 15 min into the movie
