So you know how I came up with the idea of LDB reincarnating into Yuebei Xing in my "The Monkey King and the Infant" au?

I had a very silly/potientially adorable au idea that can fit into multiple fic ideas for the canon LMK verse >:)

Imagine this; The Lady Bone Demon has just been defeated. The heroes rejoice.

But her soul is still wandering.

Zipping towards the gang - who/what will the little icy soul be reborn as? Choose your adventure!:

Will it attach itself to the recently-reconcilled Sun Wukong and Macaque, becoming Yuebei Xing like in the au? Shadowpeach screaming ensues. (Yuebei/"Lunar Apogee" route)

Will it hit the closest human vessel - becoming the second unexpected child in Tang and Pigsy's lives? MK freaks out cus this means LBD will become his little sibling. (Bao/"Dumpling" route)

Will the unfrozen Demon Bull couple recognise the little soul flying around and jump to catch it - fufilling their desire for a second born? Red has many concerns. (Jīnzhēn/"Day-Lily" route)

The overzealous recently-revived Spider Gang jump to ensare the loose soul. The silk falling away to reveal a brand-new spider egg? Can includes developing Silktea and/or ToxicInsanity, and DesertSilk/VenomQueens shipping depending on whos minding the egg at the moment. (Shísuàn/"Spider-lily" route)

Spirit-

Because spirit is not tangible, its correspondences differ from those of the physical components. Planets, tools, and other objects may be associated with it by various systems, although these associations are significantly less standardised than those of the other four elements. The element of spirit has various names. The most popular are spirit, ether or aether, and quintessence, which is Latin for "fifth element."

There is no universal symbol for spirit, however circles are prevalent. Eight-spoked wheels and spirals are also used to symbolise spirit. Spirit connects the physical and spiritual realms. In cosmological conceptions, the spirit is the intermediary substance between the physical and heavenly realms. Within the microcosm, the spirit serves as the link between the body and the soul.

Invoke your god or goddess. This can be accomplished by looking into their correspondences and making sacrifices or burning suitable incense, for example. If you discover a chant you enjoy, you may utilise it as well, or focus on this god, welcoming the message they wish to convey to you.

Practice divination! This is one of the most effective techniques to connect with the spiritual dimension. It allows you to bypass your conscious mind, which sometimes prevents us from receiving subconscious instructions. Whether you use tarot, a pendulum, or runes, calling on spirit or a specific god can help you connect with this element while performing divination.

Keep a dream notebook. We frequently receive messages in our sleep that we quickly forget unless we write them down. When we sleep, our conscious mind is not functioning, leaving us more receptive to receiving messages from Spirit. To interpret the dreams, become familiar with common symbolism and interpret them instinctively.

Draw, paint, or colour a mandala. This is a style of meditation derived from the Buddhist and Hindu practices of Tantra. Mandalas became popular in the New Age movement after Carl Jung presented them as a tool to examine the subconscious, and they can now be found almost anywhere, including adult colouring books.

Funguary '24: Silver Leaf Fungus | Lilac Seadragon

Week 1 | Week 3 | Week 4

Coincidentally we have a dragon in the year of the dragon just a few days shy of the Lunar New Year! 🐉 Based on the timing I posted this, it's also Valentine's Day ❤️

Silver leaf is actually a fungal disease caused by chondrostereum purpureum that viciously attacks the Rosaceae family that includes roses, apricots, plums, peaches and almonds. It also attacks deciduous trees like maple and hawthorn. The name is derived from the silvering of leaves on affected hosts, and the disease is often fatal. The fungus is as widespread as its hosts and can be a serious parasite to living trees.

Inspired by the properties of silver leaf disease and wanting to do something in spirit of the year of the dragon, I came up with a poisonous seadragon species. Halfway through I realised the pokemon Dragalge is basically the same concept but mine is quite a different take, I hope!

Really struggled with the rendering. I gave up multiple times and kept sighing on how to fix the shading because no matter what or how much I edited, I wasn't satisfied but I had to move on. It was fun coming up with a design and its background, though!

Each #Funguary2024 I do will be depicted as a sea creature and designed like an encyclopedia page. Funguary is a yearly drawing challenge in February hosted by artist Feefal to turn fungi prompts into characters.

Currently working on my own version of the adapted Attic calendar! So far I only have January, but February is almost done as well. Fair warning, this goes in depth about what the festivals/celebrations are and how to commemorate, so this post is gigantic. Attention: This is for the SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE!

⛧ [10/01/24] [Hekatombion 40th] - Hekate Deipnon

WHAT IS IT & WAYS TO CELEBRATE: It takes place at the end of the Lunar month. Hekate means "bringer of light", so at the darkest part of the month, we prepare our homes for the transition to a new month and offer her a meal. Think of it as a mini new year; clean/cleanse your house (especially altars), get rid of things you don't want to bring into next month (physical, spiritual, etc), and leave Hekate an offering at sundown (preferably a meal, but if you can't afford to waste food, just give her something else. Maybe bury or burn it if you can). Here's a list of good offerings (best left outside or at her altar, if you have one for her):

WHAT IS IT & HOW TO CELEBRATE: The Noumenia is the first day of the visible New Moon and is held in honor of the household Gods. The Noumenia is a celebration of the start of a new Hellenic month and seeks blessings for the household. Honestly? You can just kick back and relax if you want or can, to invite calm energies into the upcoming month. But, if you (like me) want to be a little extra, here's some ways to celebrate:

Start a new personal project or hobby, or just pick back on things you've been putting off.

Set intentions for the coming month, and make plans for any of the month’s upcoming festivals, or for any of your personal upcoming plans.

Leave offerings for your deities.

Moon/stargaze, maybe meditate under the Moon.

Do a reading with your preferred divination method with the Theoi, asking what you should focus on in the coming month.

WHAT IS IT & HOW TO CELEBRATE: One of my favorites! Daimons are household spirits that look after you and your family, so this is a day to honor Him! Pour a libation (especially wine, but mine likes milk better to be honest), make an offering, light a candle, maybe even make Him a lil altar! He's heavily associated with snakes, but aside from that you can offer (or put in His altar) anything you correlate with abundance, good luck, protection, etc. These guys are so overlooked and I love them. WHAT IS IT & HOW TO CELEBRATE: The Eleusinia was a thanksgiving festival held to honor Demeter for the gift of grain. A modern way to celebrate is to have a big dinner (maybe include some breads and baking) and give thanks to Lady Demeter through it! Thank her for grain and the agricultural processes that we benefit from!

⛧ [28/01/24 ?] [Metageitnion 18th ?] - Adonia

WHAT IS IT & HOW TO CELEBRATE: A festival mourning the death of Adonis, one of Aphrodite's human lovers. Traditionally, it was celebrated only by women (as a trans guy, I personally don't give a fuck and celebrate it anyway). Also, there's no source for an exact date, so this is an educated guess at best (most sources just refers to it as taking place "midsummer"). For a way to celebrate, I found this amazing hymn/poem. Remember to honor Aphrodite on this day as well.

⛧ [30/01/24] [Metageitnion 20th] - Hera Telkhinia

WHAT IS IT & HOW TO CELEBRATE: A minor sacrifice for Hera, taking place in the suburbs of Athens. Again, not a lot of info, but if you worship or have a connection to her, maybe read her a hymn, pour a libation honor her on this day! Here's a Orphic hymn to her:

The ancient Caduceus symbol used by the modern medical establishment symbolizes on a esoteric level the alchemical process. The staff represents the spinal column which correlates with the Sushumna Nadi channel of yogic esoteric anatomy. The two ascending spirals of snakes represent the solar and lunar currents known as the ida and pingala of the kundalini life force. The spiral pattern is similar to the spirals of the human DNA. The symbolism of Jacobs Ladder or Stairway to Heaven corresponds with the Staff of Life.The sphere at the top of the staff represents the energy center of the brain or the seventh chakra also known as the thousand petaled lotus. Hello, so you will want to head over to @lunarrosespirits if you’d like to adopt. I’m reblogging the spirits from there, as I and Mod Moon have moved over there as Mod Hua and Mod Moon Lily respectively.

The FAQ should hopefully still be accessible. Our minimum age for adoption is 18, and some spirits have a fee, some don’t, it is posted at the bottom of each bio.

Although The Grimorium Verum dismisses Satanachia’s other spirit connections as being “of no great consequence,” I’ve found this assertion to be false. I’ve found Satanachia to be highly connected to planetary energies, stars, and nature spirits. I’ve also found that Satanachia is heavily aligned with spirits who watch over and protect women and transgender people. As you work with this demon, you, too, will discover new spirit alliances that relate to him/her/them and your own spirit allies as well.

Satanachia is often conflated with Chía, a triple moon goddess from the Muisca civilization/culture in the region that is now known as Colombia. The Muisca community is indigenous, which means it’s not good for non-Muisca individuals to conflate Satanachia with Chía. While the two overlap in certain ways (such as a shared focus on feminism and the moon), they are ultimately different beings. Therefore, I do not recommend using the same practices that the Muisca used to connect with Chía for the purpose of connecting with Satanachia.

Viserys was seated by a window in his solar when Aemon arrived. "Commander Hardyng said you wanted to see me, father."

"Good," he said, and waited for his son to find a place at the table. "We can now begin."

Aemon looked around after claiming a chair between Naerys and Elaena. Aegon was here, a goblet of wine already in hand. Daena and Rhaena were present and accounted for. Baelor was here as well, garbed in plain gray robes. The king had been attending dawn prayers to cleanse himself, no doubt, when the summons came. Aemon turned his attention to his father. The years and bitterness over his wife's leaving had not been kind to the Hand of the King. His eyes had grown hard and his mouth was always set in a thin, angry line.

It is as if my mother took the sun with her when she left. Aemon said nothing and waited for his father to speak.

Viserys leaned into his chair and steepled his fingers beneath his chin. He studied his family and said, "I cannot even begin to impress upon you the importance of the coming days and weeks. Rhaena. Elaena. I trust your sister has told you the news?"

"Yes, uncle." Elaena twirled a short lock of silver hair around her finger. "I am to marry Prince Trystane Martell and Rhaena is to marry Edgar Redwyne when we come of age."

Aemon considered the matches appropriate. Elaena would be happy at Sunspear. Its future lord will like his bride's free spirit. And Rhaena would do well with Edgar Redwyne. A mild, sweet-natured young man, his temperament would suit Rhaena's perfectly.

"Good. And since Trystane and Edgar will be joining us for the hunt and the coronation, I hope you all understand the importance of making the right impression." Viserys looked at them without blinking. "Starting with you, your grace. You will keep your tedious sermonizing and moralizing to yourself. Do you understand me?"

Baelor purpled and rose. His chair scraped over the stone floor when he pushed it back in his haste to stand.

"But souls must be cleansed and shown the light, uncle!" he cried in his thin, reedlike voice. "This was what I was meant to do! What the Seven saved me for! And the coming weeks would be perfect for me to..."

"Still think bringing him back was a good idea?" Elaena leaned over and whispered to Aemon. The prince merely looked on while the king made a spectacle of himself, ranting and raving with religious server, listening to his tirade with growing alarm. Baelor had changed since that day in the snake pit, and not for the better. Aemon glanced at his father. Only his father could control the king and curb his follies. And his father was not going to live forever.

"If I cannot carry out my duties to the Seven, then I will not attend the hunt or the coronation feast!" Baelor finished with a huff and sat down.

"Good." Viserys looked pleased. It was as if he hoped Baelor would refuse to attend any of the festivities. "And I will make suitable excuses on your behalf. I will, however, insist on your being present when the Martels arrive at the Red Keep and for your wife's anointing. It will reflect poorly on us and the Faith if the king is remiss in all his duties."

"Very well," Baelor muttered in defeat. "May I go now?"

"Go," Viserys said, dismissing his nephew with a careless wave of the hand. "Continue with your prayers. Perhaps the Father above will remind you of your obligations to this family and your subjects."

Baelor gathered his robes and swiftly left the room. Aemon thought his father was shrewd to bring the Faith into the argument. Baelor would never do anything that could put the Faith in a bad light.

"Aegon."

Aegon put his goblet down and smiled grandly. "And so the executioner summoned me to the chopping block."

Viserys did not reciprocate his son's attempts to lighten the mood. "Your drinking and whoring are your greatest weaknesses. And they make you as big a fool as Baelor with his excessive piety and Daeron with his need for war."

Daena rose with a start. "How dare you say such a thing! Daeron was..."

"A fool." Viserys chilled them all with an icy glare. "He lost ten thousand men taking Dorne and more than five times that trying to keep it. And for what?" he spat in disgust, "so his brother could walk up to the Sun Throne and bend the knee?"

Daena opened her mouth to retort. Viserys cut her off with a curt, "Your grace, if you want my support in securing a regency in your name once you have provided your husband with a son, you will learn to use your eyes and ears more and your mouth less."

That was enough to silence the queen. She nodded in acquiescence and sat down. Aemon was confused now.

Elaena leaned over again and whispered, "I will tell you later."

Aemon nodded, and attention was brought to Aegon once more. "Tell me what is happening between you and Alys?"

At the mention of his wife's name, Aegon picked up his goblet and drained it.

"A bore, that is what she is." He reached for the crystal pitcher and wrinkled his face when he found it empty. "Alys Tyrell is fat and placid..."

"And Paxter Tyrell, her father, is lord of the most fertile lands in the seven kingdoms. His brother-by-law, Ryam Redwyne, commands the largest fleet in the seven kingdoms," Viserys said. "Do you understand what I am saying?"

Aegon may not have caught on, but the others did. "Offend one, and you offend the other," Elaena said out loud what they were all thinking. "And right now, we cannot afford to offend either."

"Precisely," Viserys said approvingly. "We need peace with both families. At least until Rhaena has been safely wedded and bedded. I believe you still have some work to do on that score in your own marriage."

It was Aegon's turn to purple, only this time, with embarrassment and not religious fervor. "How do you know?" he asked meekly.

"The servants," said Viserys. "You may not see or hear them, but they see and hear all. They talk of how you sleep on the carpet instead of your wife's bed, that you marriage may not even be consumated." He managed a weak smile just then. "Strange. Even Baelor and your brother can do their duty while you, a man who boasts of bedding dozens of women, cannot."

Aegon turned a bright red, and for the first time in his life, Aemon felt for his brother. Aegon never wanted to marry Alys, or anyone for that matter. He wished to have only mistresses, but Viserys refused to hear of it. The family needed allies now that the dragons were all gone, and the fastest way to secure them was through marriage. Aemon remembered the morning of the wedding. His brother had wept and raged and still did as his lord father commanded, wedding a bride that was pretty, clever, and sweet-tempered. Alas, that bride was also far from the type of companion Aegon would have desired. Aegon craved fire and excitement, everything Alys lacked.

Aemon felt for Alys as well and began to understand y/n's struggles. To be sent to a strange place and to a man who only saw her as a chore would have been hard. But at least Alys was of the same faith as her new family. Y/n was not, and she allowed herself to be anointed with seven oils to please him. She conducted herself as a true Southron lady to please him. Left her family and the life she knew for his sake. Aemon never did anything to please her, and the thought grieved him.

“Well, at least Alys is here with me," Aegon retorted sharply, "instead of running off with her cousin in the middle of a fucking tourney."

Everyone's attention turned to Aemon. "I will deal with you later," Viserys said. It was a signal for Aegon to leave. The prince rose stiffly and managed to make his way out the door, shouting for more wine as soon as he stepped into the corridor.

Viserys eyed his younger children. "Naerys swears that nothing untoward has happened. The servants say more or less the same. I believe it. I still need to know what to tell Lord Stark."

"Tell him what, father?"

"Whether we like it or not, Lord Cregan Stark will hear of that bit of theater at the tourney. Lady Cerwyn will make certain of it. Lord Stark will then send me a raven. He will demand answers. He will want to know if his grandchild is happy here and if she is being treated well. He will question the wisdom of allowing this marriage to take place. Pray what do I tell him?"

Dread coiled in his belly once more. And fear. Aemon did not want his marriage to end. And he did not know what to say to satisfy a Lord as proud as Cregan Stark.

"You do understand the North does not condemn annulments like we do? And that the right argument would convince Baelor to approve the dissolution of your marriage?" Viserys pulled a piece of folded parchment out of his pocket and threw it on the table. Daena picked it up and went through it, her eyes widening with each line. She passed the parchment on to the others. "And there is this. Jonnel Stark tried to force himself on Lord Stane's sister while she was visiting friends on the mainland. Edric tried to help him. There will be a trial by combat, but mark my words, Cregan's sons will fall before Lord Stane, and Cregan himself will not bat an eyelid. His remaining two children had been plaguing him for years and he can finally be rid of them without offending the Gods by kinslaying."

“But why did he not make them take the black before this?” Rhaena said, her eyes filled with curiosity. “He has two trueborn granddaughters for heirs.”

"Cregan and I discussed it at length when I went to negotiate marriage terms on your cousin’s behalf.” Viserys joined them at the table. “Unfortunately his decision would have led to a civil war in the North. Jonnel and Edric are not the sorts to disappear quietly into the night. They would have set their father’s bannermen against each other in their quest to preserve their hold over Winterfell. This is the only way. No Northerner will dare stand against a trial by combat as it means defying the laws of the Old Gods themselves."

Aemon did not have to be told more. With Jonnel and Edric dead, y/n will be the next in line to inherit Winterfell and the title of Lady Paramount of the North. He could already picture it. His wife seated upon the winter throne in Winterfell's great hall, Ice on her lap and the crown of winter kings on her brow. She would be allowed the privilege of a direwolf pup for a companion and a bow made out of the wood from a Weirwood tree. To possess the love of such a lady... He found himself welling up with pride.

"We cannot afford to lose y/n now," Viserys rose and walked over to a nearby chest of drawers. When he rejoined the others, he had an ornate chest in his hands. Aemon recognized the crest in the center. The box had once belonged to his mother. "To lose her means to lose the foothold we will gain in the North. You will need to save your marriage, and you will need to make overtures. Something worthy of the future Mistress of Winterfell. Perhaps, you can start with this."

Viserys threw open the lid and turned the box so Aemon could better see the contents. He heard soft gasps. He gasped himself. Inside the box were jewels all wrought of pure Valyrian steel and crusted with diamonds. There were earrings, rings, cuffs, and a magnificent necklace, all crafted to look like snowflakes. Aemon touched the jewels with reverence, thinking they would suit no one but his wife.

"Your mother meant for you to have it." Aemon looked up and found a pair of lilac eyes wet with tears. So his father still missed his mother. "Naerys will receive what is due to her before the queen’s annointing."

"And Aegon, father?" Naerys asked timidly.

"Aegon will receive nothing." Viserys let go of the box, albeit very reluctantly. "I will not have some trollop prancing around King's Landing in your lady mother's jewels. Aegon's share will go to his oldest child once they come of age."

"Perhaps you could give them to Alys, uncle." Daena rose and came over to take a closer look. "That might bring us some peace where the Tyrells are concerned."

"I had considered it," Viserys conceded, "but I decided not to. Aegon will torment Alys until she has no choice but to give him the jewels. I think it is best to wait until they have a child." He picked up a little bell and rang for a servant. "This meeting is over. Remember, the survival of this family depends on all of you and how you conduct yourselves from hereon out."

Aemon was occupied with his thoughts while he rode to the Cerwyn Manse. He was determined to save his marriage, but not for the sake of his family. Aemon wanted to do right by his wife because she deserved it and not because of anything else. He decided to give y/n his mother's jewels before Daena's coronation.

The city was awash with color. Dornish influence could be seen everywhere. Merchants were selling costly herbs and perfumes and sweets, bolts of the finest Dornish linen and tiny stick-like brushes the Dornish used to clean their teeth. It was all the rage in the city now. Aemon used it himself for the first time that very morning. He thought the paste that came with it was refreshing.

And that was not all. Dornish lords and ladies moved freely around the city now, garbed in colorful linen robes. Some had curved swords hanging by their sides. Others had slender but sturdy dogs ambling beside them. Aemon smiled when something near him grunted. He reached out and scratched the nose of a curious camel. The beast was from Dorne, and it moved lazily with the rest of the herd.

By the time he reached the Cerwyn manse, it was evenfall and the sky was tinged in a riot of orange and gold. Jory rushed to the gate and took the reins of his horse.

"Lady Cerwyn is not here, my lord," he said while Aemon dismounted. "She took the younger children into the city. New clothes for the coronation."

"Is Lady y/n here?" Aemon asked and followed him inside.

"Aye, my lord. By the beach. She said she wanted to be alone." Jory gestured for Aemon to follow him. "Ser Uther stayed back, to keep an eye on her."

Aemon made his way through the back garden and out onto the beach. The water was calm this evenfall. He barely heard the murmur of waves. Uther was seated on a mat with a fire in front of him. Y/n was floating near the shore. He waited till Jory spoke to Uther before going forward himself.

The young knight appeared distraught when he rose and dusted himself off. "My pardons, my lord. I fear you come at a most inopportune time."

"My father told me what was about to happen," Aemon said. "He says no one expects Jonnel and Edric to survive the trial."

Ser Uther sighed, and shrugged. "I suppose your father would know. He is Hand of the King and all."

Aemon sat down when Uther did. "Does she know?"

"Mother told y/n herself after you left yestereve. It turns out the Skagosi visit was more than just a visit." Uther looked out into the water, where y/n was still floating. "She is not ready."

"We are never ready when destiny calls us to the lists." Aemon inched closer to the fire. There was a sudden chill in the air. He took it as an omen, a sign of changes to come. "Let her enjoy the next few weeks. Things will change soon enough."

Uther pursed his lips and whistled. When y/n did not answer, he cried, "Oi! Your husband is here!"

Y/n finally swam back to the shore. When she waded out of the water, Aemon could not help but see how she was dressed in a simply cotton shift. He turned to Uther. The knight did not care for the wet dress or how it clung to y/n's body. He simply held out a cloak that had been laid on the side. Aemon, on the other hand, noticed a great deal. Y/n's cheeks were flushed after being in the water. Her eyes were still clear and bright despite the many cares weighing her down, and the wet material of her shift revealed a great deal. His entire body heated in an instant.

"My lord," y/n said, wrapping the cloak around her. She tilted her head and looked at him strangely. Uther looked at him strangely too, but his countenance held a grin and eyes filled with mischief. Aemon blushed furiously. He had been staring.

"Wife," Aemon heard himself say. "You look ravishing. Truly."

The way y/n looked at him... it was the same way she had looked at him the evening before when he kissed her hand, as if she had been starving. Aemon would have said more had y/n not thrown up a wall between them.

"Thank you, my lord," she said coolly, and sat beside her cousin. "For your kind words."

That wall is not going to come down, thought Aemon. Not until I give her a reason to bring it down.

Uther whispered something to y/n. Her face paled. "I suppose it would not be long before news reached the south," she breathed sadly. "Uncle Jonnel and Uncle Edric cannot hope to stand against Hrothgar Stane. He is a giant of a man, and in more ways than one. He could cleave a man in half with his greatsword. I have seen it. It is even bigger than Ice."

"Is that why you grieve, wife? You worry for your uncles?"

"Not really. My uncles were not the best of men, although they conducted themselves honorably around us. It is the thought of my grandfather that grieves me. He will have to die for me to come into my inheritance and..."

She burst into tears when she said it. Aemon quickly went to her, his alarm growing when her body shook violently with each sob. Uther ran back to the manse, promising to bring something calming for her to drink.

"Father gone before his time," y/n struggled to compose herself. Aemon cradled her in his arms and listened. "And now grandfather is supposed to be ill. A growth on his spine, the healers are saying. Aunt Emma says this Autumn might be his last."

"Then we will go to him before that," Aemond vowed over his wife's ragged whimpers. News of Cregan Stark's health changed everything. Serena will have to content herself with a turn of the moon in the city before they left. They could not stay longer than that. Y/n would want to spend time with her grandfather. She will have to sit with him at councils and learn how to rule. "We will all travel together, your sister and us. You will have time with your grandfather, I promise."

"It is too much," y/n sobbed. "It is all too much. I cannot bear it!"

"Yes, you can," Aemon insisted gently. "You are a Stark. You can do this. I will help you shoulder your burdens."

When y/n lifted her eyes, Aemon could see hope and fear at war with each other.

"I made vows," He said softly. "I intend on honoring them in every way."

Y/n lowered her gaze and sniffed, "Thank you."

Aemon held her, murmuring barely heard words until the shaking stopped and she had fallen asleep. With the help of a maid, he had her changed and placed in her featherbed, where she would be warm. He kept watch by his wife’s side, not knowing or even caring who else came and went. He did not care for the food Uther brought him, only helping himself to a flagon of cold water. He finally left when Emma arrived and took her niece into her care.

That night, after he had gone to bed and closed his eyes, he dreamed of his wife.
