Feebas and Magikarp share a lot of simularities. One not everyone noticed is that Feebas and Magikarp both have the same base stat amount, sitting at 200. And Milotic and Gyarados both have a base stat of 540. This is also the highest base stat increase for any evolving pokemon

Water Type Trainer Teto, Ludicolo & Magikarp
Read more for today’s Teto Trainer Trivia Territory below:
Water time! Starting with Pokemon choice. Ludicolo was another Pokemon I really wanted to see in VOLTAGE, but I quickly realized the starter types would end up being starter Pokemon. As for the inclusion of Magikarp, at some point I picked up an association in mind between Teto and Fish, but I’m not totally sure where that came from in hindsight. I know I remember seeing some art of her with fish before, so I guess that just stuck and made me want to include Magikarp. That said, did you notice that it’s based on the appearance of a special pattern Magikarp as seen in Magikarp Jump? More specifically, one with a black, white, and orange calico pattern! They should use those patterns more often...
Anyway, onto Teto’s design! I knew I wanted her to be ‘beach ready’ so to speak, which made distinguishing the design from Mikus feel a bit tricky at first. But once I landed on the idea of using a full body swimsuit, things got straightforward from there. I added the shirt, hat and sunglasses, to spruce up the design, and the flip flops came naturally so she wouldn’t constantly be barefoot. And that's it, a relatively simple process for this one.
Tomorrow, check back for Steel Type Trainer Teto!

I’d love to hear your take on some Bug types!(any is fine, but if you need a specific one, how about Heracross?). Thanks for your time Mx. Shine!
Hey, thank you so much for the ask! I focused on heracross for this one, but definitely keep an eye out for future assorted bug-type trivia, and please feel free to send in any more requests or questions you might have. Without further ado, here's some fun facts I was able to dig up about heracross!
It's well known that heracross are nectarivores, meaning they feed primarily on nectar, honey, and tree sap. This means that they don't normally need to prey on other pokémon, even in the wild! However, in desperate times (or, occasionally, on accident) heracross have been known to feed from nectar-producing grass-types such as bulbasaur and bellossom, much to the discomfort and chagrin of the grass-types in question.
Heracross, of course, have a set of wings hidden under their elytra! Unfortunately, they have trouble using them effectively due to their massive size and weight, and can only fly very short distances. One population of heracross in Lostlorn Forest in Unova has developed a unique use for their wings, likely in response to competition with Pansear and Simisear for tree space. These heracross are able to bat their wings rapidly to deflect or even outright mitigate weak fire-type attacks! Lostlorn heracross have also been recorded using this same strategy to deflect pollen and power-based attacks from enemies. Looks like those wings are more versatile than we thought!
Much like magikarp enthusiasts have their own league for the time-honored sport of magikarp jumping, many trainers pit their heracross against one another in massive tournaments meant to test which 'mon has the best throw strength! These tend to become quite the spectacle, drawing large crowds and lucrative betting opportunities. The current reigning champion, three years running, is an especially beefy specimen named Heracles.
Because in the wild heracross prefer to sleep in large logs, bushes, or under tree cover, it's highly recommended that trainers provide their heracross with a large blanket; the feeling of being covered while asleep is said to put them at ease.

Sometimes you need to knee a Magikarp to swim ----------------------------------------------------------------- lil more Silvally trivia for ya -The memories do alter the Silvally for them to truly become that type of Pokemon. Most of the changes stay in the altered parts of it's body though. No webbed paws or longer claws -Silvally isn't senselessly destructive like Gladion makes it seem. His destruction has a reason and it is fun

Idk enough about this new favorite pokemon vote but I found its a good time to say that magikarp’s Japanese name is コイキング , which translates to Koiking! Fun fact, the words Koi and Karp have switched meanins in Japanese compared to in English, which is why magikarp is referred to as a carp in english and a koi in japanese! In the end, koi are a type of carp regardless, so it doesn’t really make much difference.

More Dream SMP Pokémon AU
I’m not done, I’m never done, ur getting more
This will be more of me explaining connections between characters, maybe some fun facts, little trivia, whatever. It won’t be as character focused as the last one
Check my blog for part one
Tommy is the only child of Gym leader Philza Minecraft and his wife Kristen Minecraft. Kristen is a researcher, specializing in ghost Pokémon and how they ended up the way that they did
Kristen is a good friend of gym leader Wilbur Soot, as he specializes in ghost type Pokémon. That is the only connection Philza and Wilbur have with each other however
Dream is the grandson of the regions founded, a man who’s known to history as XD
Tommy and Tubbo met when Tubbo was bullied and attacked by some random trainers after just setting out on his journey. Tommy chased the trainers away together with Numel, but Tubbo’s Mareep was badly injured, and didn’t trust the boy for a long time after that
Connor and Schlatt are good friends, as Schlatt was the racers first sponsor
Bad found Sapnap when the fire trainer was just a toddler, being attacked by some random Pokémon after being abandoned by his parents. Skeppy was quite surprised when his boyfriend came home with a child in his arms, but didn’t question it too much
Sapnap’s first ever Pokémon was a Magikarp named Mars, that he got from Bad. He had been pestering his parents for a Pokémon for a long time, and they saw Magikarp as the safest option. Mars, who evolved into a Gyrados not too long after, isn’t in Sapnap’s party but instead back with his parents, but he still loves him a lot
Foolish, Sam, and Ponk are not dating. At least not yet. There’s a lot of tension and flirting going on, and their Pokémon are all frustrated
Jack and Niki were pen pals in their youth, and when they both set out on their journeys they made sure to meet up with each other
Jack and Tommy became rivals through the two constantly running into each other, and having a battle each time it happened. Jack always won, but Tommy simply refused to admit defeat and was just simply rude, which made Jack very frustrated with the child
Niki and Tommy have met a few times, mostly briefly before Showcases that both Niki and Ranboo were a part of. Jack has vented a lot of his annoyance with the child to Niki, so before even meeting him she wasn’t a fan. She’s not upright rude to him, but she doesn’t like him one bit
Wilbur used to be a performer in his youth, before he became a depressed gym leader. The reason he quit was because his best friend in the industry, Eret, stabbed him in the back and sabotaged his showcase, so he quit out of humiliation. Eret feels terrible about all of this of course and has apologized, but Wilbur has never been able to let it go
R. Velvet Cake is the husband of Antfrost Cake. Velvet is from a different region and moved to DSMP for his boyfriend before they got engaged. He’s an erotic writer with a Cherubi as his Pokémon partner.
When Tubbo was a child, he encountered a Combee that he befriended, and after a lot of nagging he managed to convince Schlatt to catch it. When Tubbo went out of his journey, he left Combee behind with Schlatt, who it does not get along with one bit, but Schlatt can’t just get rid of the thing since his son loves it so much, so he’s stuck with the pestering bug for the time being
Dream met George when he first arrived in Kinoko City before he was the champion. George was there to watch Sapnap battle as the two were childhood friends, and was intrigued by the boy who managed to take out Sapnap’s entire fire type team with only his Grovyle. He approached him later on, asking for a one on one, where Dream proceeded to take out his Munchlax almost instantly. Still, Dream was impressed, and he invited him to join him on his journey.
Karl joined the two a few years later when his stories had just started getting popular, and he needed some new inspirations. George invited him along on him and Dream’s journey that year, and Karl was ecstatic to gain some real experience
The town that most people start their journey, and where the Pokémon Professor (Who I have yet to assign the role to) resides, is called Spawn Town
Hypixel City is known for their competitive Pokémon battles, Pokémon Tower, and Pokémon games. It’s many trainers first city in their journey, but a lot of the older trainers visit there regularly to hone their skills
Cube City is known for many things, but mostly for its very eccentric gym leader. Haitch Bomb has both his Skitty maid persona going for him, and his regular talk show esk interviews with the Gym Leaders, and even some of the gym challengers that show enough strength or charisma
Nevadas City is commonly called The gambling City, because of its multiple casinos and betting rings. It even goes so far as their gym being located in the largest casino in the city, called The Needle
L’Manburg city is often called The Ghost City because of the many ghost Pokémon that roam the street. No one knows exactly why that is the case, but a common theory is that something catastrophic happened there very long ago
Kinoko City is sometimes called The City of Shrooms, because of the giant mushrooms that surround the city. There is also a large amount of Grass and Poison Pokémon that live within the city, which is why it is odd that the gym leader uses Fire Types
Hardcore city got its name for being located just beside what is known as The Hardcore Zone. It’s a place where you get a random Pokémon that can be both incredibly weak or incredibly strong, and are sent out into the zone, where you battle other Hardcore trainers or random wild Pokémon. If your Pokémon faints even once, you loose and have to leave the zone. Philza Minecraft is a Hardcore legend, and it’s said that he survived in the zone for five years before loosing to a wild Paras of all things
Ender City is located on a multitude of islands, where the water is so dark it almost looks like the void. Ender City is know for its beautiful night sky, which looks endless when the stars reflect in the black water.
Antarctic City is located quite far away from any other city or town, and is usually surrounded by a snowstorm. The place is also the home of a huge pack of Houndoom, that the gym leader usually takes care of.
The Pokémon league is held in a city by the name of Prime City. It’s also called The Greater SMP from time to time

my little brother got a shirt with magikarp and a shiny gyarados on it and will not cease to refer to them as “koi fish” and “Chinese river dragon” (respectively) and I know he’s doing this to piss me off, like he does when he calls me a fucking shrimp.
however, two can play at that fucking game, so I'm going to barge into his room late at night, and get political trivia wrong on purpose as revenge. if he wants to piss me off over things i’m passionate about, he’d better expect me to return the favor.

✨ 🏳‍🌈 💎 💢 !!!!!
✨ what draws you towards your hyperfixation? what is interesting about it?
it’s POKEMON it’s that childhood nostalgia + it legitimately improving on itself with every generation. starting with gen 4 (it really started gen 4!! they really tried for a story there, it just didn’t hit like gen 5!!), they’ve been improving on the rpg part of the game and making you invested beyond the catching aspect and like, i love that they keep topping themselves off. there’s an endless amount of replayability because you could use a completely different team and have a different experience and GOD i love pokemon
sun/moon is still the best story but swsh was a good addition to the series in way of its likable characters and good pokemon. guys just accept james turner’s art direction and it gets so much better.
🏳‍🌈 do you have any headcanons (lgbt, race, neuro, etc) that are important to you?
leon, sonia, piers, and marnie are all trans! bede and allistair are nonbinary! so many characters are gay, sonia and nessa are lesbians and dating, raihan is bi and he and leon are dating, piers is gay, marnie is a wlw... pokemon is gay
i’m limiting these to swsh bc we’d be here all day if i went down my list of hc’s for all of pokemon like there’s so much gay and trans and nonbinary in there
while i’m here thou, cynthia is a nonbinary icon that uses they/them pronouns
💎 are there any fun facts or trivia that you would like to share?
did you know they nerfed mimikyu. disguise damage now deals damage to its health bar and i’m so PRESSED about it. dont nerf my sweeper!!
i dont.. know facts of pokemon i just love pokemon
💢 what do you NOT like about your hyperfixation? is there something you would want to change about it?
sword and shield def have their faults. the lack of the gts is such a tragedy, link trade is not the same and the fact that the community had to make codes specifically to trade exclusives is a problem. the lack of the gts is obviously to promote home which apparently will bring it back but like, guys, that’s not good
also a lot of pokemon’s level up movesets fucking suuuuuck. cinderace literally doesn’t learn any physical fire moves aside from pyro ball which only has 5 pp and flame charge??? i really dislike the TR system they brought back of tms breaking after one usage. these two things together are supposed to encourage you to do raids to get watts to spend to buy TRs and possibly luck out with some good TR drops from raids but like that’s not fair considering if you don’t have the internet plan, relying on the AI for 5 star raids is nearly fucking impossible lol. it really feels like it’s nintendo punishing you for not spending more money, the fact they couldn’t program better AI or have pokemon that actually level properly with the raids to have better moves. why am i still getting a magikarp with a focus sash for a 5 star raids. it’s so bad. like i can see the logic to encourage the new raid system, but those learnsets are just, not justified. i know they took out a lot of moves for the sake of getting the game out but you could have thrown something. cinderace should have learned blaze kick naturally lol i’m so pressed about this it’s not fair
also anything below a 5% encounter rate is literally evil stop doing it

Trivia Tuesday - 7/24/19
This is one of those things that @ao3commentoftheday has set up for prompts and it seems like fun so why not. :D
SO!  For today's Trivia Tuesday: Ash's current team in my Pokémon fanfic Shadows and Ash
Pikachu - The starter, was always going to be here.  Relationship dynamic with Ash is impacted by Darkrai, starts off feeling blackmailed but does grow to care for Ash.
Lenny the Magikarp Gyarados - I'm pretty sure my entire reasoning for Lenny was that it'd be funny for Ash to catch a Magikarp and treat it as a serious member of the team, even with knowing that the only move he knows until Level 15 is Splash--I saw it in another fanfic called When One Door Closes, Two More Open, so a Magikarp teammate isn't all that original, but it makes me smile.  Plus, Lenny makes the goofiest Gyarados ever. :D
Patches the NidoranM Nidorino - Male Nidoran are one of my favorite Kanto Pokémon because purple, and I used one in my Fire Red run, so Patches was a must.  Fairly grounded.
Frenzy the Paras - After Patches I basically checked the encounters on the Pokémon games to get an idea of what the characters would reasonably encounter, and when I saw Paras at Mt. Moon I had to go for it.  Another Kanto favorite, and has ended up being a fan-favorite too--I've gotten a LOT of reviews expressing love for Frenzy, the canon-glass-cannon turned gamebreaker. :D
Vee the Eevee - Based on the one in-game you get as a gift, Vee came from Bill who has not been heard from since (we didn't see nothin').  Described by Pikachu as producing a whistling noise when he looks sideways during a windstorm; described by Darkrai as being Ash in Pokémon form.  Very energetic and ready for adventure.  Also not a very original pick, but it came to me, it works, and I like it. :D
Charmander - The one from the anime, whose former owner was Damien, Charmander is currently the timid one of the group who needs a little extra encouraging from Ash and a little less of Darkrai.
Egg??? - It's a mystery....
Tumblr media
And Darkrai's there too, despite not being a member of Ash's team--we needed to balance everything out. :D
Asks are open, feel free to ask about these guys!
Updates for this fic will probably resume in September--gotta finish that darned dissertation first. ^^;

Okay I realized something at the end of the Detective Pikachu movie (spoilers)
Tim’s Pokemon knowledge:
Knows Cubone’s story, doesn’t know to run when the ball doesn’t lock
Doesn’t seem to know of/much about Snubbull
“Magikarp is the worst”
DOES know that Charizard’s tail flame is super important (sidenote: how did absolutely nothing around the Char-family mons catch fire the whole movie?)
Knew about Mr. Mime walls
Knew Pikachu’s moves in depth and recommended a specific one during the fight
If he knew anything about Psyduck I don’t think it came up
Same for Aipom
conclusion? Tim definitely loved Pikachu as a kid. He was prepared to battle alongside one, probably! But his knowledge of other Pokemon ranges from ‘trivia’ to ‘doesn’t even recognize it’
Meanwhile, Pikachu repeatedly comes up with whole breakdowns for Pokemon (Psyduck being bombs, recognizing Greninja stars, accurately (if not accurate-timely) knowing how to evolve Magikarp in this setting). It’s an interesting contrast

P J’s PokéAni Trivia Tuesday #20
The BIG XX trivia! Today’s topic is all about animation :D For any new watchers out there (or maybe those that weren’t really aware), the Pokémon anime originally used hand-colored cel animation for about 260 episodes (and some specials I guess), and their first 9 movies before fully going digital to the standard we see today in almost all anime shows out there.
Tumblr media
The last episode to use hand-colored cel animation was in the middle of Master Quest (during the Larvitar story arc) in an episode called A Crowning Achievement. Following that, all episodes of the Pokémon anime were digitally animated. Although digital animation was first used in the Johto opening OK! (or the dub opening known in the U.S. as Pokémon Johto) that happened (a few years back) 144 episodes ago before the permanent change happened.
Tumblr media
However even in the first digitally animated episode, the flashback scenes of James's discovering his first Victreebel evolving (and catching it as a Weepinbell), along with the scenes at a hot tub and sleeping on a bed (that were never even shown on the anime before) were still animated on cels. The same goes for the flashback of him receiving a getting ripped-off by Magikarp salesman back in the S.S. Anne episodes from the first season.
Tumblr media
And after the animation transition was made, Pokémon movies still continued using hand-colored cel animation up to Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, which was the last work of any type of Pokémon media to ever use traditional hand-painted cels again. Whether if it’s the traditional style or the new-age digital look, Pokémon’s animations are always a sight to see!

Today was an excellent day.
A sick arm day. Saw a very old gym buddy I haven’t seen since like 2017.
Red Bank Community Day. A bunch of shinies. Still no Magikarp one. Great weather.
Went to a new brewery and met some quite interesting folks (even though they don’t like the Bills.)
Came in 7th out of 44 in our weekly Office trivia.
Let’s hope tomorrow will be quite as good. Go Birds.

Run a unique restaurant!
Hunt wild animals from rabbits to ravens to boars to bears
Cook rare dishes after your hunts
Adorable art style
Your boss is a dog?!
Hunt Cook is a charming and insanely cute spin on the typical phone game formula from SELECT BUTTON Inc., also known as the makers of Magikarp Jump. With the help of a talking dog named Boss, you learn how to hunt wild animals, cook rare and unique dishes, and serve hungry customers for coins and experience.
I honestly didn’t expect to be as addicted as I am, even months later. Gameplay is simple and involved; the characters are cute, fun, and sometimes a little suspect (see: Rocco, a shady, mob-ish guy who quizzes you on hunting trivia); and it’s a great time sink.
The game is split into two modes: hunting and cooking. When you hunt, you play a minigame dodging rocks and holes to catch up to your prey. Your success in finding game to begin with is based on a percentage, but you can upgrade your weapon to increase your chances and yield.
Cooking follows the typical mobile game formula. Gather your ingredients, put them together, and wait. Cooking takes real time—some dishes take a few minutes, others take several hours. You can spend gems, which can be bought or randomly earned, to speed up the process, but it’s cheaper and easier to just wait. You don’t NEED to buy gems with real money, but it’s there if you’re feeling impatient.
On top of hunting and cooking, the game gives you a lot of little things to do. There’s a store available for upgrading your hunting tools and kitchen equipment to increase your hunting yield or decrease your cooking time. Eventually, you can unlock hunting and cooking trials, which let you play more challenging versions of the hunting minigame or make certain dishes in a limited amount of time.

Hey! I was wondering what would be each turtle's favourite Pokemon? And who would be the most into Pokemon? I love your blog!
Thank you so much for reading our prompts and submitting this ask!
Leo
Lucario, a pokemon that’s extremely loyal with a strong sense of justice? Sounds like the leader in blue!
Probably got into Pokemon at the same time as Mikey, kind of as a bonding thing. Doesn’t know as much trivia as Mikey but knows enough to strategically put together a team to beat Mikey (which Mikey finds really annoying)
Raph
I feel like Raph would like Charizard the most because hey it’s a cool giant fire-breathing dragon! Especially after watching some episodes with Ash’s Charizard (what a sassy pokemon).
Raph likes the games more than he lets on. He’s isn’t interested in the trivia like Mikey, or the battle strategies like Leo. He just likes making his team super strong and wiping out all the NPCs.
Donnie
Rotom, he just thinks it’s pretty cool the way it can adapt to its surroundings and change its type. (mildly relieved that it doesn’t really exist, since Rotom would probably jump from appliance to appliance and mess around with his computers)
Also low-key likes Gyarados, he likes the idea of the underdog pokemon Magikarp becoming this really strong fierce pokemon.
Wasn’t really that into pokemon until Pokemon Go came out, now he plays the regular games whenever he has spare time.
Mikey
Mikey loves all pokemon but if he really had to pick, it would be a toss up between Pikachu and Skitty. No deep reason other than they’re both really adorable.
Mikey would be the most into Pokemon out of the four, can probably name most pokemon, knows move types and egg groups. Will talk your ear off if you give him the chance
Thank you again for the ask!
-Mod Armor
