hey guys, serious post time. i just found out that beloved queer horror icon and star of nightmare on elm street 2, mark patton, is very sick right now with AIDS-related ailments, with his manager describing his health as “having taken a drastic turn for the worse.” mark is currently in a mexican hospital where language barriers & an overwhelming number of COVID-19 cases are preventing him from getting the urgent care he needs. mark is trying to raise $18,000 american dollars in order to go home & receive that specialized care. if you guys could do so much as spread this post around, i would be incredibly grateful; mark is a sweet man who cares deeply for his fans & for the lgbt community. he has a lot of life left to live and i really don’t want to see another queer elder go, especially one who’s fought so hard to be where he is now.
mark’s donation post can be found here. if you’re curious to learn more about his life, i strongly recommend watching the documentary scream queen (trailer here). thank you. ♡

Some have called it the 'gayest horror movie ever made!' But for Mark Patton, the star of A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge, it was anything but a dream come true. Detailing the homophobia and Aids-phobia of 1985 as a closeted actor in Hollywood, Mark retraces his obstacles, missteps, and detractors on the pathway to stardom. 35 years after its initial release, Patton is hitting the road to set the record straight about the controversial sequel and the experience that halted his career before it even began. — SHUDDER.
